this has been tumbling around in my mind for the last week so now i have to expose all of you to it. shoutout to @wellgoslowly for listening to this in person

lockwood LOVES listening to classic rock and metal (as well as a few older pop-punk but he'll never admit to it). anything from the seventies and eighties (he pretends that no other era of metal exists and if you even say the phrase "nu metal" around him he WILL see red and draw his rapier). it doesn't matter who the band is or what subgenre they are, as long as the song was released pre-nineties he loves it, although he tends to prefer more mainstream bands and artists (respect) like ozzy osbourne, judas priest, kiss, etc. the only band he will break this rule for is metallica - they are his all-time favorite band and i will die on that hill. and when i say he WORSHIPS james hetfield... that is an UNDERSTATEMENT. james is like a pseudo-father to him. he doesn't want to put posters on his walls so he keeps a scrapbook of pictures cut out of old magazines of james, lars, kirk, cliff, even jason and rob. he is a number one dave mustaine hater and will defend lars's drumming skills until he's blue in the face. lucy got him a signed copy of ride the lightning for his birthday one year and george didn't see either of them leave lockwood's room for a week. there are only three things he loves in this world: his family, his friends, and james hetfield.

lucy, i feel like, has the most whiplash taste in music. like, yes, we can all agree lucy is your average indie pop listener and i am a major supporter of that hc (i know what linnie’s playlists sound like) but i guarantee you when she shuffles her most-listened-to playlist it goes from crane wives immediately to cannibal corpse. she loves death metal, deathcore, goregrind; the nastier the better (except for black metal - iykyk). the era doesn’t matter to her either although she tends to gravitate toward the older stuff. think opeth, cryptosy, morbid angel, deicide, obituary, venom, slayer, even xavlegimaofffassssitimiwoanindutroabcwapwaeiippohfffx - she loves playing the “can i figure out the name of the band given the logo” game and if she loses she listens to them. she finds it a great way to unleash her stress and anger without hurting herself or others or even taking it out on a case. she doesn't like to mosh (autism) but she loves watching people in the pit at concerts. she drags lockwood and george to the store to help her pick out plushies to give to corpsegrinder. one night she goes to a taylor swift concert and rushes out at the end to make it to sanguisugabogg in time. she's also a big female-rage/female-led fan (fem supporting fem yk how it is). if there is even a single fem-presenting band member she is instantly ride-or-die (within reason, of course). any time conquer divide/castrator/cyrpta do an eu tour she essentially becomes a roadie.

george. oh, george. my beloved kin. the only one who understands me and i him. his taste in rock and metal is... i don't know a better way to describe it other than neurodivergent fruity. it needs to have some kind of element to it that he can latch onto other than just the music - costumes, over-the-top production, detailed lore, etc. like lockwood, he doesn't really care about the subgenre; as long as he likes the sound he'll listen. he tends to frequent more of the nu/prog/melodic/symphonic side of metal, though. he's your average autistic ghost fan and makes it everyone else's problem. he knows all the lore and has dedicated his life to every incarnation of papa (primo is his favorite but he loves them all). he can tell the ghouls in every era apart in an instant and is a consistent quintessence ghoul kinnie. he will not hesitate to get into twitter beef to defend his opinions (bro's in the trenches of toxic ghostwt). he's one of the most well-known ghost accounts on every social media platform and actively writes fanfiction (about the characters, NOT the real people), character analyses, and essays. he's also a HUGE sleep token fan (he understands their lore better than vessel himself and has created a youtube commentary channel just to break down each of their songs) and ice nine kills fan (he's a number one ricky armellino lover and has forced lockwood and lucy to watch all of the horror movies that the silver scream one and two are based off of). he loves avatar and made his own ringmaster costume (lucy walked in on him trying to recreate johannes's makeup and slowly backed out of the room; the situation was never mentioned again) and when chris motionless unveiled his new hair he screamed so loud that the others thought someone had broken into portland row (lockwood had to restrain him while lucy hid his laptop to prevent him from ordering purple hair dye). he has a ziplock bag of (definitely expired) marshmallows that he calls his “rammstein concert care package.” he pretends to be a gatekeeper but the instant someone mentions even a passing interest in any of his favorite bands he will burst into tears.

Miphlink: A accident move

This is a entry for @miphlinkweek event Miphlink week 2023 and a double one for the prompts of day 3, rumors and oops.

Mipha is glad to see Link get along with the Zora children during his stay at Zora's Domain, as the Hylian champion would play with them as Princess Zelda were busy studing Vah Ruta, trying to understand how the divine beast works. It is moments like this that Mipha wonder if this is foreshadowing a possible future for Link and her.

After some time playing, the children are send home, leaving Link and Mipha to themselves, along with the roar of the waterfalls as the only noises. Link start saying to Mipha, with him unsure how to put it, "So.... it's good to see you again, Mipha." and Mipha reply, "The same to you, Link." As the hero start looking around, he notice a Star Fragment landed on the cliff above them, and Link said, "Ah, a Star Fragment! I hear that Great Fairies can used it to increase the protection of our clothes, so I will go get it so I can be better safe."

Link start climbing the rock wall, only for a loose rock to cause him to fall. Fortunately, Link didn't fall from high fall, but Mipha quickly move to catch him, which landed Link on top of the princess. The two friends freeze at this surprise turn of events and look at each other until the voice of Kodah call out, "Linny! The princess want to...." which the girl Zora stop when she see Link on top of Mipha, both teenagers look at the poor girl, as Kodah said in shock over what her young mind is making her think what she just saw, "Linny and Lady Mipha... You... You two are doing smooches together!" Kodah run off and Link get off of Mipha, which she quickly got up and try to said to the girl, "Little one, it's not what it look like!"

Fortunately for the two champions, the mistake only spread to the children, whose were quite surprised about the two kissing when they were not around. Link and Mipha however were ashamed over what happen at the hill tops and how it got a bit out of hand.

Edward Helps Out

A/N: Didn't feel like making a title card for this, sorry!

A little while after Mr. Conductor told Matt about Thomas, he told him a story about another really useful blue engine: Edward.

One day, Edward was in the shed-house where he lived with the other engines. They were all bigger than Edward and boasted about it.

"The driver won't choose you again," said Gordon. "He wants strong engines like us." But the driver and fireman felt sorry for Edward.

"Would you like to come out today?" asked Edwards driver. "Oh yes, please." said Edward. Edward took off his polo-shirt, so they could open a valve in his chest to light the fire. Edward made lots of steam and skated away.

The other engines were very cross at being left behind. Edward worked hard all day. The jewelpets thought he was very kind and the driver was very pleased.

"I'm going out again tomorrow," Edward told the other engines that night, while reading Pride and Prejudice. "What do you think about that?"

But he didn't hear what they thought, for he was so tired and happy that he fell asleep right away on the couch, in his cozy blue pyjamas.

The next morning, Edward woke up to find nothing had changed. Gordon was still boasting. Stan, Kenny, Eric and Kyle from South Park were watching them (IDK WHY THEY'RE IN THIS OMG).

Kenny: Mmmmhhhhmm.

Stan: Yeah Kenny you're right, the big blue robot guy with the cross is being egotistical!

Eric: Really guys? C'mahn dis guy gets me.

Kyle: Shut up Cartman.

"You watch me, little Edward, as I rush through with the express. That will be a splendid night for you. Goodbye, little Edward. Look out for me this afternoon."

Edward went out to jump rope with the freight car boys. He liked jumping rope. It was fun playing with them. One car held one end of the rope, and the other car held the other end so Edward could hop over.

"Oh!" they cried. "Whatever is happening?"

Edward played until the freight cars were worn out. Then he stopped to rest. Presently, he heard a whistle. Gordon was very cross. Instead of pulling shiny new coaches, he was pulling a very dirty freight train.

"A goods train, a goods train, a goods train!" he grumbled. "The shame of it, the shame of it, oh, the shame of it!"

Stan: Sucks to be you I guess.

Edward laughed and went to find some more freight cars. Then, there was trouble.

"Gordon can't get up the hill," Linny the guinea pig, Tuck the turtle, and Ming-Ming the duckling called to Edward's driver. They were the wonder pets, and they were here to save the day! "Will you take Edward and push him please?"

They found Gordon halfway-up, and very cross. His driver and fireman were talking to him severely.

"You're not trying."

"I can't do it!" said Gordon. "The noisy freight cars are breaking my back!"

Edward's driver came up. "We've come to push."

"No use at all!" said Gordon.

"You wait and see," replied Edward's driver. They brought the train back to the bottom of the hill.

"I'm ready." said Edward.

"No good." grumbled Gordon. They pulled and pushed as hard as they could. "I can't do it, I can't do it, I can't do it!" puffed Gordon.

"I will do it, I will do it, I will do it!" puffed Edward. Edward pushed and puffed and puffed and pushed as hard as he ever could. And almost before he realized it, Gordon found himself at the top of the hill.

"I've done it, I've done it, I've done it!" Gordon said proudly. He forgot all about kind Edward and didn't say thank you. Edward was left out of breath and far behind, but he was happy because he had been so helpful. At the next station, he found that the driver and fireman were very pleased with him. The fireman gave him a nice long drink and the driver said . . .

"I'll give you a beautiful new polo shirt and shorts. Then you'll be the smartest engine in the shed."

I wrote a ficlet and never got around to replying and posting it, so here we are. This is childhood gen and not really shippy- but that's what came to my brain :P

STRAWBERRIES AND TOES

"And Fwoopers can- can swoop down and their feathers are special colors," Luna said with a great deal of authority for a five year old.

"Hmm," Ginny replied, much more interested in the lean-to she'd constructed. The blonde girl had been talking about animals for ages. Ginny wasn't even sure Luna was talking to her as she'd been staring at her rather ugly Erumpent stuffed toy the entire time

"And if you, if you follow Faerie lights to their nests and they, and they find you, you get one wish."

"A wish?" asked Ginny, turning away from her structure. "What kind of wish?"

"Oh yes," said Luna, solemnly stroking her Erumpent. "But if you, if you get a wish you lose two toes."

"No you don't," Ginny huffed, grabbing a rather large branch. It moved no more than an inch before it caught on something and refused to budge.

Keep reading::

"Two of the toes on your left foot," Luna repeated.

"Faeries don't give wishes."

"They do."

"No. If they did my Mummy would've wished us more money. My Mummy wouldn't have toes if we could do that."

"You can't wish for, for money with Faeries. They do other kinds of stuff."

"Like what?"

"Like to have good beans. Or to, or to have toast that never burns. Or to have strawberries."

"I do like strawberries."

"Let's follow some Faeries."

Luna said she spotted one further down the little hill near the creek. Ginny hadn't seen one, but Luna seemed to know more about Faeries than she.

"That's a faerie nest," said Luna, poking a thing that looked like a moss ball.

"We should wish for strawberries."

Luna nodded at that, and started to do a funny dance.

"You need to, to close your eyes and wish like on birthdays."

She started humming and Ginny joined her. Before long the two were giggling and turning circles until they were dizzy.

Ginny laughed as she stumbled about, finally tripping and falling onto the soft grass. She let out a gasp when she spotted, just under a small bush, a perfectly tiny wild strawberry patch.

"Luna! Our wish!"

The two rushed over to the bush and quickly devoured the small amount of red fruit, leaving their chins and hands stained.

"I'm sticky," Ginny pouted going to the creek to wash her hands.

The two followed the creek tossing bits of grass, watching as the gentle current spun the blades around in little circles here or there. 

Ginny saw a wondrous big rock in the creek and attempted to jump to it. She fell just short, left foot striking the rock with a splash. Ginny fell and stared in shock.

“The faeries!” Luna cried, patting Ginny on the head in comiseration as she pointed to the blood gushing forth from her friend’s two toes.

Sob wracked Ginny as she bemoaned the loss of her two toes.

This is how Mrs Lovegood found them. She carried Ginny inside and tended to her feet as the girls told the pitiful tale of the how the faeries had made Ginny trade her toes for strawberries. No matter how the mother attempted to assuage the girls fears, and Mrs Lovegood pointed out the toes were very much there and that faeries wouldn’t trade in toes for a handful of strawberries, the girls were unconvinced.

“They might not have gotten the toes yet, but they will,” Luna announced.

“They have a taste for my blood!” Ginny added, just as certain.

Mrs Lovegood grabbed the bloody cloth she’d been dabbing Ginny’s foot with and led them all outside to a faerie circle.

She began to dance a wondrous dance that left the girls gaping and jealous at how she so elegantly did the ‘grapevine’ and the ‘mashed potato.’

With great flourish she waved the bloody cloth in the air.

“Ohhh, great faeries of the creek! We kindly beseech ye to show mercy on this wee girl. She didna ken your great power. Please accept her blood sacrifice to you in return for your most delicious strawberries. If you accept this offering, we ask you give us a sign!”

She waved the cloth vigorously, then her solemn face shifted to annoyed.

“Faeries, we would like you to give a SIGN to the LITTLE GIRLS so they KNOW that the TOES willna be TAKEN,” she declared to the garden. “NOW!”

A few moments later a small rainbow appeared a few feet away from Mr Lovegood.

“Ack! There is the sign we were looking for!” The girls applauded and grasped eachother in glee. Mrs Lovegood gave Mrs Lovegood a hearty punch in the arm, muttering, “You told them they took toes? Really? The faeries certainly took their time with that sign.”

When Ginny’s Mum arrived she was told the harrowing tale, and as Ginny took her afternoon nap she dreamt of the next great adventures she’d take with her friend Luna.
