So.

This post is about food and eating, in case you want to just scroll on by.

I'm a plus sized woman, perimenopausal, and I'm trying to keep from becoming plus-er and also I need to keep an eye on blood numbers for health reasons.

Ergo, I decided to start tracking my macros (I've food-logged before but only in a general way).

For the uninitiated, macros are protein/fat/carbs and some people group fiber into it. Mostly I needed to monitor my protein and fiber intake to make sure I was getting enough. I'm not trying to do low carb or keto-whatever, nor am I really trying to cut a massive amount of calories - although if you food log in any way you sort of end up managing calories at the same time.

It's been like...ten days, and friendos? I'm borderline shocked at the effect this is having on me.

After only a few days of getting like 130 g of protein and 50 g of fiber daily, it's like...someone reached into my brain, found the dial labeled "food noise" and turned it waaaaaaay down. I don't know how else to describe that phenomenon other than "food noise" and I suspect a lot of you will know what I mean. It's that niggling urge to eat something, the munchies, the thoughts that dwell on food, the hovering constantly around it.

It's just...gone.

I eat what I eat, choosing things with high protein and fiber, and then I just don't think about it anymore. No more sitting at my computer with my brain dwelling on how much I want some pretzels, or toast, or whatever else it wants. It's just QUIET in there. It's almost eerie. I crave nothing. I'm not boredom eating.

Like today, at my workplace on Fridays we get a free patio lunch of grill items (or salad bar if you prefer). I got a bbq pulled beef sandwich. It came with two sides, I got pasta salad and a bag of pretzels.

I ate the sandwich and about half the pretzels and I was just...done. I didn't want more. I feel like in the past I'd have gone on and eaten the pretzels anyway (pretzels are one of my favorite things) but today it was just "nah, I'm good."

I threw the pasta salad right in the trash.

Thoughts on specifics for anyone who's interested:

Protein is kind of That Girl of the moment for healthy eating so it's real easy to find higher-protein food items. They're putting extra protein in freaking everything. You can get high protein CHEERIOS ffs (I don't recommend them). This is all fine but protein sources are plentiful among regular foods. Meat, dairy, beans, plant based proteins, are easy to eat and plentiful.

I'm a big fan of the Oikos Triple Zero yogurt. It is NOT a Greek yogurt but it has like 15 grams of protein per container and it's very tasty. I like to take a cup of the vanilla one, add some powdered peanut butter + cocoa (PB2 powder, available in most stores) with a splash of milk for stirring, and some chopped walnuts. Chia seeds are another good addition (let them plump in the fridge before eating).

If you're logging anything for any reason a kitchen scale is your best friend.

One of the best bits of nutritionist advice I ever got is "add, don't subtract." Don't think about cutting foods from your diet. Think about adding more foods that will benefit you. Don't cut carbs, add vegetables. Don't cut sugar, add fiber. By adding beneficial things, you will naturally have less capacity and desire for the things you'd like to eat less of. And it will not feel restrictive.

Do not take advice from any online nutrition or health coach on instagram who is selling something (with the possible exception of if they have a cookbook, especially if the same recipes are also on their social media). The online coaches LOVE to get engagement with posts about how grapes are bad, actually and you shouldn't feed kids bananas (two actual real life takes I've seen - because sure, Americans are unhealthy because we just eat too many darned grapes and bananas, sure, that's it).

Logan has begun to express reservations about the earlier hawkish stance of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), largely due to the recent surges in Treasury yields and term premiums. Her concerns emphasize the tug-of-war between the need for restrictive financial conditions to bring inflation down and the current strength of the labor market and overall economic output. Remarkably, Logan believes that the reasons for the tightening of financial conditions, especially those connected with the recent surges in Treasury yields and term premiums, might reduce the necessity to raise the fed funds rate. Commenting on this U-turn by the Fed’s Logan, Alexander argues, “This is the Bat-Signal I have been waiting for. What does it mean? Why is the Dallas Fed president in the top tweet doing a big baby U-turn? Because they are starting to realize they are losing control of the bond market!” Expanding on the nuances of the bond market, Alexander emphasized the distinction between the front and back ends of the curve. He stated, “The front of the curve, such as T-bills & 2-year bonds, are generally very responsive to rate guidance by the Fed… But the Fed never has as good control over the back end- especially 30-year bonds.” Alexander’s analysis points towards a decelerating demand for these long-term bonds, suggesting a potential loss of market control by the Federal Reserve. This evolving bond market scenario places the Federal Reserve in a precarious situation. Alexander, elaborating on this potential dilemma, posits, “What if they agree to stop raising rates or even initiate cuts, but bond buyers still don’t show up?” He further speculated on a possible shift – the endgame – in the Federal Reserve’s approach: “Placed between a rock and a hard place, the Fed might be pushed towards Yield Curve Control,” hinting at a reversion to Quantitative Easing (QE) policies. Drawing a parallel to the Japanese financial scenario, Alexander prophesied, “The USD could very well be the casualty of this policy direction, much like the Yen’s predicament in Japan.” He then connected these macroeconomic shifts to the digital asset space, forecasting, “Goodbye Quantitative Tightening, hello my old friend Mr. QE. The timeline is uncertain, but it is time to start paying attention to term premium, like the Dallas Fed!” Bitcoin And Crypto Could Profit Massively Ultimately, QE is something that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have benefited tremendously from in the last bull market.

Alexander therefore also predicts “yes your internet coins [aka Bitcoin and crypto] could then benefit”. Remarkably, this view is shared by several analysts. BitMEX founder Arthur Hayes recently expressed a similar view, according to which the Fed will sooner than later find itself in a bind to reintroduce QE. Hayes predicts a Bitcoin price of $750,000 in 2026. But this perspective isn’t universally accepted. Yuga.eth from Coinbase drew on Austan Goolsbee’s confidence in the FOMC’s commitment to tackling inflation. To this, Alexander sharply responded, “Nothing about increasing the debt is helping the inflation anyway. I’m lowkey scared of being judged for e@ting so much but I’m mega proud of my macros today!!! I’m trying to rㅌstr¡ct and workout this month based around my menstrual cycle bc supposedly that could “max out my results” for the month. This week I’m supposed to eat more protein and healthy fats. Idk I saw a tiktok about it and thought it was worth a try 🤷🏻‍♀️

This month I’m letting myself have days with higher c@l intake bc I’m coming off a really bad b¡nge streak and I don’t want to rebound. This way I’m hopefully satisfied but still in a deficit once I factor in exercise. Anyway I ate really healthy/balanced and tasty meals today, entirely by coincidence bc I didn’t plan jack shit beyond my c@lorie allowance lmao. Just a lucky day!

Also, by some miracle despite all the recent b¡ngeing,,, I still we¡ghed in at 170Ibs today thank GOD !!!! I really thought I g@ined back 10 for sure 😭 feeling super blessed today 🤪

The Gnostic Circle by Lori Tompkins

“The Gnostic Circle is the most effective method for understanding the transformation of human consciousness. It represents a vision of wholeness and has only one objective: it deals with the soul or seed of the divine in each created thing and reveals the process by which that seed is made to flower in its process of becoming.” – Thea

Thea first introduced this key or tool of Supramental Gnosis in her 1975 book, The Gnostic Circle – A Synthesis in the Harmonies of the Cosmos. This key offers the means by which an individual can center him or herself in Time, within the circumstances of both Individual and Collective evolution, and thereby develop an Integral and Supramental vision of the whole. The Gnostic Circle presents the unity-vision of the Vedic Rishis in which the division of the Earth’s 360° year into 12 months and our 0/9 number system/enneagram are seen to function simultaneously rather than as separate systems of measure and knowledge. With this simple vision of the oneness of the zodiac and enneagram, the Gnostic Circle invites viewers to consider how they can begin to outgrow the fragmented consciousness that is the foundation of our current civilisation. The image of the Gnostic Circle presents the supramental or solar consciousness by which all divisions of the circle and all divisions proper to the process of the creation of life, are eternally One.

Using this key, students can begin to restore in themselves and in the world, the eternal gnosis and unity consciousness that underlies many of the world’s ancient sacred texts. It functions in terms of the all-pervasive unity of creation and hence in terms of the self-similarity, self-symmetry and quantum entanglement of micro and macro cycles of time of which the Vedic Rishi were well aware. Thus the 24 hour day, the 360 degree year, the 25,920 year Precession of the Equinoxes and larger cycles of time, can be known and seen as ordered fields of the soul (individual and collective).

In The Synthesis of Yoga, Sri Aurobindo wrote:

‘Time is the remaining aid needed for the effectivity of the process. Time presents itself to human effort as an enemy or a friend, as a resistance, a medium or an instrument. But always it is really the instrument of the soul.’ (The Synthesis of Yoga, CWSA, Vol. 23-24, p. 68)‘The timeless Infinite holds in itself, in its eternal truth of being, beyond this manifestation, all that it manifests in Time. Its time consciousness too is itself infinite and maintains in itself at once in a vision of totalities and of particularities, of mobile succession or moment sight and of total stabilising vision or abiding whole sight what appears to us as the past of things, their present and their future.’ (Ibid, p. 885)

It is here [in the transition from mind to supermind] that a change begins to take place in the time-consciousness and time-knowledge which finds its base and complete reality and significance only on the supramental levels. (Ibid, p. 904)

The Gnostic Circle shows students the truth of Sri Aurobindo’s vision in that they can apply it as an aid or key which helps to shift consciousness (however gradually) from mental towards the supramental. Those who apply this key to their own lives and to world affairs begin to directly experience the supramental consciousness-force that coordinates the whole of our activity, ushering us towards the higher levels of manifestation and self-expression.

In very simple terms, the Gnostic Circle helps the user see and understand the evolutionary march or journey that we all share, regardless of however ignorant we are of this journey. As one learns to see the perfect order and harmony displayed in the smallest details of one’s existence, one begins to identify less with the ego and the mind, and more with the Supramental consciousness which has begun to emerge in our new day and age, just as the Mental consciousness once emerged from the Animal or Vital consciousness in our distant past.

How to Apply this Key of Gnosis

The application of this key for an individual is quite simple. The beginning or zero point of an individual’s life is birth, and from that zero point we journey in time and space. The Gnostic Circle can be used to map out and see the geometries and harmonies that emerge in 1 year cycles, 9 year cycles, 36 year cycles and 72 year cycles or, if one wishes to study larger collective evolutionary movements on our planet, the framework will be larger, such as 2,160 year astrological ages, the 25,920 year Precessional cycle and even vaster cycles of time. Usage of the Gnostic Circle is not limited to the birth of individuals. It can be used to understand the birth or emergence of anything … a country, a pivotal event, a discovery, a new endeavor, etc.

The birth date of the object of one’s study is placed at the zero point at the top of the circle and then, depending on what cycle of time one chooses to explore, we begin to map out pivotal dates according to the major divisions of the circle, identifying the dates associated with the cardinal points, the trinity, and the 12 months.

If looking at the Gnostic Circle in terms of the one year cycle, the outer circle (blue ring) is divided into 360° or segments and each degree represents a day. The last five days of the year are considered ‘out of the calendar’. The Zodiac or division of the year by 12 is seen in the midsection of the circle and each 30° segment is a month. The orange ring contains 36 segments of 10° each and these are decanates of the 12 signs of the zodiac. In the one year journey/cycle, each day we progress 1° of the circle (which in turn is a microcosm of the whole year as well as larger cycles of time, and of ALL TIME). Each 10 days we progress 10° or a decanate of one astrological sign. Each 30 days we progress one month or one astrological sign. Each 40 days we progress 1/9th of the year (corresponding to the 9 integers of the circle), each 90 days we progress a quarter of the year (i.e. a ’season’), and each 120 days we progress a third of the year.

It proves useful to map out and note the major geometries of one’s year, i.e. the dates associated with the cardinal points, the triangular points, the 12 months and the 9 integers. Using this map of one’s year, one can begin to see interesting patterns that arise concerning important events and people in one’s life which point towards a Supramental organisation of life rather than a senseless, random and chaotic creation.

The 9 year cycle tracks enneads of time. When applying this time frame to the Gnostic Circle, each degree is 9 days, each decanate is 90 days, each ‘month’ or sign is 9 months, each season or quarter of the circle is 2.25 years, and each corner of the triangle is 3 years.

In the 36 year cycle, each ennead is one season or quarter of the circle and corresponds sequentially to the phases of evolution on Earth: Physical, Vital(Animal), Mental, and Spiritual. In this cycle, each 12 years marks out the central triangle.

In order to fully understand how to navigate, apply and understand this key of Supramental Gnosis, it is necessary to read The Gnostic Circle and The Magical Carousel. These books are essential reading for those wishing to truly grasp the importance of time and its real measures by which we exist, grow and evolve. They will help students of Gnosis to realise that not only are we simultaneously Matter and Spirit, but that we are also Time as well as Timeless. For too long have we forgotten Time as an extension of our own being. The Vedic Rishis sung of the yoga or yajna by which one comes back to this realisation and hence to the portals of the unity consciousness which eludes our current mental-egoic consciousness, and the body and path of this yoga/yajna was the 360°, 12 month year. The Gnostic Circle if used correctly will reveal the eternal wisdom of the Rishis to be indeed eternal. This can be directly validated in one’s own experience and life laboratory. As individuals orient and centre themselves within their own personal Time on Earth and within ALL Time, they begin to shift from the mental towards the supramental consciousness and from the egoic to the universal self. One begins to shift from faith in a higher order and power of creation, to the direct experience of that higher order and power of creation.

so i was excited for my mom bringing food because she got one of my comfort foods and as much as i would like to fast i start feeling sick even when im normal-hungry in the time between meals so.

Macros, Day 12

I won't be posting every day about this but I would like to use this space for some personal journaling about it. I will be tagging everything with "macros" and "lori's macros" if you'd like to block the tag.

All is well in Macro Land. My seven-day average is 142 g protein, 136 g net carbs, 68 g of fat and 1853 calories. That's a tad low on protein and a tad high in fat and carbs. I'm still tweaking, and it's hard, but I'm not sweating those variances.

I am still feeling steady and peaceful, except in my bank balance. Man it gets expensive eating like this. Also the downside to doing a lot of food prep and at-home eating is you clean the kitchen 8345 times a week.

Food win of the week: last night I made this recipe (https://thenaturalnurturer.com/creamy-edamame-chicken-salad/) and it was amazing (link below) if a tad dry - next time I will increase the dressing. Also it said it made 6 servings but this is 8 easily for how I'm using it (mostly in wrap sandwiches).

I also made a wrap with a low carb tortilla, a macro-friendly chicken tender in the air fryer (RealGood Foods makes lightly breaded nuggets and tenders that are awesome), a little red beans and rice and a drizzle of ranch and it slapped.

Food fail of the week: Tried a recipe for McGriddle muffins. Basically a mixture of Kodiak high protein pancake mix, crumbled breakfast sausage, cheese, syrup and milk. I didn't add as much syrup as it said to and they turned out pretty dry (also think I overbaked them). Kinda not great. I might try them again at some point, if only to use up the pancake mix (I don't really like pancakes).

Another win: apparently Costco has 18 packs of the Oikos triple zero protein yogurt which is my fave. Going tomorrow.

I did have my app set to let me track water but have decided to stop doing that. There's some thinking that the obsession with a lot of hydration is a bit overblown (gosh, something in the health-and-nutrition field being overblown? shocking) and you don't need to pound 150 oz of water a day, just drink when you're thirsty, so I'm trying to just do that.

Today I am heading out to a local farm market in search of more veg and maybe some nut butter.

I ate the damn Army and I'm going to crush the shit out of you." She pressed her fingers down in individual points on the land, a city in the center where her palm was primed to go as her growth caused slowly increasing gashes to form, the trenches miles deep into the crust of the earth getting further and further away, dozens of cities partially or completely crushed as the example city could do nothing but wait for the hand to drop. "Maybe you should beg and pray to me since I'm basically your goddess now." She said, letting out a show-offy laugh as her palm slammed down, no grinding or sweeping necessary to know how utterly destroyed the country was getting. Her ass hanging in the air and her knees and chest supporting her meant that she was taking up a relatively small amount of space- yet even then her paws were starting to get wet with ocean water, thighs each in different seas as she she sat up once more. The thought occurred to her to sit properly, to grow and grow until the earth went from a boulder she sat on to a seat her legs and hips could easily crush. But that would destroy too much of it, and too quickly. For what she wanted to do, she'd have to have the smallest bit of restraint…

The Earth basked in her shadow completely, the sun illuminating her face and body more and more as the world was only as big as her torso, gravity starting to pull it towards her. As her hands reached out, big enough to cover the largest continents, and she dug her fingers into the mantle and crust, she sloooowly brought it forward, smirking at the world held in her grasp so easily. The world stood still at her speech, watching as her slow, evil laugh continued on, her maw opening more and more as the planet was stuck looking up at their soon to be destroyer. The moon itself- a celestial body Pokemon have been looking up to for millennia, began to drift towards her mouth, which caused a smile to creep up the corners of her muzzle. "You'll just be the first of many because as I continue to ascend, I'm going to find more planets. More Civilizations." Her tongue, as the moon came past her fangs, lifted up to grab it, like a predator lying in wait for its prey. The dusty, nearly untouched stone was quickly coated in her saliva before it was moved to the back of her throat, her supreme growth bringing it down to the size of a gumball. And as she swallowed, her tongue coming up to block it from view, the apocalyptic sound of it crushed and crumbling into a mass of magma and stone in her throat, she finally closed her mouth, her tongue coming out for a taunting lick of her snout. "You won't be remembered," She spoke, the world small enough that her fingers pressed down on one half, and her thumbs on the opposite. "but others will join you soon enough, bugs."

A true macro shot depends on the level of magnification is at 1:1, where a 1-inch object is also projected 1-inch on the camera sensor. When projected at half-size, the same 1-inch object would be at 1:2 magnification. TRUE MACRO: is anything that has been magnified at a ratio of 1:1 or higher.

This is a photo of Lorie’s eye using a macro lens, I couldn’t believe the detail in this photo. Also considering the lens has a small depth of field, I wouldn't have been as happy with this image if the eye-lashes were in focus and not the iris. What makes this image pop is the very defined texture of the bottom lashes, the pattern of the iris as you can see the smallest tiny detail weaving through the eye, contrasting next to complete darkness of the pupil. The colour is a working point, i’m planning on bringing out the colour in the iris to make the green brighter and more vibrant.

I’m much happier with this edit than the original, the dehaze filter really maximized the tiny details in the eye and the lashes , I also like how lowering the highlights made the reflection of the top lashes id the white part of the eyeball.
