Listened to Alice on my way to work and bawled my eyes out a little. Not only because it’s been a month exactly and that song will forever be tied to the lake scene (my most beloved) but also because of the whole theme of the song of growing up and growing old while all the mundane things of life are happening to you, which is a thing I’ve struggled with since I was a young teenager and also because picking oneself up again after falling down.            the atmosphere in the kitchen’s tense. three times already, she’s gone to make her lunch, seen rhys in the kitchen bumbling about with the new coffee machine, and bolted. on her third attempt she’s ravenous enough that she bites the bullet, makes her way over to the kitchenette, and decides that avoidance is her best strategy.  if she were to speak, what would she even say ?   ‘ hey, rhys !  sorry i made out with the guy you’re coupled up with hours after saying you deserved more, but hey-ho !  it’s a game, so just grow up. ’   yeah, somehow that’s not gonna fly.  she’s making jackfruit and blackbean enchiladas, the way her abuela learned to make them the summer mimi decided she was a vegetarian, a habit that still half-lingered, though these days she’s far less militant in her ethics than her childhood self had been. despite the fact that she’s made this recipe at least a dozen times, she keeps forgetting things — too much garlic, not enough tomato paste. she’d searched the fridge three times for the milk to make her sauce, and it’s only when she opens it again, huffing with exasperation, that she notices it sat on the counter beside rhys. irritation subsiding somewhat, she closes the fridge, watching the side of his profile as he froths milk beneath the spout. “ uh... when you’re done with that, can i have it ? ”  mimi asks, lingering a beat too long before returning to her section of the worktop.

Pride Pictures will aim to bring queer cinema to North American audiences with no language or regional barriers. The company’s launch comes as representation for LGBTQ+ communities is increasing, but the challenge of getting indie queer films into theaters and onto streaming platforms grows.
