When I hear hardcore Bakugo Stans try to defend their favorite wonderboy and try to justify his behavior, I’m insulted. Everything that could’ve helped redeem or at least humanize Bakugo like learning humility or finding out that there’s more to life than just winning is thrown out the window. The creator is clearly trying to paint his favorite character as some kind of saint but forgot to write him as being likable and or someone who is learning and taking accountability from theirs mistakes. According to the story, we’re supposed to automatically accept this development because some characters say so and because they paint it as not only a good thing but also something inspirational.
Fans like to say that during the Deku vs class 1A fight, that Bakugo was being genuine and was being speaking the truth about Deku situation. Maybe he was trying to be genuine with trying to not only apologize but to help him. But the fact that he starts off by shiting all over him with unnecessary insults and calling him an all might wannabe doesn’t help grow his supposed development. And of course Horikoshi paints this as a good by having Class 1A accept this behavior and paint him as being reasonable; while at same time Bakugo is giving his half ass apology.
What if Deku just found out that his own mother was killed by AFO and he starts having a mental breakdown and goes crazy(Similar to when he saw Bakugo’s corpse)? Is Bakugo gonna come in a shit on him for being a failure and continues to call him an All Might wannabe and somehow Deku will instantly calm down? Will Class 1A see this as a good thing and call Bakugo a saint who speaks the truth? Would All Might and Aizawa not have a problem with this and just say that Izuku is grateful to have him as a friend?

//MHA VL. 34 - 36 SPOILERS//
I just recently got back into My Hero again after, like, idk, 2 to 3 years after my hyperfixation ended?? (I still kept up to date but wasn't as into it) I binge read volumes 34 to 36 in less than 24 hours and . . . WTF!?
I was already spoiled about Aoyama being the UA traitor so it didn't hurt as bad but I still felt so upset for my precious flamboyant baby. 😭
THEN
When I got to volume 36, I was like "huh, since Midoriya was warped to the wrong place wouldn't it be funny if Bakugo just straight up died before he could get there? Haha . . ."
. . .
I hate myself.🥲
WHY HORIKOSHI!?!!??! WHY DID THE VOLUME HAVE TO END LIKE THAT!?!? THAT CLIFFHANGER WAS AN ATTACK ON MY HEART!!
It was one thing to see THAT panel of Bakugou on my phone, it's an entirely different thing to actually read it happening and see the looks on everyone else's face once they realize what just happened.
I. Am. Sobbing.

BNHA : No you see, its all the family fault that Touya turned out that way cause they didn't stop them or said anything!!
Me: WHAT COULD THEY HAVE DONE?!? Fuyumi and Natsuo where CHILDREN at the time, even if they had told their brother to "stop it" What makes you think he would have listen to them if he was that far gone, also it is not their job to look after their brother that is for the parents to do, you shouldn't put that burden on a child! Also, maybe the reason that Fuyumi and Natsuo didn't tell another adult about what was going on in their family because again they're CHILDREN but maybe they where scared of their father, they saw what happened to their mother when she "failed" to stop their bother and think that would happened to them on top of that what makes you think they would have been believed or taken seriously the first time they would have told someone because AGAIN they are children and that's not even getting into how much money and power Enji has considering he's a hero and with all the BLATANT hero worshiping that goes on in this universe, I'm pretty sure it would have been impossible.
BNHA: Yeah, well, Rei could have-
Me: REI. IS A. VICTIM. It is shown plan as day, from the beginning that she came from a poor family that pretty much sold her off and with the new information they would have paired her off with a cousin to "keep the bloodline pure" or some shit, their marriage wasn't even based on love, it was an agreement more then anything, she was trying to survive and this seemed like the best option for her, SHE HAD NO OTHER CHOICES! Yes she agreed to have more kids with Enji but I ask you, did she even really had the power to say no? She was just meant to be a house wife and take care of the kids and the moment where she "failed" like when she tried to stop Touya she got punished for it, WHAT COULD SHE HAVE DONE?! Run away? Did you want her to leave the kids? Runaway with the kids? Do you HONESTLY think Enji wouldn't have tried to track her down or spun the narrative around to make it seem like Rei was crazy and brain washed the kids? Let's not even go get into how women are already not believed in these kind of situations, on top of all that, she was poor, she had no money and no power, nowhere near as much Enji has, where it be his size, his quirk, the fact that he is a man and a man that as seen as a hero to the public eye, her words would mean NOTHING! When Rei finally snapped and hurt her child Shoto, not only did she quickly realized what she did and tried using her quirk to cool him off, but the very moment she did that, they sent her away to the mental hospital no questions asked! They kept her there for 10 YEARS pretty much, meanwhile Enji, who was the one harshly training Shoto got to stay with the kids, and to add on to it Shoto, even at age 5, didn't even blame his mom for it, he clearly understood with was his dad.
BNHA:.....
Me: YEAH, maybe next time THINK before you handle topics like this.

Honestly if bkdk doesn’t become even close to them being like duo partners, or like just being very close friends in the end, imma be so confused.
Like how will they explain the whole chasing thing, the constant keep your eyes on me, are you gonna be able catch up to me cuz I’m going ahead to the “can I ever catch up to you Izuku?”
Or the childish nickname that Bakugo doesn’t tell him to stop using, sharing OFA secret only to him bc Midoriya couldn’t stand the idea that Bakugo thought he was lying to him
Midoriya going savage after Bakugo getting hurt, to Bakugo waking up in the hospital and he is fighting to go see his childhood friend.
To the I know him better then anyone else.
Taking the AllMight card they got as kids together to war and thinking about it before he died!?? Reaching out to him, calling him by his name and ending up in the vestige world…
Like how are these not romantic? Honestly, Hori could’ve easily made Ochako be part of all of these tropes, as the love interest she could’ve had at least been the one to know OFA secret, or even a moment where they stranded somewhere or in a mission to defeat a villain.
I guess that’s where mangaka don’t know how to write female protagonist, but if Midoriya and Ochako do become canon, they had a lot of space to have almost similar plot but instead of Bakugo it could’ve been Ochako.
She is a smart with a powerful quirk, and if she is endgame then I will have to agree with the statement that Hori doesn’t know how to write female characters. But that’s only if Midoriya and her become canon, cuz there was soo much potential to give her more character development, instead of giving it to Bakugo.
Bakugo is one of my favorite characters tho, and it’s fascinating to see the relationship he already has with other characters.
The position for best friend is already given to Kirishima. He was in the hospital when Midoriya wakes up after Bakugo got kidnapped, and states that this must be harder on Midoriya than it is to him, which is why he wants to go looking for him. Best friend is asking the closest person to join him to save Bakugo.
His true rival is Todoroki, they are always in equal footing, from the beginning with their developing ideas of what is hero, to them failing the exams, all the way to the war.
Bakugo is the only one with no love interest, which is okay honestly and technically doesn’t have to mean anything, but how are you gonna counter the idea that he is obsessed with Midoriya.
I know MHA is not gonna end with a bkdk kiss, or like them pronouncing their love for each other bc this disgusting world is still very homophobic. But I want them to at least be the first people to they see when they wake up from the hospital or something. Probably like a Mustang and Hawkeye relationship, not official but obviously something.
¯\ _(ツ)_/¯ but I don’t know, this is just me ranting. If anyone wants to talk about MHA with me pls message me. I have bkdk brain rot but I’m not close minded, I love all of the characters. And I know how people talk about Hiro rushing the manga, but he is doing it at the same pace as always. For example from the very start you have Midoriya getting OFA and it’s just like a montage of him working out, not much of a full arc of him training. And it’s a lot of character growth. The important ones have the scream time and other have crumbs but it’s enough for me to understand the dynamic.
Hiro doesn’t hold hands with his writing. So if he is just writing a very close friendship with these guys and not make it anything else then I been played. Bc they have examples of caring friends around them, like Todoroki, Iida, Kirishima and Ochako. Almost everyone at 1A are fighting for each others smiles, but none of them go to the extent of the wonder duo!
Even Aizawa states that when both of them are involve, they change the dynamic in the class. They inspire others to try harder and have this thing about them that even All Might admires about both of them.
Ughh well anyone wants to rant with me pls message me, I need friends that want to talk about anime

The one thing that many people within the My Hero Academia fandom forgets about Toga is what her crimes originally was in the beginning of the series...
Tumblr media
Occurring to an interview that Horikoshi did the numbers were in-between 13-25 people that Toga killed.
But there is also a number on a wiki page for her saying it was 6.
But her main problem at the end of the series is that she doesn't want to get caught. Look the saying is; you do the crime you do the time.
Which is the main problem. Her story was not handled well and has so many problems. Especially when in the end she chose the easy way out instead of facing the consequences...

How many people are actually quirkless in My Hero Academia?
We know that roughly 80% of the population had quirks, as stated by All Might in one of the episodes. Leaving 20% of the population without them. Now, 20% might not seem like a lot of people until you put the numbers in your calculator and see just how big the number actually is.
Going off the current population number of 8 billion, 80% of that number would be 6,400,000,000 (six billion four hundred million). Six hundred billion, four hundred MILLION people with super human abilities spread out between 7 different continents!
That's roughly 914,285,714.28571(nine hundred fourteen million two hundred eighty-five thousand seven hundred fourteen point twenty-eight thousand five hundred seventy-one hundred-thousandths) people in each continent with a quirk!!
Leaving, 1,600,000,000 (one billion six hundred million) people without quirks! If spread out evenly between continents, that would leave roughly 228,571,428.57143 (two hundred twenty-eight million five hundred seventy-one thousand four hundred twenty-eight point fifty-seven-thousand one hundred forty-three hundred-thousandths) people in each continent!
Divided up by 195 countries, that's 8,205,128.2051282 (eight million two hundred five thousand one hundred twenty-eight point two million fifty-one thousand two hundred eighty-two ten-millionths) quirkless people in each country, if divided up evenly.
Given the current population of Japan being 123,207,079 (one hundred twenty-three million two hundred seven thousand seventy-nine), the number of quirkless people living in Japan should be a fairly good amount.
Of course, sense Mha takes place in an alternate universe, and in the future, the population is probably a lot bigger, meaning there would be an even bigger number of both people with quirks and people without them.
So basically, what I'm trying to say is, with such a large number of people being quirkless in the world, why do so many people hold disdain towards them?

I wanted to rant about how horrible momo's costume is, so I'm going to.
Momos hero costume design makes zero sense as it is. It's basically only like that for fanservice.
First of all, her back isn't even showing. A large area of skin that can be used to create larger objects. A good place to have exposed considering her quirk, and yet it isn't.
Her boobs showing make no sense! She doesn't need to create things from RIGHT in-between her boobs, she can create things from her upper-chest. No boob window is needed.
Not to mention: Shorts! She could've had shorts! The leotard isn't necessary. She doesn't pull things out of her hips, does she? It'd be her thighs she was using if anything. It wouldn't be her hips. So I think shorts that went to about mid-thigh would be perfect.
She also has no protection. Zero, none. She's a hero, she NEEDS protection. Yet, she doesn't even have elbow & knee pads? You want her knees and elbows to get all scratched up? Cause she's bound to fall a good amount of times as a hero. Especially considering those ridiculous heels she wears.
Heels! Why is she wearing HEELS? It'd be so easy just to give her combat boots that'd be easy to run & walk in. Considering, idk, she's a hero and not a runway model.
Also, I hear a lot of people recommend zippers, but heres my idea; Velcro! Velcro has no chance of getting stuck like a zipper does. And i feel like she could put it on places like her stomach and such so she's more protected but can still access skin when she needs to.

Random rant here, but anyway -
You know how in MHA genderbend fics they give Izuku Midoriya a different name, usually Izumi or something? I loathe that.
Why? Well, you know how he's the ninth user of One for All? The ku in his name is nine. Each of the One for All wielders has their number somewhere in their name.
But enter any genderbend fic? Goodbye number! I have yet to find a genderbend fic where they kept the ku in the name.
Another note that fic users should use sometime: when the OFA users call Izuku Nine they're probably calling him Ku, which is adorable as all get out.

Spoilers for the latest episodes of MHA s6
I love Shoto. Shoto is my boy. My child. He was my favorite when I watched this anime for the first time. I want only the best for this kid. I hope he grows into a great pro one day. but can I just say I fucking HATE that Rei called him the hero of the family? That statement irked me on so many levels. First of all, may I remind everyone that he is a CHILD. He’s literally 16 years old at most. His family, his brother is not his responsibility. He’s a victim to this situation so he should not be expected or even asked to pick up the pieces of this family. Dabi has beef with Endeavor. This is not Shoto’s problem. Sure, calling him “the hero of the family” in of itself is praise, but it’s also a burden and a responsibility that he does not need.
secondly, this is so invalidating to the efforts and struggles of his other siblings. Shoto may be one of the more visibly “successful” but he is by no means the hero of the family. he’s tried his best to grow, move on, but so have Natsuo and Fuyumi. They all have. But HES the hero? That’s so unfair. Fuyumi needs more credit! She’s tried to keep the family together, even if it’s only in appearance, she tried. And when Natsuo lost his direction in life because of Touya’s death, she told him (her exact words) “leave our family circumstances to me and go do what you want to pursue”. Even when they were kids she was shown worrying over both her brothers. Natsuo supported Touya with everything he had up until he lost him, and has tried his best to cope and move forward since. He even wants to reconcile with Shoto.
Shoto is not the family hero and Horikoshi is so wrong for this

An izuocha shipper said this about us:
Bkdks are just so transparent and easy to read. The people who rant now and want "justice for iida" are the VERY SAME people who always call him irrelevant to the story, boring, annoying, talk down his friendship with izuku and still havent forgiven him being rude ONCE to izuku in the very beginning of the manga before he and izuku even were friends (ohhhhh but anti bakugou people have to forgive bakugou ABUSING izuku for 12 YEARS, right?) and unlike bakugou didnt need over a century to apologiez! Lets be real, there is maybe just 1% of bkdk shippers who are really mad that it wasnt iida. For the majority thats not what the real problem is. They arent mad, because iida was "swaped" with ochako in the opening, they are mad because it was ochako and NOT bakugou! NOT ONE OF THEM would complain if instead of ochako reaching her hand out for izuku, if it would have been bakugou! Despite that there is no such moment in the manga between them! Its all about their shipping agenda. The anime can be as inaccurate as possible, bkdks dont care as long as bones highlights izukus and bakugous relationship even if its not manga canon.
What do think about this? I would like to know your opinion.
I mean, maybe, some of us just wanted Bakugou, personally, not me. I am mad about it, tho, because Bones pushed THEIR shipping agenda making it seem like Ochako was the only one saving him.
We weren't mad when the manga chapter dropped and it was Iida who brought him back to have the talk, were we?
We weren't mad when Uraraka convinced the citizens to let Izuku in UA, were we?
Also, while they made it seem like she saved Izuku on her own, Bakugou, who has half of the vigilante/class 1a vs Deku arc, had only 1 to 2 STILL shots, that was all. And of course, even if they made an intro starring IzuOcha, they won't be able to change the anime, unless they want to get bullied by the whole MHA community, but then, why lie to the people?
Ochako won't have any big scenes until the school ones, so, if this is Izuku's vigilante and Bakugou's redemption arc, why not have at least a few scenes similar to the manga?
Also, another thing, they didn't just swap Iida with Ochako, the also swapped Bakugou. In the manga, Bakugou finds Izuku, they have their little chat and then the fight and all that, but in the intro, the one who finds Izuku, is, again, Ochako.
I loved everything about the intro : the song, the animation, the colors, the setup with all the ruins and stuff, but when that part came it just threw me off.
Idk, again, it's not like they're going to change the arc and become like tpn s2, but still, I find it a bit shitty that they got IzuOchas hope up just to crush them later on, like it's not cool, even if some of them are shitty people, it's still kinda mean.
Anyway, hope you liked my response and I hope that it made sense!

Why does Ochaco like Bakugo?
Like actually. Why does she treat Bakugo friendly? Why does she say she thinks he’s cool? Why does she use the insult he gave her best friend, the name she was expressly told was an insult, as a nickname for said friend? Why does she have nothing negative to say to the guy who demeans, insults, and assaults her best friend on a constant basis?
Why do fans see this and immediately want her to cuck Izuku for Bakugo while he watches?
Questions like this make me slowly regret checking out the show and giving it a chance when I did more and more with each day. As well as a large assortment of other things that would take me hours to even get through half.

I was rewatching mha and there was that one scene where mineta is trying to peek in the girls locker room(already bad enough) but you can see the cut of Yaoyorozu’s leotard.
it is up to her hips. also it’s really thin and there’s no way you can run around without getting camel toe.
but it just pains me so much because it would be SO EASY to fix her costume. there’s a fuck ton of redesigns out there(I’ve done one too), but even if you don’t want to split it into a sports bra and shorts, you could just make the front(and back preferably but mainly the front) zippable so she isn’t running around tits out, and have it be one of those leotards that’s got built in shorts.
so fucking easy. but NOOOOOOOO
I hate that I like this show.

!-MHA SPOILERS-!
First off, I know some people don’t ship bkdk as romantic. But hear me out.
There is TOO MUCH SHIT that’s just- it’s impossible for me to not see it!! I swear!!! Uraraka x Deku isn’t going to happen. I can tell you why! How much have we seen of Uraraka and Deku? How many instances are they fighting side by side? How many times are they causing trouble together? Barely any!! Katsuki is always there causing trouble right by Izuku’s side.
Katsuki and Izuku fight side by side, argue like a married couple, have known each other since forever, and even have a special relationship with nicknames!! Kacchan? No one else gets to call him that! When Denki tries, Kat gets mad. And honestly? I feel like when Uraraka started calling Izuku Deku and then he chose it as his hero name, I think Katsuki was pissed. Like- “uh- no. I gave you that! That’s my name for you!!”
I also believe part of the rivalry with Uraraka and Katsuki is love rivalry. I truly believe during their fight at the sports festival they were also slightly fighting over Izuku.
But when Uraraka figures out that Deku needs to focus, I appreciated that. She backed off and put her feelings aside for the better. But in a lot of anime, usually, if there’s a love interest, they’re featured in most episodes with a strong role. In the movies, Uraraka was there, but not a strong role. Katsuki is almost every event is a strong role.
I really feel the two main characters are Deku and Katsuki. Not Deku and Uraraka. Yes, we had confirmation that Uraraka likes Deku. But we’ve seen nothing about Deku liking her.
“But he blushes when Uraraka is in his face!”
Uh, yeah. He’s never hung out with girls before. He said that. So he doesn’t know what to do and gets embarrassed easily, even with the guys. He’s just an anxious ball of green fluff.
But Katsuki has been a huge part of Izuku’s life and vice versa. They literally grew based on each other. Katsuki eventually learning to let himself be saved thanks to Izuku. Izuku learning to stand up from himself and make himself stronger from Katsuki. They literally use each other to reach the top in such a perfect way.
In the beginning of the story, it was clear that their relationship was not healthy, correct. However, Katsuki apologized and explained himself during the vigilante arc and admitted to All Might that he was helping train Izuku as a form of making up for his past mistakes. A way to apologize.
If you look at even the basic dynamics of an anime with love interests, you see that Katsuki is the one that is most viewed besides Izuku. And usually, the two main characters are love interests.
My dad actually told me it couldn’t work because the childhood friend never wins, which, I laughed my ass off, so did he. But every way I see it, if there is going to be romance in this, it’s going to be bkdk.
Plus, you can find a BUNCH of hints in actual texts and translations. Such as Edgeshot using “he” as in “boyfriend”. Which, if you don’t know, Japanese people don’t usually use pronouns. They say their name if they can. They could have done “Deku is coming back” but instead they say it as if calling Deku Katsuki’s boyfriend.
So is this really a question by this point? The main characters are Izuku and Katsuki. In a romance anime, the two main characters are the love interests. Whether it turns out to be romantic or not, I guarantee you. There is just too much proof of bkdk being the main thing.
There’s no convincing me otherwise.
They better hold fucking hands at least.
A kiss on the cheek or something at most like- c’mon.

We’re going to talk about Toga’s end arc and why I personal dislike her character and arc all together in My Hero Academia.
Her Arc started going sourer the moment Twice died when she said she began to ask herself why did the heroes kill Jin and was he not a person in their eyes. In all honest this is when the worst part of her storyline started. Keep in mind Toga has killed people and never seemed to once think about or show herself feeling guilty over killing people herself, but when Twice dies the heroes apparent go over the line. What is this Bullshit?
Toga has killed over several people before the series even starts and she started wondering when do heroes drawl the line in killing…when she should be asking herself where her and the league of villains drawl the line as well. Because of course heroes will try to kill you if you are trying to kill them right back you.
Keep in mind when Toga does to ask Uraraka the question about what happened to Twice will happened to hero. Toga somehow got blood from an old lady and Uraraka clearly stated that Toga killed an old woman just to come talk to her.  Toga, killed in innocent old lady, just to get her blood and shows on guilt or remorse within the chapter or in future chapters.
Uraraka actual gives Toga an honest answer about what would happen to Toga. She would go to jail and have to face consequences for her actions…which Toga didn’t like the answer too. What else would you expect if you go around killing people, regardless of having a Quirk that makes you want to drink blood.
Then we get into the Final War Arc, where everyone in My Hero Academia wants to save the mass murders all because of sad backstories.
Uraraka, regardless of calling Toga crazy to Izuku, actually wants to help Toga, or at least understand. (It feels weird that this understanding and wanting to know what if going on with Toga happened all off screen…plus, with barely any idea how to do it.) But Uraraka decides to redeemed Toga at the worst time possible and put many heroes lives in danger.
The moment Toga made Clear that she didn’t what to Uraraka or even listen to her anymore should’ve been a hunt that she was done playing around. Only…Uraraka didn’t take the hint and Toga used twice’s blood to make twice clones to attack everyone.
Here s the problem…whenever anyone goings to redeem a villain you don’t have other people get hurt around you.
For Example-Luke left alone on Endor to confront Vader and the Emperor, but at least, none of his friends or people that he carried about, came with him and could’ve been endanger as well…this is smart because Luke would be the only one ending up hurt or dead if he did end up failing.
While Uraraka decides to endanger everyone with heroes getting hurt by mountains of waves of Twice Clones because she wants to talk to Toga. This is the point in everyone’s mind (at least the sane people’s minds) where you should deal with the threat of people getting hurt from the Clones First before redeeming Toga. (So, even if you did have to kill Toga…it would’ve saved and prevented harm to all those heroes that do end up getting hurt.)
Now Toga redemption…it’s cheap…and you shouldn’t really be feeling sorrow over her death.
Because keep in mind everything is being recorded and showed on the internet. Keep in mind Toga has killed people and any of the victim’s families that saw this redemption would not have wanted to see it or care about it because Toga called someone that they loved-and a hero calling Toga cute is just a slap in the face to everyone that Toga ever harmed.
It’s like saying you should forgive a murder-or Serial Killer- for killing your loved one. All because killer had a hard life and was mistreated.
Keep in mind Toga is basically this person within the manga. Your supposed to forgive them because their Quirk forced them to be drawl to blood…keep in mind she didn’t have to kill her victim…only take some or transform into her victim again to give them back blood (which she later on did for Uraraka at the end of chapter 395) without letting all her victims bleed to death.
Toga doesn’t show sorrow or anything on her face when she beginnings attack about the people that she killed. She even quotes; I want to live as Himiko Toga and do whatever I want. (It’s clear she didn’t want to face anything that she ever done or serve time in jail.)
The same can be said when she openly admitted to Uraraka that they league also wanted to destroy everything and Toga was all for it. All for killing innocent people. Plus, Toga didn’t want to go to jail afterwards.
The main problem with Toga’s arc near the end is that the theme is that Quirk society and how it’s ran is to blame, but people tend to forget that Toga did all those things willing. She drank blood and her parents can’t be blamed for it. How does a parent tell their child they can’t drink blood of those that they love?  They can’t.
Overall, Toga was a threat to people within the society and in the end, she was always going to die…regardless of how it happened.

Okay hold up
Everyone's saying Endeavor is a terrible father he ignored his kids and abused Shouto and Rei and all that
And they are right
But hold on
First I'd like to say that I do not sanction his behavior and I acknowledge that it was wrong. However, he had reasons other than just wanting Shouto to be the #1 hero.
Everything he did, he did for Touya. Touya's training seemed to be less harsh than Shouto's, or at least he enjoyed it more. He wanted to train. He wanted to be the #1 hero, because then his father would be proud of him. Endeavor was already proud of him. Touya was the destined heir. They had Fuyumi to be Touya's companion. Originally, there were only going to be two.
But then Touya's Quirk started hurting him. Endeavor stopped training him and started trying for a new heir so his son wouldn't have to hurt himself. He didn't go about it in the right way, but the entire reason Natsuo and Shouto exist is because Endeavor wanted to keep his eldest son from hurting himself.
Did Touya listen? No. He practiced in secret. He felt rejected because his father was ignoring him now in favor of some better heir, a child with the Quirk he'd been trying for all along. He felt like he was just a detour on the way to Shouto. He was no longer standing in the spotlight, and he needed to be there so badly. So he trained. And he got hurt. And he vented at his father. He yelled and accused him, while deep down he really just wanted that adoration back.
Endeavor refused to acknowledge him, thinking he would give up. He treated Shouto and Rei like he did because he had all this pent-up frustration at the growing divide between him and his favorite son. Why do I say favorite? Because Natsuo is really just an extra and Shouto is more of a means to achieve something than an actual person. The way he smiled at Touya in episode 130, you could really tell he loved him.
They could have sat down and talked it out. They could have come to a compromise. But both were far too stubborn and both vented in unhealthy ways (taking it out on others or themselves) and Endeavor's attempt to keep his son safe backfired dramatically.
The Todoroki family is not messed up because of Endeavor. It is messed up because of Endeavor and Touya. Both have equal blame, yet Endeavor seems to be the only one who ever gets flack for it. Dabi may have played the victim, but he's also a perpetrator. Their refusal to come to a compromise about Touya's future resulted in hell for poor Rei, Shouto, Fuyumi, and Natsuo.
Endeavor had pure motivations. He just did it wrong and was too proud to admit he made a mistake.
Touya had a burning desire he didn't know what to do with and refused to listen or communicate calmly.
Both were wrong, and both deserve blame. So stop heaping everything on Endeavor, because Dabi deserves some too.
You know the sad thing about this? It probably all could've been fixed with a couple of calm conversations in a therapist's office.
If you don't believe me, maybe you should rewatch episode 130 of the anime.
Edit: Manga chapters are 291, 301, 302
