typical monday meal prep. made seasoned rice, bok choy, and chicken. later in the week i’ll make some fried rice w high protein tofu from trader joe’s. also got 3lbs of kiwi for lunches this week 😋
feeling beefy today, weighed in at 142.2 lbs. not gaining as much as I want but also not losing so that’s great. plus my lifts have been going well and my muscles are growing so I know I’m on the right track 😊

Over 100 lbs down, counting macros- I even round up most of the time, and look: cocoa puffs, oreos, doritos, and half a donut 😂 Oh, and "wmsm" is my short-hand for "wal-mart sandwich" because their half-subs do be slappin'.
pretty naughty by my own standards, but I stayed within the parameters I set for myself, and gym is Monday lol. Point being, if you're feeling deprived, ya doin it wrong 🍩😋

I got a calorie tracker today, and I’m really fucking hoping that it doesn’t turn toxic for me like the last one. I’m trying my best to not look at the calorie section at all and just focus on the macro portion which is what I got it for. I’m not hitting nutrition goals and I know that, but I can’t track easily on my own. I just really fucking wish they made a tracker that doesn’t count calories. Having to check lables that have calories on them is hard enough for me as it is, let alone seeing everything I eat compiled into a little bar/ring with numbers. Anything over 1000 makes me panic and given the fact that you aren’t supposed to go under 1300 at any given time that really isn’t healthy.
Only plus side is that it lets me scan nutrition labels so unless I’m logging something without labels at all I can sort of avoid looking at any of the numbers until the macros have been calculated and put into their own sections for me to look at.

People on the internet: you should just listen to your body and eat when you're hungry :) My body: My body: My body: Me: why do I feel so weak and irritable

Going to the gym works so well as a coping mechanism because you can trick your brain into thinking you're self destructive because of the pain but instead you're actually just getting healthier and stronger

people on ig will be like "ED recovery looks like this <3 [picture of a woman with well-defined muscles followed by 4 screenshots of apps that track every single thing she eats & classifies it in a little colour wheel of carbs-fats-proteins]

does anyone know of an app thats actually good for tracking macros? Calorie counting is not something I'm interested in- I can't do restrictions, ED history- and finding something with a good focus on macros has been difficult

the best advice i can give to anyone who wants to start exercising is to do what works and is fun for you. i started going to the gym last year after consistently doing home workouts and i was pretty good about it, but there was always this lingering guilt (if i didn’t go) and anxiety (about being Perceived) about it. i think a lot of it had to do with the reason i was going to the gym (body modification) and pressure from outside forces like fitness influencers on TikTok. i think to really make movement a permanent part of my daily life, i had to release all of those expectations about how fast things were gonna change for me and the reason why i worked out. i’ve been pretty consistent now about working out (yoga, dance via Just Dance or classes on YouTube, and short dumbbell workouts from my girl MadFit) and i feel so much less stressed about working out. i also had to transform my mindset from “i’m working out to look a certain way” to “i’m working out to show gratitude to all the bones and muscles and tendons and organs and everything in my body for how hard they work to keep my alive and functioning 24/7”. you really have to personalize movement to not only what feels right for your body, but also to what feels right for your soul. now i’m gonna start hiking within the next two weeks and i’m so excited because i love walking period but walking in nature????!!!!!! i hope i can strengthen my body and become more in-tune with the earth in doing so :-)

I measured my body fat percentage today using tape and the US Navy method. I am currently at 29.4% body fat. I honestly think I underestimated how bad my body composition had gotten.
Tumblr media
I'm still waiting on my calipers to arrive, but I think the US Navy method using tape is definitely accurate. It was a wake-up call for me to see that the ideal body fat for my age is 18.6%, and the body fat I have to lose to reach my ideal body fat percentage is 14.3 lbs.
It was definitely confronting, but also reassuring in the sense that I knew my body didn't feel as good as it used to, and regardless of others insisting I am completely fine I really am not as healthy as I can be.
My back hurts due to the excess weight around my chest, and my feet hurt/I get fatigued easily standing up for long periods of time.

It's weird to be thinking about weight loss and dieting in a healthy way. Like I'm not losing weight by fasting or starving myself, but I'm meal planning and calorie tracking so I can keep eating three full meals a day. Just slightly smaller and more balanced meals than I used to.

So I am aware that I don't eat a lot of things that scream protein but damn, keeping track of my macros in the last few days I'm thinking how much protein I don't have! I'm at the end of the work day, just dinner and maybe a snack left for food, and only 13g of protein when my goal is 120! WHAT.
Sometimes I get the idea in my head that tracking every single thing means I'm going to care way too much and it'll turn obsessive and yada yada, but each time I start tracking again I start realizing something new. Usually it reminds me that I'm not eating enough but now I'm shown how much is lacking in these areas and it's wild. This is why tracking is/can be important (note to self). This is how we (me) start intuitively eating. You don't know what you don't know til you know it.
