In honour of mha ending, have some old (and i mean OLD) miryumi scribbles i never got around to posting. They were the main characters in my heart
#these are like a year and a half old#ive been in the rarepair game for longer than some kids have been alive#it aint much but its honest work#i genuinely would be unable to explain the chokehold miryumi has on me after all this time#have they ever canonically interacted? no#(that i know of lol i havent caught up on the manga in over a year)#do they have anything directly in common? no#is there any reason i would ever have shipped them if i hadnt seen a habkart valentines post they never came back to? also no#did they proceed to occupy a permanent place in my frontal lobe forever? but of course#they really are THEE ship to me#peak comfort ship#i love that horikoshi developed them just enough for me to have solid base material for their personalities#but also gave them the woman in shonen treatment just enough that i can say anything i want about them and canon doesnt contradict it#anyways!! them again#fuyumi todoroki#rumi usagiyama#mirko#mha#bnha#my hero academia#boku no hero academia#wlw#chiquilines draws

How it feels to not like timebomb after s2
#I'M NOT A HATER I SWEAR I ACTUALLY REALLY LIKE IT ON PAPER#i do however think that it came literally out of nowhere and was hella rushed and kinda ridiculous#like. if the argument is that original ekko fell in love with jinx it doesn't make sense because they were enemies for most of their lives#if the argument is that current ekko fell in love with au powder and now projects these feelings on jinx it's kinda uh. messed up#because she's a whole different person. entirely. it doesn't matter if both these version started out as a 9-year old powder. they had#extremely different lives and experiences and thinking that “there's still this kind of powder in jinx deep down” is straight-up awful#OR even if he didn't project his feelings for powder on jinx why would he love her in the current universe? last time they met she blew them#up and now she wants to commit suicide. there's literally no reason for him to have any kind of feelings except the slight friendly#affection that's left from all those years ago. and yet the show and most importantly the fandom treats them like a couple??? i don't get it#also it's kinda insane that s2 turned jinx and ekko into flat shipping material#again. obviously i have nothing against the shippers and do not condemn it in any way. i'm just expressing my thoughts on the matter#also what pisses me off the most. is how in ep9 jinx in fully painted with ekko's symbols here and there. has the bandage (?) on her chest#like vi. has a hood that looks like a drawing that isha made. and yet there's no fishbones or any reference to silco at all#i mean. i get it s2 hates him but i can't help it#they gave her all these relationships and pretended that they're significant to her and yet they didn't have any proper development#to really earn it#arcane critical#arcane season 2#anti timebomb#jinx arcane#ekko arcane

All that ship talks kinda reminding me that Maomao has yet to acknowledge the fact that she's capable of having affection for people. Romantic feelings seeming to be far fetched at this stage of her character progress.
#the apothecary diaries#kusuriya no hitorigoto#maomao#i see things a bit differently on this topic#sometimes source material readers fell into the trap of projecting future developments into present one#things going to be slow but that's the beauty of it

Murderbot 1.06 spoilers
I love that when Leebeebee asks how the Preservation Alliance deals with allocating resources for childcare, Baradwaj begins to go on about community support and shared responsibility, and Gurathin just bluntly states “debt”.
Neither is wrong, but the perspective is important. The Preservation Alliance does not have the material resources to support its population. It has to import them. And once they’re in the Preservation system, then yes, Baradwaj is right, the resources are allocated equitably to those who need them.
But Gurathin is also right, in that in order to acquire the resources in the first place, the alliance has to go into debt. And it has to do missions like the current PresAux mission in order to pay toward those debts.
The community resources are GOOD, but they aren’t FREE. Gurathin, who comes from outside of the system, is better able to see that reality. It’s not as if Baradwaj doesn’t know this, but it isn’t how she conceptualizes it, and she has to be reminded that the goods that are communally shared do have to originate OUTSIDE of their system.
#my brother’s girlfriend grew up on an island nation that had never had a native population#it was never able to support inhabitants until systems of importing goods were reliably developed#the Preservation Alliance seems to be in a similar position as their island#they are continually banking on finding material resources SOMEWHERE that they can either use for themselves or trade for necessary resource#murderbot tv#murderbot tv spoilers#Gurathin and Baradwaj are hands down my favorites in the series so far#it’s MB and Ratthi in the novels#but Gurathin and Baradwaj have been BRILLIANTLY portrayed in the show

Witch Hazel & Devil in a Bush
Witch Hazel is a shrub or small tree with star-like blooms. It has a reputation for containing magical properties; its forked branches were used as dowsing rods to find water and minerals.
Devil in a Bush is a bushy plant with star-like blooms and lacy bracts nestled beneath the flower and spiky seedpods. This plant is considered good for a beginner's garden as it can withstand some neglect; It can often be found in abandoned patches of land.

I know we (rightfully) give Attack of the Clones a lot of grief for Obi-Wan just being able to show up unannounced and for him to just be given the literal biggest state secrets possibly of the entire war, in addition to how this cloning operation has been going on for like a decade without anyone knowing anything or any documentation crossing Mace Windu’s desk, but considering Sifo Dyas or Dooku or whoever was able to somehow erase an entire planet from (allegedly) every known bit of data collection or documentation, it could be argued that maybe Dyas and Dooku were just master forgers and had fake correspondence and reports going between them and the Kaminoans for over a decade now.
It’s not that far of a leap to say they got their hands on some heavily encrypted software on some very expensive computers and were able to imitate different speech patterns and documents and handwriting and official stamps or even holograms and holocalls. As far as the Kaminoans know, all of their contacts are fully aware and in the know about this clone army (because as far as they know, Sifo Dyas is alive and had to have been in communication recently)— When Obi-Wan shows up, it just happened to be at the exact time Dooku was the one supposed to be there in person himself that day. The Kaminoans did greet him as Master Jedi and said he was expected.
Obviously that could have only worked in the movie if Dooku had shown up and we saw him having to keep his cool/sneak around when some other Kaminoans tell him his “assistant” has already arrived, would you like us to escort you to him?
Internally Dooku’s thinking “WHOMST??” but externally he’s keeping his chill while searching the Force for whoever else might be— is that OBI-WAN KENOBI??
It’s soooooo tasty for Qui-Gon’s master and Qui-Gon’s apprentice to meet under these circumstances. Both of them know the other shouldn’t be there right now. They’re both having to play it cool in front of the Kaminoans, and this is even besides the fact Kenobi was there to find the bounty hunter assassin in the first place.
“I didn’t think you… were still as active in the Order,” Obi-Wan says slowly and diplomatically, knowing for a FACT that Dooku left the Order a long time ago.
“I… retired from active service,” Dooku says, equally diplomatically. “I act as a… consultant from time to time.”
“It’s soooo funny how I’ve never heard anything about that or this clone army the Jedi ordered,” Obi-Wan says, making direct eye contact with Dooku and probably trying to read his mind (to no avail). “The one they ordered ten years ago before there was ever any thought of the Jedi being actively involved on the frontlines of what isn’t a declared war. What would the Jedi want with a military in the first place?”
“How old are you, young one?” Dooku deflects in that fake kindly condescending grandfatherly voice. “How long have you been on the Council— Oh you’re just a Kniiiiight, that’s right, okay I see. How interesting. How much information are you actually privilege to, Obi-Wan?”
And this is all happening even before Obi-Wan Nancy Drew’d his way to Jango Fett’s private quarters!
Obi-Wan KNOWS he can’t go rogue right now when he’s that far from his ship on a city surrounded by an ocean and a literal army of clones soldiers (of that one super efficient bounty hunter, whenever it is he finds that out) all apparently under the command (?) of someone who definitely definitely super should not be speaking or doing or ordering anything under the name of the Jedi Order.
Count Dooku (who he doesn’t even know is a Sith yet) could very easily accuse him of being an impostor and have him detained or attacked or killed on sight. Zam Wessel was already established to be a shapeshifter in this movie, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility for Obi-Wan to not be who he says he is (which is kinda true?? since he WASN’T the Jedi ambassador for the Temple there to pick up his to-go order of a quarter-million identical men, with a million more on the way??). The Kaminoans might not even know much else about Jedi and Sith aesthetics besides “Wears robes” so if Dooku pulled a red lightsaber it might not even faze them, since he’d be able to provide more information and correspondence proving he’s the ‘actual’ Jedi anyway
Like can you imagine a fight breaking out not just between Kenobi and Jango, but a team-up of Jango and Dooku against Kenobi? That would have jumpstarted some of this clone army business a lot earlier in the movie and actually addressed what should have been the biggest conspiracy, coverup, and militaristic move of the MILLENNIUM
#AND— OH NO WHAT’S THIS?!#IT’S A PREQUEL POST WITH A STEEL CHAIR#Obi-Wan Kenobi#Attack of the Clones#Long post#Count Dooku#the clones#prequel trilogy#Star Wars prequel trilogy#I can’t remember my tags#Star Wars AU#Basically my biggest opinion of the prequel trilogy is really that if it was supposed to be about the clone wars#They should have already set all of the movies in the Clone Wars#I think we could have gotten a more effective and evocative story with Anakin and Amidala and Kenobi AND people most prominently involved#Without needing to see how the three of them ended up becoming The Main Characters#Like if you really wanted me to care about Order 66 you need to have made all of these characters and moving parts more prevalent in the nar#*narrative#You still could have developed the biggest character traits of each of them and had the events that lead to Anakin’s betrayal happen#and in that more focused narrative we would have actually felt the tragedy and horror that Order 66 should have evoked#for the entire audience#Not just the people who had seen several seasons of a supplementary cartoon#Your story’s got to be able to stand on its own legs#Watching RotS doesn’t give me anything to care about when it comes to the clones or their relationships with the Jedi or even all the other#Jedi who are killed too. Like besides Anakin marching on the temple and us seeing the implication that he just kills a bunch of children#We don’t actually have any established material within the movies to makes us care about the Jedi and the clones and the war itself#The war just feels like a backdrop instead of the driving action#anyway I don’t actually have a concise fix-it suggestion for the prequel trilogy like I did with TPM#… yet#I just like the thought of Kenobi and Dooku accidentally crossing paths and kicking off the action sooner#Better than a bunch of boring hallway talks

sorry if this question is already answered elsewhere but how much time passes between the creation of ishmael vs the modern siren setting with qedivar et al?
intentionally never stated because i don't want to box myself in with a ridiculous number that i have to retcon later haha. safe to say it's several centuries, maybe a thousand years, maybe less. who knows!
#i know i should figure it out eventually (and i will) but i need to leave room for a good amount of evolution for the sirenians#(although they do have an accelerated sort because something something genetic modification plastic morphologies etc)#while not leaving so MUCH room that it would make zero sense for the 'modern' sirenians to be living with a 1600s ish level of technology#now there's a problem there as well - they started off already knowing a lot of the basics about their world and life in general#but lost a lot of their ability to maintain that information as computers & material technology on siren relied heavily on settler machines#which eventually fell into disrepair. and siren itself does not have a high density of metals in the crust suitable for mining#their technology & material science development is hampered by having to invent it all from scratch and also not having the resources#setting: siren

I've started going through some of the fillers now that I'm caught up with the main manga story, and this first one about the dragon and lost island (eps 54-60) is pretty interesting - especially how Luffy could hear the dragon's thoughts, (in a way it reminded me of him hearing Zunesha on Zou, though it is different)
and how Zoro could pretty quickly tell when someone dangerous was nearby (with a sense that seems very similar to observation haki 🤔)
but also this fun zolu part:
I've seen it in some clips or screenshots before (gifs and screenshots really don't do justice to the amazing voice acting here lol "Zoorooooooooooooooo") but I haven't seen it with the context of this Apis girl being worried about Zoro before, (who stayed behind to let the crew get away with the dragon, and they managed that, and her concern made Luffy search out for Zoro to get him back to their ship. (Thankfully, because otherwise he would have totally get so lost on that small island)
and even in one scene before this clip she was worried if Zoro was going to be alright - and Luffy could reassure her with his absolute certainty that Zoro would be just fine.
It's pretty fun how this scenario repeats all the way thoughout the story (with at least two very similar scenes being in Dressrosa) where other people question if Zoro would be fine and Luffy has the full trust in his capabilites and strength.
#just them#one piece#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#zolu#luzo#one piece ep 58#mine#gif:zolu#gif:op anime#long post#its so early on in the story.. and yet#1000+ chapters later (and in canon material) and some things never change ;-;#only thing that changed was the fact that zoro willingly let himself get tossed around by luffy on wano. and that's character development!

Anytime someone decides to be like "Well, the dmc games have always had bad writing" I'm gonna show them the comparison of Lady from the games explaining the legend of Sparda vs Mary from the anime explaining the legend of Sparda. "Sonic was never good" "Marvel and DC comics were also just as bad" type of arguments all over again.
#tfw talking#dmc#anti dmc netflix#also claiming that the game fans ignore the writing flaws in dmc is just blatantly not true#theres been plenty of posts analyzing certain issues within the source material along with the amount of retcons the series had#criticizing the media you love is v good and is highly encouraged#esp so that you dont develop the mentality that people are attacking you as a person when they criticize something you enjoy#you can claim that the show is good by not shitting on the games its v easy to do#and again no one is saying you're terrible or dumb for liking it#we just want yall to understand why we're having these issues
