Jack Robbins in EastEnders masterpost

Joplin Sibtain (credited as Chook Sibtain) plays Jack Robbins in 15 episodes. The dates below that have strike-throughs weren’t available when I did my watch, but for the curious/masochistic, all others bar those in Part 4 are on youtube. The episodes from 2001 are currently (February 2023) on UKTV player, free in the UK, labelled Series 17 episodes 144 and 156.

I basically liveblogged each episode with an increasingly deranged number of screenshots (and one hard-won gif in Part 4) though, so if you want to watch Joplin without having to watch EastEnders you don’t have to watch the rest of the episodes, you can just scroll through my posts.

For those who need the warning, just in case, do watch out for - oh, anything that you could imagine putting a trigger warning on, from EDs to euthanasia. It’s a soap, it covers all the bases. Feel free to message me if you want to check anything.

Rush to Relax are a Slovenia based band who must have taken their name from the Eddy Current Suppression Ring LP from 2009. I say that mostly because Mikey Young masters their new LP, "Misli", due out at the end of August 2022.

Truly, this band sounds like it has weened itself on Flying Nun (listen to some of that Chills guitar chime) and Australian bands like Boomgates, School Damage or Chook Race - just listen to the vocal melodies.

As is so often the case these day, this appears to be a multi-label release: Hidden Bay Records (France), Pop Depression (Serbia), and Look Back and Laugh (Slovenia).

Kewis x Child!Reader

Summary: You're still sick

Mommy doesn't get you dressed properly the next day.

She lets you stay in your pyjamas because you're sick. She's sick too but not as sick as you.

Mom, of course, still has her hurt knee but she's the only one not sick in the entire house.

Your head pounds and your nose remains stuffy even as you play with your dinosaur toys, making them attack each other because they're in a war and that's what things do in a war. They fight.

"Open," Mommy says and you firmly clamp your teeth together," Chook, I'm not joking. Open."

She's got a syringe full of medicine in her hands and you refuse to open your mouth.

You've never had good tasting medicine before and you refuse to believe that Mommy's gone out and bought some.

You keep your mouth shut.

"Chook," She says sternly," This will make you feel better."

You sniff, wiping your nose on your shirt and shake your head. You know if you talk, Mommy's going to dose you up so you settle on just glaring, puffing out your cheeks to show her that you're wise to her tricks.

"Chook," She says again," We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Either way, you're taking your medicine."

"Chook," Mom says from the sofa," Come here."

Warily, you skirt around Mommy and run over to Mom, who lifts you up to sit next to her. Immediately, she attacks your sides with tickles and you can't keep your mouth closed anymore, opening it to let out peals of giggles.

Mommy squirts the medicine down your throat and Mom's ticklish hands disappear.

You glare, eyebrows drawing together in outrage. "That was mean!" You say," You cheated!"

Mommy laughs, ruffling your hair. "It was sneaky," She says," Not cheating. You'll feel better soon."

You huff but know she's right, shuffling off the sofa to return to your toys.

Helen joins you, curling up next to your side. Her ear flicks a few times as you continue your dino war. You have to blow your nose a few times because it gets clogged but Mommy is right because the churning of your stomach settles and your head no longer feels like it does when you bang it on a wall by accident.

"What do you want to watch?" Sam asks, channel surfing as she keeps one eye on you playing with Helen.

Kristie sighs. She doesn't look as bad as you did but it's still clear she's sick. She's got a bit of a fever and the end of her nose is all red. "Something that requires me to not think," She groans, massaging her temples to stem off the headache. She's only recently taken her own painkillers so she has a bit of wait until they kick in.

"So trash reality tv?" Sam teases and Kristie whacks her with a pillow.

You're playing nicely on the rug with Helen and your dinosaurs despite how ill you are.

Maybe eating all that dirt gave you a stronger immune system than Kristie thought.

"There's Love Island," Sam offers and you whip your head around.

"No!" You say," That's mine and Auntie Millie's show! You can't watch it! It'll spoil it!"

You sound adamant and Kristie manages to get out a laugh that could have been a cough.

"It's not a new episode, Chook," Sam assures you with her own laugh," It's last season. It's not going to spoil anything."

Your brow furrows for a moment before you're up on your feet. You've got two dinosaurs clutched in your hands as you wiggle yourself between your mothers.

They're sitting close enough that their legs are touching so you make sure to force them apart so you can be comfortable.

"Last season was okay," You tell Kristie very seriously," I will watch with you so you know what's going to happen. Mom, you need to put on Love Island."

Sam keeps laughing. "Oh? I need to, do I Chook?"

"Yes. That's what I just said. You need to, Mom."

With the other options being Deal or No Deal and Flog It, Sam's pretty sure that Love Island was truly her only option and changes the channel.

Clearly, the medicine has perked you up a bit because Kristie doesn't get a moment of respite the entire episode as you narrate what's going on during every single little moment.

Somehow, you manage to put yourself to sleep during it until you're lying draped over Sam and Kristie's laps.

"And we just let Millie watch this show with her?" Kristie asks, dumbstruck and Sam chuckles nervously.

"I didn't think she actually absorbed this much of it," Sam replies," It's like she studied it or something."

You shift a little in your sleep, death gripping your plastic dinosaurs so hard that Kristie can't pry them from your hands.

"Well," Kristie says," At least she's taking her nap without arguing."

"You mean, at least you can take your nap without her interrupting," Sam teases and Kristie rolls her eyes.

She lifts your limp body easily into her arms as she stands up. "Well, just for that. I don't think you can join us for naptime."

"Hey...Kristie! Kristie, wait! I'm sorry! Wait for me!"

Kristie doesn't wait for Sam though as she makes her way to their bedroom.

She settles you in the very middle of the bed but slipping in next to you.

You wiggle a little bit as Kristie tugs you closer, laying a protective hand over your belly just as Sam hobbles in, taking her own place in bed on your other side.

Helen joins in too, leaping up onto the bed and curling herself up around your feet.

"You have to get her to take medicine when we wake up," Kristie says, already half asleep.

"No fair! She's wise to my tricks now!"

"Not my problem, Sam."

Migraines

Summary: You start the day of slightly sick and during training your Mum gets a migraine so you leave early and some of your teammates take care of both of you.

Warning: Migraines, Minor sickness

Steph walked into training slightly late, you were perched on her hip, your head rested on her shoulder, checks a little rosier than usual, as you held onto Lobby your plush lobster.

“Oh Steph, hi” Lia said as she rounded the corner, “do you need help?” the English women, who was just behind the Swiss women, said as she took some of the bags off Steph.

“Oh, thank you, sorry it’s just that someone isn’t feeling the best I don’t think, and is very sooky and clingy, which made getting ready this morning almost impossible, and of course she has to get sick while Dean is away,” she paused for a moment “Oh God, why did I even come in, what if she gets everyone sick, I-”

“Steph,” Leah said as she put a hand on her arm “it’s okay, don’t panic, wasn’t Katie sick last week anyway?” Lia nodded “See so it’s Katie’s fault she’s sick anyway, so if anyone gets sick, its actually all on Katie”.

“Yeah, okay, what am I going to do with her? I didn’t even think about that I was just so focused on getting here” Your Mum panicked slightly.

“I’m not training today, I’ll take her, we can hang out.”

“Thank you, Leah, but are you sure, she isn’t going to give you much personal space and she will be in a mood”.

“I’m sure, I’m in need of some Y/N cuddles anyway”.

Steph turned her head to face you, “Hey chook,” you lifted you head up off her shoulder and look up at her, she brushed some hair out of your face before she continued, “I need to go train, but Leah is going to stay with you, okay? And I promise I’ll come visit whenever we get a break.” You nodded slightly before you were passed off to the tall blonde girl, “Love you,” you Mum said as she placed a kiss on your forehead.

“Ready to head out?” Lia asked Steph.

“Yeah, okay” she replied, and they headed out to the training pitch.

The team was playing some fun skill-based games in training today, they were spilt into teams, your Mum was in a team with Beth, Lia and Caitlin. It was when they went over to grab drinks that Beth asked your Mum a question, “Steph, are you okay?”

“Yeah, it’s just that Dean has gone away, and Y/N is getting sick and-” she stumbles back slightly.

“Woah, Steph, I think you need to sit down,” Lia says as she gently pushes her friend towards the benches.

“No, I can’t, I need to go to check on Y/N and-” she is interrupted by a stabbing pain in her head, she moves her hand up towards her head, with her thumb on her temple and index finger on her forehead she sighed out.

“Shit, I think Katie got you sick,” Caitlin remarked.

“I’ll go get a medic,” Beth said as she walked off.

“Steph, I really do think you need to sit down. Please?” Lia said softly to her friend, gaining concern.

“Yeah okay,” she gave in as she slumped down in a seat, “I can’t be getting sick, I need to look after Y/N” she said before she moved her elbows to rest on her legs, leaning slightly forward, holding her head in her hands, Lia sat herself down next to her and started rubbing her back.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Leah said as the two Women walked in, Lia’s arm was wrapped around Steph’s shoulder’s, the tears in Steph’s eyes indicated that this wasn’t just a visit, but something else.

“Steph just isn’t feeling too well, why are you guys in here?”

“She felt very very hot and kept whimpering in her sleep, so I brought her in here to see if they could do something, and to see if they had children’s medicine which they did, she felt better after that, but is still very tired so we decided to stay here so she could sleep”.

“’m sorry Leah,” your Mum said as she slightly collapsed onto the bed, resting her head back and closing her eyes, you woke up instantly at the sound of your Mum’s voice which made Leah smirked.

“Mama, hug,” you said while making grabby hands in her direction.

“Your Mama’s not feeling well, what if you just stay here with me?”

“No, wan Mama hug” you pouted.

“Leah, its fine just give her here” Leah got up at your Mum’s words and ever so cautiously placed you on her chest, your Mum wrapped her arms around you and a flashed weak smile at the two Women.

As you snuggled into the comfort of your Mum you said, “I love you Mama,”

“I love you too chook,” your Mama gave you a slight squeeze, Leah and Lia frowned at each other when your Mum didn't give you a kiss, she always gave you a kiss if she said I love you, just to really show she did love you, so the fact she didn’t give you one but kept her eyes closed as her head rested back against the bed wasn’t a good sign.

“Hey Steph, where are your keys? We might go and get all your stuff packed up and the car ready and take you both home.” Lia asked your Mum.

“There in my training bag, I think”.

“Okay,” Lia said as she started to stand up “No, don’t go, stay, please”.

“Like mother like daughter I see, it’s okay, you stay, I’ll go get all our stuff and get the car ready, I’ll then come back for little miss, and you can help Steph out.”

It’s now later in the day and Katie and Caitlin have come over to visit, they brought some things for you and your Mum, as they visited your apartment on the way over, they also brought dinner with them. You were sitting in your portable highchair at the table, the girls sitting around you, when you saw a familiar figure appearing.

“Mama,” you call out. “Hey chook” she replies before sitting down in the chair closest to her, resting her head on her arms on the table.

“Feeling any better? I think chook is.” Leah says.

“Worse, that’s good”.

“I’ll get you some more Panadol,” Lia said as she started to stand up.

“Don’t bother Lia, it didn’t help”.

“Bath, Bath” you chime, having now finished your dinner, bath time was quite possibly your favourite part of the day.

“I’ll take her, Wally, you want to come too. I have no clue where anything is” Katie says as she picks you up out of your highchair, Lia nods and starts to walk off, Katie followed her.

“Hey, what’s wrong? Like what actually hurts.” Caitlin asked as she sat herself down on a chair next to Steph and placed a hand on her back.

“My head really hurts, and every time I move everything spins,”

“Is it another migraine?”

“Wait you get migraines, since when Steph? You know you don’t have to hide these things” Leah’s voice was laced with concern; she was uneasy with the fact her friend and teammate hadn’t felt like she could share this.

“Only recently, she’s only ever had 3 and they have all been at Matildas camps, but is it?” Caitlin filled in Leah for Steph, questioning her again.

“I think it might be, but I don’t feel sick,”

“Do you have your meds?”

“No, they’re at home”.

“Are they just strong pain meds,” Caitlin nods “Do you want some of mine? I mean they will be slightly different but like,” Leah offers.

“I don’t know” your Mum’s voice breaks, and her shoulders start shaking, an indication she is crying.

“Hey, it’s okay, maybe we should give them a go,” Caitlin says as she rubs her back trying to comfort her.

“Could I? If that’s okay” “Yeah, sure I’ll just go grab you two and some water.”

“Come on, lets get you to the couch you’ll be more comfortable there,” your Mum nods her head in response and Caitlin helps her get settled on the couch. Shortly after Leah comes back in, handing two pills and a bottle of water to your Mum.

“Thank you Le,” “No problem, anything else I can do for you?”

“No, not currently, I don’t think so. But thank you for looking after both Y/N and I today”.

“She’s okay, she’s just down here, see” Katie says trying to calm you down, you were having fun in your bath until you realised your Mum wasn’t there, you immediately burst into tears at the realisation and kept asking to see her.

“Mama,” you cry out, voice still shaking from your cries, your Mum bolts her body up as an automatic response.

“Fuck,” she sighs out, the sudden movement caused the pain in her head to increase tenfold and sent a wave of nausea through her.

“It’s okay, you moved too fast, just lie back down,” Caitlin says as she helps your Mum lie back down.

“Cait,” “Are you going to be sick? I’ve got a bag here, so if you are its okay.” Caitlin was very good as this by now considering all 3 migraines your Mum had experienced were when she was sharing a room with Caitlin at camp. At camp you benefited from her migraines as you got to have a sleepover with Harper in her Mum’s room.

“No, I think, I’m going to be okay now.”

“Mama,” you say softly as you sniffle.

“I’m okay bubba, I’ve just got a bit of headache, that’s making me feel bad.” Your Mum softly informs you.

“Oh,”

“But do you want a hug chook?” You nod eagerly, “Okay come here then,” Katie puts you down and you toddle over to your Mum, Caitlin then helps you up onto the couch and you climb onto your Mum’s chest, snuggling in as she wraps you in a hug. “I love you chook” she says, before kissing you on the top of your head.

acl’s | sam kerr x reader

this is me trying to work through my devastation but it’s 3am, i’m crying and writing this on my phone. :( it’s a blurb btw

you have to admit the timing of the call should be a little bit of a shock.

it doesn’t cross your mind when your girlfriends contact pops up on your phone, but in hindsight it probably should.

it’s not odd for sam to call you multiple times a day when she’s away on camp, if she has a spare minute here or there, so you are delighted when you see her face pop up on your screen.

you press the green button almost immediately, pulling your phone up to rest at your ear.

“Hiya chook, how’s the weather treating you?”

When you don’t get an immediate response you become a little bit worried, but nothing abnormal.

“Y/n? It’s Emma here.”

It’s when the voice of your fiancés coach hits your ears that you are immediately worried.

“Emma, what can I do for you?”

You’ve talked to Emma hundreds of times, but you can tell from her voice that this is different.

“Look, Sam’s just come off the pitch after a little incident, it’s looking like she’s done her ACL.”

Your gut wrenches, and it takes all of your power to stop your lunch from pouring out across the dining table your sat at.

“What?”

Your head immediately begins to reel, 9 months. That’s the Olympics, Emma’s last season at Chelsea, so many things that Sam has over this year that are now done.

Your mind goes back to Sam’s previous ACL injury, how she’d talked about how it had been the hardest thing mentally and physically for her, that it was almost the end of her career.

“It’s not looking good, we’ll have to wait until she’s had scans to confirm the severity but both her and our doctors are fairly certain it’s her cruciate ligament.”

You take a deep breath, fuck.

“Okay, okay. Is she okay?”

It’s a stupid question, of course she isn’t okay, she’s done her fucking acl, but your concern goes further than her obvious injury.

“She’s in a lot of pain, and she’s pretty torn up. Millie has been keeping her company but all she wants to do is talk to you.”

You nod your head, you know you shouldn’t have to prepare yourself to talk to her but you take your time to take a deep breath, keep yourself strong for her.

“Can you put her on for me please, Emma?”

You hear some bustling around.

“Of course, she wanted me to call you to get the facts straight, but i’ll put her on now.”

You hear a little bit more bustling before complete silence, and that seems to be your queue.

“Sammy, honey?”

You hear a deep, laboured breath crackling from the other side of the phone.

“I’m here.”

Her words are strung out, you know that Sam will be trying her hardest to keep it together, she simply isn’t one to be publicly over emotional, no matter the situation.

“Hi honey.”

You know the best thing right now is to leave her to talk about her injury, you leave ghe ball in her court.

“My whole year is over.”

You hear her voice break, and you know that she’s crying even though you can’t hear any sobs or evidence of tears.

“I’m right here chook, so are all the girls, whatever you need.”

When you hear a sob, it takes everything you have to not start crying with her.

“Need to see you, need you here.”

Sam’s not a needy person, so to hear her asking for something like this is concerning to you.

“How about I turn on facetime chook, will that make you feel a bit better?”

When you hear a little murmur of a ‘yes’ you click the button, waiting for it to connect once she accepts the request.

It’s a matter of seconds before you are met with the visual of Sam, her head resting on Millie's shoulder on a physio bed, tears cascading freely down her olive skin.

“Oh Sammy honey.”

She only begins to cry more, and you are fairly certain once this call ends you’ll be rushing straight to the bathroom to expel all of the bile that’s built up in your throat.

“I’m supposed to be captain, I need to be okay, I need to play the olympics, I couldn’t play the fucking world cup. This could be my last major tournament.”

You want to tell her that she’s being ridiculous, but it would achieve nothing, Sam needs to feel validated in her feelings right now, not like you and the whole world are against her.

“Sam this isn’t your fault, you couldn’t have avoided it, it was just a stupid freak accident, unfortunately it happens in the sport you play.”

Sam looks so broken, Millie’s matching her energy, the normally energetic blonde looking very sullen.

“What if this is it for me?”

You resist the urge to roll your eyes, it’s a stupid statement but a very real feeling that Sam has.

“Sam, how about I come to Morocco? I’ll catch the next flight out, and i’ll come and be there for you, is that something you want?”

You don’t want to step over her boundaries, but just the look on her face tells you that she needs to be comforted, she needs to cry and whilst her teammates are great, Sam is never going to be that vulnerable in front of them.

“You don’t have to.”

Her own statement contradicts every single feeling you can see inside her.

“I want to.”

Sam’s tears only begin to fall heavier.

“Please, I need you.”
