I uh. Listen, okay. Day after easter. Four of us siblings in town, descending upon Barnes and Noble with money in our bank accounts and, as always, a keen ability to justify each other's purchases. In total, the four of us spent two hundred? three hundred dollars? I got a bunch of supplemental Riordanverse books (Camp Jupiter Classified, Demigod Files, Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes and Greek Gods, and the graphic novel edition of Sea of Monsters) to read once I finish Trials of Apollo, and I also picked up a lovely copy of Alice and Wonderland (for my collection of copies of Alice and Wonderland 😁)

uhhhhh, I think it was the first Trials of Apollo book. The last few chapters, which I made it to around twelve-thirty, re-introduce one of my blorbos from the previous series, so every seven seconds I had to stop and stim for a couple seconds (I'm 80% sure I might've thrown the book or slapped myself in the face on more than one occasion during this time.) and yeah. After I finished I was just so excited I couldn't sleep at all for a bit 😁

Another month of 2023 gone! And honestly, I'm not sad to see it go. August is a difficult month for me now. It marked the one year anniversary of my brother passing away. Luckily I had some good books to get me through.

Books Read: 7

While I didn't read as much as I did last month, I did read plenty of great books. My favorite was, of course, Painted Devils, the sequel to Little Thieves. I also had a lovely time rereading The Secret Garden, and I FINALLY finished The Little Friend! It only took me four tries! My least favorite was definitely Literary Women, which I read for my dissertation. It wasn't awful, but for a book called Literary Women, it sure talked about literary men an awful lot...

Many years ago, I first started tallying the books from the BBC Big Read list, seeing how my reading and interests correllate. I don't take it as the "one truth" on which books are worth reading or "good", I just find it interesting which ones I agree with. Let's go!

Some of the books to read I know very little about except the title and that they're classics, some others I know a lot about (and I even have "Men at Arms" on my TBR pile for when the mood strikes me next). I like reading classics once in a while, but especially older ones I can't read too often, I need to be in the right mood for that style of writing.

The last time I updated this was in 2015 and I had read 44 and wanted to read 72 - so 15 books in 9 years xD Like I said, it's not a challenge or a goal to read all of them, just a convenient way of keeping track of which classics I want to read eventually.
