All Dogs Go to Hell
Tumblr media
(Chainsaw Man x Reader) WARNING: CHAINSAW MAN SPOILERS AHEAD
Part 1: New Hire
The air in Makima’s office was constantly suffocating it seemed to settle heavy in the lungs of those who breathed it in. For the room having two giant windows, there were only slivers of light that made its way in through the curtains. The fluorescent lights were always flickering a sickening yellow but they were always contrasted by her smiling face and hypnotic yellow eyes. She leaned on her desk, her head in the palm of her hands. When Makima posed the notion of therapy for the Devils and Hunters alike at Public Safety Kishibe was in disbelief. Not that he’d ever voice it, Makima would pick out the uncertainty in his tone and squash him like a bug. There had to be something more to this idea, when it’s Makima there always was an ulterior motive even if she feigned innocence. Kishibe had no idea what her end game was so he would have to keep a close eye on her and this so-called therapist.
“You sure about this? The likelihood of the death of the therapist you choose would be practically guaranteed.”
He shivered when Makima gave him a closed eye smile a dismissive laugh escaping her lips, “You worry too much Kishibe.” She leaned forward hair falling around her face as she leaned back in her chair, “Just leave this all to me.”
Kishibe certainly didn’t like the sound of that but he kept his lips sealed shut. He hoped whoever this therapist was wouldn’t become a chess piece in Makima’s game, but noticing the redhead’s grin, whoever it was, was already considered Makima’s pawn.
“Why do we have to go pick ‘em up?” Denji groaned hands deeply dug into his pockets kicking the pebbles on the ground with his foot as they walked. Aki took a drag of his cigarette letting out a low sigh, he glanced at the hybrid out of the corner of his eye. Aki wasn’t exactly thrilled about this situation either. He wasn’t sure what Makima was thinking, they didn’t need therapy at Public Safety they needed more Devil Hunters in order to kill the Gun Devil. However, he’d do whatever Makima needed of him, she was, after all, the one who held his heart.
“Cause Makima said so, now shut your mouth they’ll be here any minute.” Aki grunted flicking his heated ashes over at Denji who growled in response.
“You dickhead-”
“Um, excuse me?” Denji’s mouth snapped shut turning to face the person who had spoken up, much to Denji’s annoyance neither he nor Aki was considered approachable people. So he was astounded to see that it was a young woman not much older than Aki. She was carrying a briefcase and had big doe eyes, she was dressed in a black pencil skirt that snuggly hugged her hips and a white blouse that emphasized her boobs. Denji’s eyes were fixated on them and how they moved when she shuffled but she seemed focused solely on Aki, “Are you, Aki Hayakawa?” Her voice seemed to float above everyone else’s in the crowd, Denji was transfixed just how long was it till she would utter his name?
“(Y/n) (L/n), I presume?” Aki nodded holding out his hand, “Pleasure to meet you.”
That’s who they were meeting? This is who Makima told them to pick up? His jaw hung open lamely, watching as she took Aki’s hand within her own. Aki’s calloused palm practically engulfed her own as a dazzling smile spread across her face. Denji’s heart jumped…
Cute.
“It’s nice to meet you too Hayakawa-san.”
“Just Aki is fine.”
She let out a little giggle, “okay just Aki.”
Denji almost swooned on the spot.
She’s funny too!
Aki just clicked his tongue and Denji could tell he was suppressing the urge to roll his eyes, whatever it was his loss “This is Denji. I’m sure Makima briefed you on him.” Finally, the attention was turned toward the chainsaw, he was grinning down at you. He was sure if he had a tail it would be wagging.
“She has,” her lips curled into a delicate smile, “It’s nice to meet you as well Denji. It will be a pleasure working with you.”
She was going to work with him?!
Makima really was an angel.
What did Aki say her job was again?
“It’ll be great working with you too!” He said rather hurriedly, bobbing his head eagerly “What devil are you contracted with pretty lady?” Denji’s hands twitch at his side wanting nothing more than to wrap his hands around her shoulders. He watched as she tilted her head to the side humming softly,
“Unfortunately Makima has specifically instructed me not to disclose that information. It technically falls under doctor-patient confidentiality since it’s something that allows me to perform my job correctly.”
Those were a lot of big words but Denji didn’t care she was pretty and smart, just like Miss Makima!
“Obviously! I should’ve known!”
Denji heard Aki’s scoff and he glowered at the Devil Hunter.
“It’s not a problem I’m sure you’ll find out as we continue to work together.” She spoke kindly, Denji almost burst a blood vessel as Aki’s gloved hand brushed against your own trying to take the briefcase from your grip. Denji body-checked him snatching the suitcase from you, he paid no attention as Aki flailed trying to regain his balance.
“I can carry that for you!”
“Thank you Denji I appreciate the help.” He felt her hand squeeze his arm gently, he made sure to flex his muscles in her hold. Denji face flushed red and he flashed a sharp-toothed grin at her he couldn’t believe she was touching him so willingly.
“Careful he could give you rabies,” Aki grunted and Denji’s smile turned into a scowl,
“THAT HAPPENED ONCE! LET IT GO!” Denji felt your hand slip from his arm and he felt himself swallow a rather pathetic whine, this asshole was ruining his chances. “I promise I don’t have rabies anymore! I had to get a shit load of shots in my ass but Miss Makima helped me get all cured up”
“You’re a Devil you didn’t need to do all that you just wanted Makima to touch your ass.”
“No way! not true!” Denji made crossed his arms in front of his face, it looked like a big ‘X’ as he frantically waved the arms about. He frantically glanced over at the fine-ass girl beside him ready to see the pure disgust on her features but instead, she was giggling. He was shocked, Denji stole a quick glance at Aki seeing that surprise was even on his usually stoic face.
“Makima wasn’t kidding when she said you all were an eccentric bunch!” Denji didn’t know what ‘eccentric’ meant. All he knew was when women used big words he couldn’t understand it was sexy as fuck. It sent tingles down his spine all the way to his groin and the tips of his toes, “I hope you all will take care of me,” She bowed swiftly hands clasped in front of her both men looked rather startled. Denji glanced at Aki completely at a loss for words, Aki coughed into his fist before stepping forward and bowing back.
Aki Hayakawa wasn’t one for promises. He’s lost too many people in his life to ever feel secure in making promises, especially to doe-eyed girls who seemed too innocent for their own good. But he had to remember Makima hand-picked her and she allegedly had a contract with an extremely strong Devil. Aki was also suspicious about how she was eyeing Denji like there was a hint of familiarity there that neither he nor Denji could place. His tongue swiped across his teeth “You’ll be safe with us at Public Safety, we’ll make sure of it.” Aki didn’t know why he felt compelled to promise her but he did and what’s done is done. She grinned up at him and his heart skipped a beat, for the first time for someone other than Makima, her eyes were the softest (e/c) he’s ever seen.
“Thank you so much.” She reached out taking his hand within his own once more, showing she was distinctly from two different cultures colliding into an original one of her own. Aki flushed and rubbed the back of his neck, with his other hand. For the first time in his life he hoped he didn’t reek too strongly of cigarette smoke, Aki could distinctly feel Denji’s seething eyes on their interlocked hands and he couldn’t help but give her a gentle squeeze just to further piss him off. Aki practically snarled as Denji got in between the two of them arms draping over both their shoulders, he gave the boy a nasty side-eye which he promptly ignored.
“So…how exactly do you know Miss Makima?” Denji hummed resting his head against your shoulder, Aki felt Denji nudge her forward so he could walk by her side pushing Aki to the background. Aki’s hands clenched into fists at his sides, he took in a deep breath of air before fishing another cigarette out of his pocket. Denji was definitely not walking in the right direction of Public Safety instead he seemed more content with showing her around the city. Aki’s brow furrowed hoping Makima wouldn’t be too upset by their lateness, she did seem to have a soft spot for the Chainsaw Devil after all. Aki watched as she smiled up at Denji, after all, she never answered him, Aki had just finished placing the cancer stick in his mouth when he heard her response,
“Oh, she’s my sister.”
The unlit cigarette fell from his mouth onto the damp concrete by his feet.
“She’s what?” Denji took his hands off her like she had bitten him, “You look nothing alike! What about genetics n’ shit!? Isn’t that a thing?” Aki watched Denji cause a scene causing many bystanders to turn their way. She shyly brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, but Aki was too focused on the way pink coated your cheeks in a way he’s never seen Makima’s.
In comparison you two seemed so…different, you seemed almost more…human. Pain shot briefly through Aki’s skull before he shook the thought away until it was no longer in his head. Her eyes seemed to shift to Aki, going soft,
“I was adopted, all of our siblings are.” (Y/n) explained pursing her lips slightly, a shy pink still spreading across her cheeks her eyes shifted back to Denji, “She’s always been the favorite.”
“Well, it’s not a surprise why!” Aki flinched as Denji beamed, praising Makima like the good dog he was. Forcing her to listen to the praise of her sister's accomplishments, even now living in her shadow, “Makima’s amazing, she does so much good.” Aki analyzed (y/n)’s reaction with steady eyes. Her genuine smile seemed to turn, eyes dulling slightly, did she not agree with Denji’s blatant praise? He supposed it would make sense, siblings don’t always get along especially when someone was siblings with someone like Makima. “Not that you don’t or anything,” Denji hurriedly added, “you’re like hot as fuck so you must be as good-hearted as Makima!”
“You’re very sweet Denji but hotness doesn’t always equal goodness.” Her voice cut into his ramblings like a knife into fresh vegetables Denji’s mouth snapped shut as he frowned. Aki didn’t say a word just continued to watch her speak, her voice scarily serious, “That scale is illogical according to many studies. Have you ever heard of implicit bias?” She turned to look at him over her shoulder, and Denji shook his head rather rapidly. “Implicit bias can be difficult to grasp so tell me if you’re still confused okay?” She clapped her hands in front of her face, once more Aki watched Denji nod dumbly, if he had a tail it would be wagging even though he was unhappy with her just moments ago.
“Yes ma’am!” Denji saluted and Aki could’ve sworn he heard him bark afterward but even that weirdness didn’t deter her from explaining.
“Implicit bias is a form of bias that occurs automatically and unintentionally, that nevertheless affects judgments, decisions, and behaviors.” She explained while moving her hands, “Do you know what that means?”
“Yes!” Denji shouted raising his hands in the air,
“Give me an example!”
“I can’t! I lied!”
“You’re such a fucking idiot,” Aki grunted and she shot him a dissatisfied look, he didn’t know why that look made him flush but it did.
“It’s okay, remember what I said earlier about attractiveness not always equaling goodness? That’s a perfect example of implicit biases, they’re dangerous because they can then slip into stereotyping different cultures or groups of people.”
Aki watched Denji blink a few times, “so…” Denji started, “what you’re sayin’ is I shouldn’t blindly trust all hot women?”
“Exactly! Good job Denji! I’m so proud of you!”
Aki watched red spread across Denji’s face all the way up to the very tips of his ears. His pupils dilated going fuzzy and soft, Aki made a revolted face knowing the thoughts Denji was thinking were anything but pure. You would have your hand's full playing therapist with Denji that’s for sure, at least he didn’t have to work with you.
When they arrived back at Public Safety you almost laughed at the face Aki made when Makima handed him his therapy schedule. Denji was still clinging to you like a spider monkey looking between you and Makima like he was trying to figure out how the two of you fit together in a family system while you both looked and acted nothing alike.
“Makima I really insist.” Aki stressed as he tried to shove the paper back toward Makima, “I don’t need a therapist. No disrespect to your profession, I’m sure you do your job exceptionally well.”
“None taken.”
You knew from your studies that if people didn’t want help, they won’t be receptive to it. That didn’t mean you’d give up on Aki, but he would definitely need to warm up to the idea of you being here. You watched as your sister smiled over at the man spreading her hands across the front of her desk as she moved to lean upon it. “Aki have I ever not done right by you?” You watched the black hair man tense and shake his head. “Then trust me and trust (y/n) she won’t have you do anything you don’t want to do,” Makima hummed holding out a gentle hand in your direction. “Plus you need it after Himeno’s passing.”
“Makima if Aki doesn’t want to participate you shouldn’t make him. He should come on his own, I’m here to provide reprieve and assistance only to those who want it.” You interrupted before she could share more of Aki’s personal business in front of others. The air in the office grew cold, and you felt a hard tug in your chest. Neither of the men seemed to notice but you shot a look at your sister who was only smiling tersely, the tether snapped immediately as you opened your mouth to speak once more, “But even so if you deem it mandatory then he has to at least show up for our sessions and I’ll do my duty to work with him.” The look on Aki’s face was almost comical, the way his nose scrunched in displeasure lines of frustration appearing on his face, but he only nodded in Makima’s direction.
“I’m glad you changed your mind,” Makima smiled “This will be a good thing have faith in me.”
“I always do.” Aki rushed to speak up soft pink warming on his pale cheeks, you hummed in curiosity.
“Good. I trust you’ll give these to Power as well. Denji I’m trusting you with your own copy. Don’t lose it.”
“Yes ma’am!”
“Good boy.” She beamed cat-like eyes lighting up in delight, it seemed it was now Denji’s turn to flush he was much more noticeable.
‘Responds well to praise no matter how degrading.’ You mentally commented, he needed better coping skills we will need to dig deeper into that-
“Since I’m so good can I touch your boobs?”
You weren’t one to be caught off guard, not when your job is to work alongside humans and Devils through counsel. But hearing Denji ask that so blatantly had you flushing red and blinking rapidly, no one seemed to notice but Aki, “It’s a normal occurrence don’t worry about it. Makima doesn’t mind.” You looked up at him pursing your lips, you brought your voice to a whisper as Makima giggled responding to the question.
“Aki it doesn’t matter if it’s ‘normal’ or not. That’s abnormal coping behavior that Makima is encouraging.” You frowned cheeks still red, “there is no such thing as a consensual workplace relationship. Most of the time it’s an incredibly toxic environment, especially when someone in power, like Makima, talks to someone easily manipulated like Denji. There should be no sexual rewards period.” Aki looked at you like a deer in headlights, “It’s just what Denji responds well to.” He tilted his head reaching out to place a hand on your shoulder, “but I guess that’s why you’re here huh? To work with us and help us find those better mechanisms.” He glanced down at you and you felt yourself get swallowed by those eyes,
‘What did you just say about Denji’s behvaior?’ The superego part of you brian scolded, while the id filled your thoughts with Aki’s eyes in other less-than-innocent situations. You willed yourself not to flush,
‘You’re only human.’ The id purred,
‘Admiring him will never hurt anyone,’ Your ego served to remind you, settling your nerves.
“You’re right,” You smiled shyly back “Thank you, Aki.” He seemed to blink in surprise at your genuineness, “I promise I won’t let any of you down!” Your smile turned more honest grasping at his hand and pulling them to your chest, Aki’s cheeks turned a dark shade of red.
“Alright, alright…I believe you. Calm down…”
“(Y/n).” Makima’s voice lacerated through the air like a butcher with a machete, you stood straight looking at your sister dead in the eyes. “Your office will be here at Public Safety in room 210A, I was going to have your room here as well but the more I thought about it the more I realized having you down there with all those Devil’s might not be ideal for my sweet sister.”
“She can live with us!” Denji’s hand shot up into the air wiggling his fingers, “We have another bedroom!”
“Don’t just invite people to live with us!” Aki snapped striking Denji on the top of his head with his fist, “Plus that extra room is my bedroom, you bastard!” “Don’t worry Aki I know your home is full.” Makima sighed softly “I’ve set her up with Kobeni for the time being until we can come up with another solution or another space opens up.” Denji grumbled about this being totally unfair and that you and Power should switch places because you actually had a nice rack on you, you weren’t insulted by the comment but it was something you would work with him on. “In the meantime…tomorrow Denji you will take (Y/n) to meet Power and then officially start your training with Kishibe. She will be there to observe how it goes, and grasp a better understanding of what it’s like here. Aki make sure you get them here on time.”
“Yes ma’am.”
“Good,” Makima smiled, “Aki, Denji you’re dismissed. (Y/n) we need to discuss a little bit more of your job here.”
“Sounds good.”
“It was nice meeting you! See you tomorrow!” Denji chirped brightly, “Make sure you root for me and not Power!”
“Will do!” You tossed your head back with a slight giggle, “Sleep well Denji you too Aki! Have very pleasant dreams.”
“I will! And they’ll be of you!”
“Shut up already you pervert.” Aki snapped shoving Denji through the door, as soon as they left you heard the distinct sound of a lock clicking behind them. You turned around facing Makima a frown on your features she sat down on her desk, legs crossing over one another other foot bouncing in the air.
“So what’s your plan here?” You asked head held high in the air, “You’ve got quite the business going on here. Killing rouge Devil’s what’s your aim?” Makima said nothing in response only tilting her head to the side,
“Tell me sister what you think the Conquest Devil wants?”
“They’re barely adults.”
“And what do you know about human aging?”
“Makima.” You hissed, “What are you getting at? The stink of pain and death permeates this place; coating it like a blanket.” It was the first time Makima’s moldable smile fell off her features nose scrunching up unpleasantly.
“Of course, you’d notice that.”
“I am Death.” You stalked towards her standing in between her legs, her hands found your waist resting them there. Pale fingers drumming against your hip bones in a way she used to do growing up, “I’m not afraid of you,”
“Ah yes, the glorious Death Devil who does not fear anyone or anything. Except that, for some reason, she feels the need to masquerade herself as a human.”
“Takes one to know one.” You scoffed, “running an organization slaughtering rouge Devils while being one themselves.” Makima tilted her head to the side red hair framing her face in a way that always has men swooning.
“You’re working for me now so what does that make you?”
“One of the good ones. I’m helping people.”
“Well see if that continues here,” Makima stated bluntly, “We lose many people and I know how attached you can get.” You tossed your head back and laughed pulling away from Makima grabbing your briefcase,
“I’m empathetic what can I say, every life matters.”
“Not every life.”
“That’s where we differ sister, while I’m here I will be saving everyone I can.”
“Is that a challenge?”
“You know as well as I do as soon as you summoned me here you had a plan already in motion.”
“That’s why you’re my favorite.”
“It’s why you’re my least.” You kissed your teeth, watching as Makima only smiled wider at your response. Makima soon laughed and you were left smiling at one another, pure malice rippling just under the surface of those smiles. Darkness began to surround Makima licking at her cheeks while the light in the room created a bright halo above your head. A knock on the office store made the dark shapes snap back behind Makima and the lock clicked open.
“Enter."

FUCK BAREM. THIS IS NOW A BAREM HATE PAGE. This is more evil than the orphanage lady killed Asa’s cat in her backstory. If Meowy got hurt in that fire it’s over and, aside from Nayuta, those dogs were quite literally the only good thing Makima left behind. Even the apartment was bought with Aki’s money. The last remnants of Part 1 are now possibly ashes.

With everything from his “normal life” gone Denji deserves to snap. For someone who wants Denji to transform in to Chainsaw man so bad he better be ready…

a/n - as much as i hate makima, the idea was too good to let go, so have this! thanks for reading! titled "fear me not". maybe ooc but hey, let her be whipped. have a good day/night!
↬ cw: spoilers if you haven't read the manga, slight obsession (makima)
Tumblr media
"Do you fear me?"
It was certainly out of the blue, and a very out-of-character question for a person like Makima to ask. You, who was sipping on a cup of coffee, sat across her inside her living room, had momentarily stopped reading the book you held, incredulously raising a brow at her.
Was it something she shouldn't have asked? It wasn't uncommon for her to ask questions out of nowhere, but out of all the questions she had asked, this one, in particular, had the most unique reaction. You looked at her funny, an expression you rarely wear when acknowledging her.
Then, you let out a sigh, placed a bookmark in between the pages you previously read in your book, and closed it. You crossed your legs and continued to take a long, leisurely sip of your coffee.
How odd. This is usually a pose you do when the two of you are about to have a serious discussion. Makima replicated your seating, ignoring the multiple huskies whining on her lap for her attention.
"Would you ever hurt me?" You simply asked, heaving a hot breath that smelt like ground coffee beans and milk.
Would she? Makima opened her mouth to answer you, but then closed it again, mulling over your question more. Could she even hurt you? You were different than the rest. She was a devil. The Control Devil, to be precise. One of the most powerful devils known to man, you should be afraid.
Even being granted by the government a high position in the Public Safety Devil Hunters, high enough to know who she truly was, there wasn't a single ounce of fear in your body. Neither an inch of worship. Perhaps respect as your higher-up, but nonetheless, you tolerated her at most.
A human, a mortal, at the mercy of the Control Devil, is having a normal day with her. In her own apartment. Talking to her on equal grounds.
Were you even human at this point? Makima often wondered. You smell human, but in the period you've known each other, she's never seen fear on your face lest it wasn't directed to her.
You screamed over a cockroach that crawled over your foot, for god's sake!
Oddly enough, she was relieved. Not annoyed, or angry. Her chest felt light whenever she was with you. Because she knew she wasn't talking to a puppet, but to you. You didn't force yourself to like her or made her feel like she was a much superior being to you. You made her feel as if she was just a simple human as you are. You glare at her, scoff, and sigh, but she never felt repulsed by it. She loved it.
Makima was the first to confess. Perhaps she was disillusioned by your fearlessness. Much to her amusement, you were definitely shocked. Confused and also quite perturbed. It was also the first time she felt a laugh bubble from her chest but stopped herself from doing so.
So cute.
As expected, you rejected her. Multiple times, but she was persistent. So she tried again, and again. You never gave in, rejecting her at each confession. But in between those confessions, you've gotten to know her more. From her interest in (crude) paintings, her favorite drink, movies, her multiple dogs, food, and many many more.
Makima could tell you'd grown fond of her.
She finally understood the feeling humans often described as "butterflies in your stomach", because she felt it when you first laughed and smiled in her presence. Her heart, a part of her she was sure was dead, pounded against her chest and heat crept up to the tips of her ears.
You finally said yes.
When Makima first confessed, she thought she would find happiness with you, all because you were different than the rest. For once, outside of work, you treated her similarly to everyone else.
And she did.
From offering your own blood when she's injured even though she could handle it herself, helping her take care of her dogs, cooking for her, cleaning for her, and formulating plans with her. You smiled more often, especially when she was around. You'd huff in annoyance when one of her colleagues makes a move on her even if she reassured you for the nth time that they were just under her control.
You were cute. You made her feel warm on the inside. You made her feel multiple emotions she's never felt before. You're always so eager to care for her, to give her hugs when she gives you a certain look, to kiss her oh so tenderly on her lips, to remove her coat for her when she goes home late, and many more.
You were her everything, even if she wasn't the best at showing it. Even if she was the fearsome Control Devil. You loved her, despite who or what she was.
So no, perhaps she would never hurt you. Because once you lose yourself from her control, or die from a devil's hand, perhaps she'd lose herself as well. Lose everything she cared for.
No, because it's you.
"That's my answer." You say after her prolonged silence. It was been approximately 5 minutes since you last spoke and she's been in a daze since then. Even if she hadn't spoken, she needn't either way. You could see it in her eyes, the way the corners of her lips twitched, arms that were once neatly folded on her chest now clutching the dog that rested on her lap. She didn't even notice it licking her cheek.
"Makima," You sighed, setting down your cup of coffee on the center table. Finally, her eyes focused on you, shoulders easing once she saw your face. "What's there to fear?"
With that, she found herself huffing in amusement. She pointed a finger to you, a finger gun. She could easily end your life at right this moment, with a single flick of her wrist. But all you did was scoff and roll your eyes, grabbing the forgotten book and opening it once more. "That wasn't a challenge, but go on with it."
Makima's smile widened, pulling her hand away and standing up from her seat, claiming the spot next to you instead.
Looks like you were right once more. You never fail to intrigue her. You never fail to impress her. You never fail to make her fall harder for you.
"I love you," Makima wrapped her arms around yours, laying her head against your shoulder. She had to hold back a smirk that threatened to creep up on her lips when you suddenly sputtered, face red at her confession.
Despite it all, you still get flustered at her unpredictableness. You are still human after all. Her human. Her lover.

AHAHANWJW NOT THE GIRL FAIL LOL
I could see it though-
Tumblr media
“Elephant shoes.” Makima says out of nowhere, turning the page of her book confidently as she waits for your response. Meanwhile, you’re sitting next to her, jaw hanging open in absolute confusion.
“What?!”
“What?”
“You-“ You cut yourself off with a heavy sigh, still clearly confused. “What the hell..?”
“Someone told me that it was a subtle way of saying I love you.” She looked up from her book, her eyes meeting yours. “Was I misinformed?”
“Well. It looks like ‘I love you’ if you mouth it to someone. It doesn’t exactly mean that.” A nervous chuckle escaped you as you watched her brows furrow slightly.
“Olive juice.” She looked back down at her book and continued to read, reaching over for her cup of coffee slowly.
“WHAT?!”
“What?”
“Who is telling you these things?!” You had to force yourself to stop smiling, and your voice even cracked as you held in your laughter.
“Himeno.”
“Oh boy…” You had to turn your face away from hers so that she wouldn’t see how funny you found her predicament. “See, that’s also one that looks like ‘I love you’ when you mouth it to someone.”
“I see.” She paused briefly to take a sip of her coffee. “Well. I flove you, Y/n. I’m going to use my unmatched rizz to show you how much I love you.”
“MAKIMA!” You choked on your air and laughed loudly, tears forming in your eyes. “J-Just give it a break. pLease-“
“I guess I didn’t understand the assignment.”

This csm page... I will never forget how much hatred I felt when I saw Makima laughing. All I could even say when I saw this was ''You... Bitch'' because of how stressed the chapter before left me lol
Honestly Makima has to be one of my favorite villains out there, because she KNOWS how to get herself hated while still being a really well written character. Definitely one of my favorite characters in csm too, but God how much I hate her lol

I need csm fans to understand that the same way part 1 featured Fujimoto spilling dommy mommy kink all over the pages while seriously exploring child grooming, so can part 2 include sexual undertones while exploring how an abused child develops their identity outside of that abuse.
Part 2 has been about exploring different facets of identity. Denji rejects his human self to find value in his “hero” self. Asa rejects the hero Chainsaw Man but finds value in Denji. Yoshida wants Denji to lead a normal life, but as we understand through Asa’s narrative, a “normal” life is an unrealistic and sometimes even detrimental ideal (normal as in defined by social standards, not normal as in a universal human experience. Different from the Makima “you don’t deserve a normal life.”).
Asa tries so desperately to be normal that she hates herself even more for failing to be normal—in order for everyone else to be her definition of what is “right,” she is continuously putting herself down, sometimes literally falling down. This is apparent from the traumatic childhood memory of losing a cat she held affection for because her caretaker wanted her to be alone like the other kids in the orphanage (and the caretaker herself). The reason she hates falling isn’t the fall itself, but that she falls “at the wrong moment,” when she is not like everyone else. It is through the tumultuous but genuine connections with Yuko, War Devil, Denji + Chainsaw man, and notably “falling” FOR someone in a positive way, that Asa can begin to stop being “normal” and slowly value her weirdo self.
In case you can’t already tell, Asa’s character arc strongly parallels Denji’s. Denji and Asa are trying to cater to a basal desire for human love, and base their entire identities in whether or not they can access that. Instead of be normal, Denji wants to be exceptional, a hero who can “get all the ladies.” The part 2 makes a point to emphasize it is affection, not purely sex, that Denji wants by depicting him as uncomfortable even while receiving a sudden kiss from who he believed to be Asa, which contradicts his aforementioned goals. He also shows genuine love and care for Nayuta. Denji truly values forming genuine connections, but still centers his SELF WORTH on being able to “get all the ladies,” or have sex with women. This is actively hindering him, for the more a “hero” chainsaw man becomes, the more desirable chainsaw man is, the more removed chainsaw man is from Denji’s own idenntity. This is coupled by the fact even when trying to so hard to be a hero, Denji fails to act “heroic” by virtue of his true self. (He’s incredibly violent, saves a cat over people, shows preference to save women, etc). To the point that there is an entire separate entity pretending to be Chainsaw Man, and even a whole obsessive fan club.
Through Denji and Asa, it’s apparent that you cannot be your “true” self as a self-proclaimed pariah nor hero. You cannot base your identity on how normal or not-normal you are. This is important, because Yoshida is pushing Denji to be normal while PRETENDING to be comfortable with Denji as himself. He keeps up a stable, friendly tone with Denji while he explains Denji is on constant surveillance, actively follows him, and frequently isolates him. The way Yoshida talks to Denji contrasts a lot with how he intends to use Denji, I wonder why that sounds familiar….
….oh right. Makima did that. Except Makima never wanted Denji to live a normal life, now, did she? She wanted the hero of chaos, Chainsaw Man. Makima and Yoshida’s manipulation of Denji are two sides of the same coin. Where Makima was indirect and cunning, Yoshida uses obvious methods to control Denji. Both are pressuring Denji to pick a polar end of his identity, monster or human, exceptional or normal.
Another similarity between Makima and Yoshida is they each try to cater to Denji’s hunger. While feeding Denji is not the first thing Yoshida does, it is how his method of establishing their power dynamic, which is exactly the role that feeding Denji took on for Makima. However, unlike Part 1 Denji, who eats from Makima’s hand, Denji took the food Yoshida ordered into his own hands, explicitly after Yoshida tried to bar him from using thr “normal” method with food utensils. Yoshida is like Makima, but Denji has learned not to trust his type nor the fake promises of normality. Denji caters to his own hunger. He may not be able to recognize his base hunger for affection, but he does know to listen to himself. Denji’s dynamic with Yoshida kinda serves as a benchmark for his development at this point in the series.
All of this taken into consideration: the narrative’s rejection of society’s normal through Asa, the rise of Chainsaw Man as a hero, and the parallels between Yoshida and Makima, is it really a surprise that Yoshida and Denji’s interactions would be sexually charged? Is Yoshida not trying to echo Makima’s dominance when he proceeds to control Denji from the shadows, so far as to kidnap him, immobilize him, and strip him? Did Makima not do those things on a literal and psychological level?
For Denji, sex continues to be little more than an exchange in power. When Denji desperately tries to barter Yoshida with a sexual favor, he’s calling back to the ways that being subservient gave him a way out of his pain, a way to be loved, but at the same time he’s being outrageously inappropriate without a care, he is rejecting normality. He is both the hurt child and the defiant boy.
Yoshida is a reminder of Denji’s past, but also serves as a motivator for him to keep fighting for his own happiness, his own loved (family), his own self. I’m excited to see how the story handles this first real “confrontation” with Yoshida next chapter.
TL; DR the end of Ch132 does resemble a consent play scene and this is plot relevant information imo

OMG THAT'S SUCH A FUN CHAPTER I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT AHHHH
Tumblr media
(also this makes me feels like the organization is indeed under kishibe, something like an anti-makima squad but this time it's just a small team to make sure denji didn't do anything stupid)
Tumblr media
also, is this one of kobeni's siblings? i feel like maybe he(?) is...
Tumblr media
look at these losers, i love them 😂💓
Tumblr media
even yoshida can't handle the secondhand embarrassment from seeing asa fumbled so hard lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also this panel and the last 2 pages are giving me... "we're gonna discuss bullying and conformity today" vibe
but honestly, i love how fujimoto showed just how... different denji and asa is. they're both outsiders, but denji has already accepted that status of him, and live his life how he wants. not only because he had experienced such... isolation from humans around him, but also because he had experienced love that was given to him unconditionally in a form of pochita, aki and power.
asa though, she's an outsider hiding in the shadows. she tried so hard to be accepted by her peers, and if that means pretending to get along with everyone? she will do just that. if that means ridiculing another person just to get away from being ridiculed? then she will do just that. which is exactly what she did to denji.
so... when iseumi (that mfing bitch) talked down to her like that... she might realized there's really nothing she can do to be accepted. no matter how much effort she do to conform to the standard of normalcy... she might still be hated for not performing it enough to make others comfortable.
but yeah i hope in this journey... asa gets to learn from denji on how to live in your truest sense. yes, denji's a bit of a goof, he took the money that he found in an empty building, he walk away and do his own things. but he doesn't pretend to play nice. i hope they can work together, but also i love seeing them be such a bitch to each other, it reminds me of hayakawa family dynamic... 😭💔
anyway, love this chapter! i wanna see more of asa's adventure to become a person who can be true to herself...

started reading chainsaw man (august 1st). here re my thoughts
what if denji / chainsaw man isnt actually super important or anything and shark fiend is the devil equivalent of your friend who gets Really Into local ska bands. denji isnt important sharkguy just really likes underground unimportant devils and when pochita WAS hanging around the devil scene he was super dope.
bomb devil (forgot her name) was so good. such a good character. i love her. i have the page where she says 'I've never gone to school either.' bookmarked because that's such. That's such a hard hitting line. Because the reason denji never went to school is because he was working around the clock constantly and never had a childhood. bomb devil never went to school because she was working around the clock constantly and never had a childhood. it makes me shake like a wet rat it's so . it means everything to me i think.
makima and everyone is just 'kishibe: i went to 'everybody fucking hates you and wants you dead' island and everybody who knows a single thing about you was there. denji: i wasnt there. power: tis my island! i have mine own seaside cottage there with cats! and hookers!'
speaking of makima. idk her deal but FUCK i love her. shes so good. whatevr the hell shes doing i love the way the author is doing it.
kobeni (pathetic girl) is like. almost fun. but she just doesnt hit it for me ig. i like it when shes competent though thats great. i loved her friendship with .. violence fiend? i think? that was really nice and sweet i liked it.
i'm loving it. the art style slaps and it has a bunch of women and it treats them like people and its just. its really good.

Chainsaw Man - Tatsuki Fujimoto   Ch. 98-132: A Disappointed Commentary and Overall Impressions.
LISTEN. If you’re as sensitive about your faves as I am, don’t read this. I’m bummed with Part 2 and it shows. (But, hey, I’m looking forward to reading more?)
-This Asa has had more introspection in twenty pages than Denji has had in his entire lifetime (this is a neutral comment).
-Did she accidentally squash Chicken Devil omg
-Holy shit, this escalated. Mr Tanaka, really now?
-I kinda like Yoru. And Yoru alone.
-Your goal is to defeat Chainsaw Man and mine is to actually see him... I don’t care about Asa that much.
-Oh Denji, u in Asa’s manga too?
-I like Denji, give me more Denji, omg, this is my nightmare scenario of endless chapters focused on characters you’re not interested in, I’ve feared this for a while.
-Where is everyone? Why has everyone left Denji alone? Like, in life.
-I don’t like that Denji is a side-character!
-Pls, Nayuta, save the story :’(
-At anyone who might be reading this and is enjoying the story: I am very, very happy that you do, I’m jealous. I am so disappointed though. I’m disappointed that Denji is not the MC, yes, but also, Asa is not compelling to me, there’s no side-characters with spark and just life, the setting is underwhelming - a school after Public Safety, I don’t see any interesting dynamics right now. Basically, what compelled me in the first arc just isn’t here. I see people saying to wait, that things will peak and twist and turn, and, well, yes, of course they might, but that doesn’t make up for the things that haven’t worked for me so far. But yes, please reframe those things, please, make me eat my words and shock me into adoring the arc! I beg! I beg to be wrong!
-There’s a lot of bread crumbs for the future, I won’t deny that. Yoshida’s random organization, Nayuta herself, the prophecy, the contract with Power of course, but... give us something concrete :’(.
-In a weird way though, it has me wanting to read on and on and then some, just to see Denji and see where on earth this is going.
-Why drown it, bitch. Why drown the cat, bitch.
-”Solitude and companionship... I’m afraid of both!” I mean, same.
-The Falling Devil ala chef, great, I like that.
-And you would care if the Devil’s a thief... why exactly, Denji boy?
-Yes, bb, yes, bring up Denji’s trauma, bring up Power and Aki, finally. God, I miss them. But yay, finally, quality time with Denji!
-Chainsaw be like “I wanna have sex!” and Asa be like “yeah, nvm, just let me fall.”
-They are ON A PLATE, nice. See, I’m lots more ameliorable when Denji is around and denji-ing.
-Actually content now that Denji’s been around for a few chapters in a row, lmao.
-Looking forward to seeing who “fake Chainsaw” is. An actual other Chainsaw? Denji from the future? Who knows.
-War Devil might win in the prophesy and prevent the Age of Devils, got it. Yoru, you’re up.
-And now Nayuta has the spotlight, phew, I can breathe again. And more Denji! We’re ending the binge-read on a positive note.
Overall Impressions: Part 1: Love and adoration, fun, ridiculousness, excitement, pain and heartbreak, shock and respect. Sometimes the plot gets convoluted. Denji, Aki and Power are one of my favorite gangs. I love all the side-characters, I love Denji, I love the character development, I love to hate Makima, I love the panel composition. Part 2: I’m bummed and curious. Not enough Denji, but I’m delighted when Denji and Nayuta appear. For the moment weak side-characters. Lots of hints for potentially exciting things to come. Lacks the visual oomph of Part 1 because of lackluster setting. I don’t vibe with Asa.

Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 17-21, Or, A Window Into Fujimoto's Madness
Tumblr media
So, got my hands on this collection of short stories from Fujimoto, and the first thing I have to say is man, I'm disappointed in Viz. Regular volume size despite the fact that Look Back and Goodbye Eri are both coming in the larger Viz Sig trim. Not only that, but the quality assurance on it is terrible. I mean, I got a bad volume. Totally misaligned and skewed spine, poor paper quality, and even the pages themselves have awful tolerances. Truly embarrassing how far downhill Viz quality has stumbled in the last while. And the talk about cost is laughable, because I'm certain people would pay more for higher quality copies. Anyways, enough Viz hate out of the way, the stories.
There are four short stories contained in this volume, ranging from a boy that stops a bullet, to Power Rangers-esque transforming aliens, to a boy that will stop at nothing to confess his love. What permeates these titles that go from so bad it's good to oddly charming though, is Fujimoto's style. Everything screams him. And that's why you'd pick this up. Not because you liked Chainsaw Man, not even because you enjoyed Fire Punch. But because Fujimoto is so damn weird and interesting you can't help but want a deeper look into his thought process. Anyways, I'll give a brief overview of the one-shots that fill the pages of this volume and my thoughts on them as they appear in the volume.
A Couple of Clucking Chickens Were Still Kicking In The Schoolyard
Tumblr media
This one was probably the most non-sensical, and the 'So Bad It's Good' of the volume. Aliens invade Earth and effectively crush them in their entirety, devouring them and being heavy handed in drawing parallels to how humans eat animals. As the story goes 2 humans remain at a high school, disguised as "Chickens", who the aliens treat as pets. Of course things go squirrely and identities are unveiled and action ensues. It's passable purely because of Fujimoto's quirks. Last minute reveals that appear out of nowhere, random gag characters that are walking stereotypes, so on and so forth.
Tumblr media
So yeah, overall very weird, and very distant to a lot of Fujimoto's more polished works. It's a fever dream of a high school student trying to write a manga. Not the worst I've read, but a one-and-done for sure.
Sasaki Stopped A Bullet
Tumblr media
Sasaki Stopped A Bullet is interesting, to say the least. There's a lot to like about it, and a lot of Fujimoto's weird sense of reality warping that has no start or finish, but it suffers from the key component that is its villain just being an entire waste. It's a pretty cut and dry character trope that Fujimoto admittedly makes solid use of, but it's just something you can't help but sort of let out a sigh at. Aside from that though, the concept is really quite interesting, and it's definitely a more unique look at the thought process of Fujimoto as it exists outside of violence and outright absurdity. I might even say it's the most adventurous of Fujimoto's oneshots in this volume purely because it's that much different from his usual work.
Love Is Blind
Tumblr media
Love Is Blind is just a short little story about Fujimoto leaning all the way into a romance. The class president that can't work up the courage to say 3 little words, but will tell off teachers, people mugging him, and even aliens trying to pull a Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. It's fun, and certainly doesn't overstay its welcome, just a nice refreshing little read that is about as crazy as you'd expect.
Shikaku
Tumblr media
I think this one was most interesting because of the lead character Shikaku. No matter how you slice it (or pull it apart?), Shikaku is where the inspiration for Makima came from. Not just in terms of design, but even to a degree the character. It's an odd story that follows the girl in her profession as a hitman, being given the task of killing a vampire because he's bored of life. It's so-so, I wouldn't really say I lean either way with it, but it's probably one of the only ones I'd be interested in seeing expanded. The potential for comedy is pretty solid given where it ends up, but getting there isn't exactly some incredible ride of a lifetime.
So there you have it, the four short stories in this oneshot collection. It's fun mostly because it's Fujimoto, but there's also some good pieces here and there. I think the thing I found the most interesting with it was just how much overlap there is between these and the rest of Fujimoto's works. Similar characters, enjoyable concepts and appeals, there's a lot that remains the same. Take for example, the Alien beaming down in Love Is Blind, you can clearly tell Fujimoto has a penchant for it as we see something similar towards the end of Chainsaw Man with the Chainsaw Devil. Or, there's also the overlap and interest with vampires that Fujimoto holds. Either way, it's really fun to get that deeper look into Fujimoto and see where stuff ends up coming from. Easy recommendation for Fujimoto fans, but for purely Chainsaw Man (or even CSM and Fire Punch) fans, I'm somewhat doubtful of what you'll be able to get out of the volume.

its funny seeing random people on twitter hating kishibe for asking quanxi out for nine years based on the volume 8 extra pages, but in the LN its explained that he doesn't romantically want quanxi, there's only two things that are constant in their line of work: 1) the taste of alcohol 2) quanxi being alive, the latter which makes it easy to cope with living.
it's that he, like many other characters, are feeding into their ignorance of reality (that all his co-workers and friends will die) so that he can continue having the will to live. it was never about romance, that is literally why he replied "I knew that already" when she tells him. but people are obsessed with framing it like kishibe is some creep/incel or something despite the narrative pointing out that it isn't the case? and the reason quanxi rejects his offer to fight makima is because her own plan to emancipate her fiends by giving them human rights is more important than helping out an old friend. use your fucking brains god damn

gosh and i hate akimeno slander all the more, because Makima and Akis relationship made the ship retroactively even more heartbreaking to me.
aki (to me and idc what people think) is a beautiful bisexual man drowning in grief and he had the chance to be with his cool pretty senpai that begged him not to die OR with the androgynous angel demon who told him secrets from hell...
(Both options like... Any bisexual's dream, let's be honest...)
when angel asked: why do you like Makima anyway
Like i felt the next few pages in my bones. Why would he? Why would he care? Why would he not be interested in Himeno at all? or in Angel for that matter?
it's so sick.

🔥🔥🔥🔥 CHAINSAW MAM
CHAINSAW MAN WOOOO (explodes into a million pieces)
damn what can i say about it i am living in a bubble and when i venture into twitter to see memes about new chapters i close my eyes to any actual takes. my makima takes arent even hot the'yre just basic at this point..... hmmmm
oh wait my anime takes LOL okay here we go. the anime is beautiful in a lot of ways don't get me wrong, but it just did not hit for me at all the way rereading the manga does. the Aki v katana man fight/Himeno death & ghost scene was objectively good solid animation... but the emotions just weren't there for me. and i overall found it super disappointing :( i am not on the crazy level of making a petition to remake the anime with a new director and i dont think the CGI parts are terrible like some people dont get me wrong (okay the ghost model with the flat flower texture on her body literally made me laugh in that fight scene. however the parts with the hands crawling forward was fantastic so it balances out) i just... ugh...
if there is anything in specific that fujimoto is a master at it is PANELING 100%!! his art can be hit or miss (esp at the start of csm) due to deadlines but his movie nerd experience has made him fantastic at paneling pages out, knowing how to let things linger or how much page % to give every panel, how to make a scene take up pages of quiet loneliness or the page turns of dread or the way to make things quick and snappy and horrifying in just a moment. i could literally write an essay about his paneling im not joking (i almost did it rn but i would need to show a whole bunch of pages and it would make this post so fucking long for no good reason lol) BUT it means for me seeing these things in the anime gives them such a different vibe it annoys me watching it ! still not the directors fault, its a problem of adapting the medium
oh also the best thing to come out of the anime is 100% the opening and ending animations, absolutely fantastic, i watch them & listen to them all the time (the dogland ending. bow wow baby i love denji !!!!) and i cant wait for some aki themed ones to be made in s2 bc i need to cry over that stupid fuckign snowball fight even more. anyways yeah there is a part of me that hates the anime a little bit </3 animeonlys will die by my hands

CSM liveblog - Vol 1 Ch. 11-13
Tumblr media
:)
Tumblr media
Mans so stressed
Tumblr media
Aw it's the girl who had the 'pet' devil! So cute. I wish they included this bit in the anime, but I guess having the whole Aki morning routine scene is a good tradeoff.
Tumblr media
he's so real
Tumblr media
and so rude 😭
Tumblr media
That's right. You're making ✨family✨
Tumblr media
Denji's upset little face in the background.
Tumblr media
One of the not terribly lore/plot-heavy details I'm looking forward to finding out is how Makima 'saved' Aki. And also why he's a Makima simp. Sis is terrifying.
Tumblr media
A CARROT.
Tumblr media
I don't know if this is just a translation thing but "made that vegetable" is such a Denji thing to say. And I also love how much he respects farmers.
Tumblr media
>:( >:(
Tumblr media
Panels like these really remind me of Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell.
On to chapter 12!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
:O
Tumblr media
"No getting away from Makima" 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
D:
Tumblr media
Getting to read the dialogue in this part is fun lol. Ahhh, paperwork.
Tumblr media
Ignoring the fact that he's talking about boobs, this is a mood.
Makima handholding scene is just as unnerving as it is in the anime!
On to Chapter 13.
Tumblr media
There's really this vibe that she's talking to him like he's a kid. Which he is. Which makes everything that happened a few pages before creepier.
Tumblr media
:((
Gun hit Japan for 26 seconds and killed tens of thousands? So the fact that they're trying to track it down probably means it's either not running (flying?) around, or is avoiding populated places. Really curious how snake girl managed to make a contract with it.
Tumblr media
Me listening to someone infodump about their superpowered OCs
Tumblr media
;u;
Tumblr media
I hate how they have veins. Cool design, but I haaate it.
Tumblr media
Ohhhhh the reveal that it's him happening way after the convo with Makima and the flashback is neat.
Stopping the liveread for now. Looking forward to the hotel arc!
