I cannot explain how fucking sick it is that after over a century we are still portraying maria reynolds as the villain.
most women had no choice in who they married
women were defined as property by law
she was most likely married very young given that getting your first period meant you were ready for marriage
she couldn't say no even if she tried, ironic considering the song's title
she was most likely not lying when she said her husband was abusing her
divorce was taboo, even when initiated by the husband
even if she managed to get away from him she would have nowhere to go
her husband's reaction to 'finding out' about Alexander was allowing him to continue seeing her in exchange for payment
her husband was the town drunk, which most likely meant they did this for a living
her lines in Hamilton clearly had a pained tone to them, full of regret
meanwhile, her husband's lines were delivered with an arrogant tone
not to mention Alexander knew he was married and still decided to sleep with her
and he continued to see her when his wife had returned from her travels even though his main 'reason' for cheating was loneliness
when the Reynolds papers were released I guarantee that Alexander only got a fraction of what she had to deal with
alexander was likely not the only person they did this to
what they were doing violated a myriad of colonial laws, so when the Reynolds papers were released people were most likely put to death because he couldn't handle the matter privately like a normal person
maria was not the only woman who suffered from that decision, given the fact that he had a wife and a son
not to mention Eliza most likely suffered more from the backlash given the fact that she had no way of standing up for herself
also, can we talk about the fact he was still thinking of Angelica even after he had a son with Eliza
he released those papers without considering the fact that he was not the only one who would be punished
Maria Reynolds is the real victim in Hamilton.
fuck you, James Reynolds.

Just a few things about Maria—
1. She’s a wonderful singer, def in choir
2. Loves acting, and she’s pretty good at it
3. She’s pretty popular, though not much of a bully
4. A bit gullible, but she mostly just wants support after a harsh childhood
5. Acts independent, is definitely codependent on her friends & James
6. I feel like she’d be pansexual, bc love is love, but she’s closeted, and eventually just shuns those feelings away because of, yeah, you guessed it, ✨James✨
7. Her favorite colors are red or pink paired with black
8. She has a nose piercing and her eats pierced
9. She has a huge sweet tooth, but she has a tolerance for spicy things
10. Loves chocolate
11. She can be shy, but she isn’t prone to sequestering
12. Pretty good grades
I’ll add anything else I think of but I’m sick rn so who knows if I’ll even agree with myself in the morning

I really want to talk about the Reynolds - Hamilton affair and the Pamphlet. I feel like people completely misunderstand it and never look at both sides of the story, I feel as though they get all of their information from ‘Hamilton’, Pinterest, Tiktok, Tumblr etc. Firstly I want to say Maria Reynolds was not a “wh0re” like people say she is, she was a victim.
She was forced into it, she went to Hamilton as he was known for his kindness and generosity she just wanted help, he helped her and they ended up sleeping together and then he got blackmailed by JAMES REYNOLDS not Maria into carrying on the affair for financial reasons. She was pretty much sold for money. Maria needed help to get out of her abusive marriage, she wanted love and happiness not the marriage she was in.
Now onto Alexander Hamilton. Before you absolutely tear me to pieces I’m not saying Alexander was completely innocent or that he was in the right I’m saying that neither he or Maria were the villains, James Reynolds was. Hamilton should’ve stopped this affair straight away I agree obviously being blackmailed for money would’ve been quite a tricky situation to get yourself out of I mean it’s karma at it’s finest right? Now onto the actual pamphlet. The pamphlet completely ruined Maria and her reputation and her life effectively which is not fair at all if anything she should’ve been supported and helped out but no, people scorned her and pretty much forced her to move out of the country to Britain with her second husband. Alexander published the whole affair honestly letting everyone know what he did obviously not knowing how badly this would damage both his and Maria’s reputation and also Eliza’s.
In conclusion James Reynolds is a horrible person, Maria was a victim who deserved so much better and Alexander was an idiot but not necessarily a bad person. I have so much else to say about this situation but I won’t because I don’t people to twist my words. :))

chapter four: gifts from hestia
(masterlist) (part 1) (part 2) (part 3)
hello beautiful people <3 here's part 4!!
synopsis: After deciding to let Abby live, Ellie has returned to Jackson. But given everything she's lost, it no longer feels like home. She's sad, she's confused, and above all else, she is so, so very lonely. So when a group of strangers shows up and offers her a second chance, she might just take them up on that. Ellie must decide between staying in Jackson – and living with the ghosts of her past – or leaving in search of new meaning. Whatever she decides, her choice will have far-reaching consequences – not just for herself, or for Jackson, but for all of humanity.
Or,
Ellie saves the world, maybe?
(ellie williams x reader, post-tlou2, useless lesbians, slow burn, cross country road trip, lots of references to greek mythology, etc.)
Hestia: Greek goddess of hearth and home. Originates from the Greek word “Ἑστία,” meaning “hearth” or “fireside.”
[Ellie]
Ellie could feel the stares before they even got to the town center. As news does in small towns, word of the new arrivals and their conversation the night before seemed to have already made its way around the entire community. Ellie could hear murmured conversations as she passed by, and it was obvious she was the topic of interest. After all, it wasn’t very often that a group of strangers showed up and took someone with them when they left. Even less common, though, was the revelation of that person’s immunity, which inevitably became the talk of the town.
Ellie kept her head down as she walked. Never before had so many people known her secret, and despite having no control over her situation, she still felt guilty. She felt, of all people, she was the last person who deserved such a gift. And now, walking through the town center, everyone else seemed to feel that way too.
When they arrived at the dining hall, the newcomers were already waiting. When Dr. Reynolds noticed the packed bag on Ellie’s back, his face lit up. He clasped his hands together and exclaimed, “Ms. Williams! We’re thrilled you’ve decided to join us.” Next to him, Lucy smiled widely.
“Uh… yeah, no problem,” Ellie replied awkwardly. She couldn’t help but notice other townspeople taking a keen interest in their interaction. Part of her wished Dr. Reynolds would tone it down a few decibels, and she tried to swallow her embarrassment.
Lucy fished around for something in her bag. “Here, we got some food for you already,” she said as she handed Ellie some canned goods. “We didn’t know what you would decide, but he’s the eternal optimist.” She nodded her head towards her father, who grinned with excitement. “Says he had a good feeling about you.”
Ellie looked between the two and, against her better judgment, felt herself warming up to the pair. Hard as she tried, it was difficult to dislike them. “Thanks,” she said.
Putting her hand on Ellie’s shoulder, Maria said, “Well, let’s get you all on the road then, shall we? The gate is this way.”
After a short walk, the group arrived at the entrance and Maria gave the order to open the doors. The newcomers made their way through the opening, but Ellie lingered inside. Wanting to say something, she turned to Maria, but words escaped her. Maria, usually so eloquent, seemed at a loss too. Instead, the woman reached forward and embraced Ellie in a tight hug.
Still holding on, Maria said, “Ellie, I know we’ve had our differences in the past, but I want you to know how much I care about you. You’ve been through more than anyone should ever have to go through, and I’ve seen how much it’s weighed on you these past few years. Whatever happens out there, I hope you find the peace you’re looking for.”
Ellie exhaled deeply. “Me, too,” was all she said. It was all she needed to say.
They were interrupted by someone nearby clearing their throat. Turning to see who it was, Ellie almost couldn’t believe who she saw. Even after so many years, she was still surprised by how similar he and Joel looked –  the same deep lines around his mouth and nose, the same tired eyes. Well, just eye, now.
“Hey, Tommy,” she said as she approached cautiously. She’d barely spoken to Tommy since returning, and she wasn’t sure what his intentions were. They both stood with their hands in their pockets.
“Hey, Ellie,” he replied. Even the way they said her name was the same. “I, uh… I heard you were leaving.” Ellie gave a tight-lipped smile and nodded in confirmation.
“Well, I just wanted to see you before you left. I, uh… I wanted to give you this.” He took something out of his pocket and handed it to her. It was small and flat, and displayed a hand drawn picture of a moth. She instantly recognized it as one of Joel’s guitar picks.
Tommy continued nervously, “It was one of his favorites. Kept the damn thing on him all the time. Thought you might like to have it.”
She could recall many a night when she had watched Joel on the porch with his guitar, that very same pick in hand. The memories brought a soft smile to her face.
“He’d be proud of you, y’know,” Tommy said quietly. “No doubt in my mind about it.”
Ellie felt her throat tighten. Not wanting to cry, all she responded with was, “Thanks, Tommy.”
He cleared his throat again. “Right, well, don’t wanna hold you up. Good luck out there.” He gave a final nod and walked back toward the center of town. Ellie stood watching him for a moment, then turned back towards the gate. She waved to a tearful Maria as the large doors closed behind her.
The short hike was largely uneventful. The early-autumn air meant they didn’t work up much of a sweat as they made their way through the forest. Lucy and Dr. Reynolds occasionally conversed about the wildlife, but the other three mostly remained silent. After about an hour, they stumbled out onto a paved road and approached a large truck parked nearby. They loaded their belongings into the back of the military-grade vehicle and took their seats in the cab. In the backseat, Lucy sat in the middle, with Dr. Reynolds to her left and Ellie to her right. Ellie leaned her head on the window to watch the foliage pass by, trying to cement into memory the place she once called home.
They stopped briefly every few hours to stretch their legs, until the sun began to set and Jacobs suggested they make camp for the night. The two guards left to check their surroundings while Lucy and Dr. Reynolds began to unpack the truck. They all moved with such efficiency that Ellie could tell they’d completed this routine many times before.
As he retrieved items from the truck, Dr. Reynolds said to Ellie, “I’m going to start a fire and get some food going. Would you mind helping unpack the rest? Lucy can show you what to grab.”
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and walked away. Lucy stood in the bed of the truck and waved Ellie over. When Ellie joined her, Lucy handed her items to carry.
“It’s mostly just sleeping bags and blankets,” Lucy explained, jumping down from the truck with a roll of fabric under each arm. “We have tents, too, but we only put them up when it rains. Saves time.”
“Makes sense,” Ellie replied.
“Alvaro and Jacobs alternate taking watch during the night. We’ve offered to help, but they insist on doing it themselves.” Lucy gave an exaggerated eye roll and smiled playfully. “Helps them feel like real macho-men, I think. But whatever floats their boat, I guess. More sleep for me.”
They finished laying the sleeping bags around the fire as Alvaro and Jacobs returned from their patrol of the area.
“Looks quiet,” Alvaro confirmed.
“That’s what I like to hear!” said Dr. Reynolds as he handed the men bowls of hot food. He then handed one to Ellie, which she accepted gratefully, realizing she hadn’t eaten all day.
She watched the fire as she ate, listening quietly to the others’ conversations. She didn’t know any of the people they were talking about, and she was more interested in Lucy and Dr. Reynolds’ relationship anyway. Ellie had known them for less than twenty-four hours, but it didn’t even take a whole minute to see how much they cared for each other. Lucy feigned annoyance during his tangents and ramblings, but she looked at him with such admiration it was clear she loved him deeply. Their back-and-forth was so easy, so comfortable. Observing their dynamic made Ellie a bit jealous, but mostly it just made her sad. It felt like watching an alternate version of her life – one that could have been, but would never be.
She pulled her legs to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. She lost herself in thought as she gazed sadly into the fire, only vaguely aware of Dr. Reynolds asking Jacobs a question. She didn’t notice Lucy until the other girl sat down right beside her.
“You looked cold,” Lucy explained quietly as she wrapped a blanket around Ellie’s shoulders. “How are you feeling?”
“Warmer,” Ellie replied cautiously, surprised by the kind gesture.
Lucy laughed. “Well, that’s good. But I meant, like, how are you feeling… otherwise? You looked a little upset.”
Ellie scratched the back of her neck in embarrassment. “Oh, yeah, um, I’m okay. Just… missing someone, I guess.”
Lucy nodded solemnly. “That’s understandable. Did you get to say goodbye to them, at least?”
Ellie shook her head. “No, he, uh… he’s been gone a long time.”
“Oh. I’m really sorry, Ellie.”
Ellie smiled sadly. “Thanks.”
Lucy absentmindedly ran a thumb over the tattoo on her wrist. Those dots – they seemed so familiar, but Ellie still couldn’t place where she’d seen them before. Lucy gazed at the fire as she said softly, “I know what it’s like to miss someone, too.” Ellie watched as the flames reflected in Lucy’s deep brown eyes.
Lucy continued, “I had a brother. A twin, actually. His name was Erebus.” She smiled to herself. “The name’s kind of out-there, I know. But our mom was a Classics professor. She was really into the Greeks or something. I never got to meet her, but my dad’s told me all about her. He says when my brother and I were born, the only way to tell us apart was our hair. His was really dark and mine was, well, like this” – she gestured to her strawberry-blonde curls – “and my mom knew just what to call us. Erebus and Lucia, darkness and light. Twins, poetic duality, yada yada yada.”
“Wow, you sure she wasn’t secretly a Firefly?” Ellie joked. “They really took that whole ‘ When you’re lost in the darkness, look for the light’ thing and ran with it.”
Lucy made an exaggerated time-out motion and said facetiously, “Woah, woah, woah. I cannot believe you just talked about my dead mother like that.” Ellie laughed, glad to have broken the ice between them. It was hard enough leaving Jackson, the least she could do was try to make a friend. She found herself feeling immensely grateful that someone her own age had come looking for her.
“And anyway,” Lucy said as she poked Ellie’s shoulder. “It’s not just me. Your mom must have been a Firefly too.” Ellie’s confusion must have shown on her face, because Lucy quickly explained, “Y’know… Ellie, Elizabeth, Liz. They all come from lux , which is light in Latin.” Lucy nudged Ellie’s shoulder with her own to emphasize the point. “That means you’re part of the light too, Ellie.”
Lucy yawned deeply and stood up. “Alright, enough history for now. All this sitting has me exhausted. There are extra blankets, so just let me know if you get cold again.” She gave Ellie a warm smile and turned to walk back to her own spot. Before leaving, though, she turned back and said, “I know it probably doesn’t mean much, but we’re really glad you’re here.”
Ellie smiled back as she watched the other girl turn away. She tucked herself into her own sleeping bag and propped up her backpack as a makeshift pillow. She considered what Lucy had said about their names. Despite the unpleasant taste the Firefly motto left in her mouth, she still liked the possibility of helping make the world a little brighter. And out of anyone she had ever met, she felt like Dr. Reynolds’ team had the best chance at doing just that.
We’re really glad you’re here. As Ellie drifted off to sleep, she decided, definitively, that she was glad to be there, too.

If Mha's hero course (specifically 1A & 1B) performed Hamilton, this is who I think would play each character (and little explanation).
Hamilton- Midoriya (he's the main character I mean come on it just matches up so well)
Burr- Todoroki (I just don't see Todoroki matching up with any other character, I feel he could play Burr well, it's a feeling in my heart)
Hercules Mulligan- Sato (look ik Sato isn't given much depth at all but I feel like the voices of him and Hercules lines up pretty well and I just want to give the poor guy SOMETHING to play, he never gets it anywhere else 😭)
Lafayette- Aoyama (ok yes a big part was the French speaking an accent that I think Aoyama could do better than the other, but I also think Aoyama has the capability of singing Lafayette's rap part)
John Laurens- Sero (again I think it's just cause the voices could match up)
Angelica- Momo (I just associate Angelica and Momo because they are both intelligent and care about the feelings of others also red color scheme)
Eliza- Uraraka (not because Midoriya is Hamilton, actually maybe a little bit 😶 but because I feel Uraraka could absolutely sing Burn really well)
Peggy- Asui (I just really want to hear Asui go "and Peggy") OR Mina (I can't really choose which one)
Washington- Iida (I mean- come on. Do I really have to explain my thoughts process here? He's the president)
King George- Monoma (the sass and flare he would give in this role would be UNMATCHED)
Samuel Seabury- Awase (he gives me that vibe)
George Eacker- Shinso (I know him and Midoriya aren't beefing anymore but I want the drama and I know he can serve that drama)
Philip Hamilton- Kaminari (he can give energy, that's all really ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
That one Bullet Ensemble character- Jiro (I have no explanation but I feel jirou just needs to have a significant role in this)
Maria Reynolds- Mina (maybe because ik she would give all the drama ✨ but also because I wanted her to be cast as Peggy but now I'm leaning towards Asui for that one, idk)
James Madison- Kirishima (he's bff's with the next guy and I can't separate them 😭) You simply must meet
Thomas Jefferson- Bakugo (the SASS, the ROASTS, the RIVALRY yet RESPECT AT THE END between Hamilton and friendship towards Madison and Burr I guess)
Charles Lee- Mineta (nothing to do with character or anything I just so desperately want to see him standing on a box going "I'm a general, WEEEEEEE")
The one Ensemble that is next to King George with his songs- Kendo (I just want there banter somehow included in this)
The doctor for the duels- Koda (I want to see him in glasses :>)
BOOK GUY- Ojiro (I know he has moves, I want him to do the moves with the books) (also give Book Guy the respect and admiration he deserves 😔)
+Bonus- the rest of Class 1b are Redcoat ensemble while the rest of Class 1a are Bluecoat ensemble
If you want me to do the same thing but Class 1B gets the main roles, I have those ideas as well, lmk (I might do it anyway, but I forget 🥲)

“If everyone’s – then why are you still –?” “Why am I still here?” Jefferson tuts, “How rude, Alexander, I really thought I’d taught you better manners than that. You can’t seriously fall asleep in the middle of what I assume counts for a party with you people, and then demand things from me so brusquely?”
***
For once in his life, Alexander was enjoying taking a break from work. He wasn't expecting it to come crashing down so abruptly. Raise a glass to freedom, something you will never see again... Jefferson decides he deserves a little something for Christmas. As a treat. From what I hear, you've made yourself indispensable... Everyone's timing couldn't be worse if they actively tried. I may not live to see our glory...

why hello there bestie before i go to sleep i would like to drop into your ask box with a very important query (haha queer). when you said you associated little lion man with the reynolds pamphlet, did you think of it (specifically the chorus) as something directed to maria or eliza? i always thought of it as maria, but I listened to it again recently and the fact that it could be eliza occurred to me. i mean with "it was not your fault but mine" uhhhh yeah. duh. how could it be elizas. but that also sounds like something hamilton would say... and something he wouldn't say to maria considering how intent on blaming her it was. also the my dear strikes me as a very eliza thing to say to eliza. anways I could go on and on sorry for rambling I just wanted to know what you though. thank you for humoring me :)
why hello there bestie tis indeed a pleasure to see you in my inbox!!!
hehe queer indeed
Ohh yeah I always saw the song as starting off as a narrator talking about Hamilton, then Hamilton talking, then flashbacks to Laurens and Hamilton. After all, when he broke Eliza’s heart by sleeping with Maria, don’t you think he might’ve remembered another heart he broke by sleeping with a beautiful woman? The heart of a man now long dead.
I’m just gonna go ahead and analyse the shit out of this because why not
Weep for yourself, my man You'll never be what is in your heart Weep, little lion man You're not as brave as you were at the start
Narrator talking about Hamilton, Alex is pretty much alone in his room trying not to cry because he knows he’s hurt Eliza and he doesn’t know if she will ever forgive him. He hasn’t cried in years but as the tears start to come he remembers days like this during the war, Lafayette being one of the only ones he trusted to see him like this, and the old nickname echoes in his ears. He’s not as brave as he was during the war, but he’ll get through this. Somehow.
Rate yourself and rake yourself Take all the courage you have left And waste it on fixing all the problems That you made in your own head
Hamilton starts to hate himself for what he’s done, rightfully, he thinks, because how many people has he hurt with his stupid decisions? He had to fix it somehow, he thinks, and he gets up and goes to Eliza’s room. Maybe he can fix the problems. The problems he himself created.
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear? Didn't I, my-
And here is when the song is Hamilton’s own words, as he tells Eliza that this isn’t her fault and she was a wonderful wife, better than he could ever ask form better than he ever deserved, bastard that he was, and she was an absolutely angel and he loves her so much. It was my fault, not yours, he tells her, and he’s fucked up terribly, hasn’t he? And he’s sorry. He really is.
Tremble for yourself, my man You know that you have seen this all before Tremble, little lion man You'll never settle any of your scores
And as Eliza slams the door in his face he is left standing there and he walks a few steps in the hallway before falling to his knees trembling and crying crying crying because he’s ruined it. Someone loved him someone loved him when he was at his worst and now she doesn’t and this is his fault.
Tremble for yourself, my man, you know that you have seen this all before.
And as he kneels there crying his heart out he freezes and he remembers.
An October evening in the year of 1782 when he was a younger man. A happier man. A more hopeful man. Until he received the news.
And he knows that he has seen this all before, he remembers writing the letter telling Laurens the news, remembers the response he got, a quiet letter with few words and three words at the end that made him tear up and cast the letter into the fire, he remembers the look on Jack’s face the first time they met after he had married, the look of betrayal and pain and anger and the quiet fire in his eyes, the same fire that now blazed in Eliza’s eyes, though this fire was a reflection of the very real one blazing in her room right now rather than a fire of the soul.
And it is the same all over again and he is standing in an empty bloody battlefield alone alone alone except for the man in front of him and he twenty years old again staring staring staring at the man he loved and there are tears in his eyes. John’s or Alex’s? Does it matter?
Why does he ruin everything? He ruins everything.
Your grace is wasted in your face Your boldness stands alone among the wreck Now learn from your mother or else Spend your days biting your own neck
Lafayette had commented once, after Alex had stumbled and almost spilled some ink onto his desk, that all the little lion’s grace had been given to his extraordinary beauty and not his manners, and Alex had smiled clumsily at this while Jack had blushed in the background.
And he had fucked it up, he had fucked it up, he had fucked it up. He always fucks it up.
He remembers when he was a teenager and standing in the wooden debris on the shore of the island, and the storm had ripped his home apart and killed the people he grew up with and now he remained, his boldness standing alone among the wreck, as he quietly watched the waves lap onto the sure as though they hadn’t wreaked destruction upon the soil he loved just a few hours ago.
Anything that Alex would ever love, anyone that Alex would ever love, would end up being destroyed. Either by fate, or by his own actions, though were the two not intertwined, one and the same?
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear?
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear? Didn't I, my dear?
And Alex sits there, crying, crying, crying, crying his heart out because he’s fucked it up again.
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear?
But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear? Didn't I, my dear?
And Alex is standing in front of the door of the room, watching Eliza stand quietly in front of the fire, and there is silence. She is no longer blazing with anger, and he stands in the doorway and tells her earnestly, with full sincerity
“It was not your fault, love, but mine, and it was your heart on the line.”
Eliza sniffs.
“I really fucked it up this time, didn’t I, my dear?” He laughs softly, and blinks quickly to stop the tears from coming. “Didn’t I, my dear?”
