Plot Synopsis: When her Philadelphia radio station is closed for repairs during the holidays, DJ Kara Porter is forced to broadcast from the small town of Bethlehem. Desperate to increase her numbers and get promoted outside of Radio Christmas – a year-round Christmas station, Kara seeks to uncover the identity of the town’s Secret Santa, an anonymous benefactor that saved all of Bethlehem’s Christmas festivities. Along the way, she discovers the true meaning of family, community, love and of course, Christmas. (x)

In My Humble Opinion: The true star of Lifetime’s 2019 movie slate isn’t an old 80s or 90s sitcom star. It’s not Santa or love or even, Christmas. No, folks, the true star of Lifetime this holiday season is a little winter storm named Meghan.

Out of the six movies Lifetime has premiered so far, Winter Storm Meghan has made an appearance in at least four of them. She ruined Meghan Hilty’s escape from her hometown in Sweet Mountain Christmas. She caused Melissa Joan Hart’s hotel problems in Christmas Reservations. She stopped Marla Sokoloff and dude with the hat from driving home safely in The Road Home for Christmas. And she almost cancelled the Christmas festival in Radio Christmas. Winter Storm Meghan is wrecking havoc all across the channel and all across the continental United States.

Last year, I discussed my hope that one day we would get a Hallmark Cinematic Universe of connected stories. Hallmark didn’t deliver, but Lifetime did. Even though Winter Storm Meghan’s trajectory does not make any logical sense (it’s shown up in places ranging from eastern Philadelphia to western Tennessee), the constant references to it lets you imagine a world where Keisha Knight Pulliam is a radio DJ at the same time that Marla Sokoloff is a dueling pianist. There is the potential for these countrywide love stories that take place simultaneously and its fun to think about. A little insane, but fun. And that’s what the best made-for-TV Christmas watching experience should be. A little insane, but fun.

So thank you, Winter Storm Meghan. I hope to see you again soon.

Watch If: You have been working on your moves, if you live for a good snow shoveling party, or if you are so nosy, yet so wise.

Skip If: Your dad could survive two weeks without you, if you usually lose your keys in trees, or if you are a radio journalist who has been shown up by a child picking up your job faster than you.
