THE. THE WAY YOU WROTE ELIANA’S REUNION WITH GROVYLE AND CELEBI. THE WAY YOU USE WORDS TO ENHANCE CERTAIN EMOTIONS MADE MY HEART TWINGE A LITTLE. AND OH MY GOD. THE WAY YOU WROTE DUSKNOIR’S ENTRY. AND HOW ELIANA TOOK NO CHANCES AND IMMEDIATELY ATTACKED HIM???? NOT TO MENTION MOMENTS OF HER REMEMBERING JUST HOW TERRIFYING HE WAS WHEN SHE WAS A SMALL EEVEE. AND HAVING TO BE CALMED DOWN????? I-
Ranting about that ghostly old man under the cut:🫡
She was already so overprotective of Grovyle in the future since they met when he was a Treecko and so terrified of everything being so small…then once she recalls her memories and realizes that Grovyle had to take that place for her after she lost her memory, protected her with his life once they discovered the truth, she grieves over losing him all over again…now she has him back, with Lu, safe and sound and she has abilities now to protect them both so much better and…yeah. She snapped.
That was pure instinct stemming from the harrowing experience of being hunted down plus his betrayal, almost being killed multiple times, being convinced that he would no longer be in the picture (perhaps also having blocked out the idea that he might still be around bc she couldn’t handle the thought of seeing him again after all that trauma) after the future was restored…Eliana is not having a great time because after Dusknoir already took advantage of her amnesia and broke her trust the first time, so even Grovyle is going to have a hard time convincing her that Dusknoir has sincerely changed for the better and for good😭
Going from a barely one-foot fox who fits in the palm of his hand, completely trusting and admiring and looking up to him, to him killing her for seemingly no reason…you always touch on those tones in your composition so well I wanted to try to emulate that a little🥺👉🏻👈🏻
Also I’m glad they the reunion expressed how important and intimate I wanted it to sound—with Grovyle in particular. He means so much to her and vice versa and just…they’re so happy that the other is okay and I wanted that to come across so badly🥹
I wanted her to see him entering the room in kind of slow motion, but I’m uncertain I expressed clearly—just this dawning, horrific realization, the embodiment of all her fears, sneaking (in her point of view) into a room filled with the people she cared about most, with their backs exposed to him…nope, she’s not having that. He’s such a big, foreboding figure that I wanted that eeriness to come through
And Lu and Grovyle are her rocks from two different points in her life—they keep her steady, they keep her calm, and them working together to soothe her anxiety and fight/flight instinct was something I wanted to touch on. You know. For funsies :)
I didn’t mean to leave dusknoir out without any dialogue but I’ll get to him in no time, believe me😈

This is something I wrote a while ago and was previously posted in a private server. The gist of it is if Player was basically a Lucario. That's it. That's the story. It's also written in the second person because my brain said to.
_______
In Which You Have Four Different Panic Attacks For The Same Reason
A search and maybe rescue mission, that's all this was. If only you knew how much more difficult it would be.
Four had headed into a dungeon alone some time ago, since it was his Hyrule and it would be best if he went in to check it out. You weren't sure why Time agreed to let him go on his own, but you supposed you shouldn't be too worried. As small as he was, he packed quite the punch.
But he had been gone for over six hours, dungeons took maybe two at most depending at what pace you set yourself at. But even then, it shouldn't take this long. So you were tasked to go look for him along with Wild.
You see, though your time with the Chain was short, you've proven yourself to be invaluable with your innate ability to track down any person or object. The Chain wasn't quite sure how you accomplished such a thing, but if they were to ask you where something or someone was, you'd almost be guaranteed to find it faster than any of them. You were a living compass, a pathfinder, the guiding North star. It definitely influenced the nickname they gave you, which was Compass.
They weren't wrong, but if only they knew how you truly achieved such a skill. Aura wasn't a power known to this world. It existed, yes, but the populace wasn't aware of the power it held and the concept that it could be used. It's a secret that you would rather keep to yourself, for the greed of men has killed many for power like this. Though perhaps you would one day tell it to your new friends. You knew they were good people at heart, despite what some might tell you.
Their auras were so unique, so distinct that it was no wonder that you were able to keep track of them so easily. Hell, you even managed to track down Wind who found himself on the other side of the Hebra Mountains. It was a good thing you did too, or else the poor boy would have likely froze to death. Time gave him a good scolding for it that day.
So that's why you were here. They figured if anyone could find Four, it would be you. You wouldn't lie, you were touched at how much faith they put in you for this. Though they were good natured, the world hadn't been as kind. It taught them not many could be trusted as that trust they gave had only hurt them in the end. So you swore you would do everything in your power to make their jobs and lives a little bit easier in whatever way you can.
You stepped into the dungeon, torch in hand and raised it high to give you some semblance of what you were looking at. Well, you could see fine, the torchlight was more for Wild, not that he knew that. Or anyone, for that matter.
The room was large, and the remnants of monsters hung in the air. Four had definitely been here, you could feel the lingering trails he left behind. You were wandering in, signaling Wild to follow. He nodded and trailed close, keeping watch for any leftover monsters or traps Four might have avoided or missed.
But then you stopped, staring blankly into space with your mouth slightly ajar.
You… you were feeling that, right?
You weren't crazy?
Because you swear that you could sense Four… in four different places.
Have you finally lost it? After all the adventure and becoming the fabled Guardian of Aura, is this really where you were going to dive off the deep end?
"-mpass. Compass! Hey!"
You snapped back into reality, blinking rapidly before locking eyes with Wild. He seemed worried, looking over you for any other problems.
"You zoned out worse than I do. Are you okay? Do we need to go back?" Wild had asked, glancing over you worriedly.
You shook your head. "No, it's just… I don't know how to put it into words."
Wild seemed to look in understanding. "Don't try too hard, it won't do you any good."
You nudge his arm with your elbow as a friendly gesture, smiling awkwardly. "Thanks, I appreciate the concern, but um… there is something wrong."
"What is it?"
"I don't know where he is."
Wild blinked. You didn't know where Four was? And you were quick to add.
"I mean, I know he's in here, I can feel it in my gut. But I can't tell where, my mind just gets fuzzy and it feels like I have a-" you groan and raise up your hands to rub your temples, "-headache."
Oh, great, you have a headache. That's definitely helping you and Wild right now. You groaned and buried your face in your hands, shaking your head.
"I'm sorry, I'm not being helpful," you said, looking over apologetically. "I don't know what's wrong…"
Wild shakes his head, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "Don't be sorry, it might be the dungeon messing with you. I've seen it happen with the others sometimes."
You nodded and kept trekking on, determined to find Four despite the initial problems, so to speak. Wild didn't argue or protest, and simply stuck close to you as you walked the path deeper in. There weren't many traps, or monsters, it was a quiet journey to the end.
You perked up when you felt someone approach, turning to see the multi-colored tunic of a certain blacksmith. Sighing in relief, you and Wild jogged over to him, calling his name as he turned his attention toward the two of you.
"Wild? Compass? What are you two doing here?" Four had asked.
"You were gone for longer than expected, we got worried and came to look for you," you explained, nodding at him.
Wild hummed in agreement. "We got concerned when we entered and Compass couldn't seem to pick up on where you were."
Four's eyes widened a bit at that, looking over at you, who was rubbing your neck sheepishly. "Really? You couldn't find me?"
"It was really weird, I couldn't tell where you were," you admitted, "It's almost like… you were in multiple places at once? Oh, that sounds dumb, doesn't it?"
Unbeknownst to you, Four had paled just the slightest amount at the phrase, his eyes shifting through a specific set of colors before fading back to a soft honey brown. Though he was quick to shake it off at a moment's notice to avoid suspicion.
"That's odd, are you sure you're okay?" He asked, gingerly moving his hand up to adjust the green band on his forehead.
"I think I would be better if we left this dungeon. I'd like for this headache to not become a migraine," you answered, rolling the joints in your shoulders and neck. "I'm also guessing you made it to the end of the dungeon? Did you find anything worth your while?"
Four shrugged. "Just some rupees and an item or two. Nothing great but still useful."
Wild seemed content sitting back and letting you and Four speak, since he had other things on his mind. But decided to speak out, "We should head back, before the old man sends someone after us next."
You and Four nodded, motioning to head out of the dungeon from whence you came. Leaving you to think about what exactly happened, and you weren't going to let it go for a while.
Perhaps you could ask Wolfie for cuddles to get your mind off of it.

Eliana found the entire idea incredibly difficult to believe.
“Grovyle…” she began incredulously, “…you’re openly admitting that Dusknoir deceived you when you brought him back to the future..even if he, supposedly, had a sincere change of heart at the last second, after trying to murder you—to steal and possess your body in order to trick us again, no less…you still trust him?”
“He helped Celebi and I to stop Primal Dialga from destroying the Passage of Time on top of Vast Ice Mountain, which would have destabilized the paralyzed future all over again and would have completely undone your work in restoring Temporal Tower with the Time Gears,” Grovyle confirmed. “I don’t claim to truly know what ultimately caused him to change his mind, as he’s yet to share that information with me, but he rescued me and was almost killed as a result for revolting against Primal Dialga. Although grievously wounded, he battled with us to the very end, and he disappeared alongside us until we were restored.”
Eliana frowned at him, chewing on the inside of her cheek. Grovyle was being truthful, of that she hadn’t even the foggiest of doubts—he was virtually incapable of lying to her. Mental manipulation was out of the question, because Lu would have long since solved any issues with that since he was able to read Pokémon’s auras…her eyes narrowed as she looked at him. “And you’re vouching for him, too?”
“He hasn’t had a malicious thought since he’s lived here with Grovyle and Celebi,” Lu confirmed, sharing a brief glance with the wood gecko Pokémon. “Believe me, Eliana, I was just as suspicious and as skeptical as you are. It took a long time for Grovyle and Celebi to talk me down from chasing him right on out of Treasure Town. It took even longer for Dusknoir to rebuild my trust and faith in him, and longer still for me to even allow him to make reparations for what he’d done, but…we’ve made peace, and I’ve forgiven him.”
Eliana scowled. “Even though he’s tried to kill all of us on multiple occasions to save his own skin.”
“You recall how he treated us when he first arrived to Treasure Town?” Lu pressed, brow rising. “With kindness and generosity and compassion? How he rescued us expecting nothing in return? All the time he spent teaching us and allowing us to pester him?”
The painful memories that surfaced in the back of her mind caused Eliana’s throat to tighten—she remembered all too clearly her untainted and wholehearted conviction that Dusknoir had truly been great, and more than worthy of the title. She swallowed and cleared her throat, shaking the frissons from her pelt. “While he was leading us on so we wouldn’t expect him to drag us to execution posts?”
“That was before he realized who you really were, Eliana.” Lu tilted his head forward to peer deeply into her eyes. “Every second of that devotion was real. He sincerely cared about us. He had—and still has—a good heart. His fear drove him to do terrible things, yes—he’ll be the first to admit how much of a coward he was, and will just as quickly assume that responsibility as well as the guilt that overwhelms him in retrospect—but, for what it’s worth, that true side of him has emerged, and he’s a completely different Pokémon now.”
Lu was also a terrible liar—it had been a dead giveaway, the very few times he’d ever tried to fib to her, when he’d fail to meet her eyes as he spoke in a demure and shaky voice. Now he met her gaze head-on, completely assured of what he said. (Eliana almost wanted to pinch herself just to make sure she wasn’t trapped in another illusory nightmare.)
“You can’t honestly expect me to just drop everything and let bygones be bygones after he spent so long being the most rotten Pokémon alive,” she told them flatly. “There’s no telling everything he did under Primal Dialga’s orders.”
“Eliana,” Grovyle said gently, “we understand. I couldn’t sleep in the same room as him for months. Even now I’ll wake and startle when I see him, strictly on instinct. He knows, and he’s doing his best to make amends—almost to a fault, in my opinion. I can’t tell you all the good he’s done since we’ve returned to the mainland. We can’t walk through Treasure Town without running into someone he’s helped personally who wants to stop and thank him.”
“You don’t think he’s playing the long game this time?” she growled. “Waiting for all of you to truly relax so he can come in and betray you all over again with the lowest chances of failure? Why wouldn’t he want to finish the job?”
“No one can ever know things like that for certain,” Lu acknowledged, “but based on the last few years, he’s given no indication of reverting back to his old ways. You don’t have to forgive him, and you don’t have to trust him—but please believe us that he’s earnest, at least.”
Eliana sighed, glared out of the window to her right—the sun had long since slipped under the horizon, plunging the sky into pitch darkness save the full moon spilling mercurial light upon the landscape and the stars sprinkling the farthest reaches—and tried to resolve the tumult in her mind. Her time running from him in the future as a human combined with her time as an Eevee once he’d revealed his true colors could not be ignored. But, for the sakes of Lu, Grovyle, and Celebi (who she had no doubts would have eradicated Dusknoir on the spot had he shown any further signs of ill intent and wouldn’t have hesitated to do so given the prolific bounds of her abilities), she—reluctantly—decided to tolerate the ghost-type’s presence…for the time being.
“…All right,” she acquiesced, “if you’re both certain, I’ll…be patient. But I will take care of him if he takes one step out of line.”
“We know. We would do the same.” Grovyle, too, glanced outside, as though to assess the time. “…I should probably head back to the bluff. We’ve an early start tomorrow since we took some jobs to the north of here a good ways.”
“Go get some rest, old friend,” bade Lu, “and take that basket with you. I had Chimecho provide extra for all three of you.”
“You needn’t keep feeding us, you know,” said the wood gecko Pokémon wryly, although his eyes shone with gratitude. “We are perfectly capable of keeping our own larder stocked.”
“Just bring the basket back for a refill,” Lu dismissed with a toothy grin. “Best of luck to you.”
Eliana’s heart rose to her throat as Grovyle stood. He stopped to give her another tight and long hug, which she returned wholeheartedly. She blinked away the burning in her eyes as he pulled away.
“I will see you once we return,” he promised her softly, lithe form lingering close—he didn’t want to leave, either. “We can discuss your situation going forward then. Rest well.”
“You, too. Be careful,” she murmured. “Don’t get lost.”
“I won’t.” His eyes crinkled in a smile. Then he grasped the basket, hefted the handle over his lithe shoulder, and slipped out of Lu’s office. The door shut with a punctual thud in his wake and the silence that followed was hollow.
Lu set his basket, emptied by himself and Eliana once he and Grovyle had convinced her to eat, to the side and rose to his feet. “You can stay in the Guild’s guest wing for now,” he said, “until you decide what to do. We’ve refurbished it a bit, so it should be more comfortable.”
Eliana nodded and followed him silently through the dimmed, sleepy Guild. The somewhat hidden stairwell that led to the basement containing the larder and the aforementioned accommodations for privileged guests within the sentry tunnel was cool and damp, as it always was after a recent rain, but once Lu stopped at the end of the tunnel and opened the door leading into the extra room, a flush of warm, dry air swept over her.
True to Lu’s word, the room had indeed been altered. Updated furniture kept the place from feeling too sparse, but the same hearth merrily crackling in the end of the room illuminated the floors and walls enough that it didn’t quite feel like the buried burrow it was. A new, vivid, plush, woven mat covered the packed dirt floor, and a fresh straw bed had been fashioned in the furthest corner in the warmest spot. The narrow bracket of shelves next to the respective spring-fed wash and drinking basins nearest the door had been fully stocked not only with food, but also basic items and more personal ones that Eliana quickly recognized—her Treasure Bag and Wonder Map, a hefty sack of her own money, as well as a small locked chest within which she had kept her belongings while they’d lived at Sharpedo Bluff. Lu had obviously anticipated her arrival well in advance to go to such lengths to have the place prepared thusly.
“You’re spoiling me,” Eliana whispered, smiling shakily. She’d about had it with the tears that day, as exhausting as it had been.
“I’m making sure you have everything you need,” he told her, shaking his head fondly and slipping an arm over her shoulder to tug her into his flank. “This room could be yours, if you wanted. I’d considered taking you on as an official consultant and assistant, if you wanted to. Chatot handles the administration, but it would be helpful to have someone with more hands-on experience. The apprentices can be quite a handful sometimes.” He huffed softly. “But don’t make a decision right now. I really shouldn’t have even brought it up, but I’m just so excited that you’re finally home, I…”
“It’s all right,” Eliana told him, tilting her head up to gaze at him warmly. “I’m glad you considered me for the position. I’ll start thinking about it.”
“That’s all I ask—there’s no pressure, of course.” He chuckled. “You may want to retire from all this nonsense, after all.”
“We’ll see.” Eliana hesitated, then dropped her chin and scuffed her foot along the weave of the rug. “I’m…sorry, you know…about getting carried away earlier. I didn’t mean to cause a scene and embarrass you.”
“I almost attacked him on first sight, too,” he said mildly, “and you didn’t embarrass me. I had hoped to warn you before he got there, since I thought Magnezone would keep him occupied for longer, but…I don’t think the others will hold it against you. It was a big adjustment for them, too. You reacted in a way for which no one could possibly fault you—including Dusknoir himself.”
Eliana frowned with a flat, low hum at that and slipped away from Lu’s grasp, stepping over to the drinking fountain to relieve her thirst.
“That’s why he didn’t fight back, you know.”
She glanced at her partner from out of the corner of her eye while she lapped from the cold, fresh water.
Lu’s face was creased with empathy as he grasped the silver bow tied around his neck with both paws, his blunted claws wringing the thinned fabric—the first indication of his old anxiety she’d seen all evening. “He didn’t try to stop you, I hope you realize that. He just acted in self-defense to keep you from hurting yourself.”
The recent impression of his unnaturally cool and massive hand coiling around her middle and nearly engulfing her whole torso all the way to her spine made her stiffen. Her entire body didn’t quite fit into his palm anymore, but he could still crush her if he wanted to.
…Yet he hadn’t. She’d bitten him before he could have, but…
“Don’t entirely reject the idea that he’s capable of redeeming himself just yet, Eliana,” Lu murmured pleadingly. “Please.”
“…I won’t,” she caved, turning and watching the flicker of amber firelight play over the lines in Lu’s face. He looked simultaneously younger and older than she remembered. “For you. And for Grovyle.”
Some of the fretful tension drained from his rigid form at her admission. “Thank you. I can’t demand that you give him a second chance, but…I’d ask that you at least try.”
Unable to give him any further verbal confirmation, she nodded instead.
He returned the gesture, smiled, and stepped back into the doorway. “Don’t hesitate to come get me if you need anything,” he said, “anything at all.”
“I will,” she replied.
He stopped, the edge of his mouth tightening.
“I won’t hesitate,” she amended with an irresistible chuckle, “and I will come get you.”
“All right,” he accepted, curling his paw around the door latch. “Good night, Eliana.”
“Good night,” she returned with a smile.
He replicated the gesture, then the door shut with a soft click as the latch lurched into place and secured her inside. The earth muffled any noises Lu would have made climbing back up into the next level, and the only company Eliana now had was the fire rasping at her back and the gentle trickle of water passing through its natural course towards the town’s reservoir.
It struck her suddenly, then, that this would be the first night she would spend alone in nearly a half a decade.
Eliana swallowed roughly, walked over to curl up onto the warm, soft bed that still smelled as though it had been bathed in sunshine, and squeezed her eyes shut to avoid their stinging.
She dreamed of perpetual darkness so dense it could be felt, and of pale, outstretched hands.

Brain itchy, crossover time - LU Chain as Pokemon Trainers
Sky: Ace is Pigeot (the first big bird Pokémon!). Also has an Sir Fetch’d and Morpeko (Master Sword/Remlits). The Legendary he would bond with in the inevitable movie would be Mew or Cressalia!
Four: Ace is a Rotom (which has several different forms/types and is also tiny and mischievous). Also has a Tinkaton and Sableye (smithing/Shadow, plus Four is mischievous I feel it). His legendaries would be Registeel or Zygarde.
Time: Ace is a Gallade (expert fighter that is also attuned to emotions and highly loyal). Also has a Miltank and Alolan Marowak (Lon Lon Ranch/Hero’s Shade). His legendaries would be Celebi and Ogerpon.
Wind: Ace is an Alolamora (caring sea creature that, in spite of looking like a Pokemon from a previous gen, is not related, just like he isn’t related to Time). Also has an Orthworm and a Wailmer (trains/Ocean King, plus it’s funny to give the kid giant Pokemon). His legendary would be Tornadus and Latias!
Twilight: Ace is a Lycanroc, Dusk Form (Yeah I think you can guess why). Also has a Mudsdale and Tauros (Epona/I know Tauros is a bull not a goat but it also links him to Time’s Miltank). His legendary would be Zacian and Giratina!
Legend: Ace is Flapple (Apple themed and jumpy but sweet deep down). Also has a Cinderace and Musharna (bunny/Koholint). Strikes me as the type who has actually caught every Pokémon. Legendary would be Lugia and Dialgia.
Hyrule: Ace is Pikachu (the original! plus they both know Thunder). Also has an Audino and a Riombee (Life/Fairy). Legendaries would be Keldeo and Shaymin.
Warriors: Ace would be a Lucario (noble, able to use Focus Spirit, strategic). He would also have a Falinks and a Kangaskhan (soldiers/caring for his little brothers). His legendary would be Reshiram and Solageo.
Wild: Ace would be Houndstone (loyal Pokémon who returned from death). Also has an Octillery and Alcremie (ranged fighter/cook). His legendary would be Suicuine or Rayquaza.

LU Pokemon Au
Tumblr media
I literally know nothing about the downfall duo… and anything I do know is entirely from fandom so….. Imagine much like legend his entire team is tired and jaded, only fueled by their duty as the hero. They all still care but they just so goddamn tired from it all. Sweet Hylia just give the man a break.
And it wasn't till the end that I noticed half the team had rabbit ears or ‘V’ shaped visual designs. It's entirely by coincidence I swear!
---
Time Sky Warriors Twilight Wild ✌️Legend Hyrule Four Wind
Team descriptions under the cut 👋👀
✌ ️Victini: The victory pokemon. Victini shares legend's bitterness towards the goddess’, and anxiety to always prevail.
I honestly see victini as a mini legend, a literal bunny ledge if u will. They even have cute little wings! ... Would it be too much to give them a matching red vest 🤔
✌️ Delibird: A bond formed through hoarding. Sometimes legend would have to fight Delibird for his own items because the bird didn't want to share, though it's mostly to tease Legend, nudging him to loosen up a bit more.
✌️ Lucario: Lucario's EQ is high. Legend's an emotional wreck of a teenager. Aside from being a strong fighter Lucario is there to help emotionally support Legend. Carefully monitoring him, seeing through his snark to his true emotions, and knowing whether to soothe or give the Veteran space.
✌️ Sableye: Something about this gremlin seems right. I haven't played any of Legend's games but this choice feeeels right. All I know is sableye has a good eye for treasure and expertly appraises any loot and items they come across.
Sableye is also very critical of which accessories Legend wears out, styling him to make sure they match aesthetically.
✌️ Ditto: Legend has done it all, and what Ditto sees Ditto does. Ditto can transform into any item Legend has used in his adventures, and while can transform into creatures and humans it exhausts them quickly. Plus they have a preference for magical items.
Ditto doesn't rest inside their pokeball, instead opting to transform into one of legend's accessories ready to fight at a moment's notice.
✌️ Enamuros: The love-hate pokemon. Forced to travel to resolve worldly conflicts is something they both have in common.
Originally I picked suicune since they do something similar purifying contaminated waters across the world. But then I discovered Enamuros and they felt like a better choice for Ledge.
I hc all legendaries can speak human so… Enamuros, Victini, and Ledge spend many hours bitching about hylia and her grudge against them. 9 adventures is 8 too many.
---
Notes: So fandom agrees legend refuses to sleep. Well in the pokemon au it's because Darkrai curses him to dream of Koholint, and sometime during that quest he encounters Cresellia, who gives him a lunar feather (to help wake up? I haven't played the game eep)
🔴 Partner Pokemon: Victini
⚪ Smaller team: Victini, Delibird, Lucario

____________
See This Link Right Here? Yeah This Is Mine Now
Frail. Weak. Despondent.
An energy unbefitting of one who should be free.
That's what you thought.
You were chased by the enemy into yet another portal, confused by sudden screams and shouts, the blur of different auras zooming across your vision. Before you knew it, you had been launched to a different place via the mystic swirl of crimson and ebony. And now you stand before a castle, so tall did its walls of stone loom over you, casting a long and dark shadow as the sun moves slowly across the sky.
You never truly liked castles, you didn't like how cold they felt. How it restrained the free, repressed the wild, ridiculed the wayward. It was just a prison, to you. Harsh and unforgiving.
So when you felt such a helpless aura from beneath the icy stone, you couldn't help but follow it. The closer you drew towards it, the more familiar it felt. It was as if you knew this soul yet didn't, a sense of deja vu in some sense. Buried underneath the despair and weakness, this soul burned with courage, armed with a mettle not seen in many.
That's when it registered in your mind. It felt like your friends, the heroes that have guarded Hyrule for centuries to millennia. Knowing this, it only fueled you to want to find the hero faster. You must.
So quietly did you sneak through the cracks in the castle's walls, so swiftly did you pass the guards who were none the wiser to the intruder that slipped past their defenses. Silent and agile, hiding in the shades of the privileged and the foolish. It didn't take long to find what you were looking for.
A thin and fragile body, wrists held up by shackles of steel as the man hung limp. One would think him dead if not for the shallow and slow breaths he took. His ankles were shackled as well, bare feet standing amongst a cobblestone floor soaked in water and mildew. He wore a green tunic that had seen better days, the fabric ripped in various places, exposing parts of his belly and ribs, skin a sickly pale as his bones showed through thin flesh. His pants fared no better, one leg half torn and the other ripped partially at the hem.
The poor soul had been here a while, the scent of emaciation becoming abundantly clear. You didn't hesitate to pull the hairpin out of your hair, placing the end of it into the cell door lock and twisting it. The mechanism clicked, and you pushed the door open, the hinges nearly screeching in outrage as metal scraped against metal.
The man didn't look up, but did seem noticeably more exhausted, if that were even possible. You slowly approached, equally bare feet stepping across the damp floor. A set of feathers and charms adorned your left ankle, held by a string of leather, the edges dragging across the ground where you walked. You peered below the man's downcast face, blonde bangs obscuring his face from your sight.
You raised your hand up, placing it on the man's cheek. He raised his head, feeling a warmth he hasn't experienced before and the coolness of the silver rings on your fingers. Cold blue eyes met a mask of white, depicting a jackal with lavender and rose gold.
Your mouth hung open slightly in shock, and you wasted no time moving your hands down to the shackles around his ankles and channeled a substantial amount of power into the metal. The metal gleamed with blue cracks before it burst in a flash of light and fell away, the shards ringing as they hit the ground. You did this to the ones around his wrists as well, preparing for when he inevitably fell forward and into your awaiting arms.
You readjusted his body so that his back leaned against one of your arms, moving down to hook your other arm underneath his knees and lifted him up into your embrace. You could feel his bones through his tattered clothing, finding you were both furious and alarmed at how light the man was. You were quick to leave the moldy cell, quietly padding through the hallowed halls of the dungeon as you secure your escape route.
Nobody knew you had taken the prisoner, and they wouldn't until the next guard rotation to feed him. You internally smiled at how outraged they would be when they would find their prisoner gone. But right now you were focused on something else. You were focused on him.
The man hadn't moved much since you took him out of the cell, though that was to be expected. You had no idea how long they kept him locked up, but he was very weak, hence why you needed to carry him.
But once did you notice him blearily open his eyes to look up at the sky, the passing trees, and then you. An assuring smile found its way on your lips, as you looked down at him through the white jackal mask you had on.
"It's okay, you're safe now. I'll take care of you."
And his eyes closed once more, leaning his head on your chest as he was lulled into a dreamless sleep.

Link woke up to fresh air and soft bedding.
He could hardly move without feeling some sort of pain, his body was too sore to do so. It didn't stop him however, from sitting up to try and examine his surroundings. That's when he felt it, the bandages wrapped around his limbs and body, the subtle scent of a medicinal salve rubbed into his wounds and the tender scarring around his wrists and ankles.
When he finally got the chance to look around, he could see that the sun had begun its descent below the horizon, painting the sky in beautiful shades of tangerine and heliotrope. He was hidden in a small grotto of sorts, if the stone hanging over his head was anything to go by. The ground was covered in moss and grass alike, though he himself sat among a soft fur pelt. Draped over his shoulders was a large coat, white in color whilst the inside was lined with velvety fur.
A fire crackled and burned some feet away from him, close enough to keep him warm but far enough so the embers wouldn't sear his already fragile skin. In a wooden bowl before him was a small loaf of bread and warm food, the scent of cooked beef and potatoes flooding his nose and making his mouth water. He wanted to reach out to take it, but hesitated.
No, this was another dream again, wasn't it? Link would get those every once in a while. He'd dream that he was finally out of that dingy cell below the castle and could wander the world once more.
Link shook his head, and gingerly wrapped his trembling hands around the bowl, savoring the warmth that emanated from the wood. He plucked out the loaf and took a slow bite, tearing a chunk off and started chewing. Sweet, the bread was sweet. It's been so long since he's tasted anything even remotely sweet.
He bit into the beef next, soaking his tongue in the flavor it had. The potatoes had the same amount of taste to it, and Link swore he could almost cry. If this was truly a dream, then he wanted it to last for as long as he could manage it. The feeling was too nice to let go of so quickly.
"Sweet astrals, if I didn't make that myself I would've thought that you were eating Wild's cooking."
Link's head snapped toward the origin of the mysterious, smooth voice. He was met with bicolored eyes of silver and umber, gazing at him in amusement. Snowy curls bellowed around the newcomer's head, spilling over their shoulders and back like clouds rolling across the sky. A few braids here, some feathers and charms there, but what caught Link's eye was the white jackal mask that hung from the side of the belt on their hip.
"It's you…!"
He flinched at the sound of his own voice, hoarse from years without use. The stranger's smile never faltered though, they tilted their head at him.
"Hello there, my name is Compass," they introduced, before adding. "Well, it's not actually, but it's what my friends of the minute have taken to calling me."
They continued to speak. "And if you hadn't already guessed, I'm the one who got you out of that moonblasted cell they had you in."
So you were the one who rescued him. The soothing voice assuring him he was safe, the tranquil energy that made him feel so very warm. You saved him.
"Your name is Link, right?"
He slowly nodded his head, not really questioning how this stranger knew his name. He moved to sit up more as the coat over his shoulders shifted forward and covered his thin frame.
Compass hummed and pressed their forefinger and thumb against their chin thoughtfully, propping their elbow against their other arm tucked underneath their chest. They looked like they were trying to decide something, their eyes closed in contemplation. They seemed somewhat troubled, over what he didn't know.
"Well, I know we just met and all, but I don't really like the idea of leaving you alone, especially in your current state," Compass said. "It also doesn't help that the situation I'm about to explain to you is going to make me sound like I've gone off the deep end. So, please, if I'm ever going to ask something of you, it's going to be that you bear with me?"
And he didn't see any reason why he shouldn't.

Does lu get to keep the shaved spikes?
Because he could make a sword out of them
It would be awesome
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To answer your question: no, I don’t usually get to keep them. I’m not sure what they do with them, really. Never thought to ask.
But… then again… that WOULD be cool… maybe next time I can-
YOU ARE NOT MAKING YOUR SPIKE SHAVINGS INTO A SWORD, LUCARIO.
(btw: just as a reminder, Lucario goes by she/they pronouns! -Mod)
