... man, that age-swap Kaiba bros pic I reblogged now has spawned an idea of younger brother!Seto developing a bit of a crush on a still-high school-age Yugi, who. Uh. Still looks younger!Seto's age because smol. Yugi, being the one aware Seto's still baby, gently explains that no, he is a high school student, darn it, and it'd be kinda weird to be his boyfriend as a result.

Seto does the typical kid thing and is like, "then will you be me boyfriend when I'm older?" Yugi laughs it off like, "yeah, sure, if I'm still single then," thinking Seto will forget about it in a week, tops. Seto takes it VERY SERIOUSLY.

Skip several years and some growth spurts later, Yugi, now working at KaibaCorp, meets younger!Seto again, who. Um. Grew up very nicely???? And now Yugi has very conflicting feelings when Seto's here to make sure Yugi is good on his word from back then.

(Mokuba, still having Big Gremlin Energy even as the older brother, is watching the whole thing from a respectful distance and is amused by the whole thing.)

The youngest Kaiba brother, having managed to manifest his small dragon tail, gently used it to poke at his stepbrother's face. Mokuba was the type of kid who did not like sleeping alone. Ever since his brother and his fiance moved into the same room, he's been making a habit of essentially sneaking into Noa's room on a frequent basis to the point it was almost like his room too.

Regardless, seeking out company so he could fall asleep wasn't exactly why he was here this time. No, the crown prince had a better idea than just sleeping. In fact, if Noa wanted in on his idea, they'd have a whole night of fun ahead of them.

"I overheard the guards saying there is gonna be a dragon duel at midnight between my brother and some foolish guy who dare challenged him. I know we're not supposed to leave our rooms at this hour but...how could we miss an opportunity to watch Seto kick some idiot's butt?" Mokuba certainly wasn't about to. After all, dragon duels did not happen too often since Seto took over for their late stepfather. Who knows when he'd get this chance again?

was thinking about my silly YGO Band AU a while back but its spread across like 3 posts and secret tags so I am putting it all in one place for posterity and my own sanity

90's grunge group "PHARAOH" consists of Atem, Anzu, Honda, and Jou. Yugi is the secret song writer behind all their hits, but is too insecure to take public credit, so he has Atem act as charismatic frontman and pretend to have written all their songs. Does this make Atem increasingly uncomfortable? Yes. Will he say anything? lol

Pegasus of I2 records is their eccentric boss, who is happy to keep Yugi and Atem's secret as long as the money keeps rolling in.

Seto Kaiba, a solo act who runs his own label, cannot be managed but in practice delegates those duties to Mokuba and Isono. Swears revenge against Atem for knocking him off the charts, without realizing that Yugi is his real rival.

Ryou Bakura is a very polite boy who writes demonic-sounding deathcore and uses a gallon of fake blood every performance. Has a legion of dangerously rabid teen girl fans. Managed by his widely disliked twin brother, who spends as much time protecting his little bro from their own stalker-y fanbase as he does price-gouging merch and used tissues to sell to those same obsessed teenage girls.

Sera's case is just to add more comedy. Pegasus Returns?! Duel, Kaiba-Boy! Pt. 1

[Seto and Mokuba fly over the island Maximillion Pegasus calls home, Duelist Kingdom, in the Blue-Eyes Jet. Seto is piloting.

"I can't believe we're visiting Duelist Kingdom again," Seto mutters, with clear disdain.

"Yeah," Mokuba adds, "It's got nothing but bad memories..."

"I'll make this quick, so that we don't have to be here very long." Seto assures Mokuba. They land shortly thereafter.

The Kaibas are silent as they approach the darkened entrance hall. It's eerily empty.

"Do you think anyone even still works here...? I mean, Pegasus is supposed to be dead!" Mokuba remarks. "If it really is him, we'll put him in the ground for good this time!"

Seto nods, but doesn't verbally reply.

It's not long until they come to a large room, too high up to see its floor in the dim, with their walkway suddenly cut off with a drop into the pit. Seto has to grab Mokuba's arm to keep the younger boy from walking right off the edge, as he's preoccupied looking around the room; Mokuba's fear of that near-death experience has him clinging to Seto.

"PEGASUS! Enough fooling around; show yourself!"

On the other side of the room, across the gap, Maximillion Pegasus appears from the darkened hallway, laughing to himself. He's just as the boys remember him.

"Just as annoying as always," Seto mutters.

"Oh, Kaiba-boy, where's the love? We've been through so much together! Aren't you happy to see me, after so long~?"

Seto grimaces, mirroring Mokuba's expression beside him. The younger is the first to respond.

"Shut up, Pegasus! We're not here to catch up with a low-life like you!! My bro is here to duel you, so you leave us alone for good!"

"Ohhh~? And what have I done to earn so much ire from you, boys~?"

The Kaibas grit their teeth. Seto responds this time.

"It's a long list. But you know why we're here now: you've been buying up my company's shares like cheap candy." Seto points dramatically at Pegasus.

"Not to mention- you're the only other person who could possibly have scared the world with those monster holograms."

"Is that so~? You boys know that my little arenas aren't nearly as advanced as your Solid Vision... are you sure you aren't just blaming me to hide your own responsibility for it? Maybe you're just scared about those monsters being real, hmm~?" Pegasus chuckles to himself, raising his arms in a caricature of a shrug and shaking his head. It really pisses Seto off.

"AS IF! Everything has an explanation, and monsters being real is impossible!"

Mokuba, however, picks up on something else in Pegasus's response.

"What do you mean, our responsibility for all of this?? We already told everyone KC's instruments had nothing to do with it!"

Pegasus continues to chuckle, lowering his arms. As always, he's condescending to his opponents.

"I'll tell you if your big brother can beat me in a Duel, Mokuba-boy~. But don't forget what happened last time you dueled me... and how you lost your souls~!"

Seto growls, clenching his fist, then takes a breath to steady himself.

"I don't want to hear it- you're just reminding us of old humiliations to try and rile me up before the Duel, so that I'll make mistakes. It won't work."

"That's old news, Pegasus- like you should be!" Seto brandishes his Duel Disk, and it activates, pieces swiftly moving into its Duel-ready position.

Pegasus gives them a hearty laugh, then spreads his arms in front of him. "You're right- it's time for the rematch of the century!"]

I finished rewatching season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh. My redemption arc is 1/5 complete. (I have to watch the dub because I don't wanna support Crunchyroll and I don't know where else to watch the sub)

My main thoughts are about voice acting since of all the arcs, Duelist Kingdom and Domino City side stories make me the least angry.

So to start off, a comparison between Dub and Sub acting and which voice I like more as of now.

Yami: His sub voice in season 1 is honestly so cute. He just sounds like he's having a constant blast.

His dub voice on the other hand, sounds so hot 🥵. And Dub Yami is what's keeping me from doing drugs.

Overall, I like both a lot. I do however think Dan just makes the character.

Little Yugi: similar thing as Yami, only his dub voice doesn't sound hot. Just cute. I love both voices and honestly can't pick between them.

Joey Wheeler: I like his dub voice more. That's where the personality is. His sub voice just sounds generic.

Tristan: For the first few episodes of the dub, Tristan has this really stupid voice that I just don't like, so for that alone I like his sub voice more.

But then from the Rex duel and onward it's Greg Abby, and then I like both his sub and dub voice.

Téa: I think I prefer her sub voice. Just a little less grating. (I still love you Téa)

Ryou: He sounds like Gachapoid in the sub 🥺. I love Gachapoid!

His british accent tho 😩

Yami Bakura: Gachapoid doesn't suit him unfortunately. I like his dub voice more.

Pegasus: stunning. Both of them. The performance is impeccable. But Dub Pegasus never said "Jesus Christ".

Seto Kaiba: a hard one. In the sub he screams so much, but in the dub he doesn't sound like he's one insult away from killing himself... I can't decide.

Mokuba: they both sound the same.

Mai: I think I prefer dub. Just sounds deeper idk.

Weevil: I love him and his voices.

Rex: I prefer his sub voice. Just less grating and he doesn't sound like he has bronchitis.

Everyone else: meh. Could go either way.

Now to talk about the characters, and if I relearned anything:

Téa's friendship speeches are so sweet and cheesey I can't believe people don't like them. She is always there for her friends and clearly cares so much. I will never forgive Téa bashers for what they did to her during the great Yaoi Revolution.

Joey isn't as stupid as I remember him being, just a beginner at Duel Monsters. Nothing wrong with that. He's trying. His utter determination to get that money for his sister's operation is seriously so heart warming. I love whenever he says "Time roulette go!"

Tristan threw a dead body at Satan. And grabbed Ryou's leg while climbing the tower because he was getting impatient.

Yugi being uncertain of Yami until the Bakura duel is crazy. Like he wasn't even having memory issues. Bro huh? He's also so supportive! Like baby boy was the one to suggest he and Yami fight PaniK for Mai. He told Yami not to attack Kaiba and send him falling to his death. He gave Joey Time Wizard! Yugi is a bro.

Yami is such a good friend. Helping Joey out with duels, got Mai her star chips back, freed both Mokuba and Kaiba's souls because Mokuba asked, tried getting pink shirt his star chips back, and never believing that Joey couldn't duel by himself.

Ryou was, certainly there. Honestly his impact doesn't really matter. He just explains Duel Monsters to Tristan and Téa whenever Yugi is dueling. His first appearance isn't even that impressive because instead of killing himself to save everyone like in the manga, Yami switches the places of Ryou and Yami Bakura. So even if he tries to help, someone else always helps way more.

Yami Bakura is so hot. I'd suck his dick if he asked. I also just love how his deck can not only do tarot readings, but is also really annoying to go up against. Like boy had 3 morphing jars, an electric lizard, a man eater bug, and change of heart. Those cards were fucking devastating back in the day. He also would have won that duel if he used Just Desserts one turn later, but oh well. Why did he lick the millennium eye tho? I get the tarot reading, but why did he lick the eye?

Mokuba. Oh sweet Mokuba. He just wants to help his brother, but he suffers so much.

Kaiba is awesome. He hacks into Industrial Illusions and causes a satellite to crash into an office. Killing people. He helps Yami win a duel. He rips a Blue Eyes. He annihilates with Crush Card Virus. My man uses Saggi the Dark Clown. His devotion to rescuing Mokuba is amazing and is really what has me start caring for him when I first watched the series 5 years ago. His comebacks and sheer distaste for the Yugi gang are fun and amazing to watch.

Pegasus, the star of season 1. He's in my top 5 favorite characters list. I absolutely love eccentric villains, especially when they love cartoons and are actually threatening. Pegasus is a beast. If we ignore his millennium eye for now, he's a fantastic and fun duelist! His deck is interesting and entertaining to watch, neither of his duels were boring, and the man is so funny. "Do I spin it like a top, or roll it like a ball!" I love him. He's also (so far) the only villain I feel genuine empathy towards. Y'all, I'm a sap. If a villain's reason is being evil because they lost their Significant other than I'm sorry I'm crying. My poor guy.

Grandpa: he trained Joey and Yugi, he gave Yugi his deck, he appeared in dream sequences to help Yugi beat his opponents, and he gave Yugi the puzzle. If this man didn't exist, Yu-Gi-Oh wouldn't happen.

Duke Devlin: I forgot how much I hated him when I first watched his dumbass Dungeon Dice Monster 4 episode showdown. He's so fucking mean.

Rebecca: not much to say other than I like her.

The duels:

Seto vs Yami (first duel of the series): a fantastic way to start off the series. Kaiba finds out Yugi's grandpa has the Blue Eyes White Dragon card he's been searching for, he steals it, rips it, and Yugi challenges him to a duel.

Yami takes control and is surprised by Kaiba's duel arena having the ability to make life-like holograms of the monsters on the cards.

The duel begins and for the entire thing, it's honestly pretty equal. Yami summons a monster, Kaiba destroys it. Kaiba summons a monster, Yami destroys it.

It's a back and forth kind of deal until Kaiba pulls out his own Blue Eyes White Dragon card, shocking Yami. He surprises Yami again by summoning another Blue Eyes, but then gets hit with swords of revealing light.

Kaiba summons Judge Man, and it gets Destroyed by the Dark Magician.

During this, Yugi is having his doubts about winning because of Kaiba's Blue Eyes and can't seem to draw cards. Especially when Kaiba summons his third Blue Eyes White Dragon and destroys the Dark Magician.

This leads into Yami and Yugi having an inter monologue with Grandpa about Exodia. How Exodia is split into pieces. Pieces like a puzzle.

Yami gains the courage to draw and he gets all five pieces of Exodia! Instantly winning the duel!

Kaiba is then given a mind crush and starts to question all his life choices.

Rex vs Weevil (half a duel): in this not really a duel, we are introduced to two characters. Since they have names they are obviously important to the plot.

The duel starts with Rex summoning King Rex and instantly getting vortexed. Then Weevil summons his Basic Insect and equips it with Insect Lazer Cannon. This lets him wipe out all of Rex's Life Points.

Weevil is then named Regional Champion, and Rex is the runner up.

Yugi vs Pegasus (second real duel): this is where we are introduced to Pegasus as a villain.

He makes Yugi duel him on a 15 min time lock.

During this duel, Pegasus is cheating. Not just with his millennium eye, but he's sending subliminal messages to Yami. It's not mentioned in the dub, but it still happens.

Yami finds out that duel monsters was created in ancient Egypt and Pegasus starts talking up a storm so he can waste time.

Pegasus wins the duel due to the time limit and steals Grandpa's soul.

Weevil vs Yami (the third duel): This duel was initiated because Weevil decided to be a little dick and threw Exodia off the ship to Duelist Kingdom.

Yami bets his deck and star chip, Weevil bets both his star chips.

The duel begins, and we find out about field power bonuses. Insects get lower from the forest, warriors get theirs from the meadow, dragons and winged beasts get theirs from the mountains, zombies get them from the wastelands, and fiends get theirs during night time.

Unfortunately, Yami doesn't get many bonuses.

During the duel, Weevil summons a full board of monsters. He gets mirror forced.

Then he plays his Petite Moth and Cocoon of Evolution combo. He gets Burning Landed.

He then summons his Great Moth. He gets Makiyued and Summoned Skulled.

This is a simple explanation of what happened, but Yami wasn't met without struggle.

A lot of his monsters that he summoned got destroyed. They usually only lasted one turn.

Anyways, Yami won and has three star chips. Joey steals Weevil's dueling glove.

Joey vs Mai (Duel 4): this is Joey's first duel! Hooray!

He doesn't understand that his land monsters can't attack flying monsters, and gets demolished.

Mai adds several equip spells and uses Elegant Egotist to multiply her Harpie lady card.

Joey finds out Mai is cheating with perfume.

Joey then summons Baby Dragon and the Time Wizard and uses them to win the duel.

He got a star chip and his first rival!

Mako vs Yami (duel 5): Yami duels Mako Tsunami.

Mako's monsters are in the water and can't be attacked.

Yami attacks the moon and then uses his Burning Land card.

Yami wins

Mokuba vs Yami (half duel): Mokuba is trying to keep Yami from dueling Pegasus because he wants to save his brother's company.

He loses the duel.

Yami vs Ghost Kaiba (duel 6): Kaiba jumped off a cliff and died. Now his ghost is dueling Yami.

He's psychology tormenting everyone except Tristan. Mokuba quickly became distraught.

Ghost Kaiba summons his Blue Eyes one at a time, and they all get destroyed.

The first one is destroyed by the real Kaiba because OH MY! He ain't dead! That's just some fat ass pretending to be Kaiba! (Or he's Kaiba's dark half)

The second Blue Eyes gets destroyed because Yami summoned Mystical Elf and Raised the Attack points of the Blue eyes he stole from the graveyard.

Yami wins the duel!

Mokuba got rekidnapped tho.

Joey vs Rex (duel 7): Rex is dueling Joey because he wants to duel Mai, but Mai will only duel him if he beats Joey.

Joey again gets his ass beat and is saved by Time Wizard.

His spoils are some chips and the Red Eyes Black Dragon!!!!

Yami Bakura vs Yami (duel 8): in this duel we are introduced to two new characters. Ryou Bakura and Yami Bakura.

Before the duel, the gang and Ryou are talking about their favorite cards (important). Then Ryou challenges Yugi to a duel, Yami Bakura appears, takes them to the Shadow Realm, puts the squads souls in their favorite cards, then tries to steal the puzzle.

Yami challenges Yami Bakura to a duel and when he summons the Cyber Commander, he finds out that all of his have had their souls placed inside their favorite cards.

Tristan dies to the white magical hat or some shit and Joey Flame Swordsman gets summoned. Then Tristan Cyber Commander gets resurrected, then Yugi Dark Magician gets summoned, then Téa Magician of Faith gets places face down. (She's a flip monster)

Throughout this whole ass duel Yami and the gang are getting their ass handed to them.

Yami gets Morphing Jared like 3 times, had Man Eater Bug eat Joey, had Just Desserts taking life points from him, and Yami Bakura was looking at him like

The whole time.

Anyway, Yami Bakura plays the Change of Heart card and we get to see Ryou in a dress.

We get to see Ryou in another dress because he betrays Yami Bakura and takes control of his Lady of Faith and tells Yugi to attack him.

Yami then thinks about how Yami Bakura took the souls of his friends out of their bodies and put them in the cards and then wonders if he can do the same. He can he does.

We then see Yami Bakura in a dress but he doesn't slay as hard as Ryou.

Yami Bakura is defeated but he took a page out of William Afton's book because he comes back instantly.

Yami vs PaniK (duel 9): This duel starts immediately after Mai gets defeated by PaniK.

Yugi calls this fucking giant of a man a bully, PaniK tries to kill him with fire, and the duel starts.

PaniK is hiding in the dark and Yami calls him a pussy multiple times.

PaniK sure is a duelist. He loses his temper easily and doesn't think about the opponent's strategy. This Leads his Reaper of The Cards to get caught in a Magic Circle (I can't remember the name) and destroyed by his monster.

PaniK gets Swords of Revealing Lighted and his Castle of Dark Illusions has its floatation ring knocked off. His monsters get destroyed and he loses.

Mai got her star chips back :D

Joey vs Kaiba (duel 10? Does this one even count?): the entire duel is Joey getting annihilated. He loses. Badly.

And Kaiba gets insulted.

Joey vs Bonz (duel 11): This duel happened because Joey got kidnapped.

We also get introduced to Bonz, Sid, Zygor, and Bandit Keith.

Bandit Keith used to be the intercontinental champion, and he hates Pegasus.

Bonz is just a little guy who doesn't really like Bandit Keith, but he wants to duel with his zombie cards. Keith is helping him out. So they just gotta work together.

Sid and Zygor are Bonz's friends. They're just kinda there.

During this duel, they are in a cave and Joey is getting scared because Bonz is ugly (no he's not 😤) and zombies are spooky.

Joey is managing pretty alright for the first half because Keith keeps making Bonz play not zombies and they keep getting destroyed.

However, Keith wanted this. Because he put a Call of the Haunted in Bonz's deck. This means that Bonz can bring his monsters back from the graveyard as zombies, they're indestructible, get stronger each time they come back, and they keep destroying Joey's monsters.

Bonz then summons his Pumpking and makes his zombies stronger, but it gets destroyed by the Red Eyes Black Dragon.

Then Red Eyes gets destroyed by ways I don't remember.

Now all Joey has left is his Battle Warrior and Sword and Shield.

He summons Battle Warrior , uses Sword and Shield, wins the duel!

The Yugi gang are now trapped in a cave and Bonz and his friends get their shit rocked by Bandit Keith.

Joey and Yami vs the Paradox brothers (duel 12): Ryou leads the gang here.

We meet the Paradox brothers. A pair of eccentric twins who can't shut up and keep rhyming.

The duel is a tag duel. Meaning they take turns, if one opponent loses all of their life points that team loses, and they can help each other out.

The duel is in a maze. Each card can move up a space for as many levels as it is.

Beaver Warrior gets destroyed instantly by the Wall Shadow, which gets destroyed by KUNAI WITH CHAIN.

Some other shit happen, Yami and Joey gotta face some tank and a worm and spider.

Don't know what happened to the tank, the spider got stabbed with Mystic Box, and the worm had something something Magical Hats.

Gate Guardian is a thing and Yami says it's in the class of Exodia even tho it's not an instant win. (Shout out Gate Guardian for getting support 😔✊)

Yami and Joey won the duel with Black Skull Dragon and make it out of the maze with some coins.

Yami vs Kaiba ( Duel 13): this duel starts after Pegasus told Kaiba that dueling him was a privilege, not a right.

Yami and Kaiba duel with the new Duel Disk system. They're using the advanced rules, that's why it's one monster at a time.

With the duel system, you can recall your monsters and replace them with a different one.

Yami falls for the Crush Card Virus trap and can now only use weak monsters.

He makes his Kuriboh wall, and Kaiba summons his Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon to try and get past it. He doesn't.

Yami then uses his stupid fucking arrow card that I can never remember the name of because it's so stupid and dumb to fuse his Mammoth Graveyard to the Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

The dragon starts to decay, Kaiba has a panic attack and threatens to kill himself, Yami says "Bet", Yugi stops him, Kaiba wins.

Téa vs Mai ( duel 14): Téa wants to get Yugi his star chips back and challenges Mai to a duel.

During this duel Téa summons a bunch of wimpy cards like Petite Angel and most of them get destroyed by Mai's Harpie Lady.

Mai has a bunch of equip spells on her Harpie and Téa Wabokued her once.

Shining Friendship gets summoned, gets an equip spell, and Téa activates De-spell to remove Mai's equips.

Mai surrenders and Téa gives Yugi some chips.

Pegasus vs Kaiba (duel 15): in this duel Kaiba is trying to get his brother back.

Kaiba tries to get Pegasus to use his new Duel Disk system, but it doesn't go well.

The duel begins and Kaiba destroys some of Pegasus's monsters, but then Pegasus steals a Blue eyes and turns it into an Ugly Ass Toon.

Kaiba starts losing.

We learn that toon monsters are hard to destroy because they hide in a book.

Also Kaiba falls for his own Crush Card Virus trap and loses.

Mai vs Yami (duel 16): I'm pretty sure Yami was originally being sexist, but I watched the dub so Yugi is the one actually doing most of the dueling here. He doesn't want Mai getting hurt.

Yugi and Yami keep falling for the stupid Mirror Wall thing and their monsters keep getting wrecked.

Then we see Harpies Pet Dragon.

Yugi Mind Controls it and puts it on a catapult to destroy the Mirror Wall (shit looked epic).

Harpies Pet Dragon comes back and we get three Harpie Ladies.

Yugi let's Yami help and they do the Black Luster Soldier ritual and win.

Joey vs Bandit Keith (duel 17): I love this duel.

Joey gets his entry card stolen and Mai gives him hers, so wholesome.

During the duel Joey is fucking shit up. He's doing so good.

Then Keith starts cheating. But Joey prevails.

He uses trap hole, kunai with chain, time wizard, baby dragon, red eyes black metal dragon, and time machine!

Bandit Keith is using Machines and everyone is wondering why. Like bro, machines are a good monster type with a lotta cards.

Anyway Keith is pulling cards out of his wrist band, tries to use Shield and Sword to wipe out Joey, it doesn't work, Keith loses.

Then Keith tries to say that Joey didn't use his own tournament entry card, but Joey shuts that down

Then Keith gets accused of cheating and is sent falling to not at all death.

Yami vs Joey (duel 18): we have to sit through a long ass montage.

Joey throws some cards away, Yami wonders why.

Yami falls for a few traps, then Joey falls for some traps, this whole time Ryou is explaining the birth of the universe to Téa while Tristan kinda stares off into space.

Joey uses his last Time Wizard of the season to bring out his Thousand Dragon, but Yami planned this.

Yami's Dark Magician has become the Dark Sage and he uses Makiyu to stop Joey's attack and wipe out Joey's life points.

Yami wins and I cried the first time I saw this duel.

Pegasus vs Yami (duel 19): the final duel of the arc.

Pegasus tells Yami that if he wins he gets whatever he wants, but if Pegasus wins he gets his soul and the puzzle.

Yami says he wants Mokuba, Kaiba, and Grandpa's souls to be released and Pegasus says "Damn I thought you hated Kaiba", but Yami just doing that for Mokuba.

The duel starts, and Yami is immediately having trouble. He can't destroy the rooms and the Gorgon's Eye is keeping him from defending.

Pegasus also turned Summoned Skull into a toon and it's being creepy.

Yami keeps getting his mind read and Yugi comes in like "what if we switch places?" And Yami says they should.

This gives Pegasus some trouble. It gives him so much trouble that the toon world gets destroyed and he takes the duel to the Shadow Realm.

Yugi dies.

The Yugi gang feel this and send him some good vibes.

This means Pegasus still can't read Yami's mind.

Pegasus does some shit with Relinquish and Yami tries his Kuriboh stunt and his Magician of Black Chaos is there.

Yami wins and gets the souls back.

Pegasus does like 10 minutes later.

Other shit that happened that was interesting/Important:

During the Pegasus and Yami duel, Tristan and Yami Bakura go off on an adventure to find Mokuba's body. This leads to the ring getting thrown in the forest.

The ring goes back to Ryou because love or something.

In the sub Mai offered Rex anything he wanted during their first encounter. This was changed in the dub.

We still don't know how Ryou snuck in the ship to Duelist Kingdom.

Shadi doesn't even try to find Yami Bakura. He just goes to one person (Yugi) and gives up.

I'll never forgive 4kids for editing out Yami Bakura sexily licking the Millennium Eye.

If Joey had a Magic Jammer he would have won his duel with Yami.

Domino City side stories:

Rebecca's cool. I like her.

Rebecca vs Yami (duel 20): this duel happened because Grandpa got accused of stealing Rebecca's Blue Eyes White Dragon card.

Rebecca's strategy is also pretty good for the time. Her deck is centered around milling cards to power up her Shadow Goul, and she uses cards like Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan to do this.

During the duel Grandpa is having flashbacks because he had a duel go exactly like this. We find out Rebecca is the granddaughter of Grandpa's friend, Arthur.

Yugi drew Soul Release, but didn't use it because... I don't know. We find out that's how the duel between Arthur and Grandpa ended.

Arthur appears, says some shit, and we never see Rebecca again.

That dumbass game thing:

I wasn't paying attention to this because there weren't any actual duels and I didn't like this part.

Duke Devlin:

This bitch really gonna say Yugi cheats in his duels and steal all the girls. Bro.

Duke vs Joey (duel 21): Joey almost wins, But Duke does an ass pull and wins at 50 life points.

Duke vs Yami (Dungeon Dice Monsters): Duke doesn't explain shit because Yami is King Of Games and should know how to play a game he's never heard of.

Duke makes fun of Yami for not knowing how to play the game he never explained, gets angry when Yami figures stuff out, and is just an ass this whole game.

I wasn't really paying attention, until shit actually started to happen because there was just a whole lotta nothing.

Eventually both players have monsters on the field, some are doing magic, others are just standing there.

Orgoth the Relentless is certainly a thing. He gets beat by the Dark Magician.

Yami wins.

Other thoughts on the Domino City stories:

I laughed when Joey told Duke "I like ya game, just not you."

More characters gotta duel like Rebecca.

The existence of Adina is weird. If Kaiba made her, ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ. If the Big Five Made her, then fine I get it. Mokuba is like a damsel in distress. I just don't like it.

I hope you enjoy this long ass wall of text. My redemption is going steady. I have noticed no change other than being slightly more unhinged.

Mastershipping Musings ft. Pegasus

Pegasus is obviously a point of contention between Duke and Kaiba.

Pegasus and Kaiba still have to be business partners after Duelist Kingdom in anime canon, and that's the primary canon I follow because I'm still working on the manga. (side-note: Pegasus probably makes Kaiba pay through the nose for BEWD royalty rights, don't ya think?) Anytime they encounter each other, in business meetings and gaming conventions and tournaments, they have to play (mostly) polite in front of the cameras, but Kaiba can't stand him. That said, he's built his entire company based on Duel Monsters, so he has no choice but to put up with him. I imagine that Kaiba keeps Mokuba away from Pegasus as much as possible, to the point of making sure they're never ever in the same room together and trying to just never mention Pegasus to Mokuba if he can help it. Mokuba doesn't act outwardly traumatized after DK, but he's not taking any risks and not putting his brother in harm's way. Pegasus is a dangerous man, and Kaiba learned that lesson the hard way.

Duke idolized Pegasus as an artist and creator, and was basically the sole inspiration for Dungeon Dice Monsters. Once he finds out about what Pegasus did to the Kaibros in Duelist Kingdom, he's going to feel so conflicted. I think the internet's been around for long enough that we've all had a creator that we liked get outed for something awful they've done (I feel like it's happened a lot) and then we have that uncomfortable feeling afterwards of "but their art/content is so good" "but I shouldn't support them" "but you can separate the art from the artist" "but not when consuming the art is giving them money." Duke is gonna have a whole crisis about it when he finds out. When.

I don't think Kaiba feels a need to explain to Duke what Pegasus did, as he really doesn't come up too often as a topic of conversation between them, but also because he doesn't want to deal with the memory of it.

This gets a little bit into something that's fun for me: the different histories that Duke and Ryou have with Kaiba. Ryou experienced Duelist Kingdom (complete with the Kaiba bros getting their souls stolen by Pegasus) and Duke knows nothing about that. There's no reason for anybody in the friend group to tell Duke about what Pegasus did to Kaiba, or that Pegasus even had a Millennium Item (I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that never even comes up around Duke in season four). Ryou has no reason to talk to him about Pegasus because Ryou never thinks about Pegasus. Just forgets about the dude most of the time. And it also slips his mind that Duke doesn't know about that.

On the flip side, Ryou knows nothing about the Noah Kaiba virtual world adventure (I imagine Duke calls it the Battle City Bonus Round) because he was in the Shadow Realm, so he doesn't know about the KaibaCorp missiles that still exist btw (that's something important from that arc that I think it's easy to forget about, but yeah, Kaiba still owns all the weapons that KC had when he took over) and he didn't meet Noah or Gozaburo or find out how screwed up the Kaiba family is from that. He gets told or finds out later that Seto and Mokuba are adopted, but that's about it.

It's also entirely possible that at some point these three—Pegasus, Duke, and Kaiba—will sit down to a business meeting together because of the deals between their three companies. Just imagine Duke going into this meeting with no idea of the personal history between Pegasus and the Kaibas, all he knows is the professional stuff between their companies, and he assumes that they're on friendly terms with each other. Boy oh boy, is he in for a surprise (yes, this is a scene that I have planned for Power of Three). Duke goes in clueless with his boyfriend and the artist he adores, and then they're both going for the jugular, and he's just in shock. One of the few things that can leave Duke truly speechless, but he's got words for Kaiba after the meeting, you can count on that!

"You've always been an opportunist,” Kaiba scoffed. “I wasn't nearly as naïve as you thought I was."

"You were naïve enough, dear boy. After all, you trusted me."

"At least you admit that you're untrustworthy."

Pegasus smiled.

Again, Duke was at a loss.

"Have you seen the pictures of when we first met?" Pegasus asked Duke, his smile smooth and charming. "He was downright adorable."

The way he stressed that last word made Seto's skin crawl.

"I'm not sure that's relevant to the topic of royalties," was Duke's tactful response. Seto had told him to keep the conversation on-topic; he’d thought Seto meant for him not to get distracted, not to keep the other two on track.

"I'm not the one luring children to my private island in international waters,” Kaiba sneered, and Duke couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen him look so angry.

"Children are delightful, and they have such vivid imaginations." Pegasus laughed, his relaxed posture a sharp contrast to Kaiba's tension. "I can only imagine what Mokuba invented about his visit with me that makes you so resentful."

"You call that a visit?"

"Of course it was a visit. He even had his own little room." Pegasus's single brown eye twinkled. "And so did you, for that matter."

Kaiba stood sharply, glaring down at Pegasus, who simply leaned back in his chair and met his gaze. Duke held his breath, too confused to know what to say at this point. The silence stretched out, the clock on the wall audibly ticking down every second that passed.

"You're a damn lucky man that I can't cut ties with you," Seto finally said, releasing the fists that had been clenched at his sides.

"I'm a damn clever man for making things that way."

The air felt heavy in Duke's lungs and on his shoulders as he looked between the man he loved and the man he idolized.

"As long as you're damned, I'm content." Kaiba carefully sat back down.

"You're never content, but that's alright. I like you that way." Pegasus leaned forward again. "Back to the contracts?"

"Yes."

More big bro!Mokuba-little bro!Seto AU:

11-year-old little brother!Seto has 100% decided regular-ass Yugi is his rival, but, since Seto's 11, Yugi just sort of humors him about it and doesn't see him this way back.

Which means, after Yugi sort of wanders away from the competitive scene (too much of nearly being murdered over card games and also... y'know... Atem. :c) with Seto never actually getting a chance to best him, goshdangit, Seto is absolutely itching for a chance to drag Yugi's ass out of retirement, if only for HIM.

So, the moment big bro!Mokuba casually drops the fact that Yugi now works for the company and where Seto could find him, a now in his late teens Seto's first move is to swing the door open to the office, briefcase of cards in hand, dressed to kill because pleasenoticehimYugi, yelling, "DUEL ME, YUGI!! D8<"

Yugi, having been out of the loop for a variety of reasons (traveling, clawing his way out of the post-Atem depression pit, etc.) is like "who in the fu--?!" at this random-ass dude who can't be Seto, Seto was shorter than him and cutely grumpy and that's been his lingering mental image of the kid for years now, until it hits him that, oh, yeah, people grow up, don't they?

And then there's a mutual "wait oh no he's hot" moment, because while yes, Seto absolutely grew to be handsome, but Yugi also gained levels in Counterculture Pretty Boy(tm).

And then Mokuba shows up to tease them both.

Mokuba smiled excitedly. Having finished his little project. Happy to finally give it to his big brother for when he got home.

Well if his big brother is going home, that is.

His big brother didnt have much time for him. Work was a overload and the amount of time spent at work and not at home was beginning to bother Mokuba.

He also understood that his elder brother has tons upon tons of paperwork to deal with, let alone the amount of meetings conference's he's had to take part in lately.

Which left Mokuba doing allot of things on his own. Hanging out with Yugi and the gang, much to his big brother's dismay. Mokuba chose to ignore him and continued to hang out with them.

"Do you think he will like it?" Mokuba shoved the work towards tea.

Tea looked over it and smiled. "Its perfect."

"Yay!"

"What about the drawing, Mokuba? Are you going show me what it is?" Mokuba shook his head.

"Nope. Thats a secret."

Tea laughed, ruffling Mokuba's now short hair.

"Lets take you home, you little runt." Mokuba giggled.

Returning home, he waved goodbye to Tea as he closed the front door, calling out his brother's name.

"Seto! Seto, im home!"

Looking around the home, Mokuba searched for his bother, looking high and low until he came acrossed the light crack from underneath the door.

Seto is home.

Nervousness beated in his little chest, scared, hoping his brother isnt angry today.

Opening the door as quietly as possible, he could see his brother typing away. His eyes focused on the screen of the laptop.

Yep, busy as always.

Mokuba made it inside of the room and stood next to his brother. He lighty tugged on Kaiba's work pants, gaining his attention.

"Oh, Mokuba you're home."

Mokuba smiled, as Kaiba picked him up and sat on his lap.

"I made you something today, big bro."

"You did?"

"Yeah!"

"Alright, lets have a look." Mokuba watched his brother looking at his work. His heart pumping in his chest. Will his big brother like it or would he hate it?

Mokuba beamed when he heard Kaiba chuckle, it was always a good sign. Mokuba felt hopeful that his big brother would like it.

Mokuba eyes widen when his brother held the pice of drawing that he told Tea earlier that was secret. And eyebrow raised, more intriguing than anger or annoyance.

The creak of the work chair made its presence as he saw his older brother leaning back, looking at him, an accusing look.

Or maybe

Something else.

"Whats Tea doing in this picture?"

"Welll..."

"Hmm?"

"Welll...I...You see..." Now both eyebrows were riased in his direction. The look Kaiba was giving him made Mokuba blush, the embarrassment and guilt rising in his chest.

"Something you're not telling me, Mokuba?"

It was then Kaiba turned the paper around that he pointed to the drawing.

A drawing of a happy family. Kaiba to the left, Mokuba in the middle and Tea to the right. All holding hands. And a big love heart in the middle. Writting in words above their heads "daddy, mommy and moki"

Mokuba started to fidget with his shirt. Looking down in shame.

"I wanted to draw a happy family."

"But why is Tea in here?"

Mokuba looked away, and he mumbled.

"Mokuba you need to speak a little lou-"

"Because I wanted a mommy!" He snapped.

Mokuba covered his face with his hands, letting out little sobs. Now he'd done it.

He ruined his big brother's life.

Mokuba felt his brother's arms wrapped around him as he cried. He was definitely sure now that Seto was angry with him.

"Silly Mokuba. What makes you think of Tea being your mommy for?"

Mokuba sniffed and looked up at his brother.

"Because."

"Well whats 'because'? I need your reasoning."

"Beecauuseee~ you like her. Remember when we went to one of her shows out in New York? And you said that she was pretty? And the other time you offered her rides home? I saw your hand near her butt one time at the restaurant we went to." Mokuba explained.

"That doesnt mean anythi-"

"Annnndddd I saw you whisper something in her ear and your hand THEN touched her butt. I saw it, im not stoopid."

Kaiba crossed his arms, which meant Mokuba knew it hit him right where he wanted.

"You shouldnt be observing in adult conversations."

"And you shouldnt be touching her butt."

"I did not."

"Yes you did."

"Did not."

"Did too."

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"I wanna have a happy family. I see the other kids have their mommies, and the other kids ask me why my mommy isnt here."

Mokuba squeezed his eyes shut as tears fall from his cheeks.

"And...and Tea...she's nice and she doesnt hate me. And you dont hate her. So I thought she make a great mommy."

"Mokuba thats-"

"And Isono agrees!"

Mokuba heard his brother sigh.

"Little brother, it is not that simple as you think it is. You cant just pick and choose who's going to be your mother. It doesnt work that way."

"But..but Tea..."

"She has her own life to attend to. For you all know she might already have someone awaiting her home."

Mokuba shook his head.

"She's still single. I checked her socials and other important stuff. She's not married or have a boyfriend."

"She might have a girlfriend."

"She doesnt have one of those."

"Still single, eh?" Mokuba nodded.

"YeP" his mouth made a popping noise to emphasized the P.

"And she's here right now, visiting." Mokubas hope rose high as Kaiba started to call her. Her voice answering on the other end of the receiver.

"Oh hi, Seto! Didnt know you were going to call. I havent heard from you in ages..."

Mokuba listened to their conversation. His fingers playing along his shirt, hoping Tea would come and visit, and maybe stay for the night.

"Sure sounds great! I'll be right over!" She sounded excited over the phone.

Mokuba celebrated.

"Yay! And you can touch Tea's butt all the time."

"Mokuba!"

The first of the little gift drabbles I'm giving out this month ^.^ This one comes from a friend on Discord, Enwy. A lovely person and an amazing friend who requested Kaiba making snow angels with Mokuba but not really wanting to make snow angels cause Yugi is there.

“Aw, come on bro.” Mokuba whined. “It’s fun!” 

He gave a short hum as he watched his brother throw himself backwards into the snow, arms spread out to the sides and a joyous laugh echoing around the open space they were in. 

“I’m fine, thanks.” He said dismissively. 

“But Seto.” Mokuba said, sitting up and crossing his arms, pouting at him. “You said you’d join me.” 

“I said I’d come here with you.” He explained. “Not that I’d do what you do.” 

Mokuba huffed and fell back into the snow with a frown on his face, his movements now less fluid and tinged with irritation. He held back a sigh. He wished he was better at these things, he wished he could be more like- 

“You should try it.” A familiar voice said behind him. He didn’t bother turning to face the other man, waiting for him to step up to his side instead. “A little fun won’t hurt you.” 

He looked down to the side, Yugi met his gaze and even though his ridiculously thick scarf was covering his mouth and nose, he could tell he was smiling. It was in his eyes. Eyes which looked back into his own curiously. 

“Better not risk it.” He huffed, turning his attention back to Mokuba who was scrambling back up off the floor, shaking his head to dislodge the snow that had gathered in the ends. 

“Yugi!” Mokuba shouted happily. “Help me out here. It’s fun, right?” 

“It is.” Yugi said, stepping forward then turning to face him. “Come on Seto. Let yourself have this.” 

He huffed out a laugh but couldn’t deny that as he watched Mokuba fall backwards into the snow again, laughing happily as he made another snow angel, he actually wanted to join in. 

But he couldn’t now. 

Not with Yugi here. Not in front of his rival. 

What would he think of him if he gave in to the childish urge he felt to throw himself into the snow, to relive the days when he and Mokuba played in the snow as children, the only reprieve they ever got from an otherwise harsh life… 

He remembered those days so vividly. 

“Is that a smile I see?” Yugi’s voice was teasing and he hated how the tone made him smile. 

“Shut it.” He mumbled, looking away for a moment. 

“There’s no one else here, if that’s what you’re worried about.” Yugi said softly, his tone more serious, cautious. 

He hummed in acknowledgement but still, he scanned the open field, nothing was around them, no one else thought it wise to be out in the snow today. He was only there because Mokuba had dragged him out after all. 

Actually- he turned back to Yugi. 

“Did he invite you?” He asked. 

Yugi laughed and Mokuba happily shouted “Yep!” From his spot on the ground. 

“He told me you’d be here today.” Yugi said quietly. “He thought you might like some company.” 

He nodded once then looked back down at the imprints Mokuba had left in the snow around where he was standing, multiple snow angels littered the floor, all of them slightly different depending on the way Mokuba had moved. 

“Well, you might not want to have fun…” Yugi stepped further away from him, still facing him, eyes bright and happy as he held his arms out to the sides. “But I do.” 

After he’d said those words Yugi fell back into the snow, moving his arms and legs the same way Mokuba had before. His large coat bunched up with each movement, the many layers he had on almost drowned him now he was laying down and he had to smile and the sight. Just…at the ridiculousness of it all. 

When Yugi sat up, the thick knitted hat he was wearing moved, it slipped down over his eyes slightly and Yugi laughed as he pushed it back up. 

“Yep.” Yugi said happily, looking up at him. “That’s definitely a smile.” 

He caught himself and shook his head, rolling his eyes for good measure as he wished his own scarf was thick enough to hide his mouth, to conceal the way he was feeling. 

“Looks fun, right?” Yugi asked. 

“It looks cold.” He countered. 

“It’s not too bad.” Yugi shrugged. 

“I doubt that.” 

“Try it.” 

“I don’t think so.” He shook his head and crossed his arms, Yugi laughed and he frowned. “What?” 

“Oh nothing.” Yugi shrugged again, looking up at him and he just knew that behind that scarf was the biggest grin he’d ever seen. “Just didn’t have you down as a coward.” 

“What?” He laughed sharply, hands moving to rest on his hips. “Hardly.” 

“Defensiveness.” Yugi said casually. “You’re just digging yourself a deeper hole.” 

“Why do you care?” He asked, huffing out a sigh and glancing over to where Mokuba was now rolling a large ball of snow in circles. 

“You should learn how to have a little more fun.” Yugi said. His soft tone drew his attention. “Mokuba is worried about you…I’m worried about you. Just…relax, okay? For a little while, for him.” 

His expression softened, his hands fell from his hips to hang by his sides as he looked back over to Mokuba. He saw it then. His brother appeared pre-occupied, but he wasn’t really, he was looking back at him and clearly waiting for something. 

He smiled and looked back at Yugi. 

“Fine.” He said with a sigh. “But no one else finds out about this.” 

Yugi nodded, a gloved hand raised to the scarf over his lips and made a zipping motion. “I won’t say a word.” 

He stepped over another snow angel Mokuba had made earlier and in one fluid movement, turned and fell back into the snow, moving his arms and legs awkwardly up and down, pushing the snow into the right shape. 

He could feel the snow clinging to his clothes, the cold seeping through thick fabric and into his skin…but he couldn’t really find it in him to care. He allowed himself a small smile as he sat up again. 

Mokuba running toward them was the sight which greeted him, his brother cheered and laughed happily as he fell into the snow next to him, making another snow angel quickly before springing up and returning to his half built snowman. 

“See.” Yugi said quietly. 

“What?” He asked, looking at him, both of them still sat on the ground, in the snow.

“Having fun didn’t kill you.” Yugi said. 

He laughed softly, shrugging. “I don’t know, it’s pretty cold. It still might.” 

Yugi looked at him, his scarf pulled away from his mouth to expose flushed pink cheeks and a small smile on his lips.Yugi didn’t say anything though, and both of them were distracted by the excited shouts of Mokuba, calling to them to help with the snowman. 

He pushed himself to his feet easily and turned to Yugi who was still sitting on the floor, fixed on Mokuba, a far off look in his eyes. With a smile he held out a hand. 

“Come on.” He said. Yugi looked up at him in confusion, a question on his lips but he shrugged. “He, um... he thinks you’d like some company.” 

It was a ridiculous way to cover up what he really wanted to say, but Yugi's smile told him he understood his true meaning. A gloved hand grasped his and he pulled the other man up, both of them smiling as they made their way over to Mokuba to help him build a taller snowman.

This Rhydon was way faster than it looked! It would be pretty easy to calm down with his Styler once he could actually get a few loops around it without the line breaking! Though it was good to hear this lady wasn’t just panicking, Mokuba knew it was a natural response but usually the Pokemon themselves just needed help with something.

“Yeah, I’ve been following it for a while trying to help it but it keeps running away!”

But finally upon spotting another human it decided to face him with a roar.

“But now? It should be a piece of cake!”

His styler’s disc launched from the device on his wrist, trailing a line of blue light after it. Mokuba directed it to create several circles around the Rhydon (carefully dodging the attacks the rock type threw at the little spinning top, of course), eventually communicating his feelings of friendship to the Pokemon.

The attacks stopped and Mokuba huffed with exhaustion. So much running for just one capture!

“Capture finally, complete. Thanks for the assist! You were trying to help it too, I’m guessing?”

Do Mokuba and Kisara have any activities that they like to do together? Is Kisara more of a gal pal to him, or more like a big sister?

hello! so sorry for the late reply, if its any consolation i opened it on my phone and hallucinated my response multiple times before going "ill reply on my laptop later"

to me its definitely a case of "you cant just slap on Traditional Family Dynamic on all platonic relationships" Kisara the woman isnt motherly or nurturing, i know most people want her a "big sister" figure to Mokuba but her themes are social outcast, benevolent yet lonely, angry yet merciful, self sacrificing but hard to connect, shunned and worshipped woman of unknown origin. shes pretty much a wet pathetic meow meow on the surface. that much is impossible to miss so no matter how or when they meet Mokuba would be the one looking out for her. in the soft ways a young boy who grew up too fast tries to care for someone older than him.

think about it. shes scaredgirl core even when all the logical signs in her speech and her actions point to her being calm, coldblooded, levelheaded person, her body language is caving into herself, turtlenecking, backing out until she hits a wall, her self preservation hard to miss. Mokuba would immediately take notice of it (he used to too. though now its Fake It Till You Make with the kaiba bros) and regardless of how calm she might seem i can see him very subtly caring for her in small ways. he'll be more animated and loud if shes embarrassed, he'll step in front of her in a crowd so she can follow, in all joke fights or general seto bitching, him and kisara are a unified front. tho their win rate against him is crazy high theyre never NEVER above dramatically hugging each other, sinking to their knees, begging this tyrant to stop abusing his two very soft and kind family members (guilt tripping older siblings on how they used to treat you is always morally correct. im the older sibling its fair ok)

from there its easy to see him turning to loving her really deeply. while her connection to seto is significant and mokuba is happy for it, kisara herself is a fun, strange little lady, always down for his shenanigans, easily excitable about trying new things. mokuba, as the self proclaimed jack of all trades kaiba brother needs to try out many hobbies, learn about all subjects on earth, taste all arts he can and kisara is a wonderful partner. shes down to earth and humble in a way that puts things into perspective (she has that effect on both kaiba brothers lol. world wont end if you lose this game. there there) and mokuba would enjoy the chilled out nature of her because the kaibas are EXTREME.

anyway so the boyish ways he carefully regards her go both ways, she would be very attached him (dragon!) but she'd not care for the ages at all. she'd be like "OMG MY BEST FRIEND MOKUBAAA!!!" in her mind whenever she spots him. if all goes well and she is given a happy ending, she only enjoys companionship later in life. i like to imagine her having meaningful and rich relationships with different types of people as an adult but it WOULD be missing something important. monkeying around. silliness. and the eternal youth swagTM of mokuba kaiba would be her precious childhood silliness she missed out on. she would get to experimentally Commit To The Bit. her smart humor and his sharp wit, when they get together, leaving behind only the dumbest bits... their chemistry.

best trios are ones where all the members feel like the thirdwheel and knowing how seto-kisara and seto-mokuba are its only fair kisara-mokuba is LINKED for life.
