#this has been an original post #my pollies #polls #dreams #driving #i realized today that while im obvs not the driver in my dreams im also not specifically on public transit most of the time #im just. a passenger #no concept of other passengers or a driver or even what kind of vehicle it is #my dream logic is very much ''if its not relevant to the situation who cares''#also ''why generate actual human beings when you can just have the vague sense that a place is populated''#idk why im thinking abt this this morning specifically since last nights dreams didnt even involve being in a vehicle #not the ones i remember anyway #i was just thinking abt patterns in my dreams in general #cause my brain does this weird thing where in all my anxiety dreams im living in the apt i lived in through elementary + part of high school #like yes its the place ive spent the most time in but also. i havent lived there in TWELVE YEARS #and i mean i did hate that place but its not like ALL my trauma was experienced there #its just weird #dreams are weird #clouds dreams

all the while society conflates "being an adult" with "having a proper job" and "having money to make arbitrary Adult Purchases" disabled people who can't work - or can only work part time or can only do entry level baby jobs - will never be 'allowed' to be adults

you can say "being an adult is looking after yourself you don't have to have a job!!!" all you want but most people who say that will still assume anybody who doesn't either can't or won't 'look after themselves' actually. and every 'marker' of 'adulthood' that's observable and thus actually counts or whatever loops back around to... having a job and 'contributing' something

#yeah i have netflix on all day #i am quite literally signed off of work for the -rest of my life-#what the fuck else would you like me to do with my time when most people are in fact at work #or did you think i can't have the tv on and put laundry away at the same time or something #must i work on commissions on silence in a dour room to be perceived as an adult #anyway 'looking after yourself/your home/your pet' is not observable #to anybody who doesn't like ACTUALLY live in your house #unless you are extremely obviously NOT doing it #if a tree falls in a forest etc #owning a house? job. like not even 'in this economy? lol'#disabled people LITERALLY can't because we aren't allowed to have enough savings for a deposit #car? would you honestly trust me with a vehicle lol but also: job #you mostly cannot buy a car without one it's a requirement for the lease #otherwise you aren't 'trusted' to pay it on time #incidentally most landlords will also - perfectly legally - refuse to rent to you because you are going to be unreliable with the rent #which is being paid directly by the gov anyway like take your trust issues up with them bro #a family? if i get married or cohabit with a partner my income gets sliced in half #so to support even myself let alone a child would require. drumroll please. employment #savings? adults have savings right? yeah but unlike you i have a gov enforced cap on mine #'good furniture not shit from ikea' (someone has remarked that ikea furniture is 'college dorm-y' it's going here)#i mean do i have to say it

becoming largely chill about most things. but i give myself permission to be mad about car infrastructure, car dependence, and cars flagrantly ignoring pedestrian right-of-way and generally endangering beings of flesh. because this is one of the few truly moral axis of this world

#also like increasingly cars piss me off in the abstract too as like #ok like in the united states unless you live in a couple large cities and a handful of specific smaller cities #and like maybe some small towns that built up a decent city center by say 1900 and avoided being disemboweled by the interstates #u need a car to work to get health care to get food but like we all know this #BUT #we all also know this. but it is like one of many traps to bind u to the capitalist economy inextricably #you must cough up gasoline prices and insurance costs and maintenance #and if ur the most likely to be burdened by these costs it probably also means you're making car payments too in a form of debt peonage #like once i thought about owner-operator trucks and how you pay to own the vehicle to work to pay off the vehicle #before realizing that this is just american car ownership for a large number of people in its most brazen and naked form #like we're all (ok not me because i dont have a car) owner operators who own a car to work to earn money to pay off the car #samsara. all is samsara #the wheel spins and spins and spins the wheel goes around

ive been sitting on this one for awhile but any thoughts on motorcyclist hazel? first of all in a normie au its 👌👌👌 ofc but in general she and arion are bffs but he cant be around ALL the time. and she's definitely a horse girl always BUT she's gotta feed that speed demon inside of her yknow? i just feel like hazel deserves a bike.

YES!!!!! especially in a modern au because she's an adrenaline junkie!!!! she'd be crazy enough to learn tricks and stuff too. she and nico could figure out if you could shadowtravel a moving bike and keep driving on the other side and similarly awful ideas. from her rides with arion we know she feels basically invulnerable when she's going that fast so i think similarly on a bike she'd be almost too powerful. frank gets duped into riding in the sidecar once and is traumatized forever.
