"Lucas, I'm glad you came."

Cyllene set down the paper she was looking at, putting her full attention on the young man. Lucas stepped into the office before addressing the captain.

"Of course. I'm assuming this is a mission? "

He was slightly hesitant, he had only calmed the Lord Electrode a few days ago, a hard enough mission given by the commander himself.

"Yes. We've received reports of a possible new faller. A child, this time."

She paused to allow him time for that to sink in. A child. How young were they? They must have been terrified.

Gathering himself, lucas asked, " so, what do you want me to do? Find them and bring them back to jubalife?"

Cyllene gave a small frown. "While that would be ideal, the reports say the child has been adopted by a pack of zoroark, which as I'm sure you've heard are some of the most dangerous pokemon in the highlands, perhaps all of Hisui. For now, this is a location mission, finding the pack that took them in and, if possible, conversing with the child."

Lucas nodded. Zoroark were incredibly dangerous, if the stories were to be believed. Even in all his survey work he hadn't encountered a single one, proof of their strange ability to hide as other pokemon. Or their ability to hide in general, one of the two. Which brought up a question that needed answering;

"How will I find the zoroark? They could be anywhere in the highlands."

Cyleene handed him the paper she had been looking over. "This is a map of the highlands, those red circles show where people have claimed to encounter zoroark. Besides that, Irida has agreed to having the warden Ingo accompany you. I will also send along a few members of the security corps to make sure you find the child safely."

The trip to the highlands went smoothly. A few curious pokemon but the security corps were quick to turn them away. They made for one of the established camps, where Lucas further studied the map cyllene gave him. The biggest cluster of red looked to be on the other side of the mountains, closer to the Icelands. Lucas talked through with the security corps leader whether they should go there or another location that was easier to get to but had less zoroark sightings.

"Look, if we find a large pack of zoroark, it will be harder to get close. They are very protective of their young, I'm certain they would show the same protectiveness to a human child that was adopted into the pack." The leader explained.

"But on the other hand, it's our best bet of even finding the zoroark. They're elusive, I don't even know anyone who's seen one." Lucas sighed.

There was no way they'd be able to decide. They would have to wait for Ingo to see what he thought was best. after all, he was more knowledgeable about the highlands than either of them.

Ingo arrived shortly before nightfall, with a sneasel at his side.

"Apologies for the delay, I had to attend Lady Sneasler." He gestured to the sneasel and explained,

"This sneasel is one of my lady's oldest, in fact she is her eldest daughter. Lady Sneasler has been training her to become the new noble, in case anything should happen. She wished her to accompany me on this mission to learn about the far reaches of the highlands and the other kinds of pokemon."

The leader- Jamie, he'd mentioned- gave a nod.

Ooo good idea! Here's a few fics I adore to pieces and have reread more than a few times:

we'll build a bridge (An incomplete collection of unconnected one shots)

Summary: The only constant is this: they find each other. The how might change, but the why doesn’t, and the why is what matters, here. (The why is this: one never stops searching, and one never stops hoping.)

(Made me cry multiple times. Happy endings and heartfelt reunions: it's got everything you need to feel good inside. My favorite chaoters are 3 and 8)

Ounce of Prevention (incomplete)

Summary: If one suspects strangers of causing the apocalypse, one generally should not allow them to continue to roam free. They should ideally be restrained until their innocence (or guilt) can be proven. Even if one of them is a child and openly sobbing at the thought of her only family hating her. Even if the other one's absence is probably going to be noticed by a very large, very dangerous Pokémon.

Elsewhere, the rift spits out a man in white. He's not her Warden, but Sneasler will take all the help she can get in finding him.

(ABSOLUTELY INSANELY GOOD like this is one of my favorite submas fics. Just thrilling and had be binge it in a frenzy. Awesome action scenes, cool plot, and badass Emmet, like seriously Emmet's characterization here is god tier and I think about it constantly. I actually drew a comic based on a scene from this fic here. )

In Tandem (Incomplete)

Summary: Or in which Arceus calls upon two pairs of twins to stop two doomsday plots simultaneously.

Ingo and Emmet are summoned to two different Jubilifes, to two different teenagers to aid them in their seemingly innocent journeys for reasons they do not fully understand. Dark machinations are at work though, and if everyone wants to get home safe at the end of the day it will take every ounce of strength, conviction and courage to brave the trials set before them.

(A verrrry good story: good plot (like you'll get invested), good action, good pacing, and good characterization! I haven't read many fics with Lucas and Dawn and this ones just amazing. I wait patiently for its updates)

The Hand (Complete)

Summary: It was something Ingo always wondered about.

(Unexpected premise but I really like it for some reason and have reread it multiple times)

Give Not Into Sorrow (Complete)

Summary: Something strange is going on in Hisui. There are reports of a man in white roaming the wildlands while leading a pack of Pokemon . Some say they're a mix of Pokemon, some claim they're a pack of zoroarks. Some swear that the man is none other than the amnesiac warden of the Pearl Clan. One thing is certain. Those who meet the man in white all report the same thing: He is looking for his brother. And he will not rest until he finds him.

(Absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching. Deal with grief, with anger and with holding on and letting go. Drew a comic for this just yesterday too)

Conductor of Stone (Completed)

Summary: Ingo was not alone when he woke up in the region of Hisui.

There was a man next to him who shared his face. With a body as cold as ice.

Who are you?

A Land of the Lustrous au! Cool concept and excellent writing that sucks you in. This is actually part of a series which is also very good. The author, PerpetuallySleepy, is a favorite of mine too and they have a bunch of other ones shot fics I recommend checking out!

Intermittent Retention (Complete)

Summary: In theory, the space-time distortions should not overly effect Ingo's daily routine. They certainly wouldn't, if he could remember what happens after he steps inside of them. Even that could be overlooked, reluctantly, if Ingo weren't overwhelmingly drawn to them despite their amnesia-inducing properties. Or if anyone else had this problem. Something happens to Ingo when time and space break down around him, something that leaves him with fierce joy and crippling grief he cannot find a source for, and he's going to figure out what in the world is going on.

Diamond Crossing (Complete)

Summary: So, here’s the thing. Elesa’s best friend is a little…weird.

She means it in the nicest way possible. But there’s no getting around the fact that Coop is weird.

Their mood swings are all over the place, very serious at one moment and unhinged child at the next. They sprouted train facts at the drop of the hat, insisted on not only being in charge of Gear Station but taking it a step further and turning Gear Station into the Battle Subway. They’re honestly crazy for that alone.

Elesa does her modeling career on top of being a Gym Leader and a lot of people think she’s crazy. She will argue that it’s nothing compared to Coop running the entire transportation system for Nimbasa City on top of being a Battle Facility.

She adores Coop though. She really means it when she says Coop is her best friend. And no matter how crazy Coop comes across as, she knows Coop won't hurt anyone.

("Well, there are exceptions, of course," Coop says, tone serious and expression set to a frown. "We don’t allow unruly passengers for starters." They then smiled, brightening. "And anyone who makes Elesa cry will be tied to the train track and run over." )

So about six years ago, I created a homebrew system for a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon tabletop game. It didn't quite pan out, so I migrated to a heavily homebrewed version of DnD 5e (also designed by yours truly.) a trainer with a team filled with whimsical and cute water/fairy type pokemon, but don't be fooled by his soft exterior as something darker lies within. he hails from the aquatic region of Hoenn

by darker i mean i'm trying to make an eki reference while still keeping up with the pokemon theme ok

his partner pokemon, surprisingly enough, is a Mimikyu - with the cuteness of the fairy type and the darkness of well... a dark type pokemon, ike seems to vibe pretty well with the little fellow

the kind of trainer who seeks beauty within his region - he wants to document all the kinds of pokemon and study as a researcher

LUCA KANESHIRO

a wild card who isn't restricted to pokemon types, but very well known to be a friendly fellow who wants to befriend all kinds of people and pokemon. a sunny fellow from the island region of Alola

ok if we were to boil it down to two types... maybe dragon and steel

his signature pokemon is a Pyroar - strong, elegant and well... a lion. what more must i say?

either way, he hails from a long line of champions and he wishes to also claim the champion title for himself, however, he found himself having more fun battling without any regard to the champion title and befriending everyone he has met. he decided that befriending everyone and every pokemon in the world was more important to him than the champion title

MYSTA RIAS

a quirky detective whose team is filled with electric types and fighting types. he hails from Sinnoh, but is often seen region-jumping due to the nature of his job

electrifying on the battlefield and full of punch, mysta is often the target of regional bad guys due to his sleuthing nature, thankfully his quick-witted team is there to help.

he's very affectionate towards his Nickit - with that said, more often than not it appears as if the little fox pokemon is seen teasing the poor detective over most mundane situations

mysta dreams of a unified world and is on a journey to snuff out evil organizations each region faces.

SHU YAMINO

a trainer of the mystic arts... and of psychic/ghost pokemon. he's a guardian of a shrine residing in the Johto region

shu's signature pokemon is surprisingly enough, a Zoroark - both are mysterious and often behind some sort of illusion.

shu's been in and out of the psychic world for as long as he remembers and is often the target of malevolent souls of those with strong hatred, thankfully with the help of his pokemon, he has avoided trouble with such whisps.

as mentioned, shu is the guardian of a shrine somewhere in johto; he uses his skills as a pokemon trainer in order to protect said shrine - but he does often go out on field days to become even stronger as a guardian.

VOX AKUMA

a popular restaurant owner from the Unova region who has a passion for the culinary arts and for pokemon who are polar opposites - grass and fire.

he's got a Simisage by his side - with the help of his signature pokemon, vox is able to both harvest newly grown vegetables and cook at his restaurant!

he and his pokemon team are often seen running around a kitchen and restaurant floor in the Unova region, he's most popular for his home-style cooking and a lively restaurant.

he dreams of making his restaurant a big name in Castelia city and a dream he'll soon reach with the help of his pokemon team and loyal customers!

My hand slipped

I have been drowning in this AU I came up with. A ash in Hisui au. :) Okay so Ash gets sent to Hisui, without Pikachu (and its pre journeys ash), because if Ingo can't have his team neither can Ash. Ash was picked up by the Diamond clan, and has amnesia, worst than Ingo (headcannon Arceus takes all your memories and name so you can be his champion basically not have Ingo's longing for home) he can't remember anything including his name, which he dubs himself Satoshi. And became lady Zoroark's warden because heck yeah. ( I have too many timelines for this au help) Pokemon team is Alpha Raichu, Hisuian Goodra ( feels familiar but different), Espeon (haha red reference), Hisuian Arcainine ( it trigger a memory of a orange head boy with the same pokemon but different), lucario, and Weavile ( it needs some love Okay). Lady Zoroark is a guide for the alabaster forest and the bone chill waste. Satoshi is covered in baby zorua all the time. When Rei and Ingo disappear ( Arceus forgo Ash, and Rei needs love) Satoshi is the only skyfaller left in Hisui and someone wants the Clan leaders dead, and the assassination attempt just so happen when Diamond clan was invited to Pearl clan area, and both Ash and his Lucario get killed protecting the leaders, his Lucario goes first and Ash is Spiteful and in the snow a Zorua howl is heard from Ash's corpse and a Shiny Zorua emerged and with bitter malice it kills the attackers and Ash leaves. Only for 200 years Arceus has a oh shit moment and text Satoshi and says "find thy other fallers of sky of Hisui and then find thy memories" and resurrects his hisuian team. Rei and ingo land in Professer Ceris lab with the pokemon back. Instead of Ash and Goh its Gary and Goh. Satoshi is a Zoroark now and still has his flute his Lady died years ago he has now taken her place but not really he took a long nap. Ends up teleporting to Aloha, which Goh, Rei (Lucas), Gary, and Ingo go because Ultra wormholes, and for our fallers to truly greive about their friends and fellow sky faller. They broke in used computers and had a crisis about their deaths. And in Aloha the fallers reunite and Gary gets to met Ash.

Ash is N anscestor so any love interest from the past series didn't win.

Hi????? Oh my god, I had to stop and check that this wasn't one of my other blogs getting this ask. Thank you so much, I really appreciate the compliment!!

As for my headcanons/theories... most of them are generally character-based, but i have a few I'd be happy to share! (readmore because this gets long ^^")

General headcanons:

All of the Pokémon Leagues in the world vary on strength and community investment. Near the bottom are leagues like Alola's (brand new, little support), Paldea's (made for multiple Champions, one of their leaders double-dips as Elite 4), Kanto's (prolonged, unresolved absence of one Gym Leader, lack of a Champion until your rival), and Unova's (consistent turnover in leaders, champions, and gym locations; only league to canonically be defeated by a Team). From there, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kalos are all relatively similar in "solid league" territory, with Galar's being the most heavily invested-in and supported league in the series.

Humans with psychic powers, medium abilities, special type affinities (think Iris's "understanding the hearts of Dragons", rather than typical gym leaders), or otherwise inexplicable abilities (whatever the Shadow Triad is doing?) tend to have slightly Pokémon-influenced genetics, as ties back to the infamous Japanese Canalave City library entry. This tends to go many generations back, rather than direct. (No, N is not a Zoroark. Could he be distantly related to one? Maybe.)

The average age for gym challenges varies by region. (Our protags do not necessarily hit that average.) Kanto through Sinnoh skew younger, from 10-12 (since they're all geographically in similar areas). Alola is solidly at 11. Unova and Kalos tend to be somewhere from 13-15. Paldea is literally any age, hence the adults in uniforms. Galar trends older, more towards an average of 16. Yes, this makes Leon's refusal to involve you in any situation ever look sillier. (Leon is considered exceptionally young for the challenge at 10, and all of your potential challengers in the Champion Cup look generally in their older teens. Also, I refuse to believe Marnie's wearing a crop top for her League uniform before she's 16.)

"Official" starter Pokémon are endangered species. Professors generally hope that by giving them to young trainers, they'll encourage species awareness and growth.

Battles follow anime rules more than game rules. Terrain advantages, move combinations to create effects, etc. are all a part of battles. The only exception, for the sake of my sanity when creating content, is that fish Pokémon float. And even I'm aware that's not realistic, even if it's funny.

Character headcanons:

The "main" protags in my mind are Red, Ethan, May, Lucas, Hilda, Rosa, Calem, Selene, Gloria, "Akari", and Florian.

In order of public perception from "weird kid" to "popular kid" for protags: Red, Gloria, Lucas, Selene, May, Hilda, Ethan, "Akari", Calem, Rosa, Florian.

None of the members of either the Galar Gang or the Paldea Gang are normal.

Hop is trans. While his being trans is in no way related to Leon, his attempts at proving himself and trying to live up to his brother's example of masculinity are at least a little related.

Bede's time in the orphanage is a result of parental neglect rather than money or being orphaned by definition.

Nemona is not a stalker, JFC. She's just excited to have a friend equally interested in battling as her for once in her goddamn life. She is very touchy, huggy, clingy without realizing it, though.

Penny is very heavily involved in whatever the Pokémon equivalent of Tumblr and AO3 are. She convinces Arven, Nemona, and Florian to watch anime with her on the regular.

How do I look after myself?

Ah, the Zorua line. An interesting one. Just as a note, I generally write these for trainers, but I'm sure you can probably get some pointers here.

General notes: The saying among trainers is "you don't catch a zorua. They catch you." and they aren't really wrong. Many parents have smiled indulgently at their child's newly caught "weedle" until it sneezes and breaks the illusion. I generally advise trainers to be aware of basic zorua and zoroark care as the odds of them catching one accidently are slim but never zero.

General care: Though in diet and general housecare, a zorua is not dissimilar to an eevee or vulpix, they are very VERY smart, and as such require near constant enrichment and entertainment. A bored zorua can be destructive. Games, toys, and plenty of training are essential. Another factor to keep in mind is that zorua in particular can be timid. They aren't very big and strong when young, and are potential prey for many larger pokemon, so place a number of hiding spots around the house.

Be mentally prepared to encounter a number of shenanigans. They may take the form of large dangerous pokemon, small silent children, or just hide for hours and watch in amusement as you panic. A patient trainer is a MUST. Zoroarks have slightly different care requirements. Around human sized, they need a little more space, larger sleeping spaces etc. As well, zoroarks are capable of speaking in human form, though how much depends on the pokemon in question. Some can be chatty, others may simply request more treats and fluffier blankets.

Much more important to note is that zoroark are capable of making larger and more realistic illusions. it's not unknown for them to turn their house or bedroom into a forest or glade when they want a nice nap. So be aware of this.

I do not generally recommend the zorua line for people who struggle with disassociation and unreality. Discuss with your medical professional. Care rating: Orange.

Training: Dark types sadly have undeserved reputations for being hard to train. Zorua and zoroark take to battling and training well, and generally enjoy it.

For general day to day behaviour, work on teaching them the difference between funny and cruel pranks. They will play tricks, and you do need to accept that, but there is a difference between playfully hiding your phone and playfully hiding your medication. They aren't cruel by nature, but like children, they do need to be taught that some things just aren't acceptable. As with all pokemon, positive reinforcement is best. The zorua line isn't hard to train, but you need to be consistent and fair. Training rating: Green

Safety: No real notes here. Though the illusions can be distressing for some people, as a general rule the zorua line is pretty safe. Though if you let it play with children make absolutely sure the right kid gets taken home. Safety rating: Green.

Overall ranking. A somewhat tricky pokemon, the zorua line is best for people who are patient, alert and tolerant of japes and tomfoolery. Probably not a beginner pokemon, but with its tendency to hide its form, it may wind up being one anyway.
