Ok so I don’t think Jace died in the mountains of chaos. I think he died way before all of this, and possibly before the bad kids and rat grinders were in school. Jace chose The Rat Grinders to go to the mountains of chaos because he knew of Kipperlily’s rage and knew she could be manipulated. The rest of her party was just a bonus. That does make me feel a bit bad for the Rat Grinders because they were taken advantage of by an adult they were supposed to trust. However, I don’t think it was just Jace alone.

We know at the end of freshman year/beginning of sophomore year season Ragh saw Kalina talk to Jace and Porter. These are the names Kalina couldn’t say. Thus Porter is likely involved in this plot and may have helped kill The Rat Grinders. When were they killed though? This is where my theory goes off the rails.

My personal theory, which is me over thinking past interactions, is sometime before the beginning of freshman year. In episode 3 of freshman year Jace says “ I gotta be straight with you about that. I don't know why you talk that way. I'm trying to make a bridge between you and me. We're coworkers. I'd like to get along, you know? You're not required to be my friend, but, like, a little cordiality, man. Like, spoonful of sugar. Help me out, man. I'm here trying to make something happen.” to Porter. Back then it was just hey we teach together we should at least get along. Now I’m wondering if it’s anything more than that, especially with this new information.

I think the rage god killed Lucy Frostblade somehow (possibly like a previous theory mentioned, Porter who's ancestors might've worshiped the rage god) and used the anger the Rat Grinders already had for the Bad Kids and the grief from the death of their friend to manipulate them into what they think is a grand plan to revive Lucy but is actually a plot to revive the dead rage god. They saw it was possible because their former partner Cassandra was brought back.

I also think that relationship was real bad based on the way how often acts like she seems heavily traumatized by something in her past pre-kristen.

PS. i think the rage god will also attempt to get Bucky to be their paladin

PSS. Porter is also training Fig to become a paladin of the rage god

2 things from Fantasy High: Sophomore Year and these last few Episodes that I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention but does feel like a big puzzle piece to me,

When telling the Bad Kids about Kalina, Ragh mentions that it was because he saw Jace StarDiamond talking to Adaine’s Mom and another invisible person (Kalina). Afterwards, Jace and Porter came and did a “healing” on Ragh, after which Ragh saw Kalina for the first time. A couple episodes later we hear about a Slyvian healer working in Fallinel being fired(?) because they were casting spells on their patients which, if I remember correctly, was implied to be how the Kalina Plague spread. So for whatever reason Jace and Porter were either intentionally or accidentally doing some light "bringing the end of the world" last year. I think that because of that, Jace most definitely can’t be trusted, especially since he’s assumed the role of Vice Principal (which I believe Goldenhoard stated as being mainly about non-academic student issues very early in S1). I’m not sure what his fucking end goal is yet but I don’t think he’s inconsequential.

Based on how Molman from the Soil Club reacted to being given the soil from where the Bad Kids found Lucy Frostblades body and how Rueban talked about Lucy and how Shitterlily seemed very protective of Oisin and keeping him out of her schemes in ep 10, I don’t think that Rat Grinders killed Lucy on purpose. Molman was kind of nerdy and quiet when we first met him, but after sniffing the infected soil became filled with rage. So maybe the Rat grinders are trying to infect Elmville with rage to possibly bring back this god OR that soil was already infected and when the Rat Grinders saw Lucy out there resurrecting rats, they were filled with an unexplained rage that wasn’t even accurate to how they were feeling and killed her. Which feels very in line with some past themes in other intrepid heroes campaigns, like losing control and hurting the people you love (Barry Battalion, Ylfa, etc).

Idfk if it’s worth anything but these two thoughts have been circling in my brain for like a few weeks.

Did anyone else feel weird about how Zara and Porter were trying to get Fig to change her paladin oath? Like I understand where they are coming from with it being so sudden to be a paladin and devote to Cassandra, but the fact that they were trying to have her change it to a rage based specifically. Why wouldn’t you try and have her change to the obvious oath to her friends? Also when fig used a luck point to Reroll and hit a Nat20 Brennan said no so that leads me to believe that there was something more to Zara and Porter than just a relationship. I think they might have something to do with the rage god. Zara going out at night while most people are asleep gives her an opportunity to go a bit undetected. This season has also been all about finishing bits so finishing the bit of Fig never trusting Porter and he turns out to be evil when she finally starts to trust him seems very likely to me.
