Randomly imagined an "Across the Sonicverse" while thinking of "Start A Band" with the ending scene being Sonic in the wrong universe, tied up, like in the movie, however Neo Metal Sonic steps up

But instead of a helmet opening, it melts away into the figure, revealing Sonic's face and it says

???: I'm Sonic the Hedgehog. But you... You can call me Metal Madness.

Sonic: If I don't get home... Tails will-

Sonic (?): Your Tails.

I imagine this alternate Tails is in the back watching everything.

And this is how I come up with an au where Sonic the Hedgehog has always been a helpful little robot saving the day from its creator Dr Eggman, who still considers him his greatest creation, and maybe he gets a bit edgier with time

Before he could make expressions, he would sharpie a smile onto his metal mouth to look less intimidating.

Tails got into engineering and mechanics to help his big robot sibling recover after a scuffle.

I imagine all instances of Metal Sonic appearing in canon are replaced with Mecha Sonic, with plot changed accordingly, so all those plots are now sibling vs sibling

This Sonic definitely would have a Neo Metal Sonic arc, where he gets the ability to copy bio-data and it's very confusing and conflicting. (Temporary villain maybe?)

Metal Virus goes totally different, for sure

Anon that sent in the Metal Hero AU here:

I can’t exactly draw metal sonic, so I’ll do my best to describe the designs.

Pre-meeting tails:

-take the classic metal design from sonic generations and add pieces of scrape metal to them, like a random piece of red metal put on their head, or a piece of yellow or light blue metal of their arms or legs. The scrap metal is in small amounts on them, since they do their best to not lose any of their original parts. The scrap metal is usually just used to cover really deep cuts or big chipped parts.

After meeting tails:

-still the same, but done a bit better since it’s someone else who able to use both hands and look over metal entirely. Tails even paints over the scrap metal once he gets his hands on some paint that matches Metal’s colors.

Modern design:

-when it’s comes to Metal’s modern design, aka the one tails builds for them, I can imagine it looking like his canon design, since tails and them worked on the design together.

-Despite being originally designed by eggman, metal is used to their design and can’t really imagine themselves looking much different.

-So, in the end, tails makes Metal their current canon design, but reminds Metal that if they want anything changed in terms of design, he’s up for it.

-Metal keeps Tails’s words in mind, just in case.

Fun Fact:

-when Metal was transferred to their new permanent body, tails asked Metal what they wanted to do with their old body. Metal decided to just store it away for safe keeping. They spent a long time in their old body, they can’t bring themselves to just toss it like it’s nothing.

-Metal will occasionally go check up on their old body and clean it up a little, making sure that it doesn’t collect dust. Tails got their permission to do it for them occasionally if Metal can’t do it when they want to for whatever reason. Or if Metal leaves the workshop for a while.

-if both of them are gone from the workshop for a long while, then whoever goes back there first will dust off Metal’s old body. If they both head back, then Metal will just do it.

i love early metal being kinda patched up. it makes me think of a ragtag little kid full of scrapes and bandages who's inevitably going to get into even More trouble, though in this case i know it's more like them trying to be independent.

them getting to their modern design being a gradual process is so good. and i have to say i love the thought of a metal comfortable enough with their own identity that they take care of themself/their old frame. what a cozy little AU, i love it

In the final verse of the song Sonic Heroes, the main song for the game Sonic Heroes for the Gamecube, the singer states “Give Us a reason, and we’re on our way,” where “us” refers to sonic tails and knuckles. From this we can assume that it means that if given a reason, the Sonic Heroes will come to help the situation. We also see that, from the game Shadow The Hedgehog for the Gamecube, the President of the United states will reach out to sonic and others in times of great crises, requesting their aid. From footage and recollections of the incident on 9/11 in New York, Sonic and his Pals were not present, helping with the destruction. question how would the infected react to the shadow androids from Sonic hero’s and shadow the hedgehog i images them as robots with flesh on the outside as we know that they have some robot in them as omega can tell their a egg man robot but it is never said from what I know

Thank you for the question! And to answer it, they'd likely be percieved like other robots by the infected because of an important key factor: blood. If there is no blood or bodily organs to decompose into suitable pockets to incubate the virus, then there's nothing to target. They'd be see as part of the crowd.

Also, this image:

Shadow androids are purely robotic, not fleshy. They could have synthetic skin and parts like the real Shadow, which may cause the infected to spare a glance, but they're still robots. There's no warmth, no scent, no blood; not suitable to receive the virus.

Okay so my "Metal Sonic is the hero" AU had me thinking of something.

Replace any time Sonic goes Super to fight the bad guy with her friends giving her their bio-data to transform in a team hand stack (with chaos emeralds of course).

Like, Metal Sonic as the protagonist has such a golden opportunity for actual, real Power of Friendship

Any time she flies in to "singlehandedly" beat the bad guy, it's all of them together.

Trying to imagine "good guy" versions of Metal Overlord and Metal Madness is... Weird.

Metal Hero AU (Note: AU is a work in progress, so things may change and the things listed aren’t super in depth.)

AU where metal sonic defects from eggman in the really early days, and becomes the hero that the flickies and other little animals need.

-since sonic doesn’t exist in this AU, metal takes on his role. Because of this, they’re the one to meet tails and help him. Tails was a bit confused at first, but was still curious about Metal and greatly appreciated their help.

-metal is a bit banged up for a while due to having to repair themselves and not having the resources that eggman has. But whenever they can, they take metal from destroyed badniks.

-when tails eventually gets good with robotics and tech, he assigns himself as Metal’s mechanic. Metal can’t talk, but does appreciate it.

-this Au’s tails is still confident in himself, but doesn’t have cannon sonic’s sass or traits.

-he’s the one who eventually ends up making Metal’s modern design and transfers them to their new body.

-tails gave metal the ability to talk when he made their new body, but metal doesn’t use it a lot since they’re used to being quiet.

-he also took the time to get rid of any programs and protocols that Metal didn’t want.

-despite Metal being a robot, Tails still considers them his big brother. Metal may not express it too much, but they do see tails as a little brother.

-Metal is still serious and a bit intimidating, but they wouldn’t hurt anyone they care about.

-speaking of that, Metal and Amy are just friends in this AU. Knuckles was unsure of Metal at first, but eventually warmed up a them a little. Metal and Omega occasionally meet and catch up. Shadow and Metal are a little tense for a bit, but eventually get to know each other a bit more over time. They can both relate to the fact that they have to do with eggman in some way.

this metal sounds like such a delight. serious and intimidating but ultimately still kind is one of my favorite character types, all the better that they're still pretty quiet. and the thought of them surrounded by flickies is so cute. if you have a design for metal pre-modern-upgrades, i would so so love to see it, or if you have a different design for them in general!!

and i LOVE when little butterfly effect things show up in characters' demeanor, so tails lacking the sonic-like traits he'd have otherwise picked up from him is so good. i wonder so much about how metal feels about or navigates life without eggman now too.
