It’s Sonic Gang Disney Movie Night! And it’s the Unstoppable Forces vs Immovable Objects! Let’s meet our competitors:
Knuckles “the last of his kind on a noble quest to protect a gem with trust issues, badass fighting skills, and a water-based spirit most of his lost culture was based around who wants to live out his fantasy of his people coming back and enemies turning into friends via continued applied trust” the Echidna who wants to watch Raya and the Last Dragon
Tikal “the curious and empathetic chief’s daughter who was really close with her now-dead grandma who yearns to return to a culture her people once had but have now abandoned and works to make peace with the dieties of her culture while being best friends with sentient water who wants to live out her fantasy of resolving her daddy issues and bringing her people and gods to peace” the Echidna who wants to watch Moana
Blaze “the heir to an entire kingdom with a lot of huge expectations placed on her by her deceased parents desperately trying to keep her deadly and dangerous powers under control which is an issue because they burst out when she’s emotional and she’s been repressing quite a bit of emotions only for an energetic, bubbly person to bring her out of her shell and prove that she can be herself without hurting anyone else” the Cat who wants to watch Frozen
Elise also wants to watch Frozen so two points for Blaze
Shadow “an alien scientifically created to be a living weapon meant to destroy who ends up befriending a little girl who teaches him to have humanity, after which he begins to appreciate life on Earth and fights to protect both it and the found family he’s pieced together for himself” the Hedgehog who wants to watch Lilo & Stitch
Sonic who wants to watch Wreck-It Ralph because he’s in it and things go fast
Amy Rose who wants to watch Sleeping Beauty because it’s “romantic” and “beautiful” but also so she can wait until the dragon scene and then start blasting “What I’m Made Of” and scare the shit out of everyone
Silver “was left alone in a barren wasteland for far longer than he wants to admit and honestly probably longer than he can remember who ends up finding one last bit of hope and who wants to live out his fantasy of bringing life back to his planet and seeing society grow around him as he finds a family of his own” the Hedgehog who wants to watch WALL-E. he’ll also settle for Lightyear he guesses
Cream who wants to watch Snow White because pretty princess sing to animals and spin around
Sally “the heir to an entire kingdom with some severe dead dad issues who ends up on the run as a child only to return and find her kingdom decimated by someone she once trusted who now has to raise a rebellion with her childhood sweetheart to dethrone the usurper and retake the land before he can destroy the entire environment” Acorn who wants to watch The Lion King
Vector who wants to watch The Great Mouse Detective and say “that’s what we do. we do that”
Shahra who wants to watch Aladdin. do i even have to
oh and Jet wants to watch Aladdin too but that’s just because he thinks stealing things is funny
Merlina actually does not want to watch Sword in the Stone it makes her uncomfortable however she will BITE someone if they don’t watch Coco next
Marine who wants to watch Finding Nemo because oooh water ooh australia oooh look at the fishies go. no she doesn’t have abandonment issues why do you ask
alternatively, Marine will make everyone watch The Pirate Fairy
Tekno who wants to watch Big Hero 6 because look at those robots go
Omega who wants to watch The Black Cauldron cause it has the most death in it
Rouge who would rather watch everyone argue than see any movie
Mighty and Ray just wanna watch Bambi guys
Big who wants to watch Fantasia because it calms him down. Omega does a quick ecosia search of Night on Bald Mountain and immediately likes this plan
Belle who wants to watch Pinocchio for obvious reasons
Charmy who wants to watch Peter Pan just to point at the tv when Tink is onscreen and look Belle dead in the eye and say “that’s you”
Espio who wants to die
Miles “Tails” Prower who can’t decide if he wants to watch Dumbo or Meet the Robinsons or if both will just bring up a lot of traumatic memories
and finally, Sticks the Badger, who wants to beat the TV to death with a wooden club and then burn Disney HQ to the ground
who will win!! vote now on your phones

Wish is just a normal Disney film just like all the rest.
Wish is actually a damn good movie, there I said it!
I'm going to start by saying this much, it's very odd to me that so many people are now screaming for a love story from Disney, when not even five or ten years ago there was shouting from the roof tops about Disney doing TOO MUCH romance. For the longest time it was "I wish Disney wouldn't do pairings" "Ugh another romance, can't the princess not." Etc. Now everyone wants one, even though Romance isn't really as big a Disney trope as people think.
Actually let's go through the animated catalogue and see how frequently the love story is centered as the main conflict and asperation to the character. In this case it's the key thing, not a 'Oh they happen to like each other in the end' situation, it's THE thing, the point of the movie is their romance. Then let's see how many have it as the secondary aspect, and let's see how many have it as not important at all. (And we're talking romantic love, not family love)
Romance (Total number: 15)
Snow White, Lady and the Tramp, The Aristocats, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Secondary Characters hook up so this is a weird one), Doug's First Movie, Tarzan, Lizzie McGuire the Movie, Enchanted, The Princess and the Frog (Only from Naveen's POV), Tangled (could be seen as secondary too)
Secondary (Total Number: 25)
Fantasia, Bambi, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free , Melody Time, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Cinderella Sleeping Beauty
One Hundred and One Dalmatians , Robin Hood, The Rescuers , The Fox and the Hound , Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Rescuers Down under
The Nightmare before Christmas, The Lion King ,Hercules ,Mulan ,Fantasia 2000 , Dinosaur, Atlantis the Lost Empire , Meet the Robinsons , Frankenweenie ,Frozen, , Strange World
Not in it at all (Total Number: 42 -including Wish)
Pinocchio, The Reluctant Dragon, Dumbo, Saludos Amigos, Victory through Air power, Three Caballeros, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan
Sword in the Stone, The Jungle Book, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective
Oliver and Company, Ducktales the Treasure of the lost lamp, A Goofy Movie, James and the Giant Peach, The Tigger Movie
The Emperor's new Groove, Recess School's out, Return to Neverland, Lilo and Stich, Treasure Planet, The Jungle Book 2
Piglet's big Movie, Brother Bear, Teacher's Pet, Home on the Range, Pooh's Heffalump Movie, Chicken Little, The Wild
Bolt, Winnie the Pooh, Wreck it Ralph, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, Wreck it Ralph 2, Frozen 2, Raya and the Last Dragon, Encanto, Wish
These are just the animated not live action, and not live action with animation movies. All in all it's more common to see a Disney film with NO romance in it at all then a romantic one.
So why is it that people keep saying, but we're missing the romance, it's because of the fact that most of the time the Parks and other media pair the characters together. Take Peter pan, in the movie, the boy is utterly oblivious to Wendy's affections, to the point of pissing her off enough that she leaves the party that the tribe is hosting. In the parks, and other media (the plays, other movies) the romance is in your face, because people want them to be a couple, but in the movie itself you never see it.
Star, based on the making of book, was supposed to be a younger version of Asha's grandfather, which fits the theming of the movie. However, from what I understand, one of the reasons why they went against is was because it was hitting to close to Genie in the shape shifting. On top of that, the character of Star, seems heavily inspired by the art work of William Joyce, who created Night Light.
Tumblr media
This is him and Katherine (Future Mother Goose) who is basically Star in a lot of ways. He lights the night to keep the nightmares away. These two eventually grow up (He remembers He's jack frost) and they end up as a couple.
It would be apping off of that story, and sadly people didn't give the William Joyce movie Meet the Robinsons a chance (don't sleep on that folks please! It is a good story.)
Also straight up give more love to the Guardian's of Childhood, you'll be happy while you read it.
Tumblr media
I'm not saying don't ship it, what I am saying is that please don't go saying this was planned when it really wasn't. That was supposed to be her grandfather there.
And I'm not against the art work, I find it very cute and sweet and lover the designs. But I do think that the whole, "WE WERE ROBBED!" thing isn't being at all fair to the creative team behind this story, as again, *points up* they were following the tradition of a story that doesn't have a love interest, which is the vast majority of the stories that they tell.
Wish perfectly falls in line also with Disney's normal length of animated movies.
Wish was 1 hours and 35 minutes
The movie that came out before it clocked in at
Strange World = 1 hours and 42 minutes
Moana = 1 hours and 47 minutes
Frozen = 1 hours and 42 minutes
This Hour long movie thing started really with Atlantis the Lost Empire = 1 hours and 36 minutes
While Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch all clock in around =1 hour and 30 at most, some are even less than that. Wish's run time is equal to that of Atlantis, or Aladdin, or Treasure planet. So I'm a bit perplexed on the "It's too short" thing. Maybe growing up just before and during the days of Little Mermaid and Aladdin made me like the shorter tales.
Which is another point. With a shorter movie, you never get complete backstory. It's a fairy tale! I mean, look at Little Mermaid. Seriously can you Name any of her sisters from the opening song.
Tumblr media
Like seriously, I don't really know a lot of people who can tell me anything about Aquatica, for example. Unless you actually read the books or watched the TV show. And before then we had nothing. Nothing on her mom, nothing on her sisters.
Then there's the town Belle comes from, what do we know about it? Not much, not even who governs the damn thing. Howe about Aladdin before the TV series and King of thieves cleared up everything. We didn't know who his parents were, nor Jasmine's mom. Hell we still don't know anything about Cinderella's father from the animated movie.
Point being, a lot of information, much like Wish, got cut for time. In Snow white we were supposed to be given a longer back story for her father and mother, that was cut due to it being to long, it's in the golden book though. Prince Florian (Yes that is his name) was supposed to have Prince Phillips escape, but it was deemed to hard to animate at the time.
Also there was one that was dancing on the clouds, with STARS, around them that looks very much like you know, our Star.
So basically, he's a nod to what could have been for Snow White all those years ago. Cut for time.
Tumblr media
Aladdin had a whole cut song because they chopped his mother out as she was supposed to play a part in the movie and help her son with the Genie.
Tumblr media
Zena is her name and she was cut to streamline the film.
Maid Marian in the original Robin Hood was supposed to protect him after his plunge into the water, and protect him from King John while he's threatening her. King Richard appears in the end and scares him into stopping but she's willing to take a dagger to the chest to protect Robin.
Tumblr media
This is when Richard meets Robin with Marian telling him all about what happened.
All Disney movies change. Isabel in Encanto was supposed to have a nerdy boyfriend that the family disapproved of.
Hell, Frozen was at one point going to be the Bad guy wins the guy, the hero (Gerta) that we followed all the way to the end rooting for her, was supposed to be a gold digger, and Kai was supposed to say "Nah, I'm gonna stick with the Snow Queen" because she's sad and your a bitch. (Thanks Eisner, I hate it!)
So yeah, there's probably A whole lot of cut content that was supposed to go in, but to streamline it to 95 minutes, you have to cut! At least it's not what happened to the Black Cauldron. No I will never forgive Katzenburg for that travesty!
Disney always used Popular Music over Broadway
Honestly this is the one complaint that I hear that kills me the most about this movie, that the studio went with a pop music team. As if this is not a common thing for Disney movies!
Fun fact, the team behind most of the musical scores up until the 1960s were all composers and musicians that wrote songs for the radio. Or song writers that did radio music. If I listed every single one we'd be here for ages.
The Sherman brothers actually wrote pop tunes for the Teen sweetheart Annette Funicello and several other well known singers and actors of movies.
The first major Broadway group was Ashman and Menken, Followed by Miranda, and the Lopez's. Most, if not all of the biggest Disney songs were written by pop songwriters, whos goal it was to get that song played on the radio.
Hell The Lion King, Tarzan, The Emperors New Groove, and Treasure planet to name a few were all done by Pop musicians. I didn't hear complaining about it back then! What's the difference now? Because the team is not Elton freaking John, or Sting?
All of Oliver and Company was pop songs. Several movies didn't have songs, or only had one.
If we're going to celebrate a studio that helped bring an artform out of it's infancy and show that you could do a full movie of animated pictures where you get emotions out of it, we need to celebrate all aspects, and that includes things we may not realize are kind of unique.
When Hercules and Hunchback came out, people complained about them not being "Traditional" Disney. It was Gospel, it was too dark, or in the case of Tarzan, why are we following a boy, or Treasure planet, "Yuck a space story". Now people adore these movies. People who grew up with them want to celebrate them, and sometimes they don't realize that they were once derided as hard or harder than Wish is being right now.
I just wish that people would give these movies a chance rather than not let the creatives tell their story. We had a whole damn section of 2D animation in Strange World! No one talked about it! No one went "More of this please". Give me these stories, let me enjoy a original fairy tale, because if we keep rehashing things, there's going to be little to celebrate when the next 10 or 20 years rolls around.
Sorry for the kinda rant. This has just been on my nerves for a while.

The Dreaming / Find You / Destroyer / All In (MV ver.) / Nobody Else / Wildfire / Rain (MIC in the SCENE live) / Mercy (No Limit Tour in Seoul) / Thriller / 춤사위 (Crescendo) / Lost in the Dream / AND / You Can't Hold My Heart (PLAY! solo live) / Thriller / BEASTMODE / Fantasia / LOVE / Rodeo / LONE RANGER
⟡ To be honest, I am not sure what I can say about Kihyun's artistry that isn't abundantly clear from his studio and live performances. If I say that I believe he is one of the most competent vocalists in the genre, it may sound like an understatement — although it is not something I say lightly, and I mean it with my whole heart. His level of musicality is built on a strong foundation of fundamental skills and would not be possible without it. Minhyuk once described him as a stone that does not shake in the wind, and to me this also embodies his steadiness and reliability in the recording booth and on the stage no matter how challenging the primary and secondary (e.g., ad lib) lines are asked of him and no matter how deep they are into a rigorous concert set. Kihyun excels at singing high and singing loud (genuinely), but he also has a wide and well-supported range, and I appreciate the opportunities to enjoy his lower/mid end and lighter moments just as much as his robust belting. I understand why Hyungwon loves composing for his voice (who wouldn't?). Kihyun has been a strong singer since the beginning of his career and makes many of his parts seem effortless, yet most of all I respect his commitment to growth despite how much effort it takes to improve when you are already among the best of the best. He was honest with himself about when he felt his abilities plateauing, and he sought a way forward by resuming vocal lessons. We are fortunate as fans that he is also open enough to share that with us. I didn't think I could love and respect him more, but for that personal strength and dedication to his craft, I did. I do.
Postscript, to listeners. This was a challenging set of excerpts to compile (and even more to order) because Kihyun has many, many parts throughout the MX discography that showcase his abilities. As with my other compilations, it strives to capture a breadth of his output while also being very much biased toward my own favorites (Crescendo/Lost in the Dream/AND occur successively because they carry the most gut-punching, emotional weight to me). But I expect to revisit these in the future and would love to hear about your favorite moments in the tags. ♡
Postscript, to Kihyun. I miss you. Kpop is not the same without you. At the same time, I am so proud and happy for you that you are continuing to make music, as it is such a core part of your being and (if it is not presumptuous to say) brings you fulfillment and joy. I am absolutely tickled that you play the trombone. I hope you are having the best possible time playing in the band (and that your low brass section is delightfully weird, as tends to be the case — with lots of love to low brass players, from a percussionist who overheard all your shenanigans), and I can't wait to see how this musical experience contributes to your transformation and growth as an artist.
Other compilations: Minhyuk | Jooheon

Our love a fantasia; holy virgin tears shall purify me.
( clarification, Mountain Tim x reader. Reader has a pussy, at least 20 years old. )
Not proofread.
How'd it end up like this?
The floor was soaked with blood, the liquid quickly spreading as the wooden floor would suck it into its little crevices, some of it stained onto the wall from the injuries.
He tried to hit you, that wasn't the first time. Though now, you lost all self control. Out of the need to defend yourself, you had pushed him. It wasn't that hard of a push. He simply hit his head on one of the paintings.
The glass shattered and went into his head, he was still alive. You could've saved him, but you only grabbed another painting and started hitting him with it. Multiple of them entered into his body, some even going into yours. It was painful, little stings everywhere on your skin. It was like a little punishment for your actions before the real thing. It was just too painful.
Recently, you've been having little 'escapades' with a local cowboy going by the name Mountain Tim. It wasn't a secret that you hated your husband, at least not inside the house. The only reason he cared was because he needed to 'keep his public image as the perfect husband'.
You backed up from the corpse before the blood could touch your shoes. You let go of the broken painting frame, wiping away the sweat from your forehead... Now what? You're a criminal now. They'd definitely find out. You knew they would.
“Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.”
The same thought appeared in your head, should you pray for forgiveness? Should you just run away and start a new life? Maybe you should, or maybe you should call him, he'd definitely help, right? He wouldn't get you arrested, right?? It wasn't like he was a sheriff either way...
You still had his phone number, you could call him, but there was no guarantee he would answer. But the chances were never zero, you needed to make that call. Shaking knees moved slowly, getting quicker as you were desperate to get to the phone in the living room.
It wasn't that far away, but it felt like an eternity. You sprinted through the hallway and went inside the living room, reaching your hands out for it. The only thing that could bring you the comfort you needed.
As soon as you could, you grasped the metal telephone. The glass in your palm deepens, making you wince in pain, but that didn't matter at all. You dialed in his number, the blood on your hands spreading on the device. How you wish it was your blood instead of that filthy, disgusting man.
It took a while, maybe half a minute, but he picked up the call. His familiar voice came through with a simple, “Good evenin'.” it brought relief to you, that voice, that accent, the way he held himself, that was what you needed.
Before he could've said anything else, the words spilled out of your mouth. “Tim? Tim, you're here, thank God! You're going to save me, right? You'll come over here and help me like you always do, right?” you panicked, you forgot the thought about him not accepting her. .
“Woah, love, calm down. Just breathe, alright? What's wrong? Tell me what happened, okay?” His was surprised, and yet, he still tried to comfort her and ask her about what was happening, or well, happened. “I... I made a stupid mistake! I don't know what made me do it, can you just, please please come over here, i can't do this, i want you here.” you pleaded but it was met with a “Darlin', I'll come as soon as I can. I can't promise that it's gonna take a few minutes, but I'll be there.”
You took a deep breath in, exhaling it out as slowly as she could. It didn't help much. “Alright, okay, fine... I'll see you here.” You didn't even give him time to answer as you just hung up. You wanted these glass pieces to come out of your flesh, but you didn't have the necessary tools. God, it was annoying how that rich snob had everything but a first aid kit.
So, now all you had to do was wait. Nothing else but wait.
_
Mountain Tim burst through the door, a worried and tired look on his face that was quickly replaced with a shocked one. He stopped and stared at it. The corpse of Y/N's husband, the blood was already drying and there were flies around it. It clearly had been there for some time.
You heard the sound of the door from where you were in the living room. It must've been your beloved, he was there to save you. You ran to the hallway, the blood on you completely dried already, your clothes were a mess and so was your hair. “Tim!” you exclaimed, reaching over to him with your arms wide, giving him a tight hug. You already knew that he suspected that you did this, so the only thing you should and could've done was to tell him what happened.
“It was an accident, i didn't mean for this to happen. He tried to hit me, so i pushed him and he hit his head on the glass of the painting frame.” your voice was muffled as you buried your face in his chest. He reciprocated the hug, he was speechless. Out of every situation, he didn't expect this to come out to be the reason that she called him.
He sighed, his hand coming up and softly patting the back of her head. “Oh, darlin'... I'm sorry, but, I can't save you from this one as much as I love you.” he couldn't bring himself to put her above the law, and to take another human's life, even if by accident, was unforgivable in his books. “I know... But, can you at least stay with me for a while...? Before I get taken and all..” you questioned, your grip on him tightening.
Never in his life had he thought he'd be hugging a criminal, but this was his 'lover', so he had to make an exception. “Alright, love... Just a while though, alright?” his words were met with a simple nod from your head.
If only you hadn't been rebellious.

Character Dump Time!
Figured I'd keep and up to date primer on all my OCs, since some of their details have changed.
(Updated as of 7/15/2024)
Tumblr media
Ayami Ami (formerly Ayami Tsukimori)
Age: 22 (post EW)
Pronouns: She/Her
Jobs: Black Mage, Red Mage, Summoner
Born as an Au Ra to the Tsukimori Family, Ayami had a rather rough childhood, something that reached a head when she ran away from her home at the tender age of 15. Her lonesome journey took her to Ul'Dah, where she'd live on the streets until calamity struck. As voidsent poured into the city under Dalamud's shadow, Ayami felt a fire burn within her, a fire that would vaporize the demons barreling down on a young Lalafellin woman. The Thaumaturges Guild immediately took notice, taking the young child in to hone her skills before she hurt someone... more than likely herself.
Throughout her journey, Ayami has gone from a meek, unassuming adventure to a veritable force of nature. She would also transform from an awkward Au Ra to a confident Lalafell thanks to a rather potent Fantasia. Rather than seeking fame and fortune, Ayami instead used her new form to fake her death, leading the world to believe that Ayami Tsukimori perished during the Final Days.
Now going by the (temporary) name Ayami Ami, she wanders where her heart may take her, taking in the sights and knowledge that she stumbles across.
Tumblr media
Memello Mello
Age: 25 (post EW)
Pronouns: She/Her
Jobs: Machinist, Gunbreaker, Dark Knight
A Sharlayan runaway, Memello (often simply Mel) grew up as a magitek prodigy in a family that had no care for the machines. In a fit of desperation, frustration, and fear Mel stole as many supplies and gadgets as she could from a gleaner store house and caught the quickest boat to Eorzea, hoping to start a new life using her skills. While Mel had nothing to her name her prowess made waves that would soon reach the ears of one Cid Garland, who would quickly offer the young women a job at the Garland Ironworks.
Tumblr media
This good fortune would not last, however, as Calamity loomed overhead. Cid would go missing, leaving his employees aimless, and as Dalamud fell Ul'Dah would come under siege by voidsent, hellsbent on devouring anyone in their path... Mel included. Only through the kindness of a powerful Mage did Mel survive, a fact that made Mel feel weak. Thus did she set out on her path to get stronger, braver... thus did she set out to become a Warrior of Light.
Unfortunately, after Zenos took her leg and her confidence in their climactic battle at the edge of existence, Mel was left unable to continue her adventuring. Lost in depression and wondering if she'll ever get back out into the world, Mel receives a mysterious missive from Tural...
Crescent Sparrowsong
Age: 31 (?)
Pronouns: They/them
Jobs: Reaper
There's not much know about Crescent's upbringing, and there's even less that they're willing to divulge. First coming the the public conscious prior to the fall of Dalamud, Crescent would make their name adventuring and helping those in need, soon earning the moniker Warrior of Light alongside several others. But when the lesser moon cracked open, and Master Louisoix's spell was cast, memories of the Calamity would fade, just as the light faded from Crescents eye.
Tumblr media
The individual who would be know as Crescent died that day, their body left on the fields of Carteneau. Their story would have ended there had their body not been deemed acceptable for experimentation by a shadowy sect of Garlean researchers. Time would pass, and Crescent would eventually awaken in the snows of Coerthas, with nothing but fragmented memories and a crisis of identity to show, wondering about the truth of their existence.
That truth, however, would prove to be challenging to swallow. In the years since their awakening, Crescent sorted through their memories, filtering out those that once belonged to the former Warrior of Light, and found they had nothing of their own. But at night, in the still silence, they found themself dreaming of a place just on the edge of their mind, of a castle sitting proud against a golden sky and later an umbral hell, of a place they once called home...
They found themself dreaming of a place named Troia...
L'vinia Fay
Age: 1500+
Pronouns: It/Its
Jobs: Machinist*
*L'vinia doesn't fall under the standard job umbrella, drifting closer to being a gunslinger than a machinist.
Dormant for over 1500 years, L'vinia was discovered by an expedition team in the ruins of a Mhachi fringe town just southwest of Coerthas. Its dormant body transferred hands countless time as a curiosity before winding up in the hands of the Seedseers of Gridania. There it would remain until its body came into direct contact with Ayami, stirring L'vinia to life once more.
Once obedient to a fault, L'vinia was freed from the enchantment placed upon it by its former master with the help of Ayami and Cait Sith. Now truly free for the first time in its life, L'vinia chose to steal a Manacutter and fly off to parts unknown, leaving only a note begging its former friends not to follow. Where it's been all this time is a mystery to everyone, though talk has been spreading in Shaaloani of an unkillable gunman who bears a striking resemblance to the wayward Doll...

Disney's post-Renaissance: An alternate Timeline
Tumblr media
Round 3 of my alternate universes involving Disney eras. I should note, though: given that I made the AU for the revival era first, it exists independent of my AUs for the renaissance and post-renaissance eras, which exist together here. BE WARNED: as someone who lived during this era, it's one I am not a big fan of, so I'm making a bunch of changes based on my own opinion; while the renaissance era AU had additions, the post-renaissance AU has deletions/replacements.
Tumblr media
Fantasia 2000--The film turns out the same as it did in the OG timeline (perhaps better box office, though), but in this version, the animation style for "The Firebird Suite" leaves an immediate impact on audiences.
Tumblr media
Kingdom of the Sun--In this AU, "Pocahontas" (named "Amonute" in my AU) had more financial returns and the screening of KOTS had better audience feedback, so the concern of a serious, ambitious film wasn't a problem for Disney--though they did replace Huaca with Kronk for some light-heartedness. Despite all odds, Disney is able to crank out an original Incan musical epic. A spoiled king trades places with a lookalike peasant, but when the king is kidnapped and the peasant is blackmailed by the royal vizier to become a figurehead for her to rule through, they must get help from a kindhearted noblewoman and a tough female guard. If they fail, the kingdom could very well become the Kingdom of the Shadows. While the casting of non-Indigenous or Latino actors did earn some negative press (unless you want to imagine that they made this a priority to cast Latino actors), the film received overall praise and comparisons to renaissance-era films which hadn't been seen for a little while now. The film grossed roughly $400 million at the box office and gained positive critical reception, with a sequel series focusing on more twin hijinks, and Yzma's nephews Zim and Zam are used a bit more to balance them out. The king (called Manco) and his love interest join the Disney Princess/Disney Prince lineup.
Tumblr media
Atlantis: The Lost Empire--Due to the success of "Kingdom of the Sun," "Atlantis" was retooled in two ways: it was to be made a musical, and more focus would be put on the magical aspects of Atlantis instead of the technology aspects. Needless to say, this caused quite a bit of ruckus in production one year out, but they pulled through with $350 million at the box office and received a sequel direct-to-video film shortly after. Kida and Milo joined the DP lineup, but James Arnold Taylor dubs most of Milo's subsequent appearances. That said, it was surmised that the film might've made more had it been 3D, given the growing demand for the style.
Tumblr media
Lilo & Stitch--Mostly the same, but Nani and Lilo's relationship gets more attention (in the OG film, it was important, but the B-story to Lilo and Stitch's relationship), as well as more Disney references and appearances as shown via the parody trailers. The latter detail set the stage for the cameos in "Ralph Wrecks the Internet." The film meets roughly the same success, but it gains a little bit more thanks to previous films being more successful.
Tumblr media
Treasure Planet--Mostly the same, but a crucial change is made. Given the ambition the film had already with it's story and plans to combine 2D and 3D animation, the developers noted the change in atmosphere in the animation landscape (notably with the feedback from "Atlantis") and decided to make the film completely 3D instead. While this disappoints some fans, it's financially a smarter decision, making $300 million at the box office and Disney greenlighting a straight-to-DVD sequel (and a rumored TV series that never materialized).
Tumblr media
Brother Bear--Given that "The Lion King" is with humans in this AU and "Amonute" got more praise, CEO Michael Eisner suggested a combination of the films, making another Native American musical and using animal motifs. Seeing how all their musicals had been 2D up to now, this art style was kept to not risk losing the core audience. Noting the positive feedback of the sibling relationships in "Kingdom of the Sun" and "Lilo & Stitch," they push forward with a story about three brothers who go on a journey for Kenai, the youngest, to discover his true self after being bestowed a bear totem, which he attributes to being a premonition of a poor future. In a flip to the common trope of female leads being able to speak with animals, once the brothers receive their totems, they are able to do so as well--except for Kenai, who vehemently resents and rejects his totem. The film grosses over $350 million with praise for it's depiction of Native American culture, though there was concern about the use of spirit animals being misconstrued.
Tumblr media
Rumpelstiltskin--In 2004, Disney released a powerful tale of motherhood, focusing on a young queen named Aurelia who finds her fairy tale happy ending thanks to her ability to spin straw into gold and save the kingdom from poverty. However, things go awry when a clever warlock appears and reveals that the queen isn't as graceful, clever, or skillfull as she had pretended, as he had helped her gain the king's favor, and now was taking their child as payment for it. Paying homage to classic Disney films (the animation style and storytelling is reminiscent of "Sleeping Beauty,"), the musical concerns Aurelia racing to find this creature who stole her child, as well as the name that could banish him once and for all. The film has been labeled "twisted Disney" due to Rumpelstiltskin changing his form to several darker versions of iconic Disney characters. Like with "Beauty and the Beast" (in my AU), they took influence from the film "Labyrinth," with the writers for the film researching child abduction for a more authentic and moving piece. The film's darkness made it a dark horse at the box office, grossing similar numbers to the other musicals, though it's still viewed as underrated; Aurelia was originally placed within the Disney princess line, but subsequently removed due to her physical similarities to Princess Aurora and their similar names, as well as the fact that Aurelia was a queen and controversially referred to as "too old" to join the line (both points are a source of contention among fans).
Tumblr media
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe--Released in 2005 and sometimes just marketed as "Narnia," Disney had been inspired to make the film following the success of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," though they originally planned to relocate the film to America instead of England, which eventually fizzled out. The animation style is heavily influenced by the animation style for "The Firebird Suite" from "Fantasia 2000" in order to truly transport the audience. The film plays off mostly the same as the OG timeline with similar figures (and let's assume the OG cast was re-used, with singing voices when needed; it was mostly the magical creatures who sang in the film to give Narnia a fairy tale vibe while the Pevensies were "real" people), becoming somewhat of a phenomenon thanks to it's large box office and nostalgia for fans of the book. Jadis was seen as a blueprint for Elsa later on, and Lucy was seen as too young to join the Disney princess line.
Tumblr media
Tam Lin--Released in 2006, Disney made a musical based on the folktale "Tam Lin," about a young woman who vows to rescue a man from the queen of the fairies. Given that the subject matter was similar to "Rumpelstiltskin" and this was their FOURTH musical in a row, Disney was concerned about taking on the tale and having to top (or at least meet) previous successes. As such, they did several things: the film embraces the Scottish background in contrast to previous European-esque fantasy films that went for a less clear atmosphere; the female protagonist, named Máirín, is a shy loner in comparison to the outgoing Disney females, while the male protagonist, named Sachairi, was a bit more rugged and mature than previous Disney males, inspired by video game leads like Chris Refield and Solid Snake; the story also takes influence from several other Scottish tales, such as "Rushen Coatie," and "The Sea-Maiden." The result led to a story about a woman who ventures to save the kingdom with her trusty red cow when the prince is kidnapped and imprisoned by a wicked selkie. The film earned praise for it's reliance on a specific European culture (even if some details were incorrect) and grossed $400 at the box office. Along with this, Máirín was originally intended to be a redhead, but her design eventually opted for dark brown hair, with Snow White and Natalie Portman as influences (though Pixar did use this for their own Scottish princess). As one might've expected, Máirín and Sachairi join the Disney royal line.
Tumblr media
Meet the Robinsons--Pretty much the same film, though perhaps it makes a bit more money due to the fact that it's the first non-musical Disney film in 5 years and people were curious to know if musicals was all they were good at.
Tumblr media
Night and Day--Released in 2008 after much turmoil, Disney comes up with a musical loosely inspired by "The Frog Princess" and "The Nightingale," the film revolves around a Korean prince who ventures with a magpie to find the secrets of immortality to save his ailing father. The film was more comedic in tone than previous musicals, but ironically seen as one of Disney's more intimate and emotional films, particularly between shy Prince Jiyu and Sujin (the magpie turned human), and it's praise for accuracy for Korean culture--except certain details like linguistics. It's noted that "Avatar: The Last Airbender" was a heavy influence, and while financially successful (making about $300 million), it's seen as underrated in contrast to the success reached during the revival era. But at least Sujin and Jiyu joined the Disney royal line.
Hope you don't mind me re-writing your childhood! My rewrite stuff with the Disney eras is probably done, but maybe I'll rewrite the concept of their direct-to-DVD films sometime.

DuckTales (2017) Headcanon
Tumblr media
After The Last Adventure! Phantom Blot lost not only his job at F.O.W.L. but also his job at Funso’s Fun Zone (thanks to a disgruntled ex F.O.W.L. agent leaking out that their Funso is played by a F.O.W.L. agent). He managed to lay low thanks to Pepper who is allowing him to crash at her home with her (and all of her cats. She’s definitely a cat lady) until he can get back on his feet. Whether their relationship is romantic or platonic is up to you, cause frankly I don’t know
I don’t know why. But I just love thinking about how Funso’s Fun Zone would react and what their public response would be if the world ever found out that they hired not one but two villains in their family fun place. But one things for sure, they would definitely fire Phantom Blot
Also yeah, Pepper owns more than one cat. I can just see them rubbing against Phantom Blot while Pepper is like “Awwww, she likes you Blotty!!”
Pepper also lives in a small suburban home that’s one floor and has lawn gnomes and flamingos on her lawn. Some of the flamingos have yo-yos cause Fantasia 2000 reference

My Disney Villain Categorization because I have lost control of my life
Disclaimer: I am ONLY counting movies from the Walt Disney Animation Studios line-up. That means, no Pixar, DisneyToon, no live-action, etc etc.
If y'all ever want to know what kind of Disnerd I am..... here ya go. I don't come up with theories or headcanons. Instead, I categorize! So here's the giant list no one asked for lmao:
~~~
There are Four Major Categories:
Totalitarianism
Personal Grudge
Means to an End
Ambiguous
Each category has two sub-categories, plus sometimes an extra sub-sub-category:
Totalitarianism: The Selfish Tyrant & Imperialism
Personal Grudge: Rise to Power (Aka, Hate Your Dad) & Obsession
Means to an End: Animal/Child Cruelty & Forces of Nature
Ambiguous: Intangible & It's Complicated
Without any further ado, let's dive in!
Tier 1: Totalitarianism
The Selfish Tyrant
What it says on the tin. Already a monarch, already has power, and just abuses it for their own personal reasons.
Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland)
Prince John (Robin Hood)
King Candy/Turbo (Wreck-It Ralph)
King Magnifico (Wish)
Imperialism
Even if it's not literally imperialism, these are the villains who are interested in "spreading" their power, to subjugate others for their own selfish needs, etc.
The Horned King (The Black Cauldron)
Ratigan (The Great Mouse Detective)
Gov. Ratcliffe (Pocahontas)
Shan Yu (Mulan)
Lt. Rourke (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)
Alameda Slim (Home on the Range)
King Runeard (Frozen 2)
~~~
Tier 2: Personal Grudge
Rise to Power (aka, Hate You/Your Dad)
This formula was particularly popular during the Renaissance (almost HALF of those films employed this!)
Ursula (The Little Mermaid)
Jafar (Aladdin)
Scar (The Lion King)
Hades (Hercules)
Yzma (The Emperor's New Groove)
Dr. Facilier (The Princess and the Frog)
Hans (Frozen)
Bellwether (Zootopia)
Obsession
These are the villains who don't want or need more power, but rather are fixated on the protagonist, for one reason or another.
Revenge:
Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty)
Shere Khan (The Jungle Book)
Amos Slade (The Fox and the Hound)
Bowler Hat Guy (Meet the Robinsons)
Callaghan (Big Hero 6)
Control:
Most of these are toxic romantic abusers, but familial ones are counted as well.
Lumpjaw (Fun & Fancy Free; the Bongo sequence)
Lady Tremaine (Cinderella)
Gaston (Beauty and the Beast)
Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Jack-in-the-Box (Fantasia 2000; the Steadfast Tin Soldier sequence)
Mother Gothel (Tangled)
Ralph (Ralph Breaks the Internet)
~~~~~
Tier 3: Means to an End
Cruelty
These are the villains who have no real interest in "power," but are willing to use unethical methods to get what they want (usually monetary or material desires).
Animal:
Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmatians)
Edgar (The Aristocats)
Clayton (Tarzan)
Child:
Every single Pinocchio villain (besides Monstro lol)!!
Medusa (The Rescuers)
Sykes (Oliver & Company)
McCleach (The Rescuers Down Under)
Forces of Nature
What it says on the tin. These aren't really "bad guys," no matter how scary they appear. They're just Nature and a source of conflict for our heroes.
Monstro (Pinocchio)
T-Rex (Fantasia; the Rite of Spring sequence)
"Man" (Bambi)
The Wolf (Make Mine Music; Peter & the Wolf sequence)
The Rat (Lady and the Tramp)
Black Bear (The Fox and the Hound)
The Firebird (Fantasia 2000; the Firebird Suite sequence)
Carnotaurus (Dinosaur)
Te Ka (Moana)
Don't Fuck with the Fae
Same principle as Forces of Nature, only fantastical/supernatural examples, and as a result, are often more petty or cruel. But mostly, they don't actually do any harm when left alone. But if you cross their path....
Zeus (Fantasia; the Pastoral Symphony sequence)
Chernabog (Fantasia; the Night on Bald Mountain sequence)
Willy the Giant (Fun & Fancy Free; Mickey and the Beanstalk sequence)
The Headless Horseman (The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad; Sleepy Hollow sequence)
Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone)
Tamatoa (Moana)
~~~
Tier 4: Ambiguous
Intangible
I'm just gonna list the films that have a sorta "villain"-ish, in the sense that there's a major conflict/theme that hurts the protagonists, but is mostly very.... vague or metaphorical.
Dumbo (society/prejudice)
Lady and the Tramp (classism/animal cruelty)
The Fox & the Hound (yes, I counted Amos Slade and the Bear previously, but the "true" villain is Prejudice)
Brother Bear (ironically, would fit under "Obsession/Revenge"..... if the target was more than just an ordinary bear)
Chicken Little (society/bad parents)
Bolt (reality)
Encanto (generational trauma)
Strange World (generational trauma)
It's Complicated:
Honestly, I straight up could not decide on a category for these movies because their "villains" are much more complicated than your average Disney antagonist.
Lilo & Stith
Treasure Planet
Raya and the Last Dragon
And finally!
No Villains:
Here's the handful of Disney movies with absolutely ZERO villains or major antagonists or themes that can be interpreted as the "true" villain/conflict.
(I don't count the Heffalumps and Woozles, because they only exist in Pooh's dream lol)
Saludos Amigos
The Three Cabelleros
Melody Time
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh (2011)

Not sure if you've posted about this before, by what happened to the other three songs in Indistinguishable from Magic? Lost in the Cosmos obviously still exists, but the others disappear by late 2013.
Also, was The Librarian about Ivy?
Finally, was GPTvsTMK five different songs once?
I do know this!!
By my understanding, Lost In The Cosmos & its sibling songs were initially part of a longer song set similar to GPTVTMK. But it never got far enough into development for the other three songs to emerge.
Eventually, (presumably around late 2013) they were scrapped. (but i CLING ONTO HOPE for The Wanderings Of Drumbot Brian to eventually become real)
So far as I am aware, The Librarian is in a similar boat as Cyberian Demons, where it was written, preformed, but never recorded. I am fairly certain it was about Ivy. The Librarian was alleged preformed live in one instance that I am aware of -

At the dc&tm gig pictured above. (along with The Alchemist (don't ask, I don't know anything), Homesick, One Eye'd Jacks, Cyberian Demons, Loreli pt. v, Fantasia and alive, i cried)
