Back in the 90s I wrote a parody song for Interview with The Vampire to the tune of the theme song for Pinky and the Brain from Animaniacs.
And every so often the beginning just pops into my head. (I forgot most of the words I made up.)
"They're Louis and Lestat. Yes, Louis and Lestat. One is a Creole. The other's a brat."

I think the reason we have multiple examples of tragic "forever girls" (Claudia, Esther, Baby Doll) but not so many "forever boys" is tied in to the same reason we still get that stupid "I cannot have children therefore I'm a MONSTER" trope written into things. It's because getting married and having children are considered the main goals of femininity, so it's a Tragedy if someone can't complete them. Those are the main two things you lose if you're stuck in a child's body so they're really played up, and that becomes your source of interest and angst with those characters. Apparently it's not interesting to focus on the respect someone may never get, or overbearing sheltering, and of course nobody wants to see a boy sad about never having romance or children.

Did Kate Atkinson have to name the character Louise? Seriously? There are so many other names for middle-aged northern British women, and she had to give her on that has one letter difference from the point of view character in the other fic I’m writing. God, Kate.  Thanks a lot!

I know I'm not going to write it but I've always loved the idea of gender-swapping show!Louis and Lestat. Taking away one more layer of protection off Louis: being a man of the house. In my head 'Louise de Pointe du Lac' is a mix of Lulu White, a real-life Storyville madam (pictured here, allegedly) and Scarlett O'hara.
Besides, in the S1 setting, the way I can see Loustat maybe getting a happily ever after is if Lestat has some semblance of empathy. And one way of achieving that is if Lestat (Lestelle in this iteration ;P) was born a woman. Society and her family would have drilled feminine qualities such as empathy, patience, and agreeableness into her from a young age, as much as she rebelled against it. At least some of these lessons would have stuck. Putting some snippets I've jotted down under the cut.
She married quickly and without fanfare. So quickly that she didn't have time to shed her maiden name before the husband was in the ground. It was done, though. Louise de Pointe du Lac now had three boarding houses to her name, and the means to run them.
Men who sought out every pleasure under the sun in her houses would pretend not to know her when she crossed them in the streets.
Her family had stopped talking to her, except Grace, who'd occasionally call on her modest townhouse before Louise drove down to the District at dusk. She was married now, her baby sister, to a respectable young man no less. Paul, gone. Mamaw, enduing the indignity of her eldest being a madam.
'I've always wanted to be Lestat.' Lestelle confessed to her in a whisper. 'I chopped off my hair and ran away with a band of gypsies before I turned seventeen. God I was so happy.'
Do you think I'll let them gut my Azalea and put her on the auction block? No. I'd see her burn first. So Ms de Pointe du Lac walked away, armed with a full box of matches save the one that had been tossed unto the flame, and a shard of glass she broke off the famed mirrored walls.
Lestelle took her frigid hand. 'Do you want revenge?' Louise closed her eyes. Yes. Yes of course. The things she wanted, no respectable Christian woman should even let form in her head.

Get to know me!
Thanks for the tag @bhxrdy
Nickname: Pee Wee, from my grandfather. A joke because my mom gained like 80 pounds when she was pregnant with me lol
Sign: Libra
Height: 5'5
The last thing I googled: how to make overnight oats
Amount of sleep: During the week, I try to get at least 7 since I am waking up so early to go to work. Weekends.... well... what is sleep? lol I can function on as little as 5 hours, but not for more than 2 days in a row
Dream job: *sigh* Writer. Like published and all that. Or teaching history at university.
Favorite song: Here I Go Again by Whitesnake
Movie/Book that Summarises Me: Just one book?... oh fuck... ah...I grew up reading a lot of R.L. Stine Goosebumps and Fear Street books. And then I moved on to Anne Rice, Stephen King, etc. So, there are a lot of books that shaped me but now as an adult... I think the character Louise Du Pointe de Lac is the most me... I just wanna live in my cottage with my piles of books and watch life pass me by lol
Favorite instrument: guitar. I am truly a sucker for anyone who can play that instrument because I cannot lol
Aesthetic: Comfortable. Probably leaning towards hipster. Lots of leggings, jeans, oversized sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts etc. I would love a dark academia look but... I don't know if I could pull it off.
Favorite authors: Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Iris Johansen.
Random fun fact: I have an Honours Degree in History along with a BA in Classics with a minor in English. I have yet to work in a field where I have used either. I have also had several short stories published in a couple books that a writing contest I entered a few years in a row did.
I tag: Anyone who wants to do this
