Mack Drowns His Sorrows.
Mackron Fanfic.
"What you so happy about?" Nate asked Mack as he was frying bacon for breakfast and singing at the top of his voice. "Haven't seen you as happy as this in a long time"
"I saw Aaron in the Woolpack yesterday and for once he wasn't being horrible to me" Mack explained.
"How come?" asked Nate.
"Dunno but when I asked Chas to warm Isla's milk up Aaron did it, brought it over and fed her"
"It took me all my time not to grab him and snog the face off him" said Mack.
"Don't read too much into it Mack" said Nate "I don't want you to get hurt and what about this Craig?"
"Dunno haven't seen him for a bit" said Mack "I need an excuse to go to the scrapyard so I can see him again"
"You're acting like a lovesick schoolgirl" laughed Nate "There's an old car battery in the garage why don't you take that if you must go"
"Great" said Mack "Will you look after Isla?"
"If you insist" teased Nate.
Mack made his way to the scrap yard and knocked on the door.
"Er I'm looking for Aaron" said Mack as Craig answered the door.
"Come in" said Craig.
"I'd rather not" said Mack trying to hide his disappointment. "I've got an old car battery if Aaron wants it"
"Just leave it outside" said Craig shutting the door in Macks face.
Mack made his way to the Woolpack. "A bottle of whisky Chas please" said Mack.
"You're not drinking that in here and getting blotto and causing trouble" said Chas.
Mack went outside and sat at one of the pub benches. "Go steady with that Mack" said Leyla who was passing.
"Leyla you are beautiful" said Mack come and sit by me" Mack slurred..
"What and get molested by a drunk?" said Leyla "No thanks"
"I've never molested anyone in my life" said Mack "I just want a little bit of love"
"No thanks" said Leyla.
"Hey you" shouted Chloe "What do you think you're doing. You're supposed to have Reuben this afternoon"
"I'd rather have his hot mother first" said Mack.
"Ignore him Chloe" said Amy "He's pissed"
"Bear" shouted Mack as Bear walked towards him.
"A Bear hug would be nice" said Mack
"Well if I was that way inclined I would, you're a very Handsome chap" said Bear "Why not try Charity she's always trying to get you into bed"
"No thanks" said Mack "Not after she shagged Caleb"
"Who's using my name in vain" said Caleb walking past on his crutches with Nicky.
Mack was about to retaliate when he fell head first off the bench.
"Go and help Bear lift him up" said Caleb.
Bear and Nicky lifted Mack back on the bench.
"God you're handsome" said Mack grabbing Nicky and trying to snog him.
Tumblr media
"Go for it Nicky" laughed Caleb "He's loaded"
"Not everythings about money dad" said Nicky "And he's not my type" Nicky replied as Aaron came back from the scrap yard.
"What the hell are you doing?" yelled Aaron "You're pissed and making a show of yourself"
"Oh just fuck off back to Craig" shouted Mack as Aaron shrugged his shoulders in disbelief as Mack stretched out on the bench and went to sleep.

Lucio/Iolas - Wedding Proposal
(I really liked my long ass answer to the love ask about their proposal so i wanted to make it it’s own post that way y’all can ready it easier--)
The sun hung low in the sky as Lucio makes his way to the palace gardens. He has asked Iolas to meet him out by their favorite spot in the garden maze. the blonde smiles remembering how the two of them had found the hidden spot while goofing around and shoving each other into the hedges. It wasn't until one hard push sent Lucio through the hedge that he had found it. He fully expected to land on his ass but instead he found himself on the other side of a portal with Iolas calling for him from the other side.
Quickly Lucio ushered the other man through the portal and the two looked over a hidden meadow that seemed to be somewhere close to the center of the maze. Lucio could picture it perfectly; the stark white gazebo in the center, the perfect sun rays that sprinkled the fluffy grass and the willow tree with its small leaves that dripped and trickled. He fondly reminisced when the wind would blow and the tendrils of the willow would tickle up the wooden beams of the gazebo and scare Iolas into laughter every time the leaves would brush against his lover.
As Lucio draws closer to the portal he stops right before he enters and stares at the ring he had spent hours picking out. He had never fussed so much over a gift for someone. It was a first for him to worry about gift-giving, because anything he picked out was glamorous and simply perfect. This however wasn't just a gift.
It was a question.
Which meant it had to be perfect. Every time he would think he was close to choosing a ring he would look and see a flaw. A flaw that Iolas had the potential see. Which if he did meant the possibility of Lucio never getting to hear the answer he so desperately wants to the question He’s so nervous to ask.
So many times Lucio doubled back on himself about the proposal. Is this just too much? His mind would race. Could he see himself getting married again when his last marriage was such a failure? Then he would hear it. Iolas' laugh. Followed by the heart warming memories of the sunlight hitting the coffee skin of his lover. Afterwards every reservation burned away and was replaced with a deep desire to make this person his and only his.
Clinging to his new found confidence Lucio steels himself as he pockets the ring, almost dropping the bottle of champagne he forgets he was holding. As he pushes through the portal the blonde's heart skips a little at the sight of his lover resting on the side of the white gazebo. He’s wearing a white robe that Lucio had gotten commissioned to match his iconic white suit. The sight of it sets his heart running, he now knows the other dressed up just for him. As Lucio walks closer he can tell his lover seems to be lost in thought. He watched the other man’s crimson eyes gaze over the tree line, transfixed on something invisible as their thoughts dictate their face. It isn’t until Lucio steps closer and knocks on the wood with a playful tune that his lover acknowledges that the count has walked into the meadow. Lucio’s wolfish smile triggers a similar grin on his lover’s face.
"Hi, my Darling--" Iolas starts before pulling Lucio over by his collar to meet their lips together. With a giggle Iolas watches Lucio hop over the median of the gazebo instead of using the very close opening that's just a little be over to the side of them. Lucio tries to steady his face, but he can’t help that he’s excited. He doesn't want to come off too eager or nervous, but Lucio can tell his poker face failed as Iolas gives him a curious look. "What are you planning? I know that look."
Lucio however holds his hands up in defense after he places the bottle of champagne down on the railing in front of them. "Why do I always have to be up to something huh? Can't a man just meet his lover in a secret hole in the woods for some late-night drinking and maybe a little late-night macking?" the blonde throws the magician a wink, which is met with a playful smack that Lucio is all too found of.
"Did you bring glasses, Oh Count of Macking?" Iolas teases with a click of his tongue and to that Lucio's face freezes for a second. The easily distracted count did not think about the glass part of drinking, but his shock lasts for a split second before he nudges his lover with an elbow and a cheeky grin. "Can't you just magic something up for us--" Before Lucio can even finish Iolas throws his head back, his whole body shakes with a genuine laugh. One that Lucio only sees when Iolas reacts to his particular stupidity. "Absolutely not. I cannot manifest glassware, but fret not Lulu I prepared for this." The silver-haired man stands on the railing of the gazebo and reaches up behind one of the posts and brings down two champagne glasses. Lucio amused at this helps the shorter man down before taking both glasses and leaning down to give his lover a short kiss on the head.
Snickering to himself Lucio places the glasses down and pops open the champagne. "See? Who needs magic when you have a lover who has the spirit of a squirrel. Why are those even up there?" Iolas can't seem to hold back his laugher and starts into a long dialogue about how the last party they hosted he was tasked with disposing of all the drinks Lucio downed after getting into a drinking match with Julian. At some point he got too fed up hauling all the empty glass wear to and fro so he eventually gave up and used the portal which was much closer than the garbage. Soon as he finishes that story Lucio makes note that not only does he not remember this drinking contest at all, but he also notices that the whole upper layer of the Gazebo is littered with small drinking glasses of all shapes and sizes.
After the two of them laugh at the absurdity of the situation the couple dive into a comfortable speed of talking. Slowly they unravel the days events to each other, to which Lucio adds more flavor by introducing the drinks. The sun finally settles and the garden lights flicker on and thanks to all the glass wear in the gazebo small reflected lights scattered within their own space. Slowly the stories of their day dwindle and eventually, they huddle close to each other so they can look under the top of their gazebo and point out stars. Lucio watches the small warm lights bounce off his lover's face and his heart races. He can't chicken out now.
"Iolas." Lucio stops the silver-haired man mid-sentence as the other was going on about his zodiac sign and how it will be visible in the sky soon until he hears his name.
Iolas pauses fully, not use to hearing his full name exit his lover's lips unless it was during a more intimate and scandalous situation. So he hides his hesitation with a smile and he answers the blonde with the same tone he just used but exaggerated with a deeper tone to lighten the mood. "Lucio." The count starts to fidget but just laughs when Iolas mocks his serious tone. "No really, uh... Listen for a second." Iolas' face now turns from curious to worried. " Uh oh. that's a real serious tone. What did you do?" Lucio brushes him off, biting his lip and rubs the back of his neck. He feels so lame doing this, but that's the point.
Lucio stands up straight taking Iolas' hands, looking directly into those red eyes. For a second Lucio’s mind feels erased. It was as if looking into his lovers eyes reset every word he had planned out, but the ring sits heavy in his pocket. So he tried and opens his mouth only to close it so he can bring Iolas' cold fingers to his lips, unable to find his words just yet.
Iolas' however is completely taken aback. His lover has been romantic before but he was much more used to their back a forth of one-upping each other and superficial compliments they would glob onto each other. Their usual dynamic coupled with nightly flings where he ended up in the blonde's bed, made the sudden tenderness unsettling.
The magician could feel that dark feeling creep to his shoulders. The one that would say he shouldn't get his hopes up, that he's happy filling the count's time till he finds a real suitor. Even if Lucio was a temporary General at the palace he was still a completely different status then Iolas and Royals don't have court magician as suitors. So his hopes remained low but he was happy to bide his time with Lucio. However little it would be. Iolas had to admit even with the teasing and snarky remarks that sometimes get out of hand he loved and even craved the other man's company. Sadly, love doesn't change status. Love doesn't guarantee a happy ending. His a master when it comes to disappointment and had learned his lesson the hard way.
So It was the last thing Iolas' expected when the taller man pulls out the biggest ring the magician has ever seen and gets down on one knee. Iolas' first thought is to pinch himself so he can wake up. Then when air fills his lungs he realizes he’s awake and this is happening. More than happening, he's been silent for far too long. All he can hear is the stinging sound of his building anxiety attack banging around in his head. The buzz is deafening and He can see that Lucio is speaking but he can't hear him.
You will just disappoint him. Iolas' thoughts curse. Better yet he'll disappoint you. A shaky breath leaves him and all he can do is blink and look at Lucio with watery eyes. "I-- I'm sorry please can you say that again." Iolas stops and closes his eyes just so he doesn't have to look at the ring that's almost blinding with its meaning.
Lucio's normal wolfish grin falters but only returns once he hears Iolas speak. "I said. We should get hitched, ya know?" Lucio sputters, shit. "Look. Like I was saying we're surrounded by losers, Pet. Who else am I gonna get to match me other than you huh? come on, look at me—“ he gestures to his hair and outfit before continuing “Then look at you! we're perfect for each other.. ya know?" Lucio now looks nervous as he speaks. Unable to keep eye contact. “..and.. I love your laugh."
This seems to pull Iolas' from his anxiety a little even enough to get him to let out a weak laugh. "What? what does that have to do with anything?" Lucio pouts and glares at his lover just a tiny bit. "I love your laugh! and I don't want anyone else to have it. I deserve it, I get you to do it most and I think you owe me. So like.." Lucio ushers Iolas' to the ring, his legs are starting to buckle. "I wouldn't admit this to anyone else but my knees aren't what they use to be so can we--" Iolas stops him with a curt turn, his shoulders shaking.
The blonde stands at his lovers reaction his whole body rigid. This was it. The rejection he warned himself about. He's ruined everything, his heart screams to take it all back. Iolas is probably laughing at the proposal and Lucio's tacky way of offering himself. It isn't until the sound of a stuffy nose echo through the silent night that Lucio realizes his lover is crying and instantly he steps forward a different kind of fear gripping his heart. " W-wait-- wait, why are you crying? You never cry--" He falters and fidgets his hands around his lover unsure if he wants to be held or not.
Iolas turns finally, his red puffy eyes are turned down in a grimace as they glisten in the dim light. "Yeah, you idiot I never cry and look at what you made me do." His tone is harsh but it's followed by a sad shake that ruins any intention of anger. "Lucio I... I don't know how to do this." Lucio's heart slows but he's thrown for a loop and Iolas can sense his confusion and clears his throat as he wipes his leaking eyes. "No one has ever, wanted me like this before. I don't know if I can-- How do you know you want this? What if I disappoint you? What if you get tired of me and regret ever meeting me? At least if we keep things like before you can just get rid of me if I'm too much and I won't have to--" Lucio stops Iolas this time as he brings his lover close by pulling on his crossed arms.
"You won't have to worry about falling in love?" The blonde answers with his own sense of sadness, his eyes looking down at their feet before meeting with Iolas' who only nods in response. Lucio is a bit thankful that his lover didn't outright say no and is at least contemplating the idea of things. "I had the same thoughts and honestly I don't know how I'm sure. I just... am." Lucio's normal bravado comes back now that he feels more secure in the conversation. "I know that I love seeing you every day. I know that I love sleeping with you every night. I know that I don't want anyone else to hold you the way I hold you and I know that you feel the same way about me." At that the blonde swallows hoping he isn't wrong. "But mostly I know I don't ever want you to leave. If you were to go, do you know how fucking boring this place would be? I would set the parlor on fire within minutes of you being gone." The cheeky grin is back and Iolas snorts at the idea and manages a smile as he is now fully embraced by his lover.
Lucio rests his head on top the shorter man’s and hums, kissing the top of it. Slowly he pulls Iolas back so he can look down at him. "But it's not just about what I want... you kinda need to want those things too." Now it's Iolas turn to nervously look away and slowly as the shorter man's courage builds he tightens his grip on Lucio's jacket and more tears roll down his face as the realization comes crashing onto him that he'd do anything to be with the man in front of him. Before He can answer he shoves his face into Lucio's jacket rubbing his head back and forth on the soft fabric. "You moron-- Of course I want all that."
The blonde can't resist the urge to tease the other man however and laughs to himself. "I'm sorry, could you say that again I couldn't hear you from inside my jacket." Iolas hits the taller man's chest with a laugh before he goes to wipe his damp eyes yet again. "You know for a fact that I said YES-- urgh, gods look at what you did to my make up how the hell am I going to fix this now--" Iolas' whining is stopped short by his lover picking him up in a searing kiss that continues as the blonde twirls them both. With a firm grip on Iolas' waist Lucio looks up at the magician with a smile that could blind the gods. "I wanna hear you say it." Iolas rolls his eyes at that. With most of his face red as a beet, a large pout crosses the silver-haired man's lips. He kicks his legs from his newfound lifted position.
"I have zero idea what you're talking about--" Iolas protests but Lucio shakes his head. "Say it or you are never leaving this gazebo." Iolas is about to rebuttal but the look in Lucio's eyes is that yes he is serious. Iolas' expression softens, even if it's despite himself. "Of course I'll marry you, LuLu." Lucio whispers a soft ‘yes!’ Before he bounces in his spot and spins the both of them once again but this time continues to spin around the whole gazebo. The blonde’s laughing slowly raises to excited cackling as they spin. Iolas can only laugh back and struggle against the crazy man holding him. "Stop--! Lulu Stop! we're gonna--" but it's too late. Lucio's legs trip over themselves and with zero grace they both tumble onto the hardwood floor.
Iolas rolls onto his back and groans, dizzy and sore his eyes dart over to the man beside him who is just as dazed. Slowly Iolas entwines their hands with a smile and Lucio is about to kiss his lover's fingers before he remembers the ring. The blonde springs forward, getting up like the fall meant absolutely nothing. Iolas however takes his time sitting up as his lover fumbles to find the ring he dropped.
Soon as it's found Lucio slides over, the scraping sound of the taller man's pants on the hardwood makes the magician giggle. Iolas has to give the other man sheer points for his enthusiasm. Pompously Iolas sticks his left hand out, to which Lucio plays along and kisses the other man's ring finger dramatically before slipping the large ring onto Iolas' hand.
Carefully Iolas' holds his hand out to the light and observes the sheer size of the ring and can't help but grin. Lucio practically radiates waves of anticipation. His cheeks flushed from their recent spinning but his eyes sparkle and scream that they crave his lovers attention.
"Was this the biggest ring they had?" Iolas wiggles his fingers, acting as if he's unimpressed. Lucio simply feeds back into him. "How dare you." He sneers, pulling Iolas into his lap as he sits, unable to be on his knees any longer. "I had this one custom ordered. Not only is it the biggest ring in stores, but it's also the biggest wedding ring, period." He speaks into the shorter man's neck before he kisses it, The count's tone never faltering. The very idea of that sends Iolas into a giggle fit. He knows for a fact that this ring physically cannot be the biggest ring ever but another part of him can see Lucio putting up a fight with store owners about the pitiful size of their rings to the point where he just orders them to make him a whole new size.
"Of course, I knew my Lulu would only get me the best. He’s not capable of anything less." Lucio preens in the praise and Iolas strokes the back of his fingers against his lover's face. For a moment they stay like that, both of them processing what exactly just happened and what this means for their future. Iolas is the first to break the silence with a soft hum as he presses against Lucio's chest. "Thank you... Lucio." the taller man responds by nuzzling his nose into the shorter man's hair with a confused hum. "I never thought I could do this...” Iolas voice wavers but only slightly as he takes Lucios hand in his. The weight of the ring feels odd but strangely comforting. “... but for the first time, I'm not scared." Lucio smiles at that. and squeezes his lover in his arms.
"Good. We can be fearless together."

DSMP Model AU
something different from what I usually post :)
I don't really know much about modelling and fashion, so apologies if some of this is wrong or I'm missing something
lotsa words under the cut, you've been warned <3
Dream wants to create a fashion show :D
there's Dream's company known as Smile, the L'Manberg company, and a few freelancers that caught Dream's eye
Smile: Dream, Sapnap, Punz, Bad, Ant, Sam, Skeppy, Callahan, Purpled
L'Manberg: Wilbur, Niki, Eret, Fundy, Jack, Tommy, Tubbo, Ranboo
Freelance: George, Hannah, Schlatt, Quackity, Foolish, Puffy, Ponk, Techno, Phil
spans about 4-6 months in planning
something something scandal about Dream hiring Eret, Niki, Karl, Ant, and Puffy for LGBTQ+ brownie points uhh yeah American media is an absolute shitshow anyways all of them defend and support Dream (some nicely, some not-so-nicely, some very passive-aggressively)
the show itself takes less than an hour to do; 75 thousand people attend, even more watch it live
after party gets wild. almost no one remembers what happened that night, but it was wild (the interns were sent home early, dw)
they all trade numbers at the end to keep in contact, as they should
just a lot of forced friendship, screams, and chaos, nothing new
Models
George: an up-and-coming model; has an Instagram account that almost that a lot of people follow but he rarely posts; freelance
Sapnap: Dream's first model and followed him into the fashion world; likes to credit himself for getting Dream to where he is now
Wilbur: is a model for fun; works as a freelance musician but also accidentally created the L'Manberg company so yeah
Niki: also a model for fun; works at a flower shop in her downtime; part of the L'Manberg company
Eret: has been modelling for a while; was freelance for a while before getting picked up by the L'Manberg company; Wil likes to threaten to kick them out because they were the first one to agree to model in Dream's show but it's all lighthearted
Fundy: modelling is alright but playing pranks on the other models/photographers and recording them is much better; doesn't play pranks on any hair/makeup artists anymore tho bc one artist got so fed up they switched his outfit with a maid one and posted pictures; he still gets a lil nervous when he's getting his makeup done; accidentally called Wilbur his dad once and no one lets him live it down; part of the L'Manberg company
Hannah: likes to wear eco-friendly clothing; went through a phase of weaving roses into her hair regardless of what she was wearing; she still does that but dialed it down to only one rose and color coordinates the rose with her outfit; freelance
Designers
Dream: head designer, obviously; Sapnap dared him to wear a paper plate with a smiley face on it at a show/interview but it backfired because Dream's popularity skyrocketed and he made it his brand; parents passed down their company to him
Punz: does not care about dressing himself but will judge others; part of Dream's company
Schlatt: close to the L'Manberg company, but isn't a part of them; flirts with just about anyone; has several hidden stashes of alcohol scattered around the set that no one has discovered yet
Quackity: yes, he still wears the beanie; in a constant rotation of make chaotic clothing, flirt with pretty people, be depressed over pretty people, get angry for being depressed. rinse, wash, repeat forever; very afraid of Techno because he took an unflattering photo of him and is scared of it being used as blackmail; freelance
Foolish: likes to use gold and green/emeralds. a lot. very inspired by Egyptian clothing; has a little totem charm for luck; freelance
Hair and Makeup artists
Puffy: tends to dote on the interns; hangs around Niki, Sam, and Foolish; has styled hair for both companies before
Karl: works under Mr. Beast but close friends with Quackity and Sapnap who begged Dream put in a good word for him
Photographers
Ponk: when not working, likes to flirt with Sam; always has a lemon in his pocket and won't tell anyone why; freelance
Techno: technically freelance, but works closely with the L'Manberg company; very close to Phil; used to be a designer and clashed with Dream a lot, but he found he liked photography more; this doesn't mean Dream and Techno don't bicker when they see each other, oh no, their conversation is filled with insults
Agents/Managers
Bad: used to work under Dream's parents before Dream took over; more like an assistant for Dream himself rather than a manager, what with all the things Dream asks him to do
Ant: agent for Dream's company
Phil: technically a freelance agent/manager, but works closely with the L'Manberg company; very close to Techno
Technicians
Sam: unofficial head technician; part of Dream's company
Skeppy: manages the camera footage: part of Dream's company
Callahan: doesn't say anything, which is why Dream likes him (jk); fixes problems quickly and silently tho; part of Dream's company
Jack: can normally be seen wearing headphones; somehow is the dad friend and chaotic friend at the same time; part of the L'Manberg company
Interns
Tommy: joined the L'Manberg company because he looks up to the members and their associates (but he won't tell them that)
Tubbo: joined the L'Manberg company to follow Tommy; jokingly starts a new company called Snowchester with Ranboo and a pig plush they named Michael
Ranboo: technically working under the L'Manberg company, but then again, Dream has also offered for Ranboo to work for him... but does he abandon them or give up on an opportunity hmm
Purpled: is he working for money? is he held against his will? who knows: seems to appear and disappear without a trace; intern for Dream's company
Excerpts
George Davidson, more widely known as GeorgeNotFound, is a handsome British model that's been taking the world by storm. A magazine once described him as "you're either in love with him or want to be him", and, quite frankly, it's true.
Clay Craft, also known as Dream. The charming CEO of his parents' company, Smile, and starting up his very own fashion show. Rumor has it that the show will not only feature his own employees, but will also include some showstopping names from L'Manberg, as well as some very talented freelancers.
Wilbur Soot, the leading model and creator of L'Manberg. Though his company may have been started on a whim, no one can say that L'Manberg is unsuccessful, as it quickly rose in popularity, much like the man himself.
Smile is one of the best fashion brands out there, if not the best. With their wide range of products and people, Smile makes sure that every customer leaves with a smile.
"L'manberg?" Dream chuckles. "What a stupid name. L'manchildberg is a much better fit." "At least our brand isn't just a smiley face one of my friends drew on a paper plate." Wil snarks back.
You know, when Schlatt first asked Wilbur to model for him all those years ago, neither knew that their popularity would pick up, Wil would open his own company, and they would catch the eye of Dream himself.
George didn't know what to expect when his agent told him that Dream was interested in having him in his show, but watching one of the most famous designers fall to the floor, dying of laughter over a deez nuts joke was nowhere near what he could've imagined.
Celeb News @/CelebNews L'Manberg technician Jack Manifold leaks that his company will be participating in Dream's fashion show! The question on everybody's mind is: who will be in it? Masterlist | Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
VIOLENTLY bright and tacky lights were strung through the halls, spare corners and classrooms decorated with paper snowflakes and plastic Christmas trees and the general spirits of student was lifted at least thirty percent by the approaching break. Mack sighed and closed her locker, turning to face Jo as she filled her in on everything that happened when she was away.
"So who's this mystery guy that keeps coming up then?" Jo urged with a raised brown, poking Mack in the side playfully with her elbow.
"Just that. A mystery." Mack retorted, scoffing and rolling her eyes at the overly invested girl.
"A mystery, huh? Well I do love a good problem to solve." Jo teased. "If I can't know who he is, at least tell me what happened." No suggested. After a long pause to mill it over, Mack finally caved.
"Okay, so - don't freak out, but I may have slept with him." Mack all but whispered. Jo cupped her ear with her hand and said:
"What was that? I couldn't hear you." Mack chewed her bottom lips before repeating.
"I slept with him. Twice." Jo's eyes went wide.
"Twice?!" Mack but her lips and nodded. Suddenly an arm was thrown over her shoulder and Mack turned to see a grinning Kai.
"So what's this?" He asked, mock shock on his face.
"Mack finally found a way to forget Ben." Jo stated.
"Ooooo, so Kenz's finally getting some?" Mack rolled her eyes. "It's about time really, I was getting fed up with her cranking attitude and-" he cut off when Mack hit him in the shoulder and he retracted his arm, shooting her a knowing look.
"It's not like that. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing, I doubt it will happen again." She dismissed, giving Kai a warning look.
"If you say so. Hey, this is me. Catch you guys later!" Jo said as they reached her class.
"Won't happen again, huh?" Kai husked lowly in Mack's ear once Jo was gone.
"Yes. So don't try anything." Kai's mischievous grin worried Mack and before she knew it he had grabbed her hand and pulled her into Janitor's closet and pressed her against the closed door.
"Like this?" He whispered, nibbling softly at her earlobe. She put her hands on his chest and pushed Kai back slightly.
"Yes, like this."
"We have a free period, may as well use it." He shot back with arched brows. He stepped closer to her again. "I know you want to." His minty breath fanned over her face, intoxicating her further. Mack looked away, and before he could get another word in she smashed her lips to his, her arms wrapping around his neck.
Kai was taken back at first but he quickly melted into the kiss, bracing a hand on the door beside Mack and his other settled on her hip after running over her curves.
"This is the last time this happens." Mack mumbled against his lips, gasping as Kai picked her up and wrapped her legs around his waist before crashing her back to the door again.
"Okay." He murmured back, knowing full-well it wouldn't be.
...
"So what are you guys doing for Christmas?" Mack wondered aloud as Kai drove her and Jo home.
"Yeah, our family is going to San Francisco to see our cousins." Jo explained. "Well Kai isn't, as usual." she added almost accusingly.
"So you're gonna be on your own for Christmas?" Mack's question was directed at Kai now. he scoffed.
"So?" he seemed completely disinterested. Mack's eyes were wide.
"So?! What are you on about? It's Christmas!" Mack exclaimed, shocked. After a moment of thinking she came up with a solution. "Why don't you join my family for Christmas? It's only my dad, my sister and me but it's normally quite funny and we could always use some extra company." she quickly added, "and you can probably cook better than any of us."
After a moment of no answer Mack spoke again.
"You don't have to, I just didn't think you'd want to be alone. Think about it." She said as Kai pulled up to he house. "Thank you for the lift, bye!" and with that she climbed out Kai's car, slinging her bag over her shoulder and opening her front door.
"Hey dad." she said, dumping her bag on the table and grabbing an apple from the fruit bowel.
"Hey sweetheart." he chimed back, focus still on his notepad in front of him. "have a good day at school? How's Kai?" Mack took a bite of her apple.
"School's..." she trailed off, thinking about the Janator's closet, "fine, I guess. And Kai's good too. Speaking of Kai, can he spend Christmas with us? His family is going away and he'll be alone." Mack put her pleading face on.
"Of course he can, that boy has been a great help to you these past few months and I'd love to finally meet him. Do you want to give him a call?" he suggested, finally looking up from his work.
"I'll call him later. I've got homework to do, so I'll just be up in my room if you need me." Mack said, walking towards the stairs.
"Oh honey," her dad started. she turned back to face him.
"Yeah, dad?"
"Kim's boyfriend is also joining us this year."
"Boyfriend?"
"Yeah, they started going out recently. I think he's younger than her - maybe your age. I am yet to meet him, so she thought Christmas would be the perfect opportunity."
"Okay." Mack walked up the stairs, the cogs of her mind churning, trying to figure out who her sister was dating.
...
"Kai! Finally, I thought you'd never come." Mack greeted cheerfully, smiling widely at Kai would held a few stacked trays covered with tea-towels in his hands.
"And miss seeing you in this little get-up?" He gestured to her red dress and Santa hat, "not a chance in the world, sweetheart." Kai grinned back, placing a quick kiss on her cheek as he walked into the house.
"You must be Kai!" Her Dad said as he saw Kai, Kim taking the plates from him as he mouthed a thank you before returning to her dad.
"Correct. You must be Mr Grace." Kai mentioned, shaking his hand firmly.
"Oh, please call me Ian." Ian waved off, releasing Kai's hand.
"Well, it's good to meet you, Ian. Thank you so much for having me." Kai thanked.
"Oh, it's no big deal. It's nice to have some more company for a change." Ian smiled. Kai turned to Kim.
"Ah, the sister." He said with a tight smile.
"Ah, the boyfriend." She mimicked. Kai had an amused smile at that.
"Not quite, just the best friend for now. I don't think she's quite over-" he was cut off when he heard Mack's horror filled voice whisper.
"Ben." She stood completely frozen, the door wide open and a smirking Ben stood on the other side, a small box tucked under his arm.
"Hey doll, how are you?" He said with a sickeningly cheery smile that made Kai clench his fists. After the moment of awkward silence, Kim walked over, pecking Ben on the lips and taking his hand, leading him into the house.
"So, everyone. Ben is my boyfriend, we started talking a few months ago. And we're really happy." Kim announced, standing hand-in-hand with a grinning Ben. Kai put his hands on Mack's shoulders, looking into her eyes with concern.
"You gonna be okay?" He whispered, thumbs stroking her shoulder soothingly. She swallowed thickly before nodding, still looking straight ahead with a look of emptiness in her eyes. She closed the door, sticky heading towards the sofa and pulling Kai down to sit next to her.
They zoned out the interaction currently happening, Mack's body slumping against Kai until she laid down, her head in his lap. He played with her hair, trying to quell the building anger inside him.
"So, Ben - long time no see?" Ian said with a bright smile and mockingly-sad tone. Ben smiled at the man from where he sat beside Kim, his arm slung over her shoulder.
"Yeah, well, after me and Mack decided to end things, it got lonely for me. Then I bumped into Kim at the diner down the road and we just got to...talking." Ben mused, but Mack could tell by the mischievous glint in his eye they did something, but talking was not it. "And ever since then, we've been practically inseparable." He finished, entwining his hand with Kim's and smiling down at her with warmth, but a dark undertone still lingered in his gaze.
"Well, I hope it isn't awkward between you kids." Ian joked, gesturing from Ben to Mack with his hand, which had a bottle of beer comfortably settled in it. Ben chuckled and Mack forced a smile, but Kai was practically seething, it glare emitting nothing but anger as he shot an icy stare at Ben. Mack noticed this and gently tugged him away.
"We'll go get dinner ready." She said with a small smile as she pulled Kai into the kitchen, slamming the door behind him and looking into his eyes - which remained fixed on the door as his nostrils flared and his face burned crimson. "Hey, hey. Look at me." Mack soothed as she placed her hands on the sides of Kai's face, stroking his cheekbones softly with her thumbs. His gaze broke and he looked down at her, his expression softening at the sight of Mack.
"I'm sorry, Kenz. I just- I can't stand him." Kai seethed and Mack shushed him gently.
"I know, but I need you to stay calm for me." She whispered and he nodded slowly. "Now, how 'bout we get this food ready?" Mack suggested and Kai's anger seemed to melt away at the mention of food, his shoulders relaxing and a wide smile replacing his frown. He leant down, kissing Mack languidly before pulling away and walking over to the oven.
"You do the veg and I'll handle the Turkey?" Kai grinned and Mack smiled warmly.
...
"This is delicious, Kai. Thank you so much for bringing it." Ian commented, mouthful of food as he eagerly wolfed down the plate of Christmas dinner Mack had served him.
"Yeah, I guess you can cook much better than you can throw a punch, huh?" Ben jeered with an amused grin. Mack and Kim grimaced and Kai had to stop himself from dropping his fork. Or stabbing it into Ben's hand, for that matter. Kai looked up at Ben with a fake smile.
"I guess so." He chuckled and Ben followed, the tension melting as they all continued to eat. "But, you know, just for the record." Kai started and Mack put her knife and fork down, burying her face in her hands as Ben raised a brow and Ian looked between the two boys. "I think you're a much better conversationalist than boyfriend." Kai mused.
"And what makes you say that?" Ben prompted.
"Well, from what I  can tell you can make it through a whole conversation with out hitting someone, unlike your relationships." Kai snapped and Ian's eyes widened, Ben's jaw ticked and he gripped his fork tightly. "Notting to say to that, sick bastard?" Kai taunted and Ben's jaw clenched and he abruptly stood.
Kai followed soon after. Mack reached out for him, placing a hand on Kai's arm but he shrugged her off. Kim seemed to be frozen and their dad looked completely lost. Ben made the first move, stepping around the table. Kai was soon to copy him but as Ben threw his fist Kai caught it with ease. He smirked at Ben.
"Still wanna tell me I can't throw a punch?" Kai asked with raised brows and Ben's angered face melted into one of fear and he coward away from Kai. "Didn't think so." Kai muttered before twisting Ben's arm round and holding it against his back as Ben cried out in pain. "Now, why don't you leave and stay the fuck away from Kenz, huh? I know how much you like to lay your hands on her.." Kai trailed off and let Ben go, who stumble forward and practically bolted from the house, the door slamming with a bang behind him the reverberated from the walls like thunder.
"Get. Your. Fuck-buddy. Under. Control." Kim spat at Mack before storming off, the sound of the legs of her chair scraping bitterly against the floor was punctuated awkwardly but the slam of the door behind her. A thick tension rose, thick enough that a knife could slice straight through it like it was cutting cheesecake.
"Well.." Ian began but Mack was gone, the last thud of the door causing both Kai and Ian to flinch as the wood smashed against the battered frame.
"I'm sorry-" Kai tried to apologise, turning to face the man but Ian held up a hand, halting Kai's words.
"No. You did the right thing, boy. I can't believe I let that boy in my home - near my daughters!" Ian gritted out and Kai's jaw clenched. "I should have been a better father..."  he murmured.
"No." Kai said harshly, making Ian's head snap up to look at him. "You are not at fault. Ben is a vile creature who deserves to rot in hell." Kai spat and Ian nodded. "And if you think you're a bad father, you are strongly mistaken. If you knew how much Kenz appreciates you,     you'd-" Kai's little sprang was cut off when a violent buzzing echoed from his pocket. Kai pulled out his pager to see Mack's number and instantly rushed to the phone.
"Kenz? Oh my god, Kenz! You had us worried sick! Where are you? I'll come pick you up-"
"I killed him, Kai. He's - he's dead."

Skinny-dipping Under the Stars
Word count: 1.4k
A/N: This is my first JJ imagine!! I hope you enjoy it!!!
“Would you, uh, like a drink?” JJ asked some pretty touron girl with a wink.
You sighed as the girl leaned forwards towards him, displaying the cleavage spilling out of her tight tube top.
JJ smirked and looked down, checking her out while he gave her a cup of beer.
You hopped off the log that you and JJ were sitting on in the Boneyard next to the Keg and ran a hand through your hair. “Alright J, I’m out. I’m gonna go dance with Kie and Sarah.”
JJ turned to you, the showy touron immediately forgotten. “No, stay with me,” he pouted and gave you his best puppy dog face.
You ruffled his hair and tried to smile, yet you knew it didn’t quite reach your cheeks. “Have fun with the touron,” you said and walked away. You wanted to stay with JJ, but you couldn’t stand to see him flirting with another girl. Sure, he was a very flirty person in general and you knew he couldn’t help that, but it was hard to watch. Especially because you kinda sorta maybe had feelings for him. Sometimes you thought that maybe he liked you back, but then again, due to his naturally flirty personality it was hard to tell with JJ.
You could feel his eyes on you as you walked across the beach, so you tugged your jean shorts a little higher, exposing more of your legs. And well if he wasn’t actually looking, maybe you could find someone else to mack on to help you get over him.
You walked up to Sarah and Kie and bumped your hips together. “Hey guys!”
“Hey Y/N, how’s it going?” Kie asked.
You allowed your gaze to shift to the side as you watched JJ talk to the touron, and Sarah and Kie followed your line of view.
“Aww babe, I’m sorry,” Sarah said comfortingly while Kie squeezed your hand. Kie and Sarah were the only people that knew about your crush on JJ, so you told them pretty much everything.
“Yeah, it’s fine,” you said, your eyes downcast. You gave him another glance but this time your eyes met his blue eyes staring straight back at your own. A smile spread across his face and you forced yourself to look away.
“Okay, I can’t handle this. Let’s get high!” you exclaimed. Kie and Sarah looked surprised because though you had done it before, you were usually anti-drugs and alcohol, given that you were only 16. But they also knew that they needed to get your mind off JJ, and that was the way to do it.
“Okay, we’re gonna go get a blunt, stay right here, okay?” Kie asked and you nodded. You watched as she and Sarah went over to JJ and asked for a blunt, pointing at you. His brow furrowed and you could see that they were getting into a bit of an argument. Kie and Sarah looked slightly angry as JJ kept waving his hands and pointing at you, before finally relenting and handing Kie a blunt.
When the girls returned, you asked “What was that about?”
“Ugh, JJ didn’t want to give us a blunt because he knew that you don’t like to get high so he thought we were pressuring you into it. He only gave it to us because we promised that we wouldn’t let you get too high,” Sarah said, shaking her head frustratedly.
“What the hell? JJ can’t decide how high I’m gonna get!” you exclaimed. Despite the sweet concern, you felt a little angry at JJ. He was off with a touron so he had no right to worry about you! You took the blunt from Kie and put it in your mouth, waiting for her to light it. After she did, you took a hit and coughed, before passing it around.
Though you had gotten mad at JJ for trying to control your drug intake, he was right. You didn’t really like doing drugs, and from previous experiences you knew that you didn’t like the feeling of being out of control when you were drunk or high, so you stopped after one hit. Enough to take the pain away, to get your blood flowing, to make you feel good, but not enough to make you lose control.
You sat for a while, talking and laughing with Kie and Sarah, and watching the party disperse. Then, John B, Pope, and JJ came up to you guys.
“Guys, wanna head back to the Chateau?” John B asked.
“No, I’m not ready yet.” Something inside you changed as you realized what you wanted to do. Maybe it was the hit making you make the decision, or maybe it was you, fed up with being a good girl, or maybe it was just something that you thought would be fun. Probably a mix of all three.
Everyone’s eyes were on you as you stood up and pulled the shirt over your head, and your shorts came off, leaving you in your bikini. Slowly, you untied your bikini top and pulled it off, and slipped out of your bikini bottoms, leaving you naked in front of your friends. It wasn’t a big deal, they couldn’t completely see your body in the light, and plus, they were your best friends, so you knew they didn’t care about what you looked like.
Everyone stood still and you heard someone gulp loudly. It was JJ.
“What are you waiting for! Let’s go skinny-dipping!” You shouted and took off running towards the water.
The rest of the pogues looked at each other before shrugging, then stripping down to their naked bodies and running after you into the water.
As the cold ocean water hit your body, it felt good and you let out a happy sigh. You began a splash fight with your friends, everyone splashing each other and having fun in the water. As you took on JJ, you couldn’t help but notice how his abs tightened and his muscles clenched with every movement and twist of his body. You splashed hard, and when you were tired, you both stopped, breathing heavily and staring at each other.
Your eyes wandered over JJ’s bare torso, arms, and chest, and how the water droplets glistened against his skin that was illuminated by the moonlight. Your eyes made their way back up to his face and you noticed how his eyes were tracing and exploring your body.
Suddenly, you got interrupted by a splash in the face from Kie.
“We’re playing Marco Polo, come on!” She shouted.
You reluctantly tore your eyes away from JJ and swam towards the rest of the group, JJ following.
“Okay guys, I’ll be Marco first,” Pope said and closed his eyes. He counted to 10 and you all swam away. Eventually, he caught Sarah, who yelped when he touched her butt by accident when he caught her. John B growled in response.
After many rounds, when everyone had been Marco at least once, it was JJ’s turn again. The sun had fully set and it was pitch black outside, the only light coming from the moon and the stars. As JJ counted to 10, you swam away, being careful not to make too much noise.
“Marco!” JJ called and swam towards John B, who just narrowly missed being tagged.
“Polo!” Everyone responded.
The call and response continued for a while, and as you swam around, avoiding JJ, you thought you were safe. Until from behind you felt a strong arm wrap around your torso just under your breast, pressing your naked bodies together, and the other move to cover your mouth. A chin rested on your shoulder and you heard JJ whisper, “You’re it.”
You turned around in JJ’s arms so you were facing towards each other and you wrapped your arms around his neck. You stared into his eyes and he stared right back, making your heart race. Maybe JJ actually did like you. He brought your legs up around his waist and leaned in to press a gentle kiss to your lips, before breaking away to kiss your neck. You tilted your head back and let out a soft moan before clapping a hand to your mouth as you realized what you’d done. JJ kept kissing your neck but it seemed like everybody else went completely silent.
“Well, it looks like JJ found Y/N!” Pope exclaimed. Everybody laughed and began to cheer. Your cheeks turned red in embarrassment and JJ disconnected his lips from your skin to smile up at you as he chuckled softly. You buried his face in your neck and pressed your bodies together as he rubbed your back gently.
“Yeah, I did.”

Go Forth Slowly - Chapter 2
Chapter two! Let me know what you think!
Hailey’s alarm blared into the dimly lit room, causing her to groan as she rolled over to hit snooze. It was only when she shifted around in the bed that she realized where she actually was. After weeks in a hotel bed the comfort of her own was something she wasn’t ready to leave just yet. She propped her pillow up against the headboard and swiped her phone open. The first, and honestly only thing she noticed, was the text from Jay.
Good morning, hope you’re well rested for your first day back! :)
The message brought a smile to her face as she instantly flashed back to yesterday.
Jay had picked her up from the airport and as soon as she laid eyes on him she was home. She had been overcome with a wide range of emotions as she walked beside him through the airport, but had thankfully managed to conceal them from him for the time being. Out in his truck, Jay had loaded her bags into the backseat and then they climbed in and he skillfully navigated them through the airport traffic. It wasn’t late by any means, but Hailey’s early morning and her day of travel had her feeling more tired than she’d care to admit. Jay had suggested Bartoli’s but she had regretfully declined, stating she wanted to feel less like a zombie when they finally got their pizza. They had settled on some subs from one of Hailey’s favorite little shops and decided to take them to go, so Hailey could get home. Jay followed her into her house as he had done a million times before, but something about the way she was feeling and his presence had her on edge most of the night. They ate their subs and shared stories over a few beers before Jay left for the evening, not that either one of them was truly ready to part. Once he was gone, Hailey had padded up her stairs and into the bathroom, ready to take a long bath in the hopes of clearing her head. Of course, it did little to help her wind down and instead she found herself thinking of Jay even more. She needed to get a handle on herself and figure out a way to push her feelings for him back down. Admitting her feelings to him didn’t seem like an option and she certainly wasn’t ready to take the risk of losing him altogether. Working herself up to the point of true frustration, Hailey took a deep breath and sunk herself down under the hot water. When she emerged, soaked hair clinging to her face, she told herself that her feelings for Jay would go down the drain once she got out. It sounded good in theory and she hoped it was something that would work. Hailey was able to get out of the bath and climb into some comfy pajamas. Crawling into her own bed for the first time in weeks and falling asleep almost instantly.
Hailey drew her attention back to the present, back to the phone in her hands with Jay’s message displayed on the screen. Any hopes of drowning her feelings in the tub went out the window as she reread his text again. With a sigh she typed up a quick response, unable to contain the small smile on her face.
Morning. Totally well rested and ready to come back. :)
She ran a hand through her hair, letting out another sigh but smiled again when he instantly replied.
That’s good. I can’t wait.
She let out a chuckle at his message, happy he seemed just as eager for her return.
Ha, it’s almost like you’re excited to see me…
Hailey sat up in the bed, deciding she better get a move on it if she didn’t want to be late. But her phone dinged again before she could get up.
No really, I can’t wait…
No sooner had she read the text did her doorbell ring downstairs. Hailey whipped her covers back, jumping out of bed and hurrying downstairs. She pulled the door open with a smile, having already seen his tall frame silhouetted in the window. His smile matched hers before his face flashed embarrassment at her presence. She stepped aside and ushered him in, forgetting for a moment that she was still clad in her light pink pajama shorts and short sleeve button up. She didn’t miss his eyes darting down the length of her legs before his eyes met hers and his cheeks began to blush. Hailey felt her own blush begin to creep in but darted into the kitchen before he could see. She started the pot of coffee, turning to watch him set a box of donuts on her counter.
“If I took them to the precinct, they’d be gone before you had any with Kevin and Adam around.”
He explained, giving her a sheepish look. She smiled at him as she pulled the box open and took her pick. She spun the box around, motioning for him to take one. He happily obliged and she watched as he picked an all chocolate one. Hailey brought her Long John donut to her mouth. Their eyes met as she bit into it and she chuckled when little bits of frosting crumbled down her chest. Hailey quickly swept away at her shirt and when her eyes moved back up she saw his quickly divert away, another flush of pink on his cheeks. At that point Hailey realized her button up shirt was not only thin material but left little to the imagination as far as what was underneath. Her own cheeks burned as she turned around to pour them each a cup of coffee. She set his on the counter and made sure to keep her body angled just right in order to not make this situation any more awkward. Hailey finished the rest of her donut quickly and then watched as Jay lingered awkwardly in her kitchen.
“Do you want a ride into work? I know your Jeep is still there.”
Hailey had honestly forgotten about her lack of a vehicle so she quickly nodded her thanks to Jay.
“I just need to shower real quick, if that’s okay?”
She asked, moving around the counter and watching as his eyes once again trailed her legs.
“Yeah, uh, that’s fine.”
Jay turned to give her a smile, but Hailey was more focused on the way he shifted uncomfortably on her barstool. Before she could think anything else of it she turned and darted up the stairs. Hailey made sure to take a fast, and cold, shower before she got dressed and dried her hair. She headed back downstairs to find Jay now comfortably settled onto her couch, flipping through the tv channels. The way he fit so naturally into her environment made Hailey’s heart skip a beat and once again she was pushing her feelings back down.
“You ready?”
She asked, after admittedly staring at him for a moment. His face instantly turned to hers with a sheepish smile on his face. His smile grew as he took her in fully and Hailey felt heat threaten to creep into her cheeks for the hundredth time this morning. He stood and they headed back out to her kitchen where she grabbed a few things and made her way out the door. The first half of the ride was quiet and Hailey found herself feeling a little awkward over the events of this morning. She chastised herself and pushed it down, assuming she was probably just overthinking things. Jay pulled into a spot in front of her favorite coffee shop and smiled when she excitedly hopped out behind him. He paid, of course he did, and Hailey shot him a look before thankfully taking the cup of coffee. They headed back out to his truck and Hailey felt a small sense of relief as the awkwardness she felt began to lift. They settled into an easy banter on the rest of the drive in and by the time they made it to the precinct, Hailey had all but forgotten her worries from this morning. She followed Jay up the steps into the 21st and sent a huge smile towards Platt, happy to see the gruff desk Sergeant once again.
“Hey Sarge!”
Hailey beamed up at the older woman, earning a less than enthusiastic smile in return.
“I see the Feds sent you back even more perky than before. Welcome back Upton.”
Trudy ended with her version of a genuine smile and Hailey turned to follow Jay up the steps. He angled his body back to whisper to her as they stepped out of Platt’s view.
“For the record, I don’t think perky is a word I would use to describe you.”
Hailey laughed at his sentiment before quirking her head in question, his smirk faltering at the sight.
“How would you describe me Jay?”
Her words caused him to swallow hard, something that didn’t go unnoticed by her. But before she could push for an answer, they cleared the top steps and Hailey was met with a chorus of cheers and ‘welcome backs’ from her unit. Kevin came and embraced her in a tight hug while everyone else lined up to follow suit. Hailey met eyes with Jay once as he darted around the group and headed to his desk. He sent her a smile and she knew he was just as happy she was back. Eventually the group settled down and Hailey moved over to finally sit at her desk. She sank into the chair and wasn’t able to contain the content sigh that escaped her lips.
“Good to be back?”
Jay asked, leaning over so she could hear him. His eyes sparkled as he spoke and the sight distracted her. She gave him a quick nod, matching his smile before she tried to move her focus elsewhere. It was going to be a long day if she couldn’t get a handle on herself.
The first hour of their morning started slowly, thankfully allowing Hailey to catch up on the cases the unit had been working in her absence. Voight entered the bullpen with Platt and an older man carrying a large box of equipment. Hailey sent Jay a questioning look but he simply shrugged, looking as clueless as she felt.
“Alright everyone, the CPD and the CFD thought it would be a good idea to do a little refresher course on first aid for it’s officers. We’ll be getting some new equipment for our vehicles and today you’re going to learn how to use it. This is Mack from CFD. You all best behave and listen to what he has to say.”
Platt sent them each a firm look before stepping aside and letting the older man begin his routine. Voight snuck into his office, phone to his ear as if he was too busy for this.
“Okay. Hi everyone, I’m Mack. I’m just going to give you guys the rundown on some of this equipment and show you how to use a few of the things you might not be totally familiar with. Can I get you guys to push these desks back and we’ll work in pairs on the floor.”
Hailey and Jay exchanged another look as they moved to push their desks out of the way. They eventually all lined up in the middle of the room, Hailey flanked by Jay on one side and Kim on the other.
“I feel like we’re in P.E or something.”
Kim leaned in to whisper, causing Hailey to chuckle. Mack moved around the room, setting up little stations with different scenarios for each. Then he came over and broke everyone into pairs, Adam and Kim were ushered over to a table with a mix of bandages, Jay and Hailey were pointed in the direction of a pile of what appeared to be straps on the floor and Kevin was sent to fetch Voight, in order to do their exercise. Mack came over to start with Jay and Hailey, he bent to pick up some of the items from the floor and lifted them for the group to see.
“Okay, these are tourniquets and they would be used in the event of some sort of trauma to a limb. Gunshot, severed limb...that sort of thing. They cut off blood flow which can be lifesaving if done properly. Are either of you familiar with these?”
He turned to face Jay and Hailey. Jay nodded immediately, his eyes darkening slightly in a way that told Hailey his knowledge of them was Military related. Mack gave him a nod and handed him a set of the straps.
“Okay, lets say your partner has an injury to her arm. Will you demonstrate how you would use this?”
Jay nodded again, taking the straps and turning to Hailey. He slid the belt like fabric onto her arm and shimmied it up over her elbow. Mack nodded at his work, pointing to a spot just above her elbow where her pretend injury would be. Jay moved the strap up higher and began to tighten it on the middle of her upper arm. Hailey watched as his hands skillfully worked the tourniquet around her arm. He pulled to tighten it again and his hand grazed the side of her chest, causing her to take in a sharp breath of surprise. Jay’s eyes met hers immediately and her cheeks blushed again.
“Yep, they can be painful when they’re tight, but better than bleeding out.”
Mack stated, having taken her inhale as discomfort from the pain rather than the gasp of pleasure from Jay’s touch. Mack motioned for her to show everyone else before he let Jay release it. Jay carefully positioned her arm out, so as not to brush against her again. Not that she would have minded honestly, but that wasn’t something she was about to admit. They separated slightly once she was free, but both held eye contact longer than necessary, until Mack instructed Hailey to have a turn using it on Jay. Hailey took the tourniquet from Jay, fumbling slightly with the fabric as she was still focused on his touch. As she went to slide it up his arm, as he had done on her, Mack stopped them.
“These can also be applied to the legs. Let's say he has been shot in his thigh, you’ll need to put it a few inches above the wound and then tighten it. Mack gave them each a nod and then turned to move on to the next group. They shared another look before Jay raised an eyebrow, sending her a smirk as he crawled down onto the floor. For the added effect, Jay laid all the way down onto his back, spreading his legs open slightly and causing Hailey’s heart to pick up its pace. Hailey knelt beside his leg, sliding the tourniquet over his boot and up his leg. As she cleared his knee her palms became slick and her eyes trailed up his thigh, towards his groin. Hailey moved it about an inch above his knee, ready to call that good enough, but unfortunately Mack returned and told her to take it higher. Hailey swallowed hard, eyes darting to Jay’s face and finding his eyes closed as she moved the strap up higher. Her hand was right between his legs, almost to the crotch of his jeans as she began to tighten the strap slowly. All attempts at controlling her thoughts were out the window as she focused on the proximity to parts of Jay she had only dreamed about. Surely her face was beat red, but thankfully his eyes were still closed. She pulled it tight, watching as the fabric of his jeans shifted under the tourniquets grip, only aiding in her imagination of exactly what Jay was working with. Mack stepped behind her again, speaking close to her ear and making her jump.
“Okay good, now try to slide your fingers between him and the strap. You want to make sure you have it nice and tight.”
Hailey clenched her hand quickly before moving it up and doing as she was told. As she struggled to push her fingers between the two bits of fabric, her eyes watched Jay’s mouth tug into a smirk. His eyes opened then, meeting hers and the darkness that swirled in them now had nothing to do with his traumatic past. Hailey’s breath caught in her throat as she continued to wiggle her hand against the strap, trying to push her fingers through. Jay’s hand came to rest on hers, halting her movement. She sent him a look, brows furrowing.
“It’s tight enough. You did good.”
He quickly removed his hand from hers, propping himself up on his elbows to look at her. She gave him a nod and then moved to release the tight fabric. All her movement of trying to get her fingers underneath had shifted the tourniquet slightly and now the clasp was between his legs even further. Determined to quickly finish her task, Hailey began to loosen and wiggle the straps until Jay once again stopped her.
“I can get it…”
He trailed off, suddenly looking a little embarrassed. The stubborn side of Hailey kicked in and she shook her head, wanting to finish what she had started.
“I can get it, I just need to get my hands around it…”
She stopped when Jay shifted, scooting himself up and back a little father from her touch.
“Yeah..uh..I can get it.”
Hailey sat back on her heels with a huff, but her hands lingered on his thigh.
“Jay…is there an issue with me finishing this stupid task?”
She asked, sending him a challenging look. His cheeks flushed under her stare and his eyes darted away before he spoke.
“Might be a little issue...with your hands, uh…”
He trailed off again, swallowing hard and looking more embarrassed than ever. Hailey’s brain caught up to what he was saying and before she could stop herself her eyes flashed to the front of his jeans before she quickly pulled them away. Her hands flew off his thigh as if she had been burned. She stood, eyes searching for anywhere to look but him. Jay removed the tourniquet and stood beside her, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
“I didn’t mean..I mean.. Just your hands and the movement…”
He stammered over his words until Hailey put a hand up to stop him.
“It’s all good Jay. My bad.”
She refused to look at him, her heart still beating out of her chest. She was going to need another cold shower after this and probably copious amounts of alcohol. Before Jay could say anything further, Mack was talking once again and they both focused their attention on him.
Hailey made it through the rest of the day, thankfully they had caught an easy case and it was enough to help them both be distracted from the earlier incident. At the end of the day, Hailey was in the locker room ready to leave when Jay walked in. He gave her a quick smile as he moved to his locker.
“So, up for some Bartoli’s tonight. I could definitely use some pizza and a few beers…”
He trailed off, giving her a sheepish grin. Hailey considered telling him no, thinking that alcohol and Jay after her day of ravishing thoughts probably wasn't the best idea. But she really was craving pizza...and some time with Jay. She nodded, shutting her locker door and watching the smile light up his face. He followed her out of the locker room and they headed to their separate vehicles. Despite her day of thoughts she had no business having, Hailey could barely contain her excitement as she pulled out of the lot behind Jay.

No More Divisions - Chapter Seven: Goodbye
JJ x Original Character
Tumblr media
hey everyone, the feedback I've been getting is amazing, thanks so much!! I know my writing isn't perfect but to know someone somewhere is reading and enjoying it makes me so happy! <3
MASTERLIST
~
It was 3:10 pm. John B. and Sarah were late. Under different circumstances I probably wouldn't have cared but knowing the situation we were in, every second counted.
Although we were all very nervous, Pope was the worst of all. He was pacing the dock, talking to himself in hushed tones. He was scaring me a little.
"Pope," Kiara spoke up, cautiously walking towards him.
He stopped and looked to her. "What if they got caught?"
Kiara cupped her hands and brought them to Pope's face. "No. They're fine, just late."
I stood beside Kiara. "She's right Pope, he'll be here any second."
"C'mon dude," JJ smirked, patting his friend on the back. "You know JB, he's always late."
Pope nodded, smiling at all of us. "You're right, he'll be here."
We all hugged Pope, hoping that our reassuring words helped him. To be honest, I didn't even know if I was correct. He could be caught or even worse, dead. The police around here had tunnel vision, like JJ said, and I was scared for John B. and Sarah. The reward mixed in with how determined the police were made a scary pair of odds for John B. and Sarah.
We all separate after a minute of hugging Pope, except for Kiara. She continues to hug Pope and reassure him, even after JJ and I have backed away. I don't say anything even though I know what's going on. I look to JJ to see if he senses the same thing, but I realized he's not looking at Kiara and Pope, he's looking at me. Inch by inch, he's shifted towards my side and now he's so close that his hand touches mine.
Once our fingers graze, my eyes widen and I pull away. He's making me so nervous. To avoid his fingers again, I cross my arms over my chest.
JJ looks away and towards Kiara and Pope, who are still talking. "So, are we gonna talk about it, or are you just gonna ignore me?"
I glance at him, scoffing quietly. "I'm not ignoring you. I'm trying to focus on the task at hand. I have to be responsible."
JJ groans. "How am I even attracted to you? Doesn't matter, I am."
Now I'm suppressing laughter. I turn towards him. His body is not facing me yet and he hasn't looked back at me. "You're attracted to me?"
JJ's eyes widen as I speak, turning towards me quickly. He's looking directly at me. "I'm -"
"Cops!" Pope yells, pointing to something behind us.
JJ and I both jump in surprise and turn around. Every hair on my body is up. I'm on high alert. These cops are probably here because they know we have something to do with John B. and they want to see who is gonna break. It's not gonna be me.
I see the police car park on the grass and turn off the ignition, the car's lights turning off. JJ stands in front of me as Kiara and Pope run closer to us. We're all trying to protect eachother just in case.
Yet, we don't have to protect eachother. Instead of a cop poking his head out of the car, it turns out to be John B. I laugh, surprised. He was definitely the last person I though I'd see driving a cop car.
"JB!" JJ yells, running to his friend as John B. makes his way to us.
"Hey." John B. smiles at us and hugs JJ. He looks completely exhausted. There's deep bags under his eyes I can see from where I'm standing. His clothes are very dirty too; sweat and dirt coating his body. I'm sure he'll be glad to be near the water.
Pope is not far behind and hugs him soon after. Kiara and I wait until he comes to us.
As he's hugging Kiara, JJ speaks up. "Where the hell did you get a cop car?"
John B. turned to JJ and shrugged. "Kinda stole it."
JJ howls, acting so juvenile. "That's so cool."
John B. turns to me and smiles. "Callie..."
I give him a shy smile. He doesn't need to say anything, I already know. I open my arms wide and hug him. This is the first time I'm actually talking to John B., let alone hugging him but it feels so natural. I know it's because we already feel so close to each other.
As we hug, John B. speaks. "I can't thank you enough. Sarah is so lucky to have you."
We let go of eachother and I look at John B. again. "You have me too now." Then, my brain reminds me of something and I feel like I got punched in the gut. "Where's Sarah?"
John B. frowns. "She said she'd meet me here. She's not here?"
I shake my head, starting to panic. If she's not with John B., then where the hell is she? Is she with the police? My mind is operating on minimal sleep and my brain is thinking of the worst possible situations.
"She's not." I'm full on panicking. The girl that's basically my sister is gone.
"I can't leave without her." John B. said, looking at all of us.
"No," Kiara frowns, grabbing onto John B.'s elbow. "You have to. Sarah's gonna get here eventually."
Kiara was right. Sarah was gonna show up eventually. We'll see John B. hopefully soon so Sarah will see him again.
Kiara is trying to push John B. to the boat but she's having difficulty.
Pope stops them and looks to John B., brows furrowed. "You're gonna get caught if you stay here any longer. How will that help Sarah?"
We have all surrounded John B. now. He nods, realizing Pope and Kiara are right. Even though it's hard for me because I know Sarah wants to say goodbye, we have to make sure John B. is away from OBX. That is our first priority.
John B. closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and then opens them again. He's looking at all of us, almost as if he's trying to remember what we look like. I have to keep reminding myself that this is not the last time I'm gonna see John B. Once we find out a way to clear his name, he'll be back.
He nods at me. "Tell Sarah I love her."
I nod, trying not to react to what he's said. I don't think they've said that to eachother yet and I'm sad they can't say it to eachother now.
John B. says goodbye one more time before walking past us and onto the dock. Kiara gives him the key and he waves at her first, then all of us. We wave back and we don't stop waving until he's on the boat and gone, his boat only a small dot on the water.
I can't believe we did it.
I turn to JJ, exhausted. "I can't believe Sarah didn't get to say goodbye."
JJ smirks. "Don't get all sappy on me. We're gonna see him again."
I nod, holding back tears. I'm holding back tears because of Sarah and John B. and how they didn't get to say bye, but mostly because I'm so exhausted. It's been a rough 24 hours and I know it's not gonna get any easier.
JJ reaches for my hand. "Are we gonna talk about my rad macking skills?"
I looked up at him, making a fake gagging sound. "If you ever say that word again, I'll kill you."
I don't know if the murder jokes were appropriate but JJ didn't mind.
"Which word? Rad? Or macking?" JJ sarcastically asks, stepping closer to me. I already know he wants to kiss me again and I'm ready for him to make the first move.
I scrunch my nose up. "Ew. Macking? Just say kissing."
"What a Kook." JJ rolled his eyes, glancing at my lips.
I wanna make fun of him but I can't because something else has caught his attention. He's looking at something behind me. I turn around and almost gasp. Behind us, on the dock, stood Kiara and Pope and they were kissing. Finally.
I scoffed, watching them for a second longer and then turning my head back around. "Wow -"
I can't get a word in because as soon as my head is facing JJ again, his lips are on mine. I kiss him back instantly, my hands reaching up to wrap around his neck.
I want to kiss him deeply but I never get the chance to because we're pulled apart by the sirens.
We look to the grass of JJ's house and we see like two or three black SUV's parking.
"Kiara! Pope!" I yell to them. They pull apart and follow my finger.
Once they see the police, they run to us. They're off the dock in seconds and we're trying to run but it's too late. The police, who I realize now are not police but the feds, have surrounded us. JJ grabs my hand and I hold onto his. No matter what, I'm not leaving these guys. They're my friends now. They're more than that. They're like family.
One of the feds steps forward. He stands right in front of me but he looks at all of us. Deputy Shoupe walks right past us and onto the dock, gun in hand. Once he sees that John B. is gone, he curses for a moment then holsters his weapon. He turns around and storms back to us.
"Where is he?" He glares at all of us. First he looks at Kiara. "Kiara, what would your father say?"
Kiara says nothing, she just holds onto Pope tighter.
Deputy Shoupe looks at Pope. "You're gonna loose your scholarship for your friends?"
Pope says nothing.
Deputy Shoupe then looks to JJ. "Not surprised. You really wanna go down like your old man?"
JJ says nothing. He only reacts to Shoupe's mean comments by squeezing my hand for a moment. I squeeze back.
The Deputy Shoupe looks to me. He looks beyond surprised. "Callie Miller? What are you doing hanging around with people like them."
I glare at Deputy Shoupe. I say nothing, only stare at a man that once use to coach my soccer team when I was younger. Now, this man meant nothing to me.
"Your parents are looking for you. Worried sick. Ward told us you ran off to help Sarah. She's manipulated you into thinking that John B. is innocent." Deputy Shoupe speaks to me but I stay silent. That is, until he brings up John B.'s innocence.
I take a deep breath and then speak. "John B. is innocent." My voice is even and smooth.
Shoupe has an amused look on his face. "I'm sure he is."
"It wasn't John B. who killed Peterkin. I was there. I saw it." I continued to stay cool.
The fed standing in front of me shifted on his feet when I said this. I look to him. His brows are furrowed but he speaks clearly, "Who did it then?"
I gulp. God, these four words were going to be so hard to say. But they must be said. For John B. "It was Rafe Cameron."
The fed raised his eyebrows but other than that, didn't look that surprised. I figured he didn't believe me either. Deputy Shoupe sure didn't.
"Rafe Cameron?" Shoupe laughed. "Why would Rafe want to kill Peterkin?"
My eyes narrowed. "Why would John B. kill Peterkin. She was the only cop that thought he was a good kid."
The fed in front of me sighed. "I've been told the same thing you're telling me now by another girl. That girl's name was Sarah Cameron."
My head instantly turned to the fed. "You know where Sarah is?"
He shook his head. "She left before I could properly talk to her."
I frowned. Where the hell was Sarah then? "Her and I are telling the truth. Why would we purposely rat out her brother?"
The fed is about to speak again but he doesn't get a chance to. Shoupe cuts him off. He's clearly annoyed about the whole escape John B. made and since he knows we won't talk, he is ready to get rid of us and look for John B.
"They're no use to us now." Shoupe says to the fed.
The fed shrugs. "Bring them along anyways. Their parents will pick them up there."
Shoupe looks at me. "Your parents are waiting for you Callie. You're riding in a different car."
My eyes widen. I look to JJ. He's in just as much shock as I am in. Shoupe grabs onto my arm and tips me from JJ's grasp.
I plant my feet to the floor. "No, let me stay with them."
Shoupe rolls his eyes. "C'mon Miller."
"Callie!" JJ yells, trying to push his way through the bodies of cops to get to me.
I look to him. "It's ok." I don't want to cry in front of him.
I see Kiara and Pope fighting the cops as well and I can't help but smile. They think I'm worth fighting for.
Before I can even wave goodbye, I'm thrown into the backseat of Shoupe's car and the doors are locked. The hardest part is watching all of my friends getting put into different cars. Although they're not beside me, I still feel their presence.
I close my eyes. I take a breath. I open my eyes. I'm gonna get through this and find Sarah. I'm gonna get back to my friends. That's not gonna be the last time I'm ever gonna see them.
I keep telling this to myself over and over again as Shoupe drives me to the headquarters.

Never Ran Smooth (Part 7)
Hey everyone! Working really hard to try to update more! Let me know what you think! | Part One | Part Two | Part Three | Part Four | Part Five | Part Six |
__________________________________________________
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
JJ’s POV:
After hours of blaring music and yelling, my dad had finally passed out. This is why Savannah can never get involved with me. I would tear her down to my level. I would just ruin her life. I winced in pain as I brushed against the bruises my dad had given me and roughly packed a bag. I needed to get out of here. As I slipped past my dad on the couch, a wave of rage overcame me. I can’t do this anymore. He makes me miserable. He’s given me nothing. He’s the reason I’m worthless. I shook as I pulled out the gun and aimed right at his sleeping body. I felt tears well up in my eyes and moved away quickly, shoving the gun back into my bag. In the end, he was still my father.
When I got to John B’s there was someone already there. They watched the house from a car as we slipped into the Pogue and took off.
“First, I almost get strangled to death by Kooks,”I started. “and now I'm on the hook for 30 grand. We should just dip.”
“Okay, where do you wanna go? Hm?” John asked with a hint of annoyance.
“Yucatan,” I said, earning a laugh from the boy. “No, I'm dead serious right now. Surf all day, and then we can just live off lobsters we catch with our bare hands.”
“You just wanna leave 'cause you got your ass beat?” he asked, rolling his eyes. No. Maybe if I just left, Sav would be better off. Maybe if I left, my dad would get his shit together. Maybe if I left, everyone around me would get by a little easier. Not only that, maybe if we left I could save John B from becoming like the two guys who were fed to the sharks.
“You didn't see the photos,” I mumbled.
“Think about it. They're willing to kill for the gold,” John B paused. “then it's gotta be out there.”
“One hundred years, people have been tryin' to find this Royal Merchant,” I said raising my voice. “and no one succeeded. And you think you are gonna be the one that actually finds it? When will you get it in your thick skull? If you keep goin' down this road, you're gonna end up just like your dad!”
I felt him shove me. I saw the anger on his face. I watched as he began to struggle with his own thoughts and actions.
“I can't give up, JJ!” he screamed back at me. “The last time I saw that dude, we got in an argument, and then he took all of our rent money and dipped for this Royal Merchant. And then I told him he was a shit father. and you know how the rest of the story goes.”
“Bro, that wasn't your fault,” I said softly. I just wanted him to stop blaming himself for this.
“It doesn't matter whose fault it is, JJ!” he yelled. “Do you not understand that? I can't give up on the hunt, man. I don't care who's out there, who's gonna try to kill us. Do you understand that? I can’t just leave. I get you think you have nothing here JJ, but that isn’t true. What about Pope and Kie? What about Savannah?” I cringed when he said her name. I remember the look on her face when I told her we would never happen. She deserves more than me.
“What would Savannah do if you just left one day JJ?” he asked me. I avoided his gaze. I felt guilt well up in me as I imagined her looking for me. “When are you going to stop thinking you're bad for her and realize how good she is for you?”
His words burned me. They sat in the back of my mind for the rest of the day. I had made my decision to prevent her from being hurt by my lifestyle. Now night was upon us and the Midsummers event was in full force. I was dressed the nicest I’ve ever looked as we pulled the boat up to the dock of the hotel.
“Okay, look, I need you to get this to Sarah,” John told me.
“Ooh! Can I read it?” I asked, already sneaking a peak. “Hold up. Are you mackin' Sarah Cameron?”
“Would you shut up?” he asked, clearly embarrassed. This new information made my stomach churn. He was macking on a Kook and I couldn’t even accept the fact that I might like one.
In the end, I agreed to be his little messenger and sneak into Midsummers. I made it into the backyard and admired the decorations Sav had thought about. She really had a talent when it came to picking out things that sparkled. Then my eyes landed on her. She looked radiant and fresh like the decorations themselves. She was beautiful from head to toe and every single part of me wanted to go up to her and ask her to dance, but then my eyes found their ways to hers. There was her black eye. The one she had gotten while trying to protect me. The guilt began to overwhelm me. Where there was me, there was bruising and hurt, and she wasn’t an exception to that rule. I was a danger to her.
“Hey!” Pope yelled. Thank you for interrupting my thoughts.
“Dude, don't sneak up on me like that right now,” I said awkwardly as he embraced me. “Whoa. Unexpected PDA there, Dr. Spock.”
He looked so distressed, but it made me happy to know he was okay. “But, uh... hey, love you, too, man,” I said while placing a quick kiss on his cheek.
“Did Shoupe do that?” he asked, motioning to my face.
“Oh, this? No. This is-- It's my dad. You know? Has that right jab,” I said jokingly. I didn’t want him to worry. “Can really snap it off at times. It's nothin' that hasn't happened before.”
I explained that we were going to be rich. I explained that John had a plan. And most of all I explained to him that nothing that happened to me was his fault. I smiled as I left him to do his job and went back to the mission of finding Sarah Cameron. As I dodged my way through the crowds I found Sarah dancing with her little sister. I awkwardly slipped her the note and tried to get out of there as quickly as I could, but felt a hand grab mine. It was soft and warm and I knew exactly whose it was before turning around.
“Are you okay…?” her voice was shaky. Princess.
“I’m fine,” I said as I turned around. I heard her gasp and instantly her hand was on my face. I winced in pain and pushed her hand away. She muttered an apology, worry filling her eyes.
“Who did this to you?” she asked. I saw a single tear slip down her cheek. I wanted to reach forward and wipe it away, but at this moment she seemed a million miles away from me.
“Don’t worry about it,” I scoffed. She wasn’t going to let this go though. I opened my mouth to give her an explanation, but was interrupted by the last person I wanted to see.
“I'm wonderin' if you could get me a mai tai, my friend,” Rafe’s voice rang out.
“Grow up Rafe,” Sav said, defending me no matter what.
“You guys look spiffy,” I joked. “You know, uh, I got a couple of orders ahead of you, so why don't you guys just go ahead and wait by the bar?”
“No, we're going…” Rafe started. “help yourselves to hors d'oeuvres.”
Then a guy I didn’t know spoke up. I had seen him around a few times, but never once has he picked a fight with me.
“Guys, JJ's gonna serve us some hors d'oeuvres,” he smirked, but not at me. He was looking past me, right at Savannah. I saw the anger on her face.
“That’s enough Jasper,” she said, her hands balled into fists. “Leave him alone.”
“I'll be right back, okay?” I said. I was going to do anything to get Sav out of this situation before it got ugly. But then they followed me. I ran through the hotel and into the locker room. I sighed and tried to find a place to hide, but there was nowhere to run. Next thing I know, I’m being escorted out by security. At this point I might as well make a scene.
“It's okay, everybody! Do not panic. Leave it to the men and women in uniform,” I yelled as I looked up. My eyes met Savannah’s dad’s who looked disgusted by my actions. It was too late to go back now though. “Let's hear it for them. Rose! You look like Lady Liberty.”
My eyes once again fell on Savannah, who laughed at my joke. She looked like she was building up courage for something. I hated when I was right.
“Let go of him!” she yelled. I watched as she ran up to where I was. “You can't boot him! I invited him here. I'm a member of this club.”
“Savannah!” her dad yelled and marched down to where she was. Kie and Pope followed shortly after. When her dad finally made it to her, he grabbed her arm roughly. She pushed him away and then a sound echoed through the silence. If this wasn’t a scene before, it certainly was now. Nicolas Stryker had just struck his daughter in the middle of Midsummers. “You will not embarrass this family anymore.”
I knelt down beside her, expecting her to be in full tears like at the movies. Yet, there were no tears. No emotion was in her eyes as my fingers guided along her cheek. She pushed my hand away and got up, looking at Kie, Pope and I.
“C’mon…” she said quietly. “You guys have somewhere to be right?”
I grabbed her wrist, making her come with us. The only thought going through my head was: I have to get her out of here. I have to make sure she’s okay.
“If you leave, don’t bother coming home,” he dad muttered after her, but she kept walking. I held her wrist tightly and just kept my face forward, not checking on her in the slightest. If I looked at her, I would be filled with rage at everyone. Is this how rich kids were treated too?
The rain was whipping through the air as we drove to the lighthouse. Kie was arguing back and forth with John B over the Sarah Cameron predicament, but Pope and I focused our attention on Sav. She sat silently, staring out the window even though we weren’t moving anymore. Her knees were hugged into her chest and there was no emotion on her face. I felt Pope nudge me and gesture towards her. I gave him a look as if saying no, but there was no arguing with him at this moment. Finally giving in, I went and sat next to her. I couldn’t bring myself to say anything though. She just sat there unfazed by me. I slowly reached up and moved a piece of hair from her face. God, she is so beautiful. Unable to make the words come out, I just pushed her head to lean on my shoulder. “You don’t need to force yourself,” she mumbled and leaned her head back up.
“I’m not,” I said and placed her head down once again. “I’m just trying to be a good friend.”
She kept her head there and closed her eyes, squeezing them tightly like she was going to cry. I felt her wrap her arms around my neck. Her hot breath against my neck made my heart pound.
“Just let me stay like this for a second,” she whispered, pain echoing inside her voice. She clung to me as if she needed me by her side. What she needed was love and if I gave her that, only bad things would follow. Instead of loving her, I reassured her everything was going to be alright, but even that must have been too close, because John B almost died less than an hour later.

Kermit and Friends: Roasted
Tumblr media
Imagine you're watching a movie about a female talk show host. In the film, an ex co-worker from her past who fell madly in love with her started sending masturbation videos to her email address. The host would then play said videos on her show, with the approval of her former co-worker since he thinks it will bring them closer together.
Fast forward a month or so later, after realizing those masturbation videos didn't have the positive impact on the host as he hoped, the ex co-worker becomes enraged and threatens to chop the host's head off. And THEN, only days later, he calls her show to tell the host she's beautiful over and over again, and invites her out to lunch the next weekend. The host politely accepts.
Ladies and gentleman... this isn't a movie. This is Kermit and Friends.
Eric Riggs made his return to Kermit and Friends this week after we found out he threatened to slice poor Elisa’s head off. His main objective with joining the show was to invite Elisa and Andy Dick out to lunch. Andy was super excited about the invitation, completely forgetting just a month or so before Andy was the one Eric was threatening to kill. Will this lunch actually happen? I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to find out!
Thankfully Elisa had some protection on the show yesterday with her lawyer Dan. After having so many legal and harmful threats sent her way over the last few months, it only made sense for Elisa to lawyer up. However, I don’t think Elisa ever expected that everyone a part of the show would try to steal her lawyer away from Elisa!
It seems like everyone in the Kermit and Friends universe needs or wants a lawyer these days. T-Bob is still fighting his 911 abuse case. Dave Robinson wants to lock his noisy neighbors up. Andy needs a lawyer for all types of things he doesn’t think is appropriate to discuss on the show (God only knows how deep that goes). Barry Boss is looking for a lawyer to sue the Feds. And so on and so forth!
The best part of all this is that Dan isn’t actually a lawyer. No, Dan Jablons is a great actor who once played a lawyer on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Dan was so convincing that he had everyone begging him to represent them yesterday. What a talent! Hopefully we’ll get to see Dan again in the near future.
Elisa was joined by two other very special guests this week: Prodigy Coach Janel Jones and stand-up comedian roaster Alex Hooper.
Janel Jones is a 20 year Army veteran who’s made headlines by raising her son to dominate the stock market game. At the age of 13, her boy managed to hit 6 figures by investing in Tesla options. Pretty impressive!
Since Janel is in the Army and gets deployed in different countries often, she makes the most of her time with her kids when she’s home by developing their skills to be financially independent. Janel has done a heck of a job. If you would like to follow in her amazing footsteps, check out her Parenting a Prodigy course by clicking here.
Alex Hooper is most known for his appearances on America’s Got Talent where he roasted the hosts. If you watch Kermit and Friends regularly, you know how self-deprecating Elisa can be, so of course she loved having a big time roaster like this come on and poke fun at her. Elisa gleefully cracked up at every joke he made towards her. What a sport she is.
Alex was a blast though. His roasting isn’t mean-spirited at all, just lighthearted witty jokes and then he turns into a sweetheart if he senses you’re taking it a little too hard. That said, Alex is a roasting master so he’s not someone you want to trade jabs with. He even wrote a book on roasting called, Roast Yourself To Happiness: A Comedian’s Guide to Finding Joy by Embracing Your Flaws. Click here to order your copy today!
As mentioned, Andy Dick was back on the show this week. He’s still suffering from his broken ankle. If it’s really broken, he’s going to be suffering a long time since Andy just expects it to heal on its own rather than see a doctor.
We found out Andy had to cancel a trip to Las Vegas where he was due to have a meeting with the director of the upcoming film The Birthday Cake, Jimmy Giannopoulos. The thing is, Andy was planning on taking this vacation without his fiancé! You would think a fun trip to Vegas would be even more fun with a beautiful outgoing woman like Elisa by your side, and not to mention what it could do for Elisa’s career if she were a part of these big meetings Andy supposedly had. But alas, karma hit poor Andy with an ankle lock and kept him home, bedridden. What a shame.
While Andy was stuck in bed, he got one of his many roommates, Eric, to show off his paintings. Eric is actually a pleasant artist unlike the other artist Elisa is used to dealing with. If you would like to check out some of Eric’s artwork and possibly buy a piece from him, check out his Instagram by clicking here.
Sigmond once again blessed KAF with his presence, bringing his partner Wappy onto the program. They were supposed to do a duet together but unfortunately Sigmond got cold feet and backed out. Instead, Wappy would do a solo piece that genuinely impressed myself and the entire audience watching. Very talented guy. Check out Wappy and Sigmond’s Soundcloud page by clicking here.
Another special musical guest this week was Rebekah, who was booked by none other than Tall, Dark, and A Handful. She did an absolutely beautiful performance of an original song she wrote called Bygones Be Bygones. You can watch her music video for it by clicking here.
However, not to sound like Gonzo, who is unbelievably infatuated with the person I’m about to mention, but I must say the best musical performance this week came from Mr. Karaoke King himself, Johnny B. He performed a karaoke version of Bobby Darin’s Mack the Knife that had Andy Dick in Heaven as he laid in bed singing along while all of Kermit’s beautiful friends danced to the music. It was a wonderful sight to behold.
You could tell Elisa had a blast during yesterday’s show. When she has fun, everyone has fun. That’s ultimately what the show is for me, so yesterday’s Kermit and Friends episode was perfect. Elisa’s pacing and timing with each guest was flawless, and the show flew by like it was only a half hour long. After Kermit and Friends yesterday, Elisa went on a karaoke bus ride throughout the city with her friends, which you could see on her Instagram stories. The joy on Elisa’s face during those stories, during Kermit and Friends yesterday... that is how I want Elisa’s life to always be. Here’s hoping. 🙏

for Hauntober 2020. day eight: “lantern”
Trevor makes fancy reservations for date night.
"Do I have to wear a tie?"
Frowning to himself in the mirror, Deke adjusted the fabric around his neck again. It refused to lay just so, and he was about thirty seconds away from ripping it off and burning it. That would probably improve the color, too, if he thought about it. But he couldn't do that, not when they had fancy reservations for date night, and his boyfriend had asked him very nicely, with big eyes and the promise of kisses, if he would please dress up, just this once. So he had no choice. He had to wear the tie, even if it was the only one he owned and the color did absolutely nothing for him.
"Yes, you do." From his spot in the doorway, Trevor watched him with a fond smile and a small shade of his head. "You can take it off as soon as we get home, or even in the car after dinner, but you have to wear it at dinner."
He let out a huff of complaint, turning around to look over at him with his frown still pointedly in place. If he had to wear a tie, he would, but he was going to complain the entire time. At least, the plan was to complain through every second until he saw the smile aimed at him, the genuine happiness there, the reminder that this life, this joy, this perfect reality was just that. It was real, and that it was his to keep.
"Okay, fine. I'll wear a tie. Will that make you happy?"
And the wider smile he got in response to the sarcastic question was more than enough to make the temporary discomfort worth it.
-
The restaurant was far nicer than anywhere else they'd had dinner before, and Deke stopped in the doorway just to look around. There were small, lantern-shaped candle holders on every table with minimal electrical lighting overhead, bathing the entire space in a golden glow. The entire atmosphere was romantic, and while that wasn't a bad thing, it was a new experience.
Since they'd told SHIELD about their relationship, they'd expected things to change, but Mack and everyone else had been supportive. Trevor was allowed to not only stay in the area, but also to stay on as Deke's handler, so to speak. It would be easier to keep an eye on what he did when they lived together, anyway, or that was the logic that Yoyo had used to convince Mack that all of the paperwork to make the transfers he was considering wouldn't be worth it. Them being together didn't change the quality of the reports that were sent back to the Lighthouse, not when things with the company were so steady and easy since the random alien attacks had stopped.
With that lack of change came a routine - date night usually included a movie and popcorn on the couch, or a homemade meal, or just sitting together while they scroll through their phones. Life had become so simple and domestic, and seeing this level of effort put into a night that didn't require it was almost overwhelming.
Fingers wrapping around his wrist and giving his arm a gentle tug was all it took to pull Deke back to reality so they could be led to a table, A twist of his arm and he could hold onto the narby hand, instead, something that fed into the warm feeling he didn't try to shake off. For however long it lasted, they could be close and romantic and everything could be perfect. If his luck in the past was anything to go by, he didn't know how much longer it would last, and savoring every second of it was the only solution he knew.
Even the menus set in front of them seemed excessively fancy, the thick paper not protected by any amount of plastic, and he was hesitant to touch them. Everything was nice, and clean, and if he thought about it too hard, he felt bad for even thinking about not wearing a tie. Surely, not dressing in his finest clothes to a place like this would have been grounds for an execution.
"Are you okay?" A knee rested against his own under the table, keeping his thoughts on the fact that they were on a date, not on trial. "I know it's really nice, and it's probably a little weird. We can go, if that will make you more comfortable? I just wanted to talk to you about something, but the setting doesn't really matter. I'll just wave down the hostess, and-"
"Trevor, we don't have to leave. It's fine." Shifting his weight, Deke gently nudged the knee closest to his and let himself smile. It was different from what they were used to, but that didn't make it bad. And then, all at once, his mind caught up with the words that had been said, and the differences suddenly seemed terrifying. Talking about things didn't have to be bad, but if the elaborate setting was for the conversation, then it must be important. Right? Very few important things in their world were ever good, and he tried to run through the worst case scenarios for the one that seemed the most plausible. "Oh my god, you're breaking up with me, aren't you?"
"What? No, I-"
"You're being reassigned, then? I mean, I knew that it would happen, eventually, but I didn't realize it would be so soon."
"No, it's not-"
"Did something happen? Is everyone okay? Oh my god, Nana and Bobo-?"
"Everyone is fine, as of this afternoon, now can I-"
"Is it-?"
"Deke. Close your eyes and put your hand out." He started to move, only to be stopped before he could even do as he was told. "No, your right one. You're anxious."
Taking a deep breath, he made himself close his eyes and put his hand down on the table, palm up. It wasn't a new system, the fingers that gently ran over his skin before slipping under his sleeve, and he trusted his gut - the soft contact against the scar there didn't make him flinch, which meant it probably wasn't going to be a bad conversation, and Deke managed to slowly let himself relax.
"So..." Trevor's voice was low, just loud enough to reach his ears without him having to strain to understand the words, and that helped his current anxiety situation even more. "I'm definitely not breaking up with you, I promise. It's, uh... I've been thinking, lately, about the future, about our future, and we've been together for a little over a year, now, right? That's... a little longer than I think either of us expected this to last." The continued steadiness of his fingers contradicted the hesitancy in his words, and it was his turn to take a deep breath before the touch disappeared for a few moments. "And I was going to wait to do this until dessert, because I was gonna order this lemon cream pie I was reading reviews about, but... I don't think I can actually wait that long. Because you're right. I will probably get reassigned, eventually, and when that happens, when will I have the time to ask this..."
Something was gently set into the still open palm on the table, the weight of the box combined with the velvety feel of it making Deke's eyes fly open. It was hard to mistake the ring box for anything else, even before he really got a good look at it, and things clicked into place - the nice restaurant, the ties, needing to discuss something. And that something was very, very good.
"Yes. Absolutely, yes. You should have started with this."
"You didn't even let me ask..." The candle between them flickered, then, and he lifted his gaze from the still unopened box in his hand to watch the way the undeniable happiness and love shone in his boyfriend's gaze. Between the mimicked lantern glow around them and the warmth that had settled in around their table, this moment was far too precious and perfect for them to need any more words.

As a child, she would live vicariously through the animated stories she preached on the doorstep of a rundown New York orphanage. Her sisters hand was always tightly pinched between her fingers, and alone in a projected fantasy, she would paint the scene. The story always began with a reunion, the description of a women that could walk on water with eyes of pure chocolate.
She ran with her delusions until she was sixteen years old, and the rundown streets of New York reared it's ugly head in her direction. She was a lonely kid, having nobody but her pessimistic chocolate eyed sister to confide in, and even then Daisy wasn't the best listener. She would rather be off with her head in a computer, creating algorithms that could surely incriminate them both, then paying attention to Charlotte as she pictured a day when they weren't orphans.
When the twins were twenty-two, a burning building collapsed and within the madness their eyes locked on the fragile frame of a desperate single father. Neither one of them had expected to be found out by two men in suits just hours afterwards and brought to a plane where their chosen family unknowingly awaited for their arrival.
Being twins did nothing for their similarities, or lack thereof, despite the preconceived notion surrounding same gender multiples. Charlotte was light eyed, Daisy was dark. Charlotte loved the prospect of a screen free life; Daisy spent her days trying to advance technology. What truly set the two apart was their draw to authoritative figures, and lovers.
Grant Ward was not Charlotte's cup of tea, neither was Phil Coulson. She had found quickly that she would much rather be sat in the cockpit beside a stone faced Melinda, than wandering in circles around the jet with an overexcited Coulson and brooding Agent Ward. Growing up, Daisy was the only damage control Charlotte had ever known. It wasn't often the light eyed twin got her hopes and dreams smothered beneath bad news and storm clouds, but she was easily mislead by the world and it's true intents.
When the twins were eighteen, they had been broken apart by boys and loneliness. Daisy vowed to never let her sister fall so far again, but everything had piled up quickly once they joined forces with shield. Grant Ward tried to kill Charlotte. He sent Fitz and Simmons plunging to the depths of the endless ocean. He broke Daisy's heart into a million pieces and months later had the persistence to try and win it back through pity and childhood trauma.
As if that wasn't enough to dampen the happiness Charlotte was finding with Agent May and the Shield team, her sister fell in love again and made friends with a man named Trip who only lived to see the inside of a stone cocoon before crumbling at Daisy's feet. Weeks later, with new combined powers of a hurricane, Daisy and Charlotte faced the monster of a women who had once been an angel with guarded hearts and past trauma locked away. Lincoln was a man who had lived to see the break of day above the earths surface, but like every man the twins had loved before he met an untimely death and left them with more scars to bare daily.
For a while, after the death of Jiaying at the hands of Calvin, the twins returned to their bubble of self protection. Charlotte clung to Daisy, and Daisy turned her attention to computer programing. Nothing got better for them from their, they just lived with the pain they were bound to encounter. Maybe they weren't meant to find stability or content. The life of an orphan was never one filled with sunshine, rather wilting bushes of thorns.
Never did Charlotte think her mother would be circulating the current conversation as a lively variable, but she hadn't expected to be living in 1980 either.
"--Leaving this Mallick unleashed on the world could have irreparable consequences. He's taken control of afterlife, we have to get it back." Daisy and Charlotte walked into the endings of a rant delivered by Coulson, his expression blank as he stared down at the flashing computer console.
Mack nodded in agreement to Coulson's game plan, his shoulders square and frame stood tall as he subconsciously clenched his fists. It was a sight that would have made Charlotte months ago, but that was before they were sent spiraling through space and time and forced to go through groundhogs day which only ended with the death of another friend. "Starting with his hostages."
"And protecting Jiaying at all costs." Coulson nodded to Mack's addition, neither one of them noticing how Charlotte's face fell and she desperately clutched onto the hem of her soft pink shirt. Daisy noticed her sisters apprehension though, shuffling over so their limbs were side by side and Charlotte wasn't left standing on her own feeling less then seen.
"Simmons, can you send our coordinates to her watch?" Mack asked the loyal agent, his dark chocolate gaze fixed and pointedly avoiding Charlotte's devastated features, "On it." The British agent replied with a curt glance at her best friends faces.
"I don't think it's a good idea to bring her here." Daisy stuttered, speaking up for herself and Charlotte after realizing her younger twin was shocked speechless by the rapidly declining turn of events. Charlotte was sweet, sensitive to the purest of indifference. The world was crumbling beneath her feet for the third time, but now neither Fitz or Enoch was their to ground her.
Coulson sighed, but didn't have to think about his response as he looked the twins over with paternal pain in his robotic blue eyes. "I hear you," He began, "but we can't lose anymore parents."
"This is about protecting your existence." Mack fed into Coulson's bullshit excuse, his shoulders still squared and only tensing the sadder Charlotte's light eyes got. She was the glue that held the entire operation together, and seeing her so distraught by the return of her mother who had once been a daydream and a nightmare, nobody wanted to go through with a plan that could potentially cause her harm. Especially not Coulson and May who looked at the twins as their own kids.
"Aside from May and Yo-Yo, Jiaying doesn't know us. We could minimize what we tell her. Nothing about her future, her power, or you, her--"
"Daughters?" Charlotte asked, her gaze twitching between May and Coulson who were breaking beneath the weight of her heavy sadness. Charlotte wasn't a good Agent. Not when the mission was personal, and she tended to always make things personal. She loved hard, and she felt deeply. She could turn her words to lightning, but nothing could stop the shatter of her heart every time the world worked against her.
May's sigh was audible as she looked between Charlotte and Daisy. Her lips were curled downwards, only adding to the black pit that was gnawing at not only Charlotte's nerve but her patience. "Um, Lottie, there's one other thing. At Afterlife, there was a women--"
Whatever May planned to tell the twins was drowned out by the sound of crackling electricity and a strobe of circular blue light. Charlotte gripped onto Daisy's hand, the both of them fearfully turning towards the source of intrusion. Daisy's face was completely blank whereas Charlotte's told a story of a hundred heartbreaks.
"That was fast." Jemma mumbled, coming to stand by Charlotte's side. She noticed the twins interlocked fingers, and how tightly they clung to each other, but now wasn't the time to vocalize how they weren't alone. Jemma knew all to well that in the face of trauma Charlotte and Daisy couldn't help but feel like it was them against the world.
"He's hunting us."
-
"My people need protection." Jiaying stepped forward, angling her body in a manor that protectively shielded Gordon. Charlotte flinched at the sight, not knowing her mother to be a women of such thoughtless heroism. The women she spent sixteen years animatedly dreaming about had turned into a nightmare with a murderous past. She wasn't usually one for grudges, but Jiaying didn't sit easy on her memory.
"Leave that to us." May stepped forward as well, her body not before both Daisy and Charlotte as she squared up to Jiaying. May was short, and it was comical to Charlotte how most people found her intimidating, but she didn't have the heart to smile at the sight of May being protective. She felt sick, to leave it simply.
"I don't know who you people are, and somehow you knew how to find me." Jiaying argued peacefully, her voice level and irritatingly calm. She was nowhere near the same violent women Charlotte remembered, but she still had thirty years of heartbreak and misfortune to become cold and murderous.
"We needed your help." Elena tried to reason from the staircase, her gaze pleading for cooperation on Jiaying and Gordon's behalf. "And then you led that man right to our front door!" Jiaying argued without fault, tone clenched and rightfully angered from her own unknowing perspective.
Charlotte flinched when Daisy squeezed her fingers tightly, bracing herself with the courage to speak up and converse with their mother before she becomes a monster after blood. "We're not your enemies." She tried to reason, "We save Inhumans. He wants to take their gifts. That's how he got his."
"Is that even possible?" Jiaying asked, eyes fluttered beneath the weight of Daisy's words. Charlotte, who was still shaken up and healing from their adventurous excursion shifted between her feet uneasily.
"It is." Charlotte weakly responded, looking towards the floor to avoid Jiaying's shocked expression turned in her general direction. She could feel the strings of a panic attack tightening in her stomach, and she knew the telltale signs were visible on her tense features, but now was not the time to run away and mutter breathing exercises beneath her breath. She's an agent of shield for fucks sake, she can't always run and hide.
"That could kill them." Jiaying turned to whisper to Gordon within the same beat that Yo-Yo advanced towards Coulson and Mack, "If I can get in, I can get them out without being seen. I got my power back - thanks to you."
"And if you get taken, you could lose it again, and then you give it to --" May's argument was dismantled by Coulson's thoughtless proposal, "I'll go. Scout a point of attack. You said 'be me.' This me is disposable, if I get caught --"
"You are not disposable!" Charlotte argued in the same breath as Mack, the two sharing a distraught glance when their eyes met and the weight of Coulson's words brushed against their hearts.
"Recyclable then, minimal risk." Coulson correction, and Gordon stepped forward, accepting the suggestion, "I can take him in."
"I can't allow that." Jiaying counter claimed, her eyes kind and caring as she turned towards Gordon with a look neither Daisy or Charlotte had ever personally received. The twins shuddered visible, their sadness understandable. "It's the easiest way. I know the layout. I'll drop him somewhere secret and then go." Gordon insisted.
Jiaying didn't pose another argument, though her posture quivered as she backed down from Gordon reluctantly. Mack didn't waste another moment though, shoulders squaring slightly, "Alright. We'll fly close in the Quinjet. You and Gordon drop in, do recon, and find the prisoners. Then Yo-Yo and I will go in."
"I'm going with you." Jiaying offered, stepping forward again and closer towards Mack. She was desperate at this point, clearly feeling like the world was falling apart beneath her fingertips. Charlotte wished she could sympathize, but she was overrun with petty emotions and tribulations.
"We need you alive." Coulson argued with a straight face and entangled hands. Daisy and Charlotte had still yet to let go of each others embrace, instead inching impossibly closer as the seconds ticked by and they were still stunned by their mothers soft presence. "Your people need you to lead."
"I have to get her back." Jiaying pleaded. "Kora wont listen to you. Maybe I can talk some sense into her!" Jiaying pleaded, and it was then Charlotte and Daisy noticed the glances being thrown their way. May was tense, breath hitching when Jiaying went off on her protective tangent. Elena was just looking between the women in red and the girl in pink with friendly worry.
"But if she sees you, it can provoke her. A-And then everyone's at risk." May spoke softly. It was a tone usually reserved for Charlotte, the women having a hard time turning off her emotions when in the presence of the younger Johnson twin.
"They're right. We can't risk it." Gordon blindly shook his head, tilting his chin down in the direction of Jiaying.
"I'll stay," Jiaying defeatedly surrendered, "but you have to bring back my daughter."
-
As a child, she had imagined what it would be like to reunite with her parents. She had spoken to Daisy for years about the wonder that is their mysterious history. She was sure they had family somewhere in the world, not wanting to think that they were entirely alone in the world, but she wasn't sure to what extent their bloodline ran. Never had she expected to have both a lively, and murderous, mother and father, or an older sister lost amongst time and unfortunate meetings.
"What the hell, Mel!" Charlotte cried as she followed Melinda May through the maze of computer circuits and paneling. Her eyes were brimmed with hot pools that dared to spill at a moments notice as the gears in her head continued to turn. The women she had just witnessed was in no way the same as the mother she had mourned. "Did it just slip your mind that we have a sister?"
There was a broken edge to Charlotte's question that had May faltering and spinning around on her heels. Charlotte had never been the type to demand answers, but it was clear this particular secret had struck her the wrong way. It was a side of her that nobody at Shield had ever witnessed, and May never wanted to hear that broken edge again. "We were trying not to be swallowed by a time storm."
"Were you purposefully trying to keep us in the dark?" Daisy took over, seeing the dangerous gleam of tears in Charlotte's eyes, "Is this some weird way of trying to protect us?"
"No." May breathed deeply, grabbing at Charlotte's arm and pulling the girl farther down the hallway with Daisy close behind. "No, but Kora is volatile. She already tried to kill your mother."
Daisy sighed, looking defeatedly between Charlotte and the empty space behind the lot of them, "She just never said about a sister, another kid."
"It's possible that Kora wasn't alive." May revealed, watching as Charlotte's face sunk and the tears that had gathered slipped down her cheeks like a river leading to the soft gates of heaven. "When we were at Afterlife, she stole a gun from a guard, and I think she intended to use it on herself. But Nathaniel got to her. I think in the original timeline she --"
"She went through with it." Daisy shuddered, her mind racing back to the moments in New York when Charlotte had been close to the same fate. "Which is why my mom would have left Afterlife to go do charity work and meet our dad --"
"We can't go down that hole right now, Daisy." Mack startled Charlotte as he came up behind the two of them, his eyes softening when he watched Charlie desperately shake the tears from her eyes.
"Let me go with you." Daisy projected the offer, eyes wide and hopeful at the thought of meeting said older sister.
"No." Mack shook his head before walking closer to the twins, "We need you and your mother to survive. You're staying put."
"Don't tell me it's because I'm not 100% because I feel fine." Daisy argued, looking between Mack and May with bleeding desperation, the complete opposite of what Charlotte felt. Then again to reiterate the minuscule similarities, one was dressed in soft pink and the other was clad in black leather.
"You're not going." Mack didn't back down, "This isn't time for that family reunion. We promised your mom we'd save Kora."
"If she can be saved."
-
Charlotte had been less then thrilled to be pulled away from her room by an overly anxious Daisy. She had been laying in bed paralyzed with guilt and sorrow for a few hours, feeling less then alone with the continual chimes of her wrist watch. Her team members were looking for her, and yet she didn't have the energy to face them and plaster a fake smile onto her lips as to not worry them in the moment.
Daisy hadn't told her where they were going, but her stomach was churning with common knowledge. Charlotte should have been over the moon, always having been the one to idolize a day with their mother, but knowing the course of Jiaying's life and having just barely healed from the trauma, she wasn't sure she could do it all again willingly.
"Tell me there's news." Jiaying begged the minute her unhardened chocolate eyes met the approaching frame of her twins. Charlotte was sure her face was blotchy from tears, but she had no standards for how she approached her murderous dead mother who was instead alive and kind.
"I'm sorry, nothing yet." Sousa sadly shook his head, the apology only worrying Jiaying more.
Daisy and Charlotte were frozen, childhood dreams and adult traumas collected in their vivid memory. They weren't ready for this, and yet they had no choice but to take what was given to them by the 1980's.
"I knew this was a mistake." Jiaying sighed, ringing her hands together nervously as her mind bounced between the status of Kora and Gordon. "I never should have agreed to this."
"You can trust us." Daisy promised, cutting off her nervous babble and beginning steps of a familiar pace. Charlotte did the same when she was nervous, and her chest tightened at the thought of what other traits she could share with this version of her unharmed mother.
"Trust you?" She gasped, "I don't know anything about you! And no one will tell me anything." Her voice got softer as she went, chocolate eyes growing sad at the turn of events.
"We just want to help." Charlotte softly broke to Jiaying, "Afterlife is important to us, too."
"You don't know that first thing about it." Jiaying mumbled, truly believing her words because she was equipped with no further proof or memory.
There was a beat of silence before Sousa spoke up abruptly, "They've been there." Charlotte and Daisy looked at him with wide eyes, not expecting him to openly blurt such compromising intel.
"Before your friends showed up we'd never had an outsider find us!" Jiaying argued. Sousa shook his head fondly, eyeing the twins with a smirk that held all of their worth, "They're no outsiders. Go on. Show her."
Daisy and Charlotte breathed in sharply, shaking a glance before raising their respective arms. Charlotte had always favored her left when channeling their powers, while Daisy had taken instantly to her right. With a breath Daisy rattled the glass of water sitting on the computer table, and Charlotte summoned a bolt of lightning from the electrical outlet just beyond. With another calculated exhale she shot the harvested bolt back towards the water, listening to to the sizzling crack as the water warmed and boiled, and a ring of black settled on the rim of the glass.
"The perfect storm." Jiaying mumbled, looking over the twins with astonishment. "Where did you learn that?" She asked, looking back and forth between Charlotte and Daisy with amazement.
"From you." The older of the twins broke softly, "In Afterlife. In thirty years. We're from the future, and I know how that sounds, but its...it's the truth." Charlotte wasn't sure what she would do if Jiaying didn't believe them. It wasn't easy to go along the word of somebody who cries time traveler.
"I, um..." Jiaying looked down, closing her eyes tightly before reopening them and glancing up at Charlotte, "I had a feeling I...I knew you. There's something...so familiar. Your gift, it's a lot like...Nathaniel took that from you."
Daisy and Charlotte both nodded, "It almost killed us."
"It's knowledge of the future that lead him to us, that he used to warp Kora's mind and turn her against me." Jiaying looked down at the console of outdated computers, her kind chocolate eyes conflicted.
Charlotte stepped closer to her mother, fueling Daisy's confidence as she followed. The two had done everything together since they were babies, they'd damned if that stopped now in the presence of their mother. A mother who hadn't even birthed them yet. "Where you close with her?" Charlotte asked softly.
"Inseparable." Jiaying recalled fondly, "She clung to my leg the first three years. Shy, sweet girl."
"What changed?" Charlotte asked softly. Jiaying frowned for a moment, looking over the girl clad in pink. She was so similar to her Kora. Soft spoken, sensitive. It only amplified her feeling of familiarity.
"Terrigenesis. I thought she was ready, but, Kora lost control. There were accidents. The more I tried to help, the more she pulled away.
"That must be hard." Daisy nodded thoughtfully. Charlotte was speechless beside her sister. This was the women she had dreamed about for sixteen years. A women made of fairytales and soft chocolate eyes ready to sweep them away from the clutches of abuse and neglect. This women didn't exist anymore, tarnished by the harsh hand of murder. "Being so close to someone and not being able to reach them."
Charlotte and Daisy had unconsciously grabbed onto each other, standing before Jiaying and Sousa with entangled hands and trembling strength. "That others - they wanted her gone, but they don't see what I do. Kora has a good heart. She's worth saving."
"Well, she's lucky to have you." Daisy smiled softly, wishing that it had been her and Charlotte to experience such a tender and kind Jiaying. She envied the sister who had thrown it all away to feel powerful. "My power has allowed me to live a long life. I used to think it was my greatest gift, but I was wrong. It was her." Charlotte swore her heart stopped beating. Her face fell, the grip on Daisy's hand growing slack when she was overcome with petulant anger and jealousy for Kora. "Um, sorry. Did I say something?"
Charlotte shook her head sadly, "Growing up, we never knew our mom. And when we finally found her, she wasn't who I hoped she would be." Her eyes were glassy as Jiaying stepped forward. Charlotte fought against every natural instinct in her body, not wanting to flinch away from an embrace that had once tried to kill her but was now so sweet.
"She hurt you." Jiaying concluded, laying her palm softly against Charlotte's cheek. There was no forceful pull from deep inside of her. Her powers were still her own and the life wasn't being extracted through the soft contact. Everything about this women was different. "I can't speak to your mothers reasons, but for me, sometimes trying to do the right thing comes out all wrong."
In that moment Charlotte forgot about all the pain knowing her mother had caused. She loved this version of Jiaying, who hadn't been broken down by mass tragedy. It was a side she never thought a monster could wear, forgetting the monsters aren't born, they're made.
-
"Daisy, do you copy? Charlotte come in!"
Charlotte and Daisy scrambled for the walkie-talkie sitting on the computer console, eyes still glassy but hearts not as heavy with thick emotions of trauma. "Mel?" Charlotte answered.
"John Garrett's here with Nathaniel, and they have Gordon's powers. Get Jiaying someplace safe." May instructed, fighting off her own maternal instincts when she heard how thick and scratchy Charlotte's voice was. The poor girl thought she was good at masking how she felt, but she was still a painted cavass uncovered to the public.
"We have to go." Daisy seethed. Charlotte led Jiaying out of the room and down the hall with Daisy at her side, knowing it was better if Sousa didn't follow along. They were already a tight cluster, easily identified because of their numbers, they didn't need to put another agent in danger.
They walked briskly down the hall, trying to get their mother to safety, but that failed when Nathaniel stood in the break of a hallway dressed in his eerie black leather coat. His were tucked into his pocket, feigning innocence, but Charlotte and Daisy took no chances. The twins stepped before Jiaying, arms raised and powers at the ready to strike.
"Don't shoot." Came his monotone voice, hands raised in the air pathetically. Charlotte's eyes crackled with electricity, the soft broke of her eyes overtaken by bolts of white lightning. Charges of manifested energy crack at her fingertips, sending a warmth up her arms and down her legs. "The three of us in here, you want to bring the whole of rivers end down on our heads?"
"Give me a reason." Daisy challenged, while Charlotte just scoffed at Nathaniel. She hadn't the patience to deal with a man as entitled as himself.
"Where's Kora?" Jiaying worried for the safety of her daughter, not knowing that beside her were two of her own creations, "What have you done with her?"
"Sorry, Kora couldn't make it. But she sends her best." Nathaniel played cheekily, stepping closer to the trio who was easily on edge awaiting the next shoe to drop. "And don't you look at me like that. You still have Charlotte and Daisy. Isn't two daughters enough?"
Charlotte's strength faltered for a moment in the face of the reveal, looking over at Jiaying with worry before forcing her eyes back towards Nathaniel to avoid unnecessary heartbreak.
"Oh, you didn't know." Nathaniel laughed menacingly, watching as Jiaying stopped to fully glance at the twins. They were undeniably sisters, but the faint traces of her in their nose and lips was subtle and breathtaking, "Wow, it's like a season finale of Dallas around here."
"I'm sorry." Charlotte whispered, she wasn't even sure if Jiaying could heart her over the tremble of heartbreak in her whispered words. She was shaking her head, trying to rid the tears from around her eyes. Bolts of lightning flashed through her irises, reminding Jiaying fondly of a younger Kora. "What you said about your mother, you were talking about me." Jiaying pieced together, looking horrified by the thought.
"It's okay." Daisy nodded her head, having forgiven Jiaying hours ago. The women she had become was horrible, but it was a result of endless pain and torment. This was the mother she wanted to remember for years in advance. The mother she wanted to be for her own kids.
"I hurt you? But I would never--"Jiaying had tried to find a reason in her mind as to what could have led her down a path of such horrible actions, but Nathaniel beat her to it, "It's actually a riveting story. See, Hydra just cuts you all to bits. You're left for dead, your power stolen. That part, you all have in common now, "Nathaniel laughed menacingly, hardly caring for the violent shudder his words provoked from Charlotte of the single bolt of lightning that zapped past his head and struck the wall. "Daisy grows up alone. Sad. Charlotte tries to kill herself at fourteen. Kind of like Kora. They find you eventually, you're all militant and they're with shield."
"Stop it." Charlotte's voice trembles, her eyes pinched together tightly to prevent bolts of strategized lightning from striking Daisy and Jiaying at her sides. She usually had impeccable control, but nothing was as it should be it seems.
"You're on opposite sides." Nathaniel doesn't stop, not like Charlotte thought he would in the first place, "So you start to drain the life out of them. You almost succeeded with Charlotte too, she just had to save her big sister." He taunted Charlotte, his eyes watching as she overheated, close to combustion from how harshly she was trying to block out the memories. "It's working, you're about to kill her, but guess who steps in to crush your spine. Dear old --"
"Enough!" Charlotte and Daisy plead together. The lights flicker overhead, a bolt of lightning and crack of vibrations shooting out towards Nathaniel and knocking him on his ass. Charlotte was heaving heavily, overcome with a burning desire to set Nathaniel Mallick ablaze.
"Nice Quake! I give it a B." Nathaniel shrugged as he stood from the ground, eyes burning darkly as he stared the twins down. "Definitely room for improvement." He threw his arm out, a concentrated vibration sweeping both girls off of their feet and sending them towards the wall made of metal pipes. Charlotte squeaked as she made contact with the floor, a rim of red soaking through the soft pink of her shirt. "If you haven't done the math, I've had these powers a lot longer then you both have."
Daisy and Charlotte watched from the floor, breathing heavily as their already injured bodies tried to compensate for another harsh force. Jiaying's face hardened at the sight of blood falling from Charlotte's nose. Tightly she wrapped her hand around Nathaniel's neck when he walked past her, draining the life from his body without second thought, "Leave my daughters alone."
"Stay back. I won't say it again." Nathaniel seethed after he rammed his elbow into Jiaying's side and sent her stumbling back into the concrete of the wall. Jiaying didn't listen though, it was never her specialty, and protectively she reared forward in motherly defiance.
"Mom, no!" Charlotte gasped, but it was too late, a stream of angered vibrations was sent towards Jiaying, paralyzing her for a moment before Nathaniel smirked wickedly. Feeling the energy of the room at his fingertips, he summoned a bolt of electricity towards Jiaying. Her neck snapped to the side beneath the vibrations, and to ensure she was dead before the eyes of her daughter he struck her heart with the syphoned electricity.
Charlotte cried out painfully, writhing on the ground beside Daisy in a fit of absolute hysterics. Her fists pounded on the concrete, creating pools of blood that only smeared against her cheeks when she fervently wiped at the rivers of tears falling from her eyes. Echoing shrieks shattered Daisy's eardrums as she watched their mother fall silently. She didn't know what to say whereas Charlotte didn't know how to stop screaming.
"No!" She sobbed over and over again, startling Nathaniel who hadn't seen the girl so broken apart even with his knowledge of the future. For a minute he faltered, listening to her high pitched wails, but all it caused was a wide smirk to play on his lips when he collected his bearings. "Well, I guess she won't live forever. And you won't live at all." He smirked wickedly.
Charlotte and Daisy were overcome with grief, rising from the ground with flickering lights and rumbling floors as their entourage. Charlotte's eyes were encased with a fiery white glow, purple bolts zapping from her fingers and shocking Nathaniel. Daisy was no better, face contorted into pained concentration. Electricity cracked around them, but before they could make a calculated attack Melinda May came to their defense.
A gunshot echoed around the hall, having struck Nathaniel in the shoulder. Charlotte fell the to ground, gasping and crying out for air and for life to return to her mother. May froze for a moment, eyes watching as Charlotte Johnson broke completely, having learned to love her mother too late.
For hours they sat on the floor of the lighthouse, hands entertained as their mothers lifeless body laid in their embrace. Her eyes were a light chocolate color, void of any emotion. She never lived a life of murder and manipulation. Never was ripped apart and used by Hydra. She was an innocent claimed as collateral. She was an Inhuman, an ally, a mother.
She had once been a mother whose daughters had loved her too late.

Mack walked out onto the bleachers and instantly found Jo, who waved enthusiastically with a big smile on her face. Mack sat down next to her and pulled out her lunch and looked around. She quickly spotted Kai sat with a group of the football boys, including Ben. Kai has quickly become popular due to his cocky and outgoing personality and his sarcastic humour. Kai said something that Mack couldn't hear and all the boys erupted into a manly fit of laughter, throwing their heads back and clutching their sides. Her sight shifted slightly to the left where Mack saw a group of the popular girls, who sat with resting bitch faces braiding each other's hair and applying more makeup. They were probably gossiping about the boys to their right or Mack and her mystery new best friend. All of a sudden the girls burst into a wicked laughter and all glanced over at Jo and Mack in-turn. Mack scoffed and rolled her eyes, not believing she used to be a part of that group.
It had been two weeks since Kai had driven Mack home from the diner and since then her and Jo had only grown closer, sitting with each other at lunch and hanging out after school when Mack wasn't with Ben. Mack's attention was turned back to Jo when she asked:
"Hey, I was wondering if you'd want to come to mine for a sleepover this Friday?" Jo said before taking a bite of her sandwich, looking at Mack kindly. Mack's expression perked up, the thought of not having to spend time with Ben.
"That would be great, what time should I head over?" Mack said excitedly. Jo waved her off and finished her mouthful.
"Oh don't worry about that, I'll have Kai take you home from school. Although I'll have to meet you back home because I have to go pick up my little brother and sister from school." Mack nodded and frowned.
"I don't want to be any trouble." She replied. Jo shoo her head.
"Not at all, Kai will be happy to take you and I'll be less than an hour. I'll have Kai make you a snack when you get in or something." Mack nodded slowly before thanking Jo and taking a bite of her banana she had been peeling.
As Mack and Jo chatted Jo patted her on the shoulder before pointing in front of them at the group of boys.
"Look!" She spoke as Ben waved Mack over. Mack blushed and Jo winked at her before pushing her out of her seat and towards the boys. As Mack walked down she noticed the popular girls glaring her down over their sunglasses. She rolled her eyes and kept walking.
She reached Ben and he grabbed her hand, pulling Mack down to sit next to him. He kissed her cheek and rested his arm over her shoulders, bottle of water in the other hand.
"Hey babe."
"Hey." Mack spoke back, trying to hide her fear. She caught Kai's eye and he winked at her, but Ben luckily didn't notice.
"We need you to help settle a bet." Ben began. Mack slowly nodded, urging him to continue. "I bet Parker over their that girls prefer being on the bottom rather than the top. I'm right, right?" He said, pulling her closer into him as he talked.
"I, um-" Mack started but Kai interrupted.
"Speak the truth, Kenz." Kai said with a smirk, knowing she'd probably just agree with Ben.
"W-What did you guys bet? Why do I need to decide?" She asked nervously. Ben and Kai chuckled.
"Because, if Parker over here wins," Ben said pointing towards a grinning Kai, "he gets to kiss you, and if I win he pays me 50 bucks." Ben said with a smile.
"So, who won babe?" He prompted further.
"W-well I can't speak for everyone, but most I know prefer to b-be on t-top." Mack stuttered out and Ben was instantly shot a triumphant smirk by Kai.
"Damn it!" Ben said and took his arm from around Mack's shoulders. Kai stood up and pulled Mack to her feet.
He slammed his lips to hers, wrapping an arm around her waist and cupping her cheek in his hand. His lips were soft and warm and Mack was shocked to find herself kissing back. She held onto his shoulders for support and Kai pulled away almost too soon. Damn, she thought, now I hate you even more. She hated the fact that she liked it, wanted more, craved another.
Kai smirked at Mack before stepping away, leaving her dizzy and confused.
"I-I should get going." Mack almost whispered before scurrying away.
"You do that, sweetheart!" Kai called after her, the sound of the boys all laughing following her. She earned the jealous looks of the popular girls, all wishing they could have been there.
~•=~•=~•=~•=~•=~•=~•=~•=~•=~•=~
Friday rolled around and Mack was sat quietly in first period, doodling in her sketchbook. She looked up as Kai walked in, laughing at something his friend just said. He shot something back and his friend feigned offence before they both sat down, Kai in his usual seat next to Mack. He crossed his ankles with straight legs and picked up his pen, fiddling with it. His friend threw a paper plane at him and it landed on Kai's desk. He picked it up and threw it towards the teacher, who turned around with a scowl as it hit him in the back of the head.
Chalk in hand he glared at Kai, pausing his writing on the board. Kai put his hands up in surrender and held back laughter, a smirk on his face. His friend was in fits of laughter, clutching his side and hitting the table with his closed fist. The teacher rolled his eyes and went back to writing, used to the popular boys' shit.
Mack rolled her eyes too, turning her focus back to the half-finished drawing of Jo in her book.
"Hey, what's got you so down?" Kai said sarcastically to Mack. She huffed.
"Oh just that I have to sit in a car with you later. Alone." She said snappily.
"Ooooh, Kenz is angry todayyyy." He mocked, poking her cheek. She slapped his hand away and he laughed leaning in to her. "You know I like pretty little things with sharp tongues." He whispered in her ear, earning a scolding look and a smack on the arm from Mack. He pulled away muttering, "O-kay."
Mack reluctantly climbed into the jeep as a grinning Kai opened the door for her. He walked round to his side and climbed in, pulling his seat belt on and looking at Mack.
"Put your seatbelt on, we don't want to to get hurt now do we?" Kai said with a fake pout and Mack rolled her eyes and put her seatbelt on slowly.
"Ugh, whatever Parker." She said with attitude. Kai whistled.
"Parker?" Kai asked while laughing and Mack shook her head.
"What would you rather me call you? Dick? Asshat? I've got options." Mack stated dryly.
"You've got an attitude today, princess." He chuckled before putting the keys in the ignition and starting the car.
"Don't. Call. Me. That." Mack said through gritted teeth, trying to keep focus as Kai rested his elbow on her seat next to her head. It made sense when he looked over his shoulder, reversing out of the space with ease. Kai's flexed bicep right next to Mack made her bite her lip before she shook the thought from herself, she hated him - why did he seem attractive to her?
Kai suppressed a smile at how Mack had bitten her lip and kept driving, glancing at her every once in a while with a goofy grin. After a while Mack got fed up and snapped.
"Will you stop that! I can't think with you grinning at me like that!" Mack said loudly, throwing her hands up annoyed. Kai chuckled.
"Struggling to think about how mind blowing our kiss was? We can do it again if that would help." He smirked at Mack and she hit his arm. Kai laughed at her and Mack stared him down for a moment before bursting into laughter too, throwing her head back again the head rest.
"She laughs." Kai remarked and Mack shook her head.
"This does not mean I like you." Mack said sing-songy while waving her finger at Kai.
As they pulled into the Parker drive way Kai stopped the car and unbuckled himself, climbing out the car and walking around to Mack's side. He opened her door and smiled at her, snickering as she rolled her eyes and grabbed her bag.
"I can open my own doors, Parker."
The sound of Kai laughing followed Mack as she walked up to the door of the Parker house and opened the door, knowing it'd be open from the few times she'd hung out with Jo after school before. She walked through to the kitchen and dumped her bag on a chair, Kai following close behind and throwing his books onto the kitchen counter.
"Would you like a drink? A snack?" Kai asked before reaching up to a cupboard and grabbing a couple glasses.
"Sure, just some water please." Mack said, suddenly nervous. Kai nodded and filled the glass with water, pouring orange juice into the other presumably for himself. He slid the water to Mack and she picked up the glass, downing it in one.
"You should do shots, I'm sure you'd be great at it." Kai remarked, seeing how fast the girl chugged the liquid. Mack rolled her eyes and Kai winked, taking a sip of his juice.
"Jo should be back around four, so what do you wanna do?" Kai said with a suggestive smirk.
"Not talk to you, that's for sure." Mack deadpanned, pulling out a chair and putting her sketchbook in front of herself. Mack heard shuffling and assumed Kai was making something to eat. After a few minutes her suspicions were confirmed when she heard the toast pop out of the toaster and saw Kai lathering a slice with jam out the corner of her eye.
Kai's hand rested on the table next to Mack as he peered over her shoulder, holing his toast in his free hand. He took a bite before asking,
"So what's with the sketches? You never seem to be doing anything else." He said with a full mouth, watching Mack intently as she kept drawing. Mack sighed before answering.
"My family isn't exactly rich, my sister had to skip college and the only way I can go is if I get an art scholarship."
"Oh." Kai said before lifting his hand from the table and pointing to the page. "Is that Jo?" He asked before taking another bite.
"Yeah, I thought I'd give it to her for her birthday." Mack said over the noise of Kai's obnoxious chewing.
"It's amazing. I could honestly mistake it for a photograph." Kai walked over the the sink and brushed off his hands on a tea-towel after taking the last bite of his toast and downing the last of his juice. Mack stood up and picked up her glass from before, filling it up again from the sink. As she turned around and leant again the counter Kai reached past her, leaning his body into hers slightly.
Mack's breath hitched at their closeness and caught herself staring at his lips, then his eyes, then his lips again. After a second he pulled back with something in his hand and a sly smirk on his face. After realising the effect he had on her, Kai put down the object - which turned out to be a pager - and leant on his hand in the same position as before.
Mack swallowed thickly and tried to avoid Kai's eyes, knowing if she looked into them she'd most likely break. Kai's lips brushed her ear.
"Do I make you nervous, Kenz?" He whispered, the smirk on his lips obvious through his tone. She gulped and nodded slowly, bringing her eyes to meet Kai's. He placed a few soft kisses on her neck before pulling away and walking back slowly with an amused expression before holding up his hands and walking out the door.
The sound of laughter entering the house snapped Mack out of her confused and dazed trance.
"Mack!" Jo called before sending Liv and Luke on their way.
"I'm in here." Mack called back just before Jo walked into the kitchen.
"Hey."
"Hi."
"How was Kai? I hope he wasn't too bad." Jo said sympathetically.
"K-kai? H-he was fine." Mack said quickly and put on a smile. Jo nodded and they headed upstairs to Jo's room.
A few hours pass and Jo sat in her bay window cross-legged with a cute pillow in her lap whilst Mack later on her front on Jo's bed with a pillow under her stomach and propped up on her elbows.
"So have you and Ben..? Y'know.." Jo prompted with a smirk and a raised brow and Mack's eyes widened. She picked up a near-by pillow and threw it at Jo, who held her hands up to cover her face and caught the flying object. Both girls erupted into fits of laughter and Jo continued. "What?!" She exclaimed through the giggles and Mack buried her face in her hands before looking back up at Jo.
"Yes." She said before biting her lip and blushing, looking away.
"What! How was it? Was he good?" Jo bombarded her with questions through the laughter and Mack went bright red, nodding shyly and Jo's eyes widened.
"Holy shit! When?"
"A few weeks ago?"
"Have you-"
"Not since then, no." Mack said abruptly, shocked at this side of Jo.
Suddenly a loud knock sounded on Jo's door before it burst open immediately after. Kai stood there with a disappointed pout and Jo rolled her eyes.
"What were you expecting? A pillow fight in our underwear?" Jo said sarcastically and Mack shook her head whilst holding back her inevitable laughter. Kai put a hand on his chest to fake offence before saying:
"Actually, yes. Yes I was, Josette." He grinned at her and Jo threw the pillow at him that Mack had thrown at her earlier.
"You're such a perv Malachai, get out!" Jo shouted with a giggle and Mack instantly burst into laughter. The twins both turned to face her and Kai raised a brow, waiting for an explanation as to what was so funny.
"Malachai? Josette?" She said through laughter, kicking her feet as tears of joy escaped her. She wiped them away and Kai lobbed the pillow at her.
"Hey! It's not like we named ourselves!" Kai laughed.
"You can't say anything, Malachai. Josette is no where near as bad." Jo stuck out her tongue at him and Kai gave her the finger before backing out the room but leaving Jo's door open.
"Shut the door!" Jo yelled.
"Do it yourselves assholes!" Mack could hear being shouted back from the stairs. The girls kept laughing and Mack dragged herself off the bed, heading over to the door to close it. As she reached out to shut the door Kai jumped out and screamed:
"BOO!" Making Mack jump three feet in the air and scream bloody murder. Kai clutched his side and leant forward as he laughed, starting to cry from the laughter. "I got you so good!" He exclaimed before wandering off to his room.
"Dick!" Mack called after him as she shut the door, turning to Jo who was still giggling girlishly.

『 aron piper. twenty three. cismale. he/him. 』 oh heavens, is that NIKOLAI SCHMIDT from CHESTNUT DRIVE i see roaming around mapleview? minnie may’s always calling them -ABRASIVE & -PESSIMISTIC. i happen to think they’re not that bad! they’re a pretty cool FIREFIGHTER and every time i’ve seen them, they’ve always been +ECCENTRIC & +FREE SPIRITED. i hope i see them around again! 『 mack. 20. gmt. she/her. 』
coming from virtually nothing in the city of new york, it was no surprise to his peers when nikolai turned to a street gang to survive what life had become. born to a young teen mom who was scared, alone, and also not living in the best part of town, her grandparents coaxed her into giving her first born up, for a better life or whatever lie she needed to tell herself to go through with transaction. that’s how he’ll forever see it, like a drug deal. she handed him over and that was that. he’s never met her, nor does he want to...anymore. nikolai gave that up after his ninth birthday party, the theme was ninja turtles and of course she was a no show. he couldn’t wrap his mind around the fact she truly wanted no contact with him whatsoever. when he finally accepted that his life in the foster care system was the luck the universe dealt him, it was like a switch flipped.
the sweet, caring, curly headed boy who once had a twinkle of hope in his eye was gone. his bubbly naive outlook on life was ruined and he shut himself off emotionally for his biggest fear is getting attached to someone, needing them, and then being abandoned again. because of this, he joined a street gang at a very young age as a way to fill the void he has concerning family and belonging. don’t get me wrong, nikolai was a sweet kid but, he had to survive somehow and his baby face wasn’t doing him much good in the popularity department. he was an easy target, emotional, and vulnerable. weak. Rafael, the leader of the gang took him under his wing of some sort, protected him, fed him, gave him a place to sleep when he didn’t feel like being cramped in his foster parents home while they foster more kids than they’re supposed to at one time. in return? all nikolai had to do is sell a little weed, what’s the harm in that? it’s not like he’s a murderer. that’s how he sugarcoated it so he could live with himself. anything else the gang was involved in? that was none of his business and as long as he continued to mind it, he thought he’d be safe.
all of that changed when his best friend was murdered and died in his arms due to gang violence. nikolai spiraled farther down the wrong path and like a miracle, his biological father tracked him down and reached out to him. at this time, nikolai was sixteen and had never thought much about who his father was. his mother had given him up, he assumed his father had down the same. since he was still in the foster care system, it took time but eventually nikolai ended up being reunited with his father in mapleview and now resides in chestnut drive as a firefighter.
he can come off as emotionally distant and isn’t the best with making friends. part of him still lives like he’s in survival mode because he witnessed his best friend’s murder and often looks over his shoulder expecting the killer to find him and make for certain he will never tell. he can be paranoid, introverted, but also is very eccentric and authentically himself when he does express his personality (he is bisexual though that’s not something he advertises, it’s sort of just like ‘if you know you know, if you don’t then it isn’t your business to know’ he’s very private in general and doesn’t just offer up intimate details of his life, but he doesn’t go out of his way to necessarily hide his sexuality, he just doesn’t think it’s something that has to be spoken on). somewhere deep down is still that little boy with hopes and dreams and if you dig deep enough, you may be able to have a breakthrough with him.
he’s calmed down from his chaotic, disruptive past life and has built somewhat of a healthy relationship with his father since being in mapleview. new york city is a lot different than the small town but he’s grown to like it (though he would never admit that to himself) and has become a firefighter to satisfy his need for a good thrill and risk of safety that he’s used to from the gang life.

Leviticus, Chapter 23
1. Substitute day, and a return unto A sender of something, as to another place, That hasn't the wherewithal to get there either; I will open it again and learn That which is already known to be such As isn't so much.
2. And it's not mine, but a, And is the right way round. For as I set the seasons, I reprise, reply, replay; It's substitution day.
3. And Sabbath is the seventh, Whence the lord, in all thy dwellings, Is up for doing nothing; Or Sabbath is the sixth; I don't care.
4. And welcome to my channel, It's great to have each of you still with me- A man who speaks of people By their purpose, Himself as his own singer, With- such are the seasons, Even, holy convocations, For want to be sure of a constant, It's Senhal, An obscure term For an old friend.
5. Love, love, lo, this is not Of a cloven love, Leviticus, I will speak of it Unto sundry strangers and neighbours, As just one more month's dusk Then it'll be passover, Not once. Not twice, Not once. Love. So we can still imagine a time When all of this will go again;
6. But a day will approach When, if there is something That can look back, Could think that 'here' and 'then' Are really very close;- And I wonder if they saw The strings of direct attachment, Lining their behaviours; Just flour and water, But I don't think so; Still, anytime was closer to history than this one, So what do I know?
7. If I were to put the onus On to the impossible, Then what was light-hearted and playful, Would be wont to become ridden and surly; Lord, being an influencer is a serious endeavour, For how many unsuccessful oblations are there That are out there? Lo, state your appreciation; Don’t just wing it. Plan it out in kalends, Of which are reckon'd to be backwards; so, To start, do nothing.
8. After a week, Let's go- Gift your influencers' grift, For, when you so do this, It strokes the ego of the flames, Who then add unto the savour of sacrifice, Thus, get me it up; Make it smolder, Then, use its fatal nature To activate the future.
9. And simple: These are nacks, To muster control Over gods; Are junk and have been; That we all have interest vested- Let ignorance of it control Hereafter, same, so anon and amen.
10. Crowdsplain- First fruit the priest Hard and long, Find the tunnels, Writing what's impossible For the brain to conceive, That it may then be read back of, To supplant and supersede; So become possible.
11. And thither, the Wheatchief Will wave the sheaf Tomorrow- See how it goes? Ol' Cathode Ray, and Non-mathmatical aesthetic identities, The spirit of the radio take her.
12. That once the sheaf And all the while Be specific unto thy niche- Nativize unto thy platform, For, the experience shall follow The rhyzome's swerve and function, So that the user-expectation be wrought From whence the contents be placed- In this case, Add in a lamb shank ponzi scheme to my platform; Smells wonderful.
13. So unto the titular character, Exerting such low level leverage as Begetteth me of an ephah cake, And a quarter hin of wine; I don't need the free stuff, I am a successful influencer, But shouldst you want me to advertise for suckers On my platform that I have built myself for free; Well, we're all getting along so good.
14. Then it's me first, And simple: see- That our boldest endeavours, And most exciting adventures- They have not yet even begun; That, in spite of all the detritus, In the teeth of all that we've done, my boys, I tell you: The best Is yet To come.
15. Then, 49 days later, Seek whence Thought might come in sequence, And I'm really so blessed and thankful to you all for being here; So, as thought comes  in sequence And thus, it wasn't known where We are going here as we begun. O tensions, retensions- I use to used to run.
16.  Know, influencers, I am the hype; So on-brand that I can give unto you, And through you, the trick- Pyramid that still stands For the thousands- Round it up; So nice.
17. And, super relevant- Optimize continuously, also, Compensate me handsomely; while Sacrifice may seem like a quick-success marketing strategy, It isn’t so. Such are the things that keep not happening; More food please.
18. Lots more, This is why the burden of proof for rhetorical claim Shall falleth shortly As among the Open Wounde who should maketh of such a claim; It is not upon the world to provide him a fallacy, But he, who's to prove the world its truth; which, Across all channels, He, rerewise, hath been completely unable to do.
19. So suffer him his own precarity; And then some; Think back to when, Twirrup twipip,-pwiwip, Suwee, psu, swoo swsoo, So sweepeth they in song, As we, quiet, Through our blossom comedown, That hideth our tiny singers, And the bulgence behind the wiltage, In the verges, Be of burgeoning seed.
20. And everyone wave; All this- so good as is it to be; And though under a hail Of black tormentors, Our torment, And through its over-drone, With no one remembering it happening, But, who'll remember the photograph?
21. Sit back; You've lost everything, So lo, olah, you remember how mother died- Bringing cow parsley into the tent of meaning; For she went by the umbels as we'd walked on the plain, And they had reminded her of those lace cushions That her ladies-in-waiting had carried, And so gave them the name.
22. Embassadors, Leave thy corners to disillusion; A true influencer ideally keeps doing What they genuinely gain of a passion for. They know their value and their need is not to shew it, So spend a lot of time reading news and sharing opinions with others online. By buying-up dozens of potential plots, They help to plot the exodus to less, And stake an astronaut over the shape of a woman. But politics isn’t about the weird worship of one dude, So his words became their actions.
23.  Is it worth your time To try and ignore that, if, What you are listening to Is  the most effective form of advertising- A babbling of a technique That hath impostulated language, Then, should things go well, We may even be able to rend a cross-paracleation With phantom trust-collaborators, Interested in guest-posting for backlinks and exposure, Thus, marrying into micro-influencers, And so tap into our y.
