JADE LEECH WITH SIREN READER JADE LEECH WITH SIREN READER JADE LEECH WITH SIREN READER!! This is a huge brainrot I'm having rn. Jade leech with his siren s/o, and Jade, being the little sadomasochist, he is absolutely loving it. He loves his siren s/o so much. They have all the qualities of a siren (beautiful, charming, seductive, manipulative, etc). IM SORRY, BUT THEY'D BE SUCH A POWER COUPLE. (I would prefer fem! Siren Reader or fem! Yuu Siren reader, but it can be gn siren reader if you'd like.) But I'm sorry I could just see Jade falling in love on SIGHT!!
Characters: Jade, Mentions of Floyd and Azul.
CW: Jade is a simp, maybe OOC Jade, Siren!Yuu is gorgeous, Female MC, not proofread.
A/N: Hello!! I am going to name you Siren Anon. I will have a lot of fun with this ask since 1 it's Jade, and 2 Sirens!! This is my first Fem!Yuu ask and I am excited for that. I read a post that someone head cannoned Jade and Floyd to kind of be the embodiment of Gomez Addams in a relationship and I say YES. So Jade will be a lil bit Gomez-coded. I hope this was to your liking if you wish to see a part 2 feel free to ask.
If you like this Reblogs and Likes are appreciated <3
When Jade saw Yuu for the first time he thought she was gorgeous like any other student would think. Being a Merfolk himself he could instantly tell she was a Siren and considering he didn't know her he kept a note to be cautious, but he was also curious about her.
Azul also wanted to try and coerce her into working with him since she can easily manipulate convince people to sign contracts (And assuming Siren!Yuu is the only female in the school) it would also bring attention the only female in school works at the mostro lounge. However Jade ended up getting to her first knowing she is a Siren he had to be wary she wouldn't hurt his brother or Azul.
As time went on he fell for her charm and he was in love, or maybe was it her siren call? Who knows Jade saw her as a mate and he was down bad. He knew if she was manipulating him he could easily find out as Floyd is worried about her exploiting his brother, but getting to know her she didn't seem like that..right?
When Yuu takes up Azul's offer to work with him Jade gets a little protective as he loves his girlfriend he's wary other people will try to hit on her, or even try to court her so during shifts he will try to make excuses for her to go in the back, or help Azul with deals.
When Yuu comes to helping with deals she gaslights, gatekeep, girlbosses, and easily gets people to sign the contracts. It's kind of a win-win situation. She gets to spend time with Jade during shifts, and she gets paid for literally exploiting people to fall for her charm.
Jade mansplains Yuu girlbosses and manipulates people it's literally a perfect duo.
I believe Moray eels are territorial so I feel like because she is a siren he will be like not insecure, but more like Protective?? Posessive??.
I feel one day Jade and Yuu would be having a conversation, and they would probably try to manipulate each other into not leaving them I'd be funny. Jade is a sadist and he is a good manipulator Yuu is just as good with the both of them they'd be so iconic and powerful.
Jade would very much love his partner and would do anything for her. He knows she can take care of herself and will only step in if he needs to (Such as someone starts getting physical or a little too close).
If they were to get into a fight I feel like fights can become nasty. Not on the verge of breaking up (hopefully), but if the fight happened because of Yuu I can definitely see her going to talk to Jade when he's ready and she drops her facade and let's herself become vulnerable they both love each other dearly and I know they'd want to fix the relationship. If the fight is Jade's fault he would give Yuu some space before talking about it as well if she's badly hurt I feel Jade would be mad at himself a little for making you feel that way, but eventually it would all work out.
Imagine them becoming Mafia bosses and committing world domination????
I am all for that.

I lied I'm doing one for each fic "⌫: lullaby, ➥: nap" for sick borrower!gordon and benrey wrapping him up in a makeshift nest for a nap on their chest and singing him to sleep
oh shit i love this one okay?? time for some sickass cuddles
Gordon had been nothing but a coughing and sneezing mess all morning, much to the despair of everyone in the household. How he had gotten sick in the first place was anyones guess..For all they knew it was just some accidental contagion someone brought in.
Tommy and Coomer, with help from Bubby were currently pouring over the mathematics on what and how much flu medicine to give to someone Gordons size and weight...It was taking a bit considering three scientific minds were going into panicked overdrive to make sure they didn’t accidentally kill their newest little friend.
So that just left Benry tending to the achingly tired borrower while they broke the code down, or at least agreed on a method first. Benry felt useless just sitting there watching Gordon fitfully try to sleep and failing miserably on the edge of his bed.
Benry knew Gordon didn’t like him but trusted him enough to be left alone with the giant of a human, the door was of course open in case Gordon felt the need to flee. Benry had since their original fuck up made sure from that point on, Gordon could leave or get away no matter what...He could still see those fear filled eyes looking up at him...he didn’t want to do that again to the poor guy.
Though after a particularly angry looking session of still failing to sleep he scooted a bit closer to Gordon, who had wearily sat up, defeated at the idea of getting no sleep it seemed.
“You still havin problems bro?”
“Yeah....I’m so...I’m so fucking sick of this, I just wanna sleep...anything at this point to help would be a blessing...”
“Yeah? ...I got one idea that might work, but I’d have to touch you for it...”
“......at this point I don’t care anymore...Do whatever dude, I will take anything at this point.”
“....Shit really? Nice..uhh gimme one second.”
Benry got up to grab a smaller blanket, one he knew was soft and fluffy which was perfect for what he had planned for Gordon.
Coming back over he stopped upon seeing Gordon giving him a weak look of worry, but Benry smiled gently and offered the blanket up for Gordon to inspect.
“Bro I promise I’ll be gentle with you...like as fucking gentle as uhh..a fairy with soap bubbles or some shit... I jus wanna help a bro in need out you know?”
“A fairy with soap bubbles....Fuck it fine, let’s get this going before I back out okay?”
“Fucking poggers dude...trust me dude you will be out like a lil baby in fuckin no time flat... Fucking speed run to dreamland, starring Gordon.”
Gordon couldn’t help but snort out a laugh as Benry grinned and bent down to pick him up with the blanket....And he was right, Benrys hands gently curled around his form securely before even thinking of moving away from the bed with him. The blanket shifted some and he soon found himself cocooned in its soft warmth almost effortlessly. Coupled with Benrys immense warmth radiating from his hands alone Gordon already felt himself getting unfairly cosy and drowsy.
“...why...why are you always so fucking warm?”
“s’cause I’m a huge bitch probably. Better than bein cold I guess? You alright with it though bro?”
“....s’not a bad thing...I guess..would make sense someone as big as you is just as warm..”
“Yeah probably...just means people end up falling asleep on me, Tommy does it all the time..”
As they talked, Benry more or less wrapped Gordon up like a little burrito...the thought of calling him “Gorditos” came to mind but that’d only piss him off right now....maybe later. Naptime first though. He moved over to his computer chair and settled down, Gordon tucked safely in the crook of one of his arms as he got settled.
“..Now for the second part, hang on I gotta look something up to help out with this bro.”
It took him a few minutes of searching youtube to find a suitable instrumental video to a lullaby he knew sorta well...Well it wasn’t a lullaby but he figured if he dicked with the lyrics enough it’d be fine enough to knock Gordon out.
As the music started up, Gordon stirred once more to look up at Benry in confusion, the shadows inside the blanket being lit a soft green glow from his eyes. Benry smiled back down at the other as he started into the lullaby proper.
“oh my god you....you are...oh...okay.”
Gordon would never admit to loving Benrys voice when he sang, the few times he was able to hear it was honestly the most peaceful he’s ever felt and now was no different.. Benry almost had this siren like quality to his voice Gordon lazily thought as he was lulled deeper and deeper into sleep. Being so close to the source he felt the vibrations from Benrys chest, not even minding as he was adjusted to properly lay against the massive singer in question. Gordon felt himself become limp against the others chest, everything all at once making him feel...strangely safe and content.
Benry kept his voice at a soft level, taking slow breaths inbetween bars to make sure Gordon didn’t get jostled too much on his chest as the song continued onwards. He had chosen a fairly long and slow song to go off of and barely noticed that by the time the song was over Gordon was practically dead to the world nestled up close against him.
He couldn’t see entirely how the other was positioned but the faint outline he could make out under the blankets showed that Gordon had spread himself out like a cat finding that perfect sunbeam to lay in....and honestly it was fucking adorable to picture.. He picked another song and just hummed along, shifting Gordon only when he needed to, he didn’t mind being the tiny mans bed for a few hours...Honestly this was the best thing he had ever happened....
Maybe after this Gordon would let him get closer again more often? He could only hope for something so good afterall.

I hope I'm not too late for the ask meme, could I ask n° 1 for the boys? Any combo you feel like! - Piraticusdorm
of course you arent dw!!
CONRAD:
BELLUS: - first of all hes already v into the piraticus dorm’s uniform for the shirts mostly and is usually into pretty people so the moment he sees conrad and his flashy fashion hes 👀. though conrad doesnt seem like the kind of person bellus would actually get a crush on?? its likely because hes an authority figure dnksa - not having a crush wouldnt stop him from hitting on conrad occasionally, mostly because bellus enjoys flustering people who seem composed. he does Not understand that being a mermaid in of itself can make others uncomfortable even if theyre in the same dorm - does want to braid some of the water flowers in the lake the boys claimed into conrads hair. if conrad declines he might try to sneak them in as a little game
MERI: - for reasons he wouldnt admit too, somehow meris jealous that conrad has kenns respect?? hes a lil jealous of anyone kenn respects but hes the most jealous over conrad - because of that hes huffy towards conrad and gives him the silent treatment. which doesnt really work on someone who doesnt know you but maybe its a blessing if anything and no one should explain that to meri - meri has made Many plans for pranks against conrad but conrad seems like a v observant guy?? so that and caspian and kenn being there to stop meri makes the situation lowkey feel like a wilde coyote and roadrunner one tbh
CASPIAN: - so like. he and the others had to get over their opinions about pirates pre-nrc quickly when they were put into the piraticus dorm and hes done p well with that. but he still cant stop feeling wary when he sees conrads eye patch and hat he wears in the dorm(?). but kenn likes him and the feeling isnt as bad whenever conrad is in more casual clothing so caspian just tolerates it - even with that, he enjoys the times conrad plays the piano and sings with everyone
KENN: - he has a lot of respect for conrad for being able to manage the dorm and as a result everyone within in. despite that he lowkey avoids talking to him when he can since after moving to nrc hes become Aware of the opinions people have about mermaids mostly because now he cant ignore them. so kenns likely aware of the fact conrad is uncomfortable around mermaids and tries to restrain the others enough where conrad doesnt have to get involved - probably overthinks if his magic specifically makes conrad uncomfortable since his is straight up siren magic. he learned that it isnt acceptable to just use his magic whenever he feels like during first year but since theyre both third years, when kenn remembers how he was when he was still adjusting hes just ‘god conrad saw that.’ hes found hours later by caspian with his head in his hands still embarrassed  - vibes a lot with the keeping your word but using any loopholes possible method conrad also uses. may or may not try to subtly point out loopholes to him if he somehow looks over one
TINK:
BELLUS: - likes trying to pick out the bells in tinks voice whenever hes singing and enjoys even more watching tink dance. bellus is most interested in whenever tink flies while dancing but the thought of doing the same makes him a lil skittish. flying seems fun but he isnt fond of the thought of what happens if you fall. you cant fall when youre in water!! - with the fact hes a hopeless romantic, the moment he hears about tinks secret admirer hes !!! and also trying to find out who it is. though if/when he does, he wont tell tink who it is because that Ruins the Suspense!! The Mystery!! that doesnt keep bellus from using knowing that secret to tease tink though so f
MERI: - even if meri isnt the nicest of the gang, he does like tinks pranks and will try to get tink involved in his. especially the ones that involve octavinelle - may Try to not provoke tink besides playful teasing because of the fact he sees tink as a potential prank buddy. he also understands neverland faeries more than mainlanders and non mermaid folk in general so hes more willing to rein himself in if it means tink will join his games - they both have some similar qualities like being quick to act out & fight and having fun at the expense of others. theyd either get along well or butt heads. maybe a bit of both! if they do play pranks together itd be harder for meri to get genuinely mad at tink when they clash. though he might end up treating it like a game and make tink more upset when they do smh
CASPIAN: - thinks its amusing to watch tinks pranks but he wont outwardly show more than maybe a smile at his antics - since he likes people watching and sometimes drawing said people, caspian probably has some drawing of tink in his journal mostly focused on his face. he just remembers all the other neverland faeries hes seen from the lagoons whenever he sees tink and with that, the rest of neverland. so drawing tink reminds a bit of home - even with that association caspian still doesnt talk to tink often like how he does with most other people
KENN: - lowkey associates tink with caspian since they both have the right hand man role going on - also sees tinks pranks as entertaining, its just whenever meri is there too he becomes more wary about the situation - he does want to respect tink since hes a vice dorm leader, its just whenever he sees him around the dorm he cant help but just be internally “whos this lost sassy child..........” the 9 inch height difference they have doesnt help tink out there
KROK:
BELLUS: - for some reason krok Does seem like someone bellus would have a crush on?? itd be a one sided one and off type of crush more than anything but its still there in the background - dnvs i could see bellus unintentionally scaring off krok more than anything with his flirting when its taken into account the reputation neverland mermaids made for themselves. hes out there trying to braid kroks hair and playfully splash him and convince him to sunbathe with the others because theres snacks and kroks just “oh god this guys gonna try to drown me” - so maybe he does also splash people he doesnt like but its about the Context yknow? - a lil confused when he hears that krok cant sing Or play instruments and offers to teach him. which mostly involves getting caspian to teach him because bellus is only a good teacher when the topics about stars. but he Will be willing to sit through the lessons with him
MERI: - hes a lil intimidated by the fact kroks a crocodile even if krok doesnt get into fights in the first place especially unprovoked. though considering meri tends to provoke Everyone, he might have a good reason to be wary - also isnt fond of kroks ability to eat others magic since he relies on his so much. and with the fun combination of meris temper, his unintentional magic usage when hes upset, the fact the piratcus dorms are on the ocean, and that being on a ship doesnt make a boiling ocean any more comfortable, kroks likely had to eat meris magic before. hes still upset about it - even though their height difference is only 4 inches, meri sometimes squats when they do talk out of spite - despite all of that, he does appreciate that kroks an honest person because lying about emotions is such a hassle. though he also thinks that krok not hiding things too takes the fun out of things
CASPIAN: - tbh he cant comprehend the concept of someone not being good at both playing instruments and singing, mostly because hes used to being around music focused magic back home. like?? are you saying you cant even play a shell horn?? what the fuck???? he assumes krok is just fucking with them even if krok tries to prove he isnt - if krok does accept bellus’s offer to learn how to play, caspian is a pretty patient person so hopefully thatd make krok more comfortable? outside of that, caspian does enjoy playing and talking with the fish and birds around the campus so that could be something they could talk about- - caspian does lie a lot though especially to people he isnt close to so that might bring up some issues between them vdsv
KENN: - “caspian theres a weird fucking cat outside” - kenn when he first sees krok sunbathing - he understands wanting time to relax but he doesnt get sleeping all the time. hes used to everyone always wanting to splash and play back home and only stop to brush their hair and sunbathe so someone willingly choosing to just snooze whenever he can?? why’d you do that........ - even if he doesnt understand it he’ll still try to not wake up krok if hes sleeping outside again. sometimes bellus and meri get past him but he does what he can to keep them from bothering him like he does with most - hes v interested in kroks magic tbh since it seems v useful to have on hand. hes also a lil curious about what his own magic tastes like

My Top 10 Albums of 2019
Wordpress version
Pleased to say I had trouble fitting this into a top ten. While I hope for some changes to the trends with the new decade coming, this was a great year for overall quality music and I look forward to finding more. In the meantime, here’s what I liked best. I should note the final order is a bit rough.
I list some EPs and honorable mentions below my #1 as well. SO many albums sat in a ‘close but not quite’ spot for me this time, but the sheer amount is certainly something.
10. SODA Lite - Vale & Stone / Soda Lite continues to make the most cleansing ‘nu age’ around, complete with synth mallets that make it sound like a molten forest you can drink. Listen to this outside! Listen to “Vale & Stone”
9. Caroline Polachek - Pang: Not every day you hear vocal sky-dives like hers on the same album as A.G. Cook, a yacht rock update and a sweet ballad that sounds like new age Imogen Heap... Which is why this is good. Listen to “Go As a Dream”
8. Teebs - Anicca: I worry his palette is getting plainer (not enough synths and bells, too much guitar!) but we just don’t have anyone in e-music like Teebs. Listening to him feels like napping in a painter’s garden and you can’t tell the difference between his world and yours. Full review here. Listen to “Marcel”
7. Sudan Archives - Athena: Sudan fuses organic e-music and her own calming voice with truly epic violin riffs like a brew in her garden. Interesting to hear the influence of Sudanese fiddle in this context. Listen to “Confessions”
6. Karen O & Danger Mouse - Lux Prima: My favorite modern punk singer teams with a Gorillaz producer and 70′s soundtrack fan. Somehow their pairing sounds too plain here and there, but they’re never low on ideas and sometimes fascinating. Listen to “Nox Lumina”
5. Nonlocal Forecast (Angel Marcloid) - Bubble Universe!: Colorful new agey jazz fusion enamored with the digital 90′s. Somehow equal parts giddy and serene, a real mood-booster if you find digital synths and/or MIDI game soundtracks fun at all. Listen to “The Evolutionary Game”
4. Angel Olsen - All Mirrors: String section takes an expressive voice beyond with a knack for powerful slow-burns. Don’t miss this if you like baroque/chamber pop (or the idea of it, even!). Listen to “Summer”
2/3. Ioanna Gika - Thalassa: Layer upon layer of swooning vocals fit for This Mortal Coil and complete with strings, synths and urgent rhythms; a must-hear for anyone wanting a more flexible take on the 80s goth trademarks. Listen to “Swan”
2/3. La Feline - Vie Future: Imagine if a dreamy French siren like Mylene Farmer or Camille worked with Broadcast or Ghost Box producers. Or maybe a floating forest in an old sci-fi movie. That’s this album. Listen to “Visions de dieu”
1. Kelsey Lu - Blood: Beyond promising and multi-talented new artist you may know from collabs with Blood Orange and Solange; great cello as expected with sublime vocals, ghostly folk ballads, eclectic pop songs, an electronic 10cc cover and more surprises. Listen to “Rebel”
EPs:
Brothertiger - A Chain of Islands / Chillwave, synth-pop. Listen to “Prideland”
Flying Lotus - INFINITY Infinitum / Nu jazz, spiritual jazz, neo soul. Listen to “MmmHmm”
Natasha Kmeto - Verse/Versus / Alt R&B, neo soul, synth-pop. Listen to “Count To 5″
Hinako Omori - Voyage / Progressive electronic, ambient. Listen to "Teleport"
Sulli - Goblin / K-pop, synth-pop. Listen to “Dorothy”
Suiyoubi no Campanella & Oorutaichi - Yakushima Treasure / J-folk, avant folk.
Honorable mentions:
Bat For Lashes - Lost Girls / Art pop, synth-pop, dreamy, fantasy. Listen to “Jasmine”
CFCF - Liquid Colours / Drum and bass, new age, 90s spa music? Listen to “Green District”
Helado Negro - This Is How You Smile / Indie electronic, dream pop, folktronica. Listen to “Please Won’t Please”
Jorja Chalmers - Human Again / Electronic, ambient, soundtrack-ish. Listen to “She Made Him Love Again”
Maria Usbeck - Envejeciendo / Synth-pop, downtempo, tropical. Listen to “Retirement Home”
Natalie Rose Lebrecht - Mandarova Rose / Neo-medieval folk, ethereal wave. Listen to “Lost“
Shura - Forevher / Sophisti-pop, R&B. Listen to “Skyline, Be Mine”
SPELLLING - Mazy Fly / Cowgirl synth witch music? Listen to “Hard To Please”
Steve Hauschildt - Nonlin / Space music, prog electronic, ambient. Listen to “Attractor B”
Tei Shi - La Linda / R&B pop, downtempo, dreamy. Listen to “We”
Voyage Futur - Secret Earth / New age. Listen to “Eternal Dawn”
There's more. I could add Lana, Lil Simz, Weyes Blood, Holly, Lizzo and other cult hits, but this is long enough kept to my darkhorse faves. Stay tuned for my 2019 playlist for their proper acknowledgement.

This Means War 06
As this story was “executive produced” by @adorkable-blackgirl and we tend to have a lot of the same interests and came up on some of the same stuff, I hope she loves this final installment of this story. Thank you for giving me this idea and I’m sorry that I didn’t make it longer, but I was really going to have to scrape and struggle for it if I had. I’d prefer to try to give you something of quality. I luh you Ma. * Lil’ Kim’s All About the Benjamins verse plays*
You Wanna Bumble with the Bee, Huh?
Charlotte lunged towards Joss, but her fist was caught by Natalie. She turned to look at her, “How much do they pay you, Girl?” Charlotte wondered. Natalie just smirked and shoved her backwards. She nearly tripped over Henry, but caught herself and said, “Let me guess… You’re like a trained assassin or something. You’ve learned all the techniques and can probably kill me within minutes if you get your hands on me.”
Natalie smiled, cracked her fingers and her neck and said, “Yep.”
Charlotte nodded, “Okay, then.” She shot her with the zapper multiple times until she fell. Joss gasped and threw her clacking fan at Charlotte to knock the zapper from her hand. It flew from her hand, along with the fan, but little did she know, Charlotte wasn’t planning on using that on her anyway. “You should’ve listened to my promise before you thought about hurting my friend,” Charlotte said and they heard Henry grumble something.
Now, Charlotte had a couple of choices, to fight or to check on Henry. She held her hands in front of herself and said, “I’ll keep them where you can see them. You see if Henry is okay. I don’t trust you enough to turn my head away.”
“And I should trust you?” Joss asked, folding her arms.
“You have home field advantage and I am concerned about my friend. Did you ever even freakin’ like him? You’ll just knock him out and keep it moving?” Charlotte asked, getting angrier as she thought about it.
Joss sighed, kept her eyes on Charlotte, but squatted down and shook Henry, “Hey. Are you okay?” she asked.
It took him a moment to focus. He mumbled Charlotte’s name a few times, to which Joss rolled her eyes, and leaned closer to slap him across the face a couple of times. He jumped up and shuffled away from her. “He’s fine. Look. There’s no reason for us to fight. Leave now, and I’ll let you live.” Henry was rubbing his bruised face and going to Charlotte to check on her. She seemed okay, but he still was in a protective stance next to her while Joss was talking to them. “If Natalie wakes up while you’re still here, your zapper is over there. My advice is to get out and try to get ready for our next run in. Because, mark my words the men who put my father away and the girl who wouldn’t let me be great are not going to win this war.” Joss said.
Kid Danger had a zapper too, but she didn’t know that, until Charlotte took Henry’s arm and zapped the unconscious Natalie again. “My mom always said ‘Don’t start none, won’t be none.”
“Suit yourself, Cockroach.” Joss said.
Henry was about to protest that horrible thing to call his best friend, but Joss charged towards her with something that she had just pulled from her hair! Charlotte was extremely angry about being called that and she was ready to charge at Joss, as well.
Henry jumped in front of Charlotte, holding her back at the same time and Joss stuck him with whatever it was. “Ouch!” He said and held himself. “You stabbed me!” She chuckled and tried to swing at him again but Charlotte caught her arm and wondered, “Why don’t you give her one of your one hitter quitters, Man? She’s trying to stab you!”
“I don’t know! She’s a girl!” Henry said, watching Charlotte try not to get stabbed in the face with the pointy hair thingy.
“A girl who clearly has some fighting training!” Charlotte said, dodging all of Joss’s swings and ducking. From kicks.. Charlotte had some fight training, but she sensed not on the level of this girl. This was some kung fu or something… “Hen! Romeo Must Die!”  Joss looked confused, but Henry knew exactly what she meant. Char’s mom watched that movie every year on the anniversary of Aaliyah’s passing. “Rest in Peace, Aaliyah,” Henry said and he jumped in to help her out. He guided Charlotte in directions that she needed to go in and she handled the actually hitting Joss part. He swung her over his back to avoid Joss doing some kind of flip kick at her. He rotated to shield a few of Joss hits and brought Charlotte back around to deliver hers. She punched her in the face, kicked her in the stomach, and headbutted her. Joss was barely on her feet when Henry unhanded Charlotte and Charlotte rushed up to her, flipped Joss over, and pinned her down. Henry rushed to the floor, did a 3 count, and declared her the winner. Joss looked at them like they were both completely insane, breathing hard before she passed out.
Now, Henry extended his hand to Charlotte and helped her up. “That was awesome. You were amazing!” He said.
She nodded her head, “I am amazing,” she corrected him.
His Whiz Watch sounded and he answered for Captain Man. “Kid Danger! I am on my way!” He said. Henry closed it and shook his head, then he looked at Charlotte.
Charlotte laughed and began putting zip ties on the fallen. “I don’t know if the henchmen and the decoys were privy to who you are, so they can probably just be taken to jail. But, we definitely will have to wipe these two and take their devices. So… sorry about the fact that your short lived love affair with Joss Moss will have never happened in her mind.”
He shrugged his shoulders, “Should have never happened in the first place.”
“And so our hero learns his lesson!” She cheered and gave him a smile. A gorgeous smile of perfect teeth, nestled by two soft and juicy lips. Her face was glistening a little. She’d broken a sweat to fight for him. She hated fighting and she hated sweating. Her hair had gotten kind of messed up, but was somehow still absolutely stunning. And the way that her rescue outfit was fitting her - she usually wore baggy clothes or at least one baggy item. This all black get up with pockets and sheaths was kind of hugging her slender form… and that was actually perfect too... “Henry… What are you staring at?” She wondered and looked behind her, to see if some other threat was coming, still on high alert. She stood up to see what he saw, then turned back to him, confused, because she didn’t see anything, but he still looked kind of haunted.
He moved in and brought her close to himself to hug her and she was frozen for a moment, in shock. Was he looking at ME like that? And why? Maybe he had just realized the gravity of all of this. That he could have died. That she literally had probably saved his life? Finally, she returned the hug, also taking in the gravity of what had happened, and gave his hair a small caress. Either he had never noticed any such affection before, or she was just in this moment as much as he was. He wasn’t sure about any of that, but he was sure of one thing...
“I love you, Char.”
Now, she gently shook off his hug and laughed off his heartfelt confession, “If I were you, I’d love me too. You could have died today, Henry. These are the same people who were going to COOK Ray! COOK HIM, HENRY!” That was the start of her fussing at him about how he never listened to her, how none of them ever listened and now SHE was sweaty and got called a cockroach because of it. “And I’m not 100% sure that she wasn’t using that as an antiBlack derogatory…”
Her fussing was surprisingly pleasing to him, somehow. He pretended to be annoyed with it, but he realized something whenever she didn’t say “I love you too…” This madness was her version of it. Every time Charlotte told him what was best for him, fussed at him when he made the wrong choice, griped about it whenever they came out on the other side, she might as well be singing a song about how much she loved him. It was just her way. He helped to gather everyone up and separate Joss and Natalie from the others as Charlotte got everything off of her chest.
Captain Man showed up to wipe some memories and the three of them were going to go collect Schwoz and Jasper, then hit up a Nacho Ball. Charlotte threw on a mask (the Guy Fawks mask, like from V for Vendetta) as she heard the police sirens showing up. Henry and Ray continued making plans as Charlotte’s fussing went on in the background, as background noise to Ray, as background music to Henry.
.
“Okay. So, lemme get this straight… You had a dream that I had a dream about you and I went to talk to Piper about it, and whenever I talked to Piper about it, I told her that I had a dream about Jasper. So Jasper thought that I was dreaming about him, and not only was I not dreaming about him, but I was dreaming about you, and this all happened in your dream?” She scoffed a laugh and shook her head, “And why are you even telling me this again?”
Henry sighed and shook his head, “Because, whenever I thought I was gonna die, I kept thinking about you. I didn’t think about my mom. I didn’t even think about Jasper. I thought about you, and I just think it means something that I’m thinking about you awake when I’m gonna die and rest in peace eternally, or when I’m asleep, when I should be resting peacefully Like… Maybe… It means something.”
She curled her lips, “Well, whenever you figure it out, let me know.”
He caught her hand and said, “I think… You give me peace.”
Charlotte busted out laughing, with her head thrown back, then covered her mouth and tried to reign it in. “I’m sorry. It’s just that that was very corny…” She stroked his hair and added, “But, still a step up from “I’m in a band.” He squinted his eyes at her, unsure of what she was saying. Did she think that he was giving her a line? Because, he was actually being serious for once… “Hey, Hen… You know what? I actually AM in a band.” She put her hand on her hip and smiled at him, exaggeratedly flirtatious.
“That’s hot,” he said and bit his lip. She wrinkled her nose in a smile and turned to leave. “So is my new girlfriend!” He called out. He could see from her profile that her smile got wider. “Um… for the record, that was my way of trying to ask you to be my girlfriend.”
“I understood.”
“You didn’t say yes.”
“I said it with my inner voice.” She turned around and looked at him. She hadn’t really realized it before he was possibly going to die… or maybe she realized it seeing him run around behind Joss, but… she did love Henry too. But that, she probably wasn’t gonna say in her for other people voice any time soon. He was staring at her again, like in the lair right before he told her that he loved her and she tried to play off the beating of her heart that caused. I love you, too.  Her inner voice said.

fav ♀-releases in 2018 (in no particular order)
so, since i started this list like this last year too, here we go: i know little to nothing about music, i have weird (may i say b a d) taste and my reasonings are - as expected from a subjective list - Super personal ,, also i dont follow every female k-artists so there are definitely blind spots for me too! that said ... LETS GET GAY! LETS GO LESBIANS!
Wind (바람 ) - Heize
suprise surprise, its Heize again. i was rarely this excited about a comeback this year as i was about Wind ... i adore this mini. i really love Heize’s voice, especially now that she is playing around with rapping And singing more than ever, its just ,, i hear her voice and i just, immediately calm down and feel a warm glow in me rising and --- this is getting really cheesy, isn’t it.
my fav tracks have to be Sorry and wish you well (feat. DAVII), however i can listen to this whole album without a problem - of course Jenga as the title was amazing as well, Dahye’s voice works really well with Gaeko’s as well. additionally i loved the ~design for this album, the photoshoot is stunning and the whole aesthetic is very much up my alley.
AND SINCE WE R ALREADY TALKING ABOUT DAHYE:
+ First Sight (첫눈에) - Heize
as expected, i love her winter single release as well. again, a Lovely mixture of her singing and a solid very groovy amazing rapping part. i did like her mini a lot more lyricwise (lots of it is really sad but Sorry has such smart lyrics!!!), however as a “”simple”” winter release that is meant to fit this season, this is amazing.
...... also have i mentioned how Beautiful she is, jfc.
Deine - Ha:tfelt
Oh Boy. Here we go.
this is hands-down my Favorite Release of this whole year. i don’t know if its clear, but i adore yeeun. i adore her as the person park yeeun, who is an activist and very outspoken about her position of a woman in the industry, her experiences in one of the most successful girlgroups Ever, her views on feminism and sexism, the fact that she collabed with a drag organizer for her exhibition, etc etc etc. however, i also love yeeun as Ha:tfelt and adore her music. Pluhmm is such a sensual, fun and soft and yet strong song about her Own Desires and a woman that Wants to flirt and be in love and have fun and Be sensual and its so so so lovely and warm and playful and confident? i died a little at the MV because Ha:tfelt is a Woman and is portrayed as such, she is sensual and sexy and its portrayed by yeeun dancing around a flat in the sexiest dress and feeling herself and. its just Wonderful. so wonderful. i love her. Cigar is super touching too, very smooth and slick and polished and yet it has a vulnerable touch to it and is just ,, such a good song ....... thank u yenny.
Warning - Sunmi
ANOTHER AMAZING WOMAN. if i had to choose a soloist that is more active and actively promotes and performs on music and award shows etc, i’d definitely go for Sunmi. first of all: sunmi is outstandingly hardworking, talented, tough, brave, but also so so so kind and sweet and self-aware (seriously her twitter account is my social media highlight of this year, she is beyond ADORABLE and wonderful and funny) and of course she is fucking beautiful. this album is AMAZING - i can listen to the whole tracklist without skipping a single song. i adore Siren (aesthetically its my favorite title track of hers, though i do think Gashina is a little more catchy, esp together with that choreo - but i Love Siren’s horror-esque MV with the, well, siren-mermaid-imagery, so good!) but personally my favorite SONGS are ADDICT and Black Pearl - both sound very different actually, one being completely in English, but it just shows how well Sunmi can pull of different styles. god ... have u seen her on stage? shes a m a z i n g.
KHAN - I’m Your Girl ?
I started following Euna and Minju already before they debuted ... but what really made me fall in love with both their voices, be it singing or rapping (cause both are quite good at both ,,) was their DNA cover! generally the fact that they keep posting really cool covers on their youtube channel is beyond lovely and these two really managed to make me like a version of DNA ... (probably my least favorite BTS title track, lmao ,,)
their actual debut was just lovely. the song is great, soothing and super smooth and groovy and easy to listen to, their voices are stunning in it, the MV is VERY GAY, the choreo is fun and their outfits for promotion stages were such a lovely fresh wind and i really enjoyed seeing them perform a LOT. i just really like that KHAN already is quite unique and m so so so looking forward to future comebacks!
BBIBBI - IU
no highlight list without Jieun. the lyrics to this track were solely written by her and it shows - IU is an outstanding songwriter, i adore her hard work and experience and talent. the sound of the track itself is fun and bubbly and groovy and Very catchy, but my highlight is how this conflicts so beautifully with the lyrics that are quite ... critical and rough and basically show a very very sweet lovely middle finger to the rumour-netizen-culture around her ,, i am super excited for future full releases from jieun, though i still listen to Palette a lot and think she should take all the time she needs!
Bad Boy - Red Velvet
sadly, i didnt not really enjoy Red Velvets later release this year and neither did i really dig their summer release, but what i do adore to the moon and back is their The Perfect Red Velvet - The 2nd Album Repackage, though thats a lil bit of cheating since i already mentioned their Perfect Velvet album last year ,,
Bad Boy is my favorite title track of theirs this year, the styling is OUTSTANDINGLY GOOD MY GOD and the sound is just, smooth and cool and sexy and just ... damn.
also, Red Velvet definitely has some of my favorite jacket photoshoots of this year, the quality and beauty of their photos is amazing, i could spend hours just looking at those ......... and maybe i did.
What Is Love? - TWICE
the nations girl group powered through this year and released so many catchy awesome songs that i had a hard time choosing one ,, but What Is Love is definitely my MV highlight of the year and also the song itself is so so fun and lovely and cheerful and just makes me feel happy ... thank u for making me happy, TWICE!
You And I - Dreamcatcher
i have to admit: Dreamcatcher is not really my sound. their tracks remind me a little too much of Very Loud Stressful Anime Openings, so i accept that its just not my music taste ,, HOWEVER i actually really really like You and I. the song is very catchy and has this one part right before the chorus that i really love, its a very cool mysterious “dark” awesome track. moreover though i love the Whole Package that is Dreamcatcher (again, this horror-esque style of theirs is Really Up My Alley) - their styling and choreos are so clever and SEXY and goth-y and different, its just so fucking fun to watch them perform, especially the Choreo to You and I is so so so so so cool!
(also they r somewhat of a lesbian cult and m Very Appreciative of that, my god.)
LOOΠΔ - just, the whole thing.
SO - it took me until this year to really get into Loona. i knew them beforehand and was intrigued by the unique pre-debut “schedule” that their company was doing and checked out some songs but never got into them deeper. however, this year i truly listened to the Broad Amazing Variety that Loona offers and i just Have to include them here. all the girls and the subunits are super interesting and diverse and i love how especially the solo songs all sound different and lots of things were tried out and the AESTHETICS ARE OFF THE CHARTS. their full group debut was a little too ... they played it too ~safe for my taste, however i still adore lots of LOONA songs and can only recommend them!
(my favs are So Boring, i love Egoist and Heart Attack and Singing in the Rain and New and ... i’ll get back to this once i develop an actual Interesting opinion lmao)
i Can’t possibly end this list without some honorable mentions, because girls are amazing:
- (G)I-DLE are amazing rookies and performers and just such an awesome new girlgroup. Soyeon’s stage presence is just ,, wow, she is such a good rapper and performer, but the other girls are also so amazing and m so glad they are so successful and loved so far. favorite track of this year is def HANN (Alone), though all their songs are mighty good.
- Oh My Girl. maybe i dont listen to their songs as much but m in deep love with their visuals and stages and man ... call me, Yooa, please, m free almost every night.
- fromis_9 had such a cute quirky hyper Love Bomb comeback, i loved it!
- Momoland similarly had such catchy fun songs, i gotta mention them too!
- Hyuna - i love Hyuna and i wish her all the best and happiness and love and success and i hope to see her on stage again soon! (i especially loved her in Triple H, since i was actually quite a fan of that trio and the retro funky sound they went for ...... big sigh @ cube)
- Yubin ... again, not really my sound, but man. kill me Yubin, just do it, cmon.
- EXID is back to OT5! m so happy!!! I Love You was really fun, but I definitely enjoyed DDD last year more ,, but i still wanted to mention them, such a fun, diverse, different girlgroup that offers lots of different sounds and visuals and stands out to me a lot, so so good!
- Chungha ... m still in the process of falling in love with Chungha but oh god .... have u seen her? her dancing skills are out of this world, her beauty is stunning, she is so so sweet and kind and tough and her songs m so eager to properly discover and also a rly niche point but: I LOVE HER ALBUM DESIGNS SO SO SO MUCH.
- Minseo is another new amazing soloist ,, i discovered her at first through my fav photographers instagram (@ mu_gung) who took just. outstanding pics of Minseo but i also Adore her voice and she has done Amazing covers as well, her Why So Lonely is my absolute favorite and id dare to say i like it just as much as the original ... check her out, her MV visuals and concepts are Super interesting and beautiful and fun as well!
and many many many many more that i missed or forgot!
just know: girls are the best.

prompt if you're able: Sledge finds a Japanese child no older than five in the jungle and argues with Snafu on whether they should keep the child
AN: inspired by this picture.
This isn’t a situation he thought he’d ever find himself in.
It’s not as if Eugene dislikes children. Actually, he has no real opinion on them whatsoever — save for mild annoyance when they scream, but that’s natural. From what limited experience he has with kids, they tend to be sticky, loud, and helpless. He is not a fan of any of these qualities, so he tends to avoid children as much as possible.
It’s a tactic that’s worked for him so far. It doesn’t mean he hates kids. He doesn’t.
He just doesn’t know what to do with them.
“What do we do?” he asks; and, when he gets no reply, says it louder. “What do we do, Snaf?”
“Why're you asking me?” His companion demands, sounding just as harassed as Eugene feels. “I look like I know?”
“Well, I’ve got no clue! So if you’re just as lost as I am...” Eugene trails off, swallowing hard. He’s doing his best not to look at it.
Not it, his traitorous brain reminds him. Her.
The child in front of them doesn’t make much of an impression. Chances are, neither of them would have noticed her at all, if she hadn’t wandered out of the trees and scares them both half to death. She seemed frightened at first; until they both lowered their guns at the realization of just what they were looking at. Then they were just left staring, like the girl is a creature from another planet. Of all the things they expected to find on a scouting mission, a kid isn’t one of them.
Now, she seems rather disillusioned with them. She sits in a pile of leaves, gathering them up in her tiny fists, and glancing up at them before letting them flutter in the air around her. If Sledge didn’t know better, he’d say she’s showing off — trying to put on a show for the silly American soldiers who’ve never seen a child before, apparently.
He feels more hysterical than she looks. That makes him feel sort of pathetic.
“Do we keep her?” he demands, voice jumping in pitch. He must sound ridiculous, but he’s at a genuine loss. They didn’t teach this in basic.
Snafu turns his head slowly to look at him. “I ain’t ready to be a father, Sledgehammer.”
The worst part is, it takes Sledge a minute to realize he’s joking. Snafu’s eyes are so wide and earnest that the moment it clicks he feels like he’s been smacked. He returns the favor by smacking Snafu right back. His palm connects with his ribs, but Snafu doesn’t even flinch. “You think this is funny? Huh? What're we supposed to do with her?”
“I dunno.” Snafu takes a step out of Sledge’s range and squints at the child. “Scrawny lil’ bit, ain’t she?”
It’s true; the little girl has got less meat on her bones than Snafu himself. Her arms are like twigs, marred with scratches and bug bites. Her cheeks are hollow, and even the worn dress she’s wearing looks two sizes too big for her. Sledge wonders when the last time she ate was, and feels a flash of instinctual concern. She can’t be more than two or three. This little kid out here in the jungle, all alone...
The war has not been kind to Okinawa’s civilians. In the constant chaos of battle, it’s hard to make out who’s the enemy and who isn’t. Sledge doesn’t think he’s killed a civilian himself, but if he did he probably wouldn’t know it. He’s seen houses be fired on indiscriminately, come across the dead bodies of women and children. The memory of the woman with her baby in her arms, sobbing over the dynamite strapped to her chest, still makes him dizzy with horror. He knows how innocent people get caught up in the atrocities of war. It happens too often. Just looking at this wide eyed child makes his stomach turn.
“We can’t just leave her,” he emphasizes, stating the obvious. “We’ve got to do something.”
“You got an idea what that somethin’ is?”
Sledge thinks for a moment, though he really doesn’t have to. “No.”
Snafu considers the child, like he’s examining apples at the supermarket. After a few seconds he drops down in a crouch, eyes narrowed at the child. Sledge wonders if he’s going to do that creepy intimidation shtick again, before he holds out one arm.
“See if she’ll come to us,” he declares, then begins to beckon the girl. “Come here. Come here, petit chou, come closer. We ain’t gon’ hurt ya. Come here, you.”
The child blinks at him with black, unimpressed eyes. She doesn’t move.
“For God’s sake,” Sledge says.
“Hush,” Snafu retorts, shuffling a step closer to her. “C’mon, baby. How old’re you, anyway?”
“She doesn’t know what you’re saying.”
“Come on now.” Snafu reaches the girl. Since he’s apparently elected to ignore his companion, Sledge sees no reason to warn him about the look in the child’s eye as he reaches out. He doubts that Snafu, the apparent baby expert, hasn’t noticed himself.
Snafu’s hand settles on her arm, and she screams.
Not just screaming. Full on wailing. It’s like the screech of a shell tearing through the night, an air raid siren going off, fire trucks racing to the scene of a disaster. Snafu stumbles back like he’s been burned, while the girl...
Well, the girl doesn’t go anywhere. She just curls into a ball and keeps screaming.
“Dammit!” Snafu hisses. “Shit! Damn! How do we shut her up, Sledge?”
“You’re asking me?”
“Sledge!”
“Fine!”
He really has no idea, so Sledge does the first thing he can think of: he empties his pockets. He’s got a tiny pencil in there, and a few bent playing cards, among other things. His most interesting possession is his worn Bible — the same one he’s studiously filled with notes since they landed. He promptly throws his Bible at the child.
(His ancient grandmother used to employ a similar method to get Sledge and his brother to shut up when they were children. This doesn’t occur to him until later.)Whether out of shock, confusion, or just plain outrage, the girl cuts herself off. Her gaze swerves from the book lying at her side, to  Eugene, then back again. Slowly, she picks up the pocket Bible. Snafu, still on his haunches, blinks at her.“I can’t believe you just did that,” he says. Eugene stays quiet. “What’s wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong with me? Huh? She’s stopped crying, hasn’t she?”
The child promptly flings the book right back. It bounces off of Sledge’s helmet, nearly knocking him over.
“You know, I think I like her,” Snafu says.
They wind up taking the little girl back, because there’s nothing else for them to do.
“Next town we find, we leave her there,” Burgie tells them. “We can’t have a kid hanging around and giving away our position. ‘Til then, just try to keep her quiet, alright?”
“Got it,” Sledge replies. He’s carefully not looking over his shoulder, where he knows Snafu will be bouncing the little girl in his arms. She seems to have taken a gradual liking to Snafu. He’s the only one she’ll let pick her up, and he takes advantage of this by bouncing her on his hip at every opportunity, holding her and muttering little ditties in a mixture of English and French. When Sledge pointed out that she couldn’t understand a word of it, he just smirked.
“She don’t gotta understand. She’s a kid. They like songs.” When he looked at the little girl again, there was a shade of humanity in his eyes — one Sledge had never seen before. (It only occurred to him later that perhaps he was not seeing Snafu at all, but the Merriell Shelton that existed before the war. The one who would bounce hypothetical little sisters on his knee and sing them songs; who’d play peek-a-boo; who maybe dreamed of a family of his own one day. No wonder he seemed so unfamiliar. Sledge does not know that Shelton at all.)
That night, when Snafu curls up in their foxhole, the little girl is with him. He’s made her a nest out of some old t-shirts and blankets. She curls up in it like a small dog, drawing herself into a ball and snuggling down. Even Sledge has to admit that it’s kind of cute.
He and Snafu both watch over her for a few minutes, neither sure what to say. It seems wrong, somehow, to pretend this is a normal night. This is not normal. This little girl’s life is changed forever, torn up by a war she’s too young to even understand. She is innocent of all the bloodshed; yet here she is, rescued from the woods, washed and fed, by the people her father would call enemies.
“I ain’t gonna give her a name,” Snafu says after a while. “She has one already. Ain’t fair.”
“She’ll be alright,” Sledge says, and hopes it’s true. He has to believe that God will provide for this child — the way he has not seen fit to do for anyone else on this cursed island.
Maybe, maybe. Maybe she will live a good life. A life of peace.
“Yeah,” Snafu mutters. “She will be.”
When he looks up, Sledge sees the echoes of Merriell Shelton in Snafu’s eyes, and he cannot help but wonder if the two are not one and the same.

╰ ° 「 TAYLOR MARIE HILL / 20 / DEMIGIRL / SHE&THEY 」HAVE YOU SEEN MAVIS LANGLEY AROUND CAMPUS ?? THEY ARE A SERAPH & ARE MAJORING IN EUROPEAN LANGUAGES. SOME SAY THAT THEY ARE ENIGMATIC & ADVENTUROUS, BUT CAN BE APATHETIC & CLOSED OFF !! WHO KNOWS THOUGH ?? MAYBE WE’LL SEE THEM AT THE NEXT PARTY ??
henlo !! saffron (aka utah’s mun) here, back at it again with your local manic pixie dream girl & overall escapist princess mavis!! she responds to both she & they pronouns so feel free to use whichever when interacting with them, but !! i’ll write a lil bit about her down under the cut & maybe even some possible plots or connections so you know give this a little HEART if youre down for plotting (with her!! or utah!! or both of them honestly)!! cheers, angels. ♥
so mavis was lowki based off of holly golightly or clarisse from fahrenheit 451 in that,,
theyre very enigmatic & kind of escapist, in a way? theyre always looking for new things & new adventures, drifting in & out of classes & hallways; its a wonder theyre still in hexlore, tbh, bc god only knows how many classes shes already missed?? yikes
there are stories about where she came from & very few people have gotten close enough to know the real story: the rumors go either
a) she & her family have always been sort of nomadic; traveling here & there & everywhere & never having a concrete place to call home which is why she wanders around so damn much now; or
b) they were too concrete that they never got to see the world, so now that they finally get to they damn sure will
in truth its the latter that rings with more accuracy, but its not in the way that most would think
see, mavis never really had her parents around because they passed away in a tragic car accident, so she lived with her grandfather
but she loved her grandfather more than anything, really, & was more than content staying in with him because the two would make all these plans that they were going to travel the world together one day
except when she was 18 her grandfather passed away :( & she was left actually alone for the first time in her life
but he left her with?? this ginormous inheritance & told her to use it for all of the adventures they were meant to have together
so of course,, she uses it!! & never really had the time to process her grief & the feeling of being alone fully because she had left before she even had the chance
so even upon going to college she never really lost tht part of her & is just very nomadic & mysterious & all that jazz
personality wise mavis is very sweet, like ,, shes your typical seraph in the sense that shes very angelic & sweet,, if she allows you to get to know her, that is; because she knows shes a dumbass romantic at heart she often dips out of things before they can get too close
shes very much against feeling things for people too strongly. but she has so much love for vinyl records & sweaters & driving around at night while listening to old timey songs
shes a drifter which is why she may come off as a bitch but ! best believe she does mean well, even if she can be god awful at showing it
because of how enigmatic she is i imagine shes p popular but just?? doesnt care for it, its never rly been important to her oaisjaoi
has all of these adventures & probably eats at all of these hole-in-the-wall joints youve never heard of; doesnt drink or do drugs but smokes like a factory & she tries to quit it occasionally but old habits die hard
mavis is a demigirl; meaning, she doesnt fully identify as female (she doesnt fully identify as anything, really), but she does lean toward her more feminine qualities!!
shes also a panromantic demisexual, so while shes a romantic at heart, really, it takes an awful lot of trust &/ time before she can get sexually involved with someone
as a seraph shes very much fond of her light manipulation powers & tries to develop it a lot?? like of all her powers this is what she finds most helpful &/ useful, so she does try her best to maximize it!!
is still sad inside,,,, save her from herself oasijaoijs
OKAY WANTED CONNECTIONS!! that was long wasnt it, yikes
the ride or die – someone mavis is more than willing to bring along on her crazy adventures; someone they actually trust with their whole life & wouldnt doubt for a minute, theyre probably number one on mavis’ speed dial & one of, if not the most important person in their life at the moment, trufacc.
the case crackers – the people who want to figure her out?? what makes her tick? why she is the way she is? this can be done in the form of fake friends who jus want to weasel information out of her or ppl who just explicitly over-ask for details about her life without meaning to, but yes
the ex-girlfriend – one of the few people mavis has bared her soul in front of,, they couldve ended awfully (mavis dipping on them, them arguing, etc) or on good, healthy terms, but definitely mavis can never look at them the same way again
the first time – because shes demisexual thered be no friends with benefits plot BUT i would love to see someone being mavis’ first time?? like imagine just,, having gotten close enough to her for her to actually trust u with it aoijaoi . whatever happened after can be up for plotting but !!! giVe me this
crush – unrequited or mutual or whatever .
someone she dipped on – be it a friendship, a relationship, or an almost something, mavis escaped before she could feel trapped enough & its been a mess trying to pick up the pieces from that since
the unlikely friend – probably a succubus or a siren or a hellcat or vampire; someone with a personality so different it’d seem almost impossible for them to get along, but they do!!

Music of 2018
Top 10 Albums (No Particular Order)
Death Grips - Year of the Snitch
Even though it’s had some time to settle, I’m still not 100% sure where to place this album in Death Grips’s discography. Regardless, Death Grips continues to reinvent themselves more and more with every continuous album, and continues moreso to be more unpredictable than ever. The departure from their earlier hip hop sound and more toward experimental punk and rock suits them better than ever. While I’m a bit shaky on the predictability of the sound of some songs (Flies & Streaky notably), the songs of which do fall flat, I absolutely love the direction the majority of the album trends toward - songs like Death Grips is Online, Black Paint, and Dilemma perfectly embody the direction I’d hoped they’d go into after The Powers That B. Meanwhile, songs like The Fear and Little Richard continue to be as odd as ever - in the best way possible. My one complaint is that I’d wished they’d have departed a bit more from the predictable hip hop songs I’d mentioned above, but overall, the rest of the album is so great it’s hard to complain.
Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Rerecording/Remaster)
Car Seat Headrest’s original Twin Fantasy is a kind of cult classic bandcamp album which garnered a lot of notoriety, so the 2018 reissue garnering just as much should be a surprise to no one. While it’s true that the original rough quality added to the charm and in the re-recording process certain elements of the original don’t have the same effect, the strengths of the album shine through regardless. What can I say about this album that hasn’t already been said? This is the best indie rock album about depressed gay furries on tumblr I’ve ever heard.
Teyana Taylor - K.T.S.E
The Kanye Wyoming sessions were definitely a spectacle at the time, and because of all the chaos surrounding the releases, and the incredible amount of hype that was generated during the time, KTSE was unfairly overshadowed by a lot of the other albums that came out at the end - and it being the last to release, further mucked by delays and technical problems, didn’t help its case. Listening to the album in full though, it’s pretty sad this was the case, but in my opinion it’s the best album to come out of the Wyoming sessions. It’s an amazing call back to Kanye’s ability to still sample soul, and some of the instrumentals took me right back to the early 2000s, like a time machine. Teyana Taylor might not be the strongest voice in R&B or the most well known, but her performance alongside these instrumentals is definitely something to be lauded. In addition, Gonna Love Me is one of my favorite songs of 2018.
IDLES - Joy as an Act of Resistance.
While I have to admit I’m not as hot on some of the social critiques this album delivers in its music, its done in a way that I can definitely appreciate it. That said, the music on this stuff itself is some of the best punk I’ve heard in forever - maybe this decade. There’s some points of contention in the bluntly direct, sometimes annoying lyrics , but overall, a lot of the politics can probably be seen as a callback to the roots of punk with a modern spin. That said, the instrumentation and vocal performances on this thing are great. As a punk fan at heart I have to say this if there’s one punk or rock album you listen to this year, it should probably be this one. It’s amazing.
Parquet Courts - Wide Awaaaaake!
Continuing on from the last entry above, Parquet Courts smashed it earlier in the year with this post-punk revival album. While post-punk may continue to be influential to a lot of artists, I admittedly haven’t heard a lot of straight up post-punk revivalism, especially not as enjoyable as this, in a long time. While the themes of the album are honestly pretty similar to the above album as well, this is probably the closest you’re gonna get to a Talking Heads or Joy Division album in 2018 - and damn is it good.
Hermit and the Recluse (Ka & Animoss) - Orpheus vs. the Sirens
Two darlings of the real hip hop underground link up for one of the best hip hop albums of the year - and probably the best written. Ka continues to push for his well deserved title of one of the best lyricists to ever enter the genre - which is near insane given his very underground status. A lot of the instrumentals on this thing perfectly suit Ka’s style - lots of looping, eclectic beats, with a hint of eeriness or vintage shine. There’s some soul-like samples mixed in as well for good measure, something I’d never complain about on a hip hop album. Ka’s writing is arguably some of the best in his career as well - which given his portfolio up until this point, is really saying something. His densely layered, metaphor and thematically driven calls to mythology and poetically-inspired style of rapping are the perfect complement to the instrumentals over this album.
J.I.D - DiCaprio 2
J.I.D is one of my favorite newcomers in hip hop, and definitely one of the acts in the genre I’m hopeful for the future - not that this is an uncommon opinion. At this point, he’s got cosigns in coming from every direction - enough that people are already calling him overrated - and he hasn’t even really gotten started yet. The Never Story was an interesting debut album when it came out last year - a case study in an eclectic hip hop album that manages to encapsulate much of the modern trends in the genre while also incorporating some fantastic rapping and some oddly enchanting music choices. DiCaprio 2 - in J.I.D’s own words - is not his magnum opus, or his GKMC - an album comparison common in those already comparing him to a young Kendrick Lamar (despite JID being almost 30, surprisingly). However, despite that, this is a fantastic album regardless; the rapping is some of the best of any newcomer to the genre. There’s punchlines and flows that make callbacks to Lil Wayne, and technical skill to match many currently lauded acts. It’s a great mix of technicality, fun, and skill. While not every song is perfect - Tiiied and Westbrook were a bit underwhelming in my opinion - when this album reaches highs, it reaches REALLY high. Songs like Off Da Zoinkys, Skrawberries, and Despacito Too to name a few are hints that J.I.D isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and I’m certainly excited for his future.
MGMT - Little Dark Age
A lot of what I’ve heard from MGMT has been hit or miss for me, but their synth heavy album from earlier in the year is one of those times where when they hit with me, they really seem to hit heavy. The psychedelic vibes on this album are pretty entrancing, and while I can see the vocals as being love or hate, personally I’m a great fan of them on most of the songs. There’s a few low points where they feel a bit robotic - perhaps on purpose - but outside of those few grating moments, the album’s highs are too high for me to ignore otherwise. Mark it up as a win for psychedelic pop.
Pusha T - Daytona
As I said earlier, Kanye’s Wyoming sessions were one of the biggest music spectacles this year, especially for those in the hip hop genre. Combined with the massive hype circling Pusha T’s supposed release of King Push - an album up there with Detox and Doomstarks in probably never coming out - most hip hop fans were posted up for hours each night in anticipation of what would actually release (and what wouldn’t). While I can’t say I enjoyed this as much as KTSE, it’s still a great album regardless. The instrumentals are gritty and tight - there’s no room for mistakes, and there’s rarely any lows. Pusha raps as great as always, minus some slip ups with some poor or awkward lines. Overall, it’s a great album, but it’s short nature and lack of experimentation or boundary pushing leave a bit to be desired. Kanye’s fantastic production shines more than Pusha does at times - which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it never feels like Push really leaves his comfort zone; especially after hearing songs in the past like Lunch Money, it makes me wish he did. Regardless, I can’t really thrash this album; it’s a perfectly compressed hip hop album, and one of the best of the year.
Blood Orange - Negro Swan
Devonte Hynes, better known as Blood Orange, is one of those musicians I’m suprised we don’t hear more about. I have to admit - his voice can be a bit grating at times - but overall, it’s one of those albums whose highs far overshadow subjective lows like that. The instrumentation is varied and lush; overall, Hyne’s production is some of the best its ever been. There’s a nice dip in pop, r&b, hip hop, funk, and other genres throughout the album. While I may have said his voice can be grating at times, I will say when it works - it works. Songs like Charcoal Baby are great examples of his voice working in tandem beautifully with his instrumentals. There’s some great vocal performances on this, and again, I think there’s some amazing production. It’s also more impressive when you realize Hynes alone produced the vast majority of this album, along with singing on basically all the songs. Other complaints? I do wish he brought back Despot because Clipped On from Cupid Deluxe. is an amazing song.
Honorable Mentions / Albums I Found Interesting but not Amazing
Lil Peep - Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2
COWYS2 isn’t a perfect album. None of Lil Peep’s albums are perfect - his music has largely remained controversial; it seems to piss off both rock and hip hop fans. There’s a lot of complaints I’ve seen about this album - “it’s overproduced” seems to be the biggest one. Is it? Maybe. But man, this album appeals to my love of emo music like no album has in a long time. His writing might not the best, and the instrumentals might be a bit weak at times, but overall, as a posthumous album, you can only complain so much. It’s not perfect, but neither have any of his other albums been. For what it is - a mix of hip hop and early 2000s pop punk and emo - it’s great as it is. Runaway is one of my favorite songs of the year.
Lil Peep - Goth Angel Sinner EP (Unofficial Leak)
I was debating if I should include this at all since it’s technically unofficial, but given I included COWYS, I figured it was worth it. Peep’s death was an untimely shock, and while his music might not have always been the best, I think his interesting blend of music and notably recognizable voice was something he’ll be remembered for regardless. He was growing in his sound, moving away from hip hop and more into that musical sphere of punk and emo - and GAS is a sad hint at what could have been. It’s some of his best music by a wide margin, and it’s profoundly depressing that we’ll never see him at his true potential. RIP Peep.
Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts
One of the hipster darling albums of the year, I wasn’t as impressed as everyone else. It’s not bad by any means, but I didn’t think it was amazing. There are some great points the album - the production is pretty good throughout, and Cudi and Kanye both deliver some great performances, but overall, I feel like it fell a bit short. The 7 song length didn’t help either; unlike Daytona, it doesn’t feel as tight, and sometimes it sounds more muddy than anything. Cudi’s vocals can be a bit lazy at times as well, and some of the insistent repetition on the songs doesn’t work well in an album so incredibly short to begin with. All that said, it’s a good album - I don’t want to disparage it too much. It has some of Kanye’s best rapping in ages (regardless of whether he wrote it), and it’s a fun listen. Kids See Ghosts and Cudi Montage are my favorite songs.
Earl Sweatshirt - Some Rap Songs
Some Rap Songs is an album I’ve gone back and forth on quite a lot, which is impressive considering it’s barely been out as of writing this. It’s a short album, so I’ve managed to listen a few times, but even so, I’m torn on a lot of it. Earl’s writing is good, and some of the production is eclectic and interesting, but there are times the album dips in severe quality. Regardless of if it was intentional, the muddy (if not straight poor) mixing, lofi recording quality, and lack of variation are some of the few complaints I have on the album. It feels incredibly lazy at times - whether on purpose or not is a different question - but whether it “works” isn’t. There are some songs I do really like - I think Peanut and The Mint are some of the more interesting cuts, but songs like Nowhere2Go among others feel unimpressive, if not falling flat completely. If anything else, it’s an interesting listen, and especially emotional for those already fans of Earl.
Frank Ocean - ENDLESS (2018 Remaster/Reissue)
Frank Ocean is one of those artists who deserves the vast majority of his widespread acclaim. While his less than ideal music release schedule and mysterious public persona (or lack thereof) certainly play into that, his music really is what takes the trophy at the end of the day. When Endless originally released, Blonde definitely overshadowed it (and for good reason), but on its own, Endless still shines bright. The 2018 reissue adds a few new points to the album as well, which overall manage to improve it to a great degree. I was considering placing it in my top 10, but it felt unfair considering this album didn’t “really” come out in 2018, and the changes aren’t big enough to warrant considering it a new album. Still though, it deserved a mention.
Kero Kero Bonito - Time ‘n’ Place
I’m still a bit disappointed at KKB’s artistic choice to change their image and focus - it feels a bit cheap and insulting to some of their audience - but I can’t really disparage their music. While their artistic and musical growth seems more artificial and inorganic than anything, at the end of the day, it’s still growth. On its own, Time ‘n’ Place is a good album. It’s a good mix of their own brand of fun, experimentation, and genre hopping. While the pop fans they courted with their debut might still be disappointed, I did enjoy the album quite a lot, even if the aesthetic felt a bit annoying and - again - artificial. Taken on its own in isolation though, again, it’s a good album.
Anderson .Paak - Oxnard
There’s not a ton I can really say about Oxnard. It’s a good album. There’s a few points in which it falls flat, but even then, it’s not really bad. Okay, maybe except for the last song, which feels completely out of place. It’s no Malibu, no Yes Lawd!, and no Venice, but it’s a good album. Paak’s talent shines through no matter what. Dr. Dre’s influence really does shine through on this album though - it’s very reminiscent of some of Compton to me. I can see hardcore fans of Malibu or Yes Lawd not really liking this album, but the exploration of hip hop and funk more than r&b and soul really do suit Paak during a lot of this album. I say this as a massive fan of Malibu as well - it was one of my favorite albums of the year it came out. He’s branching out and experimenting, and it’s not a bad thing - especially when you look at his entire musical history. It’s worth checking out.
Leon Bridges - Good Thing
I haven’t seen his album talked about, like, basically anywhere. I’m surprised, because it’s a really good neo-soul album. It feels a bit repetitive at times, but the quality is consistent throughout. It’s an enjoyable listen if anything else. It’s not experimental, it’s not super varied, but it’s a tightly strung together, quality listen. The instrumentation is rich and catchy, the Leon’s vocals are great, and overall, much of the album is what I’d expect a neo-soul singer who isn’t D’Angelo in 2018. That said, there are a few weak points in the album where it’s a little week - and trends a bit more towards pop disappointingly, but the pure soul parts of the album are where Leon really shines the best.
Playboi Carti - Die Lit
Carti really can’t write music if his life depended on it, but he doesn’t need to. This thing, as a mainstream trap album, is weird. The instrumentals are odd, definitely not the type of thing you’d expect to hear on this type of album for the most part. They’re reminiscent of cloud rap at times, and at other times so incredibly minimal you can’t help but praise Carti for making the song still get stuck in your head. Overall, the instrumentals are entrancing, hazy, sometimes even bordering on possibly experimental. There’s a unique usage of samples that’s just instantly entrancing on a lot of these songs. That said, there’s still a lot of pop sensibilities, and these songs kind of water down the album a bit by departing from these aforementioned traits. It’s also just incredibly long at 19 songs; while this may work for some albums, for the type of music Carti is making, it kind of suffers from its length. Carti’s performances are the point of contention with most people. His writing is, again, basically nonexistent. Still, he manages to somehow steal the show over the production on a lot of this album. Whether it’s just his excessive usage of adlib ridden, partially lazy flows, or half-sung, half-slurred delivery, he just manages to carry a charisma that’s hard to ignore - even when he is saying literally nothing. It’s catchy, and in this type of music, that’s what matters. For hip hop fans especially, it’s an interesting listen.
Biggest Disappointments & Least Favorite/Worst Albums (No Particular Order)
Kanye West - Ye
I’m a massive kanye fan, and I recognize that a lot of his more recent work can be panned a bit before growing into place. Yeezus and TLOP were two albums which were more growers than straight out the pan classics or similar. Ye, however, is no TLOP or Yeezus. It’s disappointing because a lot of good music came out of the Wyoming sessions, but for as much of a spectacle as it was, its centerpiece really fell flat. There’s some good songs on it - I really do like No Mistakes for example. Overall though? It’s length does it no favors, and at the end of the day, most of the album is incredibly medicore - which is exemplified even further by the fact that it’s Kanye producing it. Certain songs like Violet Crimes, which were at least meaningful, completely lose their meaning once you realize Kanye didn’t even write them, or given his recent associations with certain people, even mean the words written for them. It’s a mess, but not the good type of mess like TLOP. It’s just a mess.
Nas - Nasir
It’s a throw up between this and Ye for what’s the worse album out of the Wyoming sessions. I mean, in the very least, at least Kanye brought his efforts to this record. The production is honestly not bad, and at times, pretty unique. Cops Shot the Kid is a pretty good song, albeit a little bit annoying because of the repetition. The real problem with this album? Nas. For someone with such a reputation for being a legendary rapper - I mean, he wrote Illmatic - what the hell is this? It sounds like he put this together on the taxi on the way to the livestream release party (which unsurprisingly, didn’t even work). Even beyond, the uh, downright insane anti-vax and 5%-er conspiracy shit on the first song, the writing’s just straight up lazy, and Nas sounds like he couldn’t care less. It’s hard to believe a Nas and Kanye collaboration turned out this awful, but here we are.
Denzel Curry - Taboo/Ta13oo
I know people are going to kill me for putting this on the list, but I have to be completely honest. I really like Denzel Curry, and I’ve been cheering for him since before he even made Ultimate. I’ve known him since he was on Raider Klan and working with LUM on Twistin’. I really like him and his music, which is why I’m so disappointed by this album. It’s not as bad as a lot of the other stuff in this list, but it’s not really that good either. Coming off of his last few projects, it feels like a massive step down, and a failure to utilize his best skills while, for the most of the project, capitalizing instead on most of his weaknesses.I won’t say it’s a bad album, but it falls short of expectations. His lyricism is incredibly weak, and when doing a supposed concept album, that’s pretty important. His rapping - and conveying the concept - is subpar at best. He has some good tracks on this, but not enough that it overpowers the vast amount of mediocrity on it. Denzel isn’t a super impressive singer, and he overdoes it a bit with considering this one of his strengths. There’s a lot of boring songs that say very little but masquerade as being deeper than they actually are. There are lots of instrumental choices that destroy the replayability of otherwise good songs too - for example, the high pitched background noise and odd gargling/scratching on Sirens. Overall? It’s not as bad as other albums on this list, but I’m incredibly disappointed with it. Probably the most overrated album of 2018.
Gorillaz - The Now Now
Not sure what to say about this other than it’s about 40 minutes of mediocre, forgettable electropop and synth funk. It’s uh, better than Humanz at least I guess.
Princess Nokia - A Girl Cried Red
Oh my god, Princess Nokia, why? I love your music, and you were one of my favorite artists to be recently receiving more acclaim - definitely one of the best upcoming women in hip hop too. But this is...awful. I mean, I get it. It’s a fun side-step project that calls back to her roots as a goth kid, something that’d been prevalent in her music. I like emo a lot myself, as I’ve said earlier, but this is just straight up bad. I hope she had fun making it, because I didn’t have any fun listening to it. It takes the absolute worst parts of Lil Peep’s music and exaggerates it; the emo-inspired instrumentals are cheap and unimpressive, and her singing is...awful. It’s like, parody level of bad. Incredibly unpleasant and grating to listen to, and her lyrics are parody level as well, which I assume is at least purposeful. Might honestly be in the running for not just one the most disappointing albums, but one of the worst in general this year.
J. Cole - KOD
J. Cole is a skilled rapper and producer who’s really overrated in social media and music spheres. While I’m glad it’s gotten a bit better, I have to say, the album he put out altogether this year is pretty unimpressive. I’m happy he’s trying a bit better to be accessible, but it’s just not a great attempt at what it could be. His rapping is still pretty good, and I’m glad he’s trying to reach out and make a bit more “accessible” music, but I think a lot his attempts at things on this album fall flat. The production is subdued and forgettable, which can be alright, but combined with his repeated use of repetitive, uninteresting hooks and little progression in each song, it’s just an overall forgettable album. It’s sad, because he touches on some important topics on the album, but it’s just not that well done - and not nearly as profound as J Cole himself seems to think it is. It’s also a step down from 4 Your Eyez Only, which was already quite polarizing. He took the worst parts of that album and carried them to this, while not having the rest of the elements of the album be strong enough to really carry it. Props to J. Cole for his amazing run of features this year though.
A$AP Rocky - TESTING
Testing sounds like what someone who’s never listened to anything experimental would think experimental sounds like. It’s the type of hollow artsy album whose sole artistic merit is constantly reminding you how artsy it thinks it is. There are some decent tracks on here, it’s not awful or anything, but god, it’s just so mediocre. Nothing on here is really memorable; tracks come and go, and features seem incredibly tacked on at times, such as FKA twigs on Fukk Sleep. Rock has flow, but he’s just such a mediocre rapper still. It’s a bit of a mess, and again, not the good type. There are a few good tracks, and a few catchy moments, but with the wait and rollout leading up to this, I can say none of the hype was worth it.
6ix9ine - Dummy Boy
One of most controversial figures in modern music abandons the style he embraced along his come up to further embrace watered down pop music. There are a lot of features, and some of them are good, and some of them aren’t. It’s a compilation of singles made to chart, and any listener can tell on one listen. Sometimes it’s fun, and sometimes it’s downright awful. Did I really expect anything else? Well, I liked a lot of his pre-fame music to be honest, back when he was still signed to FCK THM and repping Scumgang. Stuff like Yokai for example. Unfortunately, this album just isn’t good at all. Formulaic, drab, and watered down pop rap with little identity or variation; and when it does vary - see the latin trap songs - it’s beyond horrible. Sad!
JPEGMAFIA - Veteran
Not gonna say this is the worst album in the world or a necessarily bad album or anything, but it doesn’t deserve the hype. It’s experimental, sure, and impressive at times, sure, but it’s one of those albums which people say they love to appear a certain way more than they actually will ever listen to it. I know peggy couldn’t give a shit what I or anyone else has to say about his music or his messages, and all the more power to him; even though I disagree, I respect it .That all said, I appreciate experimentation, and some songs are okay, but I’m never listening to this again.
Travis Scott - Astroworld
Rodeo-era Travis Scott is never coming back, and that’s a hard thing to deal with. The album has some highs - Stop Trying to Be God is great for example - but its lows are quite low. Again, it’s not a bad album by any means, but when Rodeo is in your discography...meh. It feels like album release schedule is a Fibonacci sequence, because this album is a collage of his last two - Rodeo and Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight. There’s some impressive directing and musical choices on this, but a lot of that super hollow pop sensibility and pop musical direction of the latter shines through as well. Artists grow, and as Travis has gotten bigger, he’s trying his best to keep his entire audience satisfied. With hits like Sicko Mode doing so well, he’s accomplished that. I can’t really sit here and disparage him in full for doing that, but I also can’t lie and say this album wasn’t a little disappointing knowing what highs he could reach if he wanted to.
Yung Lean - Poison Ivy
I love Yung Lean and will defend him and his music no matter what, but this isn’t one of his better ventures. Coming off of Stranger, Lean showed immense growth and experimentation in one of his best and most personal albums yet. He had a few singles in between that and this which were alright, a bit more reminiscent of Draingang and Bladee’s work. When I saw the album cover for this, I assumed it would be in the direction of his punk band, Dod Mark, maybe with a mix of elements from Stranger. Unfortunately, Poison Ivy falls flat on that. It feels like a massive step back for Lean stylistically, especially given he just released one of his best albums prior. The production is pretty great though on its own, just not really in greater context. It’s more of a Draingang-styled album, which is a niche I’m not a massive fan of comparatively. I’ll still be looking forward to his next album though.
Lil Wayne - Tha Carter V
This isn’t a bad album, and before anyone says anything, I’m not a hater of Lil Wayne. In fact, I think there’s an argument for him being one of the best rappers to exist in the genre. That said, the album’s massive wait and hype just wasn’t worth it. People really didn’t know what to expect, and the massive saga that lead up to this couldn’t possibly have met expectations. The music is from an older era, and on a lot of it, you can really tell. Wayne’s rapping is pretty fantastic, and his punchlines and verses are on point as usual. He isn’t really the problem as much as the rest of the album is; dated production, hooks, and features are just a few of the problems I found on the album. It’s a bit sad that this came and went with such an air of general mediocrity around it, because after the saga and the all the shit Wayne went through, he deserved better. Again though, there’s no way this could have met expectations, so in a vacuum - it’s a good album. If this has released when it was originally supposed to years ago, it’d probably be amazing. It’s just in the current musical climate, it feels out of place and dated.
