omfgggg. honey, i would be delighted to gush all about the ridiculous menace that is Rouxls Kaard 🫠🫠🫠🫠

so, who is this fine piece of glass/goop/diamond/darkness/we're not quite sure? why, it's Rouxls Kaard (pronounced 'rules card'), AKA the Duke of Puzzles! 😉 Rouxls serves as a minor antagonist in Chapter 1 of Deltarune (and a beautiful nuisance in Chapter 2 😂). in the game you play as a human teenager named Kris Dreemurr who (along with their bully-turned pal Susie) falls into a 'Dark World' in their school supply closet. this Dark World is full of 'Darkners': eccentric beings who guard huge power sources called Dark Fountains. Rouxls is one of these Darkners, and he serves the King of Card Castle. he's this...bizarre, hilarious, canonically 'hunky' freak who forces you to do very easy puzzles, and he talks exclusively in terrible, fucked-up Early Modern English, or Shakespearean English. beholdeth:

Rouxls is...oh my god, he's so fucking funny dude. he's obsessed with puzzles, but he's absolutely dreadful at them, and he gets so furious when you easily solve his work 🙈 he thinks he's the smartest and most handsome man in the Dark World (and to be fair, he does have a lot of admirers), but my god he's a moron 😂 despite his lofty claims, he is deeply unloyal, and easily switches sides claiming that he was always on the right one!! however, he has a soft spot for Lancer, the King's son, who has claimed Rouxls as his 'Lesser Dad' 😭😭 god, i can't tell you what 2018 Deltarune fandom was like on here when we met this guy. we were ill about him. i didn't think about any other character for a whole year, swear to god 😂 not only is Rouxls deranged and gorgeous, he's a pathetic cringefail boydad!!! 🥺🥺 and he may or may not be much more powerful than he appears if certain theories are to be believed 👀 for a treat, please enjoy this fabulous animation by @sweebread, with vocals provided by @manontheinternet, one of my favourites 🙈💖 a bunch of talented people came together to make Deltarune: the (not) Musical, by crafting fabulous songs over the banging Deltarune soundtrack. the backing track here is Hip Shop, which plays when you visit Rouxls' shop!! if you're even a little bit interested in him, i bet this will tip you over 😉

this is stolen from i think one or two of hachibun’s drawings but he covers with his wings i know this

↳ also i think this is a conscious thing he does; without any input from him, his wings would splay out w the snz (so if it catches him off guard he wont be able to cover that way)

stifles, but he can never get them to be silent - you always hear a little “tch!” or something … ❤️

↳ unstifled snzs are decently forceful but not loud, and pretty breathy-sounding

doubles every time, without fail

↳ the second snz of the two is sometimes prone to getting a little stuck.. takes a second to come out so hes put in like. hitching purgatory for a bit

↳ the only thing that breaks the doubles rule is dust! allergy! this is canon to ME! sets him off in seemingly neverending fits that he will stifle into oblivion until he physically cant anymore and is forced to let them out

hitches/buildups are very. fluttery? (really trying not to say feathery here that is such a bad pun) they have this light airy quality that somehow makes them sound even more desperate

doesnt get sick super often but when he does he absolutely hates it - he hates feeling like he’s out of control of himself in that way, and he hates having a problem like a cold that has no solution other than wait it out

↳ will shut himself off when sick, also because he isnt a fan of dealing with other people when he feels like hell

re: "good girl" i think they say it once randomly as a joke and its just one of those things that gets him wayyy more than they expected it would. so now its their secret weapon and they use it very sparingly and every single time he gets super embarrassed about it but it works ill tell you what.
