My friend and I stared at the ceiling in awkward silence after playing Majotori and ruining the lives of half the game's cast: We should reconsider our life decisions.

We almost lost our mind over a trivia game...

I might just do three in one this time, both to get stuff down before I forget and because I don't think I have a huge amount to say about any of them.

Disgaea 4 is the first game in the series I've tried playing since the original, and while it's definitely better I probably still won't stick with it super long because it's clunkier than it really needs to be. There's some potentially interesting stuff going on there, and I like that it's very silly, but it's just not great at presenting information to the player. They could learn a thing or two from Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom. It's possible that 5 or 6 (or soon 7) does some of that stuff better, but I probably won't bother finding out.

Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, on the other hand, is a better Zelda game than BotW or TotK, and I'm being completely serious and not just saying that because you can cut down bushes to get hearts. If you like the older 2D Zelda games it's great, and if you like cute games that have something a bit weirder going on under the surface it's also great. It's rather short, but that's a good thing in this case because it feels like the correct length for what they wanted to do with it and what they had to say.

And then the third one is another very short but great (and also cute and silly) one: Majotori. It's basically just a trivia game, except the gimmick is that your correct or incorrect answers determine the fates of the various characters. I'll probably play through it again just to see some of the alternate outcomes, because each little mini-story has both a good and a bad ending, and also I failed to get the good ending for the lesbians. Speaking of lesbians this is why I still follow Hella Yuri on Steam, because along with the sometimes kinda trashy games they post about there's also gems like this one.

Short Introduction: Good morning, day, evening or whatever you could say. I'll just say that I'm a fan of Itch.io's visual novels and games. I am a fan of @arcadekitten and others whose names I don't remember... (I don't have a good memory...) I like listening to music, sometimes I listen to the same song for 14 hours straight while playing Itch.io games, here is a playlist with some of my favorite songs.

So far my favorite games are Dead Plate, Here For Sweethearts, Sweet no Death, Bad End Theater, Hello Charlotte, (Don't) Open Your Eyes, Portal, Majotori, Doki Doki Literature Club, Cold Front and Starry Flowers.

I am deeply grateful to anyone who has taken the trouble to read this introduction, I know it is just one of the many, but the fact that someone will still take the time to read it in full makes me deeply happy, thank you for reading.

Soooo... don't judge me. I suck at this game. I suck at this trivia... Random questions, most of which are about anime, are throwing me off. Of course, that's not an excuse when I also miss super easy ones that every 5th grader knows.

Majotori DevLog #7: More than trivia

Menus are finished. We decided to offer 2 save slots + a “just trivia” mode, which sort of defeats the purpose of the game, but we have noticed than on social gatherings it can come in handy and it’s better than having people skipping the stories to reach the questions, so since it was pretty easy to implement, there it is.

The top in-game menu has also been visually and functionally improved. It’s still far from perfect during the quiz, but you won’t be unfolding the menu during the quiz often, anyway, and this was the only solution that didn’t require redoing most of the interface.

Now only Ava’s routes and the final credits sequence remain to be done. The fully functional beta is almost here!

There’s also a last minute surprise: We are planning to add some extra pieces of music. Not much, but it will have a great effect in a couple of stories and will help make the main theme less tiresome (we hope!).

Majotori trivia new trailer for Linux, Mac, PC

So we recently came across Majotori, a somewhat violent trivia game coming to Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Hence the games collection of tales will have players interacting by playing trivia. Some of the outcomes take a harsh and certainly violent turn. Since a witch appears to some of the games characters. So after they make a wish, the witch offers to make it come true. All they have to do is play a game of trivia game with her. Majotori has a Carefully Crafted Selection of Questions. Some of the subjects include a focus on video games, cinema and animation.

So Majotori is the first major project developer Majorariatto is shipping. And I have to admit, the gameplay looks impressive. While not be confused with the character models, the nature of the trivial would be great something like livestreaming. A creatively fun but still interactive style of gameplay. Majotori will be available on Steam for Linux, Mac and Windows PC on March 28th.
