Fallen and Christmas Lyon's relationship with Fomortiis makes a lot more sense after i saw someone argue that those are versions of Lyon from after he died in Sacred Stones, meaning he now knows Fomortiis' weaknesses and can blackmail him into working with him by threatening to tell everyone else about them too

It doesn't really hurt Lyon's base game characterization if his Fallen and Christmas versions are basically just Sacred Stones AUs where he gets ressurected with his mind still intact after dying and, as such, knows Formootis' weaknesses much better than he did the first time and can blackmail him with said knowledge imo

meaning he now knows Fomortiis' weaknesses and can blackmail him into working with him by threatening to tell everyone else about them too

FE8 makes it clear that everyone knows, from Natasha to Joshua, from L'Arachel to Rennac, that the Demon King fears the Sacred Stones who can seal him.

Hell, it's basically that continent's lore told in the opening roll.

What makes Fomortiis the Big Bad is his inablity to be killed, and his power to seduce, I mean, manipulate people around him, even if he's stuck in a rock.

Fomortiis' main power is to corrupt, not to throw giant fists around : as long as he is around, even as a rock, he can still wreck havoc and doom the world.

This is what happened with Lyon, and how he got a new host - despite everyone around telling him to not to mess with the shiny rock, because Fomortiis tempted and lured him.

"Seal him in a rock!" is as secret as the knowledge that you can prevent slugs from eating your salads if you throw salt at them in FE8, but FEH tried too hard to rewrite Lyon in a character he was not in FE8 (for marketing purposes? To make him look cooler than his original incarnation?) thus, it's basically a retcon.

How long is your roleplay experience? Does playing A Bug's Life on the playground when I was 5 count? If not, I started with rping HP characters with my friends when I was like 11-12 over MSN after school and whilst there have been breaks it's something I've always found myself coming back to.

How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? As above, I made a couple of friends on (unrelated) forums and we all just thought it'd be fun.

What is your favorite time of year and why? (Season, holiday, general period) Summer. I hate the heat and humiditiy but once there's no daylight the seasonal affective disorder bass boosts my chronic mental health issues and it's just a bad time really.

What is your IRL occupation? I've gone back to uni to study Law :)

What Fire Emblem games have you played? I've attempted to play every game except 1/2/3/5/11, although I've really wanted to play Thracia I just *need* some QoL updates and controls. I haven't finished every single one because of lost/deleted saves and stuff but I've watched playthroughs and read up on scripts on everything I haven't actually played myself.

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) I like writing dialogue and characters bonding but I'm starting to like more action oriented scenes too.

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write this one day”? For Mercedes in particular I get excited to write her steel and strength, especially when it's combined with her gentleness rather than opposed to it.

Present or past tense? I tend to default to present in TOA but usually past tense. I'm flexible though and will try and match my partner.

Normal size text, small text, no preference? I actually find small text easier to focus in on and read (I can find normal a bit too cluttered and it can send my eyes wandering lmao) but I'm perfectly happy to use normal text, it just takes me a bit longer to comb through.

Got any potential muse delusions to share? 😉 I can't see a shake up happening soon but... Zephia or Chloe are probably forerunners. I've thought about Palla and Astrid too but I'm not sure if I can see the longevity. Also Neimi, Myrrh and Rodrigue have sparked.... ideas. Hey, regarding the if fire emblem humans and dragons are evolutionarily close:

I'm very sure it's mentioned in at least one fire emblem game or manual or something that the wyverns evolved from dragons who didn't get the sickness or choose to become manaketes so either where i got that from is wrong or the in-game history books have it wrong or something.

Also, wouldn't that mean that the beast races are in the same boat?

(Please don't interpret this as me saying you're wrong or being accusatory im not sure how to word this but i'm just curious)

according to the good wiki, it MAYYY be the case that some archanean wyverns are actually degenerated dragons that refused to become manaketes, though i can't judge the certainty of that statement without playing the archanea games myself (which i seriously should do, goddamn), but in lore of games after that, you don't really see any relation at all

like games taking place in other worlds have manaketes and degeneration to some extent, but the relation between manaketes and wyverns in those is not specified iirc? like elibe, fates, lythos, magvel, tellius, you get it. lore is the same for a lot of things but old archanea lore isn't the be all end all of everything.

tldr i cant really judge that without going through every single game ever. probably shadow dragon and mystery.

i would say the beast races are in the same boat, yeah! there's no reason for them not to be, after all. somebody also brought them up in the tags, and it's a good thought.

if ye olde humans were capable of shifting their forms to become dragons, who's to say they didn't shift to look like other animals, too? the wolfskin make the most sense here, as wolves and humans developed symbiosis pretty early, but the other species like taguel and kitsune also amount to "turn into a Huge Thing to punch your enemies dead."

it's funny to think that ye olde humans were just like. predisposed. to change into other stuff. maybe like four different human settlements all figured out the magic shapeshifting trick independantly and just kinda winged it. looking at the laguz specifically here lmao

ONTO THE AUS! There's a few different ones :D

1. There's like 5 different aus that are something along the lines of "the cursed lance breaks and Valter goes back to normal (somewhat)". They have different endings, one includes him helping to rebuild Magvel post war and spending years trying to make up for the damage he did to Eirika, Ephraim and Cormag, another has him joining Renais and Lute absolutely obsessing over him trying to figure out how the curse worked, another has him fleeing and using a fake name after Vigarde tried to have him executed for becoming "soft and useless". There's a lot of different stuff :]

2. Ok so there's this woman in awakening (I have not played awakening) called Aversa. I made an enemies to lovers au with her and Valter that takes place a year pre story. Valter is sane but Vigarde gives him the cursed lance as a science experiment and Aversa has to suffer watching her bf slowly go insane and then try to kill her. It ends with her panicking and doing wack magic on him. The curse is gone but he's lost all his memories and doesn't have any fine motor skills. He still loves Aversa but is extremely scared of magic and doesn't understand why. I actually wrote this fic but stopped after 9 chapters because the part where he tries to kill Aversa made me really sad.

3. I forgot what the last one was because remembering the Aversa one hurted me a little.

Forde was enjoying his time at Garreg Mach. After everything they’d been through in Magvel, he’d needed a holiday. And yes, this was far from the total relaxation he’d dreamed of, but it was the next best thing. He attended all (well, almost all) of his classes, doing well enough to not need supplementary lessons. He helped out with the class missions, doing as much as he was expected to (but not much else). 

All that, good food, decent dorms, good company, and enough free time to nap and paint, when he fancied it. He couldn’t imagine how anyone could dislike it here. 

Today had been a great day. The morning classes were stuff he already knew, or didn’t need to know. The afternoon classes ended earlier than usual. Forde had retreated to his room to take a nice nap, and woke when it was already dark. After a nice meal (he made sure to thank the staff for staying open so late), he stood outside the dining hall, admiring the view. A small light emanated from the greenhouse, silhouetting a variety of exciting plants. If he stood in the right place, the light reflected on the fish pond, illuminating the small ripples on the surface. Above it all, the stars shone bright in the sky. It was beautiful. 

So beautiful in fact, Forde hurried back to his room to grab his drawing materials. In the dark, he didn’t trust himself to set up his easel without disaster, so he decided to rely on his sketchbook and pencils to capture the scene. 

He had been drawing for… time escaped him, maybe it had been half an hour, when he noticed another presence. Forde recognised the boy as someone he’d seen maybe once or twice. The name escaped him, but the ears didn’t. 

“Hello!” He called out, with a friendly wave. “Lovely night, isn’t it?” Made better with company, perhaps… “You’re also from the golden deer, yes? I’m Forde.” 

Taguel Behind Schedule

Yarne was not liking Garreg Mach. How could he? Threats of death were everywhere. Extinction looked like a more common risk here than it did even in the age of fighting against Grima. And that terrified the Taguel. So... what do you do when death is around every corner, and you are the last chance for your people to live?

You run.

Yarne had hid a lot during his time in the Shepherds. He had run away from battles, from allies, from enemies... a lot. But, he knew he couldn't exactly leave the monastery... then where would he go? He knew nothing about how Fódlan was geographically. So, Yarne had to think of how to run, without... actually running away. That was turning out to be harder than expected.

The monastery had a ton of hidey-holes. unused halls, halls reserved for the clergy, entire abandoned wings of the monastery, there was a lot there. Yarne even found a dark, and he means dark, section underground. But that looked like it poised even more trouble, so he left it be. At the end of his searching, he decided that... his room was best. He heard rumors that another student with similar worries of attack was allowed to just hide away in her room, so, Yarne figured, why couldn't he just do the same?

Yarne decided on his plan. He would hide in his room. He would stay out of everyone's way. He would attend the lectures he needed to, and gleam the rest from his textbooks. Now to learn how to read Fódlan's written language... oh Naga, this plan was flawed.

But, for the most part, it went relatively well. Stockpiling food was hard, but not impossible. Learning Fódlanese is harder than he thought it would be, but not impossible. But, as a taguel, staying in a "manspawn's den", as his mother would have put it, put Yarne into even more of an antsy mood. So, gulping down, Yarne decided that a late night walk could cool his nerves, trying to pick the safest paths in the late night paths of Garreg Mach, and hopefully not run into anyone...

Is it stated that Fallen!Lyon's blackmail material is just that Fomortiis can be sealed inside the Sacred Stones? I thought it was some other, unspecified, weakness about either his demon form or his possession powers that could be used to defeat him and which he only learned about thanks to his time being fully possessed by him

If it's actually just the thing everyone in Magvel knows for a fact already, then yeah, that's a dumb retcon lol

The only weakness that Fomortiis has which was specified in FE8 are the Sacred Stones :

That's why he's starting a way to destroy them all.

So unless FEH hinted that something - not existing in FE8 itself! - exists and is Fomortiis' kryptonite, I'd say he's talking about the Sacred Stones.

Granted, that line was dumb to begin with, it's easier a shallow "look I know that water is wet!" retcon, or some nonsensical "but akshually there is another way to defeat him, that was never mentionned before in the source material, that will never be mentionned in this gacha spin-off but will be hinted at to make this character look like he can finally have the upper hand over the one who ruined his life!" shit.

If you have a shonen protagonist's willpower, you can shake off Fomortiis.

Sadly, that wasn't the case with Lyon - by the time FE8 happens, his spirit is already gone (let it be in the Ephraim or the Eirika route!). So unless FEH!Lyon's knowledge is to be strong-willed as Latona once was, before Fomortiis starts eating your soul, there's no secret method to get rid of the dude or secret weakness of his.

Which is what makes him a truly fearsome antagonist - Fomortiis can't be killed, but can still kill by being trapped in a shiny rock.

It's peak illustration of "madness lurking in the hearts of men" can bring ruin, because this thing will forever exist to prey on people, even sealed in his stupid rock. Let it be in 2 years, 800 or 1782 years, Fomortiis will most likely still find a gullible or despairing dude willing to offer him his soul/body in exchange for "power".

It was the burden of great people to be eternally subject to the hungry gaze of the public. This exchange: notoriety for nigh constant observation was the closest L’Arachel would ever come to any sort of infernal bargaining, and she endured the trade with her usual poise. After all, it was imperative that her name resound from all four corners of the land! 

As such, when her admirers first began to encroach upon her precious time, she had thought little of it. This was evidently the natural progression, the inevitable conclusion of prolongued exposure to her splendid visage. Frankly, she had almost been offended that swathes of the enamoured masses hadn’t began to emerge sooner! She supposed that her arrival’s inopportune coincidance with some of the worst weather she’d ever had the displeasure of experiencing was more of a distraction than she’d anticipated. Now, it seemed finally, the students of Garreg Mach had come to their senses. 

For a time, she had basked in the rays of their adoration; revelled, with perhaps a bit too much gratification in the flushed cheeks and shy, tremulous fascination. But, the moment she realised this adoration was one that would almost always be done from a remove; hunched over opportune corners - pedestal-esque yearning, that could only love from afar - the whole affair lost any enticement. She had no time for bated breath and surpressed ardour. These hands that reached for her, but never touched, that shyed away from her like her skin was corrosive… it was a feverish reverance even the most devout of Rausten’s church couldn’t produce. And, to her increasing frustration, any attempts at assurances of her mortality (hard, she knew, as it was to believe) were met with blank nods, glazed eyes that somehow held their focus onto, and looked through her at the exact same time. 

Eyes, that were a bit too dialated for her liking, now that she was dwelling on the topic.

Whilst admiration, love, respect, and all the many accolades she was worthy of were not abnormal, she was certain that there was something malicious behind this blind esteem. The time had arisen: she must put her almighty intellect to task and find the root of the issue! 

Whilst not qualified in any way, shape, or form - denied a chance of taking on what this land called Reason magic, under Uncle’s care because of apparent concerns of “irreperable damages” - to formulate any sort of experiments, the idea tickled L’Arachel.

It did not please her following, who were currently trailing after her, and doing their level best to prevent any affordance of isolation. In her efforts to be rid of the mob, she found herself outside, near the stables.

‘Ah, what do you know, this looks like my next class! Farewell!’ She yelps, sprinting for her way out. Slamming shut the door to the stables, there is an immediate richochet of knocks, voices crying out for their darling Princess.

Were she not horrified, she might have been flattered.

Okay, a small part of her simpered ever so slightly under the attention. She could only linger on this for so long though. There was no denying she was a mighty personage, but her arms were straining to hold them off. Plus, she needed time to do all the stuff she saw mages in Magvel do. Make (what had Lute called them?) hindpotmesses? That didn’t sound right, but she would work on it with fervour.

Glancing frantically around for something to hold the door shut, her eyes land on a man tending to one of the horses. ‘Aid me! I have experiments to perform!’ She declares, her eyes gleaming at the prospects such experimentation entailed.
