1) What does he look like?

he looks kinda like i drew him in this post! i also made this lil drawing for a joke. main traits are that he smiles a lot and has lines around his eyes and stuff, and also Jaw Line Of The Ages.

im not quite clear yet on a lot of his backstory (hes very sketchy and secretive except when hes oversharing) so the following is both defeasible and very very secret but. he likely started out as a mercenary before he became an arms dealer.. im leaning towards thinking he got into the business after suddenly getting a lot of dirty seed money as a result of his activities in the Congo (like, idk, finding a stash of diamonds on someone he murdered or whatever). as for why he became a mercenary.. it might be bc he had a bad breakup and wanted a change of scenery

he has at least an older sister whos still alive, but they dont exactly get along. she just extorts money out of him once every few years.

if a restaurant he wants to go to is closed, how he reacts would differ a lot based on the circumstance and his mood. most of the time he wouldnt be that bothered, hed just laugh it off and go somewhere else. but if hes already in a precarious state, it could send him into the death spiral.

pretty much the same answer as above. if he really didnt want pickles hed probably just pick them off. but if he was already not feeling well. death spiral. in either case he probably wouldnt bother to complain to the workers.

no ragrets about his own behavior, at least nothing hed admit to himself.

if its someone he mostly likes/gets along with/is friends with (like sagawa or @skygayzer's oc katya) he would think its funny that they got pickles they didnt want so hed laugh at them. he might eat the pickles too.

uh oh. depends on who the mysterious old man who hates bears is. it kinda sounds like its sato, in which case kadokura would be BIG MAD because sato is supposed to be dead !!!! thats the only way to get out of kadokuras clutches, DYING !! so this will not stand!!! i dont know things are NOT going to go well!!

whereas if the mysterious old man is okudera (though idk why he would hate bears... Only Okudera Lives AU perhaps? i started writing that once and it was just like 'saejma woke up in a house. it smelled bad. there was a really harsh depressed man there'). I guess kadokura would try to be charming bc he knows hes vulnerable. once okduera puked on kadokuras shoes but i dont think either of them would remember.

a few people are bringing up depression in response to my shen yuan post, and while do what you want yes, I feel this does go back to how people don't know how to write disabled characters as another person brought into light. including mental disabilities.

mayb now I'm projectin on this one, but seein the absolute cluster fuck of shen yuan, it feels strange to go "it's depression!". I see narcissistic personality disorder, other cluster b traits, I see autism, mayb even ocd. he's a paranoid, hot head mess whose constantly calculating every moment. but people don't really know how to contextualize mental illness, especially not the "scary" ones, even if they have mental illness themselves. just slap on depression and anxiety as a bandaid and don't talk about the rest! it's not that people don't want to go further (or at least I have some faith), I just think our current society has not prepared people to step out of the "nice" mental disorders.

so I don't fault anyone who reduces his nonsense into the socially acceptable depression, but I can't act like that it doesn't make me uncomfortable. but also not uncomfortable enough to directly respond to strangers on the interwebs HSKDHDH.

but I also did want to talk about the depression to slob pipeline as well because that's I suppose the part that gets me. he's unwell, so he's a slob and a disgustin mess. a statement that could be made about someone who has depression, but I have a hard time applying the "he" to shen yuan in this case. I'm personally under the "I care so much about my image that I feel like I'm gonna rot from the inside out" type, and my response has been to hyper clean. clean and clean until I can't clean anymore and so I'm stressed that I can't make my space (and by extension myself) better in a small matter of time. I was once a slob in the past as a teen, but I'm immensely embarassed by it. I'm vain, so I take photos of myself with my backdrop being my room, and I will loose my marbles if someone looks down on me because I threw my pjamas onto my bed while gettin changed. no one but me and my family enter my room. no one else even enters the house.

*picks up shen yuan by the scruff of the neck* yer telling me this rich pretty boy obsessed with tryin to get people to take him seriously wouldn't have an instagram or whatever the equivalent would be?? honestly I feel like it would be expected of him, and he might also flaunt his wealth (that he didn't earn) to try to feel better. if you couldn't tell I'm tryin to shove a superiority/inferiority complex onto him over his status. that's just cause I think it'd be funny I don't have any text evidence off the top of my head for that lmao.

ultimately with all this, I just want something different. I want people to step back and look at shen yuan for who he is and then extrapolate out from that and into how they want to play with his character. I don't know how, with all these complex thought processes and characterizations of binghe, we have landed with a very 2d, copy paste version of shen yuan every time. maybe I just need to dig more into shen yuan fan creations, but I have yet found one to step out of the invented fanon version mold or their small variations. and its quite strange to me given how divorced fanon shen yuan is from canon shen yuan. I suppose I'm not used to a fandom with a character so warped away from canon well accepted. dare I say, ooc.

I agree that drugs should be legalised and not stigmatized but you're delusional if you think "most drugs can be consumed completely safely with almost 0 risk to the user"

I think the key here is the word "can" by which I mean that if consumed in safe doses and safe environments and from safe sources etc most like mainstream drugs (I'm thinking of like mdma, LSD, shrooms, ketamine, coke) CAN be consumed safely with very little risks. I know this to be a fact #1. because I've done a lot of actual research on this where I've read numerous sources from scientists doctors and users as opposed to just say taking in the abstinence only information I received during school, reading a couple Tumblr posts and assuming I know everything there is to know about the topic and #2 I've used every drug I just listed and more and never suffered any adverse effects because I did my research, tested them for impurities when appropriate, and took other measures to ensure my safety

there are obviously exceptions and drugs that just shouldn't be fucked with (meth and heroin is what I'm thinking, but I also know people who have consumed these once or twice with 0 repercussions because that's how human experience works), but if you're actually interested in learning more about the many ways in which you were lied to about how "illegal drugs" are somehow automatically much worse for you than prescription drugs or socially acceptable drugs (like caffeine and alcohol) then feel free to either 1. do your own ACTUAL research that does not involve trusting for profit rehab centers and abstinence only educators (I'll even get you started with a couple good resources) or 2. message me off anon to have a real discussion about the mechanisms by which the most common drugs operate and the ways in which they can be consumed as safely as you can consume alcohol cigarettes and energy drinks but sending me your half cocked uninformed and unnecessarily insulting opinion on anon is not exactly productive. additionally, I'm sure you can see why I struggle to see or believe that you ACTUALLY think drugs should be destigmatized and aren't just parroting what you think the correct woke opinion is when you refuse to even take the very first step to destigmatizing drugs, drug use, and drug users and actually unlearn all the stigmatizing things you've been taught

I know that it's a lot easier just to port over all the things you've learned from dubious sources that you trusted implicitly because they claimed to be an authority and not actually do the work required to achieve the goals you claim to support, but easier doesn't mean right
