Headcanons on Mileven Wedding❤️‍🔥

Oooo, I haven't really thought about their wedding other than the fact that they would get married lol.

I can actually see them eloping but I know that some of the people around them would have their heads if they didn't have a ceremony.

Season: Spring. In April before it gets too hot.

Venue: It will be outside where there are lots of flowers: meadow, flower field, botanical garden.

Colors: Yellow (soft) and Blue (soft) since yellow is El's favorite color and I think Blue is Mike's favorite color. But there will be some purple (like lavender) in there.

Nancy would also be the "wedding planner" because she has an affinity for this.

Max would be El's Maid of Honor. Nancy, Holly, Robin and Erica would be her bridesmaids.

Lucas would be Mike's Best Man, with Dustin and Will as his groomsmen.

Jonathan is the photographer.

Mike freaks out before the ceremony but not because he has cold feet, but because he's written and rewritten his vows and he wants to make sure that it shows El how much he loves her and he's not sure if he could even put into words (again lol). Lucas talks him through it and Hopper gives him a solid word.

Hopper walks El down the aisle of course. Karen and Joyce walk down together as mothers of the bride and groom.

Reception: I guess it could be in the cabin but I feel like it needs a huge overhaul. I'm not sure where I'd put it otherwise, especially in Hawkins lol.

Their First Dance Song: Open Arms by Journey

Honeymoon: I think they would want to go out of the country and maybe their parents pitched in to get them out, but not sure where they'd go lol. Somewhere that's beautiful and has beautiful flowers.

As for El's wedding dress, had to save it for last since the picture is big lol. I think El would design her wedding dress but I feel like she would take inspiration from Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face (I feel like that kind of dress would lovely on her since she's petite). Or the wedding dress that Shirley Ross wore in a movie.

I like to headcanon that Holly loves Eleven and treats her like another sister.

She’s really young so she wouldn’t have experienced how other people might unfairly treat El and other people like her so she just treats her like she’d treat anyone. Whenever Mike has a moment where he’s busy and can’t spend time with El she will hang out with her and play with her until Mike comes back into the room. Mike pretends that it annoys him but he actually thinks it’s pretty sweet that his girlfriend and little sister get along so well.

I think El would be great with Holly and really gentle. She might not understand what Holly means but takes time to listen to her.

I think they’ll get married when they’re 23 so around 1993/1994 😌

These are the types of dresses I think El would like

Her color scheme will of course be purple and yellow

She wants a small intimate backyard wedding

Max is of course her maid of honor

Her something blue is a beautiful hair clip Joyce gifts her that has blue Rhinestones

Her something old/borrowed is a Joyce’s vail from her wedding to hopper a few years prior

The ceremony is a quaint little ceremony in the woods outside hoppers cabin on a beautiful autumn day. :) where they first met

And in Mikes vows he mentions how he never knew he’d met the girl of his dreams in these woods years before and now he’s marrying her right there. 🥲

they said the ending won't satisfy everyone. (but not in the game of thrones way. it's hawkins not westerose) everyone would welcome a jopper wedding but not a mileven wedding. a lot of bylers would just talk everything down again that mike wouldn't really love her or some shit like that. so i think mike and el would be more likely to get married if there is a wedding. (and they have always been the main couple of the series so)

or maybe they make a reference to ferris bueller's day off (it's my all time favorite movie i would love it sm) that mike tells her throughout the season to marry him, bc with all the shit that's happening, he just doesn't want to risk them getting separated anymore. he just wants to spend the rest of his life with her and el ends up being over the moon like sloane bc he's actually going to marry her. sometime soon or she takes it in the end and they really get married or/and she thinks towards the end mike is dead but he's fine and she's like 'hey, don't ever do that again! i can't marry you if i lose you!' and he's just grinning like an idiot bc they're seriously engaged now.

Anon, I love how you think! I would love either a mileven wedding or engagement in the end of S5, but realistically I'm not sure if we'll get either.

I can see the Duffers doubling down on Mileven being endgame, tho. I don't think either Mike or El are dying (I have Thoughts as to who might because someone from the OG Main cast is - I can feel it in my bones) and the Duffers haven't wavered from Mike and El being In It For The Long Run like the absolute saps they are, so I expect we'll get some sort of acknowledgement of a future engagement/wedding with those two.

Tho if Mike starts hinting at that as shit gets serious in S5 (like he starts talking about future plans for him and El with her "once this is over"), I will legit melt into a puddle of shipper goo, I swear to GOD. It's one of my headcanons that he has all these big, longterm, very thought out plans for the two of them that he's just holding onto in that big brain of his and that he daydreams about them when he's bored or feeling sad and I would love if we get to see him talk about what he envisions for the future for him and El.

Ugh, and El would just be looking at him all mooneyed and lovestruck with that cute little smile on her face, all smitten kitten, and wow ok now I gotta write a fic about this too. So many fic ideas, so little time!!! Oh woe is me, beleaguered fanfic writer......

Rating Stranger Things Ships:

Byler - 10/10

It’s cute and it makes sense! I feel like it has a lot of evidence! Like the parallels between canon ships! Also the fact that Will is canonically in love with Mike! I don’t think I thought this could be a thing before, but I later realized how beautiful this ship really is! It’s what I’ve been obsessed with for the past few weeks!! <3

Mileven - 3/10

I used to kinda like it more but idk. It’s not the worst but it’s a little weird. I don’t think the first thing El needed after being raised in a lab was a romantic relationship. Like Mike had to teach her what privacy was! He basically kinda raised her too?! And even in S4 it still wasn’t very good. I kinda wanted them to be friends from S1 tbh

Lumax - 8/10

I was just okay with it at first then I started to like it! It’s a pretty good ship! :) love how supportive Lucas was in S4. They’re totally endgame!

Elmax - 7/10

So cute!! I love the fanart! I don’t really ship it (mostly because of Lumax) but I still like it! I loved the scenes they had together. It was nice seeing El do things she actually likes with Max! I definitely like it more than Mileven.

Jopper - 10/10

Yess!! It’s my favorite canon ship and it’s nice knowing that it’s definitely endgame! (unless something happens in S5? Which it probably won’t) I looveee the idea of the Hopper-Byers family! It just feels so perfect! I need a Jopper wedding!!

Ronance - 7/10

I don’t feel like it’s canon but I like the idea of it! The fanart is so cute! Also they’re part of the “fruity four” and I love the idea of that! They make a good duo!

Steddie - 9/10

Also part of the fruity four. This might not have a lot of canon evidence and I didn’t really see it at first, but seeing all the fanart and stuff really made it grow on me! They would make a cool couple! I like headcanons that come along with this including bisexual Steve (because bi and lesbian solidarity) and then being Dustin’s dads!

Stancy - 2/10

Eh no. I don’t know why the shows trying to kinda make them a thing?? I don’t think it’s very good writing. Like it’s weird that they broke up in high school because Nancy realized she didn’t actually love him then she loves him again? Idk

Jancy - 7.5/10

Not my favorite but better than Stancy. I know they have problems or whatever but I think they can work it out. Like as long they don’t break up for Nancy to get with Steve! I think I mostly like this because I find it funny that three kids of the same family like a Wheeler lol! I like the Byler parallels too! Also Murray ships it so I say it’ll be endgame probably

Stonathan - 6/10

I kind like the idea of this! It would be interesting. One thing I think about a lot is how a “love triangle” usually isn’t actually a triangle, it’s more like an arrow ^, but if it were to be complete the two people in love with the one person would also be in love so then it would have three sides! It’s like:

their wedding happens on november 7, 1993 - exactly ten years to the day after they met for the first time 

they get married in a small clearing as close to mirkwood as they can without literally being in the middle of the woods

el wears a long, flowing light pink dress, because white reminds her a little too much of the stark and cold lab and the hospital gown she was forced to wear for so long, while pink reminds her mike and the first time he called her pretty 

she wears lots of flowers in her hair, all of which are picked out by holly 

all the boys wear just khaki pants and light blue dress shirts, simple and comfortable, because really all el and mike care about is finally being married 

holly is the flower girl and even though at this point she’s a young teenager, newly thirteen and quite a little spitfire, she does her job perfectly and doesn’t stop smiling throughout the whole ceremony 

nancy and max are el’s two bridesmaids

with max it seemed like a given, el isn’t sure she actually asked max, it just always just known that max would be by el’s side 

nancy was surprised when el asked her, but she nearly cried when el told her the reason she wanted nancy to be there is because nancy was like a sister to her 

dustin and lucas are mike’s groomsmen and mike refuses to name either of them as a best man, so he called them his best men, because “you can have more than one best man, dustin”

will tries not to get too upset when mike doesn’t ask him, but later that day mike and el sit him down and ask him if he’ll officiate the ceremony for them. neither one of them are overly religious so they don’t want a priest or anything like that and since will one of mike’s longest and closest friends and he’s el’s brother, they want him to be the one to marry them

will definitely cries when they ask him and he’s never been more honored 

the wedding takes place on a slightly rainy, sunday afternoon, but despite the clouds, mike and el can’t think of anything more appropriate then rain on their wedding day 

the wedding guest list is rather small, just their families and super close friends, but el nearly cries when she spots kali and her aunt becky in the small group of guests, beyond thrilled that her aunt and sister are there to share her special day with her 

ted is the only one who doesn’t come, his divorce with karen years earlier driving a wedge between father and son, but mike doesn’t care, his dad never really cared that much about el anyways 

karen and joyce sit in the front row, three boxes of tissues between them, they both are crying before the ceremony even starts 

steve, jonathan, mr. clarke, dustin’s mom, lucas’s parents + erica and flo, who’s basically el’s surrogate grandmother at this point, round out the rest of the guests 

when it finally comes time to walk el down the aisle, hopper pulls her aside and tells her how proud he is of her and how he was always scared of losing her, but he knows that her and mike are going to take care of each other and that this wedding just means that mike is officially a part of their family 

el tries really hard not to cry but when hopper presses a kiss to the top of her head as she hugs him, whispering “i’ll love you forever, kid” against her hair, she can’t help but let a few tears flow down her cheeks 

(thank god she decided not to wear any makeup) 

mike is like super nervous waiting for el to walk down to the aisle, he knows that she’s not going to run or anything and he’s never been more sure about anything in his life, but he just can’t believe he’s finally going to officially be married to el 

dustin and lucas tease him a little bit when they see how nervous he is, but then lucas almost faints when max winks at him as she takes her place on the opposite side of the makeshift alter of sorts and the teasing stops right there 

luckily mike manages to not faint when he sees el but the moment his eyes find her, her dad on her arm, he feels his breath hitch in his throat and the world seems to stop around them. his heart pounds loudly in his chest and mike can’t believe how lucky he is because el is just so beautiful and he loves her with every single molecule in his body 

and el can’t stop smiling the minute she sees him because all she’s wanted for years is to be able to be with mike for the rest of her life and it’s finally about to happen and he’s looking at her like it’s the first time he’s ever looked at her, like all those years ago in the woods, or in the hallway at his parent’s house, or when she walked in the byer’s house after a year of being apart, or at the snowball, and she can’t believe he’s going to look at her like that for the rest of their lives 

hopper is wiping away tears when el and mike finally meet at the end of the aisle and he gives mike a hug, giving him an encouraging whisper, welcoming him to the family which makes mike’s already wide grin grow impossibly larger 

will gets in some good natured teasing as he starts the ceremony, lightly ribbing mike about being so so smitten even at age twelve and commenting about how they all knew that they were going to be here someday and it was never a question of if mike and el would get married, but of when 

but he also says that he’s so happy because they’re his favorite people in the world and they both deserve each other so much and he’s beyond honored and thrilled that he gets to be there to witness it 

then it comes time for mike and el to read their vows, which they wrote themselves

mike goes first and he talks about how he never thought he never thought that anyone as beautiful and kind and strong as el existed in the world and let alone, that someone like her exists, but someone like her actually loves him and wants to be with him. he talks about how much el inspires him and how much it means to him that she’s never judged him or made fun of him for the things that he loves. he tells her how she’s always able to cheer him up or make him smile when he’s having a hard day. he tells her how much he loves her and how he’s known for years that she’s the only person he’s ever wanted to be with and he still can’t believe that she loves him just as much as he loves her. he tells her that she’s the greatest person that he’s ever met in his life and he feels like his life didn’t start until the day he met and that he’s so so glad that he never stopped believing in her, and believing in them. 

el tries really, really hard not to cry because she still has to read hers but the minute mike tells her he loves her, even though he’s told her a million times before, she has to hold back a sob 

then it’s el’s turn and mike is crying before she even opens her mouth 

in her vows, el talks about how much mike’s kindness has always meant to her, and how important it was to her that he never judged her or made her feel dumb or stupid for not knowing things. she tells him how much it’s meant to her that he never looked at her differently when he found out what she had been through and he always saw her as just el, never as a monster or anything else her nightmares told her that she was. she tells him how much she loves that he always knows the right thing to say to her to help her go through things. she tells  him how much she loves him for never giving up on her, even though she knows sometimes loving her isn’t easy, she’s so glad that he never stopped and he always fought for her and fought for them. and finally she tells him that she loves him more than she’s ever loved anyone or anything in her life and she had no idea what love even was before she met him, but he helped show her what love was and that just makes her love him even more. 

mike has tears streaming down his face through el’s entire speech 

through both sets of vows, mike and el can’t stop squeezing each other’s hands, reassuring each other that they love each other and that they’re here now and they’re going to be together for the rest of their lives and that’s all that matters. 

then finally, they’re giving each other the rings, which aren’t anything too special, a set of simple silver rings that el found at a thrift store the day after mike proposed. the rings are a little slippery and sweaty from being clutched in dustin’s hands, but they hardly care. 

because once the rings are on their fingers, will is announcing that it is with great pleasure that he present them as husband and wife 

then they kiss and the world disappears around them and they know that it’s the beginning of the rest of their lives.

it’s spring break, and jane hopper needs to get back to indiana from the university of southern california. too broke to fly home, she posts an ad around campus, asking if anyone is willing to carpool. she’ll contribute toward gas, and she’ll even buy their road snacks. down on her luck, she thinks all hope is lost. but then she finally gets a response: mike wheeler, aspiring screenwriter and her best friend’s boyfriend’s roommate offers to take her there free of charge. turns out he’s from indiana too, and he’s going home for a family wedding. is it fate or just coincidence? // to the ends of the earth

she needs to get back to hawkins urgently because her dad says he has something important to tell her and he wants to do it in person;

and since she’s always prided herself on being independent ever since she could, jane – who goes by el – doesn’t want to ask him for the money to fly home so instead max (her best friend) suggests she put up an around campus to see if anyone can help;

all hope looks lost when three days pass and nobody has answered her ad except for some pervy freshman. but then a miracle happens;

she gets a call from mike, who says he’s max’s boyfriend’s roommate. apparently, he found her ad on the ground outside a coffee shop and lucas told him who she was;

mike’s from indiana too (though he doesn’t say from where exactly), and he’s driving back over break anyway because his sister’s due date is next week and he’s the baby’s godfather;

he’s willing to take her home, and his only request is that she doesn’t mess with the radio in his car;

they set off a day later, and max and lucas both see them off;

since it’s spring break, el has packed nothing but short dresses and her one pair of converse;

when mike’s car breaks down on day two amidst a thunderstorm;

stranded by the side of the road, they hitch a ride down to the nearest motel where they plan on spending the night while mike’s car gets repaired;

problems arise at the motel: first, the motel clerk books them a double room because it’s all that’s left beside a single. but it turns out that there’s only one bed. then a small fire breaks out when el overpowers an electrical socket. and, to top it off, the couple in the room next door are *loud* in their exploits;

*queue heavy romcom vibes*;

in the morning, they grab some waffles to go and check on mike’s car. it’s not going to be fixed for another day, so they spend that time getting to know one another;

mike’s sister is pregnant with her first child, and he’s actually pretty nervous because she’s chosen him to be the godfather and mike’s not sure he’s responsible enough;

el assures him that he is because, even when his car broke down and their night was *chaotic*, he somehow managed to keep his cool;

back at the motel, outside their room: just as they’re about to kiss, max calls el and interrupts the moment. she wants to knows how things are and if they’ve /done/ it yet because she and lucas have a bet going;

el hangs up on her, and when she gets inside the room, she finds mike sat on her side of the bed. he was clearly waiting for her;

he tells her that he likes her, /really/ likes her, and that he can’t help but think it’s fate that they’ve found each other. what are the odds that they’re both from the same place, right?;

el disagrees, saying she doesn’t believe in fate, but she admits to still falling for him;

*shit gets tense for maybe two seconds before mike kisses her*;

the next morning, they pick up his car and find that they’re only several hours away;

the car ride is silent for the most part, aside from the sounds on the radio;

tensions arise when a song comes on and el switches it to a different station; it played *last night* and she doesn’t wanna think about that right now because she feels awkward;

mike doesn’t understand why she would feel weird about it, so she explains that she has no experience with guys and being in such close proximity to him at all times is doing weird things to her;

he gets it (he thinks), and tries to reason with her that maybe they are *fated* and that’s why she feels strange around him, not because they had sex;

she denies this, yet again;

mike drops el off on her front doorstep, and he thanks her for her company, clearly wanting to say more;

he kisses her cheek because *cute* but then el pulls him into a kiss just as her front door opens and her dad steps out;

mike quickly excuses himself, realising he’s got seven missed calls: nancy’s water broke a few hours ago, and he’s gotta rush down to the hospital;

el explains everything to her dad, hopper, including who /that boy/ is and why she was kissing him;

hopper only really cares that she made it back safe, and he says the family has some important news to share with her because they haven’t seen her in a while and wanted to make it a moment; the timing’s a little late though;

nancy goes into labour shortly after mike arrives at the hospital, and it turns out her fiancé is actually el’s step-brother;

just then el arrives with her dad at the hospital, clearly at a loss; hopper explains that she’s going to be an aunt and el starts crying;

you can probably guess who the baby’s godmother is;

*queue awkward blushes and mileven walking toward each other from opposite sides of the hall*

“still think we’re not supposed to be together?”

Future Mileven headcanon: When El and Mike go to events (professional or not), El does her hair, makes up her eyes but she lets Mike put her lipstick in her lips. It reminds to them when they were young and because she loves watching Mike, frowned eyes, bitting his lips, concentrated.

On their wedding day it becomes a big argument bc everyone else is insisting Mike isn’t allowed to see her before the ceremony but El is just no !!! Either he’s finishing my makeup or I’m not wearing it at all !!! And she whines about it until they let Mike into her room

Her something new was her dress, picked out and purchased from a small boutique in Chicago on a girls road trip with Max, Joyce, Nancy, and Karen

Mike teared when he saw her walking down the aisle for the first time even though he told himself he wouldn't 

Hopper gave her away, with teary eyes and a stern look to the wheeler boy 

Lucas and Dustin were groomsmen with Will as the best man

Max and Nancy were El’s bridesmaids along with Joyce since wanted her to be officially apart of her big day

Mike stumbled through his vows and awkwardly swore when he messed up. Lucas and Dustin couldn’t stop laughing while Will tried unsuccessfully to shush them even though he was smirking too

To everyone’s surprise Max started tearing up during the vows and ended up whipping her cheeks on the sleeve of her dress and throwing her bouquet at Lucas when he teased her about it later 

During the reception Mike only let go of El’s hand twice. Once so she could dance with Hopper and the other so she could dance with Joyce.

Dustin and Nancy danced together for old times sake while Steve and Johnathan stood off to the side, one looking mildly amused and the other slightly offended

El’s and Mike’s first dance together as a married couple was to Every Breath You Take by the Police

Marshall and Lily from HIMYM. They are so cute but their relationship confuses me from time to time, just because I can’t imagine being in such a long, stable relationship with only one person (AKA #cantrelate)

I think that Jake and Amy are really something special! They are different in the sense that we rarely see their life as a couple/at home, but we know how great they are as a couple from their chemistry at work!

I think y’all just want my brain to melt into a pile of Mileven fluff, don’t you?

V - Wedding

El and Mike don’t have a huge wedding. For as schoompy and over-the-top in love as they are, they don’t have the widest social network. They have the Party and their families and a few more friends, but that’s really about it. 

Karen, obviously, wants the wedding to be a big thing. She has a lot of friends and extended family she wants to invite, but she’s forced to keep it small after Mike threatens for him and El to run off to Atlantic City and get eloped and then where will she be?

So Mike and El get married in a small ceremony (not sure where, but probably some compromise location to keep everyone happy). But it doesn’t really matter where to Mike and El - what matters is that this is the day they officially promise themselves to each other.

Mike’s a nervous wreak the day of the wedding. Really, he’s just so fucking excited that he can’t wait. This is all he’s wanted for what feels like forever and he’s so close now. The rest of the male portion of the Party threatens to tie him to a chair if he doesn’t stop pacing and being all jittery. (Dustin even goes so far as to find actual rope to restrain Mike.)

El, meanwhile, is filled with a sense of peace that only comes from knowing that this is absolutely where she’s meant to be. Oh, sure, she’s super excited and this is the embodiment of everything she’s ever wanted, but this is so right that it crowds out almost everything else she’s feeling.

Hopper walks El down the aisle during the ceremony and Mike almost goddamn cries when he sees El walking towards him in her wedding dress. El’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen in his entire life and she’s walking towards him wearing this gorgeous dress that makes her look like a princess, about to promise in front of all these people to spend the rest of her life with him and it’s all he’s ever wanted. And yet, he can’t believe how lucky he is that he gets to marry her.

Mike and El don’t write their own vows - at least, not ones that they read in public. I like to think that Mike writes something to tell to El once they’re not being watched by dozens of people, something for only her to hear him say.

Mike and El spend most of the reception completely wrapped up in each other - as they should, tbh. They slow dance to nearly every song, even if it’s not a slow dance song, all smiles and trading small kisses and quiet laughter and they’re just so happy that they’re finally married. 

The Party really can’t give them shit for being so schmoopy and sickeningly in love because if Mike and El can’t be like that at their wedding, then when can they be? (Honestly, though, everyone’s a little envious at the relationship Mike and El share because theirs is the kind of love that only the luckiest of people get to experience, but if any one deserves it, it’s those two.)

J, N, Z idk y but i’m feelin some angst / comfort (mileven !) on this lovely friday

J - Cuddling

OMG, ok, so, Mike and El, like, cuddle all the damn time. Everyone rolls their eyes at them because they’re so touchy-feely (like, god, go do that somewhere else) but no one tries to stop them. Because everyone knows why and it’s because of the year they were separated. It’s reassuring for Mike and El to know that the other is there and safe.

They cuddle when they hang out on the couch or in the fort in the basement. El loves to rest her head on Mike’s shoulder and Mike likes to wrap his arm around her waist to hold her close. Occasionally, he’ll press a soft kiss to her hair or she’ll do the same to his cheek and it’s soft and adorable and totally and completely precious. 

Though, eventually, their favorite is when they cuddle while they’re falling asleep in each other’s arms because they know they’ll wake up and the other person will be there with them. It gets to the point where they sleep horribly whenever they have to spend a night apart. 

N - Crying

Sometimes, El has nightmares about her time in the lab, about the things she’s seen and done and was forced to do. She wakes up crying and only Mike can calm her down. When they’re teenagers, she calls him to come to her and when they’re adults and living together, he’s right there next to her to hold her and comfort her and ease her through the tears.

El also cries when watching sad movies or really happy romantic movies. If it’s a sad movie, Mike will just hold her and tell her everything’s ok. If it’s a sappy romantic movie, though, he’ll tease her for being a big softie and she’ll tease him right back (still crying) about how he cries during Disney movies and a tickle fight will absolutely ensue.

Very, very rarely, they’ll make each other cry. Usually it’s for happy reasons (like the day they get engaged or at their wedding or when El gives birth to their children). But, occasionally, it’s because they get into a massive fight and say things they don’t mean because they’re hotheaded and stubborn and can both be so stupid sometimes. But they always find their way back to each other to apologize, which sets off another round of crying.

Z - Pregnancy

So, El doesn’t particularly like being pregnant. Oh, sure, she loves the idea that she’s carrying her and Mike’s child. But the actual being pregnant part? She could really do without.

She doesn’t have much morning sickness, but she’s tired all the time for the first trimester and she hates how pregnancy is getting in the way of her living her life (because she’s already been restricted enough, god dammit).

But, once her energy levels pick up in the second trimester, she has a whole other set of symptoms to deal with a she starts showing: cravings and mood swings and aches and pains she never knew existed.

The only bonus is that Mike, who already goes out of his way to give El whatever she wants, really goes overboard in bending over backwards. Foot rubs whenever she wants? Done. 3 AM runs to the grocery store for whatever she’s craving? No problem. There’s literally nothing Mike won’t do for El and if she takes advantage of that? Well, she’s going to be the one who’s going to have to go through labor and, dammit, she deserves to be pampered for 9 months, ok?

Mike worries the entire time. Oh, he might not show it. But every new symptom, every ache and pain El experiences sends his heartbeat into the stratosphere. He knows some if it’s normal, but he can’t help but be nervous anyway since El’s carrying their baby. But he does think she’s never looked more beautiful as she does when her pregnancy starts showing. One of his favorite things to do ever is to rest his hand on her belly and just cradle where the curve of her stomach fits perfectly against his palm.

(really, though, Mike can absolutely do without the mood swings, however.)

What are your soft Mileven headcanons ?

They cuddle CONSTANTLY. Everyone else just rolls their eyes watching them but the two of them literally can’t do anything without being tangled up together. Even if they’re doing smth as simple as sitting on the couch watching a movie with their friends El’s still leaning into him and he’s got his arms around her and all that

El is constantly stealing Mike’s clothes and he loves it. Hop always lectures her that it’s not fair of her to always be borrowing his clothes when she can wear her own but Mike LOVES IT and he gets so flustered seeing El wear his stuff

Mike’s over for dinner with her and Hop almost every night. On Fridays it’s movie night and they’re on a cycle for who gets to pick. Mike always picks nerdy sci-fi movies, Hopper’s got a bunch of old movies from the 50s, and El picks romances and dramas that make Mike blush, along with the occasional gorey horror flick that Mike can barely sit through

For their first Christmas together Mike gets El a charm bracelet, and for the next several years after that he gets her a new charm each year. But after a while he starts running out of ideas for new charms to give her and he’s panicking to Max and the boys about what he should get her. In then end instead of getting a charm that year, he gives her a promise ring, along with some sappy speech about how the charm bracelet is an unrealistic gift to continue because he wants to be with her for more years than charms the bracelet can fit, and since “promises” are more their thing anyway, this is his way of showing his commitment to her

They call each other on the phone every night. No exceptions. Mike’s already used to calling her on the SuperCom and El’s used to visiting him in the void, so after they reunite there’s really not much of a difference, except now she can talk back

Mike is always El’s guinea pig for whenever she wants to experiment with makeup stuff. She’s always giving him makeovers and painting his nails and all that. And she LOVES playing with his hair, she thinks it’s the softest thing and whenever they’re cuddling or lying down together she’ll just start lazily braiding it

During their senior year of high school they decide that they wanna move in together the next year. Mike’s going to college in the city, and El decides to enroll in a community college nearby him, and Mike is the BIGGEST nerd about planning it. He buys a huge binder filled with papers for stuff for them to plan, everything from budgeting stuff to apartments up for rent to the types of furniture they wanna buy. El thinks most of the information in it is really tedious and unnecessary, but she thinks it’s so adorable to see Mike get so excited about living with her and planning their first place together.

The day before their wedding, Mike gives El this giant scrapbook filled with tons of stuff from their years together. It’s got everything from pictures of the two of them, ticket stubs from movie dates, little love letters he wrote her on Post-Its, etc. It’s all in chronological order so the two of them go through the scrapbook together and get to see on paper how much they’ve grown up together and how their relationship strengthened over time. It ends with a lot of tears from both of them
