I find it so funny when ppl say Kirishima is the ‘Bakugou Whisperer’ because I’m sorry, who grew up with him and made it his life mission to know everything about Bakugou?
Also, Deku would quite literally tackle Kirishima to get to Bakugou before Kiri did if Bakugou was upset, Deku is unhinged and obsessed

BNHA : No you see, its all the family fault that Touya turned out that way cause they didn't stop them or said anything!!
Me: WHAT COULD THEY HAVE DONE?!? Fuyumi and Natsuo where CHILDREN at the time, even if they had told their brother to "stop it" What makes you think he would have listen to them if he was that far gone, also it is not their job to look after their brother that is for the parents to do, you shouldn't put that burden on a child! Also, maybe the reason that Fuyumi and Natsuo didn't tell another adult about what was going on in their family because again they're CHILDREN but maybe they where scared of their father, they saw what happened to their mother when she "failed" to stop their bother and think that would happened to them on top of that what makes you think they would have been believed or taken seriously the first time they would have told someone because AGAIN they are children and that's not even getting into how much money and power Enji has considering he's a hero and with all the BLATANT hero worshiping that goes on in this universe, I'm pretty sure it would have been impossible.
BNHA: Yeah, well, Rei could have-
Me: REI. IS A. VICTIM. It is shown plan as day, from the beginning that she came from a poor family that pretty much sold her off and with the new information they would have paired her off with a cousin to "keep the bloodline pure" or some shit, their marriage wasn't even based on love, it was an agreement more then anything, she was trying to survive and this seemed like the best option for her, SHE HAD NO OTHER CHOICES! Yes she agreed to have more kids with Enji but I ask you, did she even really had the power to say no? She was just meant to be a house wife and take care of the kids and the moment where she "failed" like when she tried to stop Touya she got punished for it, WHAT COULD SHE HAVE DONE?! Run away? Did you want her to leave the kids? Runaway with the kids? Do you HONESTLY think Enji wouldn't have tried to track her down or spun the narrative around to make it seem like Rei was crazy and brain washed the kids? Let's not even go get into how women are already not believed in these kind of situations, on top of all that, she was poor, she had no money and no power, nowhere near as much Enji has, where it be his size, his quirk, the fact that he is a man and a man that as seen as a hero to the public eye, her words would mean NOTHING! When Rei finally snapped and hurt her child Shoto, not only did she quickly realized what she did and tried using her quirk to cool him off, but the very moment she did that, they sent her away to the mental hospital no questions asked! They kept her there for 10 YEARS pretty much, meanwhile Enji, who was the one harshly training Shoto got to stay with the kids, and to add on to it Shoto, even at age 5, didn't even blame his mom for it, he clearly understood with was his dad.
BNHA:.....
Me: YEAH, maybe next time THINK before you handle topics like this.

Idk why but I feel that this scene is so underappreciated that I barely see anyone talking about it. Like, this is the first time I've seen Bakugou talked so much in a situation, and he's really analyzing and reacting to things as fast as he can. To the point that on my first read I had to do a double take to recognize it -- that huge wall of texts in the 1st panel!👀
And people said Bakugou's muttering in the latest chapter is sudden. I bet he has always been like that, aware of his surroundings and calculating the best route of action. And if he mutters, it must meant that the situation was really dire that there's no time to involve others into it.
Bakugou's always analytic on the inside. He's always like Deku, and we only see that side of him when he literally loses control of the situation.

How many people are actually quirkless in My Hero Academia?
We know that roughly 80% of the population had quirks, as stated by All Might in one of the episodes. Leaving 20% of the population without them. Now, 20% might not seem like a lot of people until you put the numbers in your calculator and see just how big the number actually is.
Going off the current population number of 8 billion, 80% of that number would be 6,400,000,000 (six billion four hundred million). Six hundred billion, four hundred MILLION people with super human abilities spread out between 7 different continents!
That's roughly 914,285,714.28571(nine hundred fourteen million two hundred eighty-five thousand seven hundred fourteen point twenty-eight thousand five hundred seventy-one hundred-thousandths) people in each continent with a quirk!!
Leaving, 1,600,000,000 (one billion six hundred million) people without quirks! If spread out evenly between continents, that would leave roughly 228,571,428.57143 (two hundred twenty-eight million five hundred seventy-one thousand four hundred twenty-eight point fifty-seven-thousand one hundred forty-three hundred-thousandths) people in each continent!
Divided up by 195 countries, that's 8,205,128.2051282 (eight million two hundred five thousand one hundred twenty-eight point two million fifty-one thousand two hundred eighty-two ten-millionths) quirkless people in each country, if divided up evenly.
Given the current population of Japan being 123,207,079 (one hundred twenty-three million two hundred seven thousand seventy-nine), the number of quirkless people living in Japan should be a fairly good amount.
Of course, sense Mha takes place in an alternate universe, and in the future, the population is probably a lot bigger, meaning there would be an even bigger number of both people with quirks and people without them.
So basically, what I'm trying to say is, with such a large number of people being quirkless in the world, why do so many people hold disdain towards them?

I just want to specify, I don’t hate villains getting redeemed.
I hate though the easy, unearned, exponential power-up of Gentle, in a flashback. Making him solo that prison in that same arc where HK sidelined the entire Class A, not letting them have a single villain fight even though there were more than enough to go around.
And I especially hate fandom praising this as peak writing. The same dudebros who still want Shigaraki and Dabi to die, who still want Bakugou to be featless and humiliated, who still diss all the class a characters as useless pawns and yell foul whenever the kids get to do anything.
But when the loser middle-aged YouTuber with the under-age looking love interest suddenly gets an exponential and unexplained power-up, there is no problem with it. Because it’s another character they can project onto who gets rewarded immediately for doing one good thing.
I really hope these dudebros will keep their mouths shot when it’s gonna be the kids’ turn to shine.

Random rant here, but anyway -
You know how in MHA genderbend fics they give Izuku Midoriya a different name, usually Izumi or something? I loathe that.
Why? Well, you know how he's the ninth user of One for All? The ku in his name is nine. Each of the One for All wielders has their number somewhere in their name.
But enter any genderbend fic? Goodbye number! I have yet to find a genderbend fic where they kept the ku in the name.
Another note that fic users should use sometime: when the OFA users call Izuku Nine they're probably calling him Ku, which is adorable as all get out.

An izuocha shipper said this about us:
Bkdks are just so transparent and easy to read. The people who rant now and want "justice for iida" are the VERY SAME people who always call him irrelevant to the story, boring, annoying, talk down his friendship with izuku and still havent forgiven him being rude ONCE to izuku in the very beginning of the manga before he and izuku even were friends (ohhhhh but anti bakugou people have to forgive bakugou ABUSING izuku for 12 YEARS, right?) and unlike bakugou didnt need over a century to apologiez! Lets be real, there is maybe just 1% of bkdk shippers who are really mad that it wasnt iida. For the majority thats not what the real problem is. They arent mad, because iida was "swaped" with ochako in the opening, they are mad because it was ochako and NOT bakugou! NOT ONE OF THEM would complain if instead of ochako reaching her hand out for izuku, if it would have been bakugou! Despite that there is no such moment in the manga between them! Its all about their shipping agenda. The anime can be as inaccurate as possible, bkdks dont care as long as bones highlights izukus and bakugous relationship even if its not manga canon.
What do think about this? I would like to know your opinion.
I mean, maybe, some of us just wanted Bakugou, personally, not me. I am mad about it, tho, because Bones pushed THEIR shipping agenda making it seem like Ochako was the only one saving him.
We weren't mad when the manga chapter dropped and it was Iida who brought him back to have the talk, were we?
We weren't mad when Uraraka convinced the citizens to let Izuku in UA, were we?
Also, while they made it seem like she saved Izuku on her own, Bakugou, who has half of the vigilante/class 1a vs Deku arc, had only 1 to 2 STILL shots, that was all. And of course, even if they made an intro starring IzuOcha, they won't be able to change the anime, unless they want to get bullied by the whole MHA community, but then, why lie to the people?
Ochako won't have any big scenes until the school ones, so, if this is Izuku's vigilante and Bakugou's redemption arc, why not have at least a few scenes similar to the manga?
Also, another thing, they didn't just swap Iida with Ochako, the also swapped Bakugou. In the manga, Bakugou finds Izuku, they have their little chat and then the fight and all that, but in the intro, the one who finds Izuku, is, again, Ochako.
I loved everything about the intro : the song, the animation, the colors, the setup with all the ruins and stuff, but when that part came it just threw me off.
Idk, again, it's not like they're going to change the arc and become like tpn s2, but still, I find it a bit shitty that they got IzuOchas hope up just to crush them later on, like it's not cool, even if some of them are shitty people, it's still kinda mean.
Anyway, hope you liked my response and I hope that it made sense!

Why does Ochaco like Bakugo?
Like actually. Why does she treat Bakugo friendly? Why does she say she thinks he’s cool? Why does she use the insult he gave her best friend, the name she was expressly told was an insult, as a nickname for said friend? Why does she have nothing negative to say to the guy who demeans, insults, and assaults her best friend on a constant basis?
Why do fans see this and immediately want her to cuck Izuku for Bakugo while he watches?
Questions like this make me slowly regret checking out the show and giving it a chance when I did more and more with each day. As well as a large assortment of other things that would take me hours to even get through half.

I was rewatching mha and there was that one scene where mineta is trying to peek in the girls locker room(already bad enough) but you can see the cut of Yaoyorozu’s leotard.
it is up to her hips. also it’s really thin and there’s no way you can run around without getting camel toe.
but it just pains me so much because it would be SO EASY to fix her costume. there’s a fuck ton of redesigns out there(I’ve done one too), but even if you don’t want to split it into a sports bra and shorts, you could just make the front(and back preferably but mainly the front) zippable so she isn’t running around tits out, and have it be one of those leotards that’s got built in shorts.
so fucking easy. but NOOOOOOOO
I hate that I like this show.

!-MHA SPOILERS-!
First off, I know some people don’t ship bkdk as romantic. But hear me out.
There is TOO MUCH SHIT that’s just- it’s impossible for me to not see it!! I swear!!! Uraraka x Deku isn’t going to happen. I can tell you why! How much have we seen of Uraraka and Deku? How many instances are they fighting side by side? How many times are they causing trouble together? Barely any!! Katsuki is always there causing trouble right by Izuku’s side.
Katsuki and Izuku fight side by side, argue like a married couple, have known each other since forever, and even have a special relationship with nicknames!! Kacchan? No one else gets to call him that! When Denki tries, Kat gets mad. And honestly? I feel like when Uraraka started calling Izuku Deku and then he chose it as his hero name, I think Katsuki was pissed. Like- “uh- no. I gave you that! That’s my name for you!!”
I also believe part of the rivalry with Uraraka and Katsuki is love rivalry. I truly believe during their fight at the sports festival they were also slightly fighting over Izuku.
But when Uraraka figures out that Deku needs to focus, I appreciated that. She backed off and put her feelings aside for the better. But in a lot of anime, usually, if there’s a love interest, they’re featured in most episodes with a strong role. In the movies, Uraraka was there, but not a strong role. Katsuki is almost every event is a strong role.
I really feel the two main characters are Deku and Katsuki. Not Deku and Uraraka. Yes, we had confirmation that Uraraka likes Deku. But we’ve seen nothing about Deku liking her.
“But he blushes when Uraraka is in his face!”
Uh, yeah. He’s never hung out with girls before. He said that. So he doesn’t know what to do and gets embarrassed easily, even with the guys. He’s just an anxious ball of green fluff.
But Katsuki has been a huge part of Izuku’s life and vice versa. They literally grew based on each other. Katsuki eventually learning to let himself be saved thanks to Izuku. Izuku learning to stand up from himself and make himself stronger from Katsuki. They literally use each other to reach the top in such a perfect way.
In the beginning of the story, it was clear that their relationship was not healthy, correct. However, Katsuki apologized and explained himself during the vigilante arc and admitted to All Might that he was helping train Izuku as a form of making up for his past mistakes. A way to apologize.
If you look at even the basic dynamics of an anime with love interests, you see that Katsuki is the one that is most viewed besides Izuku. And usually, the two main characters are love interests.
My dad actually told me it couldn’t work because the childhood friend never wins, which, I laughed my ass off, so did he. But every way I see it, if there is going to be romance in this, it’s going to be bkdk.
Plus, you can find a BUNCH of hints in actual texts and translations. Such as Edgeshot using “he” as in “boyfriend”. Which, if you don’t know, Japanese people don’t usually use pronouns. They say their name if they can. They could have done “Deku is coming back” but instead they say it as if calling Deku Katsuki’s boyfriend.
So is this really a question by this point? The main characters are Izuku and Katsuki. In a romance anime, the two main characters are the love interests. Whether it turns out to be romantic or not, I guarantee you. There is just too much proof of bkdk being the main thing.
There’s no convincing me otherwise.
They better hold fucking hands at least.
A kiss on the cheek or something at most like- c’mon.

Another bnha rant!
I sometimes see ppl say that the reason there’s so much fanfiction for stories like bnha is because they’re just ok but have a lot of potential that’s being wasted so fan-creators step in. This is definitely the case for some fandoms, but for BNHA, I just don’t see it. Everyone has their opinions on how it could be better for them as a story, but I think everything is really well executed. This may just be because I like a lot of the stylistic devices used and the character arcs/development. For example, I’ve seen opinions on the first few chs. in regards to Deku receiving OfA. ‘Wouldn’t it be a better message if he could make it on his own despite everything?’ I disagree, that’s a very typical moral of the story. I think it’s more interesting to show that to succeed, help is needed. Also the way that each Todoroki child reacts to Endeavor’s abuse differently. Or the use of humor to purposefully tone down the seriousness of an action, making us readers react to something like Bakugo being chained up to the podium during the sports festival the same way all the bystanders did. Plus, there’s so many little details everywhere….. I can go on so many rants.
Anyways, I think BNHA is a masterpiece. The reason people want to create so much fanworks for it is because it has a lot of potential that would be impossible to tap into while still maintaining the pacing of the story. There are just too many characters, all of which are so well-written, to fit every detail into the plot. Horikoshi actually does a pretty impressive job in regards to how you can see character development in the background, in changes overtime with body language, who a character is standing next to… all of it. But that still doesn’t tell the whole story. So it’s really fun to make up stories based on these little points we can see, and there’s so many for us to grasp. Additionally. We are at the point in the manga where characters keep getting hurt with no comfort yet, so a lot of people like to read/write their characters being ok or having a life that wouldn’t bring them this much pain. Also, the characters are just cool, so people will want to see how they’d work in different AUs etc.

There was said interview, where HK said that jpn audience hated the villains and since villains started to gain more popularity, the manga popularity plummeted each year and rn SJ is rushing HK to end bnha. Villain stans got totally mad of course calling jpn fans dumb, weird, saying they have a terrible taste and that jpn only dislikes them bc of the culture since they don't like out of the norm ppl gaining popularity and don't like to see opressed ones trying to change the system
So what do you think abt that?
Warnings:
*Mentions of Terrorism
*Mentions of Serial Killing
*Bad Language
*Anti League of Villains
**Anti Himiko Toga
**Anti Dabi
**Twice Critical
*Victim Mentality
Basically, Villain Stans may want to skip this.
First, I kinda knew that HK is being rushed to finish the story, as you can feel it when you read it. I wasn’t aware of the reason though.
Now I am not Japanese and I have never met one personally, but I don’t meet many people (I don’t like them, see?) so I don’t know what they’re thinking. But I think it’s insulting that westerns—yeah, I know who the culprits are, sadly--are making such a gross generalization. But if any of the Eastern parts of the fandom--particularly the Japanese--want to weigh in, then by all means, please do.
Why does everyone assume people hate villains because they’re “out of the norm people?” Jack Sparrow is “out of the norm,” and he’s the most famous pirate in fiction! The Disney villains are all “out of the norm,” and people love them more than the heroes! (And note how most Disney fans aren’t trying to justify their actions either.) Dr. Stein from Soul Eater is “out of the norm,” and—you all get the point.
Why is it so hard to accept that people hate villains because they do VILLAINOUS things? Is it really so hard to believe that villains can be hated because they kill innocent people, steal, and cause harm without remorse? And is it really so unbelievable that not everyone is willing to wave aside their crimes just because of a sad backstory?
Have any of the Japanese fans actually said, “I don’t like this person because they’re different?” Or have they given other reasons that people are ignoring?
“Oppressed ones trying to change the system?” Bullshit. That's my opinion on that. The League of Villains was never oppressed! (At least by the hero society.) Oh, yeah, I’m fucking going there!
Tago is a freaking serial killer, who wants to be able to do whatever she wants without consequence. Even if the thing she wants to do is drink blood without consent or drink them dry.
Dabe just wants revenge on Endeavor and has killed tons of innocent people to do that and even set up his siblings to die as well.
Compress comes from a family of thieves, who claims to want to bring corrupt heroes to light, but we never see that. Maybe his ancestors did, but here he’s just using his powers to hurt people and kidnap kids.
Twice was a criminal who was a one-man army who used his powers to commit armed robberies, battery, and assault (not confirmed if he crossed into murder).
And finally, Shiggy is a brainwashed criminal whose actions have been manipulated and controlled by All for One since he was little, and he never received the psychological help he needed after accidentally murdering his whole family. He doesn’t want to change anything! He just wants to destroy heroes because that’s what AFO wants.
Spinner may want to change things to help people, but he’s probably the only one.
Every single person in the league is a terrorist who attacked innocent people and resulted in mass destruction. Not one of them is innocent.
Endeavor is the only one on the hero's side who has hurt an innocent person and set a member of the league on the path to villainy. If Dabe only hurt Endeavor we would be having a different talk, but he hurt several innocent people and tried to murder his siblings, so here we are.
The worst that society has done was suffer the bystander syndrome, and yeah, that’s bad, but it’s something everyone’s guilty of. Everyone has seen a stray and ignored them. Everyone has seen a homeless person on the street and moved on with their day. Doesn’t mean everyone deserves to die, it just means we need to be better. Same with the manga.
Now the Meta league, that’s a different story. Yes, they’re still villains and killers, but they’re the ones actually fighting for their rights and unlike the League, they have points. Quirks are a part of who people are, and if they’re not hurting anyone, they should use them. It’s not fair that only “heroes” should be able to use them legally. THEY’RE the “oppressed ones trying to change the system.” And they tried to do it peacefully at first and only went to extremes when no one would listen, as back then there was a fear against quirks. And now, thanks to their history, they’re seen as anarchists and no one is willing to even listen to them. They’re still villains, but they’re villains with a leg to stand on.
The LoVs are just people who kill other people, then throw a fit when they’re called out on it. This reminds me of a villain from demon slayer, who was always going, “Stop picking on me!” or “I can’t stand those who bully the weak!” when said demon was literally murdering a village of people. That’s exactly what the LoVs are. They are stuck on the victim mentally because they don’t want to change.
The heroes are far from perfect, and they’ve done questionable things with the assassins, and Hawks, but the majority of heroes still do everything they can to help people. Some do it for money and fame, but they still save people. Even Endeavor, who is the biggest asshole on the hero side, still saves people every day. (He should still go to jail for child and marital abuse, and lose all custody of his children, but I digress.)
Stans and the narrative can push all they want that the LOVs are just “oppressed ones trying to change the system,” but the facts prove that they aren’t. They’re killers and criminals who want to do bad things without being challenged or made to feel bad.
The manga's not over, so there's a slight chance I may change my mind, but I doubt it. As is--well, I think I've made my feelings clear.
That’s all from me on the topic. Have a nice day!

Okay hold up
Everyone's saying Endeavor is a terrible father he ignored his kids and abused Shouto and Rei and all that
And they are right
But hold on
First I'd like to say that I do not sanction his behavior and I acknowledge that it was wrong. However, he had reasons other than just wanting Shouto to be the #1 hero.
Everything he did, he did for Touya. Touya's training seemed to be less harsh than Shouto's, or at least he enjoyed it more. He wanted to train. He wanted to be the #1 hero, because then his father would be proud of him. Endeavor was already proud of him. Touya was the destined heir. They had Fuyumi to be Touya's companion. Originally, there were only going to be two.
But then Touya's Quirk started hurting him. Endeavor stopped training him and started trying for a new heir so his son wouldn't have to hurt himself. He didn't go about it in the right way, but the entire reason Natsuo and Shouto exist is because Endeavor wanted to keep his eldest son from hurting himself.
Did Touya listen? No. He practiced in secret. He felt rejected because his father was ignoring him now in favor of some better heir, a child with the Quirk he'd been trying for all along. He felt like he was just a detour on the way to Shouto. He was no longer standing in the spotlight, and he needed to be there so badly. So he trained. And he got hurt. And he vented at his father. He yelled and accused him, while deep down he really just wanted that adoration back.
Endeavor refused to acknowledge him, thinking he would give up. He treated Shouto and Rei like he did because he had all this pent-up frustration at the growing divide between him and his favorite son. Why do I say favorite? Because Natsuo is really just an extra and Shouto is more of a means to achieve something than an actual person. The way he smiled at Touya in episode 130, you could really tell he loved him.
They could have sat down and talked it out. They could have come to a compromise. But both were far too stubborn and both vented in unhealthy ways (taking it out on others or themselves) and Endeavor's attempt to keep his son safe backfired dramatically.
The Todoroki family is not messed up because of Endeavor. It is messed up because of Endeavor and Touya. Both have equal blame, yet Endeavor seems to be the only one who ever gets flack for it. Dabi may have played the victim, but he's also a perpetrator. Their refusal to come to a compromise about Touya's future resulted in hell for poor Rei, Shouto, Fuyumi, and Natsuo.
Endeavor had pure motivations. He just did it wrong and was too proud to admit he made a mistake.
Touya had a burning desire he didn't know what to do with and refused to listen or communicate calmly.
Both were wrong, and both deserve blame. So stop heaping everything on Endeavor, because Dabi deserves some too.
You know the sad thing about this? It probably all could've been fixed with a couple of calm conversations in a therapist's office.
If you don't believe me, maybe you should rewatch episode 130 of the anime.
Edit: Manga chapters are 291, 301, 302

I really want to talk about the newest episode. Not in the typical way, but more of just, well, my emotional investment in it. I've always kinda wanted to talk about Twice's death.
I know it's the anime everyone's seeing right now. But I'll never forget when it happened in the manga, because it was back in March of 2020. I don't normally get personal, but that was a really hard month for me, and when Twice died I'll admit: I was upset for a very long time.
But really, that just incentivised me to write more for Twice — to show my readers for Heroes in the Dark that happy life he had with the League! And I highlighted these moments knowing full well what lied in store. From his debut, I've always loved Twice, and when he was gone, that feeling only intensified.
The anime... dammit, they did a good job animating this scene. The music got to me, and the way his last clone went to Toga, all apologetic. And... and then by the ending, when they showed those images of Toga...
I can't tell you how many times I combed through those scenes and looked at those panels in the manga with the heaviest feelings in my heart. For all the time I spent rewriting bnha almost in its entirety, I knew that Twice's fate was inescapable from the moment it happened.
Anyway, all this to say that I don't think I'll ever stop missing Twice. He was the hardest death this series has ever thrown at us, and I'll never forget that.

Now, Katsuki Bakugo is admittedly my favorite character in My Hero Academia and based on the popularity polls I would say that a lot of people agree with me on that. But there are also a lot of people that hate his character and while everyone is entitled to their own opinions everyone is also allowed to defend and explain their opinions.
I see a lot of people defending Katsuki Bakugo’s character by pointing out his character development and the reason why he acts like he does which is valid and very important to understanding his character but there is one major point that I don’t see a ton of people touch on and that is…
Comedy!! The tone of a scene!! The fact that certain scenes are meant to have a comedic tone!!
Now, My Hero Academia isnt a comedy, It’s a Shonen Anime, HOWEVER there is definitely quite a bit of comedy in it.
I feel like some of the times when people are berating Katsuki Bakugo they aren’t taking into account the tone of certain scenes and the fact that his character is sometimes used as a source of comic relief.
Here are a few examples of scenes of Katsuki Bakugo which were most likely meant to be comedic…
In chapter 253 of the manga, “Shirakumo”, which would be episode 107 of the anime, “More of a Hero than Anyone”, Katsuki throws his headpiece at Izuku knocking him out because Izuku was being praised on his quirk development. I think it’s pretty obvious based on the fact that Izuku wasn’t sent to get medical treatment and instead continued about the day’s hero lesson in some sort of daze with the headpiece still in his head that this scene was supposed to be taken as comedic. This chapter / episode of My Hero Academia was overall quite serious in tone with Shota Aizawa and Present Mic learning about the truth of Oboro Shirakumo and Kurogiri so this comedic moment ( along with a few others like Mina Ashido teasing Ochaco Uraraka about her crush on Izuku ) were likely put in to lighten the mood.
In the movie, “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes”, when Izuku Midoriya and Melissa Shield first come across the villain fight simulation, as soon as Eijiro points out Izuku’s presence Katsuki clings to the railing of the arena like a madman while yelling at Izuku. This scene is quite ridiculous and once again was meant to be comedic.
Most of the My Hero Academia OVA’s are relatively light and humorous in tone although there are obviously exceptions to this, that’s not what we’re talking about right now. In the second OVA, “Training of the Dead”, we see Katsuki injure Izuku bad enough that Izuku’s body has to be wrapped in bandages. Nobody really seems to be panicking all that much although his injuries appear to be worse than a lot of the injuries Izuku has received over the course of the series which WERE taken seriously and then we also have the scene at the end where All Might offers Izuku a cake despite the fact that his face was wrapped in bandages causing him to be unable to eat said cake which results in Izuku crying, both facts indicators that that whole incident was meant to be comedic. A lot of western cartoons such as Tom and Jerry have moments like this where a character gets attacked by another character and ends up wrapped in bandages but where the injuries aren’t treated as one would normally treat such injuries.
So as you can see, there are definitely times when Katsuki is used to lighten the mood. In more comedic scenes Katuski’s angry and aggressive tendencies are often exaggerated further than they are in more serious scenes.
This isn’t just a Katsuki thing either, one way a comedic tone is established in My Hero Academia is the way that different characters traits or quirks are exaggerated in certain scenes.
Izuku Midoriya’s fanboy tendencies are exaggerated in certain scenes such as when he fist meets All Might and gets All Might’s autograph which results in him stating that it would be a family heirloom.
Tenya Iida being earnest and a stickler for the rules as well as scolding people for breaking them is often used to establish some humor, such as when he was yelling at his classmates to sit down on the bus when in reality he was the only one who was actually standing up.
Momo Yaoyorozu and her wealth is often used to set up a comedic scene, such as when she admits that she didn’t expect the dorm rooms to be so small resulting in her shoving a bunch of elegant but oversized furniture into the room.
On the other end of the scale Ochaco Uraraka being poor is often exaggerated as she strait up faints when she sees how big the Class 1-A Heights Alliance is.
Fumikage Tokoyami’s whole dark romantic aesthetic is often played for laughs such as that one moment during the Forest Training Camp Arc when he says “Revelry in the Dark”.
Shoto Todoroki’s social incompetence, serious nature, and literal-mindedness is sometimes used for humor, the best example I can think of being the mock interview with Mt. Lady when Shoto doesn’t understand any of the figurative language she is using.
Nejire Hado’s airhead tendencies are used to create comedic moments, the main example of this I can think of being when she and the rest of the big three first meet Class 1-A and she starts asking a lot of very personal questions without seeming to notice how uncomfortable she was making everyone.
Speaking of that scene Tamaki Amajiki’s social anxiety is used to establish humor there as well when he imagines everyone as potatoes and is also used humorously at a later point when the big 3 are training with Class 1-A and Tamaki, who was supposed to be acting as a villain along with Nejire, says “I want to go home”.
As you can see a lot of characters in the anime receive the same treatment in comedic scenes.
Katsuki’s scenes are often used for physical comedy and comedic violence.
Is Katsuki violent and aggressive in more serious scenes? Yes, he is. Is his violence as severe and exaggerated in serious scenes? Usually not, but sometimes at the beginning of the series before he goes through his character development.
The “swan dive” comment and the fight that Katsuki had with Izuku at Ground Beta during the villain training exercise were both pretty serious scenes that included Katsuki being an aggressive jerk.
But as I mentioned a lot of the scenes where he is being an aggressive jerk, specifically later in the series, are meant to be taken as moments of comedic violence rather than as a serious scene.
It makes sense that such humor would be included in My Hero Academia when you remember that Shonen is a genre of Anime / Manga which is aimed at adolescent boys and that adolescent boys often tend to appreciate such humor.
If you don’t think it’s funny, that’s okay, as different sorts of humor suit different people. I simply made this post because it seems that sometimes when people are being critical of Katsuki it is because they don’t pick up on the fact that some of his scenes aren’t intended to be viewed in a serious light.

Sooooo... I don't know about you guys, and these are only my thoughts but... Remember in ep1 when Izuku's teacher is voicing out that he's also trying to get into UA and everyone laughs and shit and then Kacchan gets up to mock him/bully him and we see this scene of the rest of the class with like evil mocking faces and shit?
Here 👇🏼
Tumblr media
Izuku is feeling the pressure of being quirkless, an outcast made fun of by everyone, everyone looking at him like he doesn't belong and he's unwanted, right?
Now... After Deku vs. Class 1-A and the apology and them bringing our boy back to UA... We have another scene like this. Izuku is facing the wrath of the crowd (unfairly my poor kid I swear) and he's once again seeing them as those evil assholes who are rejecting him.

Idk about you guys, but this gives me the chill... Like Izu is having a flashback of how shit used to be in the past for him with everyone seeing him as a useless quirkless shit that doesn't belong here. I mean, imagine the hurt he's been feeling having to face that crap again, I'm... 😭
Anyways I love him, thank you Kacchan and the others for bringing him back 😭😭😭💚
