This is my fic for the 2024 Murderbot Gift Exchange!! My giftee was @babybluesquid. I was so excited about your prompts, they gave me the perfect chance to really tease out my emotions about System Collapse a bit more! Happy new year, I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Happy New Year and happy new year fanwork exchange to @businesstiramisu!

I was captivated and intrigued by the idea of instrumental and non-English playlists/fanmixes; I listen to a lot of synthwave music that gives me high-tech intensity Murderbot vibes. Along with your other suggestion of non-English songs, it made me want to try extending my fanmix chops to put together some properly in-depth fanmixes using those musical influences!

So here are TWO fanmixes with extremely different vibes. Which one are you in the mood for: intense robot adventures across the Corporation Rim, or the affirming and uplifting story of a place that strives to be a home?

Murderbot Diaries: Exit Strategy Spoilers

This is an animation based on a scene in  Exit Strategy, book 4 in the Murderbot Diaries. It occurs near the end of the novel, right before the main climax, so contains MAJOR spoilers.

This animation contains audio from the offical audiobook, though I did skip about 2-3 ‘lines.’

I did different sections with large gaps between them, so the art-style shifts a bit, and I was too lazy to go back and adjust the pervious scenes. I mean, I did a full min of animation, so I felt like that was good enough, lol Dr. Mensa’s design was based on Gil-estel

This is for @silverstreams , the prompt was "Murderbot and ART get into an argument over something silly/stupid, and the crew is trying their best to not get pulled in but get pulled in anyway," which made me think of one thing: the classic wicked witch of the east audio.

Not quite midnight here, but since the AO3 collection is live, here is my gift for @vaysh11 in the @mbd-gift-exchange! True story, I haven’t actually watched the Mandalorian but the idea of Murderbot and the Mandalorian encountering each other in a bar in space was such a good mental image that I had to draw it. I hope you like it! You can also find it on AO3. (Bonus: a ficlet describing Murderbot’s reaction to this heavily armored stranger, as seen in a conversation with everyone’s favorite research vessel. New @mayakern skirt arrived today! I love how the pockets are green inside, it's such a fun detail. (Also, many many thanks to Devin for exchanging my order for the next size up after I bought a different skirt in the recent sale and realized I'd prefer a larger size, this one fits perfectly!)

Immakuk and Ennikar they anointed each other with the oil of the gods made only for the gods

So a few weeks ago @shaelit asked if anyone had drawn that scene, and then the request got shared in the QT discord server and I was bullied into drawing it lovingly reminded that I have the ability to draw. Anyway, it was high time I did some art from these myths, the Immakuk and Ennikar stories are my favorite in the series and this one is a particular favorite.

I thought it’d be great to see the PresAux team engage in some quality time with Murderbot, watching its favourite show, of course. Dr Mensah did say she enjoyed it, and Ratthi already watches it enough to know the plot intricacies, so why wouldn’t Amena join in, too?

A Murderbot Noir AU as a gift to @vulcan-highblood for the 2023 MBD New Year Gift Exchange! 

More notes on the AU below:

This is an AU where members of ART's crew have been kidnapped by corporates, and due to the high profile of the corp the University can't act fast enough to save them (or else risk exposing the nature of their operation), so ART must take matters into its own hands. It takes a "detour" on a cargo run to find an elusive anti-corporate agent who might be its only chance at finding its crew.

Meanwhile, after MB decided to go with Mensah at the end of ASR, it found that life on Preservation was unbearable. The only time it truly felt like itself was when it was helping station security solve crimes. So it leaves, wandering into the outer reaches of the Corporate Rim, where it keeps coming across people who need its help (mysterious disappearances, people being sold to mining facilities where they'll never be found, etc). And if helping them hurts a Corp at the same time, then all the better. Unbeknownst to MB, it’s attracted the attention of more then corporates, and will be taking on its largest case yet - whether it wants to or not...!

Essentially MB and ART spend the whole adventure playing hot potato with the femme fatale role while fighting over who gets to be detective lol
