People who deny a problem with WayV completely catering to the KRN GP/having no Chinese bsides on 'Frequency' are playing willfully ignorant and obtuse. There's no issue in enjoying the music and, in fact, it's a good thing, but the problem arises when there's no acknowledgement as to why they're moving into a 'global group' branding rather than NCT China.

The reason is simply that SM are xenophobic and cannot manage them, and have sabotaged them - knowingly or not - at every turn. 1. Having 127 take their debut song (Regular) so they look like they've debuted with a remix instead of the original. 2. Putting them on a 2 year hiatus for someone who ended up leaving regardless. 3. Refusing to promote them a sufficient amount in either china or Korea during their first few years until they changed sub management. 4. No world tour after 5 years, and their first tour ended after a small amount of shows.

There are others, such as changing up schedules last minute so Winwin can't join or just the general SM plight of overwork and horrid care of artists. But, specifically, they had butchered the chinese market and instead of trying to restore it by taking them to varieties or activities (like they're doing with Wish), they're completely alienating the original audience.

I'm happy they're getting wins and more acknowledgment - duh! They debuted as a Chinese group and, while there's room for growth - it's clearly xenophobia to have only a version of a title track in cn and blame WayV for their 'unpopularity' when we know what the underlying reason for why they think this. The same amount of care from the beginning would have gotten them to this level faster. Yes, there's the relationship between SKorea and China that's shaky, but SM have more than enough money to navigate and make WayV work in both domestic and international markets.

Noting that I went to a catholic high school in the midwestern US, I would say that between 30-40% of my classmates followed a life path similar to the following (so not even half, but still a significant amount):

1) Age 18-21: start dating someone in uni

2) Age 22/23: get a job shortly after graduation (or have one already organized, probably from a summer internship while in uni)

3) Age 22-24: get engaged to your uni bf/gf within a year of graduating, once you both have jobs basically

4) Age 23-26: wedding within a year or two of getting engaged, also buy a house if you have that kind of money lol

5) 9 months to 1 year after wedding (so 24-26 generally): baby!

I think it's important to note that this culture is able to continue because many college-educated young USAmericans are able to get a decent job very soon after graduating, which speeds up the rest of the process quite a bit. For people who are not able to get a job quickly, or who choose to do further studies, add on a few years. (And for people who don't go to uni, subtract a few!)

yeah i was gonna say, the only thing i envy of that is the getting a job so early and easy lol. i think that's also the main difference or why people aren't married so early here. in my experience (note that i went to a private upper class school so almost everyone went to university and pretty much everyone is employed right now except me lol)

1) 18-23. uni. a bunch of them were dating before uni, others during, some after, you know how it goes. and also a lot of them didn't date (like me).

2) 23-25. finishing uni, doing a master's degree, and or living abroad (usually to work).

3) 25-26. come back to spain and work here, or finished studying and got a job. they start dating seriously.

4) 26-28. if they've been dating for a while, engagement. if not, they continue the grind. if they live abroad especially which is honestly more than half of my circle rn they won't want to get engaged until they come back or decide to stay in the other country (normally their partner is from there).

5) 28-30. this is the future for me so i'm just speculating, but here is marriage + baby for those who can afford it. keep in mind most of us this age are still living with our parents so. that's another thing to have in mind.

more or less that's the idea here. you first want to have a stable job, then a stable house, and then you can start thinking about proposing and weddings and kids. and that doesn't happen soon.

hi all

🥲🥲 my account, @therentyoupay, was terminated today while i was eating dinner.

i have contacted tumblr support but reddit says that getting reinstated is really hit or miss. i don’t trust tumblr anymore so i don’t think i will be using it after this, even if they give me my account back. i have no idea what triggered its termination.

all posts from the last eleven years, as well as my fic-only blog (@therentyoupay-fanfiction), my advice blog, my organized fandom event blogs (@evenly-matched and @jelsaweekend), and my main have all been terminated. all the tumblr-only fic, the master posts, the manifestos, mutuals who i had not yet gotten phone numbers for, and fanart—gone.

will i be able to get it reinstated? i don’t know. even if i do, i think it’s a sign that it’s time to move away from tumblr.

it feels weird. i feel okay and also a little bereft. i hadn’t used tumblr for three years at one point but it was always nice to know that i could come back to it.

not sure if there is anything better than tumblr at this point. i think it might be time to just make a website of my own; or just stick to ao3.

i’ll use this account for now as a catchall for anyone who might be trying to find me. otherwise, the surest bet, for now, is ao3 and ao3 only.

As a human who did her undergrad dissertation in law in international trade and the lack of protections the government currently has in place in regards to facilitating and protecting it. Only for Covid to happen and international trade get railed, destroyed, completely like overhauling the entire system in regards to ensuring anything.

Everything, not just international long form trade now sitting in the face of incredible market fluctuations and uncertainty due to Trump and his tariffs. The way that he’s essentially leaving so many business owners in incredible positions where, for example, people have stock or product coming in from China worth $30,000. It’s worth more than 100% than they were charged? A 100% tariff means that stock is now charged that $60,000- which is insane.

First of all, I don’t think he legally even has the rights or the ability to make such declarations and changes yet no one seems to be stopping him? or making any attempts to??

But I can see major overhauls that would be coming in from Policy owners, banks and brokers. The insurance industry is about to overhaul entirely all over again just because of this stupid man.

For instance, did you know a lot of large form contracts done for public infrastructure (and I’m specific because I have seen the implementation/ discussion of these as well) I know that they specifically do not cover pandemics anymore ?

Insurance policies, when considering the development of a public infrastructure which obviously involves the shipping or the purchase of large amounts of construction materials or materials overall from different countries in order to complete. The construction has levels and limits that the company would have to agree to in regards to what insurance policies would cover, of course. But when we consider the contracts that they have undertaken at a service level they’re also is, as you know your typical force major clauses which now actually do not protect pandemics. It’s very, very interesting and I think that the development of the ‘new standard’ baseline are so interesting - but you can just see the knock on effect that Trump‘s policies are going to have on not only companies trying to claim insurance money back for the actual fallout of these situations he’s causing, but brokers, policy makers, banks themselves are all gonna be like, ‘we don’t wanna be in a situation where we have to pay out again’. It’s trying to find that balance of reasonableness in regards to what you can actually consider someone paying for. What kind of limitations are you going to be putting in place in order to ensure that you aren’t just ensuring for something that’s going to happen? How are you going to limit the scope in a way that’s going to benefit your policy makers but also people taking out the policies and the people funding those policies! Because in the end insurance is a percentages game, you don’t want to get caught in a payout. It’ll be interesting to see what realistically will come out of development in the next couple of months, maybe even a shorter timeline to be very honest. But what they do in the short term and what they do in the long term, especially when it comes to huge shipping contracts will be very interesting to see.
