melb ritual update
- there was no support act, the set up was late and the show started at 9pm
- the background stained glass seemed diff, they were like pixelated versions
- they played faith (not pinnacle)
- swiss and phantom kissed on stage again and then phantom gave swiss head
- papa said NO during rats and he was SHAKING
- swiss ran across the stage and wanked behind sodo then wiped his hand on sodo’s helmet
- during ritual, he didn’t finger the mic and then he looked at US and waved his hand like he was saying “u horny fuck i’m not going to do it”
- papa didn’t do the jesus bit- and kevin didn’t come out with the leaf blower (he was there tho) I think bc there wasn’t a lot of confetti on stage
- papa forgot the lyrics a couple times (I only remember it specifically during square hammer)
- swiss AND aurora shimmied papa in dance macabre

One quirk that took me a while to sort of feel in my current city is in the overwhelming majority of white australian citizens in this place, despite me being a white Australian no one has a face like me. Back in melb there was of course my family (extended family also) but there were literally thousands of other people with a story like mine and the face to show it. There were other slavic people on the train, overhearing russian in a store, a little deli run by a ukrainian family. In my workplace, all the white people are are from the UK within 3 to 20 generations. One has an italian grandmother for spice.
Its very strange coming from a city that really is made of immigrants and really internalising the view that Australian means your parents came here from anywhere. These descendants of convicts and white Australia policy migrants (white Australia was specifically to re-english the place after a bunch of incorrectly white mainland European refugees came) have far too much say in government policy. Also their lunches and clothes and celebratory rituals are boring and empty even to them. Why do you all wear shoes inside.

Buff Studios
Buff Studios is a premium nail salon melbourne for those seeking a little self-care. Founder Emma Forrest says she feels more put together with a regular manicure and wanted to create a studio that resets the standard.
Hygiene was built into the studio experience from the outset, a smart move prior to the pandemic and an absolute necessity now. A large leathered granite wash station is central to the salon, essential for meticulous cleaning before, during and after treatments for customers and technicians.
The studio also carries the brand’s full range of services from a curated service menu, including their long wear performance polish that claims to last up to two weeks without chipping. It also offers dry pedicures, removing the need for a foot soak and more hygienic than traditional salon pedicures. Designed by Melbournebased Golden, the studio’s boutique functional aesthetic elevates the manicure and pedicure to a personalised ritual. Pastel colours, distinctive functional lighting and minimal distractions encourage a savouring of the experience.
Monstera Nails and Spa
Located in the heart of St Kilda’s thriving Fitzroy Street hub, Monstera Nails and Spa is the perfect place to pamper yourself. Revitalise your nails, spruce up your eyebrows and lashes, or even treat yourself to a spray tan with their highly experienced beauticians. They provide a 100% satisfactory service at an affordable rate, using safe and clean regulations.
If jam-packed nail bars and questionable hygiene practices give you the heebiejeebies, head upstairs to Miss Fox in the CBD for an ultra-feminine salon experience that caters to some of Melbourne’s coolest girls. Their manicures are a work of art, with bespoke nail art to suit any mood or occasion.
The talented technicians at Salome focus on providing a non-toxic manicure, using only a selection of vegan, cruelty-free polishes from Kester Black. Choose from regular or gel polish, acrylics, shellac and SNS for a long-lasting and budget-friendly mani/pedi.

The Ritual
20/4/18 (420)
At Melb Uni, facing the monsters with a smile.
Here I commemorate your (our) funeral. We’ve died as a union. My last bit of hope has to be released. Today I do that. Today I be strong. Today I release you from my mind. Goodbye.
This is my ritual. I am grateful for what was, now I move forward, alone, introspectively, yet balanced. Erykah Badu - Incense, plays as if meant to be, to provide the ritual energy to the moment. Synchronicities, auspicious signs from the universe? One Would hope.
21/4/18
During the ritual I pictured us as a person, representing our union, our one heart we created. It was dying, bleeding out, struggling to beat, and breathe. I killed it, put it out of it’s misery. A final dagger thrust, a final relinquishing of hope. Incense was burning, smoke billowing upward. I could see the body and the smoke from a birds-eye view. Melb Uni, a beautiful, old, memory filled place. A space we began, and have now ended. It was the ceremony ground, it was the right space, the right energy. My heart is calm today. Today another chapter in my journey begins. Her, our energy, it recedes, unclenching, releasing, letting go.

does anyone know if there’s any truth to this rumour? papa said that the reason they were late was bc the set took ages. after the show I asked richie abt it and he said they usually start set up at 7am but they started at 1pm so they were super pressed for time.
also, when they said that the set list was longer that’s untrue- the swap faith and pinnacle atm depending on the show
