Xiaomi has been long rumoured to launch its range of laptops in India. In January this year, the company filed a trademark for ‘RedmiBook’ with the Intellectual Property India website, hinting that a launch was around the corner. The RedmiBook 14 also bagged BIS certification in India in March. It now appears that the launch could be closer than we thought. Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has reportedly announced that the company will launch Mi/Redmi laptops in India soon, in an online meeting with retailers. The news was revealed by tipster Ishan Agarwal, who has a good track record with inside information. Xiaomi’s laptops are currently sold in its home market of China under both the Mi Notebook and RedmiBook line-ups. As per the source, Jain did not provide any launch dates or timelines for the laptop launches, which is expected considering the current restrictions that are in place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While Jain has reportedly informed his retail partners of the company’s decision to enter the laptop segment in India as soon as possible, we can safely expect it to be a couple of months before an actual launch takes place. As per Agarwal, Xiaomi has no plans to bring any of its tablets to India at present. Launches of upcoming phones like the Mi 10 Lite and Redmi K30 Pro were also not discussed in the meeting. . . . . #techies_page_xiaomi #techies_page_redmibook #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #xiaomi #mi #redmi #redmibook #redmibook14 #milaptop #laptop #laptops #tabs #tablet #tab #tablets #manukumarjain #india #mi10lite #redmik30pro #usa #uk #unitedkingdom #unitedstates #australia #europe #canada #minotebookair https://www.instagram.com/p/B_jlso1AlLf/?igshid=19fmp9xyd8toz

First Mi Home Store Launching in Bengaluru On May 11
Xiaomi has sent out press invites for an event in Bengaluru on May 11, where it is set to launch its first Mi Home store in India. The Mi Home store will be its first of a kind effort in the country, and is a milestone in Xiaomi’s small but significant journey in the Indian market.Manu Jain Group Vice President, and Managing Director, Xiaomi India has also given a hint on Twitter that Xiaomi has three events lined up for Indian this month starting with the Mi Home. Information around the other two events has not been revealed.
https://twitter.com/manukumarjain/status/860032693978800128
The launch will happen on 11 May and will see Manu Jain, Group Vice President, and Managing Director, Xiaomi India present for the opening. For those of you who don’t know, Xiaomi has special Mi Home stores in China where it showcases all of its products under one roof. The Home Store will sell accessories and products like power banks, headphones, Mi Band, Mi Air Purifier, and much more, but it isn’t sure whether the store will sell smartphones immediately. Bengaluru will be the first city to get the Mi Home store, but presumably other cities will get the stores as well, in the future.
Xiaomi primarily used online channels outside of China to sell its smartphones, but from October last year, it forayed into offline outside of its home country. The first country after China to get the Mi Home Store was Singapore, and now, after the Benglauru launch, there will be stores in five markets altogether – India, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

ALSO READ "Xiaomi becomes 'Most Preferred Smartphone Brand' in India, Beats Samsung, Apple"
The Chinese company has been redefining the Indian smartphone market ever since it entered in 2014. Last month, research firm Strategy Analytics published a study that states that Xiaomi is now apparently ranked as the most preferred smartphone brand for Indian Android users looking to upgrade their smartphones in 2017. The report notes that Xiaomi topped the preferred brands chart for the next smartphone purchase with 26 percent share, followed by Samsung and Apple.
The firm claims that the company has grown 125 percent year on year, a significant momentum for any smartphone company. This is because Xiaomi mainly made smartphones affordable and qualitative in the country, something that was missing before. The report also notes that the Indian premium smartphone segment (above Rs. 35,000) remains small at only 6 percent of potential buyers with over half of Indian smartphone buyers likely to spend between Rs. 10,000-20,000 only, something that Xiaomi caters to very well.

Xiaomi India Offers Discount Coupons in Exchange for Recycling Non-working Electronics Products
Xiaomi has announced an e-waste management program called Mi India Product Take-Back & Recycling Program for the country. As the name of the program suggests, the company will be taking non-operational electronic products, irrespective of their brand, for recycling purposes and, in exchange, provide them with Rs. 100 discount coupons, which can be used at company’s online store at a minimum purchase of Rs. 1,000.
https://twitter.com/manukumarjain/status/859741574233595904
Notably, the recycling program is only meant for the End of Life products and Xiaomi will not be offering repairs or replacements for the damaged or faulty products. “To act responsibly towards the environment, we have pledged to recycle electronic items, such as mobiles, power banks, speakers, headphones, etc. that are intended to be discarded as waste by the consumer,” the company said in a post. Xiaomi said that e-waste management solutions are currently offered by TES-AMM India.
In order to hand over your product, you need to fill in company’s online form after logging into your Mi account. After filling in the form, Mi India’s authorized recycler will contact you within 7 days and the products will be collected within 15 days of raising the pickup request. Users will not be charged any fee to get their products recycled through this program.
This can be seen as an extremely positive and an eco-friendly step taken by the Chinese smartphone maker and we would like to encourage all our readers who own non-operational electronic products to take part in this program and hand over their devices to the company instead of throwing them away in garbage. Mi is offering an e-waste take-back & recycling service that adheres to the E-waste (Management) Rules, 2016 issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India. To act responsibly towards the environment, we have pledged to recycle electronic items, such as mobiles, power banks, speakers, headphones, etc. that are intended to be discarded as waste by the consumer. When an electronic product reaches the end of its life, we take it back and recycle it. For this program, e-waste management solutions are currently offered by TES-AMM India.
FAQs 1. How does the take back program work? Simply fill out this e-waste recycling form – Click Here after logging into your Mi Account. Our Authorised e-waste recycler will contact you to pick up e-waste from your location, or you can also drop e-waste at any of our service centers. Please connect with our customer care for any queries.
2. What can I recycle? Under E-Waste Management & Handling Rules 2016, we will accept and recycle all mobile phones, power banks, chargers, speakers, headphones, and other electronic products sold in India, irrespective of their brand. It is advisable that you secure and erase all the data in your electronic devices before depositing them with us. 3. How recycling takes place? You can go through this video to know more about how recycling takes place.
4. Do I have to pay to get my electronics recycled? Consumers do not have to pay any fee to recycle products sold in India.
5. Can I get my damaged/faulty goods replaced under this program? No. This program is only for End of life products which are no longer functional. This program doesn’t support any exchanges or repairs. 6. Will I get any monetary benefit/discount by giving back the unused products in this takeback and recycling program? A discount coupon worth ₹100 for every pickup request will be added to your registered Mi account once your phone(s) is successfully picked up. Coupon will be applicable on minimum purchase value of ₹ 1000 only on accessories. Please note that coupons will only be given to customers who provide complete phone units only, not spare parts or other products. Customers will get coupons within 14 days of the pickup date. Mi India shall reserve the right to issue or reject the coupons at its sole discretion.
7. How long does it take to collect my products? Mi India’s authorized recycler will contact you within 7 days. Products will be collected within 15 days of raising the pickup request. Collection time will vary depending on your Area. If products are not collected within 15 days, please contact our Authorized e-waste recycler on email at [email protected]
