Omori tickles are epic and all but y’know what would be epic? Emori tickles! (The AU made by Shrimperini)
For example Emori Aubrey is pretty much the mediator of the group, making sure Sunny, Basil and Kel don’t fight eachother or dumb dumb crap, but imagine if she does this by absolutely destroying them with tickles?
Like Aubrey thinks Basil might be hiding Marijuana from her and so playfully interrogates him through giggles and laughter, pushing him onto the ground to absolutely destroy rip funny weed man, and like a tickle fight begins for the two of them but Basil almost always loses because he loves her!
However when he and Aubrey are hanging out maybe he just… randomly decides to gently tickle her, and like she squeals so adorably and says that’s really mean and he’s all like, “If it’s mean why ain’t you fighting back and fully embracing the laughter?” ;) and then she does then fight back and they just have a tickle fight but actually not because they don’t at all resist the giggles they cause eachother.
For Sunny and Kel perhaps the two are like… being really tsundere to eachother more than usual and Aubrey acts as the “mediator” mediator as in she absolutely WRECKS them with tickles! Sunny just takes it as he struggles to keep away a smile and giggle and Kel is full on flailing and swearing loudly at her and she’s all like “Sorry besties, I’ll only stop if the two of you hug and make up!” ;D
Also goth Mari… I think she’d find it very funny to just one day silently approach Sunny without his knowledge… and then go full silly ler goth mode and tickle him, soothingly reassuring him to not hold back his true feelings and laughter and him just doing that and laughing adorably, in contrast to his emo knife wielding persona he makes for himself! Also does that for Aubrey only she acts a little more rough tickling as she is more used to that compared to Sunny.
Hero…… uhhh idk I think he’d loath tickling of all types, with the possible exception being his girlfriend Mari. Like maybe when he’s stressed out studying Mari decides it’s to get playful and tickle him gently, causing him to snort in laughter and flail onto the ground in complete shock. (The good kind.) Mari is the only person he’ll allow to tickle him but he never tickles back because he thinks she wouldn’t like it. (She would love it actually and he’d love it too due to her cute laughter.)
You’d think emo Sunny wouldn’t like tickling but he love it just ans much and og Sunny, especially when it comes to destroying his best friends Basil and Kel. He doesn’t try with Aubrey as she’s the tickling extraordinaire and would casually destroy him in a tickling match. Basil and Sunny have a tickle fight with eachother as besties, but Kel is literally unable to tickle back against anyone and his flustered swearing is very funny and adorable to Sunny.
Speaking of Kel, he pretends so hard to not like tickling at all but actually…… he absolutely loves it. He never fights back being tickled but that’s only because he’s too shocked to do so, and he usually starts tickling others if they anger him too much… those people being Sunny and Aubrey. Unlike with Sunny he will tickle Aubrey, (Usually justifying it by saying she’s obnoxious but the reality is he wants to make her laugh.) but Aubrey always successfully fights back and DESTROYS him! And for Sunny… well he especially loves tickling him, though he struggles to stop himself from smiling as he doesn’t want his tough delinquent boy persona to be broken and get teased on by Sunny.
What do you think of the Emori tickle dynamics?
Oh my gosh, words are too little to express how much lovely this is! Emori is one of my favorite aus and to see all the silly, playful tickle dynamics here just make my heart sing ♡♡♡♡
Aubrey and Basil's tickle fights seems so adorable and niceeeee. The random attacks and gently tickles are just chef kiss fabulous to me, ya know? Also Aubrey trying to make Kel and Sunny get along by tickling them is so funnnnn x3
Kel and Sunny secretly loving tickling but trying to hide it is very sweet, also! Not to mention the way that Sunny let's himself go around Mari. P R E C I O U S
And the fact that Hero loves tickling when it comes to his gf ♡♡♡♡♡ cute cute cuteeeee

Gavin/Guy 😉 throw FL and/or Honey in there if you like, or— your thoughts on FL/Honey?
So Gavin/Guy would be really fun, considering Guy first met/encountered Gavin at some person's house with his shirt off. And Gavin proceeded to not tip him. So, like, that's a bit of an unconventional start. But we also learn from Guy that Gavin has tipped ever since that first time, so that's good!
With the first encounter we saw between Guy and Gavin being our only real metric for how Guy interacts with Gavin-y people, for lack of a better term at the moment, there's not a huge amount to work from. That said, Guy is definitely flirty and silly, and I can see Gavin vibing really well with that. Their relationship would be a constant back and forth of flirting and teasing, and it would be absolutely beautiful.
Gavin is used to sex being something expected of him. I can't imagine he'd be used to giggly, sweet, loving sex. I think it would be incredibly refreshing for him to be able to be intimate with someone without having any kind of big expectations behind anything. Like, Guy is a human who was, up until he and Gavin got together, uninformed. He doesn't have those preconceived ideas of what an incubus is supposed to be like, aside from mythology and fantasy. Guy wouldn't need much convincing to see that Gavin isn't like fantasy incubi. He'd see him for the kind, loving man he is, and he'd appreciate all of him. Guy is good at reading people. We see that in his interactions with Honey. He doesn't want them to change the way they show their love to him, even if it's unconventional. I'd imagine the same would go for Gavin.
As for Freelancer and Honey, that's a little less cut and dry. Freelancer is a workaholic, they always put others before themself, and they have an incredible ability to get people to open up in ways they usually don't. Honey, from what little we know so far, is a tsundere, presumably more closed-off with their emotions, and (affectionately) a bit of a hardass. Freelancer, again, is good at getting people to open up. If anyone can break through Honey's shell (other than literal golden retriever boy Guy), it's Freelancer.
Honey strikes me as the kind of person to lay down across Freelancer's lap when they're overworking and demand their attention like a grouchy cat, if only to get their mind off of their work for a bit. They know telling Freelancer to take a break won't do much, so they take matters into their own hands. If Freelancer sees that Honey wants attention, they'll give it to them. They use that fact to get them to take care of themself. They'd be really sweet together, even if the pairing might seem unconventional.

lulu does flash reviews again
hey it’s been a while since i did one of these, anyway i just finished Princess Connect and I have some Thoughts so this is genuinely just me rambling about it
So, Princess Connect Re:Dive. It’s essentially a 12 episode long commercial for the associated role playing mobile game.  It follows the adventures of the Gourmet Guild, a group of four adventurers whose goal is to investigate and enjoy the various foods of their fantasy world.
The Guild is made up of Yuuki, ostensibly our protagonist: a somewhat blank-slate sort of character who’s obviously supposed to be whoever your face character in the mobile game is, but who is actually, surprisingly, rather charming. He has lost his memories after some unknown battle he participated in with a bunch of former party members, and tends to respond to things in monosyllables, preferring instead to communicate with thumb’s ups and “mn!” in most cases. Despite this, he seems to be a very sweet boy who cares about his friends and is eager to do his best.  Personally, I found him to be kind of a breath of fresh air in terms of male protagonists of fantasy shows otherwise populated by women.  There’s not a single bit of “lucky pervert” tropes, he doesn’t seem at all interested in pursuing or flirting with any of the other girls, and only one of the girls is interested in him romantically. He’s generally pretty straightforward and good-hearted, so at worst I could call him boring - but even so, again, I found him charming.
Next is Kokkoro, an elf from a small village sent by someone who appears to be a goddess of some kind to find Yuuki and assist him as he recovers his memories. Kokkoro is, in a word, cute. She’s the only member of the cast who is interested in Yuuki romantically.  Despite this happening immediately after she meets him, it sort of makes some sense to me, since she’s clearly been taught that he’s a special and important person whom she is duty-bound to serve, so it makes sense to me that she would hold him in high regard - and since he’s just genuinely so...genuine, it makes sense that it wouldn’t take long for a more sheltered girl to develop feelings for him. And, happily, she has a personality outside of this attraction as well: she’s reliable, patient, and good at sewing, and she enjoys spending time with the rest of the guild.  Her silly faces she makes every time Yuuki gets chewed on by a wolf are hilarious, too.
Third up is Pecorine, who, while Yuuki is supposedly the protagonist, is pretty much set up to be the real protagonist of the show. Pecorine is not-so-subtly secretly the princess of this fantasy world, Landosol, however, it appears for some reason someone else is acting as ruler. Pecorine is ridiculously strong, ridiculously peppy, and always hungry. She’s literally made of nothing but love, joy, and excitement for whatever the next day will bring. She’s always helping people and seems to consider making others happy to be her life goal, alongside eating lots of yummy food. Everyone she encounters eventually becomes her best friend, even when they start off by trying to steal from her. She’s straightforward, doesn’t seem to notice when people don’t have her best interests in mind, and yet, beneath that, she is extremely lonely and vulnerable. If you couldn’t tell, she’s far and away my favorite character of the show.
And finally, there’s Karyl: a cat girl who is, in my opinion, the perfect example of a cat girl. She’s initially a loner who doesn’t see the need for friends, and is, apparently, supposed to assassinate Pecorine. As Pecorine doesn’t notice, she quickly inducts Karyl as her new girlfriend best friend, and Karyl, for all of her tsundere, don’t-touch-me cat vibes, absolutely starts falling for Pecorine’s kindness back.  While she’s the one to call out the guild’s stupid plans and ideas, she generally ends up joining in on the shenanigans, much to her eternal chagrin.
So, I don’t mean to make this just a description of the show, because I do have thoughts and opinions, but I felt like setting up my feelings on the main cast was important before I got into the details of the show itself.  From this point forward, there will be spoilers.
So, what this show does right:
As I mentioned in my talk about Yuuki, in terms of “1 male protagonist surrounded by girls”, it’s a relief to watch a show where the main cast is just all a bunch of good friends and they’re not just all hanging on the bland main character.  Each of the cast is given their own time to develop their own personalities both with each other and outside of each other, and they’re all, genuinely, rather endearing.  There are two characters who show up later who are a bit annoying about their care over Yuuki (calling themselves his big and little sister respectively), but since they aren’t main cast members and connect the show to a larger “what happened before this?” narrative, I didn’t mind it so much.  Plus, despite a cast of all girls in a mobile game, outside of a few skimpy outfits and Pecorine’s occasional boob jiggle, there wasn’t a SINGLE bit of fanservice, which shocked me for this genre. No upskirts, no accidental boob touches, no lewd comments or innuendos.  I was floored, and in a good way.
The character design really isn’t bad for a show based on a mobile game. Characters are distinct in design and personality. The best design is, of course, the girl who is Just a Llama.
I actually really liked being thrown into this world where it was very obvious that something had already happened Before, but you were only given pieces of it.  It built a very intriguing premise by starting us off seemingly after the climactic battle goes wrong, and adds a sense of unease here or there about knowing that something is a little bit off, but you don’t quite know what.  Not getting all of the answers at the end of the show wasn’t a dealbreaker, either, because I knew I wouldn’t going in - it’s a mobile game show. The story is still going in the mobile game, so they won’t play all their cards in the adaptation.
Karyl and Pecorine are definitely the main characters of the show, and while I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, their story very much feels like a love story, and I just really, really enjoyed that for what I expected to see going in, I instead got two girls who were allowed to have a complicated and yet very sweet relationship that developed slowly over the series into a truly beautiful climax.  Speaking of Pecorine, as well, I have to give some props to the plot twist about her character. It was obvious to me for a while that she was the princess of Landosol, and I assumed that her parents were dead.  I kept wondering why she was leaving her people to the whims of her impersonator instead of taking back her throne, and it was something that sort of bothered me throughout her seemingly cheerfully ignoring what her usurper was doing to her kingdom.  Finding out that the fake princess had, in fact, simply replaced Pecorine with herself in everyone’s memories, leaving Pecorine with no idea what to do and deciding to disappear knowing that even her own parents didn’t remember her as their daughter was a shocking, and powerful, plot twist.
When it’s good, it’s really good.  There are some genuinely heartfelt and powerful moments.  The animation is surprisingly good, beautiful to watch especially during fight scenes.  The final scene especially with its emphasis on Karyl and Pecorine really touched me, as it was clear they put a lot of effort into just the last few frames to make it really touching.
And here’s what this show does wrong:
When I said that when it’s good, it’s really good, the same can be said that when it’s bad, it’s bad.  The main problem with this show is that it wants to be everything.  It wants to be a comedy.  It wants to be a drama.  It wants to have deep character drama and heartfelt moments.  It wants to have intense battles and evil villains alongside a story about four friends making sandwiches out of monster meat.  The comedy bits and drama bits are both solid enough on their own, but smushed together, it makes for a tonally dissonant show that cheapens some of the more heartfelt moments.
The show takes way too long to even get into its main conceit, too.  I think it wasn’t until episode 4 that they started their Gourmet Guild - and then even after that, the food hunting sort of disappeared in a lot of episodes so that you kind of forgot what their goals even were.  And even when the food episodes happened, they almost felt like filler.  Because of the show’s lack of focus, it was hard to truly enjoy any part of it.
And I cannot forget to mention that though I praised the character design in the good stuff section, there were some...concerns.  Episode 3 introduces a fatphobic, borderline racist design. He is shown as cruel, violent, gleefully mean, and morbidly obese in a cast that is otherwise made up of skinny characters.  And worse, he’s the only brown character in a sea of pale, white-coded characters.  His appearance in episode 3 almost made me stop watching.  He showed up briefly in several more episodes after this, and it sucked every single time.  Despite a lot of the other things I loved about this show, I really cannot recommend it to anyone with a clean conscience just because of this character. He’s distressing and uncomfortable to me, so I can’t imagine how a POC might feel while watching it.
Genuinely, if even one or two of their “here’s a cute girl” designs had been Black or brown, I would have felt way better.  But the juxtaposition of this guy being the only dark skinned character in the show combined with his abhorrent personality just really, really distresses me, and I think it’s a warning that people should be aware of before giving it a try.
That being said, overall, I don’t think Princess Connect Re:Dive was a bad show.  As I said, there was a lot of elements I enjoyed, and I will probably go look and see if there’s any Karyl/Pecorine art out there, and since the app is Japanese only, I might even go and read the continued plot somewhere.
So this wasn’t much of a “flash review”, I had a lot to say, I guess lol.  Anyway, if anyone else watched it, please let me know what you thought~ I’d be interested to hear anyone else’s take.  For my part, I’ll give Princess Connect a solid 6/10.

Qian Kun, our lord and savior
Okay,,, listen,,, Kun deserves better, SM bring him out of the dungeon. I’m patiently waiting for NCT China’s debut,,,,
It’s hard finding Kun fanfics, so here’s a list of some good ones! I hope you like them too. Kun is an angel, change my mind.
Piano forte by lunalius on ao3
Summary: Johnny and his friends are going to do all it takes for Jaehyun to build his courage and ask Sicheng out. And while doing that Johnny might discover someone who inspires him to pick himself up.
So, we’ve got a side dish of good ol’ JaeWin, but JohnKun is the main ship, I swear! It’s super cute, though the summary kinda made me skeptical, I thought it was really cute! There’s a minuscule amount of angst, but its backstory “when I was a young boy this crap happened” kind of angst. It’s adorable, though.
A October Breeze by Cherubpathy on ao3
Summary: Every one thinks Johnny is a bad boy, but Kun discovers that he's more than the rumours people say about him.
The title has a spelling mistake, I know, it’s how the author put it in, the story is amazing, though, I promise! It’s a really good one with a mostly realistic relationship development. There’s some angst, but no relationship angst. I thought it was really, really cute, and also Kun’s there, so that’s a box checked already :,,)
and you’re a tease by sunnyjeno on ao3
Summary:  Kun is stressed about the coronation. Dongyoung is having none of it.
So this is a, as you can see, Kun and Doyoung pairing, but honestly, you could take their relationship either way. Also, there’s bits of Chenle and Johnny (not in a relationship, it’s okay) and they’re hilarious.
Sweet Talk by VeeTheSheep on ao3
Summary: Fridays were "gush about Kun in english" date nights. or so they thought.
This is poly JohnTenKun, so if you’re not into that, this won’t be you’re thing. It’s a super cute, semi-short one shot that’s just complete fluff with a bit of Kun teasing JohnTen at the end. It’s really cute, honestly.
I’ll call her Mina by tennisuhs on ao3
Summary: Kun is working on his thesis and Taeyong is on his way to become a very important chef. At the doors of proper adulthood, with questions no one prepared them for and situations that weren't on the books, the couple just go through life like two fish in a pond.
Or where Taeyong makes food for everyone since it's mid-terms season, and Kun loves his boyfriend to bits.
Even though the title mentions a Mina, there’s no Mina in the story? Unless I’m forgetting something. But it’s a really good, cute one. Just TaeKun being domestic and adorable, and Taeyong making a ton of food. It’s really good, go give it a try!
Warm by criesmom on ao3
Summary:  Johnny didn't expect to meet the love of his life in Ten's bathroom
This one is hilarious? Or the part where they meet in the bathroom is. It’s really short, not much too it, but it’s cute and fluffy with no angst.
a piece of (gluten free) cake by umiwomitai on ao3
Summary: Kun is the nicest neighbour Johnny and Yoonoh have ever had. He never complains about the noise, isn't noisy himself, and most of all, always gives them leftovers of whatever food he makes. Really, how could someone not fall for him?
This is exactly what Johnny wonders as he bites into a slice of (gluten free) chocolate pie, totally not falling for his Chinese neighbour.
This is an amazing one. Like, 10/10 love it, go be a confident gay Kun, I love this one a lot. It’s one of my favorites. I can’t really explain why, but you’ll like it too! hopefully... It’s, I’m pretty sure, angst free.
hannah montana by sunnyjeno on ao3
Summary: Kun and Doyoung used to be friends during their awkward preteen years. Everything changed when they entered high school, but the feelings they shared for each other just grew. Will they finally get it together in time for their last homecoming ball?
Another Doyoung Kun from sunnyjeno! It’s a cute one, but it’s open ended, so they don’t get together (though it’s implied they do) but it’s overall really cute.
Cardiac Arrest by lunalius on ao3
Summary: Kun is concerned about the regular that shows up at least five times a day to order a double strength large long black. Or he's attracted to him. Or both.
Oh boy, do I have a lot to say about this. I’ll start this speech off by saying that whoever lunalius is, they’re amazing and I would die for them. I’ll continue it by saying this is an emotional rollercoaster. It’s Angst with a Happy Ending in a nutshell with that perfect bit of humor. It’s beautiful, it should be printed and sold and I would buy it and read it every day, that’s how much I love it. It’s a lengthier one, almost 15,000 words (which isn’t the longest I’ve read, but it’s still lengthy for a one-shot). I should mention that it’s a JohnKun story, too. It’s beautiful. Like, 100/10 good. I really, really liked it.
my answer is you by gabilliam (vvhymack) on ao3
Summary: kuntober week i ; prompt ; I went to water my plants on the balcony and you’re on yours with a tinfoil hat, what the hell are you doing?
My God, here come all of the lengendary fanfictions. Two favorites in a row. This one is funny, with only a little bit of pining angst in it. It’s hilarious and also includes a gat, which is always amazing. It’s a rarer pair, JaeKun, but I enjoyed it, and, it’s honestly just amazing. It’s super cute.
wedding bells by _helios (neocitz) on ao3
Summary: Lucas gets roped into helping his boyfriends plan their wedding.
(He, unfortunately, never caught onto the fact that they proposed to him.)
It’s poly Jungwoo-Lucas-Kun, but anyway... So... Angst. Capital ‘A’ Angst. It’s mostly sad, but that’s what makes the ending so much happier. I don’t want to give it away so I won’t say anymore, but just be prepared for angst.
Brass by 11dishwashers on ao3
Summary: Kun has a hard time dealing with his new boss Sicheng, who's a literal model.
Winwin is a model and beautiful, Kun works for him and is also beautiful, the rest of the ‘96 liners show up, it’s beautiful. Also a bonus, pretty minimal angst.
Happenstance by lunalius on ao3
Summary: Johnny, single father of one, gets another parent to look after Donghyuck in the playground while he has to rush home on a work errand. And Donghyuck makes a new friend.
Guess whose back.... back again... lunalius is back.... tell your friends.... This one has minimal-ish angst. I say -ish because its between minimal and medium angst, so. Forewarning. It’s very cute, Kun’s son is Chenle, and it’s beautiful. There’s not much I can say without giving everything away, but it’s also a good one.
serendipity by cameldreams on ao3
Summary: johnny can't sleep
That’s it. That’s the fanfic. Johnny can’t sleep. Kun’s precious, what’s new.
it beats for you so listen close by heartsighed on ao3
Summary:  In which Johnny moonlights as Y, one half of the mysterious duo that runs the most popular radio program on campus, and Kun moonlights as Twitter user zhoujielunshusband96, dedicated Jay Chou fanboy.
Medium angst. That’s all there is to this. Medium angst. It’s really good and cute, would definately reccomend (though ig that’s what I’ve been doing this whole time).
kun’s flirting 101 by timelessidyll on ao3
Summary: Sicheng, naturally, was a more introverted person. Part of that was because of his intense hatred of cute and silly things, and the other part was that he hated almost 90% of the people he met. He made sure to consistently remind Chittaphon and Kun that he, at most, tolerated them. The thing about Sicheng was that everything needed to align perfectly for him to really enjoy something. He had to have a good mood, be around Kun or Chittaphon, and be doing something not silly. That led to to the question: What was Kun trying to accomplish?
Length summary, lol. It’s a really cute, fairly short one full of terrible puns (that gives a little too much away, though). No angst, just Sicheng being tsundere.
maybe I could hold you? by edgeplay on ao3
Summary: Yuta's always had bright ideas, this one takes the whole cake though.
Okay, listen. I ship YuWin pretty hard, but this got me into YuKun. Yuta and Kun? Not a pairing I’ve ever imagined, but god damn this is so good! It starts as your typical ‘fake dating’ story troupe, but I like the way it ends so much. I’m literally in love with this! Read it. Do it.
cut through the clouds by heartsighed on ao3
Summary: Qian Kun, microbiology major, vice-president of the ISA, part-time poster model and full-time mom friend, is perhaps more stressed than he would like everyone to think.
heartsighed on a roll man! This is a DoTenKun poly ship story, don’t like, don’t read. It’s very good, with a lower case ‘a’ angst. There’s a good amount of angst, but it’s not capital ‘A’ angst. So, I hope you understood that.
What the Spring? by haknyeonsmrjoo on ao3
Summary: Winwin keeps a photo of Kun on his phone, and the next thing he knows, Kun has Winwin's phone in his hand.
This was actually one of my first NCT fanfics ever! I thought it was the cutest on Earth. I’m a bit biased though, and you’re only gonna hear me say this once, but I’m Chinese and I’m mostly biased toward Chinese kpop stars because, hey! How do I watch Chinese idols from America? Answer, I don’t. It’s easier to access kpop... :,,,) This a short oneshot, very cute and fluffy
That’s it! hope you enjoyed it, and stan our king Qian Kun!

Please imagine me just delivering these on a platter to ur sickbed: akira, minako, ochako, iida, (tries to think of a marvel comic person) uhh flash
thank you, thank you. who needs cough medicine when you have shipping.
(edit: i’m 99% healthy. it took me that long to finish this mess.)
AKIRA: okay, i think i remember telling you how i was pretty chill with akira ships. like, if done right, i don’t mind any of them, except for futaba (because they’re siblings, fu). besides our collective issues with atlus and their inability to not be weird when it comes to the girls. also, i feel like what makes the p5 kids feel the most like actual friends is also what makes it harder for me to fully invest in any individual dynamic - they all meet throughout the course of the game (even ann and ryuji aren’t close friends beforehand, and there’s definitely no drama between them) and they help each other heal and get past their abusers so that they can have a fresh start and feel free to be normal teenagers. so there’s little to actually grab onto when searching for….anything layered? like, compared to the p3 kids who have so much inner turmoil that they take out on each other - or the p4 kids, who can’t be completely truthful to themselves or each other. the p5 kids do have baggage, but not with each other. which makes for healthier bonds but also more boring ship dynamics lmao. all very cute and fluffy, but not a lot of substance.
point is, i don’t really have much to say? like akira/yusuke is fun and silly. akira is eccentric and cool enough to go along with yusuke’s antics, and even though p5 always gives us an option to be mean, i can’t imagine akira ACTUALLY thinking that kind of stuff? like, he’s a weirdo too so he just. gets it. yusuke basically takes akira out on dates during his social link. they lend themselves well to model/artist headcanons and aus. they don’t realize they’re dating until a few months into their relationship - one of the others had to point it out and yusuke’s like ‘oh? is that what this is??’ and akira’s like ‘thank god’ bc he was too awkward to bring it up himself. futaba makes fun of them a lot.
akira and ryuji are cute too. i’ve gotten a bit fond of the boner squad (br)ot3 too. just ann/ryuji/akira being dumbasses. or ann/shiho+ryuji/akira being dumbasses while going on double dates. there’s also not really much to it - just the usual persona teen boy ‘no-homo-bromo-but-it’s-actually-homo’ fare. ryuji’s less possessive and repressed about it than yosuke is, though. which is good (ie more healthy) bc it’s more like akira found himself a human puppy jock boyfriend, and it’s cute! ryuji instantly decided he liked akira and started planning their secret handshake and selecting their cool delinquent hangout spot. and akira just smiles through it all bc he’s charmed. morgana gives akira the most judgemental stare ever when he finds out though.
i like akira/haru bc she’s who i dated in my playthrough. they’re soft and sweet and i think a slow relationship built on patience is good for both of them. and they have the most obvious phantom thief couple aesthetic, tbh. they also have the ‘demure wallflower by day, trigger-happy hellion by night’ thing going on. i love the idea of them opening up a coffee place together (their futures align! this is the SO that sojiro approves the fastest lbr!) and akira being haru’s trophy husband (let this man be someone’s trophy husband).
akira/goro’s the one with the most depth lmao as our boy akechi gets the short end of the stick re: what everyone else got - to defeat their abuser and come out the other side a new and improved person. INSTEAD, it’s all about deep-rooted envy and what-ifs. when i replayed p5 for my friend’s benefit, she kept being like ‘wow ok akechi’s got….the most obvious crush on mc. why is he always here? why does he talk like that? omg?’ and my sentiments exactly. AKIRA’S thoughts exactly, tbh, bc what else is he supposed to get out of some of the things that come out of goro’s mouth. but it’s like….he DOES like akira, but he also resents his existence because akira gets to have real bonds and happiness despite the crappy hand dealt to him. and their own bond is based on careful lies and observing each other for any cracks in their armour. but there’s that undertone of wishing that they’d met in other circumstances, where they COULD have a normal relationship and get to know each other in a way that’s not ‘we levelled up our relationship when you shot me in the face with the intent of murdering me and framing me for my own death but really, i tricked you and you didn’t actually kill me & now we can defeat you and your dad! ha! checkmate!!’ but i love that that’s actually part of the dynamic so lmao.
MINAKO: you know, despite minako and minato being considerably different (both their external personality/appearances > emo boy/preppy girl  - and the changes in their dialogue choices > again, minako is a lot more confrontational and energetic), i pretty much just ship them with the same people?
the only exceptions of this being i ship minako with shinjiro and yukari but can’t really fathom either of them with minato. (it’s bc yukari is a lesbian and shinji does not deal well with sullen people. like, what’s he supposed to do? pat minato on the back?)
i will also warn that it’s been….forever since p3 so i’m kinda fuzzy on details.
anywhoooooo, AIGIS. main protag ship is aigis. idc which protag, but i must give atlus my once-in-a-blue-moon compliment because they kept aigis’ social link and her blatantly romantic feelings for the protag the exact same in portable. so minako/aigis is just as canon as minato/aigis, buahaha. anyway. robot girlfriend who starts off being somehow programmed to feel protective/indebted to minako but then starts developing real genuine feelings as she explores her humanity, minako wanting to show aigis how to enjoy herself while putting the emphasis on aigis’ feelings and opinions but also being so amazed and grateful for aigis’ love and attention. also, the difference between protags here being that while minato is silently intimate, minako is loudly loving. the utter tragedy that is aigis not being able to save the person she cares about, the imagery of minako’s head in her lap while they wait for the end is….A Lot. i think in a lot of tragic robot/human romance fiction, the robot gives up its life for their human partner so i like the reverse here - with aigis having to experience the emotions of loss and depression and overcoming that because she truly loved mina(k/t)o and now they’re gone. it’s heavy! it’s a lot! i just remembered i never finished the p3 movies! i should do that!
there’s ryouji. again, don’t care which protag - just like the idea of our mc flirting with death. literally flirting with the avatar of death. the double sides of the ship: goofy teenage flirting vs warning of impending doom. ryouji just being like ‘yeah just kill me it’s for the best i’m actually here to destroy the world or w/e’ to his gf (or bf) out of nowhere on christmas eve lmao. it’s fun, idk.
yukari! honestly, taking out all the forced hetero ship teasing made me ship her with minako more lmao their social link was just better! no offense! and their personalities mesh better too - i feel like yukari would get way too frustrated with a closed-off partner and i love concept of: the huffy takes-no-shits girl being soft for her cheerful outgoing gf. also, i spent way too long imagining the answer with minako - the aigis/minako/yukari would be heartwrenching and we deserve it.
shinjiro! can i start off by saying it’s a good thing shinji was in p3, which did the best job of showing the characters apart from the protagonist and main plot (prob bc on the other hand, it did the worst job with social links seeing as none of the guys had them) - i feel like in p4 or p5, we wouldn’t have gotten to know him nearly as well before he died. anyway, his social link with minako is really sweet and a romance between them hits my ‘tsundere/flustered boy not knowing how to deal with affection from pretty girl he respects a lot’ checkpoints. and i need to talk about this: i feel like the decision to make him comatose instead of dead if you romance him was a double edged sword disguised as a blessing lol. because he was still DYING before he got shot, and also he wakes up just in time to find out his girlfriend died! fhdhfgdjd!
                      —————————————————————–
uraraka……okay: i ship her with tsuyu, bakugou, iida, mina and toga.
oh, here’s a story. before i got into bnha, i stumbled on a bunch of deku/uraraka amvs and they were so precious. like, really, deku and ochako are the cutest goddamn things in this series. seeing them side by side makes me want to channel my inner grandmother and pinch their cheeks. it was, like, the only thing i knew about bnha at first, so i just figured i’d end up shipping it whenever i eventually got to watching it bc i’m easy to please like that. but ha. nah. it’s sad bc i love their dynamic when it’s focusing on their actual friendship but then the actual romantic hints made me want to roll my eyes so hard. it’s so BORING if you take it at face-value, and i’m so boggled by it if you look deeper bc i don’t understand what hori’s planning here. it’s irritating bc even uraraka admits that her borderline obsession (and that’s what it is, since it’s compared to TOGA’S CRUSHES…y’know, our resident yandere serial killer?) is detrimental to her growth as a hero. and i know it’s partially bc she’s a teenager but its blown so out of proportion. it’s a crush!! relax!!! like, compare to deku’s crush on uraraka where after he got over his initial anxiety of talking to girls, he - at most - just blushes a little when she stands too close or dresses extra-cute. every other time, he treats her no differently than any of his other friends. but then uraraka’s crush is treated like. this weirdly twisted admiration she doesn’t even WANT. she relates to a villain’s desire to imitate and become the person they like, she gets ridiculously jealous every time he looks at another girl, she keeps fucking up because she focuses too much on him and how to be like him. it’s weird. idk. typical fiction tropes lead me to believe i’m supposed to root for them to get together (and bnha will end with an epilogue where they have a child named after a food) but the story i’m being told makes me want to root for uraraka to succeed at getting over those feelings! idfk!!!
also, i have to laugh at the way horikoshi decided to tell us and uraraka herself that these feelings were romantic. by having aoyama just be like ‘oh you were thinking what would izuku midoriya do? could it be you love him?’ when we see multiple male friends of deku’s (iida and todo, in particular - hell, even aoyama himself) have similar WWMD thoughts and he, in turn, instantly imitates bakugou whenever he hits a roadblock (taking inspiration from to downright copying bakugou’s moves, trash talking his opponents, etc). am i supposed to see only uraraka’s feelings as romantic? why? because she’s a girl and deku’s a guy?
i like it better when iida’s involved. both iida and uraraka are so sweet and enthusiastic to counter deku’s more nervous personality, and they’re a very good trio! i tend to prefer them as a brot3 but as i said, i do ship iida/uraraka seperately! i don’t have any big reasons for it except i enjoy how contagiously energetic and silly they are around each other? dramatic too - remember the ‘REACH FOR MY HAND’ scene when all the UA students were freaking out? it’s just a simple best friend dynamic like what they have with deku but there’s no weird one-sided jealousy/competitiveness involved (luckily, iida got over it after the stain arc haha). they don’t end up feeling bad or unworthy of the praise they get from the other - which is great, because they’re very complimentary towards each other! iida is so understanding (his immediate reaction to uraraka being self-conscious about her reason for pursuing heroism) & uraraka is usually the one who vocalizes how cool and talented iida is (while also giggling her ass off whenever he gets all extra-dramatic)! tbh, curse their aborted moment after iida’s match with mei! let them praise each other!!! i like that their seats are so close to each other too - i wonder how horikoshi decided on the seating plan. but uraraka’s tendency to shake iida by the shoulders is precious & i bet you he breaks his staunch ‘follow-every-rule’ mentality when it comes to uraraka writing him little notes in class. also, maybe uraraka just deserves a sweet+rich boyfriend. it’s that easy. lmao.
i already talked about bakugou/uraraka. it’s great, dripping with potential, needs more canon interaction. i only trust a portion of its fanbase to do them properly. but this is the case for almost every big ship. (where’s that one fandom meme where one of the questions was like ‘what do you hate seeing in fanfic/content for them’ bc NOW THAT I’M ACTUALLY READING FANFIC AGAIN, LEMME TELL YOU. BEING A MULTISHIPPER IS HARD.)
tsuyu and uraraka are just genuinely a good match? i like the contrast between uraraka - who is emotional and upbeat - and tsuyu - who is calm and rational. but they’re both very perceptive? their first night at the dorms is a good indicator of how their dynamic works. the others are quick to accept that tsuyu doesn’t want to play along with the room competition, but uraraka both provides the excuse and lingers behind with worry. she probably had to convince tsuyu that it was okay for her to vocalize her feelings to the bakugou rescue squad, and volunteered to be with her during said confrontation. compare to the forest where tsuyu sweetly and calmly offers uraraka her hand because she sees her friend is scared, without actually needing to say anything else. they’re sweethearts. i absolutely adore them. oh, and i dig their earth/sky + pink/green aesthetic clash.
uraraka and mina are based on two things: 1) they’re always hugging and hanging out in official art/sketches (mina even has a selfie of them hanging on her wall of pics in her room) so i can only assume they’re super-close gal pals that should kiss, 2) i love shipping silly idiots together and it’s hard to find ships like this that are f/f but these two fit that specific chaotic mold!!! and 3) AESTHETIC DREAM!!! PINK SPACE GIRLS!!!! DO I NEED ANY OTHER REASONS? NO. NO, I DO NOT.
HOLY SHIT, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT’S OFFICIALLY CANON THAT TOGA HAS A ROMANTIC CRUSH ON URARAKA? again, i could write an essay on coding and how frustrating it is for characters like toga to usually be bi/pan. but no one’s claiming this a win for rep. and i’m FASCINATED by this dynamic. toga loves stain-sama for his ideals and how that enables her nature to kill. she loves deku-kun out of curiousity for his ideals and the fact they met when he was beaten to a pulp lmao. and she loves ochako-chan because she sees herself in her - she thinks that they share ideals. again, i have no idea what the long-term meaning for this development is but it’s clearly pitting them against each other? and adding a romantic element to that is hmmmmmmmmm. we’ll see, we’ll see. and like i mentioned above, it’s shocking and worrying and makes me ship uraraka and toga more that uraraka ALSO sees the similarity between her and toga. she’s horrified by the implications of it but she hears toga’s spiel and tries to fruitlessly deny that ‘yeah, she’s right. that’s how i am. we’re the same.’ if i were to ever write a traitor!uraraka fanfic (which i would if i could ever FINISH a writing project), it’d be uraraka/toga and uraraka trying to convince herself she’s better than toga, that she still has a moral code and her reasons for joining the league have more weight to it, and she doesn’t!!! care!!! what toga thinks of her!!! and expecting a rivalry but toga doesn’t meet that head-on because instead, toga wants to be close and connected to uraraka. toga has this kind of mature soft side we’ve seen before (with twice) that shows how she can see you at your core (her fight w/ uraraka also showed that) and i want to see uraraka to be on the end when she thinks she doesn’t deserve it and doesn’t trust toga and just being frustrated and confused over it all.
                        —————————————————————–
iida…….i think deku, todoroki, uraraka and aoyama are my biggest ships for him. also, i don’t ship it myself but momo/iida/todoroki’s rich kid squad is A REALLY FUN DYNAMIC AND OT3.
LET’S BE REAL: IIDA/DEKU IS SO UNDERAPPRECIATED IN THIS FANDOM. ALL IIDA SHIPS ARE BUT….IIDA/DEKU. iida’s goddamn….tucked deku into bed. threw his hat in the ring of rivals. there’s official art of iida giving deku a shoulder ride. he punched him to make him see how his actions are affecting him - “haven’t you thought about how *I* feel [about you putting yourself in peril]?!” like. bro. okaaaay. i still laugh that they got on the wrong foot initially - deku was so scared of iida sjfhhf like he was equally worried he’d be stuck in the same class as iida as he was about kacchan. thankfully, iida’s a sweetheart who cares with all his heart, and he sees all that there is to admire about deku, so they became instant friends after that. and iida means SO MUCH to deku. i pay a lot of attention to how future!deku talks in his narration, because he normally interrupts the narrative to move the story along - by talking about minor time skips, the movement of the villains, etc. but he also tends to wax a bit poetic about his friends. like when he interrupted everything to give us a side-story about how and aoyama became bffs. so we can assume that aoyama’s friendship means a lot to adult izuku. or how comforting and important it is to me that even as an adult, he refuses to stop calling bakugou ‘kacchan’. it’s sweet. in that same vein, it strikes me that deku still holds an amount of guilt for not supporting iida better during the whole ingenium-stain debacle. it ended….much better than it could have, and that experience was what strengthened iida/deku/todo’s relationship. yet as an adult, deku still wishes he could have done more. offered iida the help he needed before he went rushing in. hoo. but anyway, yeah, they’re cute! wholesome nerd boys! cute height difference! also yeah, i’m glad that iida got over his sports-festival-era feelings of inferiority towards deku. deku loves competition, but you can tell that he didn’t want that out of his relationship with iida (compare to how he outright covets a rivalry with bakugou and accepted it from todoroki w/ his head held high). it wasn’t based on healthy feelings and they’re so much better as supportive bfs.
iida and todoroki have a lot of stuff in common as legacy heroes who were trained from childhood to be heroes - with the major difference that todoroki faced horrifying abuse that prevented him from having a close relationship with his siblings and made him want to reject his legacy, while the iidas are good folk and iida’s brother means the world to him and he’s so far one of the only heroes we know to reuse a superhero identity based on legacy. and even the painful bullshit (like the ‘take out your muffler and a new, stronger one will grow in’ thing) was something that iida went through on his own accord and with warning. and todoroki’s words of encouragement during the stain arc were based on his own life lesson! they both come off as very serious and abrasive elites at first glance, but they’re actually dorky and socially awkward! but i think they get each other - i imagine they have a very calming friendship, no need for pretenses and judgement, and they deserve that! they probably think the other is hilarious too even though absolutely no one else gets the joke! they had a lot of cute moments recently since they were paired in the same 1A vs 1B match. like iida can just…tell the minute differences in todoroki’s expression and demeanour apart and knows when there’s something wrong. and they’re just so humble and sweet and can’t handle the other being self-deprecating. they’re good boys, brent.
already talked about iida/uraraka. they’re cute, i love them.
AOYAMA THOUGH. knight boys! they were so good during the exam! it really got me that aoyama didn’t even consider the idea that iida might not abandon him, might want to help him and win together instead of just use him to get ahead himself - and iida didn’t even really get the emotional realization aoyama went through there but he was still like ‘YEAH WE DID GOOD! I’M GLAD YOU FEEL BETTER! THUMBS UP! :D’ they’re both very dramatic and - i don’t know how to describe it….they pose a lot, talk with their limbs. they’re silly, is what i mean. and maybe aoyama ALSO deserves a loving, rich boyfriend. MAYBE IIDA SHOULD BE EVERYONE’S LOVING RICH BOYFRIEND. but in this case, aoyama’s boyfriend who will carry him bridal-style everywhere, much to aoyama’s glee lol. except when he’s dragging him along via his cape. whatever works.
also, side note, i find it kinda interesting that fandom pairs him up with girls like mei and camie - when i just….feel like he’d be so out of his element and sooo overwhelmed? i’m wincing just thinking about it lol poor iida.
                        —————————————————————–
i’m glad you specified marvel bc if you’d just said ‘comic’, i would have assumed you meant THE flash and i would be forced to sit here and think of every dc speedster ship…..well, it wouldn’t be as bad as spidey ships (honestly i’m very basic with speedsters - it’s just like ‘speedster/their spouse’ with the adults (even wally - linda or bust, tbh) and ‘speedster/their best friends’ with the teens), but we’d be here longer.
BUT FLASH THOMPSON? i already mentioned my two big ones, with venom and peter but i’m def willing to talk more about them.
flash/venom, a man and his gooey alien husband. i love that it’s a relationship based on self-growth and healing from past hurt and stopping destructive habits and cycles (both that cause self-harm and harm onto others). one of my favourite panels is still where flash pleads with peter to not let his anger seep into venom because venom’s gotten past all that. he’s a better person (being. alien. thing.) now and doesn’t want to turn to feeding on rage ever again. and that’s true for flash (a victim of child abuse who bottled up all that sadness and rage and took his aggression out on other kids) as well. it’s just so….nice. and venom credits all this to flash. and a thing i find about venom is that its unhealthy dynamics are all about control - you’re just its host, it possesses you against your will, you become an out-of-control villain. but with flash, venom sees a partner and home - they need and belong with each other, they communicate and cooperate, they became a superhero. also i love how they’re seriously affectionate and intimate - that’s just kind of a given with venom, i think, because you have to invite & accept it as part of yourself. but flash is so soft with venom - while he’s not as….hm, vocal about it as eddie ‘ooh my love my darling~’ brock is (he’s also a bit less obsessive haha sorry eddie), he’s so protective and likes giving venom headscratches and kissy faces to the point others react to it like they would witnessing PDA. i just want flash to be all cute and smooch his husband when they’re not like. one singular entity. CAN YOU BELIEVE THE HEALTHIEST DYNAMIC FOR FLASH TO BE IN IS WITH A SYMBIOTIC ALIEN GOO CREATURE? I CAN. AND I’M THANKFUL FOR IT.
i also ot3 them with eddie for the sake of my peace of mind where everyone’s happy. where venom’s not torn between two loves, and eddie doesn’t feel the need to think things like ‘it’s tough being someone’s second best’ and ‘i’d like to think he’d do the same for me but part of me knows that would be a lie. it’ll always be flash.’ and having those thoughts because he literally FEELS that pull towards flash? like he inherited those feelings, he KNOWS what it’s like to love flash thompson. LIKE, YO????? GIVE ME THAT SYMBIOT3.
then there’s flash/peter, the funniest super/civvie id love triangle in the world. flash having the biggest hero crush on spider-man in high school - so many superheroes to choose from but spidey is the best, because he’s an underdog, because he gets pushed down and refuses to give up, because he’s SO GODDAMN COOL - while simultaneously thinking peter is frankly, the worst? but in that terrible way where he fixates on peter even when he’s not part of the conversation. waiting for him to leave school so he can be mean to him, feeling frustrated whenever he tries to be nice to the guy and peter either ignores, rejects or insults him in return. peter just being like ‘Sigh’ whenever flash insults him by gushing about spidey, but that’s also why he can’t dislike flash no matter how bad their relationship is. how can he hate spidey’s biggest fan? and also he probably gets a good amount of pleasure out of flash’s gf liz allen having a crush on him. peter also does this to johnny and his gf, dorrie evans - they’re frienemies in high school and kind of obsessed with each other,,,,’heRE’S MY LIST OF 500 REASONS WHY I HATE THE HUMAN TORCH’ OK PETE RELAX. so yeah, peter, despite having genuine feelings for betty brant, hits on liz and dorrie whenever they cross paths and lets them use him to make their hot blond boyfriends jealous. (peter, maybe you ARE the worst. stop it.) and then when they get to college and end up in the same friend group, flash slowly realizes that peter is like. hot now? and like, kind of a cool dude who went through a lot! like, he thought peter was a jerk in HS but he’s actually really nice when he wants to be and is always in your corner! ‘wow, i really like and respect pete! i’m proud to be his friend!’ flash thinks while staring at peter’s biceps. meanwhile, peter has no idea what’s going on because he keeps expecting flash to turn back into a dick (and steal one of his girlfriends lmao) but instead, he just keeps proving he’s a great guy! and keeps confiding in him! and uh, complimenting him a lot? and still fanboys over spidey and that’s really endearing! and oh, he’s really gonna miss him whenever he’s on tour and the idea of flash dying is unthinkable and he really likes being his roommate and he’s who he wants to be his best man and he doesn’t get why flash doesn’t seem to realize how great he is, and welp, he just punched captain america in the face for not telling him flash was agent venom. anyway, bottom line: i like dynamics that are very….long-term and constantly changing? so i tend to fall for the enemies/rivals to friends to lovers thing. or friends to enemies to lovers. but this is a former situation for sure.
also, i’m convinced every corner of the college crew pentagon happened. flash and harry MUST have at least made out once and neither was sure how to deal with the aftermath of that for a couple of months. he’s kissed and casually dated gwen AND mj - but i find it interesting that it seems like neither girl really ever considered him a contender. gwen cares about him but sees him as a shoulder to vent to about her issues with peter, and mj has a lot of fun with him but also considers him the male version of her (outgoing and bright but unwilling to commit and act serious). and he interestingly backs down quickly when peter decides to make a move on the girls. like, compared to his love triangle with liz and peter where i feel he was pretty resistant to letting her go - especially to someone like puny parker, he responds to peter’s accusations re: gwen and mj with ‘hey, relax. it’s not like that. i wouldn’t do that to you.’ i take it as him growing up and not feeling the need to overcompensate to impress his dad and also maybe the fact that he’s a bit more aware of how closeted he is. but it’s weirdly different with harry (*cough* cause it’s the first dude aside from peter he had any romantic interaction with *cough*) so he just……..dances around those feelings (on top of both of their feelings for peter) until harry starts dating liz (BECAUSE EVERYONE DATES EVERYONE IN PETER’S CIRCLE OF PALS, I GUESS) and he’s just like ‘???????????? well okay then’.
i like his dynamic with felicia as much it also pains me - that felicia went into it thinking she could use flash to hurt peter (’i’ll break your heart like he broke mine!’) but then ended up legitimately falling for him and started hoping for a normal life with him. also that they liked hanging out in terrible workout clothes. nerds. (alas, it didn’t last bc….FLASH, BUD….BUDDY….I CAN’T BELIEVE MARVEL HAD FLASH SAY THAT AND THEN PROBABLY SAT BACK AND THOUGHT ‘YUP PETE’S BEST BUD FLASH IS TOTALLY STR8′) and i need to read more of him and betty to get a handle of that but. what i’ve gotten from the panels i’ve seen that it’s very dependant on the writer and has the same problem flash’s relationships with liz, gwen, mj and felicia had where there’s a lot of love there but the actual romantic element is….lacking? falls short? fizzles out? where he seeks out a connection to peter(/spidey) through his romantic relationship with a woman peter used to be involved with and pushes said woman away when she starts getting in too deep?
anyway, that just turned into an essay about how flash thompson has been gay since his conception and only like, 20% (maybe less) of writers in charge of writing him have actually realized it.

Headcanon: Physical affections that make Jackie's heart flutter. Can be platonic, domestic, romantic, or anything you can think off !!!
HC Requests //
accepting
Platonic
anything that connotes her friends letting their guards down around her, whether it be wrapping her up in hugs or lacing their arms through hers, or even just their head on her shoulder?? such simple things, and yet they get to her so much! its possibly a result of her past, wherein she’s somehow acquired that feeling that her touch in general would be more poisonous then warm ( almost as though she’s never been able to wash the blood away really, unwilling to taint others with it, even unknowingly ), and it’s a thought she’s never been able to shake from her head.
people trusting her not to hurt them, napping with her, laying their head in her lap and allowing her to just. be gentle, running her hands through their hair, and watching over them?? making sure they come to no harm?? allowing her to realize that her touch isn’t that bad after all and it can actually make people feel good ????????? really, she’s so scared of touching people for longer periods of time, so far fucking aware of what she’s capable of doing that it’s enough to make her terrified if she so much as loses control, so lingering notes of physical contact like that where its just simple and easy… after the initial panic attack – it actually really settles her heart like nothing else, honestly.
also cheek squeezes or cheek pats or finger boops, REALLY ANYTHING ( but not hand holding ) WHERE HER FRIEND REACHES OUT AND IS COMFY ENOUGH TO TOUCH HER MAKES HER HEART SQUEEZE ITS SUCH A GOOD FEELING THAT ANYONE CAN BE THAT COMFY WITH HER AND WARM WITH HER, SHE APPRECIATES IT SO MUCH !!
Domestic
all the same as the platonic bits, only add to that i think – hand squeezes. she’s acquired a habit from her parents, you see. the whole ‘three squeezes means i love you’ kinda deal, and its something that’s lingered with her even growing up. so with her parents in particular, the squeezes are their silent show of support and love ( though they’re very vocal and give her lots of affection with hugs and all too ) especially when she’s nervous or anxious, it tends to calm her down. like they’re giving her a piece of their strength.
granted she doesn’t always know her strength because she has a harder time controlling it sometimes since she can….. accidentally….. crack bones…. BUT. the gesture stabilizes her enough that she doesn’t go that far, more then anything. AND SHE ALWAYS NEEDS HER STABILITY BEC SHE CAN’T FUNCTION WITHOUT IT SHE IS AN ACTUAL MESS OTHERWISE BUT !! just that slight garnering of strength really, would mean the world to her. show her she’s not alone at all.
another thing that would make her feel loved is just – head pats. like literal pat pats, much like if she were a child or a small pet. its somehow — reassuring to her? lighthearted and almost silly really, but its innocent and cute and she likes that a lot. makes her feel warm and secure for a bit. ALSO CHEEK KISSES AS A WAY TO SAY HELLO OR GOODBYE. BECAUSE HER PAPA TAUGHT IT TO HER, BECAUSE HE’S FRENCH AND SHE’S GOT A DOSE OF THAT CULTURAL UPBRINGING TOO SO SHE WOULD DO THAT FOR THOSE SHE CONSIDERED FAMILY. but sometimes just one kiss on one cheek, not two. depends on her mood.
Romantic
all of the platonics again, along with snuggles, but also :) :) :) ACTUAL HAND HOLDING!!! honestly jackie will rarely allow long term interlaced fingers hand holding with anyone besides that particular someone her heart is attracted to ( besides small child who is lost but even then, she tries to keep it brief because she’s so uncomfortable ) as to her that already feels like just… too much intimacy for her to handle. even just the little entwining of fingers feels very close and personal and she will get so shy !!! and not necessarily pull away ( if she likes you, that is; but if she doesn’t like you, she will pull away ) but her fingers will start to shake and she’ll be so so quiet and blush the brightest shade of pink you can imagine. looks away because she’s trying to handle not freaking out dsahdhsba hand holding brings out her inner tsundere, really !! and her inner love struck fool too !! watch her try to convince herself everything is chill but then not being able to look her partner in the face, yet not letting go of their hand either :> she will get needy for the hand holding before long, honestly. but lowkey. always, always lowkey.
she likes her kisses too!! lip kisses, neck kisses. kisses on her beauty mark or back dimples ( thanks to momo’s boys for discovering that weakness of hers !! ) or really anywhere on her body. the soft gentle kisses that are almost reverent, the kind that trail down her skin. HAND KISSES IN PARTICULAR ARE LIKE. IF YOU WANT HER TO CALM DOWN AND FOCUS ON SOMETHING ELSE?? JUST WANT TO TEAR HER OFF COURSE BEFORE SHE BLOWS HER TOP?? LEGIT JUST!! KISS HER HAND ( also thank you to momo’s muse raz for discovering that for her dbsahdba ) !! the perceived softness and delicacy laced in the innocent gesture is enough to make all her building rage miraculously poof, and then she’ll be scrambling to even get her thoughts and emotions in order because her heart is suddenly going haywire! it doesn’t mean she turns docile and sweet of course, it just means she won’t bite someones head off anymore dashdbhas
basically, any gesture wherein she’s held or touched in a manner that makes her feel — protected, delicate, and precious, ( like huge tight hugs where she’s all completely wrapped up in the arms of her lover, soft gentle strokes against the curve of her cheek or a hand gently fixing her curls into place, making her look perfect as can be without making her feel ashamed and wrong ) both beautiful and wonderful and even more like she’s the most special person in the world to them — ✨ ✨ ✨ nothing makes her heart flutter more tbh. it makes her feel important. it makes her feel reassured. that someone could genuinely love and appreciateher for the way she is in her entirety. and she needs that reassurance more then anything and will never get tired or used to it ever, jackie can get drunk on the feeling and just be happy for life, bless her soul.
also to add - legit just them laying so close together and hidden from the rest of the world, just their bodies intertwined with each other and having that contact ( tho admittedly she feels most connected when they’re laying together bare naked dhasdhsa ) — moments when she feels most secure and her heart feels most head over heels in love because she’s spending time with and just admiring the person that she positively adores. just. contact. always giving her that physical contact no matter what, because it’s what means the most to her. it’s what keeps her away from her darker thoughts and its what keeps her grounded.
it’s what reminds her that someone legitimately loves her just as much as she loves them too.

Zi-O 16 is SUBBED???...
... WOW. O-T was faster than usual. Maybe they had time off for Christmas and just wanted to get it done? You really didn’t have to do this guys, but thank you so much!
Anyway, below as usual. I make no claims about length bc I always seem to get it wrong...
No order:
OH MY GOD. Geiz used his name! When he says he’s giving up on being king, Geiz’s response is a surprised ‘Sougo...?’ And he doesn’t even really sound happy? Like, I think that part of him was like ‘yes this dream turns out badly for everyone,’ but the part that was getting fond of Sougo was also aware of how much the dream meant to nice¡Sougo... Like, he sounds sorta big brotherly concerned... Careful, Geiz, your feelings are showing.
These three are shaping up to be a ‘I don’t care how their relationship is defined that just need to stay together’ group for me. Honestly, I do have a lot of those in Toku, but I really love these three, and I hope they don’t have to end up separated.
I also have this theory that the Time Mazines (gonna spell it different every post! ^^) and Ziku Drivers somehow make you immune to the ripple effect? Bc otherwise it’s too painful to consider that one day, when they finally manage to succeed in preventing the badness, that Geiz and Tsukuyomi are going to permanently forget Sougo, bc in the new future they’d have no reason to know him... Or... If they get retconned... Oh god, if Sougo found out changing it would mean sacrificing his friends (I use the word ‘friends’ bc it’s a general term for people one has bonded w/)... Like, there’d be versions of them, but not the ones he knew... He’d still do it to save the world, but the ANGST! I LOVE IT! (provided it got fixed? bc I’m a wuss who loves only happy endings) Though that probably won’t happen bc it was Build’s finale, so it’s WAY too soon to be reusing it.
Also, in the scene before he throws the Driver? LOOK AT HIS HAND. The poor boy is clutching that thing so hard, his knuckles are white and his hand is shaking. Sougo.exe has stopped working.
Also, saw the hesitation on Geiz’s part, too. Oh, you poor children. Your emotions are all messed up.
Seriously, for gods’ sakes, you are all CHILDREN you shouldn’t be going through this!
Still. If we’d completely changed the past, I would have expected the robots to just vanish like Puma Zi-O and his box did (WHY WERE YOU SITTING IN A BOX IN AN EMPTY FIELD PUMA ZI-O I FEEL LIKE THERE ARE BETTER PLACES FOR YOU TO SIT!)
Also, I kinda of the opinion that Geiz has the Ex-Aid Watch bc he ran back to the clock shop after ditching Woz and Tsukasa and grabbed all the Watches still there.
I am also on the ‘let Geiz win something please’ train, but I’m pretty sure Sougo was teasing him. I feel like their gonna be those two who always seem to argue, w/ Sougo being a little troll and Geiz falling for it and getting mad every time (bc you know he will, he’s too straight-laced not to! god, the poor boy is such an easy mark to tease!), but in the end, they’ll beat the hell out of anyone else who tries to mess with the other. And then Tsukuyomi’s just like ‘yeah, these are my idiots, and if you mess with them, I’ll shoot you in the face and kick your shins out.’
Like, if we use family dynamics... Geiz is the grumpy, serious big brother who constantly gets teased by his trollish little brother, which Sougo, and then poor Tsukuyomi’s the only sane sibling in the house.
Honestly, though, Geiz is such a pure and adorable tsundere, I’m not sure I could resist teasing him a little.
Junichiro here w/ the weirdly specific foreshadowing. You know what, someone else theorised that maybe he’s an alternate version of Sougo that came back to do something, so now I feel validated in that thought. My hope is that, if true, he’s from a bad future and is trying to guide his younger self toward a better future. But that may just be my desperate search for good father figures in KR. (Director Kagami, Shouichi, we salute you, gentlemen)
Speaking of fathers, it seems it’s ‘bring your son to work day’ this time w/ the Time Jackets. Also, Swartz do you... Do you have to do that to reanimate the robot? Couldn’t you... I dunno... Do something else?
Also Sougo looked so sad when he commented that Geiz and Tsukuyomi weren’t coming back. Poor baby. It’s okay, it’s only episode 16. We got a while to go.
Geiz, not acting very committed to leaving... Seriously, though, did it really take you this long to get to the Time Mazines? Sougo got all the way home, then left home, went to the grocery store, and started back. I feel like that was plenty of time. I think you two were stalling.
Also, Uhr/Heuhre I saw that pepper hit the ground, please wipe it off, honey, you’re gonna get sick.
Also, Woz shaking his head at the belt like it’s part of the discussion. ‘Can you believe him right now?’ And the belt’s just like ‘yeah, I know, right?’
Careful, Geiz. Looking slightly concerned there. Seriously, though. They could have just left. They have no reason to think this would effect the future much at this point. Or hell, Geiz could have just left. But no, w’re gonna get out and rush back over w/ Tsukuyomi for... Reasons.
Sougo’s like ‘no belts here, WE DIE LIKE MEN!’
Woz is a terrible security guard and Uhr/Heuhre is an excellent thief.
Oh, god, I missed that before. Geiz literally yells for Sougo to dodge (and then later Sougo is still surprised they’re there--Sougo, who did you think yelled that?). And then when Sougo doesn’t, he’s legit upset and throws the sign. Oh, baby, you are so hopeless. He literally does not actually want Sougo to die if he can help it.
Geiz and Tsukuyomi are both like ‘ugh this goddamn noble idiot unfortunately we kind of love him.’
Okay... Since we’re saying ‘subjects’ again, I’m gonna wax random about something... I think I mentioned somewhere before that I don’t think ‘king’ is gonna end up necessarily meaning ‘someone who rules’ exactly. This was kind enforced by how I interpreted what Junichiro said earlier? Now, this is just my interpretation, so I can’t say anything for sure, but he said that he wanted to work for a famous clock company, and he didn’t follow that, but now he owns his own store, so in a way, his dream did come true (was pretty much the gist, I think). So, like, the point being, dreams don’t always come true in exactly the way you expect or imagine. ‘King’ can be a nickname. It can be used on a smaller level than ‘the world.’ I, for instance, could be called ‘King of the sticky-note cranes.’ The fact is, there’s multiple ways to interpret what a ‘king’ is, I’m thinking that might come into play somehow. Or... I’m just overthinking everything after Build. Get me started on the ‘that Driver’ subject...
Okay, but, Geiz was already ready to transform. When we cut back to him, he’s got the Driver and his Ride Watch up already. He was already gonna go help. Oh, my baby.
Also, I’m sorry, sweetie, but your henshin looks really silly while running. At least your clothes were pretty presentable this ep.
And, like I said, Sougo is surprised. Also, Geiz is mad about him putting himself in danger, they’re so cute! But seriously, wtf Sougo. How did you not hear his voice earlier? And what, did you think the sign threw itself?
Sougo is like ‘holy crap you do actually like me.’
Also Tsukasa hoping around like some longe-legged pink frog.
So, we now know Tsukasa definitely has his own plan, but I’m still believing that he’s trickster mentoring it and his end goal is a good one.
I feel like Geiz could handle Kisshan, though it would probably be a rough fight. I think at this point he could probably hold his own against Tsukasa for a bit (not win yet, though--it’s a bloody ten year experience gap, and Geiz is just eighteen)? But he definitely can’t handle both of them at once alone.
Yeah, I don’t think anyone is expecting Tsukasa to be predictably on a side...
I love Ora/Hora just sitting down on a bucket in the background.
Sougo and Tsukuyomi are like ‘No! Our grumpy tsundere!’
Okay, how long has Uhr/Heuhre had that Driver? Now I’m worried they did something to it.
Love how Tsukuyomi just ducks out of the way and abandons Sougo his fate. Actually, it’s probably bc she assumed he’d duck, too. XD
Tsukuyomi’s just like ‘my boys are idiots I’ll deal with this! Follow me!’ Seriously, when we see her later, she seems no worse for wear. Not a scratch or mud on her clothes or anything. She was able to keep him busy just fine, though I can understand the FaizPhone might not pack enough power to actually take him out. Hey, Toei, please let her transform. The Zi-Ot3 would be unstoppable! Well, some of the time. When they could focus. ^^
Geiz is like, ‘aw, crap, we need numbers. Shit.’
Sougo’s like ‘okay, A) didn't you use my name earlier? and B) have you lost your mind?’
Geez, you two. Stare more dramatically into each others’ eyes. Real secondary and primary drama here.
I joke, but I love this. Sougo knows he can trust Geiz, bc Geiz is incapable of being anything other than who he is, which is unbendingly honest, honourable, and incredibly steadfast. He’s like Keiichiro. Probably couldn’t lie if his life depended on it (though maybe if other people’s did), doesn’t understand deception, easy to manipulate bc he’s so straightforward. He’s incredibly trustworthy. And Geiz is starting to trust Sougo, too. I do love the idea of the trio making their own ‘side’ in all of this. Like, before, Woz said that Tsukuyomi and Geiz weren’t on Sougo’s side and he was, and at the time that was true about those two. But now, it’s become clear that Woz is on Puma Zi-O’s side, not actually Tokiwa Sougo’s side, and Geiz and Tsukuyomi are shaping up to be the ones who are on Sougo’s actual side--as in, the Sougo in question, to whom Woz was speaking at the time (whose side Woz is certainly not on). God, here I am repeating my fanfic now. But I liked the way I explained it there! And maybe someone didn’t read it or something...
Of course, whether Geiz is actually gonna have the will to keep that promise... Hee hee... Sorry, I have this really depressing thing involving promises w/ these three.
But seriously, though, this is so nostalgic. Let’s stare intensely at each other some more!
Okay, but also when'd id they move away from the wall?
Ignoring Woz to continue staring dramatically at each other. That’s valid.
Also, the fact that Woz apparently hauled that ladder over there in total silence just to make this speech.
Also, Woz, no one is there. To quote Tsukasa, who are you talking to?
Masahiro’s a really good actor actually. Like, his voicing here is great I love it.
I’M STILL GETTING A KICK OUT HOW THE LADDER’S STILL THERE AND HE DIDN’T USE IT. We just hate Woz that much apparently.
I’m so excited for the day when there’s a fight and they’re all just throwing Ride Watches right, left, and centre...
Big sister Time Jacket is annoyed she has to help her little brother.
More bad CGI mech fights. I LOVE IT.
Still waiting for that ‘HEY! SAY!’/‘HEI! SEI!’ chant again.
YOU TWO ARE SO GOOD AT THE TEAMWORK!!!!!
Also, have I mentioned Keisuke does an excellent evil smile? Yeah, Woz is fucking creepy y’all.
Oh, right. Gotta listen to this jerk laugh again... Whatever dude, young you is taking you down.
I love Tsukuyomi getting excited about how good the for looks.
Geiz in the corner like ‘yeah, this is my fault, I can’t really say anything here...’
Tsukuyomi’s like ‘wtf are entrance exams?’
So... Here’s the question. Is Recap Room Woz reflective of Story Woz’s actual intentions? Bc Recap Room Woz seems happy that history is changing... Though Woz was wearing that creepy smile when the gears turned before... AUGH WHAT IS YOUR GOAL HERE YOU ASSHOLE!
Also, it still totally looks like your Rider form is marching into the Recap Room to kill you.
Gotta be honest. Regrettably... I love it. I’m so sorry. I love it. I love the goofy glow-in-the-dark. I love the clunky, plastic kid-watch look. I love this mess so much.
Preview: Kanji became a Kamen Rider using a magic silver gold, and decided to change his look to purple rather than gold (it’ll be hilarious if the character is literally Kinji I would love it--at least have him speak bad english!). As for New Woz... Don’t talk to me about New Woz. New Woz has confused Firebird.exe so badly it has stopped functioning. But the fact that he’s got a new-fangled future book and Woz has a normal book is funny. Also, the shots w/ Geiz and Sougo in the back, looking on like ‘WTF?????’
Virtual orange chocolate if you read this far (love that stuff some of the only chocolate I’ll eat dark). I LOVE reluctant friendship and dramatic stare downs and trust and... I love the Zi-Ot3, okay. I love it. Excited to see Kinji again, confused as hell in regards to Woz and Woz, curious what Tsukasa’s goal is (also Jinga is over now, right, so he doesn’t have to run back and forth... That’s probably why they waited ‘til now so he’d be done filming Jinga). Also curious to see more of the Time Jackets--aka grumpy time murder fam that hates each other.
Oh, yeah, and have I-

Guys I am being so unprofessional this week! You won’t believe how last minute I am at giving Karandi, my part of the review. I’m afraid to look. Does she seem mad? I bet she’s mad, she has every right to be… If it’s any consolation, I had a great Party last night and also this morning.
I’m feeling a bit like Hanae here. Let’s just get this started.
It’s fine Irina, if you hadn’t been late I probably would have been. I’m actually having to write posts the day before they come out at the moment because I’ve been a little busy and I’ve almost run down my draft collection and I’m just not getting to watch episodes in a timely manner. It hasn’t made me reschedule anything just yet but I suspect this week I may have one or two days where I do not get three posts ready to go out.
recently, it’s been brought to my attention that characters who never open their eyes are creepy
After two very solid and plot advancing episode, we got something that was half overall plot and half random slice of life. More or less literally. The episode was split down the middle.
In the first half, we continue to deal with Hanae’s banishment from the Underworld as well as the power struggle that seems to be taking place therein. But first, we have a school trip to wrap up. Whenever Abeno is surrounded by classmates like that, he always seems so out of place yet people seem to like him. Why do you think that is Karandi? (I mean, I know why I like a beautiful blonde tsundere but it might not appeal to all).
I really do not get it myself. The boys turn up to have a pillow fight in Abeno’s room and he initially tries to slam the door in their face. Like seriously, why do they bother trying? That said, I kind of loved that after being forced into participating he decided to play by his own rules. Watching him pummel Hanae in the face repeatedly with a pillow was pretty hilarious, though why Hanae didn’t just take two steps in either direction to get away from him was more than a little confusing.
you may change you mind there
The wrap up of the trip was cute and basically just served to let us know that Hanae can now reliably use his power to sense Yokai. Good thing two, as that becomes immediately useful when the Legislator shows up for a surprise visit with a strange proposal.
It seems that hearing what had happened, the Legislator grew very angry that the Executor had attacked someone under his general supervision and had strong armed him into some odd compromise. Bringing two boxes to Hanae, the Legislator tells him that if he picks the right one, he will be conditionally unbanished. (look at that – unbanished is a real word…) At first, I figured this was a test to see if Hanae had any powers and he should fail on purpose to not give himself away. What were your thoughts on this oddness?
I’m not sure what this test was supposed to show from the point of the Underworld. I mean, Hanae having powers makes him more dangerous. This test doesn’t show his character or desire to help/hurt yokai or give them any particularly useful information.
this seems pointless…
But, despite not really getting why the Executive let this be the test (I get why he agreed to a deal at all but not why this test was acceptable), I really loved Hanae during this scene. I think it was great that we got to see that despite his claims that he is fine, that he seriously considered losing on purpose because he isn’t sure he wants to go back. He’s genuinely scared that he’ll be killed and that is a legitimate fear. However, it is perhaps the first time we’ve seen Hanae suffer from some kind of ongoing trauma from all the weird stuff that happens around him.
Turns out Abeno did want him to choose the right box and not only that but the Legislator had sort of cheated by putting a Yokai in there in the first place, allowing Hanae to get the right answer. Basically, it was rigged for the Executor to lose and it all seemed to be going to plan until Hanae asked what the condition was.
We find out that Hanae has to be accompanied by the Justice whenever he chooses to visit the Underworld. Am I the only one who thought it was a great deal? The Justice has proven to be rather friendly and pleasant company. As long as Hanae doesn’t knowingly cause harm to the Underworld he has a powerful Yokai to protect him and keep him out of trouble. If anything, I thought Abeno would have been happy about it.
silly me…Abeno is never happy
I think we still don’t quite know enough about the underworld politics to know what is really going on. Considering Abeno works for the Legislator, maybe he doesn’t want the Justice knowing everything he’s up to or overlooking his work as well as a second supervisor? Or maybe he’s just ticked off that his employee was attacked and then treated as a villain? It’s a murky situation and one that I assume will be expanded on in coming episodes but I’m really enjoying seeing how it is playing out so far.
There’s something I didn’t quite get in this part of the episode. For instance, why would the Executor care if Abeno no longer visits the Underworld? And what is Ripou hoping to accomplish. I find it hard to believe that he didn’t knowingly set all this in motion by sending Hanae to the Executor in the first place and now he’s scandalized the latter retaliated? It’s like he provoked him into action only so that he could strike back while claiming self defence.
Yeah, there’s more to this than we know. I love how innocent the Legislator is playing it putting the blame entirely on the Executive. However, we know he sent Hanae there in the first place when he literally could have sent anyone else, and I doubt he did that accidentally. Though whether the response was what he expected I’m not sure but it has definitely given him an excuse to act against the Executive. I feel bad for the Justice being stuck between those two.
He does seem over it
As for Abeno’s declaration that he isn’t coming to the Underworld anymore, I wonder how that will impact on his job. I know that mostly he sends yokai into the underworld, but on more than one occasion he’s had to go to the underworld to fetch something so it seems he might be making things harder on himself. More importantly, he used to go there before he had an assistant so it doesn’t make sense that he couldn’t go and leave Hanae behind. Unless this is some kind of protest. Or something Abeno and the Legislator decided on given it seems they’ve been talking a lot about the situation with Hanae (given the test the Legislator gave Hanae).
And this is random but have we ever seen the Legislator’s “true” form. The Executor is a Crow, the Justice is a Tiger but what is Ripou? I always imagine him as some type of Salamander because of his sister, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen him as anything else than human.
Nope, and I was wondering that too. The Justice seems to enjoy his tiger form, the the Executive clearly uses his crow form to terrify… I think that when we finally see the Legislator’s form it will be because something major just went down.
I bet Hanae will make this exact face
Does Abeno stopping hanae from going means he chose some type of side?
So many question and I am looking forward to finding out all the answers but that will have to wait as we jump right into a little story about Zenko finding a doll like Yokai with a simple but difficult request. They want to be human for a day – or at least very human like – so they can go dance with everyone else at the Bon festival. I would like to think that this would be my ambition should I ever become a wraith.
I found this random addition to the end of this episode, lead in to next episode, a little bit of a let down. Sure it is what The Morose Mononokean used to focus on, but this season has given us so much more. Plus, as you said, we’re sitting here with all these questions and instead we’re watching some doll yokai ask to be human. Possibly if this had been its own episode and we knew early on we were in for a monster of the week story we’d just kind of go with it, but coming on the tail of some really solid world building it just felt like an unwelcome diversion even if it did bring Zenko back into the story and have Hanae using his yokai detection skills.
don’t worry, we’ll get back to it
We don’t really know how this turns out as the episode ends pretty much in the middle of this storyline. Hanae having brought the Yokai to the Mononokean so they can make their request directly to Abeno.
There was something particularly Natsume like about the plot of this specific story. Seems like exactly the sort of thing a Yuujinchou Yokai would ask for, don’t you think? Ok so maybe it’s just because I literally order volume 22 yesterday and now I can’t wait until I get it…
Really jealous of that (I’m waiting on the next couple of volumes to arrive but I’m not in the twenties yet). I don’t know, I try to avoid comparing this to Natsume because honestly, it doesn’t hold up as an anime if I do. I absolutely love and adore Natsume whereas this I find pleasant and entertaining enough. I will admit, I’ve liked this second season a lot more than season one, but it still pales in comparison with Natsume (so many things do).
Still, yokai wanting to be a human for a day does indeed seem like a Natsume plot and hopefully they can pull it off because comparisons are more or less inevitable at this point.
Obviously this doesn’t live up to Natsume but then again what does?
Even though we didn’t see the Underworld much, there was still some pretty images here and there!
The Morose Mononokean 2 episode 7 w Karandi and Irina -Playing Games Guys I am being so unprofessional this week! You won’t believe how last minute I am at giving …

Gridman 3
Samurai Calibur is literally what pulled me back into the show – after all, he’s an indicator that despite this show’s serious demeanour, it is campy at heart. So it’s great to see him have a big role, even if he has to look stupid to do so.
Uh…by the way, kaiju (Anti?). What’s so cool about Wolverine blades? I mean, Wolverine himself has healing factor to back that up, but you’re just a kaiju…
That star explosion! There’s the Trigger we know and love!
“A kaiju that eats breakfast with me.”
I always love how anime deal with isolation through framing and other visual techniques. In this case, it’s Utsumi and Rikka in two mirrors of different shapes.
“…over, right?” I thought, as Utsumi said, “…disbanded.” – Close enough.
Literally everyone in this show has blue eyes. It’s striking, but it’s a bit much…? I personally like a mix of eye colours for characters, especially those eyes which seem to have flecks of different colours in them. Not that I’ve ever had an excuse to give any character I’ve created eyes like that (since it’s easier to describe single-coloured eyes), but it would be nice to have an opportunity to. Update: Apparently it’s a homage to something. A Transformers thing, actually.
This ED…hmm, it kinda looks like the Sarazanmai ads I’ve seen around lately. Just without the stylised background people and with Akane and Rikka.
Double Decker 5
“The Derick Special!” – Welp, aside from forgetting the E in “potatoes”, they got the spelling right, LOL.
I wonder if Kirill’s sister looks anything like him?
…Hmm. I noticed the license plate on that blue car has BNY. Maybe it stands for “bunny” or “Barnaby”?
*Kirill headbutts Doug* - Well…uh, that’s one way to use your head…
“My first partner died.” – Wait, but if that’s (Doug’s first partner) not Derick…then who is it??? The one before Derick? Update: Yep, I was right.
I just realised the motorbike (? car?) Max rides has her name on the license plate. At least in the ED it does.
It seems like the next episode is a breather ep…hmm.
Golden Kamuy 15
Kibushi is number 8 on this page.
“Bat man”…? Like the superhero?
I can’t believe I actually don’t mind the Blingee fire at this moment in the season…urgh. Why did I just say that? I might regret it later…
Oh my gosh…woodcock birds are adorable!
Inkarmat likes Cikapasi’s cover story? Even the bit about…boob-grabbing…?
I like the technique where it appears Nagakura and Toshizou have deaged. It really gives the scene emotional impact and emphasises the fact this episode is called “Let’s Talk About the Past”.
Zombieland Saga 4
I always imagine Lily’s voice to be extremely high pitched. So high pitched, it’s almost silly…but maybe that’s just what happens when I turn off the volume and try to imagine their voices that way.
Chatsumi means “tea picking”. As in picking tea leaves.
Bikubiku just means Junko is trembling from fear. She probably has a fear of heights…
Hey wait, I thought slapping Saganship Z on people who aren’t zombies is called “administering medicine”…
The CGI…I don’t think it’s entirely hideous, but it’s still vaguely obvious.
Marutchi/Tamatchi -> Yes, it’s another Tamagotchi joke from Saki.
Merc Storia 3
Oh my goodness…this (the queen) is the fairy I got hyped for way back when this show first had its ED showcased! She’s basically the anime version of a Shirley Barber fairy! She’s gorgeous!
Princess, didn’t the tale of Excalibur teach you not to pull swords from stones?
There are a lot of princesses in this, to the point where it makes me feel like a kid again. Then again, all good anime makes me giggly like a kid. Not to mention this actually is aimed at kids…
Who’s a healer, Merc? Jamo? (Yeah, yeah, I’m kidding, but seriously, get Merc to do a better indication of who she’s talking about.)
Oh, how did I not think of this? Yuu’s name is Yuu because he’s you, geddit? The player character?...Okay, stop booing…
Seriously, all the fairies, regardless of their gender, are gorgeous…! Except the bartender and the butler. The bartender looks like Tank from Brave Beats and the butler’s just an old guy. The background characters are only decent looking, too, but I’m talking about (most of) the main characters here. The princess is kinda cute, but not enough to awaken a moe instinct in me, y’know?
I didn’t notice this until now, but Paristos has pointy ears…hmm.
Wait, that was a dude fairy??? The black one, i.e. “one that knows the land”??? Update: Sorry. I listened to his voice and then realised…that is a dude. Sorry. He even kind of sounds like Ume…Update 2: A-hah! That’s why The One That Knows the Land (that is literally what he’s credited as) sounded familiar. It was Junichi Suwabe! Update 3: His name is in the next ep, it’s Zephrodai.
SSSS.Gridman 4
I noticed Akane has a Surume card. It’s probably a pun on Suika (Watermelon) cards. Apparently the pun is that tapping the card on and off is like water swishing (sui sui), hence the name. Update: It would be also nice to say they were a pun on Hong Kong’s Octopus cards, but the visuals on the cards are all wrong…
See? They’re (Namiko and Hass) using their phones like normal kids. So why didn’t Rikka remember to use her phone last ep?
Rumour has it Borr is a dude, which makes the fact he’s questioning why girls like older guys make a lot more sense. Then again, you could just headcanon him as a lesbian instead. I’m not going to stop you from thinking that way if you do.
Honest to stars above, this feels like Kiznaiver Round 2. I didn’t mind Kiznaiver but though it could be better. The drama felt a little too…melodramatic, y’know?
See? This episode just proves Calibur is best boi…until further notice, when they introduce that other Neon Genesis bishonen for real.
So if Borr -> Buster Borr, Max -> Tracto Max and Samurai Calibur -> Calibur, then Sky Vitter…either Sky or Vit. I already know the answer is “Vit” because I saw it on the wiki, but it makes a bit more sense now. Anyways, I was wondering…what happened to the 3 dudes from Arcadia? Max is the strongest, eh? So many questions, not enough time, y’know???
Double Decker! 6
“Good Noodles”, LOL.
The line that appears when the subs say “Let’s take this to our car” actually says something along the lines of, “For the moment, let’s take this to our car, shall we?”
Interestingly, the word “guinea pig” (as in, the “we’re being tested on” sort) translates directly – you can read the word morumotto (guinea pig) in the text.
Maybe I’m not familiar with terms aside from keiji/keibu etc. for policemen, but I’ve never seen a policeman being referred to as “omeguri-san”…
If we’re talking about noticing things…a post for this episode already spoilt for me that “Kirill now has a brother”, although I don’t know whether that comment was made in jest/deception or not. Also, that “sister” sure didn’t have any…er, secondary reproductive characteristics on the torso, to put it lightly.
Reminder, dear cowatchers: Doug is…kind of…an asshole.
*Milla’s disappearance involves getting on one of those double decker buses you see around Lisvaletta* - Welp, that puts another meaning to the name “Double Decker”, eh?
Apple Bieber (LOL) is so tsundere when people actually call him “Doctor”, haha.
Holy sisters, Batman! Milla even sounds like a man. I may be terrible at identifying voice actors from their voices alone, but heck if I can’t tell this “Milla” is a man! (The voice of “Milla” sounds familiar…who is it, though? I’ll skip forward and check. Update: Okay, it’s a name I don’t recognise, but it is a dude! The VA’s name is Yuki Fujiwara. But now that that’s established…I like Valery (sic…?) already. He’s definitely my type~.)
Soooooooooo…yeah. Kirill really does have a brother. Sorry for the spoilers.
Golden Kamuy 16
…Wait, so he’s (Shiraishi) actually getting captured this time?
I find it interesting there is a Japanese equivalent to “Kamuy” which means “residence of the gods”, to translate it somewhat loosely.
Shiraishi had such stupid faces in everyone’s heads…LOL.
I find Tsurumi wearing a proper outfit coloured like the 7th division (albeit more Chinese-looking) kinda strange. Tsurumi suits red more, methinks.
Opium, eh? I assume this talk about poppies and England has something to do with the Opium Wars.
Arisaka’s probably as bad as Brook from One Piece…at least, when it comes to skull jokes in the OP manga. Or like a group of dads having a meeting.
Nikaidou’s so petty…LOL. But it is a good idea to weaponise a fake leg – I mean, Toshizou could have the same advantage if he put a sword in his cane…but I think Toshizou thinks too highly of his Izuminokami Kanesada to do such a thing.
I laughed pretty hard when I learnt Ogata is meant to be part of the 27th. Probably because it wasn’t much of a coincidence in the first place.
Zombieland Saga 5
Wowee, what just happened to Tatsumi’s leg??? “The second you let your guard down, it can all fall apart!” – I think he was talking more about his leg rather than competitive baseball…Update: I swore the ball went through his leg. If you didn’t interpret it the same way, then…sorry.
So I heard you like KFC. Well, we’ll just grab Saga’s equivalent to KFC so you can have chicken in your anime while you eat chicken…or something like that…?
Shouldn’t that be “principles of Drive-In Tori”?
The fish eyecatch seems to involve a Karatsu-kun-chi…according to the banner in the back.
Google Translate tells me “Bonjour, Saga jeune” means something to the effect of “Hello, Saga youngster.”
They really like their live-action segments on this show, huh?
Seriously, which of these girls does Ookoba-san remember??? Is he the driver from episode 1’s Truck-kun? Update: It’s Junko, so that makes sense. If it were Policeman A recognising Junko, Ai or Sakura…we’d be in trouble.
I forgot why they were panicking, but then I remembered…they didn’t have their makeup on. Ah.
Eh? You’re kidding…the Gatalympics is legit!
Yugiri literally poledanced on that rope! Yipe, that’s stiff competition…
What is Tae eating in these in-between scenes, anyway…?
I believe I cannnnnn…*music cuts immediately* Fall…So much for the “I Believe I Can Fly” parody…
Merc Storia 4
Gah, that necklace looks like a Sims gem…
Okay, if I figured out what the next country is it won’t be so interesting. It’s the “country of the clan of few people”.
You can see Salodeah in the ED…and Fruedling (sp???)…but there are some other characters you don’t see in these fairy episodes. Now I’d like to meet the lady riding the spider and the blonde guy (you see them in the same screenshot). You can also see the dog girl from the animal in the ED (I forgot her name though, LOL). I’d also like to see the angel country…
I just realised the next ep previews are called Merc Yokoku (Next Ep Preview) Storia…hmm.
