Went looking for the building with the midcentury zig-zag roofline and found all the surrounding buildings except for that one. Long gone.

Arrived back in London from my Las Vegas / Palm Springs trip on Friday night – and been wiped out with a cold and jetlag ever since! I’m in the process of sorting photos but it will be ages before I post a full set or album (that’s a major undertaking! I need to wait until my “fellow travelers” have shared their pics so I can compile everyone’s, pick the best and then write scintillating captions. I sweat blood over these things!). In the meantime, I’ll post the occasional “stand alone” photo to whet your appetite. Here: Knut, Anne Kathrin and I visiting Trixie Motel in Palm Springs on 29 April! The place is a shimmering ultra-kitsch pink vision that would make Jayne Mansfield herself coo with delight. Thank you to the suave Angel (assistant manager) for the tour and being such a gracious host!

venloer straße // köln ehrenfeld

the traditional malzkorn orthopaedics company has been located in this building on venloer straße in the middle of cologne ehrenfeld since the fifties. it's nice that the entrance area has remained as it was back then and has been designed in the company colours with sense and understanding rather than being facelessly modernised.

seit den fünfziger Jahren ist das traditionsreiche orthopädiehaus malzkorn in diesem haus auf der venloer straße mitten in köln ehrenfeld beheimatet. es ist schön, dass seitdem der eingangsbereich so geblieben ist wie damals mit sinn und verstand in den firmenfarben gestaltet und nicht gesichtslos modernisiert wurde.
