Eight years ago yesterday, I began my journey healing from the after effects of cancer by running and strengthening my relationship with God. It’s been a super LOOOOONNGGG road to recovery but a very educational, humbling and supportive one!!! Today was my very first #otf workout and earned some pretty awesome splats for a 30-minute condensed sample workout. I pushed my body to see where it naturally was and I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t call it muscle memory. I call it determination, support and experience that got me through. Photographer Xavier Concha took this portrait of her to place on the wall of the newly built Edinburg Regional Hospital where she sat as a Member of the Board of Directors. She was 49 years old. On the right, me photographed by photographer Jenny Hollis in 2019, for my official photo as a member of the Greater McAllen Association of Realtors®️ Board of Directors. On Monday, I will be 49 years old. A couple of years ago, I didn’t think I was ready to come out from under her shadow of greatness. I didn’t think I could ever be at her level. Today, I’ll be honest, I still question it but the deeper fear I have is living with the shame of never even trying to be like her and attempting her level of greatness and wasting all that she taught me. Today: closing, offer accepted, new commercial listing, a hilarious new coffee luvin buyer with awesome taste, turned in paperwork for some new very special initials after my name, knee didn’t give me much of an issue during my work out, signed up for - get this - my very FIRST EDINBURG 10k ever!!! I know right?!?! Youdathought I would have done that event by now!!! And news that made me so happy... after a year and some of being down on the injury list, I’ve tried very hard to work myself back into the world of marathons and triathlons... so when a big name uber awesome triathlon and running gear company contacts you to support your come back year with an opportunity to represent their designs.... WOOWHOOO!!! I am over the moon that Triflare picked me to be a member of their #triflaretribe !!!! Totally honored to be a part of this team!!! What a great year it’s going to be!!!
