Ebenezer Scrooge captured the Phantasim of Sloth two years ago, and the title of Chainbreaker has only brought the weight of more burdens to be rested upon him.

Now more experienced and knowledgeable in the ways of the afterlife. Scrooge must learn to navigate his own heart and the hearts of others to bring forth the equality that has been sorely lacking... all while dealing with his own search for answers he yearned for so, so long ago.

But will he like what he sees? None can say...

If one were to ask, ‘twould be the summer of 1856. A remarkable time for one in the passing realm of mortality. The Black Sea had become detached, retained by none but the grasp of Mother Nature itself. Livingstone’s odyssey across the African continent was soon to come to an end, and with it a treasure trove of knowledge and insights. Ever loyal and ever victorious soldiers returned home from a gruesome war to receive valorous crosses of the highest honor ever bestowed.

The world continued upon its merry pace, changing and growing. Wanting of nothing and ignorant of everything. Ceaseless in humanity’s endeavours to push themselves further and further into their inevitable end.

Yet when the light of innovation illuminates the brightest corners of civilisation, so too can it cast the darkest shadows of consequence. And when that light fades, those selfsame shadows grow and change like cursed troglodytes that morphed into harbingers of doom. It is in these shadows that new horrors emerge, unforeseen and unbidden, born from the seeds of progress sown with the best intentions.

You need not know the names of these Avaritions, and I shall elect not to speak further upon them. It is not that they are unimportant, mind! Anyone can gain the capacity to be a protagonist in their own tale. Nay, I do not speak their name because if I shall, they would detract from their true purpose as mere fodder for the narrative I wish to tell. Is it most definitely unfair to them? Most likely. But does an audience care for Sampson and Gregory of the Capulets? Or Abraham and Balthasar of the Montagues? Of course not, for they only wish to gaze upon with eagle eyes the tragic fate of their star-crossed heroes. If they were to even be called heroes, in that regard.

Perhaps they were to steal from an unsuspecting and feeble old woman. Perhaps they were to vandalise the sacred walls of a holy temple. Or perhaps they were just two fettered spirits going about on their business without a care in the world, their untoward misdeeds nothing but mere happenstance, a fluke of a crime that was still a crime.

Regardless of the reasons, it mattered not what they had perpetrated, for they had disrupted the normal flow of the realms and risked the safety of mortals. And unwarranted actions required warranted consequences.

"Forgive me, good sirs..."

He spoke with a calm cadence towards them, undisturbed like that of a gentle pond even as he tilted his top hat up with a gloved hand to reveal his oceanic gaze aged by time. He did not waver even when they fought back with the rage of flames unforgiving, or the sting of ice unfeeling. His spear gleamed with a golden glow even amidst the dark of the alley, and the chains that shot from behind him — emitting a resplendent brilliance all of its own — splayed out like the wings of a mighty dragon, or the tentacles of some unholy beast.

Whatever the image the Avaritions must have thought of when they looked upon him with their feeble and fearful imaginations, it did not matter; their fate would remain the same when one gains the attention of the Chainbreaker.

"...but I fear I must take you in for the sake of my clientele. I do hope you'll understand."

1) do you have a bess/ebeness playlist? bc sometimes i think of them when i listen to certain songs and i’m like “oh man this would go so well on a playlist for them” (ahem. “howl” by florence + the machine)

Ahoy again! Welcome back to my little Scroogey corner!

I don't technically have a playlist just for them (yet), but I do have a playlist for my Scroogeverse in general, and, admittedly, a lot of the music in it is very much Ebeness vibes. You can listen here if interested. And now I need to go add that song to the playlist as well as my general playlist. Also, can I just say how genuinely touched I am to hear that you think about my Wolves? I often feel that my head is the only one they take up space in (apart from @rom-e-o, but that's because we've twined our worlds together bia Sims). So it's so nice to hear they're living rent-free in some other people's heads, too.

Pretend-argue? No. It's an actual argument. Not one that'll cause any sort of great marital strife, but it's a legitimate--if small--argument. They do this a lot concerning British and American cultural differences, and Bess usually starts it just for shits and giggles. She's something of a little instigator and likes to get her beloved Brits all riled up and heated on occasion. Especially Eb, because it typically ends up with some breathtaking sexy time with him being rather dominant in the sack. She loves to be dominated by him--gently and conscientiously, of course. He's quite skilled.

okay i am so sorry in advance for like All Of This but youve activated the Special Interest Neurons and i gotta say. i lowkey want your d&d AU ebenezer (werewolf rogue) and my d&d AU ebenezer (dragon disguising himself as a human) to interact somehow. i can’t get the mental image out of my head of both of them wondering “how long will it take for him to realize that there’s something Off about me” about the other. again i am SO SORRY i know this is a very silly idea but it got into my head and it won’t leave :D👍

Ooh! A human-formed dragon is a perfect fit Eb what with the hoarding riches and what not. 🤣. Love that idea. And please don't ever apologize about sending asks--I love to read them and think about the questions/theories/facts the pose. Especially when they're concerning my favorite old miser.😅

As for how they could potentially meet? Simplest way would probably be a spell going wrong. Some magic wielder from one of their groups reaches across dimensions for some reason or other and the Ebenezer accidentally gets pulled through. Then, as if having to deal with the fact that "there's another me" isn't bad enough, they also have to worry about the other them finding out their... oddities. They both probably think the other one seems so perfectly normal (and, in at least my Eb's case, he has a loving, devoted mate either currently by his side or back in his own world who is undoubtedly fighting to find him and bring him back home) and feel inferior because of it. If there's one other person who should be at least accepting of you, it should be yourself. But how can a "normal" you, who seems to have everything you could ever hope for, possibly be okay with you being a hidden dragon or cursed monster? "He's succeeded where I've failed. He's doing well while I'm struggling."

And then something happens that causes them to reveal their natures to each other and they probably both think the other's situation is fascinating.🤣. Wolf Eb is wondering how the bloody hell Dragon Eb can be so huge in true form yet can become so small for his disguise. Dragon Eb is wondering how the lycanthropy works because he was under the impression werewolves could only turn during the full moon. He's also curious if Wolf Eb can use his werewolf abilities as a human or if more wolfish qualities carry over into his human form. Yes, Wolf can and yes, they do. And some of them make it damn near impossible to get anything productive done whenever Bess is randy or ovulating.

Which version? 😂 We have her Sea Beast version and her crossing-over-into-Scrooge-Sims version. I'm still kinda translating her into a "modern" context for Sims.

In both, she and Jacob Holland are friends with benefits who are secretly in love. But neither of them admits it to the other because they don't believe the other wants more. In the more modern context, Gal owns a little seafood centric cafe on the London riverfront and co-owns a pub right next door in the same building with Jacob. Still working on the names for the places--trying to decide what references would be better. (It's between 'The Red Bluster' and 'The Brickleback' for the pub and 'The Sea Feast' (because pun) or 'The Inevitable' for the cafe. OR their names could go together with the pub being called 'Rum' and the cafe 'Pepper' in reference to 'Rum Pepper Island' frequently mentioned in the film.) Whatever the names, the places are located on Dregmorr Street.

In the context of 'The Sea Beast' proper, while she's primarily a cook, she's a helluva hunter. She can wield a blade as well as her father and is typically with the archers during battles with beasts. She can outswim Jacob. She wishes to inherit the Inevitable and become Captain, but knows she won't as her father favors Jacob over her and Jacob is actually a leader and a better hunter overall. She tries not to let that disappoint her, but it does. It probably goes without saying, she and her father have a complicated relationship.

Gal can also play the concertina like nobody's business and has a voice that would make the sirens envious. She's very much a tomboy and can't stand dresses, skirts, or most anything very feminine, though she's fine with people who do like that stuff. Contrarily though, she loves pastel colors, and pink. She also doesn't shave or wax (in either film or Sims) and instead opts to just keep herself tidy and clean. But all her body hair is quite light and fine so it's really not a noticeable issue to others.

She's afraid of jellyfish, octopus, squids, and spiders (which are just hairy, land-based versions of octopus and squid) as "nothin' 'bout them be natural-like". As such, tentacles kind of give her the heebie-jeebies, but she can handle them on a beast, even though she will have nightmares after such a fight. Even sea anemones make her feel a little... squirmy if she thinks about them long enough. Oysters give her terrible heartburn, but she'll gladly scarf them anyway and resign herself to live on antacids the next day. She loves to watch the sun set on the water, especially when Jacob joins her.

My theory for writing is, it doesn't matter if anyone else wants it or not, if you want the story, write it for you. That's literally what I've done with ALL of my fanfictions.🤣 Was never able to find stories that scratched me just right, so I went and wrote ones that did all on my own. To... varying degrees of competency and I'm going back and reworking most now, but that's the breaks when you start writing fanfic at 12.😅

But I digress. So you go and write that story! Write it for you! It'll find its audience, no matter how niche, somehow.☺️

(HI IM ON DESKTOP SORRY I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED THE FOLLOWING BUTTON IT'S FIXED NOW THO I HOPE I DIDNT FREAK YOU OUT) okay but. thinking about the way dragons age. dragon!eb is prolly upwards of, like, a hundred years old... it doesn't show the way it would on a human, of course, but just. thinking about how he's been set in his ways for almost a century. and how, at the same time, he's been restraining himself and/or feeling that loneliness for over a century!

Considering how dragons age and how Eb looks in his 50s, I'd almost think 100 years is still way too young, honestly. But the older he is, the lonelier he is and the harder Bess is gonna try to get him with his special someone.😅 She's probably even going to recruit Wolf's assistance.
