Not a recent photo, I haven’t done any shoots in a while so I need to book some soon but feel like this one captures my current feeling and FOCUS on the upcoming competitions (oh, did I just say “Competitions” plural?? 😮keep reading 😉). Guys, it’s kinda crazy because this prep has come together twice as quickly as my preps last year, despite the rocky start due to everything going on in my life including a big career change into real estate, which has been AMAZING btw!!😄 So What has changed that is resulting in my prep going so well? Couple key things I’d say, better work schedule which has allowed me to focus more on training, supplements sponsored by City Supplements @citysupplements which has helped me with recovery, fatigue and sleeping better, SLEEP - I’ve been getting 8-10 hours a night which in turns helps with recovery. Mentally and emotionally I get stronger every year so that also contributes immensely to a successful prep and allows me to stay focused 1000% on my goal without being tempted by food or other distractions. Don’t get me wrong, prep is TOUGH...! But so am I..💪🏻😊 SO, Competitions...!!! I’ve been talking for a few weeks about NorCal Championships which is in 2 WEEKS!! Also, I have only been telling ppl here and there but haven’t officially announced that I registered last month for Jr Nationals in Chicago!😄🙌🏻🎉 I was back and forth on doing the show at the beginning of prep because I just wasn’t sure how long it was going to take my to get my butt in gear. But I literally said to myself okay Markie, this is it. You’ve started prep, now get yo shit together and get ready for your first National show of 2018 and make it Happen!! And here I am, a little less than 4 weeks out and right on track where I want to be. I’ve worked SO hard to prepare for this competition and no matter what happens tomorrow, I’m extremely proud of the journey I’ve been on to get here. My journey started before I even got involved in Bodybuilding so this is a huge moment for me personally but just the beginning when I put things into perspective. Okay, sorry for the delayed show update! Since I wasn’t blowing up your IG feed hours ago lol you may have already guessed that I didn’t make the top 5, and that’s okay 🙂 I LOVE the physique I brought today, it was exactly what I wanted, lean but full 👌🏼 I know some areas that I want to keep improving, some changes will happen before the next show and others will take until next year. This sport takes time and it’s crucial that you enjoy the journey and not rush the process. I love competing, I love the challenge that this sport presents and it makes me strive to be better. Happy Wednesday guys!! Just want to share some of the official stage photos from my routine at prejudging and still have photos and video pending from finals. Can you tell how crappy I felt in these photos?! I hope not lol!! I felt like I’d been hit by a bus on the morning of show day with full blown sore throat, sinus infection, and a pounding headache 😝😷 Just goes to show you can have a near “perfect” prep but it can be the final hours where you’re really put to the test! Despite being sick (and still under the weather now 😩) I won 1st place and got to compete in the overall, which I did not win of course but the girl who did take overall looked awesome and I’m happy for her 😊🙌🏼💗 So, not really time to celebrate because I have to be back on stage in Chicago Nationals in 9 days so I am pushing hard this week and plan to come in a little leaner and tighter than I was here for NorCal Championships. ALSO!!! I need to prep my skin better because my ph levels were way off!! Messed up my tan too on my back and butt which is unfortunate because it distorts the appearance of my lower glutes 🤦‍♀️ Case in point, your competition spray tan AND prep is really important and WILL affect your appearance and placement in a competition so don’t get forget about that during your prep!! Dear Body, You have expressed how you are feeling today and I acknowledge these feelings. I acknowledge the hunger you feel from weeks of being in a caloric deficit. I acknowledge the soreness and pain from yesterday’s workout and the workout from the day before yesterday. I acknowledge the fatigue and stress and anxiety from day after day of being pushed to your physical limits. I acknowledge all of these feelings and I thank you for being strong enough to keep going day after day and for giving more when I ask for it. I understand you are tired and you want to rest, you want to go back to bed and sleep. And I agree, that is a great idea. Hard to believe I’m already within a couple pounds of this physique that I brought to the 2017 Northern Classic!! What took me four months to accomplish with my conditioning last season, I’ve accomplished in only two months this year. So what changed?? Diet? Training? Yeah, a little but mainly the change is ME! I’m even more focused and determined this year and since my debut at the National Bodybuilding Championships in Miami last November, I know and understand what it takes to prep for the National level. And I was very happy with my National prep and performance last year. I definitely worked my butt off but going into this season I’m even more focused and I’ve grown stronger mentally, physically through the process. So guess what I’m saying is, I plan to kill it this year and give it 1000% all the way!!! I can’t wait to get back to this level of conditioning for Nationals this year, slow and steady...I was down to 117 lbs here, will be interesting to see where I end up stage weight this year but the number of lbs is not important, it’s the overall conditioning that counts.
