Can you imagine if they made a lost boys sequel in the 90s? 90s Corey and Jamison? I couldn't handle it. I couldn't take it. It'd be too much.
In conclusion: they didn't make a sequel in the early/mid 90s because Edgar and Alan would be too hot and audiences wouldn't make it through the film.

This scene. I love this so much too. Alan has basically done the impossible. He’s gone five whole years as a half vampire. Even drinking animal blood to take the edge off, that’s gotta be incredibly impressive.
Edgar’s gotta respect that at least a little bit, right? You can tell how much he doesn’t want to be there though. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for him to see his brother like that. I don’t think he goes there very often.
Edgar still very much lives in a world where ‘ The Frog brothers’ are still a thing though. He calls his business Frog Brothers despite the fact that Alan’s probably never even been near a surf board. He even has it as the licence plate on his car.
But when he says it to Alan, Alan reminds him that they haven’t been the frog brothers in a long time. That’s gotta hurt. And I feel like it’s partially Edgar’s fault. They don’t talk much anymore. Hell, Edgar hadn’t even told him about Sam until this scene.
And then when Alan turns on the vamp-face. Up until that point if you’re watching it for the first time you might think that maybe Alan’s cured of vampirism. I mean if so he made some odd life choices, but here he shows his other face and you see that he is still a half vampire.
Imagine being able to turn that on to end an argument with your brother though. I get why he doesn’t want to team up with Edgar to go after the head vamp. It’s not because he wants to stay like that. He probably spent years trying to find her head vampire only to be disappointed over and over again. Now he’s finally found some kind of peace, and here comes Edgar determined to give him false hope again…
I maybe reading too much into this, but this is why fanfic I guess…

Sometimes it really pays to have unconditional love for campy and even straight up trash vampire media. You would never know that Charisma Carpenter hosted a special called The Art of Seduction: Vampire Lore, (which is about the inherent sexual nature of the vampire mythos), UNLESS you owned the crappy straight to DVD 3rd Lost Boys movie.

just listened to the lost boys novelization and some of my highlights include: sam biting michael being the reason theyre running around the house, sam quoting bruce when they get to the boardwalk because hes overdressed ("i wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face"), high michael staring at dwayne skateboarding and wondering when marko would come with the food (real), david making a move on michael to be inturrupted by marko with the food, sam tearing off a leaf of grandpas marijuana and trying to smoke it, star saying the boys are her family multiple times, star biting michaels neck when theyre making out multiple times, david catching michael after he falls off the bridge, paul trying to cheer up star, and michael saying david looks like the lord of the vampires when he first sees him in the final battle

Oh my God, if I had the mental capacity for it right now, I would make a whole Powerpoint presentation titled "Kalim Al-Asim and How his Unique Magic Could Make or Break the World: a Thesis on Underestimated Power" because JESUS CHRIST THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS

I love that Alan is still looking after Edgar. Not just by giving him a vampire hunting book that happened to contain exactly the info that Edgar needed, but also that p.s. in his letter. (His blood-stained letter…)
P.S. if you’re still alive on Tuesday, be sure to call mom. It’s her birthday.
This is where I get the idea that Alan is the research guy of the team. Edgar is the muscle, Alan the brain, and Sam was the heart. Alan is looking out for Edgar, probably doing all the research he needed to and then going out in the middle of the day when he’s a half vampire and that’s going to be pretty difficult for him, to leave an ancient vampire hunting tome in his brother’s car, so that he can help while simultaneously pretending that he isn’t helping. That’s half vampire Alan all over. He can’t not be involved. That’s why I’m sure he gets right back into hunting with Edgar when he regains his humanity.
The thing about calling their mom shows that he is still more in touch with the rest of humanity that Edgar despite no longer being a part of it. That’s pretty telling, actually.

Chris, to Edgar: I thought you said your childhood was “satisfactory”?
Zoe: You misheard him, he said it was a “sadness factory”.
