all of the girls you’ve loved before
Tumblr media
pairing: min ho x reader
genre: slight angst, best friends to lovers, they are both so dense to each others feelings..
summary: being best friends with KISS’s resident “heart throb” is not for the weak. falling in love with him isn’t either, so what happens when the line between best friend and boyfriend becomes too blurred?
a/n: hi hello i am back from the dead. i’m convinced this acc is just gonna be a jenny han-iverse fic acc bc if not conrad then i’m writing about min ho. i have ended school so i hope i am more consistent with writing! feel free to send in requests + questions btw :D i hope u guys enjoy this silly fic that is also based off a taylor swift song hence the title!
Sitting outside of your best friend’s party that he throws every year was not something you thought you would be doing. You were convinced that this time was going to be different, and maybe just because you were seeing Min Ho in a different light, he would see you too. Here you still were, all dolled up but with no guts to walk into the party. You sighed, thinking about how pathetic you might be looking at the moment to anyone walking by. It was annoying in your opinion, just a month ago you couldn’t stand the thought of being with your best friend but now you’re starting to second guess and think more about the times you’ve spent together.
It was about 2 weeks ago when you and Min Ho, well more so you, started kind of overthinking the things you two would do together. You used to think that it was just regular best friend things you did, like talking about your past lovers and flings, laughing about all of the late nights you both have spent on your own having lame fights on the phone. But then you start thinking about the other nights, sneaking out past curfew and holding onto each other's hands in hopes of not getting caught. Or the way he would treat you the way he would never treat anyone else, allowing you to see his softer side, doing silly things like letting you do his skin care after he knows you’ve been crying in his bathroom about some dude that said “loved you” not knowing how carelessly he’s throwing out the words that mean so much to you. You see yourself doing the regular “best friend duties” like never saying bye to each other because you know you’ll be seeing each other again anyways, but you know it shouldn’t bother you when you see the new transfer student Madison write your best friend’s name in a heart all over her assignment.
You shook yourself out of your daze and stood up, you knew it was wrong for you to be feeling this way about your best friend and there was no reason for you to start feeling this way now. Looking at your phone’s reflection to fix up your makeup, you took a deep breath and confidently made your way to the venue. Walking in and seeing a bunch of lights and loud music was expected, but tonight your goal was to forget about how you felt and let the universe tell you what to do.
“Excuse me ma’am who let you out looking so good?” a voice spoke from behind you while tapping you on the shoulder.
You turned around and to your surprise it was one of your other close friends, “Q oh my gosh I haven’t seen you in like a week!” you exclaimed while pulling him into a hug, not failing to notice Florian behind him. Once you pulled away you waved at the other male who signaled to his flask, basically asking you if you wanted a shot. You grinned and suddenly all of your prayers had been answered and your night had begun.
If you were being honest, you knew you weren’t a light weight. You always thought of yourself as someone who could just drink enough to not be a heavy weight and be at the perfect level of tipsy where you can feel the buzz. This is the point where you had to go out to the dance floor because of how free it made you feel, not a single care or worry in the world. That was until you felt someone tapping on your shoulder. You turned around to see a guy, a random one you have never seen before around KISS. You could admit he was a bit attractive but not as attractive as Min Ho.
Looking up at the stranger you let out a forced smile, “Hi?” you spoke, but sounded more like a question
“Couldn’t help but notice a pretty girl dancing all by herself, you looking for someone to dance with?” the guy asked as he tried to put his hand on your waist.
You backed away before you suddenly felt someone behind you put their hand around your waist, “Baby I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” a boy spoke with an accent you could recognize anywhere. Looking up, you let out a soft genuine smile at the sight of your best friend.
Min Ho cleared his throat and saw the guy was still there, “Hey man I don’t know if you noticed but she’s my girl, so I would appreciate it if you didn’t hit on her,”
The guy furrowed his brows at Min Ho before quickly realizing who he was, “Oh shit sorry man I didn’t know,” he quickly muttered out
“You’re lucky I didn’t have you kicked out. Now leave us alone, yeah?” Min Ho replied, shooing the other guy away.
Once the guy was gone, Min Ho held onto your hand and led you to a more secluded area away from the party. He looked at you and caressed your cheek, “You okay Y/N?” he spoke softly
You looked up at your best friend and took in the way he looked at you. The way he looked at you made you feel so delicate, like you were the only person that mattered to him. You broke out of your daze and just nodded at him, “Thank you Min, I think it’s time for me to head out now though,” You spoke
Min Ho frowned, but it looked more like a pout to you, “But I just found you,” he spoke, “and we didn’t even get to dance yet,”
You took his hand that was on your cheek and held it, “I know, I’m sorry I’m just not in the mood for it anymore,” you replied softly
After hearing your response, it was like something in Min Ho clicked, causing him to hold your hand again, “Okay, let’s go then,” he spoke like it was no big deal
“Let’s go? What do you mean? Like you’re gonna just ditch your party?” You asked in disbelief
He nodded, “Uh yeah duh? Why would I stay at a party that my best friend doesn’t even want to be at?”
There was that word again, it just keeps dangling over you and taunting you everytime you think you guys could be something more than just friends. Hearing his response just made you let out a small smile. Him pretending to be your boyfriend just lets you have a glimpse of what you weren’t but what you could be, truly it does break your heart but what can you really do about it.  After that night, he just dropped you off back at your dorms, you didn’t even have the energy to invite him in like how you guys usually do. It did feel awkward just leaving him but you needed this. Your heart needed it.
You did feel bad for ghosting everyone. It had been a week since the party and you needed to shut down and take time for yourself to really think about what you wanted to do about your feelings for Min Ho. After being by yourself for a week and doing your work online, you felt like you really did learn a lot about yourself, and that in order to get over your feelings for your best friend, you had to accept that you had those feelings in the first place.
During this week of you ghosting everyone, you weren’t the only one in question about their emotions. Min Ho to say the least has been snappier than ever to everyone. Most times, whenever you were around he would be at his nicest, you were someone who humbled him and brought him back to Earth but without you? He truly was something and someone you did not want to cross. The boy is a mess, he doesn’t know how long ago you guys haven’t talked for this long. Even if it was just a week, it felt like years. One thing Min Ho will do for you but never admit or do for anyone else is giving you space.
If he’s being honest with himself, he tried so incredibly hard not to fall for you or do anything that can potentially jeopardize his relationship with you but the moment he saw you at his party looking the way you did dancing on the dance floor, he knew he was done for. That’s why the whole week he has been so upset with himself for doing what he did that night, for calling you baby, for pretending to be your boyfriend, all of it, because now you weren’t even talking to him. It wasn’t until you texted him asking if he could come over where he finally felt the feeling of anxiousness leave his body.
Min Ho was standing at your door with a bouquet of your favorite flowers, debating on when to knock. That was until you beat him to it and just opened the door after hearing his shuffling from behind the door. Genuinely you were surprised, you didn't expect him to show up so fast, and with your favorite flowers too?
"Hi Min," you spoke with a smile before opening your door to let him in, "Come in please, you've been here countless of times so don't get shy on me now,"
He chuckled, taking off his shoes before stepping into your dorm, placing them among your other shoes and then following you to your room. Before sitting down, he handed you the flowers, "Here Y/N, I got you your favorites,"
"What's the occasion Min?" you asked taking the flowers and admiring them before placing them on your lap
"I just missed you that's all," he replied before sitting down next to you
You cleared your throat and started fiddling with your hands, "Min Ho I've been meaning to talk to you about this for a while," you spoke, "But if I'm honest I want to say I'm sorry for ghosting you for a week, I just needed time to figure out what I was feeling,"
Min Ho grabbed onto your hands and held them, preventing you from fiddling with your hands and causing you to look up at him, "It's okay Y/N, you know I would give you all the time in the world," he replied
Staring into his eyes, you knew you had to say it now or else you would never want to say it, "Min Ho, I'm in love with you," you said feeling so much lighter with that confession alone, "I think I always have been, but I wanted to be sure of it before I told you. I don't know when it exactly happened, but at one point the lines between being my best friend and wanting something more with you started to blur. So please tell me now if I'm just overthinking this whole thing and maybe I'm the only one who feels this way but-" you spoke before Min Ho leaned in to kiss you.
Your eyes widened in shock for a second before you closed your eyes finally kissing him back, melting into his touch and putting your hand onto his chest. If you could describe what the best thing that has happened to you, it would be this moment alone. The way your lips moved together in perfect synchronization, like you were both made for each other. Truly it could not compare to anything you've ever felt before.
Once you both pulled away, your forehead rested against Min Ho's, "You drive me crazy Y/N, I never even thought I had a chance with you but I'm so thankful all of our past romances led me here to you," he spoke
You smiled at his response, "So does that mean you love me too?"
"I love you more than words can describe, I mean I can show you in actions too?" He replied with a smirk
"Min Ho!" you gasped, playfully hitting his shoulder
He laughed at your reaction, "I'm kidding! I mean unless you were serious?"
You rolled your eyes playfully at the boy you were thankful to be in love with. At least this time you were sure this would be real.

01. the note under your desk | minho (xo kitty)

”it all started with a note under her desk.”
genre: mentions of suicide, professional swimmer athlete! Minho x marine biology student! Reader (Nina Shim)

Everything sucks.
From the university, to the students that inhabit its walls, to the dining hall food that has nothing but salt to make up for its lack of taste, to the annoying jocks that keep partying every night, to the girls who can’t stop gossiping about who got laid first—
Yes. Nina Shim is convinced that everything sucks indeed.
Opening her door to her shared apartment dormitory, she catches sight of the stale pan that has been sitting over the stove for over two weeks, despite her reminder to her roommate this morning that this should be gone by the time she gets back. Nina sighs, pushing off her boots in one swift, clumsy motion before staggering over to the small kitchen island that makes up most of the kitchen space, grocery bags in hand her backpack still slung over her one shoulder.
October is almost over in Toronto and people have been hyping up the idea of Halloween since last week. As Nina puts away her stuff in the fridge, she takes note of the scattered pumpkin-coloured paper streamed across the couch, the paper-mache ghosts in a stack on the coffee table. Her roommate, as depressed as she states she is, is gearing up quite nicely for Halloween. Too bad she can’t be as excited to clean up her own flat space. Nina has been granted all of that in her stead.
And it isn’t that Nina wants to complain. She’s not one to, has a pretty high tolerance level if she says so herself. But the thing is, it’s starting to get on her nerves. She might not be as outgoing, as carefree, as Hanni is, but that doesn’t mean that she needs to clean up after the latter like a mother would do for her children.
She has a life, even if that extends to merely hanging out in the University Aquarium lab and checking in on the goldfish every now and then.
Her phone rings in the silent stillness of her flat. Nina quickly fishes it out from her back pocket, pressing the green call button before placing it at her ear, “hello?”
“Nina!” Her mother’s voice is so warm on the other end of the line. So warm that it makes Nina’s eyes sting with tears, “how are you doing?”
“I’m okay,” she forces the words, glad that her mother can’t see her face, for she would’ve read right through her like an open book. Instead, she puts away the remaining biscuits in the cupboard above her head, “and you? How’s dad? He’s feeling better?”
“Oh you know how he is, always so stubborn,” her mother sighs, “he doesn’t want to take his medicine! And then when he falls even sicker he complains like a baby! Aiya, sometimes I wish he would just stop making my life so difficult—“
On and on she goes and that causes Nina’s mouth to twitch upwards into a smile. She misses her mother dearly, more than she will ever admit, and hearing everything that’s been happening back home makes her feel a little better about being far away despite it all.
“—but Nina, tell me, how has your roommate been? Still as dirty as always?” Her mother’s question brings her back to attention.
The girl leans against the kitchen counter, “she’s alright…just, yeah—not clean. But what else is new?”
“You should report her, you know. It’s a violation of your space and if you can't cope then--"
"Ma it's fine. Just--leave it."
"I'm just saying it would help."
"Anyway, how's dad doing?"
"Dad's been...he's been good."
"Going to his appointments I hope?" Nina asks while pulling out a glass from the drying rack.
"Yeah, it's tough for him. You know how much he hates it."
"Yeah I know."
"And you? We never get news, Nina. How's school? Do you go out with friends? You should--" she's grateful when she hears someone call her mother from the other end of the line and quickly fishes for an excuse, "oh it's okay mom, you can go. I'll catch up on homework anyway."
Her mother leaves the call with another apology, and when Nina cuts off the call and tosses her phone back onto the table, she lets out a prominent sigh. Looking up at the ceiling, she forces her eyes to stay dry, to not cry. Because crying means that she’s giving up.
She’s never felt so alone.

“I can’t fail.”
Minho’s seatmate and good friend going by the name of Q, just chuckles before looking down at his friend’s paper, “uh sorry bud, but I think you already did.”
“What happened to you?” His other friend Dae asks with furrowed eyebrows.
“I don’t know, man,” Minho musses up his hair and moans as if the world is about to end. Well, to him it is.
“Maybe you need a tutor,” Q suggests as the class slowly starts to file out of class.
“Or maybe Mrs. Chung hates me,” Minho says snarkily.
“Or maybe,” Dae’s hand falls onto his shoulder, “you need to get your head back in the game. You haven’t really been focused lately.”
“Yeah he’s got a point,” Q says, “anything you’d like to get off your chest?”
“Girl problems?”
“Family problems?”
“Love problems?”
“Oh shut up,” Minho rolls his eyes, slinging his backpack over his shoulder as the trio exit the lecture hall and file out into the main corridor where lingering students are waiting for the next class to begin.
“You know what’s your problem?” Dae suddenly says.
Minho looks at him with a raised brow.
“You’re skipping too many lectures.”
“Aha,” Q snaps his fingers, “now that, my friend, makes a lot of sense.”
“In my defense I have to—“
“Yes yes, we know, you have a rigorous swimming schedule,” Dae rolls his eyes, “but I think maybe it wouldn’t hurt to talk to Coach Choi about it. He might understand.”
“You mean, he’ll kill me,” mutters Minho sourly.
“Or maybe you need help from someone smart,” Q reasons, “why don’t you ask uhm—what’s her name again? The girl who’s always sitting in the front row by the right corner?”
“Ah Kimberley Chen? Yeah she’s hella smart. I’m sure she can help you,” Dae says.
While it sounds like a good idea, Minho’s pride cannot take it. Him? Asking for anything from anyone? He’d rather eat chicken feet, and god knows he hates that stuff.
Though…that doesn’t mean he can’t ask her in secret.
So that’s what he decides to do a few days after their small discussion. He stalks her social media accounts with no success. Apparently, this Kimberley Chen character doesn’t want any distractions from the digital world, hence her lack of presence on Facebook or Instagram.
Minho had no other choice than to stalk her in-between classes. Finding out where this famous Kimberley Chen sits is an easy feat considering that she’s a creature of habit. Having gathered some information on her beforehand, Minho had found out that she’s actually in the block right after his lectures, meaning that he has full chance of getting his personalized note to her.
He waits for the right moment. As soon as the bell rings to dismiss class, Minho quietly sneaks between the rows of desks before smoothly slipping in the note in the shelf right underneath. Then, assuring that no one has spotted him doing such a thing, quickly walks out with his head held high.
He should probably mentally remind himself to check that said desk during their next lecture.
———
“There’s a study group happening in the library. You coming?”
Nina shrugs at her seatmate, knowing full well that it doesn’t matter whether she comes or not. The girl had just been asking out of politeness.
Honestly, her days at university had proven to her that it was almost impossible to make friends on her own. That, or maybe she had just been destined to be alone.
It hadn’t been the case in high school. Nina remembered the happiness, the excitement about attending events with her friends.
Now, she barely had any energy to get out of her house.
“Okay well, if you wanna come, it’s at three thirty,” the girl whose name she doesn’t remember gives her a quick wave of her glossy nail-polished fingers, “bye!”
“Bye,” Nina mumbles to no one in particular. She lets out a soft breath, waiting for the rest of the seats to empty out, before quickly gathering her stuff from her shelf underneath.
It’s as she’s packing up her books that a note falls from her stack. Curious, Nina reaches down to pick it up, turning the plain white letter over. No name. Weird.
Was it money?
Would it be rude of her to check?
It isn’t addressed to anyone, meaning that Nina isn’t practically breaking any boundaries by doing so.
Maybe it belongs to someone. Someone important.
She lets her curiosity get the better of her, breaking off the sealed tip and opening up the page as her eyes scan the contents:
Dear K,
My name is Minho. You’ve probably heard of me. After all, I’m on the professional athletics team. I’m writing you this to ask you for your services. I heard that you’re the top student in class. Well, since I am failing Mrs. Chung’s class, I would really like some help with some additional notes or some studying sessions. You will be rewarded for this.
Let me know if you’re down for it. Cheers.
Minho
Whoever this Minho guy is sure has some great nerve. Nina wonders who in the world would have such a big ego to write such a thing. It sounds almost too absurd to be true.
Wait…Minho. The name somehow sounds familiar…
Or not.
She crumples it up in growing annoyance and is about to throw it away, when she thinks better of it and slowly un-crumples the note.
Maybe she should answer back. Teach him a lesson. And what is this about “You will be rewarded for this”?
Uncapping a pen and flipping the paper over, Nina bends over the table and starts scribbling down her response. Satisfied, she then folds it back into its letter and places it under the desk.
Reward, my ass.

you would bet on it? // min ho x reader
character: min ho
show: xo kitty
tags: frenemies to lovers, gender neutral reader, work place romance
warnings: maybe ooc?? i don't think so but yk, cursing, might have done some heavy self inserting oops
Kitty peaked around a corner, her head darting right and left before she proceeded down an alleyway.
It was just her luck that three boys were standing at a nearby building when they saw her sneaking around. Min ho raised a brow. “What on Earth is she doing?” His words caught Q and Dae’s attention, and they both turned around to watch.
“Maybe she’s just.. Meeting someone?” Dae chuckled nervously, trying to think of a perfectly logical and ethical reason Kitty was sneaking through an alleyway.
Min ho raised a brow. “Or buying drugs. We should follow her.”
Q shook his head, snickering lightly. “You just wanna follow her because you’re nosy.”
Min ho raised his hands in defense. “Sue me– Now let’s go.” He pivoted, going down the same alleway Kitty went down. Dae and Q shared a look before following him.
Kitty walked along for a while, much to two of the boys’ relief, exiting the alley after a short time and heading a way that was much more normal. She was acting oddly suspicious, though.
After some time, she arrived in front of…
A restaurant?
The three boys looked at each other with confused faces before continuing to the entrance.
Kitty walked inside, waiting up at the host stand for a second before you approached her with a grin. “Kitty! Good to see you, you can–” You paused immediately when spotting a very, very amused Min ho.
“You work at a restaurant, seriously?” He chuckled, raising a brow down at you.
Kitty whipped her head around, “Wh– Did you– You followed me?!”
Q and Dae quickly went in upon the realization that Min ho had blown their cover, Dae walking to the other side of Kitty. “We were just worried– You were acting really suspiciously–”
“We thought you could’ve been buying drugs.” Min ho grinned.
Kitty gawked at him. “What– That’s so stupid–”
You cleared your throat, crossing your arms. “What the hell are you guys doing here–” Before you could properly question the boys, you spotted your manager walking over. You blew out an irritated breath before putting on a fake smile. “How many in your party tonight?”
Min ho was loving this way too much. “Oh, just the four of us.” You so desperately wanted to wipe the smug look off of his face, but alas… You did value your job.
“Great!” You spoke through clenched teeth, grabbing four menus from behind you. “You can follow me right this way.” You took them to a section belonging to a server who had just arrived, so it was completely empty. After they sat down and you advertised your company’s rewards system with very red cheeks, your manager finally stopped watching you. Immediately upon their eyes being taken off of you, you exploded. “What the hell are you guys doing here?!”
“Kitty was acting weird. We swear we didn’t know she was coming here.” Q explained, chuckling nervously. He didn’t particularly like the idea of two of his best friends being upset with him over one of Min ho’s dumb ideas.
Min ho leaned back in his seat. “And I’m glad we did. Otherwise, we never would’ve learned of this little secret.” He motioned to your uniform, which caused your cheeks to go redder.
“Well, I’m sorry but not all of us can go through life completely supported by our ‘Mummy’s’.” You mimicked his accent toward the end, huffing. “Some of us actually have to support ourselves.”
Min ho rolled his eyes. “Right, like it’s so hard.”
You gawked at him. “Min ho, you would not survive a customer service job. Honestly, I would bet on it.”
This intrigued him, and he quickly leaned forward in his seat, turning to face you. “Oh, you would bet on it? Really?”
“Mhm. You would not survive in the restaurant industry.”
Min ho hummed. “Well, if you’re so confident, then let’s bet.”
“Fine. If I win?”
“I’ll do anything you ask of me. No objections.”
“Hm.. Okay. And if you win?”
“Same thing. Whatever I ask of you. Zero objections.”
Though you didn’t like the idea of Min ho being able to hold something over your head, you were confident enough that you felt comfortable despite the stakes. After a moment, you spoke. “Fine. Deal.”
Min ho grinned. “Deal. I’m looking forward to winning this bet.”
“In your dreams.” You rolled your eyes at him, backing away to finally allow the server to do their job. On your way out of the section, you caught Kitty who mouthed a “Sorry”. You shook your head, waving your hand at her in dismissal. Really, Kitty had done you a favor. Now you had the chance to one up Min ho.
After further discussion over text, you spoke to your manager about a friend who wanted to come in for an interview. Lucky for you, your shop was severely understaffed due to a mass of server’s quitting, so the manager didn’t hesitate to hire Min ho.
His first day was an absolute wreck.
He spilled a salsa bowl on him, which to anyone else would be a mere inconvenience, but to Min ho, it was the end of the world.
“I just bought these pants!! They're designer!!"
You shrugged. “It’s your own fault. Maybe you shouldn’t be so clumsy.” You were admittedly being hypocritical as you had broken and spilled your fair share of things on especially busy nights where you had to help.
“I hate you.”
You grew very familiar with those 3 words the more you worked with Min ho. His first few weeks, he let everything get to him. The customers, the messes, the way he smelled after work. Restaurant smell. You’d grown accustomed to it, so you hadn’t even considered that to be something that would’ve bothered him.
Much to your surprise though, he was very good at the customer service aspect. In some ways, it made sense. He had a way with acting charming, and he was fluent in Korean, which helped with the locals. He also only kept his complaints to when the two of you would be walking to the dorms together once you got off.
The thing that surprised you most, though, was how much you enjoyed spending time with him. You were used to server’s coming up and talking to you on slower days, the host stand often being a hangout place. You assumed Min ho picked up on it as he had suddenly begun hanging around there, too, when his section was deserted.
He waited for you after work. Even when he had been cut and could’ve gone home earlier. He excused it that you shouldn’t be walking alone at night. You didn’t really care about his motives, but you appreciated it. It was a nice gesture.
After 2 months, he still didn’t quit. You were beginning to worry he’d want to cash in his prize for the bet since it seemed like he had no intentions of losing. What would he make you do? The options were endless. You still had a slight hope that you could win but…
At the same time, you didn’t. You liked working with him more than you thought you would, it would be a little disappointing if he quit.
One night, though, his unwillingness to quit was really proven.
He had scheduled a date a few weeks in advance with some famous girl or something, you weren’t sure. But, he had also forgotten that he had a shift that same night.
He was up by the host stand, talking with you when he felt his phone buzz. He looked around to ensure your manager wasn’t near before he picked up.
“Hello?” After a few seconds his eyes widened. “That was tonight? Oh– I’m so sorry I must’ve forgotten, I–” He was cut off and a few more seconds passed where you heard muffled speaking through the phone. “I’m at work. Wait– Oh.” He said your restaurant’s address before he was hung up on. He blinked for a moment before putting his phone away.
You raised a brow. “What was that?”
He ran a hand through his hair. “I forgot I had a date tonight.”
“Oh. Well, if you need I’m sure one of the other servers could cover for you, I mean, even I can–”
“No!” You paused, blinking up at him. He shook his head. “No. What if we get busy? The dinner rush hasn’t even come in yet! I can’t desert you like that.”
You felt a blush creeping up your neck. He couldn’t desert you like that?
Before you could question his wording, a very pretty girl walked up to the two of you, clearing her throat. “Min ho, are you ready to go?”
The girl rolled her eyes, pulling out a small mirror and lip gloss. “Yeah, and? You don’t need a job, Min ho. We can just leave. It doesn’t matter.”
Min ho looked over. “What? I told you I was at work–”
He shook his head. “But it does. It’s a responsibility.”
The girl glanced at him before putting away her things, grinning. “Responsibility? When did you get so mature? It’s hot.. But seriously. Let’s go.”
Min ho groaned, a hand going over his face. “I already said–”
Before you could stop yourself, the words were already leaving your mouth. “I think he already said he wasn’t going.”
The girl looked at you, scoffing. “And you are?”
Min ho stepped in front of you, crossing his arms. “They’re my coworker and friend. Plus, they’re right. I told you I couldn’t go already.”
The girl clenched her fists before putting her hands on her hips. She stared at the two of you for a second before huffing. “Fine. Fine! I’ll leave. But I’m texting you later to reschedule.” She glared at you, then turned around, heading back out.
You looked between him and her figure, which disappeared into a car.
There’s one thing she said that you agreed with.
This new maturity was hot.
A few hours later, the two of you were walking back to the dorms together. You sighed dramatically. “Y’know what– Fine. Fine!”
He raised a brow. “What are you on about?”
“Fine, you win.” You stopped walking. “You win the bet.”
He stared at you for a second before his brows raised. “Oh. Right. That.”
“Don’t tell me you forgot.”
He shrugged, his hands going to his pockets. “I guess I did. But, hey. I told you I could do it.” His nonchalant expression turned into a grin.
You rolled your eyes. “Well..”
“Well?”
“What do you want? I agreed to do anything you wanted. No objections.”
He thought to himself for a second. “Hm… I’ll need to think on it.” He kept walking.
You gawked at him, whining and following him. “Min ho– That’s not fair! Now I’m gonna have to walk on eggshells!”
“Ooh well.”
The two of you continued your walk, and you continued to pester him to no avail. By the time you got home, Kitty had retreated to her room, so you went to yours. You got ready for bed, flopping down with a hum. You grabbed your phone off your bedside table when you saw a text from Min ho.
min ho: okay, i’ve made up my mind.
min ho: i want..
Min ho: a date.
Min ho: this friday. i’ll pick you up at 6.
Wait.
WHAT?!

I'm so hysterical for Minho. Screaming, crying and thrashing my pillow on my bed. My period did not make my delusional ass better. It made it WORST. Not to mention I feel his pain of wanting someone we can't have??? Like ughh. I'm so stupidly crazy for this FICTIONAL man. Bro has me wrapped around his finger. Like this craziness is so new to me. I don't know what to do.

Kitty had thought that Yuri was drop-dead gorgeous from the moment she met her. She had felt her heart pound heavily that night at Min Ho's party, before she dreamed of all their tension and the release that kissing her red-lipsticked candy lips would provide. She thought it as they danced together at the talent show, butterfly wings fluttering in her stomach as they moved their fans like Luna moths rather than monarchs.
But none of that had prepared her for this.
Min Ho sat on the floor of her new dorm room, tossing pop rocks at her and rambling about his mom's new movie. "Oh, Min Ho," she said. "You do not want to start throwing candy at me."
"But... I do," he said. "I know you stole my buckwheat hand cream." He shrugged. "Just admit it. And you can make all this," he threw another pop rock at her, "stop."
"Mmm," Kitty hummed, "no. A little extra cleaning later isn't worth admitting to something that I definitely didn't do." Her voice was filled with false bravado; they both knew that she was in fact guilty.
"I'll dump them over your head if need be," Min Ho said.
"Sure you will. It's your way of saying, 'I'm glad you stayed, Kitty. I'm so happy you weren't expelled because-"
She cut herself off.
She had to.
Because the most beautiful girl ever had walked into the room.
Yuri wore a pink cardigan, eye-grabbing and soft. Her sweater paws covered her hands, showing nothing but the bright blue nails that matched her undershirt. She was a rainbow...
And Kitty felt her suck in a breath.
Because...
Her hair.
Her hair, that was so soft to touch, was... well, different.
Instead of long locks, she now had luscious layers. The bottom cut off at her shoulders, framing her strong chin and bringing out the hardness of her jawline while still accentuating the softness of her cheeks.
It suited her.
Oh, how it suited her.
And how Kitty's face was warming as Min Ho looked from Kitty to Yuri and back again. They stared at each other for a moment, and Kitty smiled brightly as Yuri walked over to her.
"Hey," she said. Her winged eyeliner was sharp, but the corners of her eyes were crinkled as she smiled that odd little half-smirk that Kitty had imagined so often over their school break. That smile that Kitty had anticipated seeing again every time she closed her eyes.
"Hey," she said back, and Yuri shoved her hands into her cardigan pockets. "You look..."
"Awkward?"
"No," Yuri replied. "I was going to say 'well.'"
"Oh... yeah." Kitty nodded, feeling like an idiot. "I am. Well, I mean."
Yuri raised an eyebrow. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Oh," Kitty said, scrambling for a reason. God, her cheeks burned. Her stomach fluttered. "I was just thinking... your hair."
"I know," Yuri rolled her eyes. "It's a mess."
"At least you know it," Min Ho chimed in, and Kitty and Yuri glared at him in unison.
"No," Kitty said. Then, in a quieter voice, "I was going to say that it looked..." Exquisite. Gorgeous. Luscious. Adorable. Sexy. "Good," she concluded lamely. "It looks good."
"Mmmm, thanks," Yuri said. "But not much of a compliment, as I look good in anything."
"Yeah," Kitty said. "You do."
"You're being weird," Yuri said. "Why are you being weird?"
"I'm not," Kitty protested.
"Yes. You are," Minho interjected. "Then again, when are you not?"
"Hey." Kitty held a hand up at Min Ho. "I prefer quirky."
"That feels more accurate," Yuri said. "But your quirks are cute, yeah?"
Cute. Cute. Cute. She thinks I'm cute.
It means nothing. You're friends. The next generation.
So Kitty forced herself to smile. "Thanks," she said.
"Now come on," Yuri said impatiently. "Let's go get some lunch. I bet you're dying for some Kimchee after weeks of nothing but bland American food."
"It's not bland."
Min Ho laughed. "It definitely is. I've had baked chicken."
Yuri nodded sadly. "It hurts to agree with Min Ho, but yeah. Here, Come with me." She grabbed Kitty's arm and started to lead her out the door, and Kitty's arm felt electric everywhere that they made contact.
It means nothing, Kitty reminded herself again.
And she walked out of the room arm-in-arm with her friend. The one that she was in love with.
She didn't even care if she came back to a bed full of pop rocks, because she was here.
She was home. With her friends. With the ever-present phantom hands of her mother stroking her hair and laughing in the breeze.
And that was enough.

min ho x gn!reader
wc: 2.5k
genre: enemies to lovers(?), reader is Q’s twin not twin ( tangerine & lemon vibes)
synopsis: your back and forth flirting with min ho takes an unexpected turn during chuseok.
warnings: some mentions of self-doubt
a/n: 1st fic from the 1k celebration! I do have a part two in mind, but i’m not sure if people would like that! lmk ur thoughts!
edit: here is part two!
You made your way over to Q’s dorm, knowing that you would have to see him.
Minho was the bane of your existence, and you were never one to enjoy his presence. He had seemed to be in an even worse mood recently with Kitty’s arrival and her meddling with everyone’s life. You loved Kitty, even though she did have her moments where she was a little all over the place. You had actually met her before the rest did, talking to her sometimes when Dae was facetiming her and you were studying with him.
Knocking on the door, you were surprised to see Minho open the door. He stared you down for a second, the air being awkward between you two the only sound being the facial mister in his other hand.
“Are you going to just stand there or are you going to let me in?”
Minho rolled his eyes and moved out of the doorway to let you in.
Waltzing in, you took to knocking on Q’ door, hearing some groaning coming from the other side. You opened the door, seeing Q laying in his bed still half asleep.
Grabbing his blanket, you puled it off of him.
“Morning sleepy head!”
Q groaned and lifted his head up from his pillow.
“Why are you here now? I thought we were meeting up for coffee.”
“My sweet darling brother, I couldnt just come because I miss you?”
He squinted at you, not buying your story.
“Okay I wanted to seeing if someone was here, but it seems that they didn’t stay the night today.” before he could respond, Kitty walked into the room yawning and seemingly in her pjs.
Your eyes widened and so did hers when she realized you were standing there.
“Kitty!”
“Yn!”
“I promise this isn’t what it looks like-”
You backed out of the room, awkwardly shaking your head.
“It’s fine! I’ll just be out here!”
Closing their bedroom door you heard the most obnoxious laughter behind you. You took a deep breath in, and turned your head to see Minho sitting on their couch with a cup of tea in his hands. You went to go sit down next to him, sighing.
“So it looks like you found out.”
“Were none of you planning on telling me?”
“Of course I wasn’t going to tell you, I’m not your handler.”
“Well of course not, you’re my lover.” you said leaning close to his face, batting your eyelashes at him.
You both stared at each other, and he nudged you away, feeling slightly awkward with you so close to his face. He didn’t want you so close, his heartbeat being slightly faster at your proximity.
“Shut up. That’s not even remotely funny.”
“I never said it was a joke.”
You both started bickering about it, not noticing when Kitty and Q came out of their room.
They both stared at you guys arguing with a small smile on each of their faces. It seemed obvious to everyone except the two of you that you guys were into each other, but if they told you guys they knew both of you would start spiraling.
Q liked seeing his sibling so happy, especially with Chuseok around the corner. Both of you weren’t going anywhere since you guys were expats, but seeing everyone go home always made you more homesick than normal. He remembered when his parents decided to adopt you, saying it would be nice for him to have a sibling that was his age. He was worried that you were going not like him, but you both took to each other fast. Being joined at the hip since your adoption, you always joked that you guys were twins, despite not even having the same birthday. But you made sure no one knew that your birthday wasn’t even the same day, making everyone everywhere address you both as twins.
He cleared his throat which made both you and Minho turn your attention to him & Kitty.
“Are you ready for that coffee?”
You had spent more and more time in Q’s dorm now that you knew Kitty was also there. It was refreshing having someone else deal with the guys, even if she did have some drama with Dae.
You weren’t the closest with Dae this year, having distanced yourself with all the drama he was swept up in. You pitied him a bit, being able to clearly tell his relationship with Yuri was a facade. Still, with Chuseok being in two days, you knew that it would be hard for him.
Walking into the living room of your brother’s dorm, you sighed and threw yourself ontop of Q. He groaned when you landed on him, your elbow hitting him in the ribs somehow.
You smiled at the noise he let out, seemingly satisfied.
“Have you seen Dae today?”
“No, he went home already. Something I guess came up? I’m not too sure, he seemed a bit stressed out about it.”
You hummed, a bit sad about it. Dae had left KISS early, and you weren’t able to talk to him.
The front door opened, and Minho walked in, letting out a sigh when he saw you there.
“Oh great, you’re here.”
“Aw Minho, did you miss me?”
“Do you think a dog misses it’s fleas?”
You stuck your tongue out at him, and he reciprocated it.
“Do you two ever get tired of arguing?” Q said, looking up from his phone.
You rolled off of him and went over to Minho, wrapping your arms around him.
Minho tried swatting your arms away, but you squeezed him tighter.
“Aww come on Q, you’re telling me that you don’t think we love each other?”
Minho’s mouth dropped wide open when you said that, never wanting to hear the word love come out of your mouth pertaining to him.
“I could never love you, you’re too annoying.” He grumbled wiggling himself free from your grasp.
You pouted and let out a huff,
“Minnie, you’re being too mean.”
The face that he had made left you satisfied and you went back to the couch with Q.
The silence that encased the three of you wasn’t awkward per say but you could’ve done without it.
Minho cleared his throat and both you and Q whipped your heads towards him.
Minho had always thought you guys were sometimes weirdly in sync like that, and it made him second guess if you guys actually were twins.
“So, are you guys going to Kitty’s chuseok dinner?”
You blinked at him, not even knowing that Kitty was hosting a dinner.
Q nudged your arm and you glanced at him with a small frown.
“Yeah, we’re going, are you?”
“No, I have a date with Lulu that day.”
You smiled at the thought of him going on a thought with Lulu, knowing that somehow he would probably mess it up.
“Lulu, huh? Sound’s interesting.”
“We’ve been flirting since her trainee days, it’s going to be amazing.”
“Well it’ll be fun to hear about!”
Q had said something to Minho about it, but you tuned out of the conversation, sending a few texts back and forth with Kitty.
She asked if you were busy, and if you could help her with the grocery shopping for the dinner (you assumed she assumed you were down to go to the dinner).
You told her you could meet her at the entrance of their dorm building and she said she would be over there in a few minutes.
You quickly got up and grabbed you bag, giving Q a quick hug.
“You’re finally leaving?”
“Don’t worry Minnie, I’ll be back soon!” You blew a kiss at him and laughed at his reaction, leaving both boys shocked.
Kitty’s chuseok was finally here, and she was running around the dining area, grabbing the last few things for the table.
You had shown up a little earlier than everyone, having promised Kitty you would help set up. You were finishing the table settings, turning around to grab the last of the silverware, when you accidentally ran into someone.
“Sorry! I didn’t see you-”
“Of course not. You tend to not look.”
You made eye contact with Minho, who seemed unamused. You had a slight frown on your face, ignoring his quip.
Sidestepping him you scurried along, finishing your task.
Minho was caught off guard, you never didn’t respond with your own quip, always being a thorn in his side that he seemed to not be able to get rid of.
The rest of the night you ignored his presence, choosing to sit next to Alex and leaving him to sit with Madison. No matter how annoying he thought you were, he did think you were lightyears better than Madison. He felt off somehow, seeing you act so different. Yes you were still laughing and making jokes with everyone else, but he could tell that your smile didn’t fully reach your eyes, and that you seemed to keep your laughter short.
Before he could ask you if anything specific was wrong, his phone buzzed with a text from Lulu. He had been so focused on you ( and also ignoring Madison), that he had forgotten about his date. You had excused yourself from the table before he did, stating that you just weren’t feeling well. Q had given you a worried glance but you shook your head at him and he seemed to get the hint that you wanted to be alone. You had assumed it was the twin telepathy that you both have.
His eyes had followed your retreating figure, and he muttered a goodbye to Kitty who was confused that he was leaving. He mentioned his date with Lulu, and walked towards the exit, hoping he would find you around there before his date.
You sat on the steps of the school, pulling your sweater’s sleeves over your hands, letting the tears flow from your eyes. You were frustrated for feeling so homesick and wanting to act normal like your brother. He seemed to not be as homesick, knowing that sometimes your relatives could be harsh. He also seemed to be doing well this year, having a good group of friends and a loving boyfriend. You knew that even though his friends were also your friends, besides Kitty you sometimes felt that they felt forced to be around you.
Minho had found you sitting on the steps, and he wasn’t really sure what he was supposed to do, or say at this point. He had never expressed any interest in your emotions other than your annoyance, and he also was just horrible at comforting people. Ignoring the vibrating of his phone, he went and sat down next to you, waiting for you to realize he was there.
“Q, I love you but I wanna be alone right now.”
“Well, I’ll pass on the message to him.” you glanced at the owner of the voice you knew so well, not knowing what to say to him.
You sighed and turned your focus on the sky once more.
“Don’t you have a date to be getting ready for?” you had meant for it to come out snarky, but you both could tell it just came out more sad than anything else.
He nodded and hummed.
“Yeah. But you seemed to need someone to talk to. And lucky for you I’m not only incredibly attractive-”
“And humble apparently”
“But I’m also a great listener.”
You turned to meet his gaze, not seeing a hint of a joke in his eyes.
“I’m just homesick.”
He nodded, knowing how that felt. For him he felt homesick with his mother, spending time with her and getting to see her all the time. His father on the other hand– well he had assumed that a normal father-son relationship boiled down to sending presents when he seemed to remember he had a son.
“I know it’s dumb too, but I feel like I’m just annoying to everyone sometimes, and that everyone except for a few people only see me as Q’s sibling. I just feel out of place sometimes. It’s not always a feeling that’s there, but today it is.”
Minho didn’t realize that you had felt this way. As annoying as you could be, he found that you truly cared for your friendships, and always kept within boundaries. He knew that if he were to ask even your classmates you were well liked, keeping to yourself but willing to help those if needed.
“I know I’m probably the last person you wanna hear this from, but you’re not annoying.”
You gave him a skeptical look and he let out a soft laugh.
“Okay, sometimes you’re annoying. But you’re someone that people really enjoy to be around. I know whatever I say may seem hollow, but you really do mean a lot to people. I don’t think people just see you as Q’s sibling, I believe they see you for you. You’re kind, smart, and witty.”
You stared at him, a little shocked at how he saw you. All this time you thought he actually hated you, but perhaps you were wrong?
A small smile crept onto your lips, and he felt something in him swell at your smile.
“Thank you, Minho.” you whispered, fiddling with your sleeves.
He wasn’t sure what it was, but there seemed to be something between the two of you. Neither one of you said anything, the silence palpable . Both of you failed to realize that you were both leaning closer to each other’s faces, close enough to kiss until his phone started ringing.
The ringing snapped both of you out of whatever trace you were in, and he looked to see who was calling him.
You saw his phone screen light up with Lulu’s name and contact picture, and you immediately felt awkward. He had a date tonight, and whatever almost happened between the two of you was most definitely a bad idea.
Minho seemed torn as to what to do, until your voice reached his ears.
“Answer it.”
He hesitated for a moment longer before getting up from the stairs and answering the call.
Lulu was calling to let him know she was running a few minutes late, traffic being bad for no reason. She told him that she’d be there as fast as she could, and that she was happy to see him.
He nodded along to what she was saying, acutely aware that you were behind him, hearing him agree with what she said on the phone.
He quickly hung up and turned back around to apologize to you, noticing that you were gone.
You had left when he got up sprinting to your dorm, heart beating fast and head full of thoughts of what could’ve happened between the two of you if she hadn’t called.
