Wang Lin and Tywin Lannister
the parallels between wang lin and tywin lannister genuinely need to be studied. they're such similar characters, on the surface, but if you delve deeper into their characters you'll find a huge dissimilarity between them.
wang lin, despite all his glaring faults, genuinely loves his family. when a'wu came to visit him and left upon realising su'er and jinruo weren't there, he was very clearly devestated. when he and wang su were in the prison, he swore that they would have vengeance (and even though the union between huan mi and wang su was a catastrophic mistake, wang lin wed them together because he wanted wang su to be with a woman of his choice; something WL had been deprived of.) and, when jinruo died, anyone with working eyes could see the man was devestated (and even before that, he does genuinely love her. romantically, i still don't know, but his care for her was undeniable. that night where she demands the truth from him before his ancestors and he, knowing he cannot lie to her, admits he poisoned the emperor and even waits for her to kill him...he deffo feels something towards her.)
the thing that i have taken away from wang lin's character is this; it is evident that he loves his family, but he simply loves power more. he, like tywin, puts so much value on legacy- but unlike tywin (or maybe still alike depending on how you view the latter), WL believes that he is protecting his family by making all of these chess moves (which, to an extent, i understand. the emperor means to supress the wangs and of course wang lin, despite being his brother in law, cannot possibly stand by and watch that happen.)
another difference between tywin and wang lin is that whereas i feel confident calling WL a morally grey antagonist, tywin is a cold, calculating, loveless hardass™️ antagonist and graduated from Big Bad Guy University. that man only truly cared for joanna and i doubt he cared for anyone else. one could argue for his affections towards his children, but tywin didn't love or care for them at all in my opinion.
in regards to jaime, i think tywin loves what jaime represents and what he represents his the heir to casterly rock. his golden child. his future; his legacy. he loves what jaime could accomplish, what jaime could achieve; he loves what jaime could be (the future lord of casterly rock and warden of the west) but not what he is (an infatuated, impulsive kingsguard who has no desire to play the game). i think tywin's "favourite" child is most definitely cersei as she's the most accomplished out of all his children; the most powerful woman (and at times, most powerful person) in the seven kingdoms, mother to the future king and a lioness through and through. she definitely inherited tywin's traits the most, but her downfall is her madness (probably due to inbreeding or maybe she was bonked as a child idk) and, again, her recklessness and impulsivity are what disappoint tywin; cersei believes she can play the game, but she cannot. also, misogyny.
then there's tyrion. good god, where to begin. even though tywin is an intelligent man, he blames the death of his wife on tyrion who was an infant when his mother passed. he blames tyrion not because it was his fault (after all, it is logistically impossible for a newborn infant to kill a grown woman), but because he needs something to blame. for the most part, tywin is a logical man and only behaves illogically when he's emotional. his hatred of tyrion is a purely emotional one (though the man doesn't make himself any better by drinking and whoring so i'll give tywin some leeway there) and i think, to tywin, that tyrion is the antithesis of everything a lannister should be.
tywin only cares for his children when it suits him. he tries to get tyrion back from catelyn because if he doesn't, he will appear incompetent. he does the same with jaime for the same reasons (and because he needs his heir). he cares for cersei because it is in his best interest to do so, as she is the queen. if tywin truly loved his children, he would have clocked onto jaime/cersei's ways sooner. he would have found a way to quell cersei's madness and cruelty (or at least help her mask it better). hell, he would have remarried! tywin was only in his thirties when joanna died and i am positive of the fact that hundreds of lords and noblemen would have jumped at the chance for their daughters, sisters, nieces etc. to wed the lord paramount of the westerlands. if he truly wished to further his legacy, he should have just had more kids!
sorry, this has kinda devolved into me criticising tywin as an antagonist rather than comparing him to wang lin so compare i shall! tywin, firstly, is a terrible judge of character; the best example of this is him misjudging tyrion and thinking that the man wouldn't kill him for whatever fucking reason. in contrast, wang lin makes the astute observation (though it is moreso a jab at wang su than a compliment to his daughter) that she has a curiousity that could rival any man, or something along those lines. for the most part, wang lin is on the money for many characters in the story. the only person he misjudges is xiao qi, which he later admits.
a similarity between WL and TL is the fact that they both believe themselves to be acting in the best interests of their families (though i feel WL is a little bit more sincere, at least initially.) the reality of this, however, is that their goals are selfish and the only thing they seek to further/elevate is themselves. this, coupled with their hubris and the under-estimating of their enemies (who, arguably, needn't have been enemies in the first place), is what leads to their downfalls.
honestly, this was very disorganised and muddled and had no clear direction but i just needed to rant about how alike their characters are and for somebody - ANYBODY - to agree with/discuss this with me!

TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Oh No! Here Comes Trouble (2023, Taiwan)
Director, Writer & Creator: Lin Kuan Hui
Mini-review:
I don't know why I put off watching this for so long, cause it's really good. It includes so much stuff that I love: laugh-out-loud comedy, heartbreaking stories, supernatural elements and, most of all, a bunch of characters that burrow their way into your heart. The dynamic they share, specially between Yiyong and Guangyan, is incredibly fun. I feel like I could spend hours and hours watching them doing whatever together. And that's exactly what puts this drama miles ahead of other similarly supernatural-themed stories: the character writing is so damn good that you don't even care about the show's flaws, like the weak CGI. It certainly helps that the entire cast does a fantastic job, with Tseng Jing Hua giving a particularly unforgettable perfomance as the main character. Oh No! Here Comes Trouble is exactly what I needed right now, and I hope we get to see these characters again in the future.

Hey, I don’t know if you do fix prompts anymore, and you don’t have to do this one if you don’t want to, but I have a bit of a suggestion. I’ve read many S.C.I. Mystery fics where Zhan Yao is kidnapped and has to be saved by Bai Yutong, but what if the roles were reversed? What if Bai Yutong had to be saved by Zhan Yao? I can imagine it as him using his psychological skills and nearly going to the dark side. Idk just a suggestion. If you happen to know of any similar fics, please let me know.
Oh, I absolutely still do fic prompts! (I just haven't done them for a while because I was focusing on other wips). But I love this idea, I hope you enjoy it!
Bai Yutong was never late to work.  He was such a stickler for people being on time so for him to be late…everyone found it odd, especially Zhan Yao.         “Dr. Zhan, did Bai Sir not take you to work this morning?” Bai Chi asked, looking up at him with his signature big eyes.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “No, I took a cab.  He hasn’t been staying at my house recently” he replied.  All of the S.C.I. team looked at him with wide eyes.         “Did you and Bai Sir have a fight?” Ma Han asked.  Zhan Yao shook his head again.         “No, we did not have a fight” he replied before he looked at the clock.         ‘Mouse is seriously late…and he’s not an over sleeper’ he thought to himself as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, dialing a number before he placed his phone to his ear.  He waited for a few moments, but after four rings, he was sent to voicemail, causing him to frown and pull the phone away from his ear.         “He didn’t answer his phone?” he murmured, Wang Shao looking at him in concern.         “Do you think something happened to Bai Sir, Dr. Zhan?” he asked.  Zhan Yao was quiet before he shook his head.         “I don’t know” he replied, just as his phone rang, causing him to look at it before his eyes widened and he quickly answered it, placing it to his ear.         “Jie?” he answered.         “Xiao Yao…have you heard from my brother?” Bai Qingtang asked.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “No, I haven’t.  Why, is he not answering your calls?” he replied.         “We had lunch thing today and I called to confirm it with him, but he never answered.  Is he not at work?” Bai Qingtang inquired.         “No, he’s not here.  And he’s not answering my calls either” Zhan Yao stated.  Bai Qingtang was quiet before she hummed.         “I’m coming to get you.  Be outside your office in five” she ordered.  Zhan Yao’s eyes widened and before he could ask her why she was coming to get him, she hung up the call, causing him to look at his phone in confusion before he sighed.           “I’m going to step out for a while.  Continue working on the cases that we have so far…I’ll be back later” he declared, heading for the sliding glass doors.   ~*~*~*~*~*~ When Zhan Yao reached downstairs, Bai Qingtang was already waiting for him, so he quickly walked over to her car and got in the passenger seat as she looked over at him.         “Fasten your seatbelts” she ordered.  Zhan Yao frowned but did as he was told and fastened his seatbelt, just as Bai Qingtang stepped on the gas and sped out of the parking lot towards Bai Yutong’s apartment.   ~*~*~*~*~*~ When they reached Bai Yutong’s apartment, Bai Qingtang and Zhan Yao got out of the car before they walked over to the front door, Bai Qingtang banging on it.         “Bai Yutong!” she called out before she took a step back, waiting.  Normally, the door would have flew open at the sound of her voice but when the door didn’t open after thirty seconds, Bai Qingtang and Zhan Yao looked at each other in concern before Zhan Yao stepped forward and knocked.         “Bai Yutong?  Are you in there?” he called out.  When there was no response, Zhan Yao frowned before he reached for the doorknob and turned, just to see if it was unlocked, his eyes widening in surprise when the door clicked open.         “Jie…I hope you have you gun on you” he murmured before he slowly pushed the door open and stepped inside, reaching for the small pistol that Bai Yutong had given him.  He then pulled it out before he stepped inside, Bai Qingtang following behind him, her own gun in her hands.  They then slowly stepped into the apartment and looked around, only to find that it was completely trashed, with papers and pillows and books strewn everywhere.         “Good grief, what happened here?” Bai Qingtang whispered, she and Zhan Yao looking around in shock.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “It looks like they were searching for something…but what?” he murmured.  Bai Qingtang shook her head as well before she looked over at him.         “Do you think Yutong was…doing something on his own that he didn’t tell you about?” she asked.  Zhan Yao frowned.         “What?  No.  No, Bai Yutong wouldn’t—” he started before he paused and shook his head.         “—he wouldn’t hide a case from me” he murmured.  Bai Qingtang hummed before she put away her gun and began to look around the apartment, Zhan Yao doing the same.  They searched through the entire apartment, searching for any sign or reason for Bai Yutong’s disappearance, before Zhan Yao looked over at Bai Qingtang.         “Anything?” he asked.  Bai Qingtang shook her head.         “No…Yutong doesn’t normally bring work home” she replied.  Zhan Yao hummed and crossed his arms before he looked at her.         “I need you to take me to meet someone” he declared.  Bai Qingtang frowned.         “Who…are we meeting?” she asked.         “Zhao Jue” Zhan Yao replied.  Bai Qingtang’s eyes widened.         “You think he had something to do with Yutong’s disappearance?” she demanded.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “I don’t know…that’s what I’m going to go and find out” he declared.
~*~*~*~*~*~ When they arrived at Zhao Jue’s studio, Zhan Yao looked at Bai Qingtang.         “You just stay in the car.  I won’t be long” he stated before he turned and headed up the stairs to the studio, opening the door before stepping inside.         “ZHAO JUE!  COME DOWN HERE!” he roared.  When he didn’t hear a response, he growled under his breath.         “YOU BASTARD!  DON’T HIDE FROM ME, I KNOW YOU’RE HERE!” he shouted.           “Now, now, Xiao Yao, there’s no need to shout.  I’m coming, I’m coming” a soft and soothing voice replied, making Zhan Yao look up to see Zhao Jue slowly walking down his winding staircase.  As soon as he reached the bottom, Zhan Yao stormed over to him and grabbed him by the front of his robe, glaring at him.         “Where. Is. He?” he snarled.  Zhao Jue raised a calm eyebrow.         “Where is who, my boy?” he replied, only to have Zhan Yao shake him.         “Bai Yutong.  Where is he?  I know you had something to do with his disappearance” he snarled.  Zhao Jue looked at him in surprise.         “Your white tiger is missing?” he asked.  Zhan Yao snarled.         “Yes.  Now where is he?” he snarled.  Zhao Jue blinked before he shook his head.         “I can assure you, Xiao Yao, I had nothing to do with Bai Yutong” he stated, Zhan Yao shaking him again.         “Liar!  You always have something to do with us!  This time is no different!” he screamed.  Zhao Jue looked at him, and at his feral eyes, before he smiled and reached up, gently grasping Zhan Yao’s hands before he removed them from his clothes.         “Xiao Yao—” he started.         “Don’t call me that!” Zhan Yao screamed.  Zhao Jue nodded and held up his hands in a soothing and placating manner.         “Alright.  Dr. Zhan.  I did not take Bai Yutong.  I have no idea who did.  I assure you; I don’t know who did” he promised.  Zhan Yao narrowed his eyes at him before he huffed.           “I don’t believe you” he declared.  Zhao Jue smiled.         “That’s fine if you don’t, but I’m telling the truth.  I didn’t take him” he replied.  Zhan Yao said nothing before he turned and headed towards the door of the studio, only to pause and turn back to look at him.         “If I find out when I find him that you had something to do with his disappearance…I’m coming back here and I’m killing you myself” he warned.  Zhao Jue chuckled.         “I’d like to see you try, my boy” he replied.  Zhan Yao snarled before he turned and headed out of the studio, Zhao Jue watching him leave with a small smile and a soft hum.         ‘Yes, Zhan Yao…let out the beast’ he thought to himself. ~*~*~*~*~*~ After he left Zhao Jue’s studio, Zhan Yao headed back to Bai Qingtang’s car, Bai Qingtang raising an eyebrow at him as he got in.         “Well?” she asked.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “He said he didn’t take Bai Yutong, nor does he know who did” he replied.  Bai Qingtang groaned softly.         “Great, now we’re back to square one” she grumbled.  Zhan Yao was quiet before he looked over at her.         “Can you take me back to the office?  I want to check Bai Yutong’s office” he stated.  Bai Qingtang looked over at him and raised an eyebrow before she shrugged slightly and started the car, reversing out of the parking lot before she took off, heading back to the Hong Kong Police Department. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Back at the police department, Zhan Yao made his way up to the S.C.I. department and quickly stepped through the sliding doors before he made his way to Bai Yutong’s office, throwing open the door.         ‘They were clearly looking for something…and Bai Yutong hardly ever takes work home…what could they have been looking for?’ he wondered as he looked around the office, trying to find anything out of place when he noticed that there was a file haphazardly sticking out of the other files, causing him to frown.  Bai Yutong was such a neat freak and stickler for perfection that having the file stick out like that was completely out of character for him.         ‘What’s this?’ he wondered as he reached out, carefully grabbing the file before he looked at it.  It seemed to be a new case…but why hadn’t he brought it to the team?  He then turned and headed out of the office to the bullpen, holding up the file.         “Did Bai Yutong bring this case to anyone?  Did he bring up this case when I wasn’t here?” he asked.  Everyone on the team, save for Jiang Ling, looked at the file in confusion while Jiang Ling just avoided her eyes, causing Zhan Yao to frown.         “Jiang Ling.  What do you know?  Did Bai Yutong bring this case to you?” he demanded.  Jiang Ling looked at him before she nodded hesitantly.         “Y-Yes, Dr. Zhan” she murmured.  Zhan Yao shook his head incredulously.         “Then why didn’t you say anything?  Why didn’t Bai Yutong tell me about it?” he demanded.           “Because he told me to keep it a secret.  He said you couldn’t know about it or you’d get mad” Jiang Ling explained.  Zhan Yao shut his eyes and took a deep breath before he let out a low growl.         “The lecture I’m going to give him…” he murmured before he looked at her.         “Well?  What is this case about?  You might as well brief us on it” he declared.  Jiang Ling shook her head.         “Bai Sir didn’t tell me a lot about it…he just had me look up a person” she replied.  Zhan Yao frowned.         “Who?” he demanded.  Jiang Ling nodded and quickly pulled up a profile and a picture.           “Cheng Ka Sang” she replied.  Zhan Yao frowned as did the other S.C.I. members.         “Cheng Ka Sang?  Why does the name sound familiar?” Zhao Fu wondered, just as Zhan Yao’s eyes widened.         “Because he’s one of Hong Kong most notorious human traffickers.  Bai Yutong must be going after him” he breathed, just as Wang Shao shook his head.         “But Cheng Ka Sang is in prison” he argued.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “Doesn’t mean he’s not still running the show from prison” he replied before he looked over at Jiang Ling.         “Hack the prison records and figure out when Bai Yutong went to visit him” he ordered.  Ma Han’s eyes widened in shock.         “Dr. Zhan, we can’t just—” she started.         “Bai Yutong is missing!  I will find him, by any means necessary” Zhan Yao growled, shooting her a look before he looked back at Jiang Ling.         “Now.  Get me those log records” he snarled.  Jiang Ling nodded and soon her fingers were flying over the keys on her keyboard, the entrance log soon appearing on the screen.  Zhan Yao then took a step forward, scanning the log for Bai Yutong’s name before he found it.         “It says he visited the prison two days ago…and then the day after…I don’t recognize the name.  Do any of you?” he asked, turning to look at the others.  Zhao Fu then quickly stood to his feet and walked over to stand beside him, scanning the names before he found the name under Bai Yutong’s.         “Oh, that’s Cheng Ka Sang’s right hand man, Ho Jun Hin.  We’ve arrested him before” he explained.  Zhan Yao hummed and stared at the name before he looked at Zhao Fu.         “Bring him in” he ordered.  Zhao Fu looked at him in shock.         “For what?” he asked.  Zhan Yao hummed.         “Say he’s a person of interest in a missing person’s case that we’re working on and that we just want to ask him some questions…I’ll be the one doing the questioning, of course” he stated.  Zhao Fu looked at him before he nodded and looked over at Wang Shao.         “Come on, let’s go find the bastard” he declared.  Wang Shao nodded and stood to his feet, both men heading out of the room as Bai Chi, Ma Han, and Jiang Ling looked at Zhan Yao.         “Do you think we’re going to be able to find Bai Sir, Dr. Zhan?” Ma Han asked.  Zhan Yao was quiet before he nodded.         “Oh, we’ll find him.  Don’t worry” he replied, his voice weirdly soft and ominous.  Bai Chi, Ma Han, and Jiang Ling looked at each other in concern but they didn’t say anything…Zhan Yao seemed to know what he was doing so they were going to trust him. ~*~*~*~*~*~ A little while later, Zhao Fu and Wang Shao returned, making Zhan Yao look over at them.         “Well?” he demanded.  The two men nodded.         “He’s down in interrogation” they replied.  Zhan Yao nodded.         “Good” he murmured before he looked at the others.         “No one follow me.  Understand?” he ordered.  All of S.C.I. looked at him before they nodded.         “Yes sir” they replied.  Zhan Yao nodded again before he turned and headed out of the department to the interrogation room, everyone watching him leave before Bai Chi frown.         “He’s going to use hypnosis…isn’t he?” he asked.  The others nodded silently in reply causing Bai Chi to hum before they all turned back to their work; they trusted Zhan Yao to not go overboard. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Down in the interrogation room, Zhan Yao sat before Ho Jun Hin and looked at him calmly.         “Mr. Ho…I’m just going to cut to the chase: where’s Bai Yutong?” he inquired.  Ho Jun Hin looked at him before he chuckled softly.         “I’m afraid I don’t know who that is” he replied.  Zhan Yao narrowed his eyes before he pulled out his phone and held up a video of a swirling black and white circle.         “Tell me.  Where.  Is.  Bai. Yutong?” he growled.  Ho Jun Hin looked at the swirling circle and blinked a few times before he shook his head.         “I don’t…” he started, his voice starting to slur as he continued to stare at the swirling circle.         “I’ll ask you again…where.  is.  Bai.  Yutong?” Zhan Yao snarled.  Ho Jun Hin shut his eyes and shook his head, trying to resist Zhan Yao’s hypnosis technique, causing Zhan Yao to chuckle softly.         “Oh, don’t worry Mr. Ho…I have many more tricks up my sleeve to get you to talk” he purred darkly. ~*~*~*~*~*~ An hour or so later, Zhan Yao returned to the S.C.I. department, everyone looking over at him nervously.         “W-Were you able to get him to talk, Dr. Zhan?” Bai Chi asked.  Zhan Yao hummed.         “Yes” he replied before he turned and addressed the entire team.         “Get ready; we’re going to get Bai Yutong back” he declared.  Everyone nodded before they stood to their feet and saluted, three fingers over their hearts.         “Yes sir!” they replied.   ~*~*~*~*~*~ Meanwhile, in an abandoned warehouse, Bai Yutong found himself hanging from a metal hook, rope wrapped tightly around his wrists.  His shoulders were getting tired, he was pretty sure he had a bruised rib or two (make that five), and he knew for a damn fact that Zhan Yao was going to kill him.         “Well, well, well…look who we caught snooping around where he doesn’t belong” a voice sneered, making Bai Yutong look over to see one of Cheng Ka Sang’s many goons sneering at him.  Bai Yutong narrowed his eyes at him before he reached up and grasped at the ropes holding his wrists before he swung his body and kicked the man in the face, sending him crashing to the ground.         “Oops.  My bad” he replied, causing the man to glare up at him before he pointed at him.         “Break him open like a pinata” he ordered, a few other goons nodding before they walked over to him, metal poles and wooden bats in their hands.  At the sight of the weapons, Bai Yutong’s eyes widened and as they raised the weapons, he flinched, just as the warehouse doors burst open and Zhan Yao, as well as the rest of the S.C.I. team, stepped inside.         “Cat?” Bai Yutong whispered, his eyes wide in surprise, just as the head goon pointed to them.         “Take them out!” he roared.  The goons then rushed at Zhan Yao and the S.C.I. team, the S.C.I. team easily taking them down, and at the sight of his underlings going down, the head goon turned and looked at Bai Yutong before he smirked and picked up a nearby 2x4, swinging the piece of wood right at Bai Yutong’s ribs.  As the wood connected with his ribs, Bai Yutong let out a cry of pain, causing Zhan Yao to turn at the sound and when he saw the goon raising the piece of wood to hit Bai Yutong again, he swore he saw red as he began firing his gun, watching as one bullet after another embedded themselves in the goon’s body until he had no more bullets in his gun.  Once he was empty and the goon was dead (like dead dead), he walked over to Bai Yutong and looked up at him, Bai Yutong looking back at him with a soft smile.         “Cat” he whispered before his eyes fluttered and his head slumped forward as he promptly passed out.           “BAI YUTONG!” Zhan Yao screamed, his eyes wide before he looked over at the S.C.I. team.         “Wang Shao!  Zhao Fu!  Ma Han!” he called out, the three of them looking over at him before they ran over as Zhan Yao pointed to Bai Yutong.         “Get him down” he ordered.  Ma Han, Zhao Fu, and Wang Shao nodded before Wang Shao and Zhao Fu positioned themselves under Bai Yutong as Ma Han ran over to a nearby ladder and grabbed it, bringing it back over to Bai Yutong before she climbed up it and pulled out one of her many knives that she kept on her, using it to cut Bai Yutong down.  As soon as the ropes were cut, Bai Yutong fell like a limp doll into Wang Shao and Zhao Fu’s waiting arms, both men quickly stabilizing themselves so that they didn’t fall under the weight as Zhan Yao looked over at Bai Chi, only to find that he had his phone to his ear and was calling paramedics.         ‘Good boy’ he thought to himself before he looked back at Bai Yutong’s unconscious form and shook his head, sighing softly.         “Oh Yutong” he murmured. ~*~*~*~*~*~ When Bai Yutong woke up a few hours later, he found himself laying in a hospital bed, his ribs bandaged.  He frowned for a moment before he made to sit up, only to have a hand touch his shoulder.         “Don’t.  You need to rest” a soft voice murmured, making him look over to see Zhan Yao sitting beside his bed, a haggard look on his face.         “Cat” he whispered, Zhan Yao looking at him before he shook his head.         “Why would you hide that case from me?  From us?” he whispered.  Bai Yutong looked at him before he shook his head.         “I didn’t want you to get involved” he replied.         “You nearly DIED!” Zhan Yao screamed, Bai Yutong’s eyes widening in shock as Zhan Yao shook his head.         “Do you not understand how worried I was about you?  You didn’t answer any of my calls, your apartment was trashed when jie and I went to check on you…you can’t hide things like this from me, Bai Yutong” he croaked.  Bai Yutong looked at him for a moment before he reached up and cupped his face in his hand, gently caressing his cheek.         “I’m sorry Cat.  I didn’t mean to worry you…I just wanted to keep you safe from those creeps…I just didn’t expect them to come after me.  Just thinking about if it had been you who had been tied up instead of me—” he started before he shook his head.         “It hurts too much” he whispered.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “You don’t think it hurt me?  To see you up there like that?  To hear you scream like that?” he croaked.  Bai Yutong looked at him before he sighed softly.         “How did you even find me?” he asked, lowering his hand from his face.  Zhan Yao looked at him before he hummed.         “I did what I had to do” he replied.  Bai Yutong looked at him before he narrowed his eyes.         “You hypnotized someone, didn’t you?” he guessed.  Zhan Yao looked back at him before he huffed.         “So what if I did?” he replied.  Bai Yutong shook his head.         “Cat, you know how I feel about you using hypnosis…” he murmured when Zhan Yao looked him in the eye.         “And if I didn’t use it, you wouldn’t be lying here, alive, in a hospital bed, you be lying on a cold metal table in the hospital morgue, dead” he spat.  Bai Yutong was quiet before he sighed.         “I just…I don’t want you to become like Zhao Jue” he murmured.  Zhan Yao shook his head.         “I won’t.  Because I have you.  You won’t let me slip.  You promised me that” he whispered.  Bai Yutong huffed.         “So if you don’t have me?” he asked.  Zhan Yao smirked.         “Then I’ll become like what you saw today” he replied.  Bai Yutong hummed and thought back to how…cold and cruel Zhan Yao’s eyes looked as he filled that one goon with lead before he shuddered.         “Alright, I get the point…I’ll try not to get hurt again” he promised.  Zhan Yao nodded before he pointed to him.         “And don’t hide anything from me either.  We’re partners, we share everything” he declared.  Bai Yutong laughed softly and nodded before he scooted over and patted the space beside him.         “Like this bed?” he asked.  Zhan Yao’s eyes widened before he chuffed softly and nodded, carefully climbing into the bed, making sure to not hurt Bai Yutong before he snuggled close to him and tucked himself under Bai Yutong’s chin, Bai Yutong carefully draping an arm over his waist.           “Good night, Cat” he whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to Zhan Yao’s hair.  Zhan Yao smiled softly.         “Good night, Mouse” he replied, snuggling closer to him as they both drifted off to sleep.  Yes, Zhan Yao was a gentle and mild-mannered man until Bai Yutong kidnapped or hurt.  Then, and only then, would he release the dark beast from within.  Because no one hurt Bai Yutong.  No one.  Not on his watch.

Summary: Attempts are made. One by Wen Ruohan to tell his sons the truth. He tried, and therefore no one should critize him. The other, by Meng Yao to be a proper influencer who does live streams and interacts with his audience. He ends up with realization hitting him in the face.
Characters: Wen Ruohan, Wen Xu, Wen Chao, Meng Yao.
In which they both fail, both the results of the failures are very different lol. Basically you have an awkward family dinner, and MY playing himself by playing his character too hard :’D.

Drunken Monkey (2003)
My rating: 4/10
So I assume the piss poor translation in the subtitles didn't help, and there's probably some cultural nuance I'm missing, but even accounting for these things this was kind of a mess.
