I just want to be unapologetically myself. Im unapologetically proud of my culture and where I'm from. I'm proud in being a solarpunk. I'm fiercely unapologetic in being happy and proud about my asexuality, sex-replusion, and other parts of my queerness. I'm proud to be a witch who learns things slow. Im accepting questioning and seeking help for my autism. I'm accepting of myself and whatever mistakes I have made or will make. I'm proud and happy and grateful to be a living human being who has slowly started to live for themself and accept herself as they are.
That name has almost no meaning anymore. India is all people talk of today. Indian developments, indian food, indian culture.
But when will we realize that by giving so much respect to India, we forget its true origins? India isn't even the correct name.
India was only ever called so because of the British, due to the Indus river, which THEY NAMED. Bharat is the name that we gave ourselves, and it should be used. Whenever one says India, they reference the name given to us by the British, who brutally enslaved many of the people, and attempted to whitewash our culture.
I think something that most white people or people from well known cultures can never understand is how excited you can get from even the smallest crumb of representation in popular media or real life, because its so rare that a half second mention in popular media will have me giddy for the rest of the day
my roman empire is chota bheem, oggy and the cockroaches and little krishna.
one of my characters (taj) has a voice claim, which is the narrator from little krishna (the one that sounds like he graduated oxford with a degree in yappology).
other iconic shows include:
the original shaktimaan
the animated shaktimaan (i rewatched it and was surprised to see how dark it became)
motu patlu
roll no 21
does anyone else remember these two absolute classics?

I wanted to put this here on tumblr too. there were many famines during british rule since most of our land was being used to grow crops for the british raj. this meant most of the food and other resources kerala had were not being given to its people, and we suffered for it. it disturbs me to think that this history was so thoroughly wiped out that most people think kerala was one of the few places that was almost entirely unscathed during british rule.
also, I would not have looked into this history if someone had not pointed out a recent study claiming that the reason type-2 diabetes is so common in south and centra asia could be because of the famines during colonization. since my family has a history of type-2, it led to me finding out about this. I would never have known otherwise since most history sources don't mention kerala whenever they talk about famines in india.
