Two questions: top 5 things that the Inexperienced Jared Observer should watch him in
Which Terror ep would you rate as Thee best and why?
OOOH HO HO AND I SHALL ANSWER WITH GUSTO Ok. Barring the obvious three choices (i.e. Foundation, The Terror, and Chernobyl, which are really the biggest powerhouses of Jared's acting abilities to date, and then the tier two shows: Carnival Row, Mad Men (it is a very good show overall but if you're there just for jared it takes a while to get to him and it takes a LONG time to get over him), and The Crown), these are my recommendations:
Certain Women His part in this movie is very short, but honestly. it really shows how much this man can do with such a little character, really proving the "no small parts only small actors" adage that folks like to throw around. I still think about him a lot. really showed such a range with so little and it baffles me to this day. Also it's an anthologized narrative and his part and also Lily Gladstone's role in it (her first film role ever btw) as being a horse lesbian with Kristen Stewart really makes it worth the watch a lot more than some of the other bit part things I've seen him in.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows I genuinely think he's my favorite Moriarty of all time. Full stop. he's just such a wicked delight, and it will forever make me curse Guy Ritchie for only giving him bit parts in some of his other films. absolutely criminal.
The Devil's Violinist @prismatica-the-strange and I absolutely did not go into this film expecting it to be as good as it is. we thought it was gonna be a flop. that Jared Harris was gonna play the devil and we'd have a laugh and that would be that. Incorrect. Turns out the guy playing Paganini is actually a bonafide child prodigy violinist and he blows a LOT of the musician biopic performances out of the water because he REALLY DO BE PLAYING THAT VIOLIN LIKE THAT. Oh and also Jared plays his manager who is literally the devil and he has a pincer beard. and he's a sarcastic little shit and he's just a delight.
Two of Us This was genuinely the first film that made Jared a lifelong stand-out name to me at age fourteen. iykyk. He also fulfilled every McLennon shipper's dreams with this movie by kissing Aidan Quinn full on the lips. So if you want an explanation of why he queer codes a lot of his roles, this is it.
It's really hard to choose between The Beast Must Die, The Quiet Ones, and the 2015 Poltergeist remake, so I suppose I'm gonna go with The Beast Must Die because he's a saucy little asshole and he absolutely looks the prettiest in that. But that's the bitch of it with : this man has made a career of making himself a highlight no matter what kind of bit part you throw at him, so like honestly anything in his filmography is worth watching. But yeah he's so pretty in the beast must die. That's all I got. As for the second question... man why can't I choose all of em? why??? 😭😭😭 I can't pit all these bad bitch episodes against each other at any given moment in time man. I love this show too much. I simply cannot choose. it's all so good. I would like to say it's ep 5 for the way jared acts drunkenly (best drunken performance I've ever seen in my entire life), but then I think about him on the gunwale with blanky talking about the reindeer and laughing and how much Jared literally changed from the script to make that moment so goddamn endearing and human. but then I also remember the moment blanky leaves him like??? DUDE. I can't. I cannot choose. my favorite episode is the whole show.

hey diva! dean Martin and jerry lewis anon back. freaky doesn't even begin to cover it. they also had their own oasis style break up (the press called it a divorce, cough cough) id like you to imagine the normal amounts of kissing joke bits you can do with your partner (their term) and multiply it into hays code violation territory? got it? okay now TRIPLE that. those are the levels we're talking about here. they're like mclennon to me in the sense that its not really a matter of /if/, that's cannon it happened and I was there. also why was he always sitting in his lap? why was the memoir called a love story? why
this too IS mclennon

Thank you anons here comes a few replies
Thank you anons for sending me asks!   Some replies as below are random replies to all of you anons it might. I don’t know when all of you all send me these so forgive me if it taken time.
I’m mostly a re-blogger.  First of all there really are so many talented bloggers. I don’t agree with everything I re-blog here, but it got a point that I like at least.
Ok, I am a 100% straight woman I don’t know much about the HBTQ culture myself but I do have my BFF’s besties who are. I’m a big supporter of Pride every year.
First yes, you can ask me anything.
And you can disagree, gimme your opinion. I never meant to be active on Tumblr or it to become a Beatles-McLennon blog but it’s my brain rot and when it’s about Mclennon this place is the only place I go to fort this contex. I’m in no way ashamed for being here.
I don’t push McLennon on anyone I do respect the Beatles and it’s not even a little bit sad if that’s the only thing that draw new fans. The Beatles are historically important and I can understand if it annoys the fandom that grew up with them. My Mother would just say so men can’t be close and love each other as friends? She once laughed when in Get Back John said ”We’re like lovers”. But no she doesn’t see it.
Remember, you can pretty much find anything using google for facts, I do. The Beatles is like an own universe so this place for me is like not part of an official theory or fact I don’t base it on anything else but my guts, I’ve got eyes and ears.  it’s just my take on it’s not facts.
I’d not buy everything in the ”official” Beatle media either.  it’s the same with history in general and even news reports today. There are sides though we ”hear and see” the ”same news”. Some see the bad sides some the good sides, some are the bad guys some good sides, we normal people tend to treat our favorite famous people as some kind of another breed of mankind. etc. But they are people probably doing the same as you at home.
Would love it if Paul google Mclennon and read fanfiction.lol. Surly Sean seem to do that. I don't think he's queerbating us. If a reporter flat out would ask him he'd deny it. But he probably have at least seen it some ways, McLennon coded YT videos and yet he called for out for more Mclennon context!
The Beatles fandom is old and has grown and with that it probably been added views over the years. The Beatles hasn’t been a band in like 60 years and it’s a crazy long time ago it was another time another era but we are always gonna be people and so where they and I don’t think that has changed as much.

has mclennons "banana milkshakes" in paris been code for "sucking dik" all this time
Now you say it, it does make sense. Drinking creamy liquid from undoubtedly the most phallic fruit, seems a bit suspicious to me

2 and 12 plz! 😇
2. When did you get involved in the fandom?
I guess it depends on your definition on “the fandom”! I first actually listened to the Beatles (seriously, not just over the radio) like... summer of 2018? Not that long ago. Then I browsed the r/beatles sub for a bit, then r/bcj then some discord servers. I stayed away from fic + mclennon + art and all that lol. My first Beatles Tumblr account (now abandoned) started like October 2019. Then I started this one idk like February 2020? So that’s when, I guess! I started drawing them and attempted and failed at fic lol
12. Whats your phone lock screen? is it Beatles related?
Hell yeah it is. It’s the Beatles White Album cover. As in, when my (non-Beatles listening) friend looked at it, she asked why my lock screen is a white image with “THE BEATLES” on it and a serial code haha. My home screen is also some pretty, colorful Sgt Pepper fanart

1963,
Paul couldn’t remember when it had first started. This little, private, game John and he had between them. There never was a code of conduct about it. No proper place for it to take place. Or proper time for it. It just seemed random and a spur of the moment. He knew it was like that for him. Making his fingers crawl on John’s back when he wasn’t looking. John during the same to him on his arm when he was focused on something else or was in the middle of an interview. He wasn’t even trying to hide it, really. Not that… it was anything to hide.
They sat on the hard couch in their joint hotel room waiting for Brian to come and tell them it was time to leave. They had all packed up and was wasting the time with a rather slow game of cards. Neither seemed to do very great at it and John looked to be increasingly bored by it.
It was all very sudden when John dramatically yawned, stretched out and leaned in to do their little spider hand game they had done so many times before on Paul’s outstretched hand on the back of the couch. It tickled and Paul tried (and failed) to stifle a laugh. His hand had felt so warm in the claustrophobic room so that when the tips of John’s cold fingers touched his; it jump-started something inside of him.
Paul lacked a proper response; still reeling over the tickling sensation that had gone through him. Something which John seemed to find great joy in as he carelessly pushed the cards unto the floor, scooted forward, and repeated the earlier action which he was rewarded for with a loud giggle from Paul.
“Stop,” he managed to get out at John but it changed nothing as John barked out a burst of laughter and repeated it for a third time; this time ending it with a small flick on Paul’s nose. Before John managed to do it for a fourth time (which Paul saw he was preparing to do), Paul quickly did it on John. The hand quickly crawling from wrist to shoulder and ended too with a small boop on his aquiline nose.
It soon evolved to something a little different. John towering over him, tickling him as if their lives depended on it. The movement of his hands and fingers still maintained a certain spider-like quality of them but it was all too much to really take in and notice as Paul was slowly losing his breath due to the violent outbursts of laughter John forced out of him.
He pleaded to no end through his giggling with tears forming in his eyes. He had never been tickled so hard since… well, he wasn’t sure if he had ever been tickled so hard!
John had always had such a goofy, contagious laugh that even once the older man had stopped the torturous tickling; their laughing continued. Even when John moved away from Paul with a light pat on his neck, a pat that made the hairs on his arms rise up to attention, they continued. It wasn’t till they heard a knock on the door and it opened that they bit their tongues and watched Brian enter the room, the laughter hidden in the gleam of their eyes.
He said one thing or another; Paul wasn’t sure of what. He had a difficult time focusing as he slowly regained all the air that had whizzed out of him like a balloon. He slowly felt John’s hand crawl on his and his eyes connected with John for a very short moment. A second. But it was enough for them to fully reemerge in their laughing fit. He only heard the manager sigh which the slamming of the door followed as they continued their game.

y'know sometimes i think people in the 60s have actually..unconsciously shipped mclennon? or at least noticed something happening there. i was watching the shakespeare skit and when john said "my love my love" there were A LOT of girls shrieking. plus the Beatles cartoons where there's a lot of mclennon, and that one magazine article about why Paul is a favorite beatle and someone said "His looks at John". idk pretty interesting to think about
honestly? i agree. mclennon has been A Thing for the fans definitely since the 60s. unfortunately there’s little on the specific relationship between john/paul from a fan’s perspective, not only because we’ve got few sources, but also because the development of beatlemania was characterized as an adolescent phase, one that had implications of sexual maturity but was largely concentrated on romantic feelings (”i want to hold your hand” is implicitly romantic but mainly innocent), so in the “craze” of beatlemania its likely that any discussion around inter-beatles relationships would have been considered a by-product of female adulation, i.e. anything untoward can be “explained away” by beatlemania. there’s obviously been so much done on beatlemania (might i suggest this book though for some interesting breakdowns; and this book for queer coding in contemporary [60s] music). it’s hard if not impossibly to classify the fans in the 60s as a “fandom” although it’s undeniable that there were elements of beatlemania that are reflected in the way we conduct a fandom today. i’ll also just briefly say that i’m not totally sold with the word “ship” as it implies fiction - and john and paul were together - however within the context of fandom i suppose it’s appropriate.
with regards to the examples you cited.. yeah, it’s really interesting to think that the fans - even if they didn’t necessarily articulate it as such - might have considered a “something” between john and paul. it’s unfortunate because a great deal of beatles books have been written by the old guard of white, largely heterosexual men, so “the beatles myth” has been shaped by their interpretation. i’d be interested to know if there’s been work done by gender or queer academics or writers. i’d say that the shakespeare skit can probably be written off as excitement: the crowd bawls whenever they do anything. you have to remember that the way bands, especially boy bands, are constructed is that it’s all around promise. your favourite beatle singing about love is great, but if they sing it together, to each other? there’s the meaning of the song (it’s to you, the fan, the object of desire and affection) in addition to the act of singing (not one beatle, but two!). i would actually suggest that if you wanted to consider queer readings of the beatles in contemporary culture, i’d look at the french fans. the vast majority were male, and a good number were cited as being queer. it’s tempting to only look at fandom from a female perspective, but when you have male gay fans listening to and interpreting the beatles’ music in a way that resonates with them (man/man, not man/woman), you can ask the question, well, are they attracted to the idea of a beatle singing to them, a man, or are they attracted to the beatles as a homogeneous male group, singing to each other, and by proxy to the audience? i suggest having a look at this excerpt for a further analysis of the gay male fans in paris, 64. there’s a fair bit of evidence that underlines the beatles’ ambivalence towards their gay fan base. note that in a hard day’s night, there are boys as well as girls in the crowd running after them. the subliminal message here is that the beatles are for everyone; another message is that the crowd, which was characterized by the media as one with romantic intentions towards the band, exists in a state of adolescent desire, be it male or female. and all of this, of course, isn’t even going into their fan base in liverpool, where there were rumors about john and paul being together right from the beginning.
a lot of john and paul’s lyrics are ambiguous. their use of pronouns are especially ambiguous. take the “my friend” in can’t buy me love, “darling” in words of love, or even i want to hold your hand, which only says “let me be your man” - a promise of fidelity, but one that is gender nonspecific. THERE ARE SO MANY EXAMPLES. a cynic might say it’s to allow for greater audience reception, although i would suggest that in addition to musical fluidity, it’s also a way for john and paul to express themselves in a manner that is 1. professionally lucrative; and 2. nonthreatening. i’ve spoken before about the gender ambiguity of the early beatles songs, but i can make a bigger post about it if you like. on a general note, i would say that the early beatles career is harder to read than what happened later (apple scruffs) because of the reasons i cited earlier, however it’s obvious that there are undercurrents of gender and sexual ambiguity within the relationship between the beatles and their fans. as for whether the fans consciously thought there was something going on.. we don’t know. i would hesitate to say yes, completely, although i do think that on a subconscious level it’s highly probable. basically, i do agree with you. i think though that the framework of what constitutes a “fandom” and what is/not acceptable (then and now) is a complex one.
