but you know what could be fun? if it’s not a simple “you’re born with a tattoo of your soulmate’s initials” thing, but “you’re born with a tattoo of a string of significant initials, enemies and best friends and the love of your life included.” good luck figuring out which one’s which!

(a possibility: tommy calling buck ‘evan’ because, not to get his hopes up or anything, but one of the last pairs of letters he hasn’t already accounted for in his string is EB.)

(another possibility: buck has TKTK in the middle of his string and finds it darkly amusing—yeah, of course there’s missing data in his list of significant people. he maybe gets a tattoo or two about it. what’s a couple extra TKTKs on his body, really?)

birkhoff is in love with everyone. birkhoff's type is breathing. birkhoff kisses everyone. it shouldn't bother her so much, but it does. it hurts. he's been open about his feelings for all of them: bellamy, nikita, michael. she can recount every word he used to describe them. she conveniently has discarded their conversation on the beach where he told her he was in love with her, and what it felt like being in love with her. she mistook it for hyperbole, nothing more. birkhoff fantasized about her because she was there and passably attractive and gave him attention.

for all his talk about her being hot, about thinking about her, he sure did sound like kissing her would be the worst thing ever. like he could do better. he didn't want to ruin their friendship, at least that's what he claimed. maybe that should be enough. he wasn't a field agent; he was never forced to pretend with anyone before. why should he start now? why did she take that so personally?

she should have stopped pressing him and just gone with bellamy or michael instead. they've been there, and they know the drill. if she was gonna fake date anyone, she'd want it to be birkhoff. he's the person she feels most comfortable with. clearly he didn't feel the same after all.
