[ID: A mixture of digital and traditional artwork featuring a variety of stylized bugs. The first features the most in one image, with arthropods ranging from flies, weevils, cockroaches, ticks, mantids, and ants to dragonflies, grasshoppers, stinkbugs, big-eyed bugs, silverfish, and earwigs all cluttered around the drawing. The word "BUGS" is spelled out in big bubble letters to the left, going top-down instead of left-right. The next art piece compiles a few assets drawn for a web-design class, including things such as a stag beetle, tortoise beetle, a checkerspot butterfly resting on the word "Endangered", and two ladybugs holding up a banner that reads "Email Updates / Photo Submissions". The next drawing shows the stag beetle up close, with a patterned background using even smaller stag beetles to create a unified image. Artwork 4 showcases a simplified pillbug, styled to resemble a logo and placed within a black box background. The final image shows a comparison image of the tortoise beetle drawing, with the one to the left being from 2021 and the one to the right being from 2023. End ID]
People who like mantises but aren't that into entomology are always "orchid mantises" this and "orchid mantises" that. Overrated. Can we talk about Toxodera integrifolia for a minute:
(Image links because as much as it pains me I've never seen one of these beauties irl: 1 2 3)
Like how are these things real. Girl what is that thorax shape. Why are you wearing eyeliner. And the colors? Absolutely fire. This is a 10/10 insect if you ask me.
I was a bug detective investigating the heinous crimes of a praying mantis named Tony. By bug detective I don't mean a bug that is a detective, I was just some human dude who investigated bug crimes.
for all the bug fans out there I saw my first praying mantis today on the arm of my couch and from what i could tell they just mated and one was eating the other :)
New character!! This is Spike, they’re a scene kid who loves knitting and art! I struggle with using bright colors a lot, but I really like how I did this one! I also like how I made the side bangs using leaves, I don’t like hair on my anthro designs, but I feel like they would be empty without the classic scene kid hair.
The start of my webcomic that I drew almost a whole year ago that I ended up scrapping because I realized I wasn’t very good at writing out long stories. I’ll probably be using these two in future short comics though!
