Time to talk about Runic Tiara
Tumblr media
I actually thoughg about this a lot and I came up with the most probable theory. More logic is that this tiara was made by Gramorr when he found out about Praxina's memory loss. I'm a Pole so I watched Lolirock with Polish dubbing, Idk how Mephisto's sentece sounds in different languages but in Polish dub he said: "To jest tiara z runicu" that in English means: "It's tiara FROM runic". FROM runic so it suggests runic is a thing, in this situation maybe it's a type of narcotic crystal using to brainwashing? OR MAYBE runic is real name of black crystal using to black magic? Gosh, this show is so interesting

Pappy and The Staff: Thoughts on the Twins' Past
Following up on my previous post,
This scene in Lucky Star was super short and not that meaningful, but it was literally the ONLY time in the show where the twins mentioned something about their past or family (if you don't count the time Mephisto got hit in the head by a lobster crystal monster, and started asking "mommy" when they were going to the merry-go-round or whatever)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So they got a special powerful artifact in their family that is only passed down to the men. mmhh
Which could mean nothing, I know. Maybe it has nothing to do with misogyny, and it's simply a "harmless" family tradition. Maybe the female line in their family also has stuff they pass down, and this was just a regular Praxina moment because for once she couldn't have something her brother had. Which is a very sibling thing to do actually. Also, she was definetly jeaulous in this scene. And maybe a bit mad (hurt??) he didn't tell her about it.
Or maybe not. Who knows.
Plus, Mephisto rubbing salt in the wound, you gotta love him.
Still, this moment is definetly giving "Whoever Pappy was, he liked Mephisto better, and Prax is still bitter about it" vibes.
I think I heard somewhere that Pappy was their uncle (did he just visit sometimes?? did he live with them??? who knows) and if he has the staff, he's probably their mother's brother, or their father's older brother, who didn't have sons. That would make Mephisto the heir of the staff.
Totally unrelated to the original point of this post but that man was definetly the fun uncle (he was a court jester, c'mon) and he DEFINETLY preferred Mephisto over Praxina. Like, 1) the boy was gonna get the staff from him so it's obvious he would want to teach him and spend more time would him, 2) as a court jester, I'm assuming he preferred Mephisto's more bumbling personality, and 3) homegirl Praxina was not happy at all when Mephisto talked about the staff's origins, and she spoke about the man with a lot of disdain (mostly because of his position. which could also be her rejecting her family's "lower" or "unbecoming" status). also she was clearly jeaulous. So definetly not a big fan of him.
We know she's "always been an overachiever", as Mephisto put it in Home Pt1, while being yeeted into the stratosphere by Amaru, so i imagine she was already pretty good at magic when she was younger (good for her age, and better than Mephisto, at the time). And I headcanon she also wanted Pappy's approval at some point, and he... well- didn't care for her that much/as much as Mephisto.
To be fair, Praxina definetly strikes me as being that one child that works really hard to be impressive, but the adults around her are just like "Eh- that's nice. Anyways look at the other one who just did a cartweel and fell face flat into the concrete, omg awwwwww, so adorable and fun".
I don't think she was ever very "socially adept", I mean we saw Forget You!Praxina, and she was a social disaster. Maybe she didn't really know how to connect with people very well or people found her to be too abrasive or difficult to get along with, so she just- convinced herself she didn't need anyone else anyways.
Nothing too dramatic, but it can really shape a child.
And then Gramorr came along and their family went POOF somehow, and suddenly magical ability was all that mattered and not how "likable" or "sociable" you were, and it made her feel validated in a way. Maybe that's why she seems more interested in taking over Ephidea than Mephisto.
Maybe deep down she thinks that she's just naturally "unlikable", so it's easier to be "evil" on purpose, because then at least people have a reason to dislike her. She doesn't want to acknowledge the fear that if she did ever try to be nice, or to genuinely be herself without filters, she isn't sure she would ever good at it or accepted.
Or maybe this is just cause she gives me Azula vibes and I'm trying to project my Azula obssession onto her but whatever. MOMMY ISSUES. And UNCLE ISSUES. FUCK YEAH.
And the opposite goes for Mephisto, who Gramorr seems to have less patience for, despite him seemingly being at an even magical level with his sister.
Because while I think Praxina's struggles and insecurities come from a difficulty in forming connections, I think Mephisto's own issues also stem from comparing or being compared to her in terms of magical ability, cunning and ruthlessness. Which could've come from the parents (though we don't know anything about them or what the family dynamic was like while they were alive), or just one of them, or only started with Gramorr himself.
Honestly, the twins' backstory has got to be one of the most well kept secrets this show has.
Welp- that's it for today, i'm all out of brain power. Super interested to learn more about Ephidea and the twinss

But sadly, things are gone crazier and darker situations as the fate of 'The World of 12' rests on their shoulders.
K5 News FM learns exclusively that the runtime for this 4th Season of Wakfu is 22 minutes long, with a final 13 new episodes.

It's crucial to emphasize that intentions alone are insufficient; actions play a pivotal role. Unfortunately, Marinette in seasons 4 and 5 failed to grasp this lesson. While her noble intentions are commendable, the series illustrates the repercussions of neglecting the importance of one's actions. Despite her professed love for Adrien/Chat Noir, her missteps in her partnership and the finale, particularly her decision to gaslight her love interest about his father being a hero, are significant.
The writers' tendency to downplay her actions and portray her as a white knight savior for Adrien is cute but troubling, considering her lack of control or involvement in his family affairs. The episode "Ephemeral" stands out to me as an irredeemable moment marked by lies. Despite fandom attempts to justify her behavior, the stark reality remains. Marinette, now diverging from her initial likable qualities, falls short when compared to strong female characters from shows like early Winx Club, Totally Spies, and Lolirock. She now mirrors Master Fu's approach closely, but the expectations in the fandom are disappointingly low when it comes to understanding her partner. She's quick to suspect him of hiding something, yet when the tables turn, excuses abound. Despite being a guardian and team leader, there's a tendency among fans to overlook her actions. True feminism and leadership involves inspiring others and supporting those in need, yet she doesn't even try in these aspects.
The recurring theme of Marinette's mistakes, coupled with her lack of evident growth, raises questions about the character's development. The fact that she is 14 intensifies the concern about the lessons being imparted to the show's target demographic. Despite fan theories, the internalized lessons seem questionable, especially for young viewers who are placed in situations like Adrien or Chloe, what do they learn? From what I got from the show... the narrative casting Adrien as the virtuous victim and Chloe as the villainous victim is disgraceful. The notion that personal growth and change are unattainable is a lesson that no one should adopt is messed up. Now looking back critically examining the show, instances where Marinette defends or apologizes for Audrey or Gabriel's abusive actions which are very troubling makes a lot of sense because this show is abuse apologist and because she's our titular character she's the voicebox of the show "messaging" . While some viewers may sympathize and defend her based on their long-term attachment to me the show having the potential negative impact on the younger audience cannot be ignored.
The disappointment of those deeply invested in the series is understandable, but for those with a more detached perspective you might feel fortunate like I do to have a more detached perspective on this front.

Deffo not my greatest work and experienced character designers might cringe but uhhh lolirock oc!!!!!!!!! Tried to combine the girl's iconic dresses with the outfits seen on male Ephedians, as well as the non-lolirock characters I took inspo from!!! I've been really into space lately so he's star and space themed... He probably bites people /j
Tumblr media
Flags featured: Omnisexual, Trans, Quoiromantic (I'm projecting 😭)
Characters I took inspo from: Battamonda (Hirogaru Sky PreCure), DEX (Vocaloid), and Red Leader (Scrapped design from Eddsworld and Super Average)
My story for him is that his parents abandoned him when he was 5 and Gramorr took him under his wing, but when he was 13 he realized what was going on was bad and peaced out. When he later heard about Mephisto and Gramorr dying and Iris's need to protect Earth from Praxina, he decided to join the princesses as not only revenge but to see someone get the life he wished he had (that someone being Iris and her fight for her homes and family). Because of his upbringing he knows dark magic and helps teach the girls how to easily avoid and fix spells quicker, and even uses it during training to help them understand the severity of it. I have a lot of theories about dark crystal magic that I may share one day but that day is not today--
I'm going to make him a music playlist I can promise that
Anyways, making him was super fun but it's like midnight where I live when I'm posting this and I started at 9!!!!!! SO I'M GOING TO EEP!!!!!
I'm excited to see everyone's opinions lmao
goodnight :3

The Twins’ Were Meant To Be The Next Court Jesters
Just compiling all the info for this theory into one post for posterity
The twins have been confirmed multiple times by the show staff to not be royals. They are not a prince and princess.
Tumblr media
Despite this they both (Praxina in particular) have quite a bit of knowledge about the royal family of Ephedia and in Praxina’s case Xeris as well. The latter, according to the staff tumblr, can be attributed to the Xerian royal family being well known across the planet.
Tumblr media
P: “Where did you get that cane?”
M: “Old family relic. Passed down through the male line to the-”
P: “From Pappy, the court jester?!?!” [Tries to grab the staff]
M: “See, this is why I didn’t tell you Praxina. You’re always so negative.”
In Lucky Star Mephisto wields a staff he says he received from his Pappy. This is a broad nickname that could be used for several male relatives. However in the French dub Praxina instead calls their relative “Grand-pere”, meaning Grandfather. This confirms that the twins are the grandchildren of the now former (current before Gramorr took over) court jester of Ephedia. This is most likely referring to the kingdom of Ephedia where Iris’ parents rule, as opposed to the planet.
As this staff is only passed through the male line we can also assume that the twins’ father or any uncles are out of the picture.
The fact that it was given directly to Mephisto implies that he will be the one to follow in his Pappy’s footsteps and become the next jester. Theoretically Praxina may have gotten a similar item through the female line to cement her role.
Mephisto’s reluctance to tell her about the staff and her negative reaction upon seeing it could mean that Prax resents her future role as co-jester with her brother.
We see a similar resentment of privilege in Lucky Star when Praxina disparages Lily Bowman’s mansion. Remarking: “What a vulgar display of luxury”. Perhaps a comment made by a former servant embittered by a lifetime spent seeing Ephedian royalty having the best of everything in their own palace back home.
Speaking of home Mephisto makes several references to Ephedia as home, but these could be construed as referring to the planet Ephedia itself or the Kingdom of the same name.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“We were just practicing combat moves. Balancing and handstand are key to-” (Sirens!)
The twins consistently display great acrobatic talent both as individuals and as a duo. We see this in “Sirens” and “Dancing Shoes” to name just a few.
Praxina in particular has an affinity for flips, and is often seen doing back handsprings to avoid getting hit by spells.
All skills that would be odd in a normal citizen or soldier, but make sense for those who had been training for a jester’s position during their earlier lives.
They continue this training during the current timeline (as seen above in “Sirens”) despite no longer serving the crown. Including moves that are very obviously not combat related, implying they had a history of performance.
All in all I believe with what evidence we have there’s a pretty decent case for this being a large part of the twins’ past. It influences their physical actions, interactions with others, and overall personalities to such a degree that it should be at least considered as a possibility when thinking about their backstories. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Python Ponders: Iris = Izzy?
Tumblr media
Mephisto: The Pack asked about another theory, and someone suggested this so... here.
Tumblr media
Mephisto: I can’t actually confirm if they’re the same height, because they’ve never stood next to each other the same people. And I don’t count! Until I successfully meet Izzy in person you can’t use me as a ruler.
Tumblr media
Mephisto: That’s about it. There isn’t actually a lot here, you guys see patterns where they don’t exist. I don’t actually believe in this at all, by the way.

HOT TAKE: Is there sexism on Ephidea?
This may be just me wanting to rant about smth cause i'm bored as shit rn
So-
Is there sexism on Ephidea? I mean, it definetly doesn't appear so and, then again, considering that there's magic in this universe, worldbuilding wise, it would make sense for gender not to play that much of an important role when considering someone's overall strenght.
I imagine that, in Ephidea, or at least amongst the royals, physical strengh is not valued as much as someone's magical abilities, given that the latter is the defining factor for power. So the biological differences in strenght/muscle mass between men and women wouldn't be seen as that important in the grand scheme of things.
All evidence points to Ephidea being a fairly equal society when it comes to gender. Hell, they're literally mainly ruled by women, which is something the Team has kinda stated in the past (if i remember correctly, they said the kingdoms of Ephidea were more like "queendoms", implying that female royals were more important/powerful than their male counterparts). So fuck it, we could even state that it's a matriarchal society. Which would honestly be so slay of them but alas.
HOWEVER.
The Team has also said once on their Tumblr account that people that are NOT royals are not able to "transform", which implies that they are usually much weaker than people from royalty.
"But Mephisto, Praxina, Lev, and those other two twin mfs that appeared in one episode and then disappeared are not royals, and they can kinda go toe to toe with the princesses!!"
Uhm yeah, but they were all using black magic. And have all probably trained intensely (gotta give them some merit too). Which I bet could make a "regular" Ephidean much stronger. I mean, if dark magic didn't have its pros, no one would do it. The forbidden fruit gotta be appetizing in some way.
Regardless, because the "common people"'s magic is weaker (which I imagine consists on some basic spells to make their general day to day lives easier, like levitating stuff, maybe boiling water, creating light sources, or crystalizing small dangers, etc...), wouldn't it make sense for other factors of strenght, like PHYSICAL strenght, to be valorized more in those communities?
I wouldn't say it's as bad as on Earth, especially considering that the most powerful royals on Ephidea are women, so even if that doesn't extend to regular ephideans, it definetly wouldn't allow or feed the narrative that women are weaker and emotional and unable to lead and blah blah blah. But it definetly opens the possibility of male commoners taking advantage of their "strenght" and impose it on their female counterparts.
Kinda not sure where I'm going with this, because I literally just started writing my thoughts as they came. This whole thought process literally originated from that one scene in Lucky Star, when Mephisto whips out his cane thingie (this sounds wrong, but you get what i mean), and says it's passed down to the "male line", and my brain started spiralling for no reason at all.
Yeah, no, I don't really think there's actual sexism on Ephidea, but maybe there's more nuance to it, amongst the people. And I love reading too much into things, so you're welcome.

Lolirock headcanon: Mephisto and Praxina's parents are from different kingdoms and that's why Praxina's color is red and Mephisto's color is green. We know there are two kingdoms that haven't been seen yet, a red one and a yellow one. So maybe one is from Borealis and one is from the red kingdom?

Hi! (it’s me again 😅) Do you have any coloring tips when it comes to more complex scenes (I mean a full scene with a background and characters - each character with a separate color palette)? I’m currently working on a comic and I catched myself really struggling with the coloring to not make it scattered 😕
Hi again! Ooof that’s a really good question and unfortunately I don’t have much in the way of helpful insights on that front. Color is an incredibly complex subject and I know very little about it. Try starting with a values pass, like grayscale to make sure that there’s plenty of contrast between the bg and the characters. And beyond looking at books or other resources specifically about color theory, I’d say try looking at what other artists have done with similar scenarios-- comics and animated shows with large casts of colorful characters interacting with backgrounds seems like it’d probably be a great way to learn some useful stuff. No idea if this is helpful, or what the color palettes you’re specifically working with are, but here’s a panel from a recent X-Factor issue where saturation still helps a mostly green character stand out from a green background:
Tumblr media
And here’s an example from Celine Lorthiosis’s portfolio for her bg color work on Lolirock (about the most neon color palate I could think of):
Tumblr media
I guess try to think of works you like, that you want to bring to this project, and look and see what those artists did that worked for you. Color is really complicated and there’s hopefully some great resources out there on the topic. As for not making it too scattered, that’s probably a blocking and composition thing. Keeping the focus on the subject of whatever shot you have in the panel is going to help with that regardless of color, but having the colors work with you is going to help that a lot, too. So when you’re composing your panels and your page, maybe try thinking of what color is going to jump out the most and keep track of where that is to draw the eye toward the focal point you want. If that makes sense. Another example from X-Factor of leading composition to the focal point (which is the only bit of purple in the frame).
Tumblr media
And good luck!

Praxina and Mephisto should’ve sang at least once on the show
Tumblr media
I wish that Praxina and Mephisto had gotten to sing on Lolirock. A show all about a group of magical girls masquerading as a band and the villains don’t get to have their spot in the limelight?
Music is one of the ways that magic manifests, according to the first episode.
Plus, concept art of the twins shows Mephisto with an electric guitar weapon. Apparently, the twins were supposed to have a music-based attack while the princesses had voice-based attacks. (Source)
And then Praxina is voiced by Kelly Sheridan (literally the voice of Barbie). We also know that Vincent Tong can sing because he has recorded a song for My Little Pony.
I also like to think that Mephisto has a sweet tenor voice.
Sigh. What could have been.

New Theory
If Auriana does have 32 biological sisters. It means that triplets or more runs in the family or in Voltan people. It might be possible. For me in this picture I can see like two sets of twins ( fraternal twins ) and I think her parents married young. I mean look at the mother, she seems young like late 20s, early 30s or mid 30s during this flashbacks in the S2 E14.
I hope we can see more of them in S3.
Characters belongs to @teamlolirock
