You glance up and take a moment to try and remember. "No, I don't think so. Why?"

Devlin's teeth worry at his lower lip for a moment. "I get worried he's getting up to something he shouldn't when he's quiet for too long. 'Albus' and 'quiet' don't often cohabitate."

You can't help but smile. "I'll go check on him."

Devlin nods. "Thank you, sister."

You stand from your place on the bridge and descend into the deeper parts of the ship—toward the crew cabins.

Your boots—simple temple attendant boots not made for an epic adventure like this, but you're making do—make very little sound on the metal floor with their soft soles. Compared to Albus' combat boots and Devlin's forgemaster work boots.

From inside Albus' cabin, you hear him swearing.

You knock on the metal door. "Albus?" you call carefully.

He swears again. Just once, but loud and crisp instead of a string of muttering.

The door opens. "How the hell do you do that?" he demands.

His forehead and neck are gleaming with sweat. The neckline of his shirt is dark with it too.

You don't let yourself stare. In fact, you try your hardest not to process those bits at all. "Do what?" you ask.

"Always turn up when I'm in the middle of something as if you think I'm about to ask for help."

You can't help but scoff. "You? Ask for help? That's a good one."

In order to keep your attention away from the way that U-shaped divet between his collarbones deepens and shallows with his heavy breathing, you glance over his shoulder.

"What have you done to your cabin?" you ask incredulously.

Albus twists, as if he has no idea what you're talking about.

"Decorated," he says with that flat sarcasm you've come to be quite familiar with.

You blink, not entirely sure how to respond.

His cabin looks like a strange amalgamation of a physical workout obstacle course and the blandest soldier barrack you've ever seen. Your own cabin is fairly bareboned—Devlin hadn't quite finished all the finer details of this ship before you and Albus commandeered it—but nothing like this.

"How did you get those things to hang off the ceiling without falling?"

"What, the pull-up bar?"

"Sure?"

He shrugs. "Talent."

You sigh and roll your eyes. "Whatever. I just came to make sure you weren't getting into trouble."

"Me? Trouble? I don't know what you're talking about."

You scoff again. "The hell you don't," you mutter, turning on your heel.

Albus barks a laugh as you stalk off. "Language, faithful!"

You throw an obscene gesture over your shoulder at him as you leave, his bellowing laughter following you down the echoing corridors of the ship.

Back on the bridge, Devlin flinches at the thunderous expression on your face. "Is everything alright, sister?"

"Albus is Albus," you grumble back. "But not making trouble."

"Ah. The conversation went well, then."

Devlin and Albus are definitely brothers, you think. They share the same dry sarcasm.

I know I've said it so many times now and that my gratitude has probably lost its novelty but I don't know what else to say but thank you ... well besides I love u very very much. I didn't expect to get a blanket AND goodies AND a note WITH A MUSHROOM ON IT ITS SOOO CUTE ITS THE FIRST THING I SAW AND IT ABSOLUTELY MELTED MY HEART GIRL. and then I saw the mango nectar and almost cried (again) I didn't even know mango nectar was like. a thing you could buy. it's in my fridge rn chilling for later after dinner. it was so sweet of you to add some extra for vro btw he didn't believe it until I showed him ur letter he also says thank you and that he would sacrifice a newborn for u. BUT. I do have a question actually because I've never had something like this I wanted to ask is there any specific way i should take care of the blanket. obviously I'm going to be very careful with it but I wanted to know do I have to like. hand wash it or like. hang dry it or what. I can't stress this enough if this thing comes unraveled by my hand I'm going to become a hermit .

also you can hand wash or machine wash it if you want! if you hand wash it, fill a container with lukewarm water and add gentle soap to it. let it soak and gently swish it around for about 15 minutes. afterwards, gently squeeze it to remove excess water once you remove it, dump out the lukewarm soapy water, then refill it with more lukewarm water (😭), and put it back in and swish it around for another 15 minutes this time to remove on the soap.

if you wanna machine wash it, use a delicate/gentle cycle with a low spin speed and cool water. also! make sure to use a mild or gentle detergent! when you go to dry it, the best way is it to lay it flat on a towel and then gently press out the excess water by rolling it up in a towel, then lay it on a plastic bag or a different towel. if you wanna machine dry it, go for low heat 💥
