First 95 of Azovstal defenders returned to Ukraine today, on June 29 2022! They were freed as part of PoW exchange between Ukraine and russia. This is amazing news. Ukraine worked hard so that they could return home.
And just 3 days ago, on June 25-26, demonstrations under the motto Free Azovstal Defenders! were held in several dozens cities all around the world. This helped bring the attention of international organizations to their situation.
Now we must fight for the return of all the other defenders of Azovstal! We need to fight so that every captive Ukrainian comes home alive and well.
"We hope to secure the release of a fairly significant number of our prisoners of war in the very near future. The media will be informed as soon as it happens."
215 Ukraine POWs have been exchanged for Russians, with 200 of them just for Medvedchuk! 5 Azovstal defenders included, who will remain in Turkey until the end of war under that country's protection, while the rest are heading home to Ukraine.
Still many remain in captivity, but 215 brave souls are coming home and I am grateful for that.
Spouses Vitaly and Alla Taran, Azov Regiment staff, died in Mariupol in the war
Vitaly and Alla married and had a son in Mariupol. The couple worked in the kitchen almost from the very beginning of the Azov Regiment’s founding in 2014. Then they joined the service: the woman became a clerk and the man became the director of finance. But Vitaly died on April 15 in the war. And on May 8, an air bomb killed Alla. Their young son was left an orphan.
, Deputy Commander of the Azov Regiment, told the tragic story of the family. The man says that unfortunately, whole families are dying in Mariupol now.
We have no right to forget anyone. Eternal memory to the departed!
