Latest haul today...
I got a chance to visit the bookstore today. I’ve been saving up my money since the beginning of the year and I got to make a run through the bookstore. I could have spent longer in there but the hubby was on a schedule so I kind of had to hurry. I did get some stuff that I’ve been looking for but I also found some other stuff that wasn’t exactly on my list either. When I’m normally browsing the…

Escape Room: Spoilers, My thoughts, and my selfish changes
literally just read this book and while I guessed most of it (except the connection between Cleo and Miles) it was good, fast paced, kept it interesting by switching povs. I will be completely honest I wish if we were going to go with the Sky being gay plot twist they had done without making it seem like he was gonna have a thing for Mint, because I was secretly hoping in the chapters before when he noted her looking nice, her hair, and comforting her that it had been falling for her.
That is also just my love for the bad boy/good girl.
I also kind of wished Miles had been crazy but for a different reason, like that he was actually crazy and obsessed with Alissa or she filled the lack of obsession that Karla filled. I really loved/hated when Alissa was not believing her friends, it was annoying but in a great story telling way and adding so much tension. Hence why I wished Sky and Mint had started liking each other or something because it could have made the reavel that Sky loved Alissa more dramatic because they could've had a kiss scene or something between him and Mint and then the drama of Alissa finding out that he loved her mixed with her fight with Mint and Miles having also threatening her previously.
Really liked the notes aspect and that Miles hid the one note only to be ratted out again later on

Rating: 3/5
Book Blurb: From horror powerhouse author Maren Stoffels comes the next pulse-quickening read! There's nowhere to hide when three teens find themselves in the middle of nowhere, with no internet and a killer hunting them down. Don't think you can get rid of me so fast. . . . No phones. No internet. No social media at all. That's what it's going to take to finally get serious about school and focus on exams. Nova, Vin, and Lotus even rented a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere so they won't get distracted. After that, everything can go back to normal. But they aren't alone. Someone is watching them from the forest. Someone who knows their secrets. Someone who wants revenge. And things will never be the same again.
Review:
Pretty Little Liars meets Scream in this young adult thriller about three teens who go to a farmhouse and are being hunted, but they all have their own secrets and they’ll have to reveal some of their own dark secrets if they want to make it out alive. Nova, Vin, and Lotus are all going to a farmhouse for a weekend to study. The only ground rules are : no phones, no internet, and no social media. They need to focus on school and their exams but they are not prepared for the distraction that is about to hit them. They aren’t alone, someone is out there with them, watching them, sending them threatening messages, and leaving traps. None of them are innocent, they all have done things they aren’t proud of and now it’s time to confess or pay the price. This was an interesting thriller read, it was short and easy to read. The ending could have had like an extra epilogue or some kind of “after” to show more of the fall out of the entire conclusion of the mystery but overall it was an interesting read.
*Thanks Netgalley and Random House Children's, Underlined for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

6 & 17 for the book asks :-)
Hii thanks so much for the ask!!!
6. what books have you read in the last month?
ive only been reading Build Your House Around My Body which is so so so so so sos so soss so ssoso so so so os o sos osos oso so so so good i think it should be a mandatory read i think everyone on the planet should read it i have like 60 pages to go and everything is finally starting to come together/make sense. connections are made. character A turns out to be character B but 60 years later it's so good. theres body horror theres regular horror it's all connected by the horrors of war and occupation. literal masterpiece
17. top 5 children’s books?
ooh this is fun i havent thought about children's books in so long.... these are just the books i have fond memories of, so in no particular order:
Geronimo Stilton Fantasia i loooved the scented pages
i loved this fucked up little book about teens (?) who were stranded on an island after a plane crash and then they're experimented on by an evil scientist and they turn into animals and escape? one turns into a fish the other into an eagle and the other one into a snake i believe (?) as far as im aware it's not animorphs but i havent been able to find the actual title. that said, this book where a guy turns into a fox which might have been animorphs was really cool as well but i genuinely dont remember the title + read it in dutch
i remember being really impressed with Met Mijn Ogen Dicht by Maren Stoffels.
The Gruffalo/The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Nijntje (Miffy) of course!!! i still love the ones that are written in local dialects (Nijntje git fietse, opao en opoe pluus) such a fun way to keep dialects approachable and alive :)
and how could i not mention classics like Peter Rabbit or Winnie the Pooh or Pippi Longstocking.. when i was young i first wanted to be a mermaid and then i wanted to be pippi because i thought she was soo cool

FRIGHT NIGHT
by Maren Stoffels
(Underlined, 9/1/20)
9780593175965
Add to Goodreads
Purchase from Indiebound
Full of menace and suspense comes this unputdownable original paperback thriller perfect for fans of Natasha Preston and Natalie D. Richards! Sofia isn't so sure about Fright Night. When she suggested it to her friends, she was only thinking of it as an excuse to get closer to Dylan. Now that it's happening, she's worried that spending the night in a deserted forest is a bad idea. But it's totally safe--there's even a safe word if things get too intense. And they do. Sofia and her friends are forced to face their greatest fears, and suddenly? It's too late to turn back.

Room Service Review
I read this book last week, and I'm only just now getting around to reviewing it. Room Service by Maren Stoffels is a whirlwind. I finished it in one sitting, because I couldn't put it down.
This is not the best book in the world, as the book is a little underdeveloped, but if you're looking for a book that will keep you distracted for a few hours, this is it. The characters are pretty cool, but certainly not my favorites.
