I’ve been really feeling awful mentally, and I’m beginning to wonder if this may be because I’m not cleansing myself of maisma regularly. out of curiosity Is there anything to support that spiritual dirtiness leads to exhaustion?

New Songs written and composed by Papa Emeritus V.
Dawn of the New
Anti-Christ
Cult Of Carnage
Description:
Sei Emeritus stands at an impressive 5’10, her skin (or what is seen) is a very pale ivory. Her eyes are mismatched, one green and one white (the signature ‘Emeritus Eye’) Her black hair is always kept short and slicked back, as to not catch on her fancy papal robes or mess her papal make-up on. She is a healthy weight; however, this is something Papa Emeritus V asked personally we do not disclose her weight or anything to personal.
Achievements: Much like her Zio Copia, Papa V has wracked up quite a few musical rewards for the Clergy. However, she has also wracked quite a few acting rewards to, appearing in TV shows (out of her Papal robes and makeup) under the persona Selis Jane Smith. The Clergy used their influence to manipulate people to believe this persona, and the lie.

Cult Of Carnage
Verse 1:
In the shadows we gather, the sinners of the night.
Unveiling our true essence, bathed in unholy light.
The moon shines upon us, as we dance with delight.
With crimson desire, our hearts take wicked flight.
Pre-Chorus:
We thirst for blood, the sacrificial feast.
In the depths of darkness, our wicked souls released.
A symphony of blasphemy, we sing our devilish hymns.
In the Cult of Carnage, the eternal night begins.
Chorus:
Bloodthirsty souls, chanting evermore.
Satan's children, forever to adore.
In the Cult of Carnage, our spirits intertwined.
Embracing darkness, leaving righteousness behind
Verse 2:
We walk the path of shadows, seduced by the abyss.
Embracing all the sins, the pleasures we cannot resist.
Our hearts, black as coal, as we dance under the moon.
The Devil's whispers guide us, in this unholy commune.
Bridge:
Worshiping the Master, in rites and mystic rites
Serving the infernal fire, as we walk these unholy nights.
Sacrifices offered, to awaken Lucifer's embrace.
In the Cult of Carnage, we revel in our sinful grace.
Chorus:
Bloodthirsty souls, chanting evermore.
Satan's children, forever to adore.
In the Cult of Carnage, our spirits intertwined.
Embracing darkness, leaving righteousness behind
Outro:
As the dawn approaches, we retreat to the shadows' embrace.
With a taste for blood and darkness, never to be replaced.
In the Cult of Carnage, our thirst forever will remain.
Bound by Satan's chains, in his unholy domain.
Sanguinaria
(Verse 1)
In the nightshade's embrace, I wander alone.
Through the shadows of sorrow, where darkness is sown.
A crimson tide flows, a haunting symphony
Sanguinaria, my mistress, beckons me.
(Pre-Chorus)
Beneath the moon's pale light, we dance in secrecy.
An eerie serenade whispers through the trees
From crimson lips, she sings of love and despair.
Her voice, a wicked charm in the midnight air
(Chorus)
Bloodstained Serenade, a melody divine
A symphony of anguish, where souls intertwine.
In the depths of the night, where secrets reside.
Sanguinaria's seduction, no mortal can hide.
(Verse 2)
Her touch like velvet, yet cold as a winter's breath
The taste of copper on her lips, a lingering caress
Her eyes, like rubies, piercing through the night.
Sanguinaria, the mistress of eternal delight
(Pre-Chorus)
Beneath the moon's pale light, we dance in secrecy.
An eerie serenade whispers through the trees
From crimson lips, she sings of love and despair.
Her voice, a wicked charm in the midnight air
(Chorus)
Bloodstained Serenade, a melody divine
A symphony of anguish, where souls intertwine.
In the depths of the night, where secrets reside.
Sanguinaria's seduction, no mortal can hide.
(Bridge)
She calls to the lost souls, the forsaken and forlorn.
Binding them with crimson chains, forever to be reborn
Her touch, a sweet temptation, a symphony of sin
In her embrace, we find solace, where darkness begins.
(Solo)
(Chorus)
Bloodstained Serenade, a melody divine
A symphony of anguish, where souls intertwine.
In the depths of the night, where secrets reside.
Sanguinaria's seduction, no mortal can hide.
(Outro)
As the moon fades away, she vanishes without a trace.
Leaving behind a longing, a desire that cannot be erased.
Sanguinaria, the mistress of our endless night
In her siren's embrace, we find our cruel delight.
Anti-Christ
Verse 1:
In shadows deep, where darkness dwells,
The Anti-Christ, his tale foretells.
A wicked prophet, with eyes of fire,
He whispers secrets, stokes the desire.
Pre-Chorus:
Illuminated by the moonlight's glow,
Serpents dance, as his power grows.
He lures the masses, with unholy charm,
Unveiling salvation, in the name of harm.
Chorus:
Lucifer's reign, upon us falls,
Unholy tempest, as darkness calls.
The Anti-Christ, his venom spreads,
Leading the lost, with twisted threads.
Verse 2:
A symphony of shadows, cast in the night,
A diabolic covenant, conjuring fright.
He deceives the faithful, with words disguised,
Unveiling the truth, obscured and revised.
Pre-Chorus:
In sacrilege and ritual, he finds his might,
The Anti-Christ, the bearer of blight.
He orchestrates chaos, with wicked glee,
Unfolding a world devoid of mercy.
Chorus:
Lucifer's reign, upon us falls,
Unholy tempest, as darkness calls.
The Anti-Christ, his venom spreads,
Leading the lost, with twisted threads.
Bridge:
Oh, the faithful lament, as they crumble and fall,
Enslaved to the shepherd, leading them all.
In shadows they gather, bound by his lies,
Enraptured, consumed, as their hope slowly dies.
Solo
Verse 3:
In the depths of his heart, malice breeds,
Betraying salvation, fulfilling dark creeds.
The Anti-Christ revels in his disguise,
A mesmerizing figure, behind blasphemous cries.
Pre-Chorus:
He plots with malevolence, his kingdom unveiled,
A symphony of darkness, where all who doubted are impaled.
In the wake of his arrival, souls shall burn,
As the Anti-Christ descends, all innocence spurned.
Chorus:
Lucifer's reign, upon us falls,
Unholy tempest, as darkness calls.
The Anti-Christ, his venom spreads,
Leading the lost, with twisted threads.
Outro:
Beware the whispers, the serpent's tongue,
For in Lucifer's reign, salvation comes undone.
The Anti-Christ's symphony, a clarion call,
An era of darkness, where angels fall.
Dawn Of the New
In the depths of shadows, where darkness roams
A celestial whisper, a harbinger unknown
From the ethereal abyss, a new age dawn
Unveiling mysteries as the light decays and is gone.
Beneath the smouldering moon, the serpent coils
Its serenade of venom, reviving ancient soils
The day's demise, a nocturnal command
Awaken the fallen souls from the eternal stand.
(Chorus)
Dawn of the new, arise from the depths.
The serpents entwined, as darkness resurrects.
A spiritual awakening, a phantasmal embrace
The rituals begin, in this newfound space.
Revel in the shadows, beyond the mortal's sight
In the realm of the enigma, darkness ignites.
With chants and incantations, a sacred rite
We summon the dawn of new celestial might.
Oh, the spectral figures dance as the night prevails.
Cloaked in obsidian robes, where silence hails
Phantasmagoric specters, spirits of the lost
Guiding us through the ancient paths that tempests have crossed.
(Chorus)
Dawn of the new, arise from the depths.
The serpents entwined, as darkness resurrects.
A spiritual awakening, a phantasmal embrace
The rituals begin, in this newfound space.
So, let the unholy congregation sing.
In unison we commune, souls set to take wing.
Through the arcane hymns, a doorway shall arise.
To the realm of the serpent's dawn, where evil never dies.
(Bridge)
Enshrouded in this mystic mist, we seek the divine
Anointed by the shadows, transcending mortal confines.
Embrace the serpentine whispers, let them guide the way.
To a realm beyond the stars, where darkness forever plays.
(Chorus)
Dawn of the new, arise from the depths.
The serpents entwined, as darkness resurrects.
A spiritual awakening, a phantasmal embrace
The rituals begin, in this newfound space.
With the rise of a new dawn, the serpent's kingdom reborn
Unveiling the mysteries that the light has always scorned.
So, join the ghostly congregation, as we serenade the night.
Embracing the dawn of the new, forever in our sight
Secret Info: Papa V has found many songs her Zio Copia wrote. As he was the one to really raise her, she keeps these faded pieces of parchment and reads them over singing them in different ways. Most of the songs are about grief or regret of losing Terzo and his other Fratellos.
Sei never knew her Zio Primo or Secondo, and only ever heard about them in passing. She was also mainly raised by her Zio Copia, due to Terzo being seen as reckless and unfit. If he been careful, she would not have even been born, as she was the result of a drunken orgy that the Clergy (aka Terzo) held monthly.

Some notes for 'on the wrong side' story about Ryuuji and Renzou.
The experimentation doesn't go very well.
Ryuuji just gets wings and tail feathers. He could probably learn to fly(?). Nothing else changes though. He can still be infected with maisma. His wings look like they are on fire in certain lights but really they just shimmer if taken care of correctly. He does found out he can heal just as quickly as karura can. He got his wings and tail after the rescue. Will he get more as time passes...maybe. Maybe not. He has no control over fire and it can still burn his skin.
Renzou stays human. The experimentation doesn't work on him. He has a lot more scarring now though. He got cut opened to test yamantaka's healing ability. It was tried multiple times to fuse the two together with no success.

Soooooo, I've written some shit once again. This time a bit of confrontation between my sona and Pariah Dark.
TW: there's some gore and other kinda violent stuff like electrocution in this one lads.
"Pariah Dark, King of the Infinite Realms, Conquer of the Ghost Zone, so many long titles and yet, all you're called now is... disgrace~" Kimera said wickedly at the chained ghost before her. The once feared king of ghosts stood before her now,  stripped of his power and chained down in a dark room deep within the Observants palace. Powerful magic enchanted chains kept his feet bound to the ground. His hands were lifted above his head chained to opposite walls. The king was bound and not getting free anytime soon...which irked him to no end. His toxic green eyes followed the female ghost as she flew around him in slow lazy circles, teasing him by getting close suddenly, just out of his reach.
"You horrid wench, you dare come here to mock me, you do know that even tho I'm chained, I do have some range of motion. Careful with your actions or you might not leave this place in one piece." He threatened
Kimera scoffs
"Pff please! I'm not afraid of you, not anymore!" She says stopping infront of him, a few feet away just to glare him down.
"You have no crown,no ring, no power!" She roared grinning
"Just the way it should be."
Pariah rolled his eyes.
"If you weren't afraid, you'd come closer." He taunted
"I'm not afraid but I'm also not stupid." She remarked instead flying upwards to gently slide her fingers over the chains that kept Pariahs hands chained up.
"Ah, these remind me of the ones you used to keep all those poor ghosts chained in the mines, for all those sad miserable years." She said baring her claws and scraping them down the chain making a horrid noise hurting both their ears, not that she minded.
"You forced them to mine for coal in order to fuel your fire spirit royal guards..." She stated, recalling the events as she scraped her claws lightly over the chains.
"They made a formidable army along with your skeletons."
Pariah grinned marveling in memories of old.
"I know, I was almost unstoppable, until of course... YOU riled up the ghosts to riot and fight back." He snarls.
Kimera shrugs
"You had them in deplorable conditions and let many fade locked up down in those mines."
"They deserved it." Pariah retorted
Kimera glares at him.
"Why? Because you didn't like them? How powerful they could become due to having an obsession? Were you afraid they'd become too powerful if not under your iron fist?" She huffed
"Pariah Dark fears no one!" Pariah roared
"The Infinite Realms belong to those who are born from it. Spirits that come forth from the maisma of the zone itself. Not from puny souls of dead mortals. They are a pest to this once beautiful land, now invaded by those... thingsss" he hissed
Kimera flicked her tail angerly.
"You had ME chained down there too! Not only are you racist but also a hypocrite. The Infinite Realms are for everyone, for those born from it or made into it by Lady Death herself! Do you also wish to go against a high spirits will?! The will of the goddess of death herself??!!!" She growled at him.
Pariah glared at her.
"Lady Death was foolish to allow such a thing. It was a mistake." He said looking at her condensingly.
"And you, you're hardly a spirit yourself. Infact I'm not even quite sure what kind of beast you could be classified as. What ever dark void you spawned from did quite a shitty job with you." He snarked.
To this Kimera sent an electric shock through her claws, down the chain directly into Pariahs body.
Pariah hissed loudly as the current filled his body with a horrid burning sensation.
"You wicked hell spawn!! Since when do you control electricity??!!" He screamed,  gasping for nonexistent air as the current stopped.
Kimera chuckles
"I've grown a lot since you last saw me Pariah, I've gotten more powerful,  learned new abilities. I'm not just a spirit no more." She said as her eyes shown brightly with power.
Pariah looked shocked and cowered for a second before snarling.
"They really ascend anyone to godly status now a days huh?" He huffed.
"And they let just any fool rule the Ghost Zone back then huh?" She retorted.
Pariah pulls on the chains a bit as he snarls
"Infinite Realms! That is the one and only true name!"
Kimera rolls her eyes
"Yeah yeah whatever," she says running her claws on the chains again
"Oh, how the tides have turned. How does it feel to be were I once was. Chained up and helpless?" She asked tauntingly, soon flying around him again. She flew close to the chains holding up his arms and tugged at them a bit, making Pariah swing from side to side a bit.
The ex king snarled
"WOULD YOU STOP THAT!? I SWEAR ONCE I AM FREE AGAIN, YOU WILL BE ONE OF THE FIRST I MURDER!"
Kimera stopped and laughed
"Haaaahahaha!! I don't think you understand the position that you're in PD." She says flying down to him,a bit closer this time.
"You're trapped here for all eternity, but even if you got out,  you'd be stopped. Not only have I grown but Danny as well. So I just suggest you stay put. Who knows? Maybe if you're good, you'll get put in a comfy cell instead of this dump you're in now." She said looking around bored.
"The eyeballs couldn't even give this place a little huzzah for the ex king of the zone." She chuckled.
Pariah huffs but smirks.
"Just you wait, one day I'll be free again. I'll get rid of those who wronged me, those who betrayed me. I'll reclaim my throne and mate once more ruling the Infinite Realms and restoring them to their former glory!" He said with a crazed gleam in his eye.
Kimera blinks.
"Mate? You?! I'm sorry, but you do know Clockwork wants nothing to do with you anymore. He hasn't since like... the first time you took over??!" She said.
PD huffs
"Hes just being stubborn! He can't see that what I'm trying to is the best for the Realms. But he'll come around eventually. I know he will."
Kimera put her hands together taking a deep breath before pointing both her hands at PD.
"How do I break this to you?" She asked herself
PD looked over confused
"What do you mean?" He asks
Kimera rubs her hands together
"Soooooo like... Clockwork has like... moved on... with someone who is not you." She says watching PDs eyes go wide in shock.
"Yeah he's in a good relationship with someone who does love and care for him and not just wants to use him for power." She finished.
"Oh! And they also have kids." She said adding more salt into the wound.
PD was silent for a bit. He just looked at her as if she just grew a second head or something that shocking. Kimera was surprised he was silent for that long.
But the scream that followed that silence shook the whole palace to its core.
Kimera covered her ears, curled up through the duration of the scream. She peaked out from behind her tail as the scream faded to nothing.
"You... you done?" She asked
PD snarled at her
"How dare he?!!!!! How dare he just move on after all we've been through?! What happened till death do us part??!"
"Well first off...." Kimera said pulling some chips from her cloak.
"You're already dead so I don't think that last part applys.
Second off, like,it's been thousands of years dude Clockwork has the right to move on.
And third off, most importantly," she said munching on some chips.
"You fucken committed several massive war crimes during your rule after he specifically begged you to just NOT do all the shit you did. I'm not even gonna list how much you fucked up cuz we'd be here for years if I do." She said quite annoyed at this point.
"Like, I'm honestly genuinely surprised you thought he'd come back to you after all the shit you pulled. You're quite dumber than I thought." She said crossing her arms huffing.
PD snarls at her.
"Well if he won't come back willingly, I'll take him back by force!"
Kimera scoffs
"Good luck with that! You ain't never getting outta here! And CWs new mate could kick your ass from here to Jupiter and back!" She said leaning in close, her nose almost touching his.
"You never learn Pariah, things don't revolve around you! Its over! You lost fair and square! It's done! You can't just take what you want consequence free, so just drop it and stay here reflecting on all the bad shit you've done and mourn over what could have been but never will be!" She growled at him.
She'd gotten too close.
Pariah smiled wickedly.
"I've nothing to learn but to try harder next time I invade so I can take back what's rightfully mine!" He said suddenly lunging forward and biting down hard over Kimeras nose and ripping it off growling gleefully as she screamed in pain.
Kimera brought her hands over her face howling in pain.
"YOU BASTARD!!! YOU ABSOLUTE BASTARD!!!" She roared as her ichor dripped from her face, golden liquid spilling all over the floor.
PD smirked spitting out her nose in disgust. The appendage landed with a small thud and soon dissolved into nothing. It would grow back later.
PD looked over at Kimera ignoring her insults. He licked some ichor off his lips grinning darkly.
"Do me a favor and give my dear Clockwork a messenge for me will you?" He said in tone dark enough to make Kimera pause her raging fit to listen to him.
PD bared his teeth in a nasty grin.
"Tell him that his lover is coming home soon~." He said throwing his head back to laugh. "Tell the Infinite Realms to prepare! The king will return to take his rightful place on the throne with his queen by his side! As it should be!"
Kimera snarls flipping him off before flying off. She quickly flew out of the palace and twords CWs tower. She didn't believe Pariah Dark would escape,  but it never hurt to be prepared... just in case.

Pegasusmon, because he's the Digimon of the week!
One; I'm just gonna assume that they saw Takeru and Patamon getting chased by a Fangmon and Sora didn't just like being hidden in Komondomon's fur for whatever reason
Two; lol Patamon is dead
Three; and how is Joe not dead, I mean he is being swung around by a Blossomon upside down, why does he have the worse luck?
Four; and while Joe is on that position, Mimi over here is having the time of her life with a bunch of Gotsumon watching a boxing match between Togemon and Golemon. And this isn't a "hey I want to eat you" battle this is solely just for fun
Five; at this point I'm not even listening to what ever Koushiro has to say about the real world, it's really always the same thing
Six; and Patamon is dreaming about angles, which means Lopmon. I'm happy to see Lopmon again and wondering can she sense Patamon's dismay? It does seem to be revealed that Lopmon isn't the Holy Digimon alongside Patamon and Tailmon
Seven; "who is it? No I know who it is, I just can't remember" You'll remember buddy! You both were a Celestial Angle! Also Lopmon patting Patamon is cute
Eight; Patamon voice is so cute ಥ‿ಥ
Nine; "the light of hope to brighten the world" I hope that sentence will be more relevant later on since you know, it's the little ones crest and their partnered to the holy digimon
Ten; while Takeru tells Patamon that flying is like swimming and he'll stay by his side (which is such a cute moment) the others just watches intensely
Eleven; oh, so now they get affected and hurt by explosions and they were able to stay on their Digimon while they were being thrown around by a bigger stronger digimon
Twelve; so Seraphimon got sunk into the maisma after the war and got corrupted into ShadowSeraphimon but then he remembered Takeru and got purified but devolved into Angemon. Now we really needs a couple of flashback episode during and after, maybe even before, the war
Thirteen; and Pegasusmon! Aesthetically, Pegasusmon does make more sense for Patamon to evolve to than Angemon, but I like Angemon better (as you can clearly tell) but this does make me worried that we wont see Angemon for a while, especially since we are already half way through the series and he still have his ultimate and mega form to evolve into
Fourteen; how did Takeru not throw up, or fall off? Pegasusmon literally went upside down dodging attacks and done a dozen front flips has a attack. And I am also disappointed that Garudamon and MetalGreymon helped him finish him off, like I know it's only one attack but I wanted to see his wing shooting star attack
Fifteen; haha Sora and Taichi looks like a married couple
Tumblr media
Sixteen; the next episode is called "Hikari of Dawn" and I thought this was supposed to be called "Light for Dawn" which got me thinking, did they mistaken Light for Hikari? Since you know Hikari is Light in Japanese
I am hoping my SkullKnightmon is Tailmon theory is right, and I think the next episode will prove if it is or not (or if it's DarkMaildramon who is Tailmon). Hikari looks pretty creepy in the preview (rewatching the preview now and I'm exaggerating) and the full translated preview did say that Hikari gets absorbed into SkullKnightmon (yes, you heard me right, absorbed) and Taichi tries to grab her hand but she pulls away and willingly absorbs into SkullKnightmon, which makes my theory more plausible

Your stories brighten my day and your blog always cheers me up, it’s like a safe haven in this global fuckery 😌 I’m especially happy that you’re part of the ace community as well, it’s so great to read fics from ace writers. I don't hear it as often as you might think and each and every time is treasured. It can be really hard to get through the day when there's this sort of pervasive maisma of distress so I'm completely honored you feel like you have a safe space here! We gotta find those places of peace, even if we gotta carve them out ourselves.

I am low-key kinda dreading where you’ll take this, but anyone with #43: dying.
>:)
His death was slow. Slow, long, and painful, because what else would he have?
Homeostasis had given him longevity. Homeostasis had not given him immortality.
This difference was this - Duftmon, Omegamon, Magnamon, Examon, LordKnightmon, Dukemon, Craniummon, Dynasmon, all of them were naturally born digimon. All of them had hatched and grown up without influence of a human.
The difference was this - Zeromaru was born from a human V-pet. His lifespan was so incredibly short compared to theirs - if not for his Ulforce, then he would have died several years ago. It was the only thing from keeping his data from falling to pieces then and there, the only reason why he hadn’t died years ago when he should have not lived past one.
Though, that was not really the case, was it?
Zeromaru was dying. Tactimon had been a formidable opponent - oh, what a glorious battle, even without Taichi there as it had been for millennia now - but his blade had been sharp, and quick, and deadly. and Zeromaru had slipped up and then he couldn’t see -
It was not until after he had been thrown into the human world, with a Spadamon and a Lunamon and a Coronamon, three children to be protected, that he realized that his Ulforce had been disabled. Surely it was the blade - nothing else could have a maisma that produced the effect.
He had tried to be positive, but as the months wore on it was so so much harder to try and hide his worsening condition from the three digimon that were left here in the human world with him. It hurt, and oh how it hurt - everything hurt, from breathing to moving from coughing until his lungs hurt worse and he didn’t need to hear Spadamon’s sharp intake of breath to know that it was blood that had come pouring from his lips. . . it was agony. Slow, long, and painful. What a fitting death for him, who had denied his death so often in the past.
He was laying on his side more often now, curled up, shredded eyelids trying to block what was left of his eyes from any light that could hurt him more, limbs tucked against himself to try and keep any kind of warmth. Zeromaru was dying, and he was dying, and he hated it so much.
Spadamon, Lunamon, and Coronamon scuttled around here and there. Zeromaru had no way of knowing what they were doing, but they would bring back food or water. They wanted him to eat first now, always, because it didn’t need to be said that he would die that much quicker without it.
More coughs, and more tears mixed with blood, and more of his blood on the ground.
Slow deaths were by far the worst ones.

[Uno reverse! ⍉ - for your muse to wrap their hands around my muse’s throat ]
(Drabble. Going to try and not make this a chapter. Please forgive any character discrepancies I may have against your Kaos.)
The overhead sprinkler systems do nothing to dull the suppressive heat, or cull the chemical fires raging throughout the secluded facility. Overloaded and breached, they and the rest of the base's security network cause more terror than correction, leaving more than one staff member to fry within spark-laced puddles and scream behind prematurely locked doors. The bodies of the mounting dead singe the air with a sharp tang - a scent surpassed only by the stench of sour water and twisting metal.
Kaos covers her assulted nose, and does her best to shield her eyes from the debris-ridden smoke. Embers spot her exposed skin with stinging blisters, but she continues to push through their flurries. Dashing down halls and across laboratories, she dodges falling beams, hanging wires and shattering glass littering the floors. There was no use fighting the hazards surrounding her, she realizes. Her only objective now was to run.
"Simons?!"
And to find him.
"Mr. Simons, where are you?!"
She should have spent her energy looking for an exit, or freeing the innocents still clutched within the Majestic 12's claws.
"Walton?!"
But some friendships were funny in that blinding sort of way.
The corridors grow dark and less congested the further she sprints away from the fiery laboratories. Still, it is clear that the beast of war had made its way down these halls. Smashed crates and scorchmarks pepper the way before her. The ferocity increaes the further she goes. Kaos was no stranger to blood's deep, ruby hues, but her heart sickens at the violently strewn patterns all the same. She knows who's bodies they belonged to by the glimmers of cobalt and iron within them, and fears to stumble upon one or both combatants dead. Her pace thus slows into a cautious gate as she rounds the next bend.
Darkness greets her.
Fluttering her slowly adjusting eyes, the chaosling raises a hand and inches her way down the dark hall. The corridor thrums with a forgotten energy, like an aftermath of a storm, but her otherworldly nature senses she is not alone within its vibrations. She hears the crunch of shattered tiles beneath her feet and the snap of torn fixtures within the walls, but also a rustle ahead, so, swallowing hard, Kaos calls his name again.
He does not answer, yet she still finds him in the gloom: an unmistakable shape outlined in electrical blue. His breath is uneven and ragged, like one heaving for air, but he stands tall and formidable before a heavy iron door. Impossibly, half his prized nano-forged sword lies like a shattered mirror between his boots. The rest remains embedded within the mighty slab baring his way. He stands with his back to her: frozen. Almost calm. Almost contemplative. The shadow he casts towards her, however, betrays a sway.
Immediately Kaos dashes forward and ducks under an arm to hold him steady. "I gotchu. Don't worry. I gotchu," she repeats, each phrase softer and kinder than the last. Her spirits lift when his hand finally grips her shoulder, and continue to rise until a syrupy wetness crawls down her back.
Reluctantly, her eyes peel towards his forearm. The powerful appendage was no longer dressed in fabric or flesh, but swarms of black nanomachinery that spark across exposed sinews.
She blanches. To her horror his torso and face are the same. Within the cyan aura of his broken sword, she could see the shine of his cheekbone and three pale teeth though his jaw clenches tight with molten fury. What she initially thought was his coat's collar is a peice of his cheek, hanging loosely at his neck. It swarms with the same nanos that were now creeping across the back of her head.
"Geez Simons, you..."
His eyes, hyper-defined silver rings in pits of black, drag from door to her. Under his gaze, Kaos, for once, finds it difficult to joke or smile.
The corners of her lips tug upwards in a great show of encouragment as he slowly lifts his arm off her shoulders. "Common," she pips, "We need to get out of here. The whole place is going down."
As if on cue, the floor shudders beneath them, sending cloues of grey dust into the air. Walton peels open his cracked lips. "Is it," he asks, his voice a corrupted, bioelectric purr.
Before she can figure it, he is upon her, lifting her, and slamming her against the heavy iron door. The back of her head cracks against it, introducing stars to her adjusting vision. Only inches away, the remnants of Simons's hungry, shattered blade begins to hum and snap for her flesh, but Kaos's dazed gaze remains on the man before her. She makes to cry out just as one inhumanly strong, blackened hand wraps around her slender neck and crushes her delicate windpipe to dust.
Or he would have if the chaos entity truly had any.
She croaks beneath his weight. Her hands scrabble upon his blood slick arm until they too are stained with black and red. "Walton," she keens, pinching his wrist. At the sound of his name Simons's other hand raises with a sickening delicacy, and joins the first about her neck. "Wa...Walton. Y..you cant ki-"
"I can't," he mimicks, rapidly ghosting forward until she could feel his breath upon her skin and the heat of his gaze burrowing like a bullet between her eyes. "I can't?! Maybe. But maybe I should try," he snarls. One finger lifts to tap admonishingly against her jaw. "Maybe I should have tried the first time I realized WHAT you are!"
"Was it you, child of chaos, that turned our operation into this mess?! Was it your poisonous presence that warped that son of a bitch, Denton, into the traitorous failure he is?!"
It is not just rage that pulses through the veins within his arms and neck, she realizes between the lancing pain and the barrage of words he throws at her. It is fear, an overwhelming desperation that far outshines her own even though he continues to push his calloused fingers into her neck.
With a clarity not afforded to mortal kind, Kaos wonders if she should turn upon him as he had done her - if she should draw her knife and punch it through his own exposed throat. His world was crumbling around him. Years if not decades of his humanly short life was spent towards this single goal that, in a year or less's time was cracking like the walls around them. Maybe it would be a mercy to end him now, she laments, one hand dipping to her side. This crazed, broken man...
But as she figures where to strike him, her eyes catch his own waver when her free hand cups his unscarred cheek. Denial? Sorrow? Guilt? She does not know.
As soon as his violence happened it ends. He throws her down with the shards at his feet. They cut her, spilling her holographic blood, but he does not see the wounds or hear her coughing as her neck expands back into remembered shape. He does not seem able to look at her in general.
Holding her arms, Kaos does her best to stop the maisma of her otherworldly lifeblood from flowing into his world, wrapping them up with torn clothing, her hands, anything. In her panic she does not notice the hand that comes upon her.
He does not hurt her, but his grip is still unapologetic in the way it lifts her to her feet. Angrily, she slaps it away just as her legs stabilize beneath her, splashing his nano swarmed arm with entropy. It seeps within his rebuilding forearm before either could take notice.
"This way," he chokes out reluctantly, his back once again towards her - unwilling to watch her decide whether or not she was to follow.
She, herself, did not know until a rumble shakes their world again.
