What about a fic where the Drifter gets Eris a pet rat for company while he's away and she names it after him.Extra points if there is some whacky hijinx where the rat gets away and causes mischeif! 😂
Awww him getting her a lil pet rat is such a sweet idea 🥺🐀 Thank you so much for the request, I hope you love it!!
When Eris had first awoken that morning, it seemed as though it would be just another average day. She had no plans made, there were no enemies of humanity to go up against at the moment, many Guardians were already patrolling the Moon for Hive. Which left Eris with the menial task of reading and paperwork- which she did not much mind.
But to her surprise, when Eris walked into the little cramped kitchen of her work place, she found something unexpected upon her table.
It was an animal carrier. Eris frowned as she approached it, seizing the slighly wrinkled piece of paper which had been taped atop the carrier.
The handwriting was messy. It looked as if someone with poor penmanship had attempted to write neater, which elicited a smile from Eris, who know had a guess as to who the letter was from even before she had seen it.
Hey Moondust, gonna be out for a while today Thought I'd leave you somethin' for company so you won't get lonely without me Hope you love it, and I'll try and send you a call tonight, alright?
  -Love, G
P.S. reach your hand out and the little guy will come right up to you
Eris looked curiously toward the carrier, reaching out a cautious hand to open the door. She peered inside, leaning closer and bringing her hand in front of the entrance.
A moment later, something darkly colored with a long pink tail rushed out, taking it's place in Eris's palm and looking up at her with gleaming black eyes.
"He... left me a rat...?" Eris asked aloud, staring down at the calm little rat with great surprise.
The rat squeaked up at her before sniffing around her hand, likely just as surprised as she was to see a strange newcomer.
Something else in the carrier caught the corner of Eris's eye. She looked into it once again, reaching inside with her free hand to grab a little plastic bag of what appeared to be chopped up pieces of broccoli and apples, along with a piece of nibbled on paper taped to it which read,
And here's some treats for him so he'll know your his owner :)
Eris frowned. I have a rat now...? She thought, finding herself happily surprised by how well the creature was behaving as he countinued to sit atop her hand.
"You will need a name, won't you, little one?" Eris asked the rat, gently sliding him off her hand and onto the table surface. She proceeded to un-stick the plastic bag, reaching in and grabbing a piece of the green broccoli with two fingers.
"Would you like this, little Drifter?" She offered it to the curious rat, watching him crawl up to her.
The rat gently took the broccoli in his teeth, rearing up on his hind legs. He then dropped the broccoli into his little pink hands and began nibbling the green stalk.
"Yes, you like broccoli, don't you?" Eris allowed herself a rare moment to smile down at the little fuzzy creature.
But the rat sped across the table as soon as he finished his broccoli, catching Eris by surprise while he climbed up atop one of the many books beside them. The rat sniffed at it for a quick moment before swiftly walking up to one of the edges and knawing at it.
"No, Drifter!" Eris exlaimed, reaching to grab him, but missing as he ran off the book and to the other side of the table.
She traced a gloved finger along the now chewed and awkwardly sticking out part of the book edge with a frown before reaching to grab a piece of apple from the bag. She attempted to make her expression look more relaxed as she offered the piece of fruit to the rat, who then sniffed at it, took it from her hand, and began chomping down.
"I have no knowledge of how to care for rats," Eris sighed out. She reached up to her earpiece, hoping she could call the Drifter for some explanation or assistance, but instead of his voice she merely got silence from the other end. She sighed again, tossing the rat another piece of broccoli.
Eris began putting her mind to work, looking around the cramped kitchen for anything she could use to make sure the rat didn't ruin any more of her possessions.
That will work she thought as she walked across the room, grabbing the large rations crate she had retrieved from last month. She dumped out the remaining old food packets atop the counter before bringing the box over to the table, setting it atop a chair where she could easily look down into it.
Eris then reached into the zip lock bag, baiting the rat closer with another chunk of brocoli. The rat let out a squeak when she grabbed him, lowering him carefully into the crate.
She dropped him another piece of broccoli. "there, there, little Drifter... this is for the meantime while I figure out what to do with you."
She turned away, slipping off her gloves as she leaned over the kitchen counter and grabbed a kettle. She filled it with water and set it atop an oven eye to heat.
Why would he give me a rat? She thought to herself as she stared down at the kettle. And what am I supposed to do with it? I do not have the time to care for a creature.
These thoughts countinued on throughout Eris's head until the kettle erupted with a shrill whistle. She poured in her water, grabbed a spoon, and began stirring in the honey and cream for her tea, her mind elsewhere in thought until something whiskery flicked across the back of her hand. She snatched her hand away and jerked her head towards the thing that had touched her- to her surprise, it was the rat. He pointed his head up to sniff at her, his little sharp teeth showing.
"How did you get out?" Eris asked him, not expecting an answer from the rodent.
She scooped the rat into her gloveless hands, being once again surprised by the rat when he sped up her arm at lighting fast speed. The rat crawled atop her shoulder, leaning over to sniff her face before crawling into her hood and finally settling down.
Eris stayed there, unmoving, her glowing eyes wide with shock as she felt the rat curl up against her neck.
Will he bite me if I move? She wondered, moving her arms stiffly. But instead of the sharp bite of teeth, she felt the rat's whiskers tickle against her skin.
"Little rat..." Eris tried through stiffled laughter. "Please come out," she reached a hand into her hood, her fingers meeting the rat's soft fur.
As much as Eris tried to gently persuade the rat out of hiding, he would not come. He only continued to rest against her, falling into a gentle sleep.
Eris sighed. "Fine. Rest, little Drifter."
She once again retrieved her tea, bringing it back to her face and taking a sip as she weighed her options.
She could force the rat off of her, risking angering him and possibly getting bit. Or she could let him rest where he was and attempt to go about her day as normal.
"I suppose you may stay, little rat," she murmured, deciding on option two as she grabbed the rat's bag of treats and left the kitchen, entering into her private study.
The room was somewhat large, crammed full of Hive artifacts and ancient tattered books. Yellowed papers were scattered across the table and desk, strange glowing things hung around the room, giving it an eerie feel. A lamp sat in a corner, illuminating the space with it's warm light.
Eris approached her desk, sitting in the hard wood chair and setting the plastic bag atop the surface beside her. She could hear the rat sniffing around from inside her hood, likely noticing the bag of treats, but still not willing to come out.
Eris delicately opened the old book in front of her, gently leafing through the pages until she got to where she was meant to be. She began reading, translating the Hive letterings and signs, and writing her findings on a skein of Hive leather beside her.
She murmured under her breath what she read, trailing a finger across the page, careful not to smear the ink.
She continued on like that for some time, writing with neat precision, until she finally noticed; the rat was missing.
She brought her head up, looking left and right across the desk surface, hoping she would see the little rodent she had begun to grow fond of. She pushed her chair back and stood, running her eyes across the floor.
"Little rat?" She called, bending to look under the desk. "Little rat, where are you?"
A dark grey blob caught the corner of her eye, she jerked towards the table, seeing the rat atop it with something green in his mouth.
My jade coin Eris though, trying to pull a smile onto her face.
"Little rat," she said, attempting to lull the rat with a soothing voice. "Please return that, it is quiet valuable to me," she slowly approached the table, bending towards the rat.
But once she got close enough, the rat ran, speeding across the room and slipping behind a bookshelf.
"How...?" Eris groaned, barely managing to slide her own hand behind the shelf.
She stood, circling to the other side of the large piece of furniture and peering behind it as best she could, hardly managing to make out anything. She then made a sweep of the room, looking under things and peeking above surrounding shelves, searching behind books and papers and artifacts, but she found no rat anywhere.
When finally she knew she had to give up, she plopped into one of the hard seats, leaning her elbows on her knees and hiding her face in her hands.
"I lost him..." she mumbled under her breath, her arms and legs aching.
She massaged her brow, hoping to ease the headache that just began to throb. She stood after a moment, heading back to the kitchen and setting on the kettle once again.
"Today has been ineffectual." She said to herself, preparing her cup of tea and taking a sip.
Just as she was reaching up to attempt another call to the Drifter, a flash of dark grey whizzed across the floor. Eris looked down, locking eyes with the rat. He returned her stare, his little black eyes glued to Eris's three green ones.
At that moment she finally remembered the words from the Drifter's letter. It is worth a try, I suppose, Eris thought, kneeling down and slowly extending her palm. A moment later the rat was on her arm once again, sniffing happily as he looked up at her.
"You little pain," Eris said, affectionate and tired. She got up and sat at the kitchen table, setting both the rat and her cup of tea atop it. "Now, little rat, where did you put my coin?"
The rat merely ran across the table to her cup, reaching up and sniffing at it.
"No, that is mine," Eris grabbed the mug by it's handle, keeping it away from the rat's curious self. Little Drifter then turned his attention to Eris's Ahamkara rock, running up and sniffing it instead.
"No, don't-" Eris reached out, but was too late to catch the rock.
It rolled off the edge, bouncing loudly against the floor with a cringe worthy ring.
"How am I suppo-" Eris's annoyance was interrupted by a knock on the door.
Eris grabbed her rock and the rat, putting him on her shoulder as she approached the door. She punched in the code and opened it to see a smiling Drifter.
"Hey, Moondust!" He greeted as he walked in. "How you likin' your little friend?"
"I may just slap you, do you know that?"
"What?" His expression reflected genuine astonishment. "Why?"
"This rat has caused me to waste most of my day by running off and hiding, he has stolen the jade coin you had given me, he just now rolled my Ahamkara bone off the table- need I go on?" She huffed.
"I thought he'd make you happy!" The Drifter defended. "Did you try stickin' your hand out to him?" He asked, sticking his own hand out. The rat came running from Eris's shoulder to his own with a happy squeak.
"I will admit I had forgotten your words of advice for most this time." Eris sighed out. "I thought you said you would call me?"
"Oh, yeah. Happened to get finished with my work sooner than I expected, so I figured since it wasn't too late yet I'd pop on by and check on you two." He grabbed Eris's hand, bringing her palm out so the rat would run back over to her. "So he's been a pain, huh? I can take him back. Thought you might like him, but I understand if you don't wanna care for a rat- or any animal really," he offered her a smile, showing that he was not offended.
Once again, Eris sighed. "I named him after you, you know."
  "What, Rat?" He laughed.
"No," Eris replied softly, warmly. "I named him Drifter."
The Drifter's facade fell for a moment, and he allowed a sincere smile to glow upon his face.
"He is quiet aggravating at times, just as you are, but in the end, I do love him." She smiled to the little rat in her hands. "Yes, I will keep him. Thank you, Drifter."
"Heh... my pleasure." He kissed her cheek. "I just wanna make sure you don't get lonely when I'm away."
"And indeed, now I shan't be."
A gleam of green caught the corner of Eris's eye, and when she turned to look she found the jade coin in the corner on the floor.
  Eris smiled.

and onion to grapes for kisa !!
🧅 [ONION] What is surefire to make your OC cry? Who knows of this information?
Kisa lives a life of lies. The story he weaves of who he used to be before Razvedka is nothing but lies. Interrogating him about his past might fully make him sob. Really only Sandrone and Inessa know. But with time, Lucille does too.
🍍 [PINEAPPLE] Pineapple on pizza or not?
"No... Gross.."
🍋 [LEMON] What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?
A pretty adeptus and the family he's made. He'll give his other arm and life for them.
🌽 [CORN] How good are they at hiding and finding their way?
Once a cat always a cat. It's a skill of his! He can also curl up into small little balls despite being that tall and fluffy.
🍈 [MELON] If they had to be put into a box, what box would it be and why?
An actual box. Kitty. But uh your stereotypical charmer with secrets is his trope.
🍏 [GREEN APPLE] How do they differ from the norm and how are they punished for it?
Well besides being a Fatuus. Kisa has always lived on the fringes. An outcast, an orphan. He's made his ability to flit between spaces his strong suit. But it's only made him more lonely, less belonging.
🍐 [PEAR] What is their current social standing? If they could change it, would they, and to what?
Like fine? He's not broke by any means. If he could change anything it'd be his job- he doesn't want this anymore.
🥒 [CUCUMBER] How innocent are they (unaware to the bad happenings around them)?
Not at all. Kisa is Very Very Aware.
🥬 [LEAFY GREEN] How mundane are they? Do they like it that way?
What is MUNDANE?! he's so dramatic most of the time.
🥦 [BROCCOLI] What do they hate about humanity/their species?
Brushing his tail after it rains. But also humanity's greed and disgusting need for control.
🥑 [AVOCADO] What will they never back down about, even if it makes them seem bad?
There was a time where Kisa would do anything so long as it benefitted him, no matter how cruel. It's how he got so far in his position. Razvedka are the best of the best. Handpicked. The question is too broad
🥝 [KIWI FRUIT] How does their outside appearance differ from who they are?
His outside appearance is whatever he needs certain people to see at any given time. Who he is really? Quiet, dramatic, considerate. A reflection of a boy that barely exists anymore.
🥔 [POTATO] What do they have that others see as a flaw, but they don't care about?
Well he's missing an arm so there's that.
🍆 [EGGPLANT] How are they used by others? How easily are they tricked into this?
He's not. He knows what he's doing. That's what makes him dangerous.
🍇 [GRAPES] What's their circle of people/their species like? What dynamic would they be called?
Weirdest lil found family fr

I LOVE seafood but I've never tried monkfish because hoooooooly expensive batman 🫣 Saw this blessed yellow sticker in Morrisons and decided to give myself a lil treat*
Tumblr media
Served it up pan fried in lemon garlic butter with new potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, and homegrown green beans 😋
Tumblr media Tumblr media
T'was very tasty indeed! 🤌
...however...
I've never bought full priced monkfish (obviously), and having eaten and enjoyed it I definitely never will.
It was a very nice fish. I'd gladly eat it again. But flavour-wise, it's incredibly similar to something like cod or haddock. The only real difference is the texture which is much firmer and "meatier".
That's not a bad thing at all, it's very nice, but so is the softer flakier white fish options. They're both equally nice in different ways, monkfish just costs way way more.
I suppose one other difference is the lack of fine bones, dude is 100% tail
Tumblr media
But yeah, will only ever buy monkfish if I see it reduced which probably won't happen often. Glad I got the chance to try it though 🙂
*I just noticed the date on the pack of monkfish is a week ago, I'm not eating rancid fish I froze this as soon as I got it home 😅

Idk if you're still into Fanmade Vivisaurs but I just came up with a good one.
Spelat (based off the prehistoric Cave Bear)
An Air Type Close Ranger. It's a nonreptilian vivisaur with green fur that transitions into maroon around it's paws and tail. It has an underbite with two sabertooth like canines to deal massive damage to it's opponents. High Defense, High Speed, Medium Accuracy. When in the SZ,
Attacks would include
Paw Swipe (43🗡️70fp)
Bear Barrage (80🗡️150fp) (chance to cause excitement+: 75%) (a paw swipe and then two bites)
Carnivorous Chaos (113🗡️ 220fp) (Attacks AZ and SZ) (Chance to cause confusion+: 55%) (Flying Slashes, like wind blades)
Super Enflame
Team skill: Icy Mess (79🗡️170fp) (Attacks AZ and SZ) (Chance to cause Excitement+: 55%) (a wind beam with ice shards in it.)
When in Sz it boosts defense by 30%, speed by 10%, Attack by nothing, and Accuracy by -10%
Anyways that's my lil guy :)
-the broccoli man (chaotic evil)🥦
I have not made any new fan vivosaurs lately (I should though)
Oooo this is a LOVELY fan vivo, Broccoli Man. Love the inclusion of its stats. I might have to draw this one, if you don't mind?

//I suppose its worth noting:
//They can’t just sense Ki, but can sense Life Energy, sumthin’ you can’t hide. Learned it from Zeni.
//Tho if you in MUI or AUI or Omen, anything angelic, you can sneak up on Void. It masks the energy via the light wavelength.
//Tbh my dear Broccoli, he likes you. Me and Sovl have been talking and so much funny shit has come out of my brain I wish we was in a lil group chat.
//He likes Broly’s distaste for things being alive in his presence (cept for Tater, and soon Yamcha). And he finds his power and lack of fear impressive.
//He is ABSOLUTELY, if yall decide to keep him, going to follow Broly around the house/apartment/wherever they live, just like ‘pay attention to me, cool mortal. pls. look im cute and shit. hEY. HEY!.’
//Broly will have a second tail and it’s gonna be in the form of a cat following him around until he gives up and pets him, or Tater/Yamcha picks up the feline and carries him away from the giant Saiyan.
//...It prolly gonna be the ladder, but Void can dream
//fuckin scene in Abridged

Anime recs (some of my personal faves, not the public opinion, obviously):
About sports:
-Haikyuu (I am caught all the way up to season 4 and I have never been more passionate about volleyball in my life, not even when I played it)
-Run the Wind (it's about running but also...friendship? and motivation to follow your dreams?? I mostly just recall relating to some of the lazier characters and sensing the brotherhood vibes. It feels slow at first, but if you get invested you realize that you've binged the whole thing.)
-Free! & Free! Eternal Summer (you wanna get emotional attached to a bunch of teenage swimmers? I don't know why all these sports animes are about guy groups, but here's one about some divas -I mean swimmers. Quite the lil quaint group of nuggets, I gotta tell ya.)
About magic/supernatural
-Sailor Moon (need I say more? She's our queen and we are never too old to watch her steadily turn from crybaby to warrior of the people. If you know, you know. FIGHTING EVEIL BY MOONLIGHT-!!)
-Avatar: the Last Airbender (technically counts as an anime. Holds my entire childhood, every personality trait I have...for sure came from characters in this show. Iconic. Never loses its charms. Lots of magical realism that is centered on the natural elements of the planet, some spiritualism too. Appa is reason enough to watch this show.)
-Legend of Korra (technically a sequel storyline to Avatar: the Last Airbender, but...it's SO DIFFE R E NT. I was at first put off by my lack of OG characters, but there are so many references embedded in there, and you get to meet everybody's kids and grandkids. Also Korra? The embodiment of female pride and power, nothing will forsake her for long. Kinda STRESSFUL how many obstacles the writers create in a single season...let alone 4.)
-Inuyasha (on oldie but a goodie. Technically the first anime I ever saw...*sigh* ah youth...Anyway, it'sset in feudal Japan, but there's time travel so you won't feel too out of place. There are of course demons and magical priestesses and demon hunters and cranky, frankly exhausted, old women. Has a quality plot line and great characters. There is a new sequel show airing about the future of the characters and their bloodlines, I've only seen an episode or two but the nostalgia alone made me want to weep.)
-Fairy Tail (a CLASSIC. It has magic and dragons and FAERIES and found family and is so loveably chaotic, also: hype af fight scenes)
-Soul Eater (another chaotic group of teens that fight impossible battles, the intro music always hits hard for nO rEASON, a little more blood and angst but not like not enough to cancel out the immense joy/annoyance that is Excalibur)
-Noragami (a new take on the concept of how gods are created, sad boi hours have started, wholesome main characters, the graphics are beautiful, some of the monsters can be a tad creepy - but I'm a wimp so it could just be me)
-Bungou Stray Dogs (I HAVE ADOPTED ATSUSHI. HE IS MY SON NOW, THANK YOU FOR COMING. The art style is one I enjoy, very crisp lines and a good variation in character designs. The protagonist is named Atsushi and he is a golden child who must be protected yet allowed to flourish at all times. There is detective work, some great fights, lots of random character flaws, OH and honey the story line is TWISTY!!)
-My Hero Academia/Boko no Hero Academia (this is the show where my broccoli son goes THROUGH IT literally the WHOLE TIME. A great story of the underdog, and the variety of characters and powers are...*chef's kiss*, makes me want to lowkey live in this universe but the amount of villians... gurl it'stoo much for my weak heart smh)
- Cannon Busters (okay, so I know people have mixed opinions on this one. Lemme say this: the intro and outro SLAP, point blank periodtt. The characters are diverse in color and abilities, it's like wild west meets technofuture meets medieval magic war times. The plotline is very all over the place, but hey it's the journey right. If you don't love SAM and Casey by the end of episode 1 you're doing it wrong.)
-BNA: Brand New Animal (the art style is so freaking cool yet cute we luv to see it. The world building is pretty good, basically it'slike Zootopia, but there are way more issues with this island o animals that have a human form half the time. Our main character is determined and just a tad naive, there is a wolf man with a pet crow and we're all okay with that)
-Sirius the Jaegar (straight up, I have no idea how my sister and I binged the whole show in like 2 days, but we did. Great fight scenes, the is blood but... that's because there are vampire-esque creatures also. The main character's childhood got done dirty, but go off on your origin story I guess.)
About slice of life:
- My Little Monster/Tonari no Kaibustu-kun (a wholesome high school romance with oddballs left and right, but you just wanna root for 'em y'know? A good wind down show. There's a chicken in it.)
- (Kaichou wa) Maid-Sama (an unconventional and lowkey erratic main heroine, the love interest seems weird but you'll adore him by the end, just simple high school shenanigans with ridiculously dramatic conflicts)
Phew, that was kinda long 😓 but those are just some animes that I have watched thoroughly off the top off my head to give you a good variety of options. Let me know if you already have seem any of these. Hope this helps you fight off boredom and repetition. Please tell me your faves, I love hearing about new shows!! 🤩 (And btw, my sleep patterns wrecked, I've been going to sleep at like 3AM 😅 Hahaha, send help.)
love love LOVE THIS!! Thank you for sharing babe ❤️❤️❤️ i actually haven’t watched that much anime so i’m glad to get a rundown on some good recs!
also!! i feel u!! team no sleep ftw

BNHA boys - Cat Cafe Headcanons! (pt1)
Shinsou Hitoshi:
😺: let's face it, he co-owns the whole thing with Aizawa. His love for each of these cats is uncomparable.
😺: He names every single cat personally and has a book of all their habits, needs etc.
😺: He may or may not overfeed them with treats every time they do something adorable (Which is often because they’ve learnt they can get treats that way.)
😺: He makes sure each cat is groomed to perfection and each claw has a 5cm length exactly.
😺: He has an eye on every single cat at every waking moment, so don’t try anything sly or your hypnotised ass is walking on out of there.
😺: He is devastated when one cat eventually gets adopted due to it being a shelter type of cafe. Poor bean will cry under his mountain of cats.
Bakugou Katsuki:
🔥: He has a rude name for every single cat. I.e Priss Bitch, Asshole 1 and 2.
🔥: He pretends to not care all that much but he’ll groom every single inch of the spoilt cats to perfection.
🔥: When one gets adopted, he’ll pretend not to care all that much but will wallow about it later on when in bed.
🔥: He 100% throws kibble at the cats for amusement.
🔥: He also sneaks in catnip just to annoy Shinsou/Aizawa and watch the cats go wild.
Kirishima Eijirou:
🏔: Doesn’t obsess over them like Shinsou does, but definitely cares for each and every one of them.
🏔: He has pet names for each and every one of them.
🏔: Is afraid of hurting the cats with his quirk, poor baby.
🏔: Takes care of the serving and preparing instead of the cats.
🏔: Will sometimes get distracted by one of the cats and have to stop what he was doing.
Izuku Midoriya:
🥦: This Lil broccoli gets mobbed by the cat as soon as he entered the cafe. Perhaps they thought he was catnip? We’ll never know.
🥦: His mumbling intensifies if he finds out something new about a cat.
🥦: He has a separate notebook for the cats and their favourite people.
🥦: The cats love to mob him whenever he’s on break, you could walk in and he has a cat on each thigh, one shoulder and on his head.
🥦: Please don’t put this boyo in charge of feeding time, his legs won’t survive the scratches.
Iida Tenya:
🤖: This boy does all his research on cats, what’s the best food, what to do in mating season etc.
🤖: Does not like it if the cats steal each other’s bed/foods etc.
🤖: Makes each cat a special meal plan, no kibble, raw meat and other nutritious supplements.
🤖: The cats love it when he does his arm-chop-wave, they think he means playtime.

🐦: He and Dark Shadow are almost always chased, hissed and batted at by the cats.
🐦: He would leave but the pay is good and he loves the friendly atmosphere.
🐦: He uses Dark Shadow to chase away the cats if they’re being particularly sassy.
Kaminari:

⚡️: He is often mistaken as a customer due to the fact he never wears correct uniform and he is always playing with the cats.
⚡️: He is the Catnip Culprit™
⚡️: Makes a lot of strange sounds to try and get their attention..
Hanta Sero:

💤: He is usually found asleep at his desk with at least one cat lounging around with him.
💤: A lot of the cats sneak in when he is sleeping and either knock off pens, glasses etc or steal his items before running away to hide them.
💤: He had to buy strong plastic bottles because the cats kept knocking off any glasses of water he had when he fell asleep. (Which sometimes ruined paperwork.)
💤: He likes to use his scarf to play ‘Capture-The-Cat!’
Shouto Todoroki:
❄️: He is indifferent towards the cats.
❄️: He can sometimes be found sat on a couch, cup of tea in hand with a cat lounging around somewhere.
❄️: He discovered some cats like it when he uses his quirk slightly to pet them. (Some cats like cold fingers some like it hot.)
❄️: He talks to them in the deadest voices ever. “Snuggles, Please do not meow at me in such a tone.” (He fully argues with the cats.)
❄️: The cats have an odd fixation with his hair, loving to blend the colours and smack at the slightly long strands.

This past week has been full of ups and downs. From long days in the desert to warm and quality company, we’ve been dealt a set of experiences that are unforgettable. Times have been tough. Phoenix wasn’t too inviting at first and I am thankful for the Warmshowers we ended up with last night. We will remain here until the rain is over. For those of you that don’t know what a Warmshowers is, it is a hosting network that puts long distance cyclists up in individuals’ homes for free. It’s essentially couch surfing for cyclists.
Once again, I think posting once or twice a week will be normal for me until I’m at a better cadence. Everyday is a little unpredictable and I never am quite sure where we will end up. But that’s the point and we’ve made it work so far. In so many ways this lifestyle has released a lot of anxiety and is relief from the sort of stories and assumptions I create in my head around daily interactions and subtleties. You know what I’m talking about. Mind chatter. I don’t have my therapist with me on the road but being on the road forces complete presence.
And when I’m typing these little snippets of life out, it always takes longer than I’d ever expect. You kinda rack your brain with “What do I want to share?””I want to be authentic” “Is this boring?”. This is for me as much as it is for y’all so looking back on these memories, I want to be able to connect with every flavor of feeling.
Since Ocotillo, we’ve pedaled through some major stretches. Leaving Ocotillo on the fourth day started out pleasant in the morning sun. We followed SR98 through the Yuha Desert and its interesting terrain. We paralleled the border with open skies and the mountains of Mexico on our south side. The temperature was great and I was feeling hopeful and touched from the night before. Upon exiting the Yuha, the landscape quickly changed as we drew closer to El Centro and Calexico city limits. Miles and miles of solar panels and broccoli that would never touch the small grocery stores in the very region that grows it. Small towns in the deserts are very much food deserts. You typically can find only packaged foods and meat. Vegetables are scarce and when you do run into them, they are brown and slimey. Once we reached Calexico, the traffic became heavy. There we entered SR111 where we did several miles beside semis and big box corporate stores. At the end of this 50 mile day we settled into a Days Inn in Brawley. We treated ourselves as we foresaw another long stretch ahead. Between the town of Brawley and the town of Blythe there’s about 80miles of limited resources. We wanted to be well rested for day five. That evening we stocked up on groceries and water and caught ourselves up on the Democratic campaign and Coronavirus drama.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leaving Brawley we pushed through more agricultural land and passed by several sad lil CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations). This day was one of our hardest as it was roughly 65 miles and through some tough conditions. When we continued east on SR78, the landscape changed dramatically, once again. We entered into the Algodones Dunes of Southern California that would lead to the “town” of Glamis. Glamis is a town that exists seasonally. It’s a giant playground for folks with a lot of money. We saw some seriously fancy off-road vehicles in the Dunes. It’s scattered about with millions of dollars worth of trailers and RVs, dune buggies and generators. You have to see it for yourself. I didn’t quite capture this stretch in any quality photographs as it was a tough climb with a lot of sand on the shoulders, but I certainly never saw anything like it in my life. We had one guy dipped down off the road under the shade of his trailer awning, hollering up at us, wondering if we might like a beer. We politely declined with a peace sign as we thought it might be dangerous to try and slide down there. A couple miles after the friendly stranger, we dropped into the convenience store of this “town” for an ice cold cola and water refill. There I fantasized about riding around in the buggies. Sure would’ve been fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Glamis on, the road conditions became worse as we proceeded down the shoulder-less 78 in high sun and head wind with cars traveling at about 65mph. Toward the end of it there were several miles in the desert full of dips in the road, making visibility very difficult for both us and for cars and trucks. I grew tired and hungry and frustrated. And with every little hill that came my way I would audibly groan a mighty groan. At about 5:30pm we reached the BLM Oxbow Campground, resting peacefully on the Colorado River. It had a very clean pit toilet but with no access to potable water. We wouldn’t reach all services again until the next day, 20 miles away in Blythe. Our moods quickly transformed from sour to sweet as we enjoyed the beautiful, cool and clear night sitting in the silence of the moonlight— silently loving, silently relieving pain and silently oozing with pride of the hard day’s work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Saturday morning we didn’t have much of an agenda and decided to take it easy. One of the snowbirds at the grounds asked us if we needed anything —we said YES COFFEE PLEASE. So we shared our morning with Don and Judy of British Columbia. We talked about music and the great North American landscape and the other bikers they’ve met through their years of travel. They eventually reminded us of the time and we began to pack up and head to Blythe.
Blythe was only about 20 miles out and once we arrived in Blythe we didn’t leave. We went to the Ace Hardware for some camping fuel. Outside the store we met Robin, a town local who invited us to his drinking hole that doubled as a Warmshowers host. We weren’t quite sure if we wanted to quit for the day. We went out to grab lunch (a delicious huevos rancheros!) and discussed what to do next. We wanted to check this Warmshowers out before completely dismissing it. It is located at the B and B (beer and bait shop) a couple of miles outside the main stretch. Upon arrival, we were greeted with ice cold Coors Lites... and another round... and another round... and another... and then we bought a round... and before we knew it we were setting up our tent behind the shop and getting a car ride to the grocery store. The property holds the shop, a few trailers with residents and a rescue goose named Lucy. We had a wonderful afternoon with a handful of kind folks and colorful stories. One man told us of “transporting bodies”. He’s rotated his work between being a medic and working in the prison system. Scott, on the other side of the table, was witness to a completely different set of experiences. He is a former addict and was incarcerated for several years. This group of sweet people spoke of the man, Wayne, that started the communal property and his love for everyone that came through. Warmshowers has been running there for 10+ years, still thriving, even after he sold the property to take care of his sick wife. I was touched by one of the community members that approached Bobby and I while we were setting up camp saying “Blythe is the armpit of CA. We feel forgotten about, but we do have each other here. We want you to feel comfortable and at home. Whatever is ours is yours and if you need anything at all, don’t hesitate to ask. We rely on one another in this town”. We felt grateful to have passed through Blythe and crossed such heart warming folks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Sunday morning, we rose early in the dark with the time change. We spent a lot of time going east on the I-10 that day. We met a couple of cyclists at a rest stop. One of them is from the US, the other from Australia. We expected to see them again, and the next day did at a Mexican restaurant whilst stopping for lunch. We did about 50 miles yet again and camped at Ramblin’ Roads RV Park in a place called Hope, AZ. We talked to another cycling group, this one consisting of three women from Maine. Mary chatted us up a bunch. They were not looking to stop quite yet and had a few more miles to do that day. We had a lot of time that evening so we made glorified Ramen and dug into the books we are reading. I caught up with my mama on the phone and encountered some of the cleanest showers I bathed in thus far.
Monday we trekked far into Wickenburg, our final stop before going into Phoenix. We stopped halfway for lunch and ran into both groups of women. The three from Maine goofed off and snacked on Mexican sweets in front of a convenience store. They were also heading to Wickenburg and figured we all might end up camping together. And we did that night at the Aztec Village RV Park. We had a grand time with these fine women. Noreen, the matriarch of the group, is hesitant to introduce herself to people at first and knows how she likes things. She is direct and communicates very well. I really like her— she’s very gentle and nurturing once she gets to know you a little more. She is a former Acadia National Park ranger. Working there is how she got to know Mary. Mary’s got a hankering for finding Gila monster skins and armadillo tails. Auralie (sp?) was the third and youngest of the group. Noreen met her by “shushing” her at a French film viewing. Auralie is French-American and is quite funny. She kept reminding us all that gender and time are both social constructs. Can’t say I disagree. We cooked dinner together and spoke of our adventures and about how much fun we were all having. They are a splendid group that really made me homesick for my SHRIMPS. Shrimps are the gals I bike and bond with back home in WA. Don’t ask as to why we are shrimps. We just are. That night it began to rain, it covered up the loud sound of traffic rushing by. We all woke up to wet tents. Bobby and I got an early start to Phoenix. Before taking off we said “See you later down the road” to our new cycling friends.

Seasons
Part 1
Read on Ao3
Pairing: Peter Parker/Wade Wilson
Summary: In spring, the swallows come. Two days after Peter sees the first swallow of the year, he finds a plastic Easter egg on the ground. Inside is a grenade.
Or: Peter and Wade, and the development of their relationship between one spring and the next.
Words: 2251
In spring, the swallows come.
The swallows, out of all the birds, are his favorites. Peter sees a lot of birds in his line of work, probably more than almost anyone else in the city. Even the bird watchers see them most often when they’re still.
But Peter gets to see them fly, and the swallows fly like they know exactly what a gift it is.
As far as he’s concerned, spring in New York City doesn’t really start until he’s seen one.
Two days after Peter sees the first swallow of the year, he finds an egg on the ground.
This is probably unrelated to the appearance of the swallow, as the hot-pink plastic-ness of the egg seems to indicate that a person, and neither bird nor reptile nor weird experimental mammal placed it there.
He picks it up tentatively, and isn’t it sad that his lifestyle has made him so suspicious of an innocent plastic Easter egg?
He cracks it open to find a grenade.
In the next instant he’s off the civilian-riddled street and on the roof of a nearby building, heart thudding furiously in his chest. He fumbles with the device, hands shaking slightly, and finds, to his great relief and slight confusion, that the grenade doesn’t appear to have been activated in any way. He webs it five times to a structurally unimportant part of the roof just in case.
He swings back down to land on a lightpost next to where he found it. To his dawning horror, he spots pastel colors dotted all down the street, stuck in the windshields of cars, balanced in the windows of businesses, and lying on the ground beneath trees and street lamps.
“Mommy, Mommy, look! The Easter Bunny came early! See? There’s an egg!”
Peter freezes, then twists on his perch, honing in on the voice. There’s a little girl with red pigtails bouncing up and down excitedly beside her mother, a yellow egg clutched in her small hand.
“No!” Peter yelps, flinging himself off the post and towards the girl. “No, no no no no, don’t touch that!” He yanks it out of her hand, backing away quickly. She stares up at him in shock. Tears fill her eyes, and her face scrunches up. “Oh, no no, don’t cry, it’s okay,” he says hastily, cupping his hands between her and the egg. “You just don’t want this egg is all, it’s full of…” he cracks it open, and stares. “...vegetables. It’s full of vegetables.” He does his best to hide the packet of M&M’s within his hand.
Her face lights up. “I like vegetables!” she chirps.
“Of course you do,” Peter mumbles. “I mean.. of course you do! Vegetables are awesome and you should eat them all the time, but, uh, not these ones, okay? They’re all...uh, mushy and gross.”
He spots a blue egg in the window of the salon behind them, and he lunges over to snatch it. This one appears to contain a AAA battery. He looks back up at the girl and her mother, who are watching him in confusion and alarm, respectively. “Just...uh, don’t pick up anymore Easter eggs, okay? Ask your mom to buy you some broccoli or something,” he backs away down the sidewalk, pointing at the mom. “Buy your kid some veggies! Don’t let her touch any strange eggs!”
He fashions himself a web bag, and sets off on an egg hunt.
Within a few minutes, he has a collection of twenty-three plastic Easter eggs of various sizes and colors in the bag. Their contents range from candy, to coins, to what seems to be the entire contents of someone’s junk drawer. Several contain five and ten dollar bills. One has a hundred dollar bill, and he takes careful note of every one that has money in it, just on the off chance that they aren’t somehow rigged to explode or poison him or turn into a robot that will cut his nose off while he sleeps.
The trail stops at the opening of an alley. In the middle of the alley is a black-and-red-clad figure with pink bunny ears, skipping cheerfully away.
“Here comes Pe-ter Cotton-Tail,” he sings brightly, a large basket swinging from his arm.
“Hey!” Peter calls after him.
Without missing a beat, he spins gracefully on his toes, and Peter abruptly has a gun pointed at his forehead. “Shoo-ting you in the fuck-ing skull!” He finishes to the same tune.
Peter yanks the gun out of his hand with a strand of webbing before the last note has even died off. The other man barely seems to notice. He claps gloved hands against his cheeks, staring at him with the comically large white eyes on his mask.
“Oh Em Gee, you’re Spider-Man!” He squeals.
Peter looks at the gun now in his hand, wrinkling his nose in distaste, and then back up at the other red-and-black suited person in the alley, a growing suspicion as to his identity forming. “You wouldn’t happen to be Deadpool by any chance, would you?”
Deadpool makes a sound like a tea kettle with some sort of factory error, and bounces up and down on the balls of his feet. “He knows our name!” he squeaks. He freezes. “Wait. Did you just happen to know it, or do you have psychic powers in this universe? Did you see it in my mind?”
Peter blinks. “No. I saw it in an Avengers briefing.”
Deadpool nods thoughtfully. “That’s not as cool, but still, adorable that they talk about me when I’m not around.”
“They said you’re an unstable menace and I should ‘take extreme caution and not approach unless absolutely necessary’,” he says, mimicking the Captain’s lecture voice.
“Ooh, a menace, huh?” Deadpool repeats in a high-pitched voice. “So what exactly brings you to approach lil ol’ menacing me today?”
Peter raises an eyebrow under his mask. “Seriously?” he holds up a plastic egg. “I’ve got like fifty of these. Easter isn’t even for another two weeks, man.”
“Aw, someone doesn’t have much Easter spirit!”
“You could’ve blown someone up!”
He cocks his head, looking genuinely bemused. “Sounds fun, but that’s really more of a Valentines’ Day sort of celebration, Baby Boy.”
“Then why leave an egg with a grenade in it lying in the street?”
Deadpool does a double take, feeling for his belt. “I did no such - oh.” he pulls a half-melted Hershey’s chocolate belt and two grenades out of a pouch. “Well that’s not right.”
“Okay. I’m confiscating your basket. Hand it over.”
He narrows his eyes, clutching his basket tighter. “You know I can just buy more Easter eggs.”
“And I can just confiscate those too. I’ve got a collection going.”
“Fine!” Deadpool huffs, shoving the basket at him.
Peter takes it gingerly, wary of more explosives. “Appreciate the cooperation.”
“So is Easter Grinch your usual job, or is this just a night job? Because the outfit definitely screams ‘night job’, and that is not an insult, baby boy.”
“First of all, it’s day, as you can tell from the giant ball of fire in the sky. Second, I don’t get paid for this, and third, this is the first time I’ve ever had to steal Easter eggs from anyone, so congrats on being unique,” Peter says, busy checking the eggs in the basket. Deciding that there’s nothing rigged to explode, he attaches a line of web to the roof above them, landing neatly on the edge.
“Hey, you know if you ever need money, I’ve got some ideas for things I could pay you for!” Deadpool shouts up at him.
“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that!” Peter calls back. “Besides, you couldn’t afford me!”
He’s gone before he hears if there’s a response.
The next time he sees Deadpool is in the beginning of May, and this time it’s not even Deadpool’s fault. It’s the guy’s who thought it would be funny to release approximately fifty bajillion weird fuzzy caterpillar things the size of cats around the city.
As far as supervillain schemes goes, it’s really more on the ‘inconvenience’ side of things, rather than the ‘what kind of person does this shit’, so that makes it a pretty good day in Peter’s book. The Avengers are even here! Which probably just means they happened to have nothing better to do, but still.
Peter has three of the squirmy bundles of white fluff in his arms, and is busy trying to fish a fourth out from under a car when a pair of red-and-black booted feet appear in front of him. He looks up from where he’s laying on his stomach to see the merc watching him, head cocked, stroking a large caterpillar that’s curled comfortably in his arms.
“That looks uncomfortable,” he says cheerilly.
“How observant,” Peter snaps. “Want to help me out here?”
“Ooo, Baby Boy, there’s all sorts of things I’d be willing to help you out with,” he wiggles his eyebrows meaningfully.
“Like getting a giant bug out from under this car?” he asks, deciding the best way to deal with the innuendo was just to ignore it.
“Mm. Kinky.” Deadpool kneels down beside him. “Why don’t you just use your webbing to pull it out?”
Peter readjusts his grip on the three he’s holding, tugging one back from where it’s trying to crawl over his shoulder. He shuffles around to the other side of the car. “It sticks to their fur. Hair? I don’t know. Anyway, I don’t have time to cut it free and I don’t want to hurt them by just yanking it off.” With a quick lunge, he finally manages to grab the bug before it can inch away from him. “Nevermind, got it.” He stands, tucking the new addition into his armful of fluff. He nods with his chin towards the one in Deadpool’s arms. “Here, give me that one, I’ll take them to where we’re rounding the others up.”
Deadpool narrows his eyes, hugging it protectively to his chest. “Excuse you, ‘that one’ has a name. Her name is Beatrice, and I’ll have you know she is a purebred!” He says haughtily.
Peter raises an eyebrow. “A purebred what?”
Deadpool looks at Beatrice in silence for a second. “Bug,” he declares, with a confident nod.
Peter firmly resists the urge to be at all amused. “I mean. You’re probably right.”
“Hey, Spidey!” a voice calls behind him. He turns to find Hawkeye, staring warily past him at Deadpool, one hand on his bow. “You okay?”
Peter stares at him, puzzled. “What else would I be? They’re caterpillars, Clint, they don’t even bite.”
Clint’s eyes dart to Peter with that look he always gives him, which means ‘now is not the time for your bullshit, kid’, which is just plain insulting. Seriously, he’s fought with the Avengers before, are they really going to get all fussy about some harmless little bugs? He’s Spider-Man, for God’s sake. They should be his specialty.
He’s just beginning to work himself into serious irritation when Deadpool speaks up cheerfully behind him. “Nah, I don’t think it’s the fuzzy-wuzzy bugs he’s worried about. Or at least, not the miniature ones.”
Peter turns back to ask what he’s talking about, and finally picks up on the edge under his cheerful tone.
Ah. Right. The deadly merc with a mouth. Who he was warned not to interact with. Clint steps forward, hand tightening slightly on his bow, and beckons Peter forward, as though he’s a small child who’s wandered too close to the tiger cage at the zoo. “Come on, SHIELD’s pretty much got this under control.”
Peter looks at Deadpool, who’s standing stiffly, still clutching Beatrice. The moment he notices Peter watching him, he appears to relax. Appears. Peter knows what calculated relaxation looks like.
“Aw man, I would love to come with you guys, but my evening is completely booked right now.” He saunters casually backwards, towards the entrance of a nearby alley. “But you fellas enjoy the after party! I know, I know, it’s not as much fun without me, but you’ll survive.” And with that, he’s gone, without giving either Peter or Clint a chance to respond.
Clint sets off down the street towards the containment cage SHIELD set up, and Peter hurriedly falls into step beside him. “He wasn’t actually doing anything, just being...weird,” he tells Clint, not entirely sure why he’s defending Deadpool to him, for some reason feeling he should.
Clint stops abruptly, and Peter almost stumbles in surprise. He looks Peter in the eye, as best he can through the mask. “Look kid, you’ve got a good heart, it’s what makes you a good hero. But Deadpool? He doesn’t. He’ll kill you the second someone pays him enough to cover the cost of the bullet, and he won’t think twice about it. He might not be a villain you need to fight, but he’s damn well not someone you should be spending time with,” he says firmly.
Peter fidgets, adjusting the caterpillars in his arms. “What are you, my dad?” he mumbles.
Clint grins, the tension broken. “Don’t let Stark hear you say that.”
Peter laughs, and they start off again, their conversation reverting back to its usual casual chatter.
But something keeps niggling at the back of his mind.
For all the warnings people keep giving him, his spidey sense never so much as hummed around the merc, not once.

I always meant to do an updated picture of everything I feed my goldfish 😅 Here’s what’s currently in the house.
Dry foods:
Northfin Goldfish and Veggie formulas, both 3mm pellets for the big kids
NLS Thera +A
Omega One Goldfish Sinking
Fluval Bug Bites Goldfish Formula (the tiny ones, don’t make miss Spore floaty!)
Aqua-Pharm Super-Pro Gro+ Pellets
Cobalt shrimp pellets
Aqueon Goldfish Granules, hiding in the back
Ken’s Sinking Spirulina Sticks
Ken’s Brine Shrimp Flakes
I have a couple more junk food ones I didn’t even bother to put in cause I don’t use them and they’re trash. I’m lookin’ at you Hikari 👀
Veggies/Frozen:
Big-ass thing of frozen peas
Zucchini
Collard Greens
Turnip Greens
Repashy Soilent Green and Super Gold (those two big containers, fresh made yesterday and still have to cut and bag it)
I also made!!!! adorable lil jelly hearts which are in the middle there. I fucking love them they’re so cute. Most are soilent but a few are super gold, a few are a mix.
Fancy-ass brand mysis shrimp. The manager at the LFS told me it’d ruin them for anything else and he was RIGHT it makes them into such spoiled brats
San Francisco Bay Frozen Freshwater Multipack:
Emerald entree (veggie based mix)
Spirulina brine shrimp
Bloodworms
Freshwater frenzy (protein based mix with a little veg)
Garlic Guard is up there cause I add it to all my gel batches, plus some extra spices and spirulina and stuff for fun and nutrition. I forgot this time actually, but usually their repashy gets a dash of cayenne or paprika. If I’m making it for the snails it gets some liquid calcium, some cinnamon, y’know, so I feel like I’m doing something 😆
For staples I feed mostly Northfin for the big kids, leaning towards the veggie formula as they get older. Northfin is totally my new favorite brand, even just looks and feels so much higher quality than anything else I’ve ever used. 1mm NLS and Omega One for the babies. Everyone gets repashy, yum yum. I rotate the other dry foods in here and there when they (read: I) get bored.
Veggies are a few times a week, I’ve been running through those a LOT faster now with so many fish >.< Just finished the broccoli and bok choy recently. I usually buy whole and cook it myself but may start getting pre-frozen medleys for a while cause the fresh stuff in winter is just eehhhhhh looking, makes me nervous.
The adult fish get frozen protein every 10 days or so, the little ones every 5-7. I’ve gotten real good at filling the big hungry excited kids up on their huge crunchy veggie pellets and then while they’re distracted sneaking some yummy worms to the little orandas 😏 And 6 of the small ones are in other tubs still so that helps too.
@fantasticbeastsandhowtokeepthem I know you’re a sucker for varied diet breakdowns, thought you might like to see it all.
@ newer keepers, it looks kind of crazy and intimidating, but this has been built up bit by bit over like three years. I’ll save up an extra $10 or so and go buy a new fish food. Or hang around shows and stores and grab sample packs. I got a ton of stuff from doing like 3 months of MyAquariumBox. Also try and get to know the fish keeping community in your area! I share a lot of my foods back and forth with friends. Give each other half a bag here and there, lets us have more variety and spend less money. We can’t usually use it all on our own anyway. If you don’t have many fish even sample packs last a long time, I’ve only recently started really using things up and that’s cause I have 6 large adults, 9 growing juveniles, and a rotating cast of short term fishy houseguests. Currently three abandoned single tails handed to me in a bucket who eat more than I’ve EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE GEEZ LOUISE.
Tl;dr, just have fun with feeding your fishies! Make sure you have a good staple or two, some veggies, and the rest you can get creative with.

A big thanks to @twistofpayne for being a constant motivation and to y’all for sticking around though I’ve surpassed by own standards of procrastination, sorry about that. You can catch up here.
Disclaimer:This has little to no relevance with the mythology so please don’t use it for educational purposes.
Also as I said, I have not done an in depth research so if I’m making a major mistake feel free to point out.

The feeling running through you can only be named so. Though you didn’t have any reason to be and you knew it. But when sleep came easily without calling out for your mother through tears and when your dreams weren’t haunted with galloping horses and swallowing darkness, you considered that term. And when you woke up smiling, jumping to your feet to start a new day, the thought became firmer. But you didn’t have any reason to be, and you knew it well.
With yesterday’s scene replaying in your head, Harry promising to let you in, though with a bargain, was a pretty big deal. The thought about all your questions being answered made you feel giddy, and though you know that it is somewhat your right, you feel privileged for that. And why shouldn’t you? But the most exciting part would be when he told you that you were free to go beyond the walls of the palace without being chaperoned. And though it was followed by a long lecture, that didn’t deter your rejoicing of the little freedom you gained. At last it was about time that you get to know the place that you call ‘home’ now.
You can still picture his face, eyes of the colour of spring leaves and face tilted down to match your eye level-“You can go out for sure. If this” he said pointing to the flower crown with his lips twisting on the corners, “is what I get for letting you out. But remember,” he continues in a much serious tone, “This isn’t your human world. You won’t find helpless mortals here. This is hell, full of nightmares. And I want you to be safe. Don’t want-….. Don’t want you to be harmed, alright. So listen carefully. I only ask you three things, don’t talk to any of the souls, they are brainless, heartless spirits who’ll whine and plead to anyone who listens. They are where they are because they had it coming, nobody can change that, not even me. Second, don’t go out of the gates of the realm without letting anyone know, I trust you not to. And the most important thing,” His hands rested on your shoulders as he leaned forward and your ears perked up for the words to follow, “Do not ever, and I mean ever, go to Tartarus.”
He didn’t explain the last part and you didn’t dare ask him, though you had some vague idea what it could be about. You knew better than to push him. The discussion ended pretty soon after that. With Erebus storming in and Harry hiding your crown quickly and you holding in a fit of giggles. Erebus, as always, gave you a toothy grin that reached his eyes, but then you think you saw a shade of disapproval when his eyes landed on Harry, though even the idea of anyone showing their disapproval to the Lord of Death sounded absurd to you. You were soon ushered out but you didn’t complain. At last, with all the promises you had a long day to plan ahead of you. And in that haste you even brushed off Nyx on your way, though you soon felt guilty and went back to promise her a visit later.
But when you remember the plans your shoulders drop with a sigh. You realized your movement wasn’t solely restricted by Harry, but also his hell hound waiting outside for anyone who’d like to fall his prey. And from experience you could tell that you don’t want to be that ‘anyone’. And though somewhere in the back of your mind you know he won’t do anything as long as you obey his owner, you didn’t really trust his animal instincts and decided to befriend him first before going anywhere. And that’s how you end up heaving a steak, that you swear weighs as much as you, heading towards his den.
You stumble and drag your way to the corner you know is allotted to him. But on reaching there, instead of the beastly snarls that you were expecting, you are met with soft whimpers along with some murmuring and coos.  You are sure that your ears are ringing until you see the scene playing in front of you. Harry petting Kerberos, with the hound’s three heads nuzzling or licking him all over and his tail wiggling in adoration. And the feeling is mutual. With a gleam in his eyes, you have never seen Harry smile so bright, so genuine and just so…. Vulnerable. You feel like you’re witnessing something you aren’t supposed to, something private, and that makes you avert your eyes. But Fates doesn’t agree with you, as you stumble over grabbing both of their attention.
“I hope you are not planning to eat that whole thing alone.”
You look up to see Harry smirking at you with Kerberos now settled on his lap but eyes fixed on you with a mean look. You let out the breath you didn’t know you were holding relaxing your shoulders. “This is for…” you tilt your chin to the hound as Harry looks down at him petting on his head.
Harry chuckles, “He cannot eat that! He is vegetarian.”
The piece of meat falls from your hand with a thud as you stare at him in astonishment. You’ve never heard about a hound being vegetarian, let alone the hell hound. But Harry finds your surprise amusing as he couldn’t stop laughing at you.
“C’mere, lil’ one. You got to learn a lot.”
You consider his offer but settle down right where you are, at a safe distance from the ‘vegetarian’ hell hound.  And that amazes him even more, chuckling away until you frown at him and nod to start with whatever his explanation was.
“You seriously can’t expect the Keeper of the Dead to be swayed by meat. That’ll be a major crisis then!” his pitch rising along with his brows and his eyes wide with excitement for something you still don’t understand. And you decide that Harry with Kerberos is the best side of him.
You have to bite your lip to keep from smiling as Kerberos takes back the attention nuzzling into Harry’s chest and Harry starts cooing at him as if you aren’t even there. And as your mind unknots from his weird declaration you don’t even realize when you think out loud, “When did you meet him?”
Your question startles the both of you and you immediately want to eat your words but Harry soon relaxes with a light shake of his head as he looks down at Kerberos who looks up at him as if even he understood the question.
“So is that your first question?” he smirks at you and you take a moment before nodding.
“I… well, when I first came here… I wasn’t prepared for all this" he said waving his hand around. "And there were a lot of responsibilities. Let’s just say I was a kid in the grown up’s world. And at times, I’d be… you know, and it was after one of them grueling court days when Erebus came to me with this lil’ guy here” he looks down when Kerberos whimpers wagging his tail and for a second you think he forgot you are there again. “He is not just my pet; he is my friend, my o-" he pauses with a heavy exhale, the emotions nobody thought he had threatening to surface. "You can say we grew up together.”
When he finishes, he doesn’t look up and neither can you look away. The air is only filler with Kerberos' whimpers as he buries further into Harry's chest as if he knows Harry needs it. The intimacy of the scene doesn't escape you. He is really letting his walls fall for you, letting you in. And that scares you as much as it is satisfying. You’ll have to do the same, but can you?
“Are you planning to answer that or…” his fingers snapping at your face brings you back from your train of thoughts and you clear your throat with an apology.
“So, my turn. Why didn’t you leave?” You blink at him a couple seconds longer trying to sort out your thoughts. “I mean, not that you’d have succeeded but you never even tried, not if I don’t count” and on cue Kerberos barks which startles you. “Why didn’t you ever fight for yourself?”
He asks the last part so softly that it scares you, not from him, but from yourself. You have flashbacks of when you were wounded and crying to go back home, of the times you woke up from nightmares wishing that your mother was here, or rather you were there. Why didn’t you try? Was escaping here never a motive? Did you never want to ‘escape’ this place or was there no place for you to escape to? These thoughts scared you of some secret that you had safely tucked in the back of your mind, even out of your own reach. But here he was, the man who turned your world upside down, staring right at you not to intimidate you but just waiting patiently for you to let him in, like he let you.
“I… I don’t think I was brave enough to face you, or gather the courage to go against you. Guess I was just too scared of you” you say with a shrug, trying to sum up as smoothly as you can. But he doesn’t seem convinced, at all. And for a split second you think this is it, he’d close the deal and you’d be back to what you were, his prisoner…. Or were you?
But he doesn’t dig in, and you don’t know if it’s because he just wasn’t interested or he thought better of it but you sigh in relief nearly thanking him out loud.
“Here take this” He looks up at you handing you a broccoli from the pile you didn’t notice till now and your gaze falls on it then back at his face with a questioning look. “Isn’t that why you came here? To bribe Kerberos to tolerating you?”
You roll your eyes at his choice of words, instantly forgetting all your worries as you lean forward taking the vegetable, still not really believing on his ‘vegan’ hound theory. He nods at you encouragingly as you crawl at a safe distance from Kerberos. The hound pants looking at you and you feel that even Kerberos is trying to give his best. But when you lean too close you get confused which head of the three you’re supposed to feed and then his patience is over and he just eats it out of your hand while you hold back a shriek.
“There yeh go. See, didn’t I tell yeh?” Harry sounds proud though you don’t know who it’s directed to and you just stick your eyes to Kerberos enjoying his meal. And that innocent look makes you want to pet him but stop mid air with your fears taking over you.
“Go on” Harry says softly, his voice laced with adoration. And you couldn’t deny that as you let your hand run through the silky fur over Kerberos’ back. The feeling gets accustomed to you as you run your hand along his back while feeding him and you can see a glimpse of that small pup with a baby God, laughing and playing and just being each other’s everything in a world as dark and gruesome as the pit of hell. But that brings another question to your mind.
“Harry, what-“
“How long has it been? Oh, I should be going, I got a whole lot of work piling up.” He interrupts you standing up ready to leave.
“But I had another question.” And you hate how meek you sound when Harry is being all authoritive.
“One mystery each day, lil’ one” he says while leaving and you harrumph at this new rule. But as you pet Kerberos, who is still licking your hands, you think maybe that’s for your own good.
Strangely for you, leaving Kerberos didn’t come so easy. Now you understood what Harry meant, the comfort and ease shared with him came handy. Kerberos felt like an old friend, with whom you can share all your secrets and trust them to remain so, your confidant. So when the time came and you had to say bye, though only temporarily, you didn’t really want to. But then again, you had to walk away from the tail-wagging, panting pup looking up at you with big brown shining eyes, who has accepted you as well, with a promise of visiting again soon.
But stepping away from the comfort of having a company gave a chance to your own demons to corner you. Your mind fogging with your previous thoughts. Maybe, that’s what he wanted, the trick you were waiting for him to pull. To let you destroy yourself. And you had to agree it was working.
You try hard to convince yourself that you meant it when you said you’re scared of him, and you know to an extend it’s true. But there is just something that’s eating you up from inside. The thought about actually being happy away from ‘home’, actually wanting to stay here a bit longer, to not fighting hard enough. The memories come rushing to you, when you were back up there and wished everyday to run away, cursing and pleading. You didn’t belong there, you knew that, even long before you were here. But do you belong here?
To escape your own thoughts you duck in the corridors of the palace, heading towards what you knew to be Nyx’s chamber, thanking the darkness around you as you are allowed to be in your bubble. You did promise her to visit later but you aren’t sure if she is expecting you right now. So when you find her door cracked open and see the back of her head you don’t know if you should interrupt or not. By the looks of it, she is in a conversation with, who you assume from the shadow to be, Erebus and you feel it’s not the best time to be here. But when you hear a scowl followed by, “This isn’t right. She shouldn’t be here” you stop.
“She doesn’t belong here, nothing can be right as long as she is here.” Erebus confesses aggressively.
“You’re over thinking. Anyway, it’s not your place to be making that decision. I’m sure he has thought it out.” Nyx says calmly, as if this isn’t the first time she is having this conversation.
“It doesn’t seem so. All the three realms are in a chaos because of her, if he thought this out he didn’t do a very good job at it.”
“Do not- He can hear you. Don’t say such things out loud. And what are you going to do about it anyway?” Nyx tries to confront her husband though it only agitates him more as he turns towards her, showing you his blazing face.
“Don’t forget I’m not scared of him. And it’s not I who’ll do anything, it’s you. You have to fix this ‘cause Fates knows this child has lost his mind over this new obsession of his.”
You can see the fire in Erebus’ eyes, the darkness settling on his face true to his name, the God of Darkness. But what you can’t see is Nyx’s face and that’s making you anxious. You know in your heart that Nyx is the only one you trust here and she’ll never hurt you and all you want right now is to hear that coming from her. So with your ears pressed against the heavy door you hold your breath waiting for her reply. And when she starts with a “You know…” your heart stops as well before dropping at her next words. “I’m trying.”

Behind the Scenes with Scooter Braun, Lady Gaga & Fergie at Tommy Hilfiger's Tommy x Gigi 'Music Fashion Festival'
Behind the Scenes with Scooter Braun, Lady Gaga & Fergie at Tommy Hilfiger's Tommy x Gigi 'Music Fashion Festival'
A hectic scene backstage at a fashion show for a designer of note isn’t at all surprising. Seeing frazzled assistants, model handlers and coordinators is expected. The stunner behind the curtains at Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring/Summer 2017 Fashion Show, however, is how chill and cheerful everyone is.
Los Angeles singer Anderson Paak’s groovy single “Come Down” blasts as makeup artists apply their skills to women who hardly need it. And that’s exactly the easy feel Hilfiger intended on for this evening, set in Venice Beach, whose carnival-lite locale has been converted into “Tommy Land.”
Easing his hands into his khakis, a relaxed Hilfiger tells Billboard that this second iteration of his Tommy x Gigi line embodies “Southern California cool. It’s really inspired by Gigi [Hadid], who collaborated with me and is from Southern California. This is a music fashion festival. It’s not just about the fashion. It’s always been about the connection.” The models, in jeans and flip-flops, bop along to the jams as their nails are painted and the clock ticks towards their 5:30 p.m. showtime.
Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie cruises through for air kisses and hellos arm-in-arm with Hadid. She’ll later perform a set of her smashes in a shimmering aqua blue motorcycle jacket and hot pants.

Not far off, runway-ready buddies Hailey Baldwin and Alanna Arrington dance in red and white Tommy swimwear to D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty’s party-starter “Broccoli.” Walking in her first Hilfiger show today, Arrington is far from nervous. Her biggest hope at the moment is that Snoop Dogg comes through the speakers next. “‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ brings the mood up!” she says. Baldwin’s in the mood for Rihanna. Anything from the Bajan songstress will do, new or old. “I’m really with ‘Work,’ Baldwin says through a smile. “And ‘Umbrella’ still has a special place in my soul.”

Still in her robe, Portuguese model Sara Sampaio floats by. It’s her third time walking a Hilfiger runway. “It’s one of the brands that supported me from the beginning,” Sampaio says. The Cold War Kids’ “First” is the song she turns on to get herself amped. “When I play it, it gives me confidence. It makes you feel powerful. It has a really strong and inspiring beat.”
It’s pretty easy to spot the difference between a newer model and a vet, but the tell isn’t in their faces; it’s what they’re doing during their downtime. Harrington literally skips around with fellow youngin’ Yasmin Wijnaldum. They’re both more than willing to field questions from an obnoxious TV crew asking them to make an assortment of faces. “What’s your scared one?” “Now give us your ‘I’m so surprised!'”
Meanwhile Joan Smalls, who is gracious and all smiles, is clearly not about that nonsense. Sidestepping the shenanigans, she tells Billboard why she loves Tommy so much. “He embodies the all-American girl,” she says. “And his shows are always uplifting. It’s never taken too seriously and it’s all about being yourself. He’s embracing California and I think that’s super cool—especially doing it outdoors.”

And in contrast to others who are bumping hype tracks before the show, Smalls listens to mellow Atlanta native 6lack’s “Free.” “It’s the melody and the vibe of the instruments that sounds really cool and comforting. It chills you out.”
When showtime arrives, stars line the front row. Lady Gaga’s flanked by photographers as she finds her way to prime viewing real estate. Music exec and Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun is chairs away. “He’s always found a way to create the next,” Braun says. “I’m friends with Tommy. I have the pleasure of not only knowing the brand, but knowing the man. The brand is incredible. The man is even better.”
As songs like Bruno Mars “24K Magic” and Drake’s “One Dance” rumble, Hadid, in a printed bohemian dress, strolls down the strip dividing the audience. Smalls tosses on a ’90s-baggy red, black and yellow sweatshirt that falls to her knees. Crop tops and mini skirts follow. And in a flash, it’s over. All the pieces in the show are currently available for purchase. Tommy’s been an early adopter of the runway-to-stores movement, scrapping the half-year lag that most fashion houses still slug with.
Now in a blue chambray shirt, Hilfiger makes his way down the aisle with Hadid. He stops only twice to hug Gaga and then to blow kisses in the direction of Kris Jenner.
Earlier, Jenner told Billboard that Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” would probably be the best song to pair with Hilfiger events. “Because Tommy’s so inclusive,” she explained. “Even though his brand is worldwide, he manages to pull off looks everyone wants to be seen in and wear and be comfortable in. So it’s a family vibe for me. My whole family is wearing Tommy Hilfiger!”
Baldwin said that a Hilfiger show is “definitely one of the most fun during fashion week.” Her opinion seems to have rung true. Fergie is on stage dancing her tail off to “M.I.L.F.” Food trucks are giving away tasty delights. And Tommy Hilfiger, the man, is beaming.
The song Tommy said is his favorite at the moment is worth noting, especially because of how he delivered it. He paused, and laughed as if he knew how silly what he was about to do and say would be. Then Hilfiger let loose: “Caaaalifornia loooove,” he sang, stretching the auto-tuned opening lines of 2Pac and Dr. Dre’s 1995 smash “California Love” as best he could. He’s 65, knows how to party and, apparently, is going to keep on rocking for years to come.
