I cannot stand sibling truthers who insist Luz is supposed to be Caleb...
As if Hunter isnt a literal clone of this man who is trying to detach himself from Caleb's image.... as if Hunter and Caleb weren't LITERALLY MIRRORED at the beginning of TTT...
As if TTT did not show Hunter is supposed to be Caleb during the Tale of The Brother's Wittebane by showing us a piece of animation from HM... As if Luz isn't supposed to represent the witch from another world even though she embodies Evelyn's themes to a tee...
As if Flapjack, the physical representation of Caleb and Evelyn's love didn't choose Luz to save Hunter... as if Flapjack didn't fly to Luz when he was on his deathbed... as if Hunter didn't ask Luz to help him fight his brother in an episode that literally established them as Caleb and Evelyn... like...

hey since in my last post i vaguely mentioned that i like Lunter, why don't i ramble about it a little bit because i really like Lunter
i've honestly really liked them as a pairing ever since Hunting Palismen, and my descent into absolute brain-rotting madness for them was very much assisted by the actual personal attack on me that was Hollow Mind because, wow, okay, just put some of my most favorite character dynamic/relationship tropes into an episode while simultaneously ripping my heart out and then kicking me while i'm down with the knowledge that Luz is in a relationship with someone else during almost the entire time of even knowing Hunter. yeah okay cool cool, i have totally chill and normal thoughts and feelings about them like a regular person. i'm good.
but one thing i absolutely adore about them, especially, is the parallels they have to Caleb & Evelyn. and while i would absolutely go on a 72-paragraph thesis of a tangent on why i'm so in love with ships that reference or directly parallel being like a previous romantic relationship and subtly or explicitly stating that they were fated or destined to be together, i will hold back on that for now to instead write a thesis of a tangent on another reason why i love that they parallel Caleb and Evelyn: they parallel them better than any other relationship in the show.
i have seen a fair bit of people try to argue for the potential parallels and symbolisms between other characters' relationships and Caleb & Evelyn's, such as with Luz and Amity or with Hunter and Willow (hell i think i saw one post somewhere trying to connect Caleb & Evelyn to Eda & Raine and honestly? i respect that tenacity) and i don't think that drawing some similarities between Caleb & Evelyn's relationship to the different ones Luz and Hunter have in their lives is bad or wrong in any way; i do think that the good ol' Owl House crew were deliberately trying to make some connections there, especially since they seem pretty adamant about Luz & Amity and Hunter & Willow being endgame. but the thing about it for me, though, is that none of those other ships parallel Caleb & Evelyn as thoroughly and believably as Luz and Hunter do.
like, let's take a step back and just look at the structures of both Caleb & Evelyn's lives and incentives and Luz and Hunter's:
For Caleb and Evelyn, they obviously were from two completely different walks of life, both figuratively and literally: Evelyn was a witch, likely born and bred from the Boiling Isles itself and possibly found herself stuck in the human realm (potentially on accident too), and was most definitely hated, feared, and utterly rebuked from human society for just being who and what she was. And then there was Caleb, a human who had assimilated to a lifestyle of murdering/supporting the murder of people like Evelyn in order to fit in with good ol' 1613 society, likely just to find a life where he and his younger brother could be safe, happy, healthy, and accepted.
When Caleb and Evelyn met, there was obviously some kind of spark or bond between them, regardless of however it may have initially presented itself, that was strong enough for Caleb to end up retreating with Evelyn into the demon realm and learning more about the world and its magic, over staying with and protecting his younger brother Philip, as he seemed to have done all his life up until meeting Evelyn.
For Hunter and Luz, they also come from very different walks of life: Hunter is a magically bio-engineered clone of Caleb made by Belos/Philip for the purpose of "rebirthing" his older brother as his loyal right hand man that would never leave or betray him ever again. Hunter was never able to truly be his own person even before he found out that he was a Grimwalker, and never got to gain any of the life experiences that a normal person could (i.e. biologically being able to perform magic, learning about the worlds and realms, uncovering and studying true history that Belos had banned or covered up). He knew nothing of socializing with people his age and rarely ever got to leave the Emperor's castle as it was, and his only reason for being alive was secretly just a sick and twisted way for Philip Wittebane to live out the fantasy life he'd always wanted; one without witches, and one where his brother would finally stay with him.
And then there's Luz, a human girl who, while having the full opportunity of learning new things and making friends, never got to do so, as she was a social outcast for all her life because her own interests and quirks didn't align with that of her peers, or most of anyone who knew her. Thus she was drawn to the many mediums of art, and the genres of fantasy and fiction, where she could immerse herself in a story and imagine herself as the hero who goes on epic quests and makes a bunch of friends along the way. And when she found herself in a world where all of that could become true, she discovered that despite being physically and biologically different from everyone around her, she was so much more at home with the people who were once, in human history, considered to be vile, evil monsters.
When Luz and Hunter met, there was obviously some kind of spark or bond between them, regardless of their initial tension and hostility towards each other, that was strong enough for Hunter to go against the orders of Emperor Belos for Luz, and then eventually betray and flee from Belos altogether with her, over staying with and defending the man who had (quite literally) given him life and a home, as he had done all his life up until meeting Luz.
Like, on this pretty basic story level, you can obviously see that these two pairings mirror each other almost perfectly. Of course there are some differences between them, and some places where one character might parallel the opposite one in the relationship (i.e. Luz and Caleb both being humans, Evelyn being a witch and Hunter technically being one too). But overall, just from this level, you can just see how well they all reflect and complement each other, how aspects of their characters beautifully contrast one another as well as the antagonists of the story, and how both their relationships, despite the adversity they face for being who and what they are and the type of lives they'd lived growing up, manage to find each other, and be the catalyst for one of them to finally take the plunge and go after what they truly wants rather than staying in their normal lives and continue doing what they were demanded of.
For a relationship that the fandom (and possibly even the show itself too) really try to push as only being that of siblings or familial love, Luz and Hunter sure do have a fuck ton of natural romantic coding, down to the parallels with Caleb & Evelyn (aka the true power couple of The Owl House as they're pretty much the entire reason for present-day story happening) to their witty yet childish banter and arguments, to their literal enemies-to-friends-to-something-more set up, and their overall organic chemistry and fun and intriguing ways they play off of each other and ALSO their relationship's narrative relevance that actively moves the plot forward and heavily impacts it—
Yeah, suffice it to say, while I definitely understand and respect those who just see Hunter and Luz as siblings or just good friends or just overall prefer them in different relationships, I just can't get over the gold mine of romantic potential these two have, regardless of what the Owl House crew were planning their relationship to be like from the very beginning.
And honestly, if they truly did always intend for Hunter and Luz to have something more akin to a sibling relationship than anything remotely romantic, all I can say to that is: LMAO. Cause like, bro, if you really wanted that to be the case, you kinda accidentally fucked up and gave them way too many parallels and similarities to the most romantic relationship in all of the show. Just sayin'. 🤣🤣

Hunter x Hunter ships I personally don’t like
These are ships that are NOT supported on my page.
Edit: I have left my hater era… while I do not like these ships myself I won’t shame you for liking the legal ones. I am no longer present in ship discourse. I do not like these but I won’t stop others from enjoying them…. With that said please enjoy the LONG ass read.
Please note a couple things before reading.
1, I do not hate any ships for being WLW, MLM or NL (hetero) unless it’s the result of representation erasure (An example of this is in the Owl House Community. People ship Lunter and say that it’s ok because Luz is a canon Bisexual but it’s still WLW relationship erasure!!! I do not support Lunter btw…)
2, I’m gonna mention stuff like proshipping and toxic relationships so please be warned if you’re triggered by those types of things do not read under the cut
3, I’m also gonna talk about ships I lovehate due to having extremely mixed opinions.
Alright that’s all!! Enjoy your reading and please remember to respect my opinions and interpretations of the characters. This will also include spoilers for the entire animated series.
Killunary (Killua x Canary)
Tumblr media
There are a couple reasons why I don’t like this ship but it’s mostly because of the power imbalance. Certain employee x employer ships just don’t work due to extreme power imbalance. The main example of this is the Zoldyck family and their abusive nature towards all the butlers, including how Kikyo treats Canary when she got close to Killua.
The other reason is because I see Killua as a heavily MLM coded character. And I’m sorry if you don’t agree but based on both his canon and non-canon interactions with the various women of the story, I don’t think he’s straight. I personally think he might be gay/vincian but it’s up to interpretation!! I cannot see Killua dating a girl. (This includes ships like KilluRetz and Killumane)
Hisomachi (Hisoka x Machi)
Tumblr media
Again, Hisoka is a heavily MLM coded character with Machi being the only woman in the series he’s shown possibly romantic interest in. Hisoka himself is an extremely harmful stereotype of a gay man being overly flamboyant but also predatory towards kids and women. That is a stereotype that is shown and pushed VERY often with Hisoka. (If you do view Machi as WLW, which I do, she’s also a harmful stereotype of the mean, man hating, lesbian./lh)
Also the fact that Machi straight up rejected his dinner offer in the Heaven’s Arena Arc should be enough to push the fact that she doesn’t like him…
Edit: while Hisoka is MLM coded I personally see him as a pan man due to some random factors and just cuz I like it that way
Kuroneon (Chrollo/Kuroro x Neon)
Tumblr media
Ok I only have like one reason but I feel like it’s validated tbh!!! He literally attacked her and stole her ability. And I don’t wanna go on a whole rant about Neon and her complexities rn but her nen ability, lovely ghostwriter, was essentially the only reason for her father to love her and care the way he did…
Also their age difference urks me ALOT cuz Neon is about the same age as Kurapika (17-19) and Chrollo is pushin 30… T-T
Kurokura (Chrollo/Kuroro x Kurapika)
Tumblr media
A lot of people ship them because “lol omg enemies to lovers!!” But like. This isn’t that kind of enemies to lovers hun… :// Chrollo and the troupe literally massacred the Kurta Clan with zero mercy and left Kurapika alone and almost defenseless in an unfamiliar world. He destroyed everything Kurapika had. That’s not something Kurapika would or will forgive easily. Kurapika is literally destroying himself inside out because of what the troupe did to the Kurta Clan. This ship is just ugh it’s so toxic I hate >:(
Also again, even if Chrollo didn’t destroy the Kurta Clan, age difference. Kurapika’s the same age as Neon (17-19) and Chrollo is PUSHING 30!!!!! Icky!!!
Tbh this goes for any of the Troupe x Kurapika… gross age difference and disgusting enemies to lovers dynamic.
Pitokai (Neferpitou x Kite/Kaito)
Tumblr media
One of my biggest icks ever is Victim x Killer because like how would YOU feel if you were violently murdered for seemingly no reason and then find out that there are people out there who think you and your killer would be cute if you dated O.O
Yeah it’s like… really toxic. I don’t have the energy to go into all the details of it but Killer x Victim has no reason to be as popular as it is…
Wisky (Wing x Bisky)
Tumblr media
(I couldn’t find any GIFs of them from the movie so you get this still image)
Teacher x Student dynamics really ick me as well… in most but not all cases the teacher is somewhat of a parental figure and the student is very young, in most cases a minor!!! We don’t exactly know if Wing was a kid when Bisky taught him nen since she refers to most people younger then as kids but the idea that she was extremely influential in his earlier years and has that older adult figure role in his life makes the idea of shipping them just.. it makes my skin crawl tbh ^^|||
Also there’s a HUGE age difference with Bisky being 57 and Wing being in his early 20s.
Gingkite (Ging x Kite/Kaito)
Tumblr media
Again w the teacher x student guys… the same reasons as with Wisky expect we know for a fact that Ging met and started training Kite when he was a teenager! Makes this extra icky.
Again with the age difference! Ging is in his 30s I think maybe 40s? And Kite is in his early 20s. Pretty big age gap!!!
Any incestous Zoldyck ships
Tumblr media
The fact that I even have to state this… dude… c’mon…. Incest is NOT cool chat!!
Any ships between the siblings? DISGUSTING!!
Between the kids and the parents? GRODY!!
Between Zeno and his grandkids? OUTRAGEOUS!!
This isn’t even just limited to the Zoldyck family dude… Mito x Ging is a thing apparently…
Any Child x Adult
Tumblr media
Again… why do I need to state this… shipping adults x children is WEIRD!!! And NOT OK!!!
Hisoka x Gon? GROSS!!
Killua x Illumi? DOUBLE GROSS!! INCEST IS ALSO NOT OK.
Killua x Machi? STILL GROSS!!!!
Please if you ship canon children with adults… please… just get off my page :^
Merupouf (Meruem x Shaiapouf)
Tumblr media
Gonna be so fr w you guys… I used to ship this… i thought they were funny :’) I’VE RECOVERED DW!!! (/lh)
Uh yeah so the power dynamic is really erm!!! /neg I genuinely cannot go into detail about how toxic they are but I’ll try to summarize… Pouf has like a perfected version of Meruem in his head as the king but when Meruem starts to change for the better he rejects it and thinks he knows what’s best for the king and shit!!! Also Meruem treats his Royal guards like shit (at the beginning) their relationship gets only slightly better towards the end but it’s still abusive!!!
Also my friend pointed out that the Royal guards exist solely for Meruem. Like they are Meruem and Meruem only. Everything is for him and that adds like a super fucked up dynamic to this ship…
Also forgot to mention earlier, ANTCEST. All the chimera ants came from the same mom so shipping them is really weird even if they don’t all see eachother as siblings
Ok so that’s all I can think of rn… please try to understand that this is MY interpretation and perception of these characters. It is ok if this is not how you see these characters, but it is how I see them.

Personally not a fan of Lunter. I like their platonic older brother, younger sister dynamic (also, Luz and Amity are too perfect for each other lol). That’s just my opinion tho.
And you’re perfectly valid to have that opinion!

as much as it pains me to say this as a canon lumity shipper, i think it needs to be acknowledged that their love making it to the timeskip epilogue with the same dynamic still intact is just probably not all that realistic. don't start with the "it's a show about magic and demons, it's not supposed to be!" since y'all know good and well that although the setting isn't realistic, the interactions and relationships between characters definitely are.
one of the main things they're praised for is being a cute and casual pairing that's soft rather than angsty (which is... not accurate in the latter half of the show, but i digress as that's not the point). the problem is that's not enough to make them long-lasting. even without the communication issues they experience, they're really nothing more than teenage crushes, which aren't supposed to be super serious during that stage of life, and that's okay; not to mention normal!
i speak from experience, although i am aware that i am only an individual. i am demiromantic, among other labels on the spectrum, and quite a sentimental person who has had intense crushes on both boys + girls that never lasted more than a few months at a time, so as much as i adore lumity and always have i've just never personally been able to grasp at how luz and amity fall for each other so fast when their chemistry isn't deeply developed enough yet ─ at least, in my opinion.
lunter, on the other hand...
i don't think i could write an essay that would do them justice in terms of how well they work with each other. plenty of blogs on here have done that already. everything from their bond over shared trauma & guilt to the caleb & evelyn parallels... the point is it runs deep. they have a mutual, intimate understanding.
i'm not going to claim lunter should've, could've, or would've necessarily lasted years as a couple together, but i do think they have more in common than... a special interest in a book/movie series and sport which is valid on its own, but again, not enough to keep them from naturally drifting off eventually.

❄️ Shipping Plance, Romance, Hance, Klance or/and Lancelot (and more ships) is as valid as shipping Allurance.
Every one of these ships is valid, so please, stop fighting for them. Life is so short to live it fighting over a ship. There are things more important than shipping a couple in a fictional story. So if you don't like a ship, don't criticize it. Just ignore it. Let people ship it if they want and don't fight for it. It's not worth it.

Personally I find the chemistry between Luz and Hunter obvious and if the show was created even 5-10 years ago no one would have much of a problem with Hunter and Luz shippers. It would’ve been what everyone expected to be endgame. Sure, I love lumity, it’s a cute sapphic high school romance. But narratively, there’s a case to be made for lunter while lumity is more just to be cute. Plus Luz is bisexual so any argument about erasing her sexuality doesn’t make sense. Plus it’s not like fandom is on the same level as the actual tv show like if a group of people want to imagine Luz and Hunter dating that does absolutely nothing to take away from the canon sapphic romance! I don’t have anywhere I feel like I can express this without getting literalky DOGPILED by Twitter teenagers who think the end all be all of queer liberation is making cartoon teenagers kiss.
I somewhat heard that type of rant that I've been interested to discuss before.. But I think it's better if Hunter has been introduced first than Amity tho. To make Hunter as a Male Lead. Yet the romance plot of TOH didn't go on that route. Because (ugh, another straight couple in Disney)
Unfortunately, everything has been already set by arranging Willow and Hunter as a pair instead Hunter is compatible to be paired with Luz because, Luz is with Amity now and both had feelings for each other before Hunter came. So I can understand what they're trying to defend the sapphic canon ship because THEY NEED LGBTQA+ REP, so if there is a straight couple in their favorite cartoon/show, the fans will gone RIOT and they will forced to make the straight couple to stay friends or platonic then shove it to everyone's throats. But their annoyance of not wanting Luz (who is a CANON BI) had a chance to NON CANONICALLY be together with a GUY who has 10x potential chemistry than Lumity. (I also love Lumity too from enemies to friends to lovers). The thing is, Willow shows to become the heroine for Hunter yet still GoldenLuz/Lunter scenes has more sparks even tho they're jumping to make a side couple (Huntlow) alongside with Raine and Eda (Raeda).
And the biggest and shittiest agenda they've got in the TOH fandom is to make these two characters (Luz and Hunter) as sibling-coded into their dynamic which is a HEADCANON. But FOR THEM IT'S A FACT because of the quarrel, all that banter and starting to helping and protecting each other away from danger/harm. And yet they theorize that when we look at Lunter, it's like there are both young Philip and Caleb.
So the issue of Lunter is because the TOH fandom can easily took it down or banish the ideas and options about Luz and Hunter to become a non-canon ship especially boy x girl ships in general media where the main protagonist is a BISEXUAL/GAY/LESBIAN or part of the LGBT rep. Some of them are a bit oversensitive by the "non-canon" ships might be ruined their canon gay/sapphic ship. Like only you can ship this MC with their same gender and NOTHING ELSE. I tried to keep away from the shipping discourse because the majority wants Lunter to see as siblings, and then they will despise somebody in every fiber of their being who ships Luz and Hunter where they are both BI for each other. Like who are they to have a right to demand a person who just wanna ship without their validation? Toxic TOH fans ain't had a right to accuse somebody because they LIKE a ship that they DON'T like. Yet also the Lunter shippers didn't wish for Lunter to be canon as well. Because they can ship them without a problem canon or not-canon as long as they don't attack nor cause such any harm to others. Yet these antis has so many claims to prove that their ship Lunter is wrong and there's nothing to support of shipping them romantically. So they will non-stop accusing Lunter shippers based on their ship which i migt turned out to become 'problematic' by many.
Luz and her bisexuality is the purest rep where she likes and attracted to guys and girls. Yet when they keep telling to such people that it will erase her sapphic love between her and Amity if Luz is going to be with Hunter in the long run.. That doesn't mean Luz isn't Bisexual anymore. How can these people pushing the hatred towards Lunter where they haven't heard the word "multishipping?" So every shipper has options which good ships to be shipped with this character. They never acknowledged poly ships too so, it's too late to speak up to toxic anti Lunters out there. Stubborn as hell lol. As a Bisexual, people must understand that they cannot ruined their Bisexuality by liking or dating a guy!

i really don't know why people always assume that i hate l/umity or that i'm a lesbophobe for shipping lunter. because i love both l/umity AND lunter, not to mention both luz and hunter are bi (but even that is not a valid reason to some people).
and like, even if some lunter fans dislike lumity, i don't think it's bc they don't like wlw pairings. maybe there are a few shippers who think that way, but at least on tumblr some folks have valid reasons (mostly writing issues). but no one is taking away the representation here. lunter is not even a widely beloved ship, so ppl rlly don't need to feel threatened by it. toh is over and l/umity is canon.
so please stop being assholes just because i want to write silly fics or draw silly art for lunter. i am literally in my corner minding my own business.

i came across your account and i notice the takes about the ship, but as a bi latine myself, shipping luz and hunter is NOT problematic at all. them being siblings is not canon and pittwins is just a popular headcanon and it does not mean you have to force that headcanon to everyone. i know what luz meant during that scene bc it’s so common in latine culture to call someone family that isn’t related. a lot of black and latine fans spoke up about this and majority of you just silence us and also keep in mind, the show is literally about found family!!!! you know which sibling is canon?? luz and king bc king literally called luz his sister on screen (king’s tide) and see her both as a friend and a sibling, but i don’t see many of you talk about that (and it’s ridiculous that titanlights (duo name for luz and king) is not even much talked about when they both are the main characters and have actual sibling dynamic). “ppl try to make luz and hunter straight” “shipping a bi girl character with a guy makes it alot harder to confirm them as bi” that is so biphobic to say and i saw your other comment that you aren’t bisexual so what do you know what makes it harder for us? you know what makes it harder to be bi? erasing our sexuality and always have to prove our identity by dating the same gender. we deal with internalized biphobia to prove our sexuality when sexuality is about attraction and not your dating history. we don’t have to date the same gender to prove to be bi. ppl are just erasing luz and hunter bisexuality (even eda) and that does not surprised me by how biphobic the fandom is, a lot of you don’t acknowledge bisexuality at all. also, it would not be “sapphic erasure” when luz herself is sapphic bc she’s bisexual, we are still sapphic when dating men or other genders. you’re the one doing that sapphic erasure by erasing and not acknowledging luz bisexuality. luz was also liking guys in the show, she was blushing on edric and even flirting with nevareth, are you going to say that’s “sapphic erasure” too?? 😭 i really need ppl who are not bi, black and latine to not silence us and speak over us, bc it’s tiring by how many times we have to say about this. bisexuality isn’t to be used as an aesthetic or something, it’s a label. im not even a lunter/huntceda shipper, im a big lumity shipper but as a bisexual latine, im so tired with the biphobia. lumity is canon in the show, huntceda or any other ship is not going to take that away. ppl have no problem with shipping luz with other girls (ex: willow) but when it’s with guys, it’s a problem. in fact, it makes me feel valid to see ppl acknowledge bisexuality and shipping her with other genders (that is not problematic ship of course). it’s also an experience of mine i had as a child when i ship characters with other genders and helped me discover my sexuality and feel comfort and valid.

I know I've talked abt this to death, but I still can't get over how Lumity and Huntlow shippers tried to claim Caleb and Evelyn as their own.
Even though Hunter is literally a clone of Caleb and he has the same exact character arc Caleb had. And Willow doesn't fill in the role of "a witch from another world who lured Philip's brother away from him" like Luz does.
I will never quite get over what Huntlows and Lumitys tried to do, because it is the most audacious example of biphobia I've ever seen in a fandom space.
People know on some level, Luz likes princes - it's something that is brought up twice. Luz goes on a quest with a prince and she writes a story where her self-insert kisses a prince. And they're also aware that Luz and Hunter fit the roles of Caleb and Evelyn to a tee. But something in them just can't handle it - the possibility of a bisexual woman writing a story where the bisexual girl has undeniable romantic subtext with a boy is disgusting to them.
Luz is bisexual, but she can't actually be bisexual because most people in LGBTQ+ spaces don't view bisexuality as a legitimate sexuality. People legit see Luz breaking up with her girlfriend to date a boy as an example of homophobia and the writers wanting "to turn her straight." Luz's bisexuality is only valid if she dates girls and is still dating a girl by the time the story ends. Basically bisexuality is only valid if the bisexual "chooses to be gay" because if they don't, then they were always ''straight'' and should be casted out from their own community. It doesn't matter that Hunter is bisexual and that m/f pairings between two bisexuals are non existent in media. Because Hunter and Luz would "look straight" if they started to date, it renders this important and vital bisexual representation as "straight representation." Because for some reason, people have it in their heads that straight people can relate to the bisexual experience and vice versa.
But yeah, the kneejerk fear and hatred that the Caleb/Evelyn = Lunter parallels invoke in people would be funny if it wasn't downright biphobic lol

oh, hey, while i'm talking about Lunter, here's something that i just realized on one of my several rewatches of Thanks to Them that keeps me up at night:
For their Halloween costumes, Luz is dressed as Azura from the Good Witch Azura series, and for Hunter, he's dressed as Chief Engineer O'Bailey from the Cosmic Frontier series.
Tumblr media
(It's also super cute that they both based their costumes off of characters from book series' that they like, I just realized that they have that in common.)
But onto my main point:
Earlier in the episode, they present Hunter as intending on going out into the average, everyday human world dressed in that costume, because after reading Cosmic Frontier, it's basically the only concept of "human male fashion" that he knows. Of course it's neither up-to-date nor remotely realistic, but they emphasize that this is what Hunter considers a good human disguise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So. When you take that into consideration.
Luz and Hunter's Halloween costumes.
ARE A WITCH AND A HUMAN.
I swear to GOD if this show never intended on Luz and Hunter ever being romantically involved then WHY do they keep paralleling Caleb and Evelyn. Like it's so soulmates/destiny/reincarnated lovers that I cannot STAND IT anymore. 😭😭
And it especially gets me too that during the Haunted Hayride, we're constantly given Luz and Hunter's reactions to the story of the Brothers Wittebane.
Tumblr media
While yeah, sure, I know they're the only ones who actually know anything about the story and has any sort of importance to them at the time, but when they keep showing us Luz and Hunter between the reveal of Evelyn and how she "enticed" Caleb into joining her in the Boiling Isles? And with a depiction of Flapjack no less?? When Luz was the one who brought Flapjack and Hunter together in Hunting Palismen???

Like, view these two's relationship however you want, you're totally valid. But goddammit there is subtext here and it is driving me insane.

My fellow Lunter shippers, please don’t let people tell you you can’t ship them. They are mad that people are shipping Luz with someone that isn’t Amity. Luz is canonically Bi and shipping her with Hunter isn’t “homophobic”. And it sure as hell isn’t inc*st. If anything those antis are biphobic. Lunter is just as valid as Lumity and Huntlow is.

Since you’re done The Owl House: thoughts on the ‘proship Lunter?’
Okay before we start ANYTHING: While I am a loud pro-shipper (or whatever it is when I’m just like: SHIP WHAT YOU WANT IT’S ALL FUCKING FICTIONAL) Does this count as a Proship?! I mean, the one line ‘you’re family now’ could be seen as that but in the end, they’re not related. I posted about found family and how it doesn’t need to be in the nuclear terms of ‘siblings/parents’ and that if you call your partner family…
Yeah. It just makes me think of people getting grossed out when people go: yeah I made a new family with my husband/wife/partner cause ‘oh god they’re family and dating!’ And while that’s not true it certainly feels like it I’m not going to lie. (Yes I know I’m poking at the bear. I don’t care.)
Lunter as a ship has a lot of potential for a story arc and for parallels. It’s also kind of cute I won’t deny, in the way most ships of ‘serious and energetic are’ because Hunter is a fairly serious person who is allowed to grow softer and dorkier as he explores himself. And I personally still believe he didn’t get put into season 1 because Disney would have forced it to be canon Vs Lumity and we’d have queer baiting claims. He should have been in season 1. But I won’t argue about how the show was set up cause of getting cut and a few other things.
Do I prefer Lumity? Yes. Lumity is adorable and I like ‘energetic and serious’ relationships so seeing a wlw couple like that is cute. But I will say Lunter isn’t bad. It’s a ship with potential.
In general though, I prefer the idea of the Hexside Squad (Luz, Willow, Amity, Hunter and Gus) in a QPR because you can’t fight off a tyrant, get stranded in the human realm and try to find your way back home without bonding on a deep level.
Some of the bonds are romantic, and some aren’t. I headcanon Gus is purely platonic with all of them but will always put them first. And the bonds between them will never break. They’re also all family and incredibly strong together.
Like I legit imagine them all living beside one another, kids running from house to house, no fences and just being themselves way into the future.
So as a short answer: Lunter is a valid ship, I prefer Lumity but they’re all QPR anyway so whatever.
